SALEM (WKBN) — A Salem woman has died and a passenger has been hospitalized after a car drove into a building Saturday afternoon. A release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the car crashed into Perry Township Garage on South Ellsworth Avenue just before 4 p.m. The driver, identified as Jennifer Engle, 56, of Salem, drove her Ford Fiesta off the left side of the roadway, crossing Snyder Avenue and crashing into the building, the release says. SALEM (WKBN) — Police in Salem are at the scene of a crash where a car drove into a building, killing the driver Saturday afternoon. Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post dispatch said the car crashed into Perry Township Garage on Depot Road sometime before 5 p.m. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was airlifted to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown for their injuries. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

LISBON — A former Columbiana man in prison for at least 39 years for attempting to kill a woman with a baseball bat and then setting her home on fire last year had his plea hearing for a separate case of menacing and attempted intimidations reset to 1 p.m. Sept. 28.
