Banquet in Salem
The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building, sponsored by Ray and Patricia Wagner in honor of Carolyn and Ray Wagner. The menu will include meatloaf, augratin potatoes, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. The Columbiana Arts Theater presents Dinner Theatre Rejects Adult Summer Improv Camp showcase
COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Arts Theater (The CAT) invites the community to experience an evening of laughter, creativity, and spontaneous entertainment as participants from the Dinner Theatre Rejects Adult Summer Improv Camp take the stage for a special live performance on Friday at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
After a week of training, collaboration, and creative exploration, 20 adult campers will showcase their newfound improvisational skills alongside professional performers in a one-night-only performance. Audiences can expect fast-paced comedy, unexpected moments, and plenty of audience-inspired fun as performers demonstrate the confidence, teamwork, and quick-thinking abilities developed throughout the camp experience.
Designed for adults looking to explore creativity, build confidence, and connect with others through theater, the Dinner Theatre Rejects Summer Adult Camp provides a supportive and engaging environment where participants discover the joy of improvisation and live performance.

The Columbiana Arts Theater presents You Can’t Take It With You
COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Arts Theater (The CAT) will present You Can’t Take It With You July 10, 11 and 12. Tickets are available at AtTheCAT.com.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, You Can’t Take It With You is a comedy that celebrates family, individuality and the pursuit of happiness. The story follows the Sycamore family, whose unconventional lifestyle collides with the wealthy and conservative Kirby family when young love brings the two worlds together.
“This play has charmed audiences for generations because its message is as relevant today as it was nearly a century ago,” said Katy Mumaw, Marketing & Executive Director of The CAT. “At its heart, You Can’t Take It With You is a celebration of family, laughter, and finding happiness on your own terms. Learn the Art of Homemade Preserves at OSU Extension’s Jam & Jelly Canning Class
CANFIELD – Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County is inviting community members to discover the basics of making and safely preserving homemade jams and jellies during a hands-on canning class on Friday, June 26.
The Jam & Jelly Canning Class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the OSU Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. This beginner-friendly workshop will teach participants the fundamentals of water bath canning, including proper equipment, food safety practices, and step-by-step techniques for creating delicious homemade preserves.
Whether participants are new to canning or looking to refresh their skills, this class will provide research-based guidance to help ensure safe and successful food preservation at home.
The cost to attend is $10 per person, and pre-registration is required. Registration is available online at go.osu.edu/canningclass.
In addition to the class, OSU Extension will offer a Pressure Canner Gauge Testing Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. the same day. This free service allows home canners to have their pressure canner dial gauges tested for accuracy. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends annual gauge testing to ensure safe food preservation practices, as inaccurate gauges can result in under- or over-processing of foods.
No registration is required for pressure gauge testing.

OSU Extension and Flying High invite community to free garden speaker series
YOUNGSTOWN – Gardeners, food enthusiasts and community members are invited to attend the next session in the Free Garden Speaker Series, a partnership between Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County and Flying High Inc.
The upcoming program, Healthy Soulful Garden, will be held on Thursday, June 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 100 Broadway Ave., Youngstown.
Participants will learn how to grow and care for vegetables and herbs commonly used in flavorful, nutritious meals while exploring ways to incorporate fresh garden ingredients into healthy cooking. Attendees will also enjoy food demonstrations and tasting samples featuring seasonal produce.
The Healthy Soulful Garden program is part of a five-session educational series designed to help residents gain confidence in gardening, food preparation, and healthy eating. Throughout the series, participants learn practical gardening techniques, discover new ways to use fresh produce, and connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts.

— July 23 – Grow Your Own BBQ Seasonings
— Aug. 13 – Pickling Garden Favorites
Each session combines research-based gardening education with cooking inspiration, allowing participants to learn how to grow fresh ingredients and transform them into delicious dishes at home.
The series is free and open to the public. Classes are held rain or shine, and seating is available. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for outdoor activities.
