Mr. and Mrs. Robert Roberts mark 75th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Roberts were honored by their family as they celebrated their milestone 75th anniversary at the Rumpled Queen in Salem.

Bob and Marilyn were married on Sept. 16, 1950 at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Youngstown. Their love story began two years prior to the exchanging of their wedding vows. Together, the Robertses enjoyed a fulfilling life which included many remarkable life experiences and charitable works.

They raised their children Bob Roberts (deceased) (Mary), Ron Roberts (Terri), and Diane Young (Paul), and were also blessed with six grandchildren: Angela (Young) Choi, Colin (Jeannine) Rank, Dan (Karen) Roberts, Ben (Emily) Roberts, Anne (Eric) Knudsen and Robert (Caitlyn) Roberts. They welcomed eight great-grandchildren as well: Caroline, Catherine and Charlotte Choi, Harriet, Frances and Georgia Knudsen, and Mac and Grady Roberts.

Marilyn and Bob were also fortunate to have enjoyed many beautiful and cherished friendships. They were active and devoted members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem. Throughout their many years together, they participated and led many community organizations and activities. They were also fortunate to have enjoyed exciting travels around the world, not only with their family but also with friends and as a couple.

Bob, a professional engineer, began his own business, The Roberts E Roberts Company, in 1966, where Marilyn also played a significant role. In retirement they opened Mimi’s Cafe, where they enjoyed serving countless cups of gourmet coffee and delectable treats to their many loyal customers, whom they also considered to be friends.
