West Branch FFA members participate in Beef Quality Assurance

BELOIT – West Branch FFA students recently participated in Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training at the school barn with Haley Shoemaker from Ohio State University Extension.
The training gave students an opportunity to build their knowledge of responsible livestock care and learn why good management practices matter in the beef industry. For students raising cattle at home or working with livestock at school, these skills can help them become more confident and responsible caretakers.
BQA focuses on cattle health and well-being, safe handling, proper record-keeping, and producing safe, quality beef. The program helps producers understand how their everyday decisions affect both their animals and the food they raise for consumers.
The visit connected classroom learning with the responsibilities of caring for livestock.
Opportunities like this help FFA members prepare for their own projects and possible careers in agriculture.
