POLICE REPORTS

PERRY TWP.

– David Gamble, 18, of Garfield Avenue, East Palestine, was cited for being in possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday on Cunningham Road. Gamble was a passenger in the vehicle.

– Tanner Realty called at 1:16 p.m. Wednesday regarding an unoccupied residence they are showing possibly being broken into. A neighbor believed someone was attempting to break into the house. An officer checked the residence and found it secure with no signs of forced entry.

– A man from West Fourth Street reported Wednesday that he was assaulted by his ex-fiance while at Grandview Cemetery. He didn’t want to file charges, but wanted the incident on record.

SALEM

– A domestic was reported at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of Ohio Avenue and Franklin Avenue. The caller told police the people involved went inside a residence on Franklin. Officers made contact with a boyfriend and girlfriend inside a residence in the 600 block. The woman said she was upset about losing her job and the boyfriend was just trying to calm her down. No physical violence was reported. He left the home.

– Police were called at 12:32 a.m. Thursday for a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street. An officer learned the vehicle was not suspicious. It belonged to the next door neighbor.

– A possible fire was reported at 10:31 p.m. Wednesday in a wooded area in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue, but police found no indication of a fire.

– An alarm was reported in the 500 block of East State Street at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday, but the exterior of the business was found secure. Police had also been called for an alarm there earlier, but all was secure.

– An officer on patrol at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday issued a parking ticket to a vehicle parked in a no parking zone on the east side of the 500 block of Highland Avenue.

– A property owner in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street called at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday to report a break-in at his garage and home. An officer saw damage to the doors on both buildings. Several items were reported missing.

– Police and firefighters responded at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday to Tractor Supply, 2366 E. State St., for a holdup alarm and fire alarm, but employees said everything was okay and did not know why the alarms were going off. The building was checked and everything appeared okay and secure. An employee told firefighters there had been an accident involving a forklift and a door possibly causing the alarm. The alarm company was notified and a technician was responding.

– A woman reported at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday that her foster son never returned home from school and she suspected he may have run away. Officers checked multiple locations but did not locate the juvenile, who was entered into the law enforcement data base as missing/runaway.

-A domestic was reported at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of East Third Street. When officers arrived, the person who called had left and the other person was headed out of town. Two others who just arrived were unaware of what was going on. No one else was there.

COLUMBIANA

– A man reported at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday a storm sewer gate was sticking up in the air on Fairfield School Road in front of Save-A-Lot. Police found it to be in the Save-A-Lot parking lot and told an employee to take care of it.

– Gary Dickens was stopped for speeding on North Main Street near D’Lux Motors at 11:38 p.m. Wednesday. Dickens submitted to several roadside tests and admitted to being too impaired to drive, police said. He was taken to the Beaver Township police station for a breath test.

LISBON

– Police were called to the Children Services office of the county Department of Job and Family Services at 10:41 a.m. Wednesday in regard to a man who was upset after arguing with his girlfriend. Police patrolled the area but were unable to locate the man.

– Police were called to the county juvenile court facility at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday in regard to a student at the alternative school needing medical assistance. Police stood by until an ambulance arrived.

– Robert Gauntt, East Chestnut Street, reported his vehicle windshield was shattered sometime Tuesday night while the vehicle was parked outside his home.

PERRY TWP.

– A woman in the 1200 block of Benton Road reported at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday that she saw a green vehicle, possibly a Chevy, with a male driver in the area damaging political signs. She described the driver as tall with dark hair and a dark mustache, saying he exited the vehicle and removed political signs from a yard and threw them into her yard. She made contact and asked him what he was doing and he said “I’m the anti Christ,” got back into his vehicle and drove away.

SALEM

– A caller at 12:26 p.m. Wednesday reported a reckless operator on North Lincoln Avenue at East 14th Street. The vehicle was located and followed for several blocks, but no violation occurred.

– Officers were called at 1:23 a.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of West Fifth Street for a criminal damaging report. A woman said a male known to her shattered the glass on her oven and left before police arrived. The incident remains under investigation. While police were identifying others at the scene, an active warrant was discovered for one of them out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. David Gasior, 41, of 440 N. Broadway Ave., was taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear.

– Police assisted a lost trucker at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, getting him back on state Route 14 from a private parking lot on Benton road. He was given directions to state Route 11.

– Police were called to the 900 block of East Third Street at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday for an ambulance needed. A woman had fallen and hit her head. She regained consciousness and was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center after fire department first responders and KLG arrived.

– Officers secured several “for sale” signs found on the sidewalk in front of a residence in the 600 block of East Fifth Street at 9:09 p.m. Tuesday.

– Loud persons were reported at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue where police spoke to a resident and three males. The resident wanted the males to leave, so officers asked them to vacate the property.

– A possible water leak was reported at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday at East Third Street and Hawley Avenue. Nothing was seen by officers.

– An intoxicated person was reported at 7:46 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of East Third Street. Police checked for the female but learned she left before they arrived.

– A woman on East Seventh Street reported at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday that her son had been bullied by another juvenile near her home. An officer made contact with the juvenile’s father and told him about the complaint.

– A man on Franklin Avenue reported a possible scam at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. He said he received an email from a law office asking him to contact them, but he doesn’t believe it was meant for him. An officer told him he could call the phone number on the email or ignore it. The email did not ask for money or personal information.

– Police responded to the 600 block of East Third Street where it was reported at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday that a man was sitting in a van parked in a yard drinking an alcoholic beverage. The van was found in the rear yard unoccupied. The homeowner was contacted and told not to allow such activity.

– An unruly juvenile was reported at 3:24 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South Howard Avenue. The mother said he had been very mouthy and left with friends. She was told to call if any problems occur when he returns home.

– A woman came to the station at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday and alleged a case of fraud occurred four years ago. She said she had already been to several agencies and said they refused to help. She was given several options.

LISBON

– Eric Walker Jr., state Route 534, Salem, reportedly backed into a car owned by Shannon Fox of Lisbon on Maple Street at 6:29 p.m. Oct. 23.

– Erica Burkey reported Monday she believed someone struck her vehicle while she was visiting with a client at Applegrove Apartments.

– Steve Armstrong, Bowman Road, Homeworth, reportedly backed his pickup into a 2012 Cadillac belonging to James Burton on South Market Street at 10:40 a.m. Monday.

– A caller reported juveniles were tossing a football over cars on North Jefferson Street at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday. Police saw two boys playing catch along the roadway and they were told to stop because it was unsafe and people were complaining. They agreed to move to a yard.

– Jennifer Weston, East Chestnut Street, reported Monday receiving harassing text messages from her brother and sister about her boyfriend. Her brother said in one message that Weston’s boyfriend would be sorry if he showed up their mother’s home in Salineville. She was advised to contact Salineville police and the procedure for obtaining a protection order.

– Glenn McMillan, state Route 517, reported Sunday his Ford Explorer was missing from his driveway.

– Heather Landerfield, state Route 45, reported Oct. 23 her son’s iPhone was stolen from the high school the day before. Jeremy Bricker said the phone went missing while he was in gym class.

– A caller reported prostitution was going on outside at the Smith Oil station at 3 a.m. Oct. 23. Police did not find anyone or vehicles in the parking lot.

– While on patrol at 7:26 p.m. Oct. 22 police found Kirk Sandoe, East Washington Street, asleep in his truck while parked under the Canton Bridge. Sandoe said everything was fine but he just needed a place to rest after taking some allergy medicine.

– Don Clark, West Chestnut Street, reported Oct. 18 someone used his military debit card and purchased $477 in items at a Walmart in Pittsfield, Mass.

COLUMBIANA

– A man reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday someone in a white Toyota Corolla was driving around the area slowly, especially in areas where the garage doors were open. Police found the vehicle and learned they were members of the steelworkers union and were advising people where to vote.

– Eugene Eminhiser, state Route 14, reported at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday someone keeps coming onto his property. Police found Kaytlynne Yhelka and warned her for trespassing.

– A North Pearl Street woman reported at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday a man in a silver car pulled out of a neighbor’s driveway and was just sitting in it. Police found the man was from Bermex Inc., a contractor for Columbia Gas, and was doing inspections of the interior gas line and was waiting for Columbia Gas to arrive after he notified them of a leak.

– A woman reported at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday someone in a blue Chevy Cavalier was stopped in and out of traffic on state Routes 14 and 7. Police stood by while the vehicle was moved off the road.

– A Mrs. Brewer reported at 4 p.m. Tuesday Roger Hughes left her house drunk. Police checked for his vehicle but could not find it.

– Danny Lockard reported at 4 p.m. Tuesday there were leaves pushed out into the road on North Middle Street between Salem and Allen Avenue causing the road to be one lane. Police told multiple residents not to push any leaves in the roadway in the future.

– A woman reported at 6:31 p.m. Tuesday a vehicle went off the road and then stopped just west of Fairfield School Road on Kelly Park Road and she was concerned the driver was having a health issue. Police checked but did not find the vehicle.

– Boardman police requested at 8:34 p.m. Tuesday an officer attempt to contact someone on County Line Road who was involved in a private property crash in their township.

– Milo Baker reported his car was struck by a brick while driving on West Lincoln Way near Beaver Street at 10:53 p.m. Friday. He believes the brick may have fallen from a building, and the officer noted it did appear as if the brick fell from a building and struck his car door.

COLUMBIANA

– The highway patrol requested police stand by at 11:51 a.m. Monday while they searched a vehicle on Old Route 164.

– A man reported at 12:18 p.m. Monday a dark blue Explorer northbound on state Route 7 had a message written on the back window. Police checked the area but did not see the vehicle.

– Jennifer Gaydos, Cambridge Glen, reported at 12:51 p.m. Monday she was receiving unwanted calls. Police found it was a machine advertising help with school testing and advised Gaydos to remove the number from her call list.

– A man reported at 4:13 p.m. Monday someone was burning trash in a back yard on East Friend Street. Police warned Jamie Phillips for open burning.

– A Quincy Avenue woman reported at 6:22 p.m. Monday someone dumped off computer equipment on her property.

– An Advanced Auto Parts employee reported at 6:37 p.m. Monday an irate man threatened to return to the store with a gun. The matter is under investigation.

– Nissa Lyn Phillips, North West Street, reported at 6:41 p.m. Monday someone dumped off computer equipment on her property.

SALEM

– An officer was dispatched at noon Tuesday to a business at Eastgate Plaza, 2309 E. State St., where an employee reported possibly seeing two chairs that had been stolen last Friday sitting outside a residence on Fourth Street. An officer went to the residence and found the chairs did not belong to the business.

– Police responded at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday for a person down in the 400 to 600 block of West State Street. A caller reported a woman was sitting on the sidewalk on the bridge with her legs stretched out into the street. She was ill, but declined medical attention and safely walked to the other side of the bridge.

– An officer was called at 9:31 a.m. Tuesday to the 700 block of Southeast Boulevard for a report of leaves being blown onto a property. No one was there and no leaves were being blown.

– A man reported at 9:04 a.m. Tuesday that he came to work at BH Tire in the 900 block of West State Street near Dodge Drive and noticed a pole was struck and street signs were knocked down in front of the business at the intersection. Ohio Edison was notified.

– The manager of Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., reported at 9:21 a.m. Tuesday that a man came into the store at about 9:30 p.m. Monday and went to the cooler. He picked out a can of beer and then picked up a bottle of vodka and proceeded to shove the bottle down his pants. He went to the register and attempted to pay for the beer when the cashier questioned him about the bottle. He removed it from his pants, then the cashier refused to sell him either item. Officers will attempt to locate him and tell him not to return to the store.

– Police were called at 11:26 p.m. Monday to the 300 block of East Seventh Street to check on the welfare of a city resident. She said she was fine.

– A possible prowler was reported at 10:42 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where a person was seen in front of a residence with a camera on a tripod. The person was located and identified as a local resident who was taking night pictures of traffic traveling along North Ellsworth Avenue, which he volunteered to show to officers. He had not been close to the residence.

– An audible alarm was reported for a closed business in the 2900 block of East State Street at 10:39 p.m. Monday. The exterior was found secure.

– Loud persons were reported at 8:20 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. A resident said she was having trouble getting her children to bed. She was told to be more quiet.

-Amy Riley, 33, was cited for open container after police were called at 7:20 p.m. Monday to the 2200 block of East State Street for a report of an intoxicated person. She had been drinking from an open container of beer when officers arrived on the scene.

-An abandoned bicycle was reported at 7:15 p.m. Monday in the Salem Regional Medical Center parking lot on East State Street and taken to the police station.

– Vincent Rosati, 23, of 630 Franklin Ave., was taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear after an officer saw him while on patrol at 6:22 p.m. Monday.

– An anonymous caller at 6:49 p.m. Monday reported an unsecured door and an open door at a residence in the 1100 block of East 10th St. No one was found inside. Officers were able to secure the doors.

– A woman in the 900 block of East State Street reported a juvenile problem at 5:29 p.m. Monday. She saw juveniles going down a set of steps at the rear of the building and she didn’t know what they were doing. Officers located the juveniles and told them they weren’t allowed in the area.

– An officer at 4:55 p.m. Monday was approached by a person at the rear of the station with questions about filing a police report. It was determined the incident occurred in the Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction, so a phone number was provided.

– An obstruction in the road was reported at 4:46 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of South Lincoln Avenue. A man was willing to move the trailers out of the road.

– Police were called at 3:38 p.m. Monday to the 500 block of Washington Avenue to check on the welfare of a resident, but were unable to make contact.

– Terry Moore, of Sharp Street, reported at 3:30 p.m. Monday that he believed someone he knew took his truck keys while his vehicle was in the 700 block of West State Street. He was told his options.

-A caller at 3:20 p.m. Monday reported a Sugardale truck turned right onto East Second Street from North Ellsworth Avenue and struck the crosswalk sign. The truck was not found.

– A woman was reported loitering in the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:28 p.m. Monday. She was not found.

– A semi truck hauling vehicles at 9:48 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of West State Street reportedly turned right into a back alley were Napa Auto Parts is located and cut the turn too close, striking a pole.

– A truant student was reported at 8:42 a.m. Monday at Reilly School. An officer located the child and convinced him to go back inside the school. Once inside, the school staff said everything was okay.

SALEM

– Police were called at 5:07 a.m. Monday to the 1800 block of Maple Street for a basketball hoop in the roadway. An officer removed the hoop from the street.

– An alarm was reported at 4:14 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of Arch Street, with the building found secure.

– A hit/skip accident was reported at 3:02 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of South Union Avenue where a fire hydrant was struck by an unknown vehicle. Pieces of bumper cover were found at the scene, but the vehicle was not found.

– Police were called at 10:59 p.m. Sunday to the 100 block of West Fourth Street for a person to be removed. An officer made contact with the person and he left without incident.

– An officer on patrol at 7:40 p.m. Sunday saw a large amount of smoke in the air in the 800 block of East Third Street. The smoke appeared to be coming from a chimney.

– Police checked an area between East Fifth Street and East Third Street for a report of juveniles in costumes ringing door bells and running away. They were not found.

– In the 1300 block of East Pershing Street at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, an officer spoke with a woman and her juvenile daughter regarding an incident at Centennial Park. The girl said she was at the park with a friend when she was approached by a man unknown to her. She said he offered her money and touched her leg. She said she struck him and came home, telling police the man left the area on a bicycle. He could not be found.

– Police responded at 6:23 p.m. Sunday to a report of a person soliciting without a permit in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue. An officer found the person who was soliciting for a newspaper service. He was told about the requirements for a permit and given a verbal warning.

– A caller at 6 p.m. Sunday reported people placing something on the railroad tracks in the area of West Wilson Street and the railroad crossing. An officer didn’t see anything on the tracks or anyone near the tracks.

– A resident reported at 5:07 p.m. Sunday that he returned a box of auto parts to a local auto parts store on East State Street and believed the box may have contained his missing handgun. He couldn’t find the gun after going to the store, but still had the case and magazines. He had already contacted the business. He called back later to advise the handgun was found and had been misplaced, not stolen.

– A woman at 12:27 p.m. Sunday reported finding a plastic bag containing costume jewelry in a small wooden box in the area of East Pershing and Court Street. The box will be kept at the police station until the owner can be located.

PERRY TWP.

– Gerald Joy Jr., 50, of Carrollton, reported at 12:30 p.m. Sunday that he was traveling north on Depot Road when he struck a deer, causing minor damage to the vehicle.

– Police were called at 9:29 p.m. Saturday to check on juveniles yelling in the 1300 block of Elberon Avenue to ensure there was no problem. No juveniles were found making noise, with the neighborhood all quiet.

– Matthew Pittman, 25, of West State Street, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension, fictitious plates and an equipment violation after a traffic stop at 8:52 p.m. Saturday on West State Street. He was driving a black Ford Escort, but the plates belonged to a silver Chevrolet. The vehicle was towed and he walked from the scene.

– An officer responded to the 1000 block of Georgetown Road at 7:14 p.m. Saturday for a deer carcass causing a road hazard for vehicles. The deer was moved off of the road.

– Police responded to the area of Benton road and the U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 bypass at 12:57 p.m. Saturday for an elderly man walking along the road. He said he was just out for a walk for exercise and he was coherent. He declined a ride home.

– A man in the 1700 block of Cunningham Road reported at 12:07 p.m. Saturday that an unknown person used his information to open a phone line with Verizon Wireless. He had already spoken to Verizon and the fraud department, which cancelled the account.

– Police were called at 8:21 p.m. Friday to check on a suspicious person laying on a hillside after dark at the intersection of state Route 45/state Route 9 with a full backpack leaning against a light pole nearby. The transient was found resting his feet and was identified and checked for warrants. He was given a courtesy ride to the Salem Police Department and given a voucher for a meal at a local fast food restaurant. He was traveling from California to a destination in Pennsylvania and was given directions.

– A Goshen Road resident reported at 6:19 p.m. Friday that an ex-girlfriend was calling and texting him in reference to property that had been left at his residence since last March. He had disposed of the property after repeated attempts to contact her to retrieve the property had been unsuccessful. An officer contacted the woman and told her about civil recourse if she felt she had been wronged and the consequences if she continued to contact the resident after being told to stop.

