Washingtonville VFW to meet Sept. 10
VFW Post 5532, Washingtonville, will be holding its next monthly regular members meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 10. The meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. all regular members of VFW Post 5532, Washingtonville, are encouraged to attend.
Butler Township trustees change meeting date
The Butler Township trustees will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in the administration room at the township hall. The change of date is due to the Labor Day holiday.
Patrol plans OVI sobriety checkpoint this week
The Ohio State Highway Patrol will operate an OVI checkpoint to deter and intercept impaired drivers this week. The county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint, and the location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint. If planning to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before drinking. Operational support for the sobriety checkpoint will be provided by local law enforcement agencies.
EP Eagles stuffed chicken breast dinner
East Palestine Eagles #1506 will host their monthly stuffed chicken breast drive thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Dinner is a stuffed chicken breast, baked potato, vegetable and roll for $11. Call 330-853-8483 to reserve a meal.
Beaver Local HS Class of '95 reunion
The Beaver Local High School Class of 1995 will hold a potluck reunion picnic from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Rogers Community Park (beside Roger's Feed Mill on Depot Street). This will be a free, family friendly event. Bring a dish to share; no alcohol. Donations of paper products, utensils, bottled water and other supplies are being accepted. Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center presents Disney's Frozen
MIDLAND - Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland opens its 2026-2027 Clearview Federal Credit Union Subscription Series "For The First Time In Forever!" with Disney's Frozen, presented in the MainStage Theater Friday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 4 and Friday, Oct. 9 to Sunday, Oct. 11. This season marks Lincoln Park's 20th Anniversary and will feature a schedule of classic shows and family favorites. In 2019, Lincoln Park brought audiences the Frozen Jr. adaptation, and now will present the fully realized Broadway musical, telling the story of Elsa and Anna. Filled with breathtaking magic, timeless music, heartwarming humor, and beloved characters, like Kristoff, Sven, and everyone's favorite snowman, Olaf, Frozen is a powerful celebration of sisterhood, acceptance, and discovering the true meaning of love. Falconry Program at Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
The Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, 12798 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, will be open this weekend, Sept. 5 and 6, from 1 to 5 p.m. each day for visitors.
On Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. the Ohio School of Falconry will be there for a program on their birds. Attending the program is free and no registration is needed. Participants will need to bring a chair or something for sitting on the ground as the program will take place in the front yard of the center. Participants will be able to put their name on a paper and into a jar if they would like. Ten names will be drawn at the end of the program and those people will be able to have one of the birds fly to their arm (must be at least 9 years old to do this). Visitors will be able to take photos of the birds as they fly. Joe Dorian from the School of Falconry will share lots of fun information about each of the birds. This program is good for all ages.
On Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Mary Spooner will be in the Ohio Room doing a fun activity called "Wetland Metaphores" and in the classroom visitors can look at things under the microscopes.
All programs at the Wildlife Education Center are free to attend unless noted otherwise. The Wildlife Center is run entirely by volunteers with no funding from the state.
