SALEM - Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) continues to be recognized as one of the nation's cleanest hospitals, earning a spot on Becker's Hospital Review's list of the Cleanest Hospitals in the United States for the third consecutive time.
The distinction includes just 381 hospitals nationwide that were awarded a 5-star rating for exceptional cleanliness from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
"Our cleanliness rating comes directly from patient feedback gathered through the CMS hospital patient satisfaction survey," said Anita Hackstedde, M.D., SRMC President/CEO. "This means the honor is based entirely on the firsthand experiences of the people we care for."
More than 4,000 hospitals in the United States participate in the CMS patient survey. SRMC was one of only 21 Ohio facilities to make the list of cleanest hospitals.
"Maintaining our 5-star rating highlights the outstanding efforts of our Housekeeping team and entire staff to ensure the highest levels of quality and safety for everyone who enters our doors," she continued.
Therese Smith, Xanitos Director of Housekeeping Services, oversees these day-to-day operations. According to Smith, the hospital consistently evaluates and enhances its cleaning protocols, staff training programs and patient feedback systems to exceed industry standards and improve patient care.
"Our staff takes great pride in keeping the hospital clean and welcoming to provide our patients with the best possible environment for healing," she added.