– A resident on Goshen Road called at 5:32 p.m. Friday for a suspicious male clenching his stomach and seeming to be in distress in the area of U.S. Route 62 and Goshen Road. An officer made contact with the man who said he was having some medical problems and trying to get to Youngstown. Green Township paramedics were called to evaluate him, but he refused treatment. After numerous attempts to locate him a ride, he opted to continue walking towards Youngstown and was dropped off at the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and state Route 165 and directed towards Youngstown.

– Police were asked at 4:37 p.m. Thursday to check the welfare of a small child after a hearing was cancelled over custody issues. The child was fine and there were no problems at the residence on Main Street.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Michael Bruderly, Garfield Road, reported at 8:48 p.m. Oct. 13 that his ex-girlfriend, Heather Roller, would not stop calling him.

– Phillip Smith, Goshen Road, reported at 10:41 a.m. Oct. 14 that he and his wife had sold a bird cage to an unknown individual through Craigslist and the check they received was fraudulent.

– An officer performed a welfare check at a home in the 10000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 17.

– James Grimm reported at 7:55 a.m. Oct. 18 that the canopy over his gas station on Fifth Street in Beloit appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

– Joshua G. Ackler, 28, 34556 Gromley Road, Salem, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated (.202 BAC) following a traffic stop for speed at state Route 14 and Middletown Road at 11:11 p.m. Sunday.

COLUMBIANA

– Ronald P. Hammen, 55, Louisville, was cited for open container during a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. He was a passenger in the vehicle.

– Jacob Grooms, age and address not listed, was cited for no tail light and driving under suspension following a traffic stop on East Park Avenue at 2:48 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was then moved by a friend who had driving privileges.

– Ronald Kollar, Old North, reported at noon Sunday someone removed a fence he had in his back yard and he believed it may have been some kids he was having trouble with nearby, who had been crossing through his property and that was why he put the fence up in the first place.

– Danielle Devan, 29, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension during a traffic stop on West Park Avenue at 3 p.m. Sunday.

– Joseph Cider, Beaver Falls, Pa., was eastbound on East Park Avenue at 9:33 p.m. Sunday and approaching state Route 14 when he was distracted by his GPS system and was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and drove straight into a ditch running parallel to state Route 14. No citations were issued.

– Tyler J. Boykin, 21, Lake Milton, was cited for fictitious plates and two headlights required following a traffic stop on Chestnut Alley at 8:26 p.m. Sunday. The plates were seized.

LISBON

– Stephanie Murphy reported there was a dog walking in the street in the 200 block of West Washington Street at 10 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area but did not see any dog about.

– A clerk at Smith Oil reported at 4 p.m. Saturday a customer found drug paraphernalia – a spoon used to cook drugs – in their public restroom. An officer went to the restroom and saw the spoon with burn marks and a piece of cotton stuck to it with some residue on it. The clerk said the bathroom had been cleaned in the morning and a man used it at 3:10 p.m. for about a half hour before leaving.

– A loud music complaint was received on North Jefferson Street at 10:38 p.m. Saturday, and police found a group of people congregated in a back yard. They were told to turn down the music and try to be quiet, and they agreed.

– Marra Gardner reported seeing a motorist driving recklessly on state Route 164 at 5:20 p.m. Sunday. Police caught up with the vehicle on Jerome/Lee Street, and the driver, Paul Probst of Rochester, Pa., said he and his wife were lost and he was distracted while using the GPS.

SALEM REPORTS

– Kevin Wasmire, 41, of 999 S. Freedom, Alliance, was charged with criminal trespass and driving under suspension after police were called at 8:57 a.m. Saturday to Moore M-R Specialty on Pennsylvania Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle and missing scrap. An employee was following a red Ford pickup heading northwest from the business with no license plate and loaded with scrap allegedly from the business. The employee came to the business to pick something up when he saw the red truck by the scrap hopper, then saw the vehicle leaving. He followed it to Allen Road, then onto state Route 14, onto Garfield Road and then onto Duck Creek Road where police caught up to the vehicle driven by the witness and the red truck. With overhead lights and sirens activated, an officer initiated a traffic stop on the truck loaded very heavy with scrap metal. The driver, Wasmire, got out and claimed he screwed up and said he’s in a mess, the report said. The owner of the company said no one had permission to be on the property or remove any scrap. The license plate was found on the front floor of the vehicle and came back to a female. Additional charges may be pending, with the case under investigation. The owner of the company had called police previously about missing scrap.

– A prowler was reported in the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 11:36 p.m. Friday. Police were unable to locate anyone and checked the property on foot, with nothing suspicious found.

– An anonymous caller at 9:48 p.m. Friday reported an intoxicated driver in the 2800 block of East State Street. The vehicle was found unoccupied and legally parked in the 2400 block.

– An officer on patrol at 9:31 p.m. Friday noticed a person walking west on East State Street who’s wanted on a warrant. The officer attempted to make contact with the person, but the person took off running between houses and couldn’t be found.

– An officer at 9:05 p.m. Friday assisted a transient at the police station.

– An unsecured vehicle was found at 7:52 p.m. Friday at Stadium GM, 292 W. State St., parked in the south lot with the headlights and keys in the ignition. The vehicle, a 2014 Chevy Silverado, was secured and the keys put in the drop box.

– Robert Narehood, 53, of Depot Road, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield after pulling from a private drive and striking a vehicle driven by Jeanne Martinelli, 65, of South Union Avenue, who was eastbound in the 2100 block of East Pershing Street at 7:13 p.m. Friday.

– A woman in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue reported at 6:38 p.m. Friday that a dirt bike was driven through her driveway. Police were unable to find anyone on a dirt bike.

– A parking ticket was issued at 5:01 p.m. Friday for an illegally parked vehicle with the left side to the curb in the 1200 block of East Pershing Street.

– An anonymous caller at 3:33 p.m. Friday reported a car owned by Beth Hale was parked in the lot at Buckeye Elementary School, 1200 Buckeye Ave., when another vehicle identified as a blue Ford Escape attempted to pull up to park and struck the left rear quarter of the Hale car. The other driver then backed up and parked on the east side of the lot without notifying anyone.

– Police handled two separate accidents Friday afternoon at Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., where vehicles were backed into at the gas pumps. No citations were issued since the accidents occurred on private property.

– A domestic in progress was reported at 3:06 p.m. Friday in the city, with the incident identified as a dispute over personal issues and no signs of violence.

– Jeffrey Graffius, 35, of West Perry Street, was cited for no license and Trent Cope, 22, of Benton Road, was cited for failure to yield after a two-vehicle accident at 2:16 p.m. Friday on West State Street. Cope was attempting to pull out of the Circle K West parking lot and struck the Graffius vehicle, which was westbound in the 700 block.

– A shoplifter was reported at 12:50 p.m. Friday at Shoe Sensation, 2333 E. State St., where a woman reported a female in her early 40s with a gray shirt and a black bag took a $70 pair of gray boots. The report said she put the boots on and walked around the store, then left without paying for the books. She could not be found.

– A woman at 11:25 a.m. Friday reported the rear window of a vehicle broken out while parked in a driveway in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. The week before the front windshield was shattered and was just replaced. A cement block was thrown down on the rear window, the report said.

– Police were called at 11:18 a.m. Friday to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard for a man having some type of problem over his medications. He was found with his mother and all was fine. He was upset with his health care worker.

– City street supervisor Jim Phillis reported at 2:25 p.m. Thursday that a large amount of leaves were blown out onto North Broadway Avenue. An officer made contact with the business which in turn contacted the lawn company which came back and took care of the problem.

– A bank representative in San Diego, Calif., reported at 10:13 a.m. Thursday that a subcontractor reported to her several missing items at an unoccupied home in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue. Officers discovered possible tampering and bags of trash inside, but found the home secure. The home had been foreclosed upon for some time.

– Police responded to a Southeast Boulevard apartment at 12:13 p.m. Thursday where a resident was trying to make her brother’s girlfriend move out after living there a month. The resident was informed of the eviction process.

– Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:50 p.m. Thursday after the Salem hospital reported an emergency room patient with a sheriff’s office hold had fled the facility in an unknown direction. The suspect was discovered hiding in a nearby gas station bathroom and taken to the station to await transportation to the jail.

– A driver reported at 3:28 p.m. Thursday seeing the Froggy 93 radio station van westbound on East State Street in which the passenger appeared to be holding a gun to the driver’s head. Officers stopped the van at the intersection of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Second Street and determined there to be no criminal activity.

– Officers responded to Centennial Park at 5:13 p.m. Thursday for a report of someone jumping off a vehicle into a pile of leaves. The people involved were warned of the dangers of their actions and they left.

– Officers responded an alarm at a 400 block Highland Avenue home at 7:26 p.m. Thursday and found the door closed but not locked. The officers were greeted by multiple dogs and told the owner about the door.

– Officers responded to the 700 block of Granite Avenue at 8:42 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported hearing a possible gun shot behind her home. The officers searched the area but could not hear or find anything suspicious.

– A patrolling officer in the 800 block of Prospect Street found a suspicious object at 8:56 p.m. Thursday. It was placed in lost and found at the station.

– Officers responded to a Prospect Street home at 10:07 p.m. Thursday where Amanda McBride reported an argument with her husband and asked that he be removed from the home. She was told that they both reside at the home and officers cannot force either to leave.

– Chad C. Daft, East Fourth Street, Salem, reported on station at 12:06 a.m. that he was almost attacked by two dogs in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Carbon Street.

– An officer clearing from another incident at 6:57 p.m. Friday observed a tractor trailer travel through the railroad crossing on East Pershing Street while the gates were lowering and lights flashing, breaking off the eastbound gate. The officer collected the driver’s information.

LISBON

– Nicole Hilton asked police on Thursday to advise Mary Shulas to quit calling and harassing her. Police went to the Shulas residence on Maple Street extension and so advised her. Shulas said the only reason she was calling was to retrieve a heater from Kevin Criss, who used to live with her but now lives with Hilton and took the heater with him. The officer made arrangements to have the heater returned.

COLUMBIANA

– The police department issued an amended report from Wednesday about a domestic dispute call from Natalie Hromiko, Old North Avenue. While Hromiko claimed to have been attacked by her husband, police determined no assault or dispute actually occurred.

– A caller reported his daughter had just left her job on Heck Road and there was a suspicious male in the vicinity at 9:13 a.m. Thursday. Police checked the area but did not see the person or the vehicle.

– Police were called at 3:44 a.m. Thursday to the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue near Eighth Street for a report of an intoxicated driver who fell asleep at a stop sign. No vehicle was found.

– A female in the 1000 block of West Perry Street reported at 12:30 a.m. Thursday that she heard a noise outside her apartment on her porch like something fell. Nothing was located outside or on her porch.

– A caller at 12:02 a.m. Thursday reported a suspicious person in front of Walgreens in the 2100 block of East State Street wearing a black shirt and hat. Contact was made with the person and another male. Both were doing some work on the west side of the business.

– A reckless operator was reported at 9:49 p.m. Wednesday on West State Street near Jennings Avenue in a truck excessively speeding. The vehicle wasn’t located.

– A parking complaint was reported at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday on South Union Avenue near Oak Street, with a vehicle parked along the west side of the street in the 600 block in a no parking zone. The owner was located and moved the vehicle.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday on Parkview Drive, but wasn’t found.

– Police investigating a complaint in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday were told about a separate incident involving the theft of clothing from the apartment. A woman reported several thousand dollars worth of Buckle brand clothing stolen from the apartment recently.

– Police were called at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard for people to be removed from an apartment. The resident’s brother and his girlfriend had been staying there for several months. An officer explained the proper procedure for legal eviction and the resident was upset they couldn’t be removed. Officers were summoned back to the apartment a short time later for more arguing between the resident and her brother. She chose to leave for the evening.

– A resident in the 100 block of West Fourth Street called at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to report an item taken from the back yard.

– A parking complaint was reported at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Arch Street where a large van was parked on the curb. The owner agreed to move it.

– A caller in the 900 block of West Pershing Street at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday reported someone sounding a car horn excessively. No disturbance was heard by police.

– An officer at 2:13 p.m. Wednesday saw a vehicle parked in a clearly posted no parking zone in the 900 block of West Wilson Street. An attempt was made to locate the owner, but there was no answer at a nearby residence. A parking ticket was issued.

– Shirley Irey, of West Pine Lake Road, reported at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday that her vehicle was parked in a lot in the 500 block of East Second Street when another vehicle backing out of a parking space struck her left rear passenger door. The vehicle left the scene without anyone leaving any information or reporting the crash to anyone. The vehicle had been described as silver with an older couple inside. There were no injuries.

– Someone reported at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday a Toyota was speeding and passing vehicles on Metz Road and then onto Fairfield Avenue. Police checked but did not see the vehicle.

– Betty Getz reported at 12:33 p.m. Wednesday a pickup was parked in a driveway on Apache Lane where a house was broken into last week. Police found the pickup belonged to the owner of the home where it was parked and was not the same house that had been broken into.

– Natalie Hromiko, Old North Street, reported at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday she was attacked by her husband. No charges were filed.

LISBON

– Police were asked to check on the well-being of a person who lives on North Market Street at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The caller said his sister lived there and he was worried because her husband had been drinking and the couple had been arguing. Police arrived and found the woman outside, and she said she was leaving for the evening.

Constable Dan Valentine received a report from a resident in the 37000 block of old State Route 344, Leetonia, at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday advising of an incident on a school bus involving his 13-year-old daughter and a boy from Lisbon. The complainant said that after her daughter returned home, harassing and threatening calls and text messages were received from that boy. Contact was made with the boy and his mother and he was informed not to contact the complainant and his daughter anymore.

– An officer responded to Chaparrel Campground on Middletown Road at 7:50 a.m. Oct. 5 where Timothy Armbruster reported a juvenile male had broken into the store at the campgrounds and into a cash register.

– Police responded to a criminal damaging report in the 17000 block of First Street, Beloit, at noon Oct. 5.

– Police responded to the Dollar General in Beloit at 3:48 p.m. Oct. 6 where an employee reported two individuals may have stolen items from the store, but then she wasn’t sure.

– Police responded to an assault report at the Colonial Villa on Goshen Road at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9.

– An officer responded to 11150 Pine Lake Road at 9:55 p.m. Oct. 11 where Gary Evanoff reported his neighbor’s dog was on his property. The dog’s owner was warned to keep the dog properly restrained.

– A Joshua Dixon Elementary school employee reported at 2:53 p.m. Tuesday a kindergartner took off out of the building at dismissal time. Shortly after, employees were able to get the child back inside.

– A woman reported at 3 p.m. Tuesday kids from the high school drive through Blueberry Drive at high rates of speed to get to the park after high school for practice every day.

SALEM

– Police responded to the 100 block of West Fifth Street at 10:32 a.m. Wednesday for a well-being check. The female resident said she was fine.

– A woman at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday asked for a well-being check at a business in the 2500 block of East State Street, saying the lights were on but no one was inside. Police responded and found the business open with employees and customers inside.

– A man from the 800 block of Southeast Boulevard dropped off a child’s bike at the police station at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday. He said a young man 10 to 12 years old left the bike in the area three days ago and had not been back to retrieve it. The bike was placed in a holding area until it’s claimed by the owner.

– Police were called for vandalism at 8:49 a.m. Wednesday in the area of South Union Avenue and Mound Street. No metal signs were found bent. The only possible sign was one paper sign placed by the midnight shift for the paving company. Nobody was found in the area.

-Terri Pasco reported at 8:28 a.m. Wednesday that someone may have loosened the lug nuts on her son’s vehicle, causing the left rear tire to fall off. Her son picked up the tire on State Street just south of Highland where he stopped. The vehicle’s lugs appeared sheared off. It was unknown what may have caused it. She said he was on his way to school and had no problems with anyone as far as they know.

– An alarm was reported at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue. The exterior was found secure.

– A residential alarm was reported at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of South Lincoln Avenue where police found the back door unsecured. Nobody was inside the residence and officers secured the door before leaving.

– Police were called at 10:34 p.m. Tuesday to the 1100 block of East Third Street for one to be removed. A woman said a man was refusing to leave her porch. An officer told him to leave and that he was not welcome back.

– A dispute was reported at 9:53 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East Euclid where a resident said a man was knocking on the door and wasn’t welcome at the home. He left.

– Nicholas Edwards, 24, of 305 W. Eighth St., was charged with criminal trespass after police were called at 9:09 p.m. Tuesday to an establishment in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue for a person to be removed. The man had been told on Sept. 24 not to return to the business or he would be charged. The owner wanted to press charges.

– A man in the 700 block of East Fourth Street called at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday to report illegally parked vehicles in the area. No parking violations were found.

– A missing juvenile was reported at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue. A woman said her granddaughter was supposed to be home at a certain time and had not come home. Officers looked for the girl but were unable to find her. The woman called back later to say she came home.

– A woman from East Fifth Street reported a case of telecommunications harassment at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday, saying a female known to her daughter was threatening her via an online chat program. An officer spoke to the female sending the messages and told her to stop all contact with the woman and her daughter.

– An alarm was reported at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of East State Street where everything appeared okay.

– An audible alarm was reported at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue. All exterior doors were secure and there were no signs of entry.

-Reckless operators were reported in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and Sunset at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday with several trucks speeding. No traffic violations were observed.

– Police were called at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday to the Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., for an irate person. Two males had been arguing. One left and the other one was still at the library, but wasn’t causing further problems.

– A parking complaint was reported at 11:21 a.m. Tuesday on North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street. The owner moved the vehicle.

– A domestic disturbance involving a custody issue was reported at 10:17 a.m. Tuesday on Jefferson Avenue, with no signs of abuse or violence seen. The mother wanted to leave with the daughter and the father was unhappy that the child was permitted to leave with the mother. He was told under Ohio law the mother has full rights to the child if the parents are unmarried, as in this case.

– A suspicious person was reported at 11:54 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of East Fifth Street. The person was found on Hawley near East Third Street and told to stop soliciting in the area. He said he would go home.

– Officers responded at 11:35 p.m. Monday to the 500 block of Columbia Street for a female screaming for help and found a medical emergency with a 1-year-old child. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance were called and the child was taken to the emergency department at Salem Regional Medical Center.

– A domestic was reported at 10:07 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Euclid Street, but was verbal only. Both parties agreed to stay separated for the night.

– A woman in the 1100 block of East Third Street reported at 9:04 p.m. Monday that her elderly mother was upset and left home on foot and they were worried about her well-being. She was found in the 800 block walking in the road. She was taken back to the residence and said she would not leave again.

