POLICE REPORTS

PERRY TWP.

– An officer responded to a report of a disabled vehicle or disoriented driver at the intersection of state Route 9 and state Route 45 at 1:44 p.m. Thursday. The officer spoke with the driver who said his vehicle had broken down.

– Police responded to the 1300 block of West State Street at 3:23 p.m. Thursday for a report of vehicles parking in traffic lanes, but were unable to find any vehicles in the roadway or along the side of the road.

– Police took a report of a two-vehicle crash at 6:27 p.m. Thursday in which a northbound vehicle driven by Lindsay T. Kriebel, 21, Canfield, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Jennifer M. Tedrow, Wellsville, while she was stopped waiting for a passing train on South Lincoln Avenue. No citations were issued nor injuries reported.

– A Jones Drive resident reported at 8:31 a.m. Friday her trash can missing from her yard. An officer found the trash can down the street and returned it.

– A resident in the C&C Trailer Court on West State Street reported at 1:17 p.m. Friday reported family members had been threatening to smash out all the windows of his vehicle regarding a incident that occurred at the home approximately a half hour earlier. The resident was advised how to obtain a protection order and to contact his phone provider to have the numbers blocked.

SALEM

– Police responded to a 500 block East State Street business at 12:42 p.m. Thursday where a woman reported an employee had yelled at her and told her to leave. The employee said the woman was not wanted at the store.

– An Arch Street resident reported concerns about a nearby family at 12:47 p.m. Thursday.

– Police responded to a Woodland Avenue home at 12:58 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported someone he knows stole his socket set and pawned it at a local pawn shop. Officers checked the pawn and found that no one had dropped off the tool set.

– Representatives from a 100 block Jennings Avenue business reported at 2:08 p.m. Thursday finding a trash container on wheels and an old sewage type pump base missing. Upon checking with a metal recycling business in the city, they found that a known man had used the trash container to wheel the pump there and sell it.

– An officer responded to an East Third Street home at 4:30 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported a juvenile had approached her child asking about narcotics.

– An East Fifth Street resident reported on station at 5:38 p.m. Thursday that his friend had taken several dollars worth of coins after he had him over for dinner. When contacted the friend said that the resident had given him the coins, but agreed to return them.

– Police responded to an East Fourth Street home at 8:45 p.m. Thursday in reference to a loud person and found a woman banging on the door wanting to speak to one of the residents. The woman was told that she was not welcome at the home.

– Nicole L. Lee, 31, Hawley Avenue, Salem, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to her home at 12:44 a.m. Friday for a report of a domestic dispute and determined it to be with her live-in boyfriend.

– Andrew D. Conner, 26, 929 Franklin Ave., Salem, was charged with obstruction of official business and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers responded to his home for a report of shots fired and he kept closing the door and running back inside the home despite being told to stop. Once inside officers found a marijuana pipe in plain view on the kitchen counter.

COLUMBIANA

– Eric M. Francis, 34, South Main Street, Columbiana, was going through the Burger King drive through at 7:58 a.m. Thursday and then put his vehicle in reverse to get a better view of the menu and struck a vehicle driven by Robert E. Huff Jr., 57, Boardman, causing minor damage. No citations were issued due to being on private property.

– Christopher Boone of Columbiana, was eastbound on East Salem Street at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and struck a parked car owned by Bonnie Keene of Rochester, Pa. Boone was cited for assured clear distance.

– An Ohio Edison employee reported at 2:25 p.m. Thursday a boat was up against the Ohio Edison fence at the substation on Pittsburgh Street. Police contacted the owner who agreed to move it.

– A North Elm Street woman reported at 4:12 p.m. Thursday there were cars running in a garage at a neighboring home but she could not see anyone around and was concerned. Police went to the home and found there were no problems.

– Police warned Vance Rouse Jr. of Cleveland for selling meat out of his pickup truck in the front of Sparkle Market at 4:47 p.m. Thursday. He was also warned for soliciting without a permit.

– David Holloway of Leetonia was westbound on East Park Avenue at 4:52 p.m. Thursday and entering the Elm Street intersection and was struck by Deandra Henry of Youngstown, who was southbound on North Elm Street and failed to stop at a stop sign. Henry was cited for stop sign.

LISBON

– Casey Reynolds, West Lincoln Way, called for police at 3:28 p.m. Thursday because she wanted a man removed from her home and there was an arrest warrant for the man out of East Liverpool. The man, who was not identified, was taken to the county jail.

– Police received numerous calls about a homeless man at the Elkton Auto Corral II at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The man was grateful police were trying to help him, and the minister at the Lisbon Presbyterian Church called later to say they were able to get him a room at the Frola Hotel. Several residents has also given the man food and money. The officer then transported the man to the hotel.

POLICE REPORTS

COLUMBIANA

– Poland Township police reported at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday city police should be on the lookout for an elderly man and a vehicle that were reported missing in their township. Columbiana police checked the area but did not find the man. He was later found in another jurisdiction.

