New York City Bus trip planned for Dec. 12
Attila Samu, choral director for Salem High School, will be providing another bus trip to New York City. This is his 13th annual trip to the city that he has coordinated. This trip is for any age; however, those under 21 must be accompanied by an adult.
The charter bus will depart from Salem High School's back parking lot on Friday, Dec. 11 at 11 p.m. and arrive at the Rockefeller Christmas tree and the "Today" show at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning, Dec. 12. There will be at least two stops before getting into the city for people to freshen up. Once there, participants are free to tour the city at their leisure. The passengers will board the bus around 9 p.m. that evening and return to Salem by 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
Seats are assigned to keep family and friends together and maps are provided to show points of interest around the city and where the bus will pick us up for the return trip home. Reservation forms may be picked up and dropped off, along with a check or cash to either the Salem High School office on Sixth Street or the Salem Computer Center on Second Street. The cost is $159 per person. The price also includes the bus driver's gratuity. All sales are final. For information or reservations call Samu's office at 330-332-8905 ext. 58332.
Friends of Columbiana Library Book Sale Sept. 18 and 19
The Friends of Columbiana Public Library are having a book sale on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The presale is on Friday and costs $5 per person. Saturday is free. Hardcovers, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks are $1 each. Paperbacks are 50 cents each. Children's and Y.A. books are five for $1 or 25 cents each. Pamphlet cookbooks are also five for $1 or 25 cents each. This mega book sale has tons of new DVDs, history, art, fiction, mystery, romance, hobbies, and biographies. Cash only. On Monday, Sept. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m.; all remaining materials are free for the taking. Bring own boxes. All leftovers go to a shredder. All proceeds fund the programs and speakers offered at the Columbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St. The next book sale will be on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5. Free admission on both days.
East Palestine garden club seeking homes for Christmas tour
The East Palestine Town and Country Garden Club is looking for homeowners who would love to share the magic of their home decorated for Christmas during its Annual Christmas Home Tour on Nov. 13 and 14. The home doesn't have to be large or fancy--it can be small, large, old, new, rustic, traditional, or modern. The club simply wants to showcase the unique beauty and Christmas spirit of homes in the community. The money raised through the annual home tour helps us keep the community beautiful and welcoming all year long.