– A woman on Columbia Street reported at 5:29 p.m. Monday that some unknown person used her name and address at the food pantry on Vine Street to obtain items Friday. She said it possibly was her neighbors who have access to her mailbox at their duplex.

– An alarm was reported at 5:05 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue. The exterior of the building was found secure.

– A passing motorist reported a domestic with a man pushing a woman on State Street at 3:23 p.m. Monday. A third party at Circle K said the man pushed the woman three times. Police talked to the man and woman in the parking lot at Papa John’s and told them to stop the disorderly conduct, warning that further disturbances would result in charges. Neither had any injuries or reported any threats. A short time later, another caller reported them yelling near Ohio Avenue. An officer had just passed them and they were not yelling. The man went one way and the woman went the other way.

– Police were called at 12:05 p.m. Monday to check the well-being of a female in the 300 block of West Fifth Street. She was okay and said there were issues with her and her ex-husband.

– A township patrolman assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a blood alcohol content test for a Mountz Road resident who tested .154 BAC.

– Police responded at 3:51 p.m. Monday to the 600 block of Brittany Lane for a female juvenile standing outside a residence. The girl told police she locked herself out of her residence. A relative arrived a short time later and unlocked the door.

– Police were called at 2:14 p.m. Monday to respond to the 1300 block of West State Street in the C&C Trailer Court for a report of a fight called in by an anonymous person. Police spoke to everyone at the scene and found there was no problem. All parties were identified and police found an active arrest warrant out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for Charity Ann Marie Riggs, 20, of 1360 W. State St., for failure to appear for a charge of promoting prostitution. Summit County was contacted and did not want to respond to pick her up, so police left.

– Melissa S. Mills, 30, of Salem, was taken into custody at her residence in the 400 block of Benton Road on a warrant out of the Springfield Township Police Department for theft. She was turned over to Springfield Township Police.

– Police responded to Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Blossom Lane at 11:31 a.m. Monday for a report of a patient leaving the facility with a family member who was not authorized to take the family member from the facility to an appointment. The patient was brought back to the facility unharmed by the family member with paperwork authorizing the trip to the appointment. A Blossom administrator said the paperwork would be forwarded to their legal counsel to be reviewed due to the paperwork on file not having the person in question authorized. The family member who reported the incident did not wish to pursue charges in the matter.

COLUMBIANA

– A woman reported at 10:52 a.m. Monday a kid was dragging a backpack and walking in the middle of East Park Avenue. Police located the person and found it was an adult, not a juvenile, and was walking along the road and not in the middle of the street. The man said he was walking from New Waterford to the library.

– Darla McKinley, Columbiana-Lisbon Road, reported at 2:18 p.m. Monday she contacted someone to do yard work and the man keeps calling her and she can’t understand what he is saying and she wanted the calls to stop. Police listened to one of the messages and it appeared McKinley was being called accidentally or the phone was malfunctioning.

– Police warned Richard McCoy, North Pearl Street for opening burning in his back yard at 2:40 p.m. Monday.

– Dr. Vitko, East Park Avenue, reported at 3:42 p.m. Monday two dogs were in a field by his office and had killed a small animal. Police tried to track the dogs but they went out of sight into the woods along state Route 14.

– A woman reported at 5:24 p.m. Monday someone was shining a green laser light at vehicles at the stop sign at West Park Avenue. Police found the person and told them to stop.

LISBON

– Police were asked to check on the well-being of Kevin Sliss, who lives on West Chestnut Street, at 7:39 p.m. Saturday. No one answered the door, which swung open when knocked on by the officer. A person came downstairs and he believed Sliss might be upstairs sleeping. Sliss was located and he said everything was fine.

– Amber Rohm, state Route 517, Lisbon, reported at 2:32 a.m. Sunday someone was drunk and had broken a window. Rohm said she and her ex-boyfriend, Jordan Swain, had argued and before leaving he punched out a door window.

– Jordan Alicea, West Pine Street, reported at 4:35 p.m. Sunday she wanted her mother to leave. The mother was told she was not wanted and to leave, which she did.

– An officer was dispatched at 6:18 a.m. Monday to locate a dog in the area of Jennings Avenue and West Eighth Street. The dog was found with its owner.

– A woman came to the station at 4:56 a.m. Monday to report a missing person, saying a friend was supposed to go with her to a conference but she hasn’t been able to contact him. Officers attempted contact but weren’t successful.

– An officer at 4:02 a.m. Monday saw a vehicle parked on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of Mound Street where street parking was available and issued a parking ticket.

– Athena Nicholas, of 3511 state Route 45, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after an officer on patrol at 10:06 p.m. Sunday ran a random registration check and found the owner’s license was suspended. The officer initiated a traffic stop on East Fourth Street and cited the driver.

– An alarm was reported at 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of West Wilson Street. The keyholder advised the alarm was being changed over to a new company and everything was okay.

– An officer on patrol at 4:52 p.m. Sunday noted a vehicle parked illegally in the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard. The driver moved the vehicle.

– Martha Jeffries, of West Perry Street, reported at 3:45 p.m. Sunday that someone hit her vehicle while it was parked in the lot at Walmart on East State Street. The rear passenger bumper was struck by an unknown vehicle.

– A dog was reported at large at 3:07 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Washington Avenue. Police found a large tan dog in the yard with two adults. They reported a person walked by and the dog barked but stayed in the yard. The dog was not off the property, they said. The ordinance was explained after one of the people asked about it. No violation was observed.

– Cheyenne Harrison, of Washington Avenue, reported at 2:32 p.m. Sunday that someone entered her vehicle and stole her purse while she was inside Circle K East on East State Street. The purse contained cash, a check card, cash card, and miscellaneous items.

– Michael Jakubisn, of Woodland Avenue, reported at 1:04 p.m. Sunday that his vehicle was entered overnight and his bank checkbook removed. He was told to contact the bank and have the account cancelled. He was also told to call police if any of the checks are used.

– A woman on Continental Drive reported at 12:33 p.m. Sunday that she was concerned about a neighbor she had not seen in weeks. Police learned the woman was staying elsewhere for the time being.

– A caller at 11:52 a.m. Sunday reported a large rock in the road in the 600 block of East Sixth Street. Officers moved the rock.

– A man at 10:13 a.m. Sunday brought in a key found to belong to a local motel. The motel was contacted.

– A woman from Louisville reported at 9:55 a.m. Sunday that while visiting family in Salem, her juvenile son took something that did not belong to him. She said it’s an ongoing problem and asked for some options for dealing with her son. An officer spoke with the son and told him to stop and advised of the possible consequences of his actions.

– A woman in the 100 block of West Third Street reported at 3:09 p.m. Thursday that a deed or title to her home had been stolen or fraudulently changed into another person’s name to steal the home from her. She knows the person and has talked to an attorney about the alleged theft. She recently talked to someone in the Ohio Attorney General’s office who advised her to call police. The theft was under investigation, to be reviewed by detectives and the prosecutor’s office.

– Police responded at 10:42 p.m. Sunday to the 1700 block of Allen Road for a civil complaint. A woman reported her soon-to-be ex-spouse came into their residence and turned on all the lights and took some financial papers while she was gone. He had recently moved out. She was told to contact her attorney.

– Police saw a vehicle with its flashers on in a driveway in the 1300 block of West State Street at 1:02 a.m. Sunday and contacted the female driver, who said she saw a dog that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. She called Salem Police and they called the humane officer who was responding. Police found the dog as the humane officer was arriving. The owner was located and said she would tend to the injuries and thanked all parties involved.

– Police were asked at 6:32 p.m. Saturday to check the welfare of an unknown person who had called Help Hotline and became upset and hung up on the social workers before all information was gathered. The address given by Help Hotline on Pembrooke was checked, but a resident there said no one from that address had called.

– A domestic was reported at 6:09 p.m. Saturday on Filmore Avenue by a male, but the connection was interrupted. He left the residence before police arrived. An officer spoke to a female who said the argument was verbal only and that no violence occurred.

– Everett Moore Jr., 64, of Sebring, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his eastbound vehicle struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle driven by Ryan Henary, 37, of Uniontown, who was attempting to turn right to head south on state Route 45 at 12:41 p.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported.

– Juan Carlo Agosto-Pena, 31, of Youngstown, was cited for fictitious registration after a traffic stop at 1:14 a.m. Saturday on Depot Road. The vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene, pending proof of ownership and proper registration.

– A domestic was reported at 1:39 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Prospect Street in Salem Acres. Both parties said no physical violence occurred and the incident was verbal. The domestic violence laws were explained.

– A suspicious person was reported at 1:36 p.m. Friday on Grant Street. Police made contact with two people who were found to be renting the residence.

– At police responded to the 1500 block of Merle Road at 12:13 a.m. Sunday where there was a verbal dispute without physical violence. Both people involved were advised to stay away from each other for the rest of the evening.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Arch Street at 12:37 a.m. Sunday where a person had information on and investigation being conducted by another agency. They were advised on how to contact the other agency.

– At 5:16 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 400 block of Legacy Lane where a suspicious vehicle was reported. Police spoke to two people who advised they were lost and parked to sleep. They had consumed alcoholic beverages and were picked up by a relative.

– Police in the S. Madison Avenue and E. Pershing Street area at 5:12 p.m. Saturday were flagged down by a pedestrian who advised that a vehicle committed a traffic violation. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

– At 5:40 p.m. Saturday, police made a traffic stop on a white SUV in the 200 block of Prospect Street and found the driver, Jay. T. Troyer, 10167 Gavers Road, Hanoverton, was driving under suspension and the license plates did not match the vehicle. He was cited for driving under suspension and fictitious plates and the vehicle was towed away.

– Police responded to the 700 block of E. 5th Street at 6:13 p.m. Saturday for a domestic incident and found it was a civil dispute where the man was getting his property and said he had nothing else there. He was advised to leave as he was longer resided there and the woman did not want him there.

– Police responded to the 100 block of N. Howard Avenue at 7:28 p.m. Saturday for a report of a fight in the laundromat parking lot. Upon arrival four people were observed walking away from the area and they said they were involved in horse play in the parking lot. They advised there was no problem and continued on their way.

– At 8:29 p.m. Saturday, a motorist stopped police in reference to a road rage incident on E. State Street near Southeast Boulevard. Police checked the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description given.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– A woman reported at 12:57 a.m. Saturday there was a crowd of people on South Main Street by R’ Pizza being very loud. Police went to the area but the group had already left.

– Police checked on a possible verbal domestic complaint at a North Main Street apartment building at 2:53 a.m. Saturday but the complaint was unfounded.

– Evelyn Brennan, Old North, reported at 10:22 a.m. Saturday she found some string across her yard that was rigged to be a trip line.

– Cynthia Pavan, Burgettstown, Pa., was stopped in traffic on state Route 14 at noon Saturday and was truck by Arthur Felger, East Palestine. Felger was cited for assured clear distance.

– A man reported at 3:23 p.m. Saturday people were speeding on Seventh Street going back to St. Jude.

– Arthur Matheney, East Park Avenue, reported at 11:24 p.m. Saturday the delivery truck entering the Heck’s Restaurant parking lot was driving through his yard while turning into Heck’s.

Salem reports

– Police responded to the 1100 block of E. Pershing Street at 3:36 p.m. Friday for a report of a possible stolen vehicle and found it was stolen and there was a firearm inside. There were no keys or sign of forced entry observed. A witness said a woman parked it there and walked off. Police were unable to contact the owner and it was towed from the scene and the firearm was placed in the police department evidence room.

– Police responded to the 600 block of E. Perry Street at 5:02 p.m. Friday where a complainant advised police of the location and vehicle of a person driving in a reckless manner. An officer contacted the driver and advised them to abide by the rules of the road.

– At 5 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 900 block of N. Lundy Avenue where the complainant advised a blue bicycle was in her front yard and police secured at the police station until it is claimed.

– At 5:32 p.m. Friday, police received a complaint on station regarding substances in a house and the information was referred to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force.

– At 5:32 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 500 block of E. 4th Street where the complainant advised bike was stolen from the rear of the building. The incident is under investigation.

– Police received a call at 7:44 p.m. Friday regarding possible intoxicated driver on W. State Street and Howard Avenue but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

– A complainant was on station at 9:56 p.m. Friday regarding harassment that took place earlier in the evening. The complainant was advised of the options.

– Police responded to the 100 block of S. Howard Avenue at 9:58 p.m. Friday for a report of an attempted suicide and found a man had attempted to harm himself. He was transported to the hospital.

– At 10:45 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 500 block of W. 8th Street where the complainant heard someone attempted to open the back door. Police checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.

– At 10:47 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of E. 4th Street for a juvenile problem and spoke to one who stayed on the scene. He gave the location of the juveniles involved in throwing multiple objects at a fence and police spoke to their mother. The report will be turned over to the juvenile department.

– Police responded to the 400 block of S. Broadway Avenue at 9:05 a.m. Saturday where a red tick hunting dog was removed from the back of the residence. It appeared someone unhooked the chain and took the dog.

– At 9:07 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and W. 8th Street for a report of a dog at large but were unable to locate it.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– Police were called to Lakefront at 3:10 a.m. Friday where possible forced entry was gained into a building on the north side. The building was checked, and while the door jam was broken, none of the items appeared missing.

– Police were called at 3:43 a.m. Friday to the ballfields on Metz Road, where an open door was found on the storage building where mowers were kept. No items appeared to be missing.

-Randall Taylor, West Woodland Avenue, reported at 2:22 p.m. Friday his garage door had damage and wasn’t sure how it happened.

– Linda Van Dyke, North Vine Street, reported at 6:34 p.m. Friday two boys and a girl were in front of the Main Street Theater, and one of the boys possibly threw something at the theater. An officer checked the theater, but found no violations and no one around.

– Goshen Township police requested assistance at 9:27 p.m. Friday regarding a vehicle in Columbiana Manor, West Salem Street, involved in an incident in Goshen Township. An officer found the vehicle, which had minor front quarter panel damage, and relayed a message to the owner to call Goshen Township police.

– A man reported at 10:23 p.m. Friday a red Honda was parked in the Save-A-Lot parking lot where the passenger got out and ran away. Before an officer could arrive, the caller called back and said the car left the lot and headed towards town.

SALEM TOWNSHIP REPORTS

– Mary Beth Boso, St. Jacobs Logtown Road, Leetonia, reported at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday she received a call from a man claiming to be with the “Revenue Service”, and believed it was a scam.

– Nancy Hoffman, state Route 558, Salem, reported at 11:14 a.m. Thursday someone damaged her mailbox overnight.

SALEM

– Police were called for a medical emergency in the 800 block of Jefferson Avenue at 9:46 a.m. Friday, with fire department first responders on the scene. KLG Ambulance transported the woman to Salem Regional Medical Center.

– A spokesman for a business at 1547 Salem Parkway reported at 9:07 a.m. Friday that sometime overnight, someone punctured the gas tank/line of a work van parked outside the business.

– Tiffany Jones reported at 7:48 a.m. Friday that someone entered her vehicle overnight in the 100 block of East Fourth Street and stole her iPod and briefcase containing miscellaneous papers from her work.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 6:28 a.m. Friday in the 1200 block of Buckeye Avenue, but nobody was found inside and nobody was in the area.

– An officer at 1:48 a.m. Friday removed several pumpkins from the street in the 1000 block of East 10th Street.

– Christian Hall, 18, of Knox School Road, Alliance, was cited for driving under suspension and the plates to his vehicle were seized per the BMV after a traffic stop at 12:33 a.m. Friday on East State Street. An officer ran the registration of the parked vehicle in the 1100 block of East State Street and noted the owner was under multiple suspensions. The vehicle was later on the road and stopped, with the driver identified as the registered owner.

– A caller at 7:24 p.m. Thursday wanted a person removed from a property in the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue. The resident said the person left before officers arrived. He was told to call back if the woman returns.

– Police responded to the 700 block of East State Street at 7:21 p.m. Thursday for an intoxicated person. The person was found and given a courtesy ride home. He was also told he’ll be arrested if caught out walking intoxicated again.

– A dog at large was reported at 6:35 p.m. Thursday in the 2400 block of East Pershing St., but was not found.

– An anonymous caller at 6:31 p.m. Thursday reported an open gate at the city water pumping station in the 2400 block of East Pershing Street. The gates surrounding the station were secure. The water department was notified.

– Low hanging wires were reported at 6 p.m. Thursday on Monroe. They were determined to be cable wires. The cable company was notified and a barricade placed in the road to prevent the wires from being hit.

– Patrick Crouse, 43, of Jefferson Avenue, was cited for failure to control after he reported the steering in his truck locked up in the 1300 block of Jefferson Avenue and he lost control of the vehicle, striking a parked vehicle owned by Kimberly Van Dam, also of Jefferson Avenue, then going through a yard before coming to a stop at 2:08 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.

– A caller at 12:09 p.m. Thursday reported a vehicle being repaired that was thought to be unsafe on private property at Vine Avenue and East Third Street. An officer responded and felt it was not an immediate hazard. The owner could not be located.

– Steve Sanders of the 300 block of South Union Avenue reported at 7:41 a.m. Thursday that his neighbor’s vehicle was blocking the alley behind his home. He said he spoke to city zoning officer Pat Morrissey about the alley and was told it’s still a legal alley. The neighbor parks her car in the alley, preventing the CARTS bus from pulling down the alley to pick up his elderly mother. The neighbor told police she just moved into the residence a few weeks ago and the owner said she has the deed to the property and the alley was vacated. She agreed to park in the street until it’s figured out. Sanders said she could pull further down into the alley and into a drive behind her house. According to the police report, on the paperwork, it looked like the drive was also part of the alley and a fence on the Sanders property was built in the legal alley. The issue was temporarily corrected. An officer will follow up with Morrissey.

COLUMBIANA

– George S. Feezle III, 39, East Palestine, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 12:43 a.m. Thursday.

– A Duke and Duchess employee reported at 4:45 p.m. Thursday suspicious men were standing by a truck in the parking lot for several hours. Police spoke with the men who said they were there because they were almost out of gas.

– A Fairfield Avenue woman reported at 11:54 a.m. Thursday a dog was barking non-stop all morning. Police contacted the owner who said he would take the dog inside. The dog was barking at the neighbors while they were having some construction done.

