John Boccieri, a former congressman and state legislator, spent more than $75,000 to win the Democratic primary for the open 58th Ohio House District seat. Boccieri’s postprimary report, between April 16 and June 5, shows he raised $21,777 — with $12,500 coming from political action committees — and spent $45,462.66. West Branch school board approves updates, financing for Knox school

BELOIT — The West Branch school board will be updating the heating and cooling systems at Knox Elementary. The board recently contracted with TRANE for the project and approved a lease purchase agreement to finance it. Superintendent Matthew Manley said the project will include a new roof, boilers and eco-management system to make the building more energy efficient. Pedestrian hit, killed in Perry Township identified: OSHP

PERRY TWP. (WKBN) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the pedestrian hit in an accident in Perry Township Friday night. According to OSHP Lisbon, an Oldsmobile traveled off the right side of the roadway and hit a pedestrian, identified by OSHP as Amanda J. Speigle, 35, of Salem, at 6:17 p.m. on State Route 45 in front of the Salem Golf Club. Speigle was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and she later passed away at the hospital, according to OSHP. The driver of the car was unharmed.
