SALEM – Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) recognized Steve Skodzinsky as its first TULIP Award winner. The TULIP (Thoughtful, Unforgettable, Lasting Impact on Patient Care) Award was established to acknowledge and celebrate SRMC team members who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care and service.
Skodzinsky, Plant Operations Biomedical/Communications manager, was nominated by an SRMC co-worker. He is responsible for conducting routine safety inspections and maintenance of electrical medical equipment used to provide patient care.
His nominator wrote, “Steve exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond, and his dedication reaches far beyond the expectations of his daily responsibilities. Whether he is repairing medical equipment to ensure safe, high-quality patient care or helping staff with unexpected challenges, he approaches every situation with urgency, kindness and an incredible willingness to help. His reliability and selflessness are truly unmatched.”
“Steve is an essential part of our hospital team, and we are proud to celebrate the extraordinary service he provides to support our staff and ensure our patients receive the best care possible,” said Jackie Boyle, SRMC Vice President of Human Resources.
Skodzinsky was one of nine SRMC staff members nominated for this quarter’s award by patients, their families or co-workers.
“The TULIP Award was the idea of SRMC employee Jodylynn Rolla, a respiratory therapist, to highlight the ways our team members make a difference,” Boyle continued. “Patients, visitors, co-workers and physicians who experience or observe extraordinary care by an SRMC team member are invited to nominate that individual for a TULIP Award. Any staff member is eligible for this recognition.”
TULIP Award nominations may be emailed to TulipAward@salemregional.com. Nominators should include their name and contact information, the nominee’s name, area where the staff member works and how he or she made a meaningful impact. Nomination forms are also available outside of SRMC’s cafeteria.
“In addition to the TULIP Award, Salem Regional Medical Center participates in the DAISY Award Program to recognize outstanding nurses who demonstrate outstanding clinical skills and compassionate care,” Boyle added.