– Police accompanied a highway patrol trooper to 324 N. Bayshore Drive at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday so the trooper could issue a citation to the resident.

LISBON

– Police were called to 420-1/2 N. Jefferson St. in regard to a dog complaint at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday. Police told the pet owner to clean up after his dog when it poops in someone else’s yard.

– Larry L. Callis, West Washington Street, reported Tuesday being ripped off by a 29-year-old woman he let move into his house several months ago upon her release from jail because she had nowhere else to go. The woman was last seen on Sunday, and Callis has since learned she used his bank card to withdraw money from his account. He said the bank officials confirmed the person in the security video was the woman but they could only provide a copy to police. The woman also reportedly stole money and items from the home.

– Brimfield police asked Lisbon police to pick up Stephanie Eichler, who was wanted in that community on an arrest warrant. Eichler was known to drop off and pick up her children at McKinley Elementary, and police took her into custody there without incident at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday.

SALEM

– Police responded to the laundromat at 950 W. State St. for a report of a suspicious person at 8:46 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke to a male who was just waiting for a ride back to Lisbon. Nothing else appeared out of the ordinary.

– Kayla Tomidajewicz, 26, was cited for hit/skip/leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident on private property after police were called at 6:25 a.m. Thursday for a vehicle struck in the Church Budget parking lot on South Ellsworth Avenue. Jennifer Runzo, who works at Church Budget, said a co-worker saw a blue Chevy 1500 truck pull into the parking lot behind her black Jeep Liberty, slide on the snow and strike the back of her Jeep, cracking the bumper in two different places. The name of the suspect, who also worked at Church Budget, was provided to police and they made contact with her. She admitted sliding on snow in the parking lot.

– A suspicious male wearing black jeans and a black hoodie was reported at 2:25 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue. The caller said he wasn’t doing anything other than walking, but she was concerned because he was wearing dark clothing. Officers checked and saw nobody walking.

– An officer at 2:21 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Franklin Street saw a red truck parked in a business parking lot with two people inside. The officer made contact with the male and female who said they were just talking. He found no problems with either of them and sent them on their way.

– A domestic was reported at 1:59 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Arch Street. An anonymous caller said yelling could be heard outside the residence. Officers made contact with a male and female who appeared to have been sleeping. Both said there was no disturbance and officers found no problems.

– Police responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a female attempting to solicit money from customers at a business. The alleged suspects left in a vehicle and were stopped in the parking lot of a business in the 2800 block. The occupants denied being involved and said another female approached them asking for gas money then left in a blue truck.

-Juveniles were reported in the roadway at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of North Lincoln Avenue, but were not found.

– Jerry P. Jackson, 32, of 579 1/2 E. Fifth St., was charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to a domestic at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday on East Third Street. A woman reported he struck her in the temple.

– An anonymous caller at 5:34 p.m. Wednesday reported a parking problem in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge. A vehicle was parked in the driveway access of several apartments, blocking tenants’ access. The owner moved the vehicle.

– Brian Hands, 31, of West Fifth Street, was cited for a right of way violation and failure to reinstate after police were called to a two-vehicle accident at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday at South Madison Avenue and East Pershing Street. The report said Hands was driving a vehicle stopped facing north on South Madison and did not see the westbound vehicle driven by Brittany Kindle, 21, of Prospect Street, on East Pershing Street. He pulled out onto Pershing in front of Kindle, who did not have a stop sign and struck Hands’ vehicle. No injuries were reported.

– Desiree Ingledue, 20, of 928 Liberty St., was charged with theft while Malina Naylor, 19, of the same address, was charged with complicity to commit theft after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday for a theft incident. Asset protection employees said two females attempted to steal $44.17 worth of merchandise.

– A caller at 4 p.m. Wednesday reported a vehicle passed a school bus unloading a student in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue. The woman said she saw the vehicle pass the bus and pull into a private drive nearby. The bus driver was no longer there. An officer spoke with the vehicle driver nearby who said she did not see the lights of the bus activated. She was advised of the penalties for passing a bus unloading students.

– A man in the 800 block of East Sixth Street reported at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday that he had not been receiving his mail and was recently having problems with his roommates, who tried changing the locks on him. He showed the officer a piece of mail with handwriting on the outside of the envelope that said to return it due to no receptacle. He believed his roommates may be responsible and said he had not received his tax forms yet to complete his taxes. He already notified the post office.

– A man on South Union Avenue reported at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday that his juvenile daughter was receiving threats from another girl for the past few months via Facebook and in the hallways at the high school. The case is under investigation.

– A woman who owns a business in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue met with police at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday regarding the theft of checks from her business. The checks were cashed at a bank and no one had permission to use the checks or have them. It appeared forced entry was used to gain entry into the building. The theft is under investigation.

– A man was reported loitering in front of Circle K West, 780 W. State St., at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday. Contact was made with the person who had several personal items with him and appeared as if he was homeless. He was offered assistance but declined and said he was just passing through town. He left on foot and said he was headed for the Akron/Canton area.

