Annual SHS Alumni Weekend celebration to coincide with Freed Fest and Nurture Maker’s Market Aug. 7-9

SALEM -- The Salem High School Alumni Association will sponsor the annual SHS Alumni Weekend celebration Aug. 7, 8, and 9, coinciding with the 2026 Freed Fest and Nature and Nurture Maker's Market in downtown Salem. Several classes will be celebrating their class reunions with special events at different locations. On Friday night at McCulloch Park in the downtown, SHS alumnus Joe Rottenborn from the Class of 1966 will present an "Old Time Favorites" concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Salem's newest SHS alumnus, Logan Bricker from the Class of 2026, will then perform guitar music from 8 until 9 p.m.
On Saturday, SHSAA is sponsoring an Open House from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, and a raffle will be held. Visitors are invited to stop into the office to view the new Salem City Schools mural that was recently painted and donated by the SHS Class of 1976 in honor of their 50th year class reunion. Local artist Anissa DiLeo of The Studio of Fine Arts by Anissa DiLeo painted the beautiful rendition of historical Salem school buildings.
On Sunday evening, the Summer Concert Series at Waterworth Memorial Park will feature SHS Alumni Night. Salem alumni and friends are encouraged to attend the concert by "New Wave Nation" that will begin at 6 p.m. A classic "Cars of the Decades" car show will also be a part of the evening's festivities. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs and Salem graduates are asked to wear red and black.
