Airships in Ohio program is Sunday

The Winona Area Historical Society is inviting the public to attend “Tragedy To Triumph-100 Years of Airships in Ohio.” Two programs will be held: at 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday at the 1895 Meeting House in Winona, 32114 Winona Road. The program will be about the Ohio crash of the USS Shenandoah in September of 1925, as well as the 100th anniversary of the nearby Ohio Goodyear Airship Operations. Author and guest speaker Aaron Keirns will present a program about the wreck of the Shenandoah — which was national news. The Goodyear Blimp portion of the talk will detail facts about the airships that we all frequently see flying overhead here in Columbiana County. The program is free and refreshments will be served. There will be a free random prize drawing(s) for attendees. Area Historical Societies and Airship Facebook sites are encouraged to attend. (Submitted photo)
