Columbiana High School Class of '61 lunch canceled
Columbiana High School Class of 1961 has canceled the lunch gathering for September. The date of the monthy luncheon at the American Legion conflicts with the set-up activity for the annual Street Fair that week. The October luncheon will retrm to the usual schedule of the second Wednesday of each month.
Tamburitzans to appear in free concert at Columbiana High School
The Tamburitzans, a folk dance and music ensemble that has performed nationally and internationally for over 80 years, will perform a free concert for the community on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Columbiana High School Auditorium, 700 Columbiana-Waterford Road. Named for the historic folk musical instrument, the Tamburitza, the program will take the audience around the world celebrating the culture of Eastern Europe with authentic music, intricate dances and colorful costumes. Admission and parking is free. No tickets are required and the doors open at 2 p.m. Signs will direct visitors to the parking area and entrance. The concert is being sponsored by the Firestone Park Cultural and Custodial Committee, a 501(c) 3 organization. CAA HEAP Summer Crisis runs through Sept. 30
LISBON -- Community Action Agency's HEAP Summer Crisis Program (SCP) runs through Sept. 30. Appointments for the HEAP Summer Crisis may be made by calling the automated phone service at 330-892-8880. The Summer Crisis Program assists low-income households with an older household member (60 years or older) or households that can provide medical documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member's health. This year, households that have a disconnect notice, have been shut off, or are trying to establish new electric service are eligible.
The HEAP Summer Crisis Program allows for a one-time electric utility payment for eligible households. This assistance must result in the continuation of electric service for at least 30 days. Clients may receive an air conditioner and/or fan(s), or central air conditioning unit repairs. The client must be at least partially responsible for their electric bill to obtain Summer Crisis assistance. Eligible households can receive up to $500 in electric assistance if they are a customer of a regulated electric utility or up to $800 in electric assistance if they are a customer of unregulated electric utilities, such as cooperatives and municipal utilities. Applications for PIPP, HEAP, and Summer Crisis can be filled out online at www.energyhelp.ohio.gov. For information and assistance call 330-424-4013. The agency will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day.