– A bicycle found in a front yard in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street was turned over to police at 10:53 a.m. Wednesday.

– A water leak was reported in the 900 block of Summit Street at 10:26 a.m. Wednesday. The water department was notified after police saw the water coming from the ground at the curb.

– A suspicious red car with three males inside was reported at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday on Pearce Circle, but was not found.

PERRY TWP.

– John Soltysiak, 53, of Salem, was cited for fictitious registration after a traffic stop at 12:49 a.m. Thursday on state Route 45 near Depot Road.

– An abandoned vehicle partially blocking the road was reported at 11:54 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of state Route 9. Police attempted to obtain a phone number for the registered owner but were unable to make contact. The vehicle was towed as a road hazard.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– An anonymous caller at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday reported a possible intoxicated driver in a silver Kia in the parking lot of Circle K East in the 1100 block of East State Street. Officers made contact with the driver, who was not intoxicated or consuming alcohol. The driver and passenger were identified and sent on their way.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:08 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard, but was not found.

– Police responded at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a report of people walking in the road wearing dark clothing. The people were not found.

– Police were called at 8:53 p.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of West State Street for a possible theft report. Officers spoke with a Lisbon man and a female and determined the incident was civil in nature. He was told his options.

– A domestic was reported in the 800 block of Morris Avenue at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday. A woman involved said it was a verbal argument. The other party spoke with police and he said they had an argument over the phone and when she came home she wanted to leave. She and the children were going to stay with a relative.

– A bank card was found in a parking lot in the 900 block of East State Street and turned over to police at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday. The owner was contacted and said they already got a new card. The old one was destroyed by police at the owner’s request.

– An officer on patrol saw a vehicle at a closed business in the 300 block of Benton Road at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday and made contact with the person and identified him. He said he was an employee and was allowed at the business after hours.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at a residence in the 1000 block of East Third Street at 6:04 p.m. Tuesday. An officer checked the residence and made contact with a man who was a relative of the owner. Nothing suspicious was observed.

– A case of alleged fraud was reported at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday by a man in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue who had unauthorized charges on his account.

LISBON

– Christina M. Garver, 40, West Lincoln Way, was arrested for domestic violence at her home at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday. She reportedly threatened to stab her 15-year-old daughter in the heart. Garver was armed with a 9-1/2 inch knife when police arrived, and the daughter had a mark on her neck.

COLUMBIANA

– Teresa Czarnecki, Spinnaker Drive, reported at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday there were people at her home that she did not want to be there. Police went to the home and found there were no problems.

– A man requested at 6 p.m. Tuesday police escort him to a North Haven home so he could serve papers. Police took him to the residence and there were no problems.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– A spokesman for a car rental business in the 900 block of West State Street reported at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday that a man rented a 2013 Chrysler 200 on Feb. 11 and was to return the car on Feb. 18. The vehicle has not been returned and when the owner contacted the man by phone and requested its return, the man said he gave the car to another male to return and he does not know where it is. The car was entered in the law enforcement data base as stolen.

– Corey Cathnia, of the 1300 block of East State Street, reported at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday that someone entered his apartment overnight and removed some items, including a video game system, three games and a laptop computer.

– A barking dog was reported on West School Street at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday. The owner was given a warning and told to take her dogs inside.

– A dog was reported at large in the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 12:33 p.m. Tuesday, but was not found.

– A man in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street called at 12:09 p.m. Tuesday for a menacing complaint, reporting a person known to him came to his back door and made threats to him over money the person says he owes him. Police were unable to find the person.

– Police responded at 11:58 a.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of West State Street at the request of the fire department first responders for traffic control at the site where an ambulance was needed. EMT Ambulance also responded.

– A juvenile was cited for driving without a license after a traffic stop at 10:27 a.m. Tuesday on North Broadway Avenue and Second Street. The license plate of the vehicle came back to a suspended owner. The driver, who was a juvenile, was not the registered owner, but did not have a valid license.

– A man was asked at 8:59 a.m. Tuesday to move his vehicle to a regular parking spot at Sparkle Market on Lundy Avenue after it was discovered he was parked in the flow of traffic. The report said there was no problem with him parking in the lot, they just wanted him in a regular spot.

– Police were called at 5:47 a.m. Tuesday to Salem Regional Medical Center for an alleged assault, but learned the incident occurred in another jurisdiction. The people were told to contact that agency to file a report.

– A woman in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported at 2:54 a.m. Tuesday that she thought she heard a person walking and talking outside her residence. Officers located people out with a disabled vehicle near her residence, noting that may have been the source of the noise. An officer checked the exterior of the residence and everything appeared okay.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 1:56 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of West State Street. An officer located a towing company retrieving vehicles. There was nothing suspicious.

– An intoxicated person was reported at 12:17 a.m. Tuesday on North Lincoln Avenue and F.E. Cope Drive. The person was located by police walking on the sidewalk on F.E. Cope Drive. Due to a language barrier, officers were unable to gather any pertinent information. The person was taken to the police station where officers made contact with a translator who was able to determine he lived on Woodland Avenue. He was then given a ride home.