– Harley Hostetter, 19, Pine Hollow Road, Rogers, was driving through the McDonald’s parking lot at 1:46 p.m. Thursday and was struck by a vehicle driven by Jennifer Rhodes, 35, New Buffalo Road, Columbiana, who was pulling from a parking space. No citations were issued due to the crash being on private property.

– Kelly Jones, North Main Street, reported at 3:37 p.m. Thursday vehicle drove past the bus lights when her daughter was getting off the bus in front of her house.

– A woman reported at 9 p.m. Thursday there was a suspicious vehicle by the dumpster at Harmony Village and the driver kept opening the door and closing it. Police checked but did not see the vehicle.

LISBON

– A 2001 Dodge Durango owned by Angel Rannick, state Route 164, Salineville, was parked and not running in the Valley View parking lot on North Market Street at 4:15 p.m. Thursday when it was backed into by a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Rhonda Flory, Morton Street, Lisbon. Flory then pulled forward and struck a parked vehicle owned by George Brown, Steubenville-Pike, Lisbon. No citations were issued due to the accident being on private property.

– Police went to the Park and Ride on state Route 154 at 6 a.m. Tuesday after Brian Durbin, Duke Vodrey Road, East Liverpool, reported the catalytic converter was stolen from his 1998 Ford Ranger while he was at work.

– Nancy Bassham, West Lincoln Way, reported at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday her son Matt Landers threatened her and she did not want him returning home. Landers allegedly told his mother he would flatten the tires on her vehicle and burn the house down.

– A woman reported at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday that while driving on state Route 164 she was behind a white Nissan Altima that was weaving back and forth and driving very slowly. Police checked but could not find the vehicle.

– Beaver Township police reported at 7:21 p.m. Wednesday a black sports car made a U-turn in the state routes 165 and 46 intersection and was then southbound on state Route 46 and continued to drive recklessly. Police checked but could not find the vehicle.

– A Circle K employee reported at 9:58 p.m. Wednesday a car was parked in the handicap space for over two hours and there was no indication it was legally parked there. Police checked but the vehicle was gone.

SALEM

– Norfork-Southern called at 11:29 a.m. Thursday about a wrecked/abandoned vehicle along the tracks on South Ellsworth Avenue. The right front wheel and tire were damaged. A note on the dash said arrangements were made for a tow truck to respond.

– Police responded to the 900 block of Penn Avenue at 10:57 a.m. Thursday for a report of littering/dumping. An employee of a contractor was cleaning a paint brush with a little paint thinner and washed it down the storm drain. The employee and contractor were told about the violation and cleaned it up, then were told the consequences if it happens again.

– James Fisher, of the 700 block of East Fourth Street, reported at 7:31 a.m. Thursday that someone struck his vehicle in the past couple of days.

– A woman in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue called at 3:37 a.m. Thursday to report someone possibly in her attic. The attic was checked and nobody was found. The exterior was also checked and all was okay.

– Police responded at 3:33 a.m. Thursday to CMI, 435 W. Wilson St., for an alarm activation. The business appeared secure but couldn’t be properly checked due to the business being fenced in and locked.

– Salem Regional Medical Center on East State Street reported at 3:15 a.m. Thursday that a patient left against doctor’s orders. The person was located and taken back to the hospital by EMT ambulance.

– Police responded at 2:52 a.m. Thursday to Super USA in the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue for an alarm activation. The exterior was found secure.

– An officer on patrol at 2:33 a.m. Thursday found a vehicle egged in the 500 block of South Union Avenue. After checking the area, another vehicle was discovered egged in the 1200 block of Maple Street. Later in the shift, several vehicles were found egged in the 1200 blocks of East Fifth and Fourth streets.

– Ashley M. Hill, 19, of 11667 Lippincott Road, East Rochester, was taken into custody on a Stark County warrant for contempt of court after a traffic stop at 1:05 a.m. Thursday on a vehicle with only one headlight. Hill was a passenger. She was taken to Lisbon and turned over to Minerva Police who took her to the Stark County jail.

– A man called at 12:27 a.m. Thursday and asked for help finding his friend who had left his residence intoxicated and threatening suicide. An officer made contact with the friend by phone and he said he was at Circle K East by Fred’s Pharmacy on East State Street and to come get him. Officers found him and he was taken by KLG Ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

– A person in the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue was told to keep the music down after a complaint at 12:17 a.m. Thursday.

– A resident in the 2500 block of Lexington wanted his brother-in-law out at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday. He was told the proper eviction procedure, but the person said he was leaving willingly and had someone pick him up. The resident’s daughter gave a written statement that alleged threats made by the person towards her father. The information will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

– A possible drunk driver was reported at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday departing the 600 block of East Third Street after striking an old fence post and getting stuck on a large rock. The vehicle was gone when police arrived, but allegedly frequents the area.

– An officer in the Walmart parking lot on East State Street at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday heard a car alarm start sounding and the lights begin to flash, then saw a person in the vehicle with the alarm still sounding. A passenger in the vehicle opened the door from the inside and the alarm started going off while a family member was inside the store who had locked the doors. The alarm stopped, but the lights were still flashing. The person was trying to contact the family member to correct the issue.

– A clerk at Murphy USA gas station on East State Street reported at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday that a motorist in a dark mini van, possibly a Dodge Caravan, left without paying for $50.44 in gas, traveling north on Cunningham Road.

– A woman in the 500 block of Continental Drive reported at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday that she had four cat food bowls outside and she believes a neighbor took them. The neighbor was contacted and said she didn’t take the bowls.

– A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street reported at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday that a man in a tan SUV left without paying for $30 worth of gas. He was described in his 50s or 60s with blonde hair, balding on top.

– Police were called at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday to the Circle K parking lot, 1125 E. State St., to check the well-being of a woman who fell on the sidewalk, but denied needing medical attention. She left before police arrived.

– A woman on Southeast Boulevard reported at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday that she discovered unauthorized charges deducted from her local bank account since April from two different companies, Travelers Advantage and Shoppers Advantage in the amount of $16.99 per month for each company. She had signed up for a 30-day trial in February and called to cancel in March and has called a half dozen times attempting to make sure the service was cancelled, but the company has continued to deduct the money. The other company she didn’t sign up for. The unauthorized transactions have resulted in additional overdraft fees.

– A woman reported at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday that she was picking up a child from a caregiver in the 900 block of East Fifth Street when a neighboring dog ran toward her child and another dog. The owner did not have the dog restrained but did come over and get the dog. The dog’s owner said the dog got out by accident and was advised of the dog ordinance.

– A dog was reported barking excessively at 4:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Cleveland Street, but nothing was heard.

– Police were called to Walmart on East State Street for suspicious activity at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday. A woman said a man came into her place of employment to inform her of an ad in Youngstown Craigslist by her husband, saying the ad was of a sexual nature. She wasn’t aware of it. The man said he was trying to help her by letting her know it was posted.

– Chase May, 29, of state Route 9, Hanoverton, was charged with criminal trespass and aggravated menacing after police were called at 6:24 a.m. Wednesday to the 500 block of Columbia Street for a burglary in progress. The suspect reportedly fled through an east/west alley behind the residence. An officer located a man matching the description walking out of an alley by Sparkle Market and detained him. The man was positively identified by the victims as the person who attempted to enter their home through a window.

– Police responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at Salem Acres at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday for a suspicious person standing near the entrance of the apartment complex. Police identified the man, who was waiting for a ride.

– Police responded at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 500 block of East Pidgeon Road where a Stewart Avenue resident reported he set up a hunting blind and trail camera in the wooded area on the property near McKinney’s Furniture after receiving written permission from the property owner and now the equipment is gone. The equipment was last seen Sunday.

– A resident in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday that his credit card was used by a former friend without his permission to purchase a ring. After the person refused to make payments to pay off the ring, he filed a report with the credit card company about the misuse. He wanted a report on file.

– A caller at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday reported an acetylene tank fell from a truck at the intersection of the state Route 45 bypass and Goshen Road. The tank hauler returned and loaded the tank back on his truck.

– A resident from Old Coach Lane responded to the township police department to report possible identity theft Wednesday, saying he was contacted by Check ‘n Go about a loan taken out online using all of his personal information. He said he didn’t open the account. He was told to contact the company’s fraud department and file a police report.

-Kristopher Chapman, 33, of Massillon, was cited for driving under suspension, possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia possession after a traffic stop at 11:21 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of West State Street. He was found in possession of a small amount of alleged marijuana and a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana.

– The highway patrol reported at 12:46 a.m. Tuesday a possible drunk driver was on state Route 7 and then pulled into the 7&14 truck stop. Police found the vehicle and determined the driver was not drunk, but was homeless and sleeping in the car for the night.

– The Norfolk Southern Railroad reported at 1:48 a.m. Tuesday an Amtrack passenger was being unruly. Police found the train at the Pittsburgh Street crossing and arrested Roberto Marquez, age and address not listed, for persistent disorderly conduct after he was suspected of breaking a lock off an alcohol locker on the train.

– A Columbiana High School employee reported at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday they were receiving harassing telephone calls during school hours. It was determined the matter will be taken care of by the principals.

– John Kenser, 78, Village Court, backed into a vehicle owned by Vanessa Oaks, Salem-Unity Road, Salem, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No citations were issued.

– Tracie Duffield, South Vine Street, reported at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday her 17-year-old daughter left and said she wasn’t coming back. The girl returned an hour later.

– Erica Williams, Camelot Drive, requested police stand by while she retrieved items from the apartment at 10:21 p.m. Tuesday.

– Miriam E. Maughen, 37, Poland, was driving through the Sparkle parking lot at 11 a.m. Monday and was struck by a vehicle driven by Thelma Rist, 62, state Route 45, Lisbon, who was attempting to pull from a parking spot. No citations were issued.

LISBON

– Laura Carrocci reported there was a fight at the Spruce Street entrance to the Lisbon Cemetery at 6:17 p.m. Tuesday. Police arrived just as two cars were leaving the area and the officer stopped the driver of one. The officer spoke to Austin Dinnington, 19, of Leetonia, who said he and another young man were “mutually combating” but no one was hurt. The other person was identified as Robert Carrocci, who was contacted by phone and said he did not want anything done. Both were warned the next time they would be charged.

– Mitchel D. Kessler, 16, of Lisbon, was driving south in an alley off West High Street when he failed to yield the right of way and struck a vehicle on High Street operated by Donald L. Mason, 63, of Lisbon. The accident occurred at 7:46 a.m. Oct. 8.

– An anonymous caller at 11:39 p.m. Tuesday reported unknown people screaming in the 1100 block of Prospect Street. Police checked the area and found no one.

– An employee of Family Recovery, at the location on Benton Road, reported at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday that a wallet was found in a trash can. The wallet was turned over to police. A family member of the owner was contacted to pick it up.

– A resident on Plymouth Place reported at 6:47 p.m. Monday that a trail cam showed an unknown male trespassing at the rear of the property and walking around the rear door to the residence.

SALEM

– A city housing inspector at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday requested police check a vacant home on Woodland Avenue for a person possibly living there illegally. No one was found and there was no sign of someone living there.

– A set of keys was found at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday while police were on the scene of a private property crash on East Second Street.

– Security at Salem Regional Medical Center reported at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday that a man leaving the hospital fell in the lot, injuring his face. He continued to leave in his truck and it was believed he might be intoxicated. An officer saw the truck westbound on Pershing Street with the driver bleeding from the face. The vehicle was stopped and it was determined the man was suffering from low blood sugar. EMT and fire department first responders came to the scene and he was taken to the hospital.

– Dennis Everhart, of the 400 block of Fair Avenue, reported at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday that someone entered his garage and stole a battery pack case and a circular saw.

– Justin Novak, of the 500 block of Columbia Street, reported at 8:02 a.m. Wednesday that he found several items missing from the residence, including two large televisions.

– Police responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 7:47 a.m. Wednesday for a report about a white Dodge truck belonging to Fastenal damaged overnight. Someone punctured the gas tank, causing gasoline to drain into the parking lot. The city fire department responded for cleanup and used oil dry. The parking area was blocked off until everything was cleaned up.

– A noise complaint was reported at 5 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of East State Street. Officers spoke with a person who said there was just an argument and was told to keep the noise down.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:19 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of West State Street. Police identified the vehicle and owner, who was parked having a coffee.

– An irate male was reported at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Cleveland Street. A woman said her son was angry over an earlier incident which he said involved the mistreatment of another family member. He had since calmed down and asked police to speak with the other family member.

– Donita Wells, of Lisbon, reported at 8:44 p.m. Tuesday that a check was taken from her vehicle while parked in the 1900 block of East Pershing Street and has since been cashed.

-A caller at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday reported someone dumped a couch at the dumpster of an apartment complex in the 400 block of East Fourth Street. An officer made contact with the possible suspect who said it was his couch and he thought the dumpster was public. He was told it was private and he needed to move the couch.

– Police responded to the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard at 6:33 p.m. Tuesday to check for a suspicious male asking for a ride to the downtown area. He was not found.

– A man walking in front of the Goodwill store on South Broadway Avenue heard a cell phone ringing at 6:28 p.m. Tuesday on a bench and turned the phone over to police. Messages were left with two contacts for the owner to identify and retrieve the phone.

-Grafton Brown, of Jennings Avenue, reported at 5:14 p.m. Tuesday that he let someone borrow a cell phone and she was refusing to return it. He was told his options.

– Joseph Michael Smith, 29, of 367 W. Ninth St., was charged with assured clear distance, reckless operation and possession of drug instruments after police responded at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday to an accident on Pershing Street at Lundy Avenue. Smith’s westbound vehicle struck the rear of a westbound vehicle driven by Mitchell Caley, of Cambridge, who was stopped at the stop sign. An officer arrived and told the drivers to move their vehicles into the public lot near Faith Chapel and the officer then saw the driver of one vehicle, later identified as Smith, take off rapidly traveling westbound on Pershing without stopping at the four-way stop. The vehicle couldn’t be located after police were told it turned onto Broadway, then a man on South Ellsworth Avenue reported a truck almost struck his son by the alley and continued westbound in the alley behind Consumers Bank. The truck was found near the back side of a garage still in gear with its lights on but no keys. The owner/operator was found in the bathroom at Speedway across the alley. During an inventory of the vehicle, a syringe was located on the passenger side floor. Smith was searched before being taken to the jail and another syringe was found in his pants along with a possible glass pipe known to be used to smoke crack.

– Police were called for a distraught person in the area of Hawley Avenue/Cleveland Street at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday. A male and female at the residence said all was fine. An officer spoke to the caller who said a male and female were on the porch yelling as kids were going by after school. The male resident also reported a skinny man walking by asked to use his phone. He did not allow him in the residence.

– A caller at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday reported a suspicious sound at Circle K, 780 W. State St., where police were met by the fire department. Firefighters said a pipe was making a hissing sound and they were unable to locate the reason. The same thing may have happened a few years ago with some type of let-off from the gas tanks underground.

– The department received a letter from Dimont & Associates of El Cajon, Calif., which handles hazard insurance claims on foreclosed homes and reported a theft from a home in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street. The home was owned by Round Point Mortgage Servicing Corporation. Plumbing, light fixtures and a vanity all valued at $2,151 were stolen. An officer called Dimont to confirm the validity of the letter and a woman gave two different lock box numbers to enter the residence and verify the claim. An officer Tuesday afternoon attempted to check the residence, but neither number worked.

– A man in the 500 block of East Fourth Street reported at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday that some illegal dumping was going on at the dumpster behind his residence. He said he contacted the landlord/owner, who said his son who lives next door may have allowed others to place material there.

– A woman in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported she and a friend bought a vehicle and both of them are on the title. She put the down payment on the car and the friend was to make payments to the bank. She found out he isn’t making the payments and her credit has suffered so she took the car back. She’s concerned because he reported the car stolen. An officer called the Sheriff’s Office to advise the woman has the car and told her to provide the paperwork.

– An abandoned vehicle was reported at 8:04 a.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of East State Street. The vehicle was located on private property with no plates on it and came back to a woman in Warren. The vehicle was not reported stolen or wanted for anything.

– A caller on Elm Avenue reported two suspicious vehicles at 8:59 a.m. Tuesday parked near the rear of the storage units. She told an officer she felt the male and female were having relations in the Ford Explorer at the rear of the lot. Both vehicles left before police arrived.

– A business on Salem Parkway West reported at 8:09 a.m. Tuesday that a disgruntled employee needed to be removed. While enroute to the business, the person flagged down another officer on Pennsylvania Avenue to tell what transpired at the business. No one was interested in filing charges.

– A suspicious person was reported at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday in the Newgarden Avenue/Liberty Avenue area where a man wearing a red sweatshirt appeared to be flagging traffic. The caller didn’t know if he needed help. Officers found no one.

– An alarm drop was reported at 3:26 a.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of East State Street. The exterior of the business was found secure.

– Police responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue to check on a report at 11:32 p.m. Monday of a 12-year-old boy who had been standing outside a business for some time. An officer was able to identify the boy’s parent and learned the boy was fine. The parent and boy had left in another person’s vehicle.

– At the request of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, officers checked for a vehicle at 10:24 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Aetna Street, but did not locate it.

– A man came to the police station at 9:55 p.m. Monday to speak with an officer, providing third party information pertaining to possible criminal activity.

– Police responded at 9:33 p.m. Monday to the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard where a woman reported hearing strange sounds outside her residence. Nothing suspicious was found.

– A tenant in the 1300 block of East State Street called at 8:36 p.m. Monday to report loud persons in the third-floor apartment. When officers arrived, a woman on the phone was leaving the yard. Contact was made with a tenant and visitor in apartment 3 and they were told about the complaint. The visitor said he was just leaving.

– A man in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street reported at 7:35 p.m. Monday that someone who accused him of stealing money was driving by the residence. He was told his options.

– A boy and a girl, ages 13 and 14 years old, were charged with delinquency after police were called at 6:01 p.m. Monday to the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue for juvenile problems. A man reported finding contraband in the juveniles’ possession. The case is under investigation and will be turned over to the juvenile officer.

– A person to be removed was reported at 5:24 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Prospect Street. Two people were having a disagreement over living arrangements and were told their options.

– A man who owns a three-unit rental property in the 1300 block of East State Street reported at 4:37 p.m. Monday that a new tenant moved in less than three weeks ago and has been creating problems. He asked for his options in dealing with the problem. Eviction procedures were explained to him. He was also told police could be contacted for noise-related issues or any suspicious activity occurring at the property.

