Minerva Small Business Saturday
On Nov. 29, Minerva will celebrate Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and ensure that communities stay strong and vibrant.
On that day, a wide variety of businesses throughout the village will be offering discounts, giveaways, door prizes, activities, and more. A map of all participating businesses, their hours, and special offers will be available at the businesses and on the Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The first customer at each location will receive a goody bag filled with information and treats.
Participating businesses are: Grinders Above & Beyond, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio ReStore, Kishman’s IGA, Sandy Springs Brewing Company, Walker’s Cafe, Rae’s Jewelry, Market Street Art Spot, Minerva Music Center, Que Pasa, The Komfort Zone, Tropical Paradise Pet Store, Vintage Home by IlluminArt, Market Street Mercantile, Crosspoint Barber Shop, Simply Scarves & Such, The Clever Cookie & Creamery, Art on 30 Gallery & Gift Shop, The Mystical Hollow, Chic Haven Boutique, John’s Bakery & Cafe, The Normandy Inn, Minerva Public Library, Heaven Sent Pies, Heritage at Great Trail, Krackpots Comedy Club, and Tipsy Farmer Winery.
Anyone visiting at least six of the participating businesses, getting his map stamped or signed between Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, and returning it to the Minerva Chamber office by Dec. 12 will be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by Christina at Crosspoint Barber Shop, Minerva Public Library, Heritage Tire & Auto Care, and others.
Patronizing local shops and restaurants, as well as doing business with local financial institutions, farmers and home-based businesses benefits the community in many ways. A greater share of dollars spent in locally owned businesses stays in the local economy – as much as three times more than dollars spent in chain outlets.
Small businesses create local jobs, help to give Minerva its unique character, and build a sense of community. Minerva’s business owners play a huge role in the community’s quality of life, generously supporting schools, athletics, organizations, events, and those in need through fundraisers and donations. They often “do the right thing” even if it does not maximize profit.
