Goshen Township trustees schedule special meeting for Friday

The Goshen Township trustees have called a special meeting Friday. Trustee Teresa Stratton announced Monday evening that the board of trustees will be convening for a special meeting at 4 p.m. Friday at the township administration building. Stratton said the trustees would discuss a possible equipment purchase and corresponding adjustments to the township’s budget. Stratton also announced that the trustees will host a public hearing for input on Goshen Township’s proposed 2027 tax budget at 5:30 p.m. July 14, immediately prior to their regular meeting for July at 6 p.m.

East Palestine Amateur Radio Club to hold Field Day the weekend

Family Garden Fun for All Ages: A Hands-on Fairy Garden Workshop with OSU Extension

The Columbiana County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers invite community members to step into their creative side at an upcoming Fairy Garden Make & Take Workshop on Tuesday, July 14 at 6 p.m. at Salem Waterworth Park (Pavilion #8).

This hands-on class offers participants the opportunity to design and build their very own fairy garden — complete with tiny houses, whimsical furniture, miniature landscapes, and magical details.

Led by experienced Master Gardener Volunteers, the workshop will guide participants through the basics of fairy garden design and construction. No prior experience is needed, making this program perfect for beginners and families.

The cost to attend is $25 per participant, which includes instruction and materials to create and take home a personalized fairy garden. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County Offers “Build Your Bones” Educational Series

Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County is inviting community members to participate in Build Your Bones, a four-week educational series focused on improving and maintaining bone health.

Offered in collaboration with University of Florida, this educational program will provide practical information on protecting bone health through nutrition, movement, and prevention strategies. Participants will gain valuable tools to support lifelong wellness and reduce the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

Topics throughout the series include:

— Osteoporosis and diagnostic testing

— Healthy eating strategies and nutrients that support strong bones

— Medications that promote bone health

— Fall prevention and safe physical activity to improve strength and balance

A special guest presentation will be provided by Andrea Nikolai, Registered Dietitian and Family & Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, who will discuss the nutrients essential for bone health and the important role nutrition plays in building and maintaining strong bones.

The series will be held on Mondays, June 29, July 6, July 20, and July 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.

The cost to attend is $20 for all four sessions.