– An anonymous person at 4:35 p.m. Monday provided police with information regarding a man allegedly driving with fictitious plates and no valid driver’s license.

– Police responded at 4:34 p.m. Monday to the area of Columbia Street near South Lundy Avenue for a report of a vehicle passing a school bus when the bus had its flashing red lights activated. Police were unable to find the vehicle described as an Oldsmobile Bravada.

– David Flynt, 27, of Cleveland, was cited for soliciting without a permit after police were called at 2:44 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Jennings Avenue for a solicitor. Flynt was found in uniform with all his documents for the company Just Energy which does not have a permit on file to solicit in the city.

– A suspicious person was reported at 11:29 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. The person was found to be okay and just visiting a friend, which the friend confirmed.

– A man in the 500 block of East Fourth Street reported a case of fraud at 10:34 a.m. Monday. He said he received a call two months ago from a person who said he won a grand prize from a sweepstakes and would need to send them $658 by Western Union. He did so and the person called and texted several times since then requesting he send them more money. He sent another $758 a few days ago and received a call from Western Union telling him it was a scam and to pick up his money. He was told to block the number of the person from his phone and to send no more money.

– Francisco Jose, of 610 E. Third St., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, obstruction, no license and reckless operation after police were called for an accident at 9:39 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue. Officers were told the person was taking the license plates off of the vehicle and found the person stumbling and with a slight odor of alcohol about him. He did not speak English well but said he had been drinking and hit a tree. When asked about his license plates, he said he took them off and put them inside the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital to be checked, then placed in custody after his release.

– A man at 8:03 p.m. Saturday reported receiving unwanted phone calls of a threatening nature on a company cell phone.

– Police were sent to the 500 block of Newgarden Avenue at 7:42 p.m. Saturday to check on a juvenile after being told about a possible domestic in the Walmart parking lot. The juvenile appeared okay and a man told police no domestic took place.

– An item found in Centennial Park was placed in the police lost and found Saturday night.

– Kathryn Sims, of West 14th Street, reported at 3:20 p.m. Saturday that she stopped at a business in the 900 block of East State Street and when she came out she found someone had entered her vehicle. Her wallet and cell phone were missing.

– Illegal dumping was reported at 3:01 p.m. Saturday in a back yard on East Third Street where a woman said the residence is empty and someone’s been throwing their trash into the yard. She cleaned the mess up, but said it’s an ongoing problem.

LEETONIA

– An officer responded to a Columbia Street home at 6:39 a.m. Sept. 25 where a resident reported a dog barking at the same time every morning. The officer spoke to the dog’s owner who said she lets the dog out every morning before work.

– A Lisbon-Canfield Road resident reported at 11:29 a.m. Sept. 25 that someone had broken into her property on Lisbon Road and removed copper piping.

– An officer responded to an alarm at a storage shed on East High Street at 1:03 a.m. Sept. 29, but found everything to be secure.

– An officer responded to a residential alarm in the 300 block of Pearl Street at 3:46 p.m. Sept. 29.

– An officer responded to a report of noise in the 200 block of Main Street at 7:10 p.m. Sept. 29.

– A Somer Street resident reported at 11:31 a.m. Sept. 30 that someone had attempted to steal his zero turn lawnmower.

– A Somer Street resident reported at 1:34 p.m. Oct. 6 that she found her pain medication missing when she started filling her weekly pill pack.

– An officer responded to a possible domestic dispute in the 200 block of Main Street at 9:43 p.m. Oct. 7.

– A juvenile was cited for driving a dirt bike on village roadways in the area of Somer Street at 4:10 p.m. Oct. 9.

– Police responded to the area of Main and Walnut streets at 9:36 p.m. Oct. 10 for a natural gas odor.

– The department received two reports of someone soliciting without a permit Monday afternoon. The company was told how to obtain a proper permit.

COLUMBIANA

– Beaver Township police reported at 10:53 p.m. Monday there was an erratic driver in a red pickup going all over the road on state Route 164 in the southbound lane. Police located the vehicle but then lost it in the area of the traffic circle.

– Police warned four kids for loitering in the rear of the fire department lot at 5:36 p.m. Monday.

A man reported at 9:51 p.m. Monday a white pickup and a red sports car were speeding on Woodland Avenue between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Police checked the area but did not see anyone speeding there.

LISBON

– Someone reported at 2 a.m. Monday that a vehicle had been left several hours before at the Valley View convenience store. The license plates came back to U Go Auto Sales in Poland, and the officer told Valley View they could have the Cavalier towed at the owner’s expense.

– A caller reported someone in the 400 block of North Jefferson Street was yelling at their children in the back yard for quite some time. The call was at 2:15 p.m. Monday, and police spoke to Buffy Malone and she was told to dial back the volume or go in the house. Malone said she would keep it down.

– Judy Hackenson, East High Street, reported at 2:43 p.m. Monday there were people going door to door, and police caught up with one of them on East Chestnut Street and told them they need to obtain a permit from village hall.

– James D. Harter, 36, North Market Street, was charged with public intoxication at 1 a.m. Tuesday while walking on North Market Street near Beaver Street. This was after police received a call about an intoxicated man walking to his wife’s home on North Market Street.

– A Redwood Drive, Beloit, resident reported at 6 p.m. Sept. 25 that her daughter had stolen her vehicle but that she didn’t want her arrested, just that she return the vehicle.

– A Williams Street, Beloit, resident reported at 7:55 p.m. Sept. 26 that an unknown person had sent him a text message of a penis.

– Police responded to a theft report in the 18000 block of Fifth Street, Beloit, at 10:10 p.m. Sept. 26.

– Officers responded to a state Route 534 home at 8:40 a.m. Sept. 27 for a reported suicide attempt and found a man in his garage with a vehicle running. Officers were able to talk him out of the garage and he was taken to the hospital.

– Police responded to the Church Street, Beloit, area at 6:20 p.m. Sept. 28 where someone reported a man was using obscenities toward her when she walked past his house. The man was told to stop.

– Police responded to a 13000 Main Street home at 3:32 p.m. Sept. 30 where a woman reported that her boyfriend was breaking household items during a verbal argument with her.

– Rose M. Eichler, 35, 2267 state Route 45, Salem, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated following a traffic stop for marked lanes at 1:46 a.m. Oct. 1.

– Police responded to burglary report in the 13000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 9:15 a.m. Oct. 2.

– Police responded to a 13000 block state Route 534 home at 1:50 p.m. Oct. 2 where a woman reported her brother was drunk and being verbally abusive.

– Police responded to theft report in the 10000 block of state Route 45 at 4:35 p.m. Oct. 3.

– Kylie Lynn Daniel, 20, 477 Washington St., Salem, was charged with underage consumption after an officer checked on a vehicle parked at White House Fruit Farm at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 4.

SALEM

– A dog at large was reported at 6:23 a.m. Monday on Franklin Avenue at Southeast Boulevard. The owner arrived and was able to get the dog into a vehicle.

– Robert Moore came to the police station at 1:19 a.m. Monday to report another theft from his business in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, saying a person he knows saw a man loading scrap metal into a red truck. The thefts are under investigation.

– Police were called to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street at 11:33 p.m. Sunday for a well-being check on a resident. The person seemed very tired and was not acting like his normal self according to his mother and grandmother. He agreed to be taken to a hospital by a family member. Officers had been called to the residence at 11:04 p.m. also to check the well-being of a male and had been told he went for walk. When he returned, officers responded and he was taken to the hospital by a family member.

– An officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked in the 500 block of Prospect Street at 11:28 p.m. Sunday. The owner was aware of the situation.

– Police responded to the 1800 block of Oak Street to check the well-being of several children at the request of a family member at 11:26 p.m. Sunday. An officer made contact with three children and their mother and all were fine.

– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 11:21 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Jennings Avenue and West State Street sitting at a stop sign on Jennings Avenue. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived and could not be located.

– A domestic was reported at 10:24 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Hawley Avenue where police learned it was an argument only.

– A suspicious person was reported walking on Hawley Avenue and East Third Street at 10:17 p.m. Sunday, but no one was found.

– Police responded at 10:14 p.m. Sunday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a disorderly person. The person calmed down after speaking with officers and agreed to be treated.

– A fight was reported at 10:09 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West State Street. When officers arrived, the fight was over and both parties had separated. Officers were told it was verbal and both parties were willing to go their separate ways.

– A suspicious person was reported at 9:16 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. No one was located.

– A vehicle lockout with a child inside the vehicle was reported at 5:37 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Continental Drive. Entry was gained without incident.

– A loose cow was reported at 5:31 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Merle Road. The cow was found inside the school’s football field and the owner was there trying to catch the animal. Several family members arrived and the animal was tranquilized and placed in a stock trailer.

PERRY TWP.

– Township police responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 1:58 a.m. Monday for a welfare check at the request of Salem police, who said a person called and couldn’t reach another person by phone. The other person was located and told to contact the person who called.

– Police were called at 8:02 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of Benton Road to look for a red Cavalier involved in an incident on Salem Grange Road. A red car was seen pulling into a lot and a female entered a trailer. An officer knocked on the door, but there was no answer. The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office then said police were no longer needed.

– Police responded to two different calls regarding deer Sunday afternoon, with one on Depot Road near Pidgeon Road and one on North Lincoln Avenue. Police also received a call at 4:21 p.m. Saturday about a dead deer dragged onto a neighbor’s property.

– A woman on Maryland reported suspicious activity around two vacant houses no Taylor Avenue. Police found a light on inside one residence and the door unsecured, but no one was found inside. The light was shut off and police secured the residence. The other residence is undergoing remodeling.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported on Indiana Boulevard near State Boulevard, stopped on the side of the road near a vacant residence. Police had no contact with anyone and found all doors and windows to the residence secure.

– Police were dispatched at 6:22 p.m. Saturday to the 300 block of Benton Road for a vehicle that hit a building. Police learned the owner of the building was aware of the situation. They were removing a vehicle off a trailer and it rolled into the building. The damage was cosmetic only.

– Clifford R. Mullan, 35, of 1360 W. State St., was taken into custody at 1:21 p.m. Saturday at his residence at C & C Trailer Court on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for criminal trespass. He was taken to the county jail by a deputy.

– A woman in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue reported a possible scam attempt, saying an unknown male claiming to be with the IRS left a message stating she needed to call back within one business day or face criminal charges. Police spoke with other agencies around the area who have had similar complaints and found them to be scams. She was told not to return the call.

– Police were called at 8:59 p.m. Friday to a domestic lock-out at a residence on Canterbury Lane, but it was learned the other half of the alleged domestic was not there and the argument took place over the phone. The caller was unable to gain entry without a key. A key was located and the person gained entry without any problem.

– Police were asked to assist Salem with a mentally challenged male known to be combative in past experiences and possibly armed at 5:48 p.m. Friday.

COLUMBIANA

– A man reported at 8 p.m. Sunday a vehicle was off the road on state Route 14 by the Jeep dealership. Police checked but the vehicle was already gone.

– The Columbian County Sheriff’s Office requested at 9:20 p.m. Sunday an officer stand by with a deputy for a call on Fairfield School Road.

LISBON

– Police were called to a home on East Washington Street at 5:37 p.m. Saturday in regard to a possible drug overdose. Police spoke with Vincent Fink, who was sitting on the basement floor trying to put on his shoes. Fink estimated he took 16 prescription Adovans with alcohol to get a “buzz” and was not trying to hurt himself. An ambulance crew arrived, but Fink refused to go to the hospital. He was alert and fully conscious, and the other people who lived there said they would call back if his condition changed.

– Police were called to VRS Hometown Loans on North Market Street at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 in regard to a customer urinating on the lobby counter and carpet. The person was identified as a 52-year-old Salem man who had been turned down for a loan. The surveillance tape showed that his pants also appeared to be wet. A customer entering the store also saw that the man’s pants were wet as well as the carpeting and wall. The person was identified as Delmer R. Knauff, who was charged with criminal mischief.

– Alice Bivens, Steubenville Pike, reportedly unparked her pickup truck into a vehicle operated by Eunice Burkey of Salem in the Circle K parking lot at 3:12 p.m. Oct. 8.

– Bob Borg, West Washington Street, reported at 10:36 p.m. Oct. 3 he was trying to leave for work but a pickup in the alley was blocking his driveway. The truck license plates came back to Ralph Flugan, who could not immediately be located. After Borg managed to get out his driveway, police went to Flugan’s home on Pritchard Avenue but no one was there. At 1:54 a.m. Oct. 4, the officer saw the same truck going through town and followed it to the Pritchard Avenue address. Jesse Flugan answered the door and said he had been visiting his friend who lives on West Lincoln Way. Flugan was advised he cannot park in the alley or the next time he could be towed.

– Dennis R. Roberts reported he was walking his dog on Maple Street near Donna’s Bicycle Shop at 4 p.m. Friday when a pit bull ran up and attacked his dog. No one was injured and Roberts said he managed to chase the pit bull away. Police checked the area but did not come across any dog.

– A caller reported at 11 p.m. Oct. 7 that someone on Sherman Street has been running a generator continuously for the past 10 days or so. Police arrived and spoke with the person at 235 Sherman St. and told him about the noise ordinance. He agreed to turn off the generator.

– Karen Adams, East Spruce Street, reported Oct. 8 someone committed identity theft involving her Social Security number in an attempt to obtain unemployment benefits in the name of Karen Lambert. The unemployment agency intends to investigate the matter.

– Police were asked to contact Kevin Kriss, Maple Street Extension, at 4:43 p.m. Sunday. Police found Kriss at home and told him his family in New Cumberland, W.Va., was trying to contact him.

SALEM

– Police on patrol in the 2000 block of Southeast Boulevard at 8:45 a.m. Friday observed a person with a roofing company known to have a warrant on them. Judson J. Edling, 31293 U.S. 62, Salem, was turned over to deputies and taken to the Columbiana County jail.

– At 8:18 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 400 block of East Perry Street for a report of juvenile problems and checked the area and found none.

– At 9:53 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 100 block of Park Avenue where the complainant advised that between Oct. 7 and 8 an unknown person removed money from one of her cards and attempted to get cash out of her bank. A younger person had called about some refund on windows she owed for and he gave her a number and she thought it was legitimate. Some type of skype talk, she was unsure if that was it. The card company advised and it would handle the process and she notified the bank.

– Police responded to the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 8:41 a.m. Friday and the complainant advised that overnight a Garmin GPS was taken from a vehicle parked in the drive. Papers and other things were scattered around.

– Police located Richard A. Holbrook, 340 N. Ellsworth Ave., in the 200 block of Park Ave. at 1:12 a.m. Friday and took him into custody on an outstanding warrant for receiving stolen property. He was taken to the Columbiana County jail.

– At 1:58 a.m. Friday police responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard where a garden hose was pouring water onto the street. The resident said it was being used to drain their swimming pool.

– Police responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 4:29 a.m. for a possible fight and were unable to locate any altercation. Two women tenants advised there was no fight or argument.

PERRY TWP.

– Police responded to assist KLG ambulance with a combative male patient who had fallen in the 1100 block of Beechwood Drive. Police arrived at 8:57 p.m. Thursday and were advised by the mother that the man took an unknown pills causing him to become combative. He had a few lacerations on his head and they were able to get him into the ambulance without incident and he was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

– Police responded to Salem Acres in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 6:47 p.m. Thursday and the complainant advised her 12-year-old son was harassed by an older man. The youth stated the man made a fist at him and told him he better run. Police made contact with the man’s girlfriend and advised her of the complaint. She said her boyfriend was not home and did not know there was a problem and said she would have him contact the police.

– A Prospect Street resident observed two very young children in the middle of Prospect Street at 4:29 p.m. Thursday and stopped to get them out of the street and called police who were unable to get any information from the children as to where they lived. The complainant said they appeared to have come from Salem Acres and found a juvenile who advised she had siblings matching the description given. The children were reunited with the older juvenile, and a parent also arrived home. The parent claimed the juvenile was supposed to be babysitting them. Information will be forwarded to Children Services for a follow-up.

COLUMBIANA

– A woman reported at 10:56 a.m. Thursday a black and white dog had its chain wrapped around a telephone pole on North Pearl Street. Police contacted the Columbiana County Dog Warden and the dog’s owner, Ryan Parke, later came to the police station and was advised to keep the dog better secured.

– James Russell, Court Street, reported at 9 p.m. Thursday he came home and found his door open and the lights on. Nothing was reported missing.

– Fire Chief Rick Garrity went to the police station at 9:21 p.m. Thursday to check around after an area of the station started to smell like something was burning after turning on the heating system. No problems were found.

– Police went to a vehicle crash on Old 14 near McMasters Farm upon request by the highway patrol. Police detained the driver, Melissa Riddick, until the patrol arrived.

– Police met at 11 a.m. Thursday with a couple on East Seventh Street who said their handicapped son was being bullied at the junior high school and on the way home from school. School officials told them to also call police regarding the incidents on the way home. Their son is being kicked, punched, spit on and told to do harmful things to himself by a girl who won’t leave him alone. She’s supposedly known for this type of behavior and the school said they’re trying to take care of it there. The case will be turned over to the juvenile officer. They also reported a witness on Cleveland Street saw it happening on Wednesday and made the girl stop hitting their son.

– A woman reported at 10:15 a.m. Thursday that one of her clients in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue told her someone took six pills from a recently-filled medication. The pill count was confirmed by the pharmacy. She said the client thinks it was someone she knows. An officer told the woman the process if the client wants to pursue charges.

– A woman in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 9:56 a.m. Thursday that she received a letter from the Ohio Department of Taxation in reference to a man that lives with her. She said she lives alone and does not know who the man is and believes someone might have stolen her identity. She was given a report number for the Ohio Department of Taxation and her bank in case there are problems with her account.

– Open burning was reported at 9:52 a.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The resident had just moved to Salem and was not aware of the burning laws. When advised it was illegal, he extinguished the leaves he set on fire.

– A woman in the 800 block of East Third Street reported at 9:20 a.m. Thursday that her estranged crazy boyfriend kicked in the door to her apartment, then ran off heading west on East Fourth Street. She said he just got out of prison. He wasn’t found. Paperwork will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

– Kari Miller, of 1763 Maple St., was taken into custody at her residence at 8:59 a.m. Thursday on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for contempt of court. She was taken to the county jail.

