On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 a “Toast to the Post” honoring deceased veterans will be held at 9 a.m. at VFW Post 5532, Washingtonville. The parade will form at Jim Santini Builders lot on School Street in Washingtonville and begin at 10 a.m., proceeding to the Veterans Memorial at VFW Post 5532. The Leetonia High School band, under the direction of Randy Rodik, will participate. Local youth and civic organization are invited to join the parade.

At the commemoration, the keynote speaker will be Lt. Col. David Andrew Tancer from the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.

Following the service, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial at Wick Park in Leetonia then at Oakdale Cemetery in Leetonia at the gravesite on Medal of Honor recipient Ralph E. Dias.

The Memorial Day activities are sponsored by York Drexler Post 5532, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Washingtonville and Joe Williams Post 131, American Legion. Luncheons will be served at both locations following the program.
