Hunston Road to close for bridge replacement

Beginning Tuesday Hunston Road in Unity Township will be closed to all traffic between Main Street and state Route 558/Bacon Avenue for 150 days for a bridge replacement. Local access will be open either side of the bridge project. Follow the posted detour route at the bridge site. BOG Construction Inc. of Berlin Center will complete the $870,030 project with Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio Public Works Commission and local funds. Construction is expected to end Feb. 19.

Salem Music Study Club to learn about Dolly Parton

The Salem Music Study Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the basement of the parlor of the educational building on 244 S. Broadway Ave. There will be a meeting followed by a program held by Jeff Davis on the life and passing of Dolly Parton. Refreshments will be held, guests and members are welcome to attend. Information about the upcoming festival and upcoming events are always shared. The club is a member of the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs and the National Federation of Music Clubs.

Columbiana concert moved to high school

Because of the weather forecast for Sunday, the concert by the Das Und Kraut Polka Band as part of the Idabelle Firestone Fall Concert Series, has been moved from Firestone Park to Columbiana High School. Admission and parking is free and doors open at 2 p.m. This uplifting group of musicians will play favorite songs featuring the iconic "oom-pah" rhythms of polka music, as well as Octoberfest music in their repertoire. An added attraction at this concert will be a performance by music scholar Harrison Hodgson, playing a piano selection. The concert series is being sponsored by the Firestone Park Cultural and Custodial Committee, a 501(c) 3 organization. Free Books after Columbiana Library Book Sale

The Friends of Columbiana Library are offering their leftover books from the Fall Book Sale on Monday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Patrons should bring their own bags or boxes. Afterwards all materials are going to a shredder via the Mahoning County Green Team.

Fall landscape program available at Boardman Park

OSU Extension Mahoning County, in partnership with Boardman Park and the Mahoning Valley Landscape and Nursery Association, will offer "All About the Fall Landscape" on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 4:30 p.m. at the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center at Boardman Park. The program will provide practical information to help homeowners prepare their lawns and landscapes for the fall and winter seasons. Participants will learn essential fall lawn care practices, which trees and shrubs can be pruned in the fall, and other steps that can help keep their landscapes healthy and attractive. The cost to attend is $5. Registration is required by calling OSU Extension Mahoning County at 330-533-5538.

Lepper Library upcoming activities

The Lepper Library in Lisbon will continue its book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. A wide selection of adult, teen, and children's books, audios, and movies will be available. The prices are: hardbacks $1, paperbacks 50 cents, audios & DVDs $1, all children's books 25 cents and magazines are free with any purchase. To find the sale, enter the parking lot from the East Lincoln Way entrance and the sale entrance is in the garage off Vine Street.

Moving and Grooving

Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

This Storytime is geared toward babies and toddlers. Come sing songs, listen to a story, and play. Older siblings are welcome to join in also.

Preschool Story Hour

Tuesdays at 11 a.m.

Sing songs, listen to stories, and make crafts. Stay and play after the program. Geared toward children ages 3-5 but younger and older siblings are welcome.
