EP Band Night
The East Palestine Band Night will take place Saturday at 6 p.m. at East Palestine High School at 360 W. Grant St. The event will feature performances from the East Palestine, Crestview, West Branch, Wellsville, Beaver Local, Lakeview, Southern Local and Lisbon high school bands. Cost of admission is $7. Concessions and basket raffles will be available.
Breakfast Club
The Sandy & Beaver Insurance Company will be serving up its final breakfast for the year Friday from 8 to 11 a.m. The breakfast will benefit the Lisbon Police Department and Lisbon Fire Department. The breakfast is free and donations are accepted. All donations are matched by Sandy & Beaver Insurance Company and the James L. Sanor Insurance Agency.
Ghost Trolley Tours
Salem Historical Society has scheduled 10 Ghost Trolley Tours for 2025. The Quakertown Trolley travels out of the downtown area to cemeteries, neighborhoods, and other “haunted” destinations around Salem. A docent tells true ghost stories about these places and events in and around Salem. Participants should wear good walking shoes as there are occasions that riders have an opportunity to exit the trolley. The tours will be held Saturday, Oct. 4 at 4, 6 and 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 11 at 6 and 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 18 at 4, 6 and 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 and 8 p.m. The cost of the tour is $15 per person and reservations are required. ‘Cook’s Night Off’
Winona Methodist Church, 32114 Winona Road, will hold its next “Cook’s Night Off” drive-thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out Oct. 1. The meal will include roast pork, parsley potatoes, corn, bread, and pumpkin dessert for $12. Dinners can be pre-ordered anytime before noon that day by calling the church office at 330-222-1211. Pre-ordered dinners must be picked up by 6 p.m.
Calendar contest

MGV open house
The Ohio State University Extension in Mahoning County invites the public to a Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office, 490 S. Broad Street, Canfield. This free, drop-in event gives participants the chance to meet current Master Gardener Volunteers, ask questions, and discover how to become part of the program. Attendees will learn about the MGV mission and opportunities, including: receiving intensive training in horticulture; gaining knowledge about plants, insects, diseases, and more; sharing their gardening passion with the community; assisting with educational programs and events; and enjoying fellowship with others who share a love of gardening.
