Friends of the Banquet to sponsor Banquet in Salem
The Dine In or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building, sponsored by Friends of the Banquet. The menu will include penne pasta and meatballs, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. No parking in the library lot. Mahoning County Bar Association Foundation to host Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini for speaker series
YOUNGSTOWN, -- The Mahoning County Bar Association Foundation will welcome Youngstown's own Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, former world lightweight boxing champion, as the featured speaker for its Fifth Annual Speaker Series on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. at the DeYor Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public; however, registration is required through the DeYor Performing Arts Center website.
A Youngstown native, Mancini became one of boxing's most recognizable champions and has remained closely connected to the Mahoning Valley throughout his career. The evening will give the community an opportunity to hear from Mancini as he reflects on his life, career and experiences in and beyond the ring.
Salem Civil Service Commission meeting
The City of Salem, Ohio Civil Service Commission will be meeting on Monday, Sept. 14, at 11:15 a.m. to consider establishing additional civil service protocols on all future selection of chiefs of police and fire for the City of Salem. This meeting will take place at Salem City Hall, 231 S. Broadway Ave., in the 2nd floor conference room.
The Columbiana Arts Theater launches Artist Signature Series with Lori Reighn Matta
The Columbiana Arts Theater (CAT) will host the debut performance of its new Artist Signature Series, featuring singer-songwriter Lori Reighn Matta as the series' first headlining artist. "You Are My Song: Live!" will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. at The Columbiana Arts Theater, 5 N. Main St. Information regarding tickets and venue details can be found at www.atthecat.com.
The special concert will showcase several of Matta's popular favorites along with new material, brought to life onstage with the accompaniment of talented live orchestral musicians. As the inaugural performance of the CAT's Artist Signature Series, the evening is designed to offer audiences an intimate and memorable concert experience while celebrating the artistry and original music of a featured performer.
The concert also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for The Columbiana Arts Theater as it launches the Artist Signature Series, created to spotlight distinctive artists and provide audiences with exceptional live musical experiences in the heart of Columbiana.
