SWCD and OSU Extension plan Forestry Field Night
The Columbiana County OSU Extension and the Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) are collaborating on a Forestry Field Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Leetonia Sportsman’s Club, located at 311 E. High St., Leetonia. The event includes presentations and hands-on discussions ranging from oak and timber stand management, invasive species prevention, and forestry health principles. Speakers John Beilhart, Columbiana SWCD Forestry and Wildlife Specialist, and Jim Downs, OSU Extension Forestry Field Specialist, will lead the program. Lepper Library board to discuss parking lot improvements
The Lepper Library in Lisbon wii hold a Building Committee special board meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday to consider parking lot improvements. The regular monthly board meeting will be held directly after at 4:30 p.m. at the Lepper Library Conference Room.
OSU Extension Mahoning County announces Summer/Fall 2026 ServSafe® Manager Certification courses
CANFIELD — Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County is offering ServSafe® Manager Certification training courses throughout 2026 for food service professionals seeking Level II Food Protection Manager Certification required by the Ohio Department of Health.
The ServSafe® program provides accurate, up-to-date information on safe food handling practices at every stage of food service operations — from receiving and storing food to preparing and serving meals. Upon successful completion of the course and examination, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from ServSafe® and a Certification in Food Protection from the Ohio Department of Health.
This course is designed for food service managers and food handlers working in restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, school food service operations, and civic organizations that prepare food for sale or consumption. The training meets Ohio Department of Health standards for Level II Food Protection Manager Certification as outlined in Ohio Revised Code 3701-21-25.

August Session
— Aug. 10 & 17
— Class: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Exam: Aug. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m.
September Session
— Sept. 14 & 21
— Class: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Exam: Sept. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m.
November/December Session
— Nov. 30 & Dec. 7
— Class: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Exam: Dec. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The cost is $200 per participant and includes course instruction, training materials, and the certification exam. Cash, check, and credit card payments are accepted.
Participants must register no later than three business days before the class begins, and payment must be received prior to the training. Attendees must bring a valid photo ID and their own No. 2 pencils for the exam. Personal items must remain in participants’ vehicles during testing.
Lunch will be on your own each day.
Participants must attend the entire training on both class days to be eligible to take the certification exam. Individuals who do not pass the exam on their first attempt may retake the exam for a $50 fee.