– After a traffic stop at 6:20 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West State Street, the operator gave the officer consent to search the vehicle. No weapons or contraband were found.

– Marcie McMannis, 38, of Albright Avenue, Columbiana, was cited for open container in a motor vehicle after a traffic stop at 1:44 a.m. Thursday on East State Street at Southeast Boulevard. The officer making the stop saw the rear passengers making movements and reaching around the rear seat and they failed to comply when ordered to stop. For officer safety, the passengers were checked for weapons and one was discovered to be in possession of open containers of beer. A second passenger denied having open containers and McMannis, the passenger who ultimately ended up with both, was told she was being charged. She said the beverages were not hers, but would not implicate the persons who had them. The driver was given a verbal warning for a traffic offense.

– An officer at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday checked on a person draped with a blanket walking along the sidewalk on Franklin Avenue near Washington. The person said they were just taking a walk around the block and all was fine.

– Police responded at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of East Third Street to check the well-being of a man at the request of Goshen Police. An officer affirmed that he was okay and learned he was upset over recent issues with his girlfriend’s family. He had been living with her and her parents, but they recently kicked him out, leaving him with no money and no place to stay. He was told to contact Goshen Police regarding the issue of residency and his belongings since the residence is in that jurisdiction. The officer spoke with the man’s father who said he could stay with him. A friend provided him a ride to his father’s residence.

– A woman called police at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday to check on her mother on Washington Avenue, saying her mother was ill and she had not been able to get in touch with her at her residence. An officer spoke to her and found everything okay.

– Melissa Shingleton, 32, of 620 Granite Ave., was taken into custody by the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Officer at her residence on an active warrant, with Salem police assisting at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday.

– An animal was reported in the road in the 2600 block of East State Street at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday, but was not found.

– A woman on Washington Avenue reported at 7:28 p.m. Wednesday that her mother has custody of her 3-year-old son and she stopped at her residence on Woodland Avenue to check on him, but she had an argument with her mother. She asked officers to check on her son. An officer responded and affirmed all was fine.

– A caller reported juveniles in the road in the 400 block of Continental Drive at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday, but they were gone when officers arrived.

– Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 5:21 p.m. Wednesday for a report of unattended children. Officers spoke to a man who was watching the children from inside the residence while preparing dinner.

– Janet Baker, of South Lundy Avenue, reported at 4:43 p.m. Wednesday that she lost her cell phone in the 100 block of Second Street.

– A caller at 1:14 a.m. Thursday reported a suspicious vehicle parked at East Pine Lake Road and Egypt Road, an area commonly known as the location of Cry Baby Bridge. Police found one vehicle parked there. A 20-year-old male and a 20-year-old female, both from Youngstown, were found sitting on the bridge with candles and a Ouija board. They were told they were trespassing and would have to leave, which they did.

-Anne M. Grande, 37, of 483 Euclid Ave., was cited for left of center after her northbound car traveled left of center and struck a southbound car driven by Debra Cook, of Salmar Drive, at 4:52 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue.

– An anonymous caller at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday reported loud music in the 800 block of Stewart Road. The source was located where a resident said they turned the radio on and ran into the house for a minute. The homeowner turned it down.

– A resident in the 1300 block of Jennings Avenue called at 9:19 a.m. Wednesday to report receiving a notice on their door four to five months ago from a company called Bermex who said they worked for Columbia Gas, They had requested permission to enter the residence to service parts for Columbia Gas, but the resident was not home at the time of the visit. The resident received a phone call from a representative of Bermex on Tuesday who requested to set up a visit to inspect the equipment in the home. The resident was told to contact Columbia Gas to verify the validity of the call.

– A resident on Elberon Avenue reported at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday that he was receiving threats from a person known to him. He was told his options.

– Maria Mousie, 20, of Youngstown, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 62 (North Lincoln Avenue) when she struck a deer at 1:42 a.m. Wednesday.

– Terry Dougherty, 47, of Salem, struck a deer at 5:46 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of state Route 344.

– Lawrence Laffey, 51, of Columbiana, ran off the right side of the road in the 1800 block of state Route 344 at 6:16 a.m. Wednesday and struck a deer lying on the shoulder that had already been struck and killed.

LISBON

– Michael A. Moderelli, 37, of Boardman, was charged with driving with an expired license plate and contributing to the delinquency of a minor following a traffic stop on Saltwell Road near Greentree Apartments at 2:11 a.m. Thursday. The contributing charge had to do with the fact his passenger was a 16-year-old Lisbon boy who was out past curfew without his mother’s permission.

COLUMBIANA

– Police stood by for a crash on state Route 14 at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday until the highway patrol arrived.

– A realtor reported at 9:13 a.m, Wednesday they entered a house on Apache Lane that was sold to check on it and found the appliances and copper pipes had been removed.

– The highway patrol reported at 12:34 p.m. Wednesday a possibly intoxicated driver was heading to Columbiana from state Route 344 and was going very slow. Police located the vehicle and did not see any erratic driving.

– Janet Rubbo, North Middle Street, reported at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday there was a problem with a security service called Sach Solutions. She said she was contacted by who she thought was Apple but instead was Sach Solutions and she did not authorize any charges to be billed to her debit card however she was still charged.

– A man reported at 8:37 p.m. Wednesday there were some suspicious people walking around where the auctions were held by Kellner Storage. Police checked and found that the group was allowed to be there.

– A resident reported at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday that an elderly man put his cane on a vehicle and drove off, with the cane falling into the street in the Eastgate Plaza area. The cane was placed in the police lost and found.

– A woman on Cedar Ridge Drive reported at 11:59 a.m. Wednesday that the 16-year-old child in her custody has been chatting online with a 21-year-old and she does not want the child to have contact with the man. An officer tried to contact the man, but there was no answer.

– Christy Keglor, 40, of 693 Fair Ave., was served Wednesday at the Columbiana County Jail with an arrest warrant for receiving stolen property. A report at 11:12 a.m. said an officer aware of the warrant was also aware she was incarcerated at the jail where she was then served with the latest warrant. Keglor had been taken into custody at a Barclay Avenue residence at 7:04 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant out of Columbiana County for larceny and turned over to a deputy.

– A property owner on Salem-Unity Road reported at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday that a semi truck making a delivery to Rent-A-Center exited the lot and the trailer struck the cement curbing on the north side that exits to the plaza and Home Depot. The driver did not stop.

– An officer saw a truck leaving Tractor Supply in a rapid manner and exceeding the speed limit at 10:46 a.m. Wednesday, followed the vehicle to Murphy’s USA and made contact with the driver. He said he was late for work and apologized. Another man in an SUV pulled up and began to confront the driver for his reckless driving, using profanity and threatening him. The officer calmed him down and checked the SUV for damage, finding none and sending him on his way. The driver of the truck received a verbal warning.

– Randolph Bauman, 37, of 192 S. Lincoln Ave., was taken into custody at 9:43 a.m. Wednesday at his place of employment at Randy’s Barber Shop on South Lincoln Avenue on a warrant for failure to pay child support. He was taken to the county jail.

– A domestic was reported at 5:19 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard where police made contact with two female tenants. There was no domestic, but one of them was having a medical issue. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance responded to assess her, but she refused transport to the hospital.

– Thomas Papic, 30, of 623 Woodland Ave., was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension and expired registration during a traffic stop at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on Woodland near Pershing.

– Police responded to the Walmart parking lot at 12:58 a.m. Wednesday for a report of lost or stolen medication. An employee said she dropped her purse in the lot when she got to work and a male found the purse and returned it to her inside the building. Everything was there except for her medication.

– A loud explosion was reported at 11:24 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue. Nobody responded at a residence where the sound allegedly originated and no one was found outside.

– A Lisbon man came to the police station at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday to speak with an officer regarding a property issue between himself and his ex-girlfriend. She locked him out of a Fair Avenue residence and refused to let him inside, allegedly per the instruction of the landlord. She moved out and was supposed to open the door so he could retrieve his belongings but never did. He’s since learned she moved his belongings to her parents’ property and he wants them back. He was told it may be a civil matter. An officer will attempt to contact the ex-girlfriend and information will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for a review to determine if theft charges may apply.

– A man came to the police station at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday to report he was homeless and needed assistance. He was advised the closest homeless shelter was in Youngstown.

– Three passengers in a vehicle struck from behind at 9:04 p.m. Tuesday were taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of injuries. The injured included Heather Laizure, 27, and Shelly Laizure, 24, both of Ohio Avenue, and Devon Stokes, 4, of North Lincoln Avenue. They were passengers in a vehicle driven by Darryl Stokes, 47, of North Lincoln Avenue, who pulled out of a driveway and was southbound on Lincoln when a southbound vehicle driven by Jacob Fisher, 20, of Washington Street, didn’t slow down in time and struck the Stokes vehicle from behind. Fisher was cited for assured clear distance.

– An unwanted male was reported at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of East State Street. A man wanted his brother removed from the apartment where he had been allowing him to stay on the weekends and had some belongings. The brother was highly intoxicated and in no condition to leave. He agreed to go to sleep. The man was told they would need to work out the living arrangements or he could seek an eviction.

– A man reported at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday that he saw a silver Chevy Blazer back into the front bumper of a Chevy truck in the Consumers National Bank parking lot and leave. He provided a description of the female driver. The owner of the struck truck was Theodore Bricker of Salem, who came out while police were there.

– A domestic was reported at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot at Dunkin’ Donuts, 2823 E. State St. A woman reported she was having an argument with her boyfriend, but he left. No physical contact occurred.

COLUMBIANA

– Ted Ossoff Jr. reported at 3 p.m. Tuesday a flag was stolen from Valley Golf Course and was now in a yard on West Salem Street. Police spoke with the resident who said they knew nothing about the flag being in his yard and allowed the owner to remove it.

– A Valero employee reported at 3:27 p.m. Tuesday a man was asking customers for money even after they asked him to leave. Police identified the man as Lloyd Moore, current address unknown, and someone from Salineville volunteered to give him a ride to Lisbon.

– Howard Gebhardt, Timberline Drive, reported at 5:46 p.m. Tuesday there was a raccoon in his back yard. Police checked but the animal was no longer there.

– Officers responded to the 13000 block of Church Street at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15 where a woman reported two men were fighting in the street. It was found to be a verbal argument.

– Police responded to a Fourth Street, Beloit, home at 3:26 p.m. Sept. 16 where the resident reported her son and his soon-to-be ex-wife were verbally arguing and that the woman would not leave. The woman was warned from the property.

– Police responded to the area of state Route 165 and Beaver Creek Road at 8:49 p.m. Sept. 17 where a woman reported finding a marijuana plant on her property. Upon investigation officers found approximately 20 plants.

– A 12000 block state Route 165 resident reported at 2:40 p.m. Sept. 18 that she received a phone call regarding owning the IRS money. She then obtained a prepaid card and gave the individual the numbers so he could obtain the money.

– Police responded to a theft in the 8000 block of state Route 165 at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 18.

– A Pine Lake Road resident reported at 5:50 p.m. Sept. 18 that someone had obtained her debit card number and made unauthorized purchases.

– The Sharon Lynn girls home reported a runaway client at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 19. The juvenile was found several hours later.

– Alyssa Marie McQuire, 21, 125 High St., Washingtonville, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 4 in which she was westbound in the 7000 block of state Route 14 when she traveled off the roadway and struck a sign. No injuries were reported.

– Amanda L. Pedro, 25, 861 E. Sixth St., Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 11:20 a.m. Oct. 4 in which she was northbound in the 9000 block of U.S. Route 62 and struck the rear of vehicle driven by Brent T. Reisner, 19, Salem, who was waiting to make a left turn. No injuries were reported.

– Richard Holbrook, 51, of 317 N. Ellsworth Ave., turned himself in at 3:12 p.m. Tuesday at the police station on a warrant for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor charge. He was released on a recognizance bond.

– A woman on Fair Avenue reported at 2:23 p.m. Tuesday that she recently found an unauthorized withdrawal from her checking account that occurred within the last few days. She suspected a family member, but did not want an investigation or arrest made. The bank assisted her with changing her account numbers.

– Georgette Kramp, 48, of Fair Avenue, was cited for assured clear distance after her westbound vehicle struck the rear of a westbound vehicle driven by Barbara Keagy, 73, of Manor Drive, Columbiana, who stopped to turn into a parking lot in the 2200 block of East Pershing Street at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

– A woman in the 900 block of East Third Street reported at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday that her now ex-boyfriend whom she lived with in Kensington took papers belonging to her clients that were kept in a bag at the Kensington residence. She said he’s trying to blackmail her with the papers. She was referred to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office since the theft took place in Kensington. She was also referred to the prosecutor’s office on getting a protection order.

– A woman on Lexington Avenue reported at 11:02 a.m. Tuesday that she and her boyfriend had an argument and she left. When she returned to the apartment, she noticed her boyfriend damaged some property they are renting. He left with his belongings. An officer tried to contact him through his employer, but was told he quit earlier in the morning. Police were unable to make contact with him.

– No citation was issued after Tonia Gerber, of state Route 344, struck a sign post while turning into the city hall parking lot from Filbert Alley at 10:42 a.m. Tuesday, shearing off the post at the ground. The front bumper of her vehicle was damaged.

– A man in the 500 block of East Fourth Street reported at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday that he received a phone call from someone saying he won money and a vehicle. The person on the phone said he only needed to pay $299 to receive the grand prize. Officers tried to contact the company holding the sweepstakes, but the number was not valid. He was told to not pay any money since it was a scam.

– Police responded at 11:13 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of West State Street for an unoccupied vehicle with the passenger door left open. Officers shut the door and secured the vehicle.

– Police were called at 10:42 p.m. Monday for a deer in the road in the 1100 block of North Lincoln Avenue. The deer was found deceased, with traffic able to proceed in both lanes until Perry Township could remove it.

– Loud persons were reported at 8:41 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of East Fifth Street. Officers spoke to several persons talking on a front porch who said they didn’t realize they were being too loud.

– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 6:54 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of West State Street. Perry Township Police stopped the vehicle and city police assisted, with Perry taking the driver into custody.

– An anonymous caller at 6:31 p.m. Monday reported possible water running in the restrooms at Centennial Park. Officers did not find any running water, but noticed some water on the floor, possibly from the restroom being cleaned. No damage was noted.

– Arthur Bowen, of Duck Creek Road, reported at 6:13 p.m. Monday that his vehicle was damaged in the Walmart parking lot on East State Street.

– Police were called at 5:56 p.m. Monday to the 600 block of Woodland Avenue for loud music and a possible altercation at a residence. Officers made contact with a resident who was upset over personal matters and turned the volume up after an argument with his girlfriend who had left. The report said he told police he was angry and felt being arrested was the solution. He didn’t want to hurt himself and declined medical attention. He agreed to turn the music down and spoke with the officer about several issues.

– An officer spoke with a resident at 5:30 p.m. Monday regarding someone making suspicious comments.

– A woman in the 300 block of North Howard Avenue reported at 3:41 p.m. Monday that a neighbor lets her dog outside in the rear yards and the dog has been doing its business in those yards. She confronted the neighbor and the neighbor said the dog had done it for years and used profanity towards her. The other yard is owned by Lincoln Machine. An officer attempted to contact the neighbor but she would not come to the door. Officers could hear the dogs barking loudly in the house on West Fourth Street. A warning was left on her door. The next offense will result in citations for dogs at large or animal defecation removal.

– A domestic was reported at 3:34 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of East Fifth Street. Both parties were upset over family issues. No injuries were visible. One person agreed to leave for the night.

– A caller at 3:56 p.m. Monday reported a vehicle parked in a handicap spot in the 200 block of Penn Avenue. No illegally parked vehicle was found.

– Police were notified at 10:48 p.m. Monday about a deer carcass on the road on North Lincoln Avenue north of 11th Street and removed it.

– Kevin L. Ring, 56, of Prospect Street, Salem, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence after a traffic stop at 6:52 p.m. Monday in the Circle K parking lot on West State Street. Police had been called to the area for a report of an intoxicated driver in an older blue Chevy car and saw the car swerving left of center multiple times.

– Vallon T. Fields Reynolds, 25, of Youngstown, was cited for assured clear distance after her northbound vehicle on North Lincoln Avenue struck the rear of a northbound vehicle driven by Gisela Vazquez Dones, 33, of Youngstown, who was stopped in traffic waiting to turn onto East 17th Street at 3:46 p.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.

– Police were called at 8:43 a.m. Monday to the 1100 block of Prospect Street in Salem Acres for a domestic dispute between two females. They were told police could not remove anyone since they both live together. Domestic violence laws were explained and both parties agreed to talk things out.

COLUMBIANA

– Firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle crash on state Route 7 at 6:43 a.m. Monday to provide assistance for the highway patrol.

– Thomas Navarra, New Castle, Pa., was driving in the Dutch Haus parking lot at 2:49 p.m. Monday and backed into William Starn, Beaver Falls, Pa., who was parked. No citations were issued due to being on private property.

– A woman reported at 3:16 p.m. Monday a kitten was struck in the traffic circle. Police found the animal was dead and took care of it.

– A woman reported at 9 p.m. Monday a house on East Metz Road that was empty had a dark-colored car parked in the driveway and she could see someone inside with a flashlight. Police went to the home and found it was the sister of the owner and there were no problems.

– The sheriff’s office requested assistance at 9:24 p.m. Monday with a call on Edward Circle. Police found the suspect at the home on Springfield Road and stood by until a deputy arrived.

LISBON

Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 2:17 p.m. Saturday where Rafael Coronado said he believes a neighbor has a hit out on him. He was advised to come back to the police department to provide a complete statement.

– Scott Treleven, East Lincoln Way, called at 8:07 p.m. Saturday about a suspicious black Saturn outside his home. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

– Megan Morrow, Maple Street, reported at 9:21 p.m. Saturday she noticed the back door was open even though she keeps it locked. She also observed that the basement door was open a crack, so the officers checked the basement and rest of the house but did not find anyone in the house.

– Darrin James, 48, of Lisbon Road, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and given a warning for operating an illegal cab after an officer approached him in the Circle K parking lot, 780 W. State St., at 1:52 p.m. Monday. The officer saw the cab operating on West State Street near Sharp Avenue and knew the company was known to be operating without a valid city license and the operator was driving under a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle pulled into the store parking lot and James quickly exited and the passenger entered the driver side. The officer spoke to James as he left the store.

