Volunteers sought for Columbiana park clean up
The Firestone Park, Cultural and Custodial Committee, a 501c3 organization, is putting a call out to the community for volunteers to help plant the 61 different varieties of bushes and plantings that are going in to the park through the month of June. Volunteers can meet at the Spring Garden at the far end of the pool parking lot at 9 a.m. and work will go on until 3 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Water will be provided. Just look for a green truck or a red Jeep and get connected with the workers who are planting all of these special new bushes, which will make the park into almost an Arboretum. Grab a small hand trowel or shovel and come help make the city park more beautiful. For more information, call 330-397-4706 or stop in at the Firestone Legacy and Visitor Center, located next to the main entrance to the park. Legacy Center hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday by appointment.