– A suspicious person was reported knocking on a woman’s door at 11:40 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of East Sixth Street. Police were unable to locate anyone.

– A noise complaint was reported at 10:34 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue. Police checked the exterior of the residence and heard no noise in the area. The caller did not answer her door.

– A customer at Shears’ laundromat, 950 W. State St., reported at 9:37 p.m. Monday that it appeared someone tampered with several dispensing machines. Officers arrived and saw the front of several machines were open and the security bars were leaning against a wall. The machines had some signs of possible forced entry, but officers weren’t sure if it was old damage or possibly an employee had forgotten to secure them after emptying them. A keyholder arrived and affirmed the security bars were removed by force to allow the front of the machines to be pried open. Someone stole all the coins from two of the dispensers and most of the coins from a third dispenser.

– Several gas cans were found along the street in the area of Maple Avenue near South Madison Avenue at 9:16 p.m. Monday. They were taken to the police station for safekeeping.

– Police responded at 8:55 p.m. Monday to the 600 block of South Union Avenue where a woman reported she asked a male to leave but he refused. The male said he was there to visit his children. He agreed to leave and both were told to work out a visitation arrangement.

– A resident in the 900 block of South Union Avenue reported a case of identity theft at 7:46 p.m. Monday. The case will be forwarded to a detective.

– William Styen, 53, of Cherry Valley Drive, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield after a two-vehicle accident on East State Street in front of the drive for Marc’s at 7:14 p.m. Monday. Styen’s westbound vehicle was in the turning lane on East State Street when he said an eastbound vehicle was also in the turning lane. He thought the vehicle was going to hit him and he attempted to turn into the Marc’s drive, being struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Laura Kosiorek, 24, of Erie, Pa, who was traveling in the straight lane. Kisiorek refused treatment at the scene after being checked by KLG. The Salem Fire Department also responded to the scene.

– Christy Keglor, 40, of 812 Barclay Ave., was charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, after officers on patrol were called to check on a person involved in a possible theft in the 800 block of Barclay Avenue at 5:26 p.m. Monday. The victim, who also lives on Barclay Avenue, discovered the person entered her residence and took some items. The suspect, Keglor, was located and turned over the items she took. She was released on a recognizance bond.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 4:32 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Second Street. Upon investigation, it was determined the man worked for a company doing business in the area. There was nothing suspicious.

– Police stood by for Perry Township officers on a domestic dispute in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:18 p.m. Monday.

LISBON

– Amy M. Trombetta, 40, East Lincoln Way, was cited for running the flashing red light at the intersection of North Market and North Park at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday.

– Police were called to a home on North Vine at 3:26 p.m. Monday in regard to a 9-year-old who was out of control and threatening to harm herself. The girl bit her mother on the arm, kicked her in the leg and struck her in the face, giving her a bloody nose. The girl was transported to a local hospital and told if she was older she would be taken to the county juvenile detention facility instead.

– While at the high school on Monday, a boy reported that over the weekend his father pushed him against the wall, ripped his coat and choked him. The matter is being investigated and a copy of the report sent to Children Services.

– Marissa Wiley, West High Street, reported Monday she keeps getting wrong-number calls for people who do not live there. This time the person became vulgar and threatened to come to Lisbon to find the people who do not live there because they owe him $300. Police said they would call the other persons to instruct them to leave Wiley alone.

COLUMBIANA

– A Quincy Avenue woman reported at 2:40 a.m. Monday she thought someone was in her house and could see shadows underneath her door of someone walking around.

– Cornerstone Motors reported at 11 a.m. Monday someone stole a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500.

– A man reported at 10 p.m. Monday there was smoke coming from the area of M&E Supply. Police checked and found it was steam and not smoke.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– Police were called for a welfare check at 1:25 p.m. Monday and asked to deliver a message to a resident in the 600 block of Continental Drive. The female was told to contact the person who called.

– Jeanine M. Shivers, 50, of East 15th Street, was cited for a red light violation and hit/skip after a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of East State Street and North Union Avenue left the driver of the other vehicle injured Monday morning. Police were called at 8:59 a.m. to respond. According to the report, Shivers was driving south on North Union Avenue when she allegedly failed to stop for the red light at East State Street and entered the intersection, with her vehicle struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Reana Johnston, 49, of Old Coach Lane, who had the green light as confirmed by an independent witness. The report said Shivers left the scene but later came to the police station and turned herself in. Police and other agencies had checked the area for the vehicle that had been at fault. Johnston suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT Ambulance.

– An officer on patrol came across a suspicious vehicle in Waterworth Memorial Park at 1:12 a.m. Monday off of Sunset Boulevard. Both occupants said they stopped to talk. They were told the park hours and advised to leave.

– Loud music was reported at 11:44 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue, but police were unable to hear any.

