Banquet in Salem

The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building will be sponsored by Melvin and Virginia Wilms and Family. The menu will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. Celebrating Seniors

First Presbyterian Church, 28 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, is hosting a free Celebrating Seniors Lunch from noon to 2 p.m. April 23. The luncheon will feature a hot dog bar. The presentation will be by Our Farm Skin Care. Cathi RaubCarney will discuss her Organic and Holistic Skin Care, and her products will be available for purchase. OSU Extension’s ‘Eat Good, Feel Good’

Community members looking to improve their health and wellness are invited to attend the “Eat Good, Feel Good” educational series hosted by Ohio State University Extension.

This free, three-session program will take place on May 6, May 13, and May 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at Bunker Hill Methodist Church.

The series focuses on simple, practical ways to improve daily eating habits and overall well-being. Participants will learn easy, realistic strategies to make healthier food choices that fit their lifestyles.

“What you eat matters–and it can change how you feel every day,” organizers emphasize. Attendees are encouraged to participate in all three sessions to gain the most benefit, including tips, tricks, and ideas they can apply immediately.

OSU Extension Free Garden Speaker Series

OSU Extension Mahoning County, in partnership with Flying High, will host a Free Garden Speaker Series designed to educate community members on gardening techniques and food preparation using homegrown ingredients. The series will take place throughout the spring and summer months at 100 Broadway Avenue in Youngstown.

Each session will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and will provide participants with hands-on learning opportunities focused on growing, maintaining, and utilizing garden produce. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sample simple dishes prepared with ingredients highlighted in each session.

The 2026 session topics include:

April 30 – Stir-Fry Garden

May 14 – One-Pot Garden (Container Gardening)

June 25 – Healthy Soulful Garden

July 23 – Grow Your Own BBQ Seasonings

Aug.13 – Pickling Garden Favorites

The program is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to dress for outdoor conditions, as sessions will be held rain or shine. Seating will be provided. In the event of severe weather, cancellations will be announced by 10 a.m. on the Mahoning County Extension Facebook page.