– Ruth Thorn, of Diamond, reported at 10:25 a.m. Monday that she had been at the Salem Walmart on Friday and when she came outside, she noticed her passenger side rear door had a long scratch on it as if it had been keyed.

– An officer on patrol at 6:18 a.m. Monday located a tractor trailer with no lights on Allen Road parked on the road near Pennsylvania Avenue. The driver was woken up and told to move his truck. He thought he wasn’t on any road when he parked.

– A motorist at 2:24 a.m. Monday was given a warning for a violation on East Fifth Street and North Lincoln Avenue during a traffic stop. The vehicle was checked for contraband, with none found.

– Police responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for a possible dispute reported at 8:57 p.m. Sunday. Officers did not hear any arguing but made contact at an upstairs apartment where several people were carrying on. The resident said he was having a get together, but there was no argument or dispute.

-Police responded at 6:19 p.m. Sunday to South Ellsworth Avenue to check south from State Street for a report of a reckless red SUV. The vehicle was not found.

– An officer saw a vehicle parked on the city easement in the 600 block of South Union Avenue at 6:04 p.m. Sunday. The owner moved the vehicle.

– Police were called at 5:08 p.m. Sunday to remove a person. A man said he allowed a female to stay at the residence and now he wanted her removed. He was told an eviction would be needed. Both said they would be civil to each other.

– A large hole was reported in the road at the intersection of East Pershing Street and South Union Avenue at 4:47 p.m. Sunday at the stop sign. A note was being left for the street department.

– Robert Cronin, 52, of Sue Drive, Lisbon, was charged with possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor, after a traffic stop at 2:47 p.m. Oct. 1 in Salem. An off-duty trooper had been following a vehicle that had a strong odor of marijuana coming from it and reported it. An officer was given consent to search the vehicle and noticed a strong odor of marijuana and a bulge in the man’s wallet, asking to see what was in the wallet. The marijuana was located.

PERRY TWP.

– A man on Ansley Way reported at 7:19 p.m. Sunday that after a recent breakup, his other half has been calling and leaving inappropriate messages. The two parties still have property to exchange and that’s what the messages were about. Police spoke with both parties and told them to go their separate ways.

– Police responded to a domestic dispute reported at 2:49 p.m. Saturday between a cohabitating male and female on Cunningham Road. A female could be heard screaming in the background as the caller hung up on Salem Police who also responded to assist. The male left the residence and ran into the woods before police arrived. The female said there was no physical violence. She just wanted to gather her belongings and leave with her child. While police were on scene, the male called the department by phone wanting to meet an officer at the station to give a statement. Police remained until the woman and child gathered belongings and a ride arrived to take them away. The incident is under investigation.

– An officer on patrol at 12:57 p.m. Saturday saw people soliciting meat and seafood out of a truck on Elberon Avenue. They were identified and advised of the ordinance against soliciting in Perry Township and to stop. They were given a copy of the township resolution and sent on their way.

COLUMBIANA

– Philip A. Withers, 43, Macklin Road, New Springfield, was stopped in traffic on North Main Street at 4 p.m. Sunday and was struck from behind by Colby Elias Wayne Gum, 21, Blueberry Drive, Columbiana. Gum was cited for assured clear distance.

– The highway patrol reported 5:37 p.m. Sunday there was a reckless driver westbound on state Route 14 from Unity Township. Police found the vehicle but did not see any traffic violations.

– The Columbiana Manor manager reported at 8:53 p.m. Sunday there was a suspicious man between the doors of two apartments asking for money as people were coming out. Police spoke with the man, identified as Vincent Fink of Lisbon, who said he was waiting for a friend who lives in another building. He was warned to leave the property until his friend returned home.

– Jamie Bertolette, Fairfield School Road, reported at 10:47 p.m. Sunday he was receiving unwanted text messages from someone he knows.

LISBON

– A female caller reported there was a dog with a short chain that was unable to move behind a residence on East Lincoln Way at 3:49 p.m. Friday. No one was home and the dog was found chained to a shed. The dog appeared to be in good health but was unable to move because the chain had become stuck under the shed door. The officer went to East of Chicago, where the dog owner worked, and she told police the dog is only outside when she is at work. She was told the law requires outside dogs have access to food and water. She was also told they need to keep the chain from getting stuck. The officer checked later and found the chain was no longer stuck under the shed door.

– Police were called to the county courthouse parking lot in regards to someone sleeping in a van at 9:28 a.m. Friday. Police found a young woman, who stated her mother works at the court while she remains in the van all day, passing the time by sleeping and reading. The woman was told to have mother contact the court and explain why she is there.

– A caller reported someone was trespassing at 120 S. Lincoln Ave. at 7 p.m. Thursday. Police determined the person was there to do some work.

– A loud music complaint was received for 133 N. Market St. at 1:23 p.m. Saturday. Police did not hear any music but spoke with the resident, who was advised of the complaint.

– Police assisted helping a man with medical issues into an ambulance on East Washington Street at 4 p.m. Saturday. The man had trouble breathing and walking.

– The Leetonia village manager reported at 10:30 a.m. Friday that sometime within the past week, someone removed a barricade and sign from property owned by the village at the intersection of Butcher and Canfield roads.

– A resident in the 3000 block of Carrier Lane, Leetonia, reported at 11:37 a.m. Sunday that a neighbor on Grafton Road was illegally burning. The Leetonia Fire Department also responded and spoke to the homeowner about open burning laws.

– A caller at 12:50 p.m. Sunday reported that a man removed the license plates off of a vehicle parked behind Giant Eagle on East State Street and then put them on his truck. An officer checked vehicles in the area and found no license plates missing. The vehicle in question was located parked near South Lundy Avenue. It was discovered the plates belonged to a female occupant. They were not stolen.

– A reckless vehicle was reported at 12:43 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of East State Street, but was not found.

– The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office advised police at 4:28 a.m. Sunday of a vehicle possibly heading into the city that was involved in an accident and fled the scene. The vehicle was not located.

– Police responded at 4:05 a.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Arch Street where an argument occurred between a boyfriend and girlfriend, but nothing physical took place. The male homeowner wanted the female to leave. Both were intoxicated and wanted away from each other. She was given a courtesy ride home.

– Brenda Tomlin, 23, whose last known address was state Route 517, Lisbon, was taken into custody on a felony warrant out of Mahoning County for possession of heroin after a traffic stop at 12:39 a.m. Sunday. Tomlin was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for several violations on Fair Avenue near East State Street. She was turned over to a Mahoning County deputy.

– Police were called at 9:02 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue for a report of criminal damaging and possible shots fired at a residence. The resident said a loud noise was heard outside, then a window in the home shattered. An officer saw that the outside window pane was shattered, but not the inside pane. A brick was seen outside that appeared to have caused the damage. Nobody was found.

– An unruly juvenile was reported at 9:01 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue. An officer spoke with the juvenile and her parents and she was told she would have to listen to house rules or face the consequences. The parents were told their options.

– A well-being check was requested in the 100 block of South Howard Avenue at 8:49 p.m. Saturday. An officer spoke with the people and found everything okay.

– An officer on patrol at 6:28 p.m. Saturday saw a person operating an ATV on the road in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue. He was told he can’t operate the vehicle in the road and apologized, saying he would put it away.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 5:01 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of West Wilson Street. Police were told the domestic was between family members and involved no physical violence, only yelling. All involved were told to get along for the rest of the day.

– A possible theft was reported in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:31 p.m. Saturday. An employee of the store said a customer reported a possible theft outside in the parking lot. The surveillance footage was reviewed, but it wasn’t clear if any theft occurred. The owner will review the tape further and call police if anything is found.

– A husband and wife in the 300 block of West Eighth Street reported by phone that two guns were stolen from the residence over the past month. The man said he was checking with area pawn shops.

-City police responded to the 1100 block of Cunningham Road at 2:52 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township police with a domestic in progress. The officer remained on scene while the township conducted an investigation.

– Police were called at 12:05 p.m. Saturday to the 1800 block of East Third Street for a burglary in progress. A woman who wasn’t expecting her husband home yet was in the basement and heard someone upstairs so she went outside and called police. It was found that it was her husband.

– Police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 11:32 a.m. Saturday for a report of counterfeit money. The report said nine $100 bills were received from two different females for two different transactions. Walmart was sending the money to the proper agency. The case is under investigation.

– A police officer and the city humane officer responded at 9:59 a.m. Saturday to a vacant residence on East Third Street to check for animals. No cat was observed and the home was secure.

– A domestic was reported at 11:38 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of West Eighth Street. Police learned it was a verbal dispute between family members, with no physical violence reported. One person left for the evening.

– A Columbiana woman came to the police station at 3:05 p.m. Friday for a complaint of menacing and threats. She went to pick up her cousin and her cousin’s two small children at a home on South Lundy Avenue. When she was walking out of the house carrying one of the children, a person from across the street started screaming obscenities and making threats towards her. She said at one point he charged at her and the child. She and the witnesses were asked to write statements.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– While on patrol, police found an unoccupied vehicle in the lot of Columbiana Lutheran Church at 1:47 a.m. Saturday. Police checked the area, but found nothing suspicious happening.

– While sitting stationary on state Route 14 near 4WD Hardware at 5:22 a.m. Saturday police saw a pickup strike a deer, which ran out in front of it. The deer was killed instantly and removed from the roadway. There was no damage to the pickup and the driver declined to have a report filed.

– A sick goose was reported at 8:37 a.m. Saturday in one of the open lots in the back bay area. The goose was located and euthanized by police.

– Michelle Barnhart, Court Street, reported at 9:57 a.m. Saturday a Jeep was parked in front of her home in the “No Parking” zone. A citation was issued to Catherine Miller, North Lima.

– Kevin Zarnosky, Salem, was northbound on North Main near Parkview, sitting stationary in a line of traffic at 5:22 p.m. Saturday. Richard Rankin, Columbiana, was also northbound and slowing for the stopped traffic, but his brakes failed and he struck the back of Zarnosky. No citation was issued.

– Katie Woods, Columbiana, was stopped in traffic southbound on North Main Street near Ace Hardware at 8:38 p.m. Saturday when Joseph Moon, Columbiana, failed to stop and struck Woods from behind. Moon was cited with assured clear distance.

– Noah Wade, 26, of 973 Fair Ave., was charged with criminal trespass and being a fugitive from justice after police were called at 3:02 a.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of East Third Street for a burglary in progress. Police arrived to find the suspect detained by the homeowner after allegedly trying to break into a vehicle. Wade was wanted on an active warrant out of Monroe County, Indiana for theft/fraud/forgery. He was taken into custody on the warrant as a fugitive from justice and charged with the trespassing for the local incident. He was taken to the Columbiana County jail to await extradition.

– Loud music was reported in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:16 a.m. Saturday, but officers found everything quiet.

– A vehicle was seen in Centennial Park after hours at 1:10 a.m. Saturday. An officer contacted the occupant and made him aware of the park hours.

– Loud music was reported at 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Union Avenue, but officers were unable to hear any music.

– A caller at 7:47 p.m. Friday reported a reckless vehicle in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop to check on the driver. She said she was fine, but was having difficulty seeing in the heavy rain and was afraid to pull over for fear of being struck by another car. She was told to be more careful in the future.

– Police responded at 7:18 p.m. Friday to the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a person to be removed. A man said he allowed a friend to stay with him for the night and he was refusing to leave. An officer told the friend he was no longer welcome.

– Police responded at 6 p.m. Friday to the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a well-being check and made multiple attempts to get in touch with a male, but no contact was made.

– An officer on patrol at 5:54 p.m. Friday saw a pickup illegally parked in the 700 block of Prospect Street with the left side to the curb. The owner moved the vehicle.

– An officer saw an illegally parked vehicle at 5:14 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of Monroe Street and issued a parking citation for parking with the left side to the curb.

– A parking violation was reported at 4:45 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue where two females in separate vehicles were unaware of their parking violations. Both vehicles were moved.

– Police responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street for a report of debris falling off of a building into the street at 4:37 p.m. Friday. Officers located several bricks in the street at the Salem Fun Factory, 520 E. Pershing St. It was determined the bricks had fallen off of the front of the building in question. The fire department was called to check the integrity of the remaining bricks. Owners of the building cleaned the roadway and barricades were set up on the sidewalk. The fire department remained on the scene for about 10 minutes.

– A caller at 3:07 p.m. Friday reported a suspicious vehicle, an Ocean City Police Department cruiser, running in the parking lot of a business at 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. The vehicle was determined not to be suspicious. The department was on a recruiting trip.

– A woman on East Fifth Street reported at 2:44 p.m. Friday that she cashed a check for her sister for $75 and the check bounced.

– A caller in the 500 block of East Seventh Street reported at 1:52 p.m. Friday that a man was in the alley acting suspiciously. Police could not find him.

– Connie Geho, of West Fourth Street, reported at 12:54 p.m. Friday that someone entered her vehicle overnight and possibly took some loose change.

– A cell phone found at Hope Cemetery was turned over to police at 12:33 p.m. Friday and placed with the dispatcher.

– Police responded to an alarm drop at 11:15 a.m. Friday at a business at 2368 E. State St. where the store manager said a man was creating a disturbance but left before officers arrived. He was not located.

– A debit card found in front of Smith Oil on East State Street was turned over to police at 9:47 a.m. Friday and placed in the lost and found.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– A Fairfield Avenue woman reported at 8:55 a.m. Friday she heard a noise on her front porch but couldn’t check on it. An officer checked the area and did not locate anyone or anything.

– Kate Holm, Beverly Drive, reported at 1:41 p.m. Friday a raccoon was acting sick in her backyard.

– A tan purse was turned in at 4:26 p.m. Friday. The purse belonged to a Bittersweet Drive woman, who said she would be in to pick it up.

– A Court Street woman reported at 5:10 p.m. Friday someone was walking around in a vacant house next door with the lights on. An officer met with the people in the house, who were employed by the bank to winterize the house.

– John Arusffi, owner of Arusffi Laundromat, reported at 6:03 p.m. Friday someone was washing horse blankets after they were warned not to do it.

– A reckless driver was reported at 6:46 p.m. Friday traveling east on state Route 14 in a white Ford F-150.

– An officer found an open shed door at 7:01 p.m. Friday at a house on Lakefront Drive. Everything appeared secured.

– High water was reported at 8:35 p.m. Friday at the underpass. An officer checked and said the water was high but passable.

LISBON REPORTS

– David Reynolds, Sunset Drive, reported at 10:42 a.m. Thursday he sold a PVS14 night vision monocular on eBay for $1,600 to a woman in Pleasanton, Calif. He said the woman tried to report on eBay that she did not receive the item despite proof he provided that it was received through tracking. She then tried to report that it was the wrong item, contrary to the pictures posted online, and wanted to return it. Reynolds then said he received the box and videotaped himself opening it, which contained a silver can of dog food and not the monocular in question.

– David Lee reported at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday he was dropping off a load of logs on state Route 154 when he discovered clothing and numerous items down the street, which to him appeared to be new but suspicious, and after speaking with his boss, he turned the items over to an officer. The items were determined to belong to Jeffrey M. Littleton, Clanton, Ala. An officer attempted to contact Littleton, but could only leave a message on his voicemail.

SALINEVILLE REPORTS

– On Sept. 30, police responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance on McGavern Road. Upon arriving, and investigating the incident, police arrested Michael Grzymala and charged him with domestic violence.

– On Sept. 26, officers were dispatched to an East Main Street residence in regard to a vandalism complaint. Officers spoke to the resident who explained she had found a rock and a black trash bag in her dryer vent. The resident advised there have been ongoing issues with someone damaging or altering her property. Officers documented the damage.

– On Sept. 21, police were dispatched to an East Main Street residence for a female reporting her boyfriend took her vehicle without consent. After further investigation, the vehicle was found to not be registered in her name. Police learned Wellsville Police had conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and the driver was arrested on warrants. The vehicle was then impounded.

– On Sept. 21, Salineville firefighter Chris Bentley notified police of a power line down at Village Hall. Bentley told officers he was going to notify the mayor and council members. Officers blocked of f the area and contacted the power company. AEP employees arrived at 8:15 p.m. and repaired the downed lines.

– On Sept. 21, an Academy Street man reported that while walking down the street, a neighbor began an argument with him. Ultimately, the two men exchanged words with one another and police were called. Both parties were told to end all communication with each other or criminal charges would be pursued.

– On Sept. 21, police were dispatched to the Saline Oil & Supply Co. for a report of vandalism. Officers arrived and spoke to an employee who reported that while test riding a motorcycle he noticed items that appeared to belong to the company, as well as railroad equipment, on the railroad tracks. Upon returning to the business to check for missing items, the employee reported company vehicles had been entered and searched. While police were investigating, an employee of the Norfolk-Southern Railroad Co., arrived and checked the equipment belonging to the railroad. The railroad employee reported damage of an undisclosed amount. Police are investigating the incident.

SALEM

– Patrolling officers observed two small children unattended by the roadway in the 1200 block of Maple Street at 1:34 p.m. Thursday. One of the children ran into the roadway to fetch a stick. Officers advised the mother in the home about the incident and she said she had not realized they left the house.

– An officer responded to a report of open burning in the 100 block of Hawley Avenue at 1:57 p.m. Thursday and saw smoke coming from a pile of burning wood being tended by a man and woman. The fire was found to be of legal size.

– An East State Street bank employee reported at 2:28 p.m. Thursday that the bank lost $808.33 in a check kiting scheme in August and September.

– Patrolling officers were waved down by a West View Avenue resident at 5:51 p.m. Thursday by a resident who said they did not want heavy farm equipment on the roadway since it is a private road. Officers spoke with the person in question who agreed to find another route.

– Officers responded to the 600 block of Aetna Street at 6:19 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported juveniles breaking into a neighbor’s shed, but left prior to officers’ arrival. An officer identified the juveniles later in his shift and warned them against their actions.

– Officers responded to the area of North Lundy Avenue and East Second Street at 6:59 p.m. Thursday for a report of a highly intoxicated person walking and saw a man stumble into traffic. The officers were told that the man had just left the Salem hospital because he did not want to be there any longer following a previous incident. First responders and ambulance responded to evaluate the man, and he was transported back to the hospital.

– Officers responded to the 600 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:55 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious person and found a 600 block Franklin Street resident. The man was advised of the complaint.

– Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the roadway in the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:14 p.m. Thursday, but were unable to find anything.

– Officers responded to a 600 block Franklin Street home at 9:54 p.m. Thursday where a woman reported a man she did not know had entered her property and accused her of calling the cops on him. The man was warned not to return.

– Officers responded to possible shots fired in the area of North Union Avenue and East Third Street at 10:12 p.m. Thursday, but were unable to find a vehicle matching the description.

– A patrolling officer noticed a group of individuals, one of whom had a open container, in the 100 block of West State Street at 12:31 a.m. Friday. The individual was warned about the open container and a search of a vehicle revealed items to construct contraband but nothing to warrant criminal charges.

– Clayton T. Powell, 53, Streetsboro, was arrested on warrants out of Portage County for felony drug and misdemeanor traffic charges after a patrolling officer observed him in apparent distress in the Salem Public Library parking lot at 2:41 a.m. Friday.

– Police responded with first responders and ambulance to a West Pershing Street home at 9:35 a.m. Friday where a man reported seeing his aunt lying unresponsive on the floor when he went to check on her. She was found to have died from natural causes.

– Carl William Young Jr., 41, 202 John St., Salineville, was cited for driving under two suspensions and fictitious plates following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Cunningham Road at 10:55 a.m. Thursday.

– James R. Willison Jr., 29, 926 Jennings Ave., Salem, was cited for driving under four suspensions, fictitious plates and expired registration following a traffic stop on state Route 9 at Price Road at 1:31 p.m. Thursday.

– Police were advised of a barking dog complaint in the 1100 block of Liberty Street at 1:53 p.m. Thursday but the caller refused to give any information to the dispatcher. An officer drove by and observed a lawn care provider working in the yard, but found no barking dog.

– A Prospect Street resident at 5:14 p.m. Thursday requested to report a stolen vehicle that she loaned to someone who had failed to return it in a timely manner. She was informed that a stolen vehicle report could not be filed since she loaned the vehicle willingly. An officer spoke with the suspect who denied picking up the vehicle.

– Police and ambulance responded to a medical emergency in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:53 p.m. Thursday. A person was transported to the Salem hospital emergency room.

– Amy Anderson, South Cross Street, reported at 11:18 a.m. Thursday there were fraudulent transactions on her Xbox account.

– Danny Ruscoe, New Waterford, was exiting the traffic circle eastbound on East Park Avenue at 12:31 p.m. Thursday and was rear-ended by Steven Malone, Lisbon. Malone was cited for assured clear distance.

– Debbie Bianco, Canfield, reported at 1 p.m. Thursday she was assaulted on Tuesday by her ex-boyfriend.

– Ruth Peterson, South Main Street, reported at 1:52 p.m. Thursday two of her checks were stolen and forged in Lisbon. She was referred to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.

– Police stood by for a child custody exchange at 2:30 p.m. in the police station lobby upon the request of Doug Fox.

– A woman reported at 2:41 p.m. Thursday there was a woman in the park with her dog unleashed and was allowing it to chase geese. Police found Maureen McNamara and warned her to put her dog back on its leash or she would be cited.

– A woman reported at 7 p.m. Thursday there was a reckless driver headed into town on Columbiana-Lisbon Road. Police found the vehicle but observed no traffic violations.

– Police responded at 11:09 a.m. Thursday to remove a bicycle found in the rear lot area/west side of a building in the 700 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. The bicycle was placed in the impound area.

– John Monroe of the 700 block of Summit Street reported at 9:21 a.m. Thursday that he woke up in the morning to leave for work and his work vehicle was gone. The vehicle was entered as stolen, but at 12:15 p.m. he called back and said he found it.

– Police were called at 6:26 a.m. Thursday to the 600 block of East Third Street for a report of a woman making comments about harming herself. Officers spoke with her and she agreed to be taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT Ambulance.

– Adam Little, 30, of state Route 558, Salem, was cited for fictitious plates after a traffic stop on West State Street and Benton Road at 1:30 a.m. Thursday. An officer had checked the registration on the department’s mobile system and the registration didn’t match the vehicle.

– An officer returning after assisting Perry Township Police in the 1800 block of Newgarden Avenue was advised at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday about a male and female in the road arguing near the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and the state Route 45/62 bypass. Nobody was seen walking along the bypass. An employee at a nearby business said the male and female were last seen walking south on state Route 45. A Perry Township officer arrived and helped the Salem officer search south to Golf Club Drive, but no one was found.

– A caller at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday reported an intoxicated driver on East State Street and South Madison. The vehicle was located near East State Street and Lincoln Avenue and stopped. Police found no sign of impairment. The driver said she may have been distracted by the children in the back seat.

– Police responded to the 1800 block of Newgarden Avenue for a call at 10:43 p.m. Wednesday to assist a Perry Township Police officer with a report of a male possibly trying to force entry into a home. The person was identified as a resident of the home. There had been a dispute between the man and his wife.

– A man on East Sixth Street reported at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday that he and his previous girlfriend split up and she won’t return his cell phone. He acknowledged he gave her the phone to set up through a Straight Talk plan while they were together. He was told it’s a civil matter since they had a disagreement about the phone before splitting up. An officer was unable to make contact with the former girlfriend. The man was told he would have to go to small claims court.

– A juvenile problem was reported in the 500 block of East Perry Street at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday. A man said his daughter was having behavioral issues. An officer spoke with the juvenile and both were given options for dealing with the situation.

– A New Waterford woman reported at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday that she had an incident involving her nephew following her to work. The incident began near Crestview school and continued into the city of Salem. He was in his vehicle pulling up close to the rear of her vehicle then backing off several times. She did not know his intentions and planned to seek a protection order.

– Rob Moore of Moore M-R Specialty of Pennsylvania Avenue reported at 1:27 p.m. Wednesday that someone has been taking scrap from the scrap hopper during the night time hours. The theft is under investigation.

– An officer at 11:02 p.m. Wednesday responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the parking lot of Circle K south on South Lincoln Avenue and spilling into the street. Upon arrival, the people involved had left on foot in an unknown direction. Nobody was located.

-KLG Ambulance reported at 10:41 p.m. Wednesday that they were responding to the 1100 block of West Perry Street for a suicidal male. Upon arrival, an officer and medics spoke to the male who was despondent over a breakup and job loss. He agreed to be transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for a mental evaluation.

– Police responded to a call at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday of a male forcing entry into an occupied residence in the 1800 block of Newgarden Avenue. It was discovered the male lived there and had an argument with his wife. He left for theevening.

LISBON

– A guidance counselor and principal from the high school alerted the police department they were going to check on the welfare of a student who lives on Chestnut Street at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday. The student, who was having problems the day before, had failed to come to school that day and not called off. Police and school officials went to the home but no one was home.

– Ian C. Catlett, Dobson Hill Road, Lisbon, was stopped in traffic on West Lincoln Way at 1:37 p.m. Tuesday when his vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle operated by Roger L. Jarrell, East Lincoln Way.

– A caller reported there were people behind the bank on West Washington Street being loud and sounding like they were having a good time at 12:57 a.m. Tuesday. Police told the group they could need to keep it down or risk being cited. They agreed to comply and the loud one of the group decided to leave.

SALEM TWP.

– Constable Dan Valrntine received a report from a resident in the 3000 block of West St., Leetonia, at 8 p.m. Tuesday who advised that three batteries were stolen from his garage. Two were bad and one was newer. The matter is under investigation.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Michael C. Sharp, 39, 13901 S. Main St., Beloit, was cited for possession of marijuana after officers responded to his home at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday where his girlfriend said he began throwing items in the house during an argument, breaking a window. She said he sprayed possible pepper spray then left the home on a bicycle headed toward Sebring. Sharp was stopped 20 minutes later in the 18000 block of Fifth Street and turned over a bag of marijuana and a Vicodin pill for which he claimed he had a prescription.

– Rose M. Eichler, 35, 2267 state Route 45, Salem, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop for marked lanes on U.S. Route 62 near Slater Road at 1:46 a.m. Wednesday.

SALEM

– A disorderly/irate person was reported at 11:33 a.m. Wednesday in the Sparkle Market parking lot at 423 S. Lundy Ave. Police talked with the male known to officers and he was afforded some items to take home with him and walked to his residence on Walnut Street.

– A dog reported at large at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday on Sixth Street was not found.

– A red suspicious vehicle reported at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday was found in the 300 block of East Sixth Street. The driver said he was waiting for someone, but moved the vehicle after being advised about parking.

-Kevin Gibbons, 39, of East Oregon, Sebring, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 6:47 a.m. Wednesday on Jennings Avenue. The officer had prior knowledge that the owner did not have a license.

– No citation was issued after Jessica Wolfe, 40, of Woodsdale Road, reported at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday that she bumped a telephone pole at Franklin Street and Filbert Avenue. She said someone cut into her lane and she swerved to miss the oncoming vehicle, striking the pole. There was no damage to the pole, but the passenger side window of her GMC Sierra shattered due to the mirror being shoved into the window by the pole.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Continental at 3:53 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a male walking in the area wearing only a flannel shirt. No one was found.

– Police responded to South Broadway and Franklin at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious person looking into vehicles. The person was located and had permission to be in the vehicles.

– An officer at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday saw a vehicle at a business on Elm Avenue after hours and made contact with a man who had permission to be there.

– An officer at 9:09 p.m. Tuesday saw a vehicle parked with the left side to the curb and made contact with the owner, who moved the vehicle.

– A resident in the 700 block of South Lincoln Avenue called at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday to report someone possibly trying to get inside. The exterior and surrounding yard were checked, but nobody was found.

– A woman in the 800 block of East Third Street reported at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday that a known male was making harassing calls to her cell phone. She played back a recorded message of the person threatening her with physical harm, with the call originating from a phone confirmed to belong to his brother. An officer contacted the brother and he confirmed the suspect used the phone. He was told to make sure he doesn’t use the phone to call the woman. He was told to tell the suspect he could face charges and if the harassment persists, additional charges of menacing by stalking may be warranted.

– Police were called at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of East Perry Street where a woman was having a verbal dispute with a juvenile. Officers told the juvenile to go to her room and not cause any more problems for the night. The woman was told if the juvenile is unruly, file charges with Juvenile Court.

– Police handled a domestic dispute involving a family residing in the 500 block of East Perry Street at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday when two female juveniles came to the police station to report a dispute with their little brother and stepfather. The little brother allegedly told the stepfather that his sister hit him and the stepfather confronted the girls, allegedly grabbing one by the wrist and pulling her arm. The other girl alleged he struck her in the mouth. The mother came to the station with the brother and reported an ongoing issue of unruly behavior by both daughters. She wasn’t there when the incident occurred. The brother said the altercation developed when the stepfather attempted to take the daughters’ phones. The stepfather said there was an argument and the one girl began screaming when he took the phone and he placed his hand over her mouth because she wouldn’t stop. He denied striking her in the face and the brother gave a similar account. All were advised of the domestic violence laws. The parents were told to call police during unruly behavior and they could follow up in Juvenile Court. The incident was documented for the prosecutor and Children Services will be notified.

– A 48-hour notice was placed on a vehicle that had not moved on the west side of Hawley at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. A complaint had been received on Sept. 24 and the owner said the vehicle was disabled but would be moved. An officer will check it today.

– A woman on North Lundy Avenue came to the station at 6:17 p.m. Tuesday to file a harassment report. A man she knows has been sending text messages regarding inappropriate messages involving her child. She wants him to cease contact. An officer contacted the man and told him to cease all contact.

– Mark Conroy, 45, of 1207 E. Third St., was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct while voluntarily intoxicated after police were called to the 900 block of East Third Street for an intoxicated male trespassing in a back yard at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday. The man had been ordered earlier not to return to the property or he would be arrested. The female resident had called at 5:12 p.m. to have him removed and he was told not to come back.

– An unwanted intoxicated man was reported at 4:37 p.m. Tuesday on a front porch in the 1100 block of East Third Street, but was not found. He left before police arrived.

– A woman in the 500 block of West Sixth Street reported at 4 p.m. Tuesday that she was having trouble with a juvenile coming home and leaving the residence. An officer spoke to the juvenile after the juvenile was found by the mother in the area of School Street.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday for a neighbor dispute. A woman said the neighbor behind her residence was having a tree service remove a tree and the company had been driving their truck through her yard, causing tire marks. She confronted the neighbor, who said the piece of land where the truck was driving was a city alley. The officer contacted the zoning department and learned that portion is legally a city alley, however, if it’s not an improved alley, which it was not, then no vehicles are allowed to drive on it. The officer advised the neighbor of the findings and referred him to the zoning department. The woman said some of the tire marks were on her property.

– Police were called at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday to East Sixth Street where an 18-year-old male and his uncle got into an argument over house rules. Both agreed to leave to let the situation cool off.

– Police responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday for a dispute between two males. One male was found to be dating the mother of the other male and some pushing and shoving occurred, but nothing further. The boyfriend left to prevent further problems.

– A clerk at Smith Oil, East State Street, reported at 1:56 p.m. Tuesday that an older male in a gray Buick left without paying for $35.44 worth of gas. They’ve had problems with that pump before, but she did not see where anything was swiped through this time.

– A domestic was reported at 1:48 p.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of East State Street where a male and female were having an argument over their child and the female was to help the males’s mother move. They were told the possible consequences.

– A woman on Adams Avenue reported at 12:28 p.m. Tuesday that she received 50 calls from a man claiming to be from the Texas sheriff’s department who said she needed to come up with $600 or a warrant would be issued for her husband and they would be there that night to take him into custody. Her attorney looked up the caller and allegedly found that he has taken large amounts of money from others in the same scam. An officer tried to contact the person, but got a Middle Eastern talking male who said he had just come to Texas two months ago from Mexico and didn’t know what the officer was talking about. The woman was told if the person calls back, tell him a police report was filed.

– A resident in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue called police at 12:21 p.m. Thursday to request personal information on an individual to serve an eviction notice. He was told the department does not provide residents’ personal information to the public.

– A resident in the 1100 block of East State Street reported at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday that he came home Monday and a known female was on his porch on crutches crying that she was homeless, so he let her stay for a night. On Tuesday morning, he found cash missing from his wallet and confronted her but she denied everything. She told him she was going to a doctor’s appointment, but he felt she left to go buy drugs. She wasn’t found.

– A woman on South Howard Avenue reported at 9:58 a.m. Tuesday that a known female who resides in Perry Township has been calling her place of work in the city about her granddaughter. The female is the granddaughter’s aunt. She’s fearful her employer will be upset with her and said she doesn’t know how to get in touch with the granddaughter. An attempt will be made to have the aunt contacted.

SALEM

– A woman on West Sixth Street came to the police station at 6:59 a.m. Tuesday to report an unruly issue with her child, who refuses to listen to her and is constantly breaking her rules. She was told the process of contacting Juvenile Court to pursue unruly charges.

– A man in the 400 block of Franklin reported at 11:37 p.m. Monday that someone stole a shotgun from his residence sometime Monday.

– A loud party was reported at 11:08 p.m. Monday on Continental Drive. An officer made contact at an apartment where two people were engaged in conversation and said they had been laughing, but there was no party. They said they would keep it down.

– Police responded at 10:28 p.m. Monday to Salem Regional Medical Center, 1995 E. State St., to speak with a woman. She was advised it was a civil matter.

– Police were called at 9:26 p.m. Monday to the 1600 block of East State Street for a domestic dispute. A woman said the father of her child was intoxicated and threw a baby bottle across the room. They had been arguing, but no physical violence occurred. The man said he had been arguing with her and threw the bottle because he was upset. He said he would stay in the basement for the night. The domestic violence laws were explained.

– Police responded at 8:34 p.m. Monday to the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive for a dispute between a mother and son. The woman said her adult son was giving her problems and shouting at her. She asked about having him move out and was told her options. The son said he had been arguing with her but no physical violence occurred. The domestic violence laws were explained.

– An officer on patrol at 7:55 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Prospect Street saw a small juvenile run out into the street in front of his patrol vehicle. The juvenile said he was going across the street to get his shoes. A family member was contacted and the juvenile was supposed to be going inside with other juveniles but decided to go back across the street. An adult was told to supervise the juvenile closer.

– An anonymous caller at 6:03 p.m. Monday reported a man with a gun in the area of Washington Avenue and East Pershing Street. The person in question was located. He did not have any type of weapon and had been working on his vehicle.

– Police delivered a message to a city resident in the 300 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 5:38 p.m. Monday. He was advised to contact a family member.

– Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Monday to check on a person who allegedly fell down in the middle of the road. They were unable to locate anyone in distress.

PERRY TWP.

– No injury was report after Ray Pennington, 66, of Madison Street, Leetonia, struck a deer with his westbound vehicle on state Route 344 near Cunningham Road at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday. The car was driven from the scene.

– A dog was reported barking continuously in the 1100 block of Liberty Street at 5:58 p.m. Monday. The owner agreed to take the dog inside for the remainder of the night.

– A woman in the 600 block of West Pidgeon Road reported her ex-spouse drove past her residence and shouted an obscenity at her. She was unable to get a plate number, but said the vehicle was a green four-door. She was told to call back if other problems arise.

– Tyler James Davis, 21, of Beacon Light Road, Lisbon, was cited for driving under license forfeiture suspension after a traffic stop at 12:51 p.m. Monday on state Route 45 at state Route 9.

COLUMBIANA

– Kevin Orwick reported at 11:45 a.m. Monday a PI&I Motor Express truck turned onto Southern Street and knocked down a telephone pole, knocking down the wires, and kept going.

– At 5:46 p.m. Sunday police checked on a report of a vehicle that was disabled on East Park Street at Elm Street that was causing a traffic hazard, but the vehicle was already moved.

– David Collins, Creek Road, New Waterford, reported at 8:11 p.m. Sunday there someone in a white utility van driving recklessly westbound on state Route 14 and went left of center several times, almost hitting something to the ridge of the edge line. Police located the vehicle on East Park Avenue and the driver, Mark E. Liggett, 55, Columbiana, was arrested and cited for OVI.

– A woman reported at 10:52 p.m. Sunday three people in a red van went into the Family Dollar and left the van door open. Police checked and found they were employees waxing the floors that night.

– A man reported at 10:51 p.m. he could hear what sounded like a dispute at a home at the corner of Fairfield and Woodland avenues. Police went to the home and found a 3-year-old boy was refusing to go to bed.