– A domestic was reported at 10:15 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Woodland Avenue where a man said his ex-girlfriend initiated a physical altercation with him and the female accompanying him. The ex-girlfriend left in a vehicle, but was stopped by another officer. Nobody wanted to pursue charges. She was told to have no more contact with the man.

– A resident in the 300 block of East Seventh Street reported a hit/skip accident at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, saying a neighbor backed into their vehicle and pushed it backwards. There was no visible damage to the vehicle.

– A dispute in progress was reported at 9:34 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. A juvenile threatened to harm themselves and suffered injury from punching a wall. Fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance responded and the juvenile was transported to a hospital. No violence was reported between family members.

– A wristwatch was recovered by an officer at 8:25 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and Aetna Street. The watch was broken but secured at the police station in the lost and found.

– Police responded to the 100 block of West Fourth Street at 6:55 p.m. Sunday to assist Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputies on a warrant check. Deputies took James E. Burkholder, 51, of East State Street, into custody for the active warrant.

– Officers on patrol at 4:55 p.m. Sunday saw two illegally parked vehicles in the 1000 block of East Pershing Street. The owners were contacted and moved them.

– Police were called to Giant Eagle, 2401 E. State St., for a shoplifting report at 4:19 p.m. Sunday. The person left, but officers knew who they were with and the vehicle plate and description. The business declined to pursue charges and only wanted the person to never return. The person was located and advised of this and told they would face arrest if they returned.

– Officers responded with Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputies at 12:06 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of East Seventh Street to check for a male with an active arrest warrant. The person, Roy Colbert, 49, of 487 1/2 Seventh St., was placed in custody by a deputy and taken to the county jail.

– A wallet left in a cab by a fare was dropped off at the police station at 11:24 a.m. Sunday and placed in lost and found.

PERRY TWP.

– Police were called at 1:09 p.m. Sunday for a light flickering in a vacant residence on Countryside Drive while the homeowner was away. Officers found all the windows and doors secure.

– Police investigating a vehicle crashed and abandoned in the 300 block of Georgetown Road at 12:16 a.m. Sunday later discovered Michael T. Joy, 26, of Salem, was driving. He was notified that he would be receiving a citation for reasonable control. The vehicle had been towed from the scene, but police said it could be released to him.

– Police at 5:01 p.m. Saturday located a vehicle stuck in a snow bank along the road on state Route 45 between state Route 9 and Georgetown Road. The driver was checked and advised a tow truck had been summoned. The vehicle was then removed and driven from the scene.

– A caller at 1:15 a.m. Saturday reported shots being fired behind a residence on Lake Avenue. Officers checked the area and Salem Police checked the industrial buildings off of Mullins Street. Nothing was found.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Daniel Melvin Yarian, 45, 13471 W. South Range Road, Salem, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated and cited for traffic control device and headlights required violations following a traffic stop on state Route 165 at state Route 534 at 9:45 p.m. Friday.

LISBON

– Police checked a home on Morton Street for abandoned animals at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, but the officers found people still living at the residence.

– Police came across a semi-trailer unable to turn at the intersection of West Chestnut and North Market at 2 p.m. Friday, and the driver said he was looking for the Morning Journal, which is in the opposite direction. The officer helped the driver back up to get turned around.

– Police were called to the BP station at 4 p.m. Sunday in regard to two females giving the cashier a hard time. Police stopped a vehicle matching the description leaving the parking lot, and the girls said the cashier was new and confused but everything was fine now. The cashier confirmed she was new and confused but she said the girls were rude to her.

– Police were called to an apartment on North Market at 6:24 p.m. Sunday in regard to a man who was contemplating harming himself. Police stood by while the man was transported to a local hospital to be examined.

-Rusty Hoffman, East Lincoln Way, reported at 11:31 a.m. Sunday his pickup truck had been struck and the taillight broken while parked in the shared driveway.

– Police were asked by Center Township police to help arrest a female at the township police department at 11:25 a.m. Saturday.

COLUMBIANA

– Travis Swinehart, 21, Columbiana, was southwestbound on Lisbon Street at 8:22 a.m. Sunday and went left of center at the Union Street intersection, striking a vehicle driven by George Summers, 48, Lisbon, who was northeastbound. Swinehart was arrested for suspicion of OVI and cited for left of center, open container and possession of marijuana. Further charges are pending the results of a blood test.

– A woman reported at 12:13 p.m. Sunday there was a van blocking an alley from being plowed on North Main. Police asked the driver, Sarah Soos, to move the vehicle.

– Tachieka Williams, 23, Poland, parked at the Presbyterian Church at 1:56 p.m. Sunday, opened her door and it was hit by a vehicle driven by April Chestnut, 43, Columbiana, who had pulled in next to her. No citations were issued due to being on private property.

– Christopher Gray, South West Street, reported at 5:32 p.m. Sunday he was receiving harassing calls from someone he knows. Police told the person to stop all contact with Gray.

