Friends of the Banquet will sponsor Labor Day Banquet in Salem
The Dine In or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building, sponsored by Friends of the Banquet. The menu will include fried chicken, diced potatoes with onions and peppers, corn, coleslaw, fresh vegetables and fruit, pudding. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. Skin cancer screening scheduled for Sept. 16
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Health District will be hosting their last skin cancer screening in 2026 on Wednesday, Sept. 16. The clinic is accepting patients by appointment only. The screening will be held at the Health District located at: 7360 state Route 45.
A local physician will staff the clinic and there will be no charge for residents of the General Health District to be screened. Those attending who live outside of the General Health District (Salem and East Liverpool cities) or outside of Columbiana County will be charged $5, which must be paid in cash, for the skin cancer screening service.

Ohio Open Doors Event: "A Taste of Colonial America"
The Upper Ohio Valley Museum and Learning Center at the Lou Holtz Hall of Fame and the Museum of Ceramics will be participating in a special Ohio Open Doors program, "A Taste of Colonial America," on Sunday, Sept. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. Visitors will be invited to step back in time and experience the foods, flavors and traditions of early American life.
Participants will be able to sample different foods, drinks and desserts from the colonial time period while also getting to experience everything that the two museums have to offer. The program will explore what people ate and how food was prepared during America's early years before modern conveniences changed the way Americans prepared and enjoyed their meals.
This event is part of the Ohio Open Doors, a statewide celebration that encourages Ohioans to explore historic places in their backyards. As part of the Open Doors program, admission to both museums will be free on that day.
