Butler Twp. trustees meetings
The year-end meeting of the Butler Township trustees will be held on Friday, Dec. 26. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the administration room at the township hall. The 2026 reorganization meeting will immediately follow.
Lake Mount Christmas cantata
The Lake Mount Church of Christ choir will be presenting its Christmas cantata Sunday at 6 p.m. and also Wednesday, Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. The church is located at 6290 state Route 7, New Waterford. All are invited to attend.
Banquet in Salem Monday
The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building will be sponsored by the Salem Community Foundation. The menu will include stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. No parking in the library lot. There will be no 4th Thursday Banquet on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. EP Eagles Christmas karaoke
East Palestine Eagles #1506 is hosting an adult only Naughty or Nice Christmas Karaoke on Saturday at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and cost is $10 a person. There will be prizes, special guest appearances and a whole lot of fun. Come and meet the Grinch. Sponsored by EPACT Vibrancy and Hammer N Ink.
OSU Extension-Mahoning, MCSWCD offering AgriSeries
CANFIELD – OSU Extension Mahoning County, in partnership with the Mahoning County Farm Bureau and the Mahoning County Soil & Water Conservation District, will offer AgriSeries, a 2026 Winter Agriculture Series designed to support farmers, landowners, and agricultural professionals across the region
The AgriSeries will feature distinguished speakers addressing timely and practical agricultural topics. Sessions will be held on select Thursdays throughout the winter and early spring, beginning in January. Each session starts at 6 p.m. and will take place at OSU Extension Mahoning County, located at 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.
The 2026 AgriSeries schedule includes: Jan. 22 – Funding Resources, Feb. 26 – Farm Succession Planning, March 26 – Local Foods and Farm Markets and April 23 – Invasive Species and Woodland Timber Management.
Each session costs $5 per person.

The featured speaker for the Jan. 22 session will be Jill Ritchie, County Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency. Ritchie will discuss funding programs currently available to farmers that support agricultural projects and farm operations, including Farm Storage Facility Loans and other financial assistance opportunities.
PreventT2 Lifestyle Change
Program returns in 2026
In response to strong community demand, OSU Extension – Mahoning County will again offer the PreventT2 Lifestyle Change Program beginning Jan. 28. The year-long CDC-approved course helps individuals at risk for type 2 diabetes make long-term changes to improve their health.
The program meets weekly on Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. at the OSU Extension office, 490 S. Broad St. in Canfield, and runs through April 29 before transitioning into monthly maintenance sessions. Topics include healthy eating, portion control, stress management, staying motivated and adding physical activity into daily routines.
“Being part of a supportive group can make all the difference,” said LuAnn Duncan, Family and Consumer Sciences educator. “Participants gain tools for better health and support from others working toward the same goals.”
