Spring wildflower workshop

Herb’s Acres Farm and Greenhouse Owner Sophia Sorboro taught patrons at the Salem Public Library how to properly identify northeast Ohio’s native Spring wildflower species Monday. Sorboro taught attendees about plant anatomy and leaf types, blooming and senescence periods and the preferred growing environments of a wide range of wildflowers including favorites like the more than 20 variants of native violets, and Virginia bluebells, and more unique local flora like Jack in the pulpit, and wild ginger. Each attendee also received a free spring wildflower field guide and a checklist of all Ohio’s native wildflower species. (Photo by Morgan Ahart)
