Miller, a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran and Cuyahoga Falls resident and four-term city council member, explained The ACCESS Act corrects Veterans Administration wait time manipulation, faulty scheduler guidance, and improper appointment canceling, which prevent veterans from accessing many of the health care choices recently made available under The VA MISSION Act of 2019. It is co-sponsored by U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) and U.S. Representative Mike Bost (R-IL).
Following Miller’s presentation, the chapter accepted MOAA’s 2024 Five Star Award of Excellence for superior chapter operations and the 2024 Marvin Harris Communications Award for excellence in chapter newsletters and websites.
Next month the chapter hosts an outreach coordinator from the Ohio Public Utilities Commission to discuss the Energy Choice Ohio Program on Thursday, Sept. 18. Check in starts at 5:30 p.m. and reservations are due Monday, Sept. 15. Current, former, and retired commissioned and warrant officers and their current or surviving spouses residing in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania may attend at no cost or obligation.
