Ramp closure
Starting today, the U.S. Route 30 eastbound ramp to state Route 7 south will close for work related to the ongoing 9th Street bridge replacement project. This closure will be in place for one week. Traffic will continue east on U.S. Route 30 to exit at Jackson Street to return to U.S. 30 east for state Route 7 south.
Trappers workshop
Ohio State Trappers Association will be holding its annual trappers workshop at Highlandtown Wildlife Area at 16760 Spring Valley Road, Salineville on Oct. 25 and 26. To register call Vern Snyder at 330-692-6299.
Chicken dinner
New Garden Methodist Church, 7165 state Route 9, Hanoverton, will hold a woodfired chicken dinner drive thru from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 19. The meal will include half a chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, roll and butter, homemade brownie for $15.
DAHS HOF noms
The Lisbon Alumni Association is accepting nominations for the David Anderson High School Hall of Fame. Nominations must include the name of the nominee, the year of graduation, the nominee’s contact information and reasons the individual should be added to the Hall of Fame. Nominations must be signed by the person submitting the nomination and include contact information. Nominations should be mailed to: Lisbon Alumni Association, P.O. Box 421, Lisbon, OH 44432. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 15, 2025. The induction dinner will be held in late April 2026.
Matilda the Musical
The Columbiana Arts Theater, 5 N. Main St., will present Matilda The Musical at 7 p.m. Oct. 10, 11, 17 and 18, and 2 p.m. Oct. 12 and 19. TQGIBT meeting
That Quilt Group I Belong To (TQGIBT) will meet at 7 p.m.Oct. 21 at The Rotary Building at Fair Park on Oak Street in Canfield. This month’s program will be focused on quilting notions. Bring a favorite notion to praise, a least favorite notion to criticize, or a Mystery notion to find the answer to, “What is this and how is it used?” The kits for Christmas Stockings will be ready and available at this meeting. Guys and Dolls
Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland opens its 2025-2026 Clearview Federal Credit Union Subscription Series Find Your Way! with the comedy classic Guys and Dolls in the MainStage Theater. Family, Friends Day

Bridges hike
Wampum Chapter, North Country Trail Association, will hold a Breaking in the Bridges hike at Beaver Creek State Park at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19. There are new bridges on the trail at Beaver Creek to break in. The group will hike from the parking area over the bridges to the park HQ on the North Country trail and return via the lower vondergreen trail. This hike is over varied terrain so wear sturdy shoes, bring a snack and water. And it is hunting season in the park so wear orange. Roughly 6 miles. SRMC screenings
SALEM — On Saturday, Oct. 25, area residents are invited to learn more about their health by participating in a comprehensive blood screening provided by Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and SRMC Primary Care-Columbiana.
The screening event will take place at SRMC Primary Care in Columbiana, located in the SRMC Surgery and Outpatient Pavilion at Firestone Farms, 400 Town Center Ave.
Comprehensive blood screenings can help to identify many health problems in their early stages, when they are most treatable, and may detect conditions such as high cholesterol, anemia, infections, diabetes and other disorders. Some of the tests included are cholesterol, lipids and triglycerides, red and white blood cells, platelets, electrolytes, enzymes, blood sugar, BUN and creatinine, bilirubin and thyroid function.
Cost of the comprehensive screening is $50. Optional tests available for an additional charge include a prostate specific antigen test for $15; an HgA1c diabetes screening for $30; and a Vitamin D screening for $30. A lipid panel, which measures cholesterol levels and is included in the comprehensive screening, is available as a stand-alone test for $15.

Roxy events
MINERVA — Minerva’s Roxy Theatre presents two shows on Friday, Oct. 17, and Saturday, Oct. 18.
On Oct. 17, Krackpots Comedy Club of Massillon presents Alex Ortiz, one of the fastest rising stars in the comedy world today, at 7:30 p.m.

On Oct. 18, the Roxy welcomes Shadow of a Doubt, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band. Shadow of a Doubt was founded in 2009 and offers the authentic sounds, sights, and vibes of all of Petty’s musical incarnations, including Mudcrutch, the Traveling Wilburys, and his solo work.

The Roxy Theatre is located at 114 N. Market St., Minerva, and is handicap accessible.
Downtown restaurants will be open throughout the evening, and concessions will be available at the theater. The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect, 4-10 p.m. Patrons may purchase beverages in official DORA cups from the Normandy Inn, Stoney Inn, Que Pasa Mexican Restaurant, and Sandy Springs Brewing Company and carry them throughout the designated area, including into the Roxy. No other outside beverages are permitted in the Roxy.