POLICE REPORTS

Salem reports

– At 7:27 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 600 block of E. Euclid Street and were flagged down by a resident concerned about her neighbor whom she hadn’t seen in about one week. Police checked and there was no answer at the door.

– At 1:49 a.m. Sunday, police in the S. Lundy Avenue and Bank Street area observed woman walking northbound on S. Lundy Avenue who appeared to be intoxicated. She advised she was going to Taco Bell. Police advised her to obtain a ride or return to her residence on S. Lundy Avenue

– Police responded to the 800 block of W. Pershing Street at 12:12 a.m. Sunday for a well-being check on a juvenile and made contact with the mother and they appeared to be fine.

– Police responded to the 800 block of E. 3rd Street at 12:51 a.m. for a report of a loud person and located an intoxicated man on the front porch who stated his girlfriend locked him out and he was kicking the door. She arrived while police were there and let him in.

– At 3:12 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 100 block of Railroad Street for an intoxicated woman who wouldn’t leave. She was highly intoxicated and wouldn’t respond. First responders arrived and an ambulance took her to the hospital.

– At 11:44 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 300 block of W. State Street where two men appeared to be holding up a woman. They were assisting her after she drank too much and another person arrived an provided them all with a ride home.

– Police responded to the 800 block of Jennings Avenue at 11:03 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised a man was at the door wanting $20 to shovel her driveway. He said if she couldn’t pay him tonight he would come back in the morning and do the job. The complainant said no and he left the area and police advised her to call them if he returned.

– While on patrol in the 500 block of S. Ellsworth Avenue at 4:37 p.m. Saturday an officer observed the sprinkle system operating in a close business. The fire department responded and checked the system and they were able to contact a business employee.

– At 8:14 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 400 block of S. Lincoln Avenue for a person to be removed. The complainant advised there was a vehicle in her driveway when she arrived at the residence in the morning to pick her son up. She found the woman and her ex-boyfriend and that upset her and she left the residence. There were no signs of physical violence.

– At 11:40 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the S. Broadway Avenue and E. Pershing Street area where a man was in the alley by Consumers Bank and was reportedly yelling at passing vehicles. He denied it and was advised to go home, which he did.

Columbiana REPORTS

– A crash was reported just south of Leetonia at 2:04 a.m. Saturday. Police attempted to contact the Columbiana woman, Shannon Chamberlain, whose license plate was given. The actual crash happened in Leetonia’s jurisdiction.

– Monica Macklin, Brenda Lane, Columbiana, at 2:17 a.m. Saturday reported the theft of 15 percocet pills.

– Keys were found in the door of Columbiana Tire at 3:28 a.m. Saturday. Police secured the building and a vehicle in the parking lot. The keys were left at the police station for the owner to pick up.

– Police checked on a car in the ditch on Heck Road at 8:04 a.m. Saturday, just outside of Columbiana. There was no damage and help was on the way.

– New Waterford police alerted Columbiana police at 5:47 p.m. Saturday of a black Hummer northbound on state Route 46 with a driver who had a suspended license. No other information was given.

– At 5:39 p.m. Saturday a woman reported she received a scam call from someone claiming to be her granddaughter and needing money. She did not give out any information to the caller and verified it was not her granddaughter.

Center Township REPORTS

– On Jan. 31, police stopped a vehicle on Saltwell Road for traveling 44 mph in a 25 mph zone. Police subsequently cited David Hause, 328 Maple St. Lisbon, with OVI, speed, seat belt and possession of drug paraphernalia.

– While on patrol on Feb. 12, police saw an old chair in the yard of 38233 Sue Drive, where police had seen it sitting for several months. The owner was contacted and asked to remove it, which they agreed to do.

– Donald J. Williams, 7821 Shady Lane, Lisbon, was charged with OVI, driving under suspension, fictitious plates, possession of marijuana and open container after a traffic stop on Shady Lane on Friday.

– At 10:42 a.m. Saturday, police and sheriff’s deputies responded to 39050 Grant St. During an argument, a daughter had struck her mother in the arm and threw a picture frame at her. Sara J. Eason 22, was charged with domestic violence and taken to jail.

Salem reports

– Police responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 4:59 a.m. Saturday where the complainant advised that while traveling westbound on Liberty Street something hit her boyfriend’s vehicle breaking the windshield. It was thrown from a porch area where several people had been standing. She was advised to have her boyfriend respond to the police station for a statement if charges are pursued. Police responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street but no contact was made and an investigation is pending.

– At 1:50 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street for a report of loud music and could hear it coming from a residence. The resident was advised of the complaint and the music was turned off.

– Police responded to the 200 block of Mullins Street at 1:28 a.m. for possible shots fired but no shots were fired.

– At 2:13 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of N. Lincoln Avenue in reference to a missing person and while on the scene the complainant received a call that the female in question was located.

– Police received a call from a resident in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 4:56 p.m. Friday advising of a situation at her bank and she was advised to speak with the bank.

– At 5:01 p.m. Friday, police received a report of a water line break in the 300 block of W. 5th Street and the water department was advised.

