West Township Memorial Association Memorial Day service
MOULTRIE — The West Township Memorial Association will host its Memorial Day service at 2 p.m. Monday at Moultrie Chapel, state Route 172, Moultrie. The chapel is located 2 miles east of New Franklin, north of Minerva (23577 state Route 172, Minerva). The program inside the Chapel will include speaker Ken Bandy from Knox Township on “The Story Beneath the Stone.” While honoring and remembering all who have died in America’s conflicts, Bandy will tell the story of a young man from Lynchburg in West Township, who was killed in action at the Battle of Murfreesboro, Tenn., during the Civil War, and is buried at Moultrie Cemetery. Attending veterans will be recognized.
The CAT to host “Ohio Goes to the Movies” screening of Little Giants
COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Arts Theater will participate in the statewide Ohio Goes to the Movies initiative with a special free community screening of the family film Little Giants at 7 p.m. Friday. The free tickets can be reserved at www.AtTheCAT.com.
Part of a statewide celebration highlighting Ohio’s rich contributions to the film industry both in front of and behind the camera, this special event is one of more than 250 screenings taking place across the state.
Guests are invited to experience an evening filled with nostalgia, community spirit, and family-friendly entertainment at The CAT, located in the heart of downtown Columbiana. Admission is free, but tickets are required.
In addition to the screening, attendees can expect a fun and energetic atmosphere complete with Youngstown State University Mascots Pete and Penny and special guest Michael Wells, all-conference linebacker at YSU will address the crowd.
“Ohio has played an important role in the film industry for generations, and we are excited to bring our community together to celebrate that legacy through a movie that families have loved for years,” said Katy Mumaw marketing director at The CAT. “Events like this showcase the power of the arts to connect communities and create lasting memories.”
