Fredricksons donate to the SHSAA

Salem High School Alumni Association Named Grants provide donors with the opportunity to establish perpetual grants that support a specific educational goal within Salem City Schools. A gift of $10,000 or more creates a permanent fund, with 5% of the principal (typically $500 annually) distributed each year to support the designated purpose. A check presentation was recently made to the Salem High School Alumni Association as Drs. Austin and Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Fredrickson, both members of the SHS Class of 2008, generously donated $10,000 in the fall of 2025 to endow the Kelly Janofa K-8 Gifted and Talented Education Grant. Annual proceeds from this fund will empower teachers with the resources needed to create challenging and engaging learning opportunities for gifted and talented students. Kelly Finch Janofa, a 1983 SHS alumna, is a retired teacher who served the Salem district for 32 years. Her tenure included 10 years teaching gifted and talented students in grades 4-8.
