LISBON - The Columbiana County Retired Teachers Association recently met at the Lisbon United Methodist Church. The luncheon was served by the Women of Faith of the church.

Nancy Dicken offered the welcome, pledge and invocation. The minutes and treasurer's report were accepted as presented.

The program was offered by Shari Fry, local watercolor artist from Columbiana. She displayed her red, white, and blue painting that she created in honor of the America 250th Anniversary celebration. Fry decided she wanted to use various flags. The idea of "stitching things together" came from her mother who was a quilter. Fry found the Ohio Star quilt block and decided to incorporate it with the national flags. The speaker also shared the current 50-star U.S. flag was designed by a 17-year-old student from Ohio.

Mike Schlais won the 50/50 and Janet Christen's name was drawn for the free lunch at the next meeting.

The East Liverpool High School "Blues" will perform at the Nov. 19 meeting. Call Rosemary Bruehler by Sunday, Nov. 15 with a reservation.

Starting at /week.