– Police responded to the 400 block of S. Broadway Avenue at 7:29 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised a garbage truck backed into her property. Photos were taken.

– At 7:43 p.m. Friday, police received a complaint from the 500 block of Walnut Street where an unknown man was sleeping in an upstairs hallway. He was awakened and was intoxicated and became belligerent while speaking with police. He was warned several times to cease and calm down but refused. David Gasior, 157 W. 5th Street, Salem, was charged with disorderly conduct and became combative in the back of the police car and officers had to hobble him for transport to the county jail.

– At 3:47 p.m. Friday, a drivers license that was found in the parking lot of Adele’s Restaurant was placed in the police department lost and found.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– Jeffrey A. Schmied, 49, Carey Road, Salem, was westbound on state Route 14 and entering the intersection with state Route 164 at 4:05 p.m. Thursday. Veronica Wood, 68, North Elm Street, Columbiana, was northbound on state Route 164 and entering the intersection with state Route 14 when she struck Schmied’s vehicle. Both drivers claimed to have had the green light. No injuries were reported.

– A power line was reported down and sparking at 4:34 a.m. Friday on Camelot Drive. The location was found to be outside of the city limits.

– A vehicle roll over accident was reported on state Route 7 north of Firestone at 7:34 a.m. Friday.

– A woman reported she ran out of gas nearly in the middle of the intersection of state Routes 7 and 14 at 10:24 a.m. Friday. Police waited at the vehicle until the driver could get gas.

– Police checked on a disabled vehicle at 12:49 p.m. Friday in the area of South Pearl Street and Lisbon Street. The vehicle was not a hazard to passing traffic and a tow truck was on the way.

– A beagle, Flash, was reported running loose in the area of East Woodland Avenue at 2:59 p.m. Friday. The dog was returned to Tracy Swinehart at 5:30 p.m.

– A burgundy pickup was reported on South Bayshore Drive at 3:58 p.m. Friday and it was believed the occupants were striking a mailbox. Police found a large box containing eight individual boxes there, but were unable to find a vehicle matching the description given.

– A traffic crash without injuries was reported at 4:27 p.m. Friday on North Main Street at the Lantern Square Apartments.

– Police found a dog running loose in the are of West Park Avenue at 7:24 p.m. Friday. Police located the owner and returned the dog.

– Virginia M. Neff, Rose Drive, Lisbon, was backing out of a West Chestnut Street driveway at 2:57 p.m. Thursday and struck a vehicle operated by Kathy J. McNutt, West State Street, Newcomerstown, who was stopped at the West Chestnut Street stop sign. No citations were issued.

– Joshua J. Knight, 25, North Beaver Street, was arrested on a domestic violence charge at 3:30 p.m. Thursday after police went to 717 N. Beaver St., for a report of a domestic disturbance involving a knife. He was taken to the Columbiana County Jail.

– Police went to an East Lincoln Way home at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man possibly overdosing. It was discovered that the resident was taking two handfuls of his blood sugar medicine. He was urged to go to the hospital to be checked, which he did.

– Police accompanied Mike Malone to his North Jefferson Street home at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday so he could retrieve some belongings. Malone did tell police his chest was broken into.

– A South Beaver Street woman reported at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday a boy was refusing to go to school. Police transported him to the alternative school.

SALEM

– A man on Pembrooke Drive reported at 12:03 p.m. Friday that he was in the ATM lane at Chase Bank on North Broadway Avenue on Jan. 31 when the vehicle in front of him suddenly backed up and struck the front of his vehicle. He exchanged information on insurance companies with the other driver, but now the other driver won’t return phone calls to him or her insurance agency.

– An anonymous caller at 10:48 a.m. Friday reported a dog tied up outside in the 600 block of Ohio Avenue in the minus 5-degree weather. An officer spoke to the owner who said the dog house is insulated, but she would bring him inside.

– An officer on patrol on Pennsylvania Avenue at 10:36 a.m. Friday saw a tractor trailer partially blocking the road coming from a driveway at Ventra. He needed help guiding the tractor back to the trailer after the fifth wheel disengaged and the trailer came off. The officer assisted the driver, who was able to get the trailer back in place and moved to allow traffic through.

– Police were called at 10:08 a.m. Friday to Firestone Auto Care, 462 E. Pershing St. for a person who came into the business and caused a disturbance in front of other customers. When officers arrived, the person was asked to leave and did so without incident.

– A cable line was found down on Ohio Avenue at 9:52 a.m. Friday. An officer tied it up high enough for vehicles to get under and told dispatch to contact Time Warner.

– An officer was flagged down by a newspaper carrier at 6:56 a.m. Friday in the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue regarding a red Chevy Venture van with the driver side rear sliding door hanging wide open with nobody around. An officer contacted the owner and advised of the open door. The owner said he would secure the door and notify police if anything’s missing.

– An officer at 6:53 a.m. Friday came across an unoccupied disabled vehicle partially in a driveway in the 1400 block of East Third Street and partially blocking the street. The resident did not know who owned the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from blocking the roadway.

