Salty Mama’s celebrates 2 years in Salem
SALEM — Salty Mama’s Snacking Boards is commemorating two years in Salem.
Salty Mama’s Co-Owner Calvin Marshall said the story of Salty Mama’s Snacking Boards LLC began three years ago with his wife and Co-Owner Heather Marshall participating in vendor shows and running a location in Columbiana with a partner.
That initial location operated for a year, and after it closed, the business relocated to its current location at 657 E. State St., Unit Six, inside Courtyard Square.
Now operated by Heather, Calvin, and Heather’s son Brandon Hensley, Monday marked two years to the day since Salty Mama’s opened its doors to the Salem community, which Calvin said has embraced them with open arms.
“We hoped the community would be welcoming, and our first year was better than we could have imagined, and our second year was even better than that,” said Calvin.
To celebrate the anniversary and thank the community for its support, Salty Mama’s is holding a two-day celebration which began on Monday and will continue today. The celebration includes free samples of their most-loved treats, store-wide discounts, and giveaways for 20 prizes including gift cards and a prize basket packed with sweets.
Additionally, 10% of all proceeds are being donated to local nonprofit The Brightside Project to support its ongoing work to support and inspire children in need throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Calvin said that his relationship with The Brightside Project began nine years ago when he donated toys to the nonprofit, and that after seeing their work first-hand, he began to volunteer for them regularly.
