Salem concert to feature blues guitarist Nick Vigarino Friday
SALEM — The city will host the world-renowned blues guitarist Nick Vigarino in a free concert Friday.
The concert is set to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday as part of the 2025 Live Music series presented by Salem Tourism. While the concerts are typically held at McCulloch Park, Friday’s concert will be held at Lincoln Plaza, the first concert of the season to be held in the plaza.
A Youngstown native, Vigarino was inducted into the Washington Blues Society Hall of Fame in 2010 and can be heard on more than 30 recordings, and three film soundtracks, has performed in 13 countries and been nominated for more than 30 music awards. His unique “Slop Jar Delta Funk Blues” has been described by Blues Historian, Ethno-musicologist, and critic Ray Varner as having “an unpredictable fervor with slashing slide guitar, powerful vocals, funky licks, modern lyrics,” and elevating “the blues to a place where the roots are respected, yet nudged towards the future.”
Like all concerts in the series the public is invited to “bring a chair and enjoy some music” and to pick up drinks and snacks from local businesses downtown, or to take advantage of the city’s designated outdoor refreshment area.
