Columbiana to combine fire, EMS departments
COLUMBIANA — The city of Columbiana has decided that a consolidation of the fire and EMS departments will position the emergency services for long-term sustainability. The city announced via a press release on Friday that the decision is being made following a comprehensive independent assessment of both departments’ operations, staffing, and long-term service capacity. Salem — A fight in progress was reported in the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 11:21 a.m. Friday. Officers spoke with the parties involved and determined that they had been involved in a verbal dispute which had turned physical. City lake to close after Labor Day
SALEM — The parks department will cut the season short at the Salem City Lake this year. During the parks commission’s August meeting, Parks Director Kelli Pastore told the commissioners that the department was once again operating at a loss for the year at the city lake and asked when they wanted to close the lake this year. Pastore said that while the department had expected a bump in activity at the lake this year due to Guilford Lake temporarily closing for dam work during the summer, the department had sold roughly the same number of day and season passes as last season, ...
