Salem Historical Society to host pen house Saturday
SALEM — Salem Historical Society will host an open house on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Guests are invited to enter through the Pearce House at 208 S. Broadway Ave. and explore the entire campus free of charge.
Visitors will have access to all displays, complimentary light refreshments, and a gift shop filled with unique Salem treasures and exclusive America250 souvenirs.
Two new displays are being featured.
— Take a historical look back at 1976 with the unveiling of items from the Liberty Centre 50-year Time Capsule. A special video presentation will bring Salem’s Bicentennial celebration to life through historic photos and memorabilia.
— The Grand Theatre commissioned painting is now on display. Be among the first to see a stunning new large-scale painting of the Grand Theatre’s interior, created by local artist Amanda Huk. Meet the artist in person and hear the story behind this long-envisioned project, brought to life through the dedication of community volunteers, David Shivers, Bill Ward, and Joy Cable.
The Salem Historical Society is one of the community’s valued asset, created and supported by local people, entirely volunteer-run and dedicated to preserving the stories that make Salem unique. First-time visitors are often amazed by the size of the campus and the depth of its exhibits.
— Open House will continue the first and third Sundays, May through October, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is always free for members; non-members are $6 per adult during the regular season.
