Columbiana Library book sale

The Friends of Columbiana Library Book Sale is Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. First pick is from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday with a $5 admission per person. The remaining time is free admission. Prices are $1 for adult hardcovers. All DVDs and CDs are $1. Paperbacks are 50 cents. Children’s and Y.A. books are 25 cents or five for $1. No bag sale and no free books afterwards.

SRMC Look Nook book fair

The Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Look Nook Gift Shop’s Book Fair will feature a wide selection of books and seasonal items at discounted prices. The event will take place April 2 and 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the Look Nook, located next to the cafeteria on the hospital’s ground floor. For information, call 330-332-7252.

Lisbon hydrant flushing

The Lisbon Water Department will conduct the annual flushing of fire hydrants beginning Monday, March 30 and continuing through April 30. Flushing will start on the east side of town continuing west. Water customers may notice short periods of lower pressure, and some discoloration is possible in and around the areas where the work is occurring. Lepper Library activities

LISBON — The Lepper Library in Lisbon will host several upcoming events.

Weekly Storytimes: Moving and Grooving Class Time: Tuesdays at 10 a.m. This Storytime is geared toward babies and toddlers. Come sing songs, listen to a story, and play. Older siblings are welcome to join in also. Preschool Story Hour Class Time: Tuesdays at 11 a.m. The group will sing songs, listen to stories, and make crafts. Stay and play after the program. Geared toward children 3-5 but younger and older siblings are welcome.

March Scavenger Hunt Search for The Cat in the Hat plushie. He is hiding throughout the library and will surely get himself in trouble if he is not found. Once you have spotted him, report his location to the Circulation Desk and you will receive a small prize and an entry into the drawing for The Cat in the Hat book and the plushie.

Puzzle Challenge Date: Saturday, March 28 Class Time: 1 to 3 p.m. Sign up for this puzzle competition and work independently or with a team to complete a 200-piece puzzle. Everyone will have the same spring themed puzzle and will race to put it together first. This event is geared toward school age children and teens. Sign up required.

April Craft Class Pincushion Jar Kit Date: Thursday, April 9 Class times: Choice of 5 to 6 or 6 to 7 p.m. Sign-up starts: Thursday, March 26. Join the library for a sewing project where you can craft something unique to keep or gift. Barb Ullman and Kelli Miller donated materials for this month’s craft.

Writers’ Group, Adult Craft Classes, Adult Hour and Moving and Grooving Preschool Storytime are all made possible in part by state tax dollars given by the Ohio Legislature to the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio Communities culturally, educationally, and economically.

Rodman Library upcoming events

ALLIANCE – Rodman Public Library is offering several upcoming activities.

– Rodman Public Library will host a movie matinee in the Main Auditorium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. The feature will be a 2025 animated adventure comedy that is based on a television series and features a relentlessly cheerful sea sponge and his ever-optimistic best friend who set off on a colorful underwater adventure when an unexpected crisis sends them far from their familiar seaside home. Along the way, they encounter quirky sea creatures, wild obstacles, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments as they work together to set things right. (Due to licensing agreements, the library cannot publicly state the title of the film in mainstream media, but it is stated on rodmanlibrary.com ). The film, which is rated PG, runs 1 hour and 28 minutes. All movies are free at RPL and fresh popcorn is provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is not required. All ages are welcome to attend, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

– Youth, ages 10 to 18, are invited to gain some culinary confidence on Thursday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m. when Rodman Public Library hosts Kitchen Knife Skills for Tweens and Teens in the Main Auditorium. Participants will learn how to safely utilize knives in the kitchen in a class taught by Elizabeth Schweigert, an educator from Central State University Extension – Northeast Region. While learning these new skills, the kids will use a recipe to assemble Southwest bowls. All ingredients and supplies will be provided fee of charge, but space is limited and registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com. For information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 217.

– Rodman Branch Library’s Hot Pots Storytime will have an Easter theme in April. Children, ages 2-12, are invited to come to the RPL Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint an Easter egg box craft. Glitter paints will be used so that the finished project will be able to be taken home that day and enjoyed over the holiday. Two sessions will be held, including Wednesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. and another on Saturday, April 4 at 11 a.m. The cost is $15.99 per child and registration is required. The fee for the event is payable to Hot Pots upon registration at hotpotspottery.com.

– Children, ages 3-5, and their caregivers are invited to attend a spring session of Storytime at the Rodman Branch Library on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. between April 9 and May 14. Storytime sessions are intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement and activities.
