Columbiana County Health District promotes Men’s Health Month with PSA screening clinic
LISBON — In recognition of Men’s Health Month this June, the Columbiana County Health District is encouraging men to take an active role in their health by offering Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screenings through a special clinic.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, and early detection can play an important role in successful treatment outcomes. Men’s Health Month serves as a reminder for men to prioritize preventive care, schedule recommended screenings, and discuss their health concerns with a healthcare provider.
The PSA screening clinic will be held by appointment only on Tuesday, June 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Columbiana County Health District office, 7360 state Route 45. To schedule a screening, call 330-424-0272, ext. 114.
Screenings are free or residents of the General Health District. A $25 cash fee applies to participants living outside the General Health District (including the cities of Salem and East Liverpool) or outside Columbiana County.
The American Cancer Society recommends annual PSA screenings for men age 50 and older, African American men beginning at age 45 due to an increased risk of prostate cancer and men with a family history of prostate cancer beginning at age 45.