– Police were called at 10:02 p.m. Thursday for an illegally parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge. The owner was contacted and was moving it.

– A medical emergency was reported at 9:57 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Prospect Street. Police stood by until the person was transported.

– A dog was reported at large in the 600 block of Park Avenue at 9:49 p.m. Thursday. No dog was found. An officer checked the residence where the dog belonged and the dog was already back inside.

– A property dispute was reported at 7:04 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue. Police explained to the persons involved that it was a civil issue and told them their options.

– A domestic was reported at 5:22 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West Wilson Street. It was determined to be a verbal dispute between family members. One of the persons involved was taken to the emergency room by ambulance for evaluation.

– A woman in the 900 block of South Union Avenue reported at 4 p.m. Thursday that a man claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House was trying to scam her. Officers collected information and told her to call police if he calls again.

– A woman in the 900 block of Highland Avenue reported a case of identity theft at 3:54 p.m. Thursday, noting several changes made to her cell phone contract without her permission. She was told her options.

– A driver was given a warning for a traffic offense at 2:40 p.m. Thursday after a traffic stop in the 1500 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The driver gave the officer consent to search the vehicle, but nothing illegal was found.

-A door to a residence on North Union Avenue appeared to have blown open at 1:59 p.m. Thursday. The door was secured. No footprints were found in the snow around the front or back doors.

– An anonymous caller at 1:26 p.m. Thursday reported a small dog tied outside barking on Sharp Avenue. Police checked the area several times, but did not locate the dog.

– Police were called for an alarm at a business in the 400 block of East State Street at 11:26 a.m. Thursday which is in the process of moving from another location. The alarm company was being contacted by the business.

– Officers at 10:12 a.m. Thursday checked for a male allegedly threatening others near the post office on Penn Avenue. He was found and denied making any threats. He appeared okay at that time. Officers were attempting to gather statements for possible charges of menacing or disorderly conduct.

– A domestic was reported at 9:16 a.m. Thursday in the 1700 block of East State Street where it was determined there was a verbal dispute. A male resident was upset when he was awoken by other residents. There were no signs of violence.

– A South Main Street resident reported at 10:27 a.m. Wednesday a suspicious man in a white car was going around telling residents he had to check gas meters inside their homes and was contracted by the city to do so. Police located the man on Court Street and found he worked for Bermex and is contracted by Columbia Gas to do so.

– A Fairfield School Road woman reported at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday her credit card had possibly been stolen.

– Tracy Bowser, East Friend Street, reported at 12:23 p.m. she and her live-in boyfriend were in an argument. The man decided to leave and neither wished to press charges.

– A Union Street woman reported at 12:18 p.m. Wednesday there was a domestic going on in the upstairs apartment. Police went to the apartment and Jaime Cadle said she was in an argument with her boyfriend Shanee Barnes Jr., who had already left.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Nicholas Aaron Colapietro, 23, Youngstown, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 11:59 p.m. Monday in which he was northbound on Green Beaver Road just north of state Route 165 when the vehicle crossed over the southbound lane, spinning 180 degrees and coming to rest against a tree. No injuries were reported.

LISBON

– Police were asked by county employee Ben Black to check for possible water leaks at the Municipal Court building at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday. No leaks were found, but a cleaning crew and assistant prosecutor were found to be working in the building.

– Brock Huston, Summit Street, reported Tuesday a neighbor is pushing snow into his driveway while plowing, leaving gravel behind in his yard. Police spoke with the neighbor, who said he does not own a plow.

– Tracey Wonner reported Tuesday afternoon someone in a Ford SUV just drove over the curb by the prison alternative facility for women and over the hill into the village hall parking lot before exiting onto North Market Street. The driver could not be located.

– Brian Brown reported at 3:19 p.m. Feb. 10 someone in a gold/brown car backed into his truck in the McKinley Elementary parking lot, and the driver said he would return with his information but he never did. Using the license plate number, police determined the car owner was Norman Fitch of East Liverpool. Police called and someone who identified himself as Fitch’s brother provided a cell number for Norman Fitch. On Wednesday, police located Fitch at an address on North Beaver Street and saw the vehicle that matched the description and also had red paint on the rear bumper. Fitch admitted he was responsible. He said he pulled out into the street to talk with Brown following the accident but he never showed up.

– A Blair Construction work van was struck by another vehicle while parked Tuesday on North Beaver Street.

– Danielle Willard, Grandview Avenue, reported Saturday her son’s video game system was missing, and this occurred after he had a friend over the day before.

– Police were called to outside the Barborak Law Offices at 9:39 a.m. Tuesday, where Marcus Bowersock and Sierra Clarkson were arguing. Bowersock said he accidentally ran into Clarkson, with whom he has a child, and they began arguing. Both parties have protection orders against each other, and Bowersock was told he needed to go inside the law office for his appointment and that Clarkson needed to leave while he was there.

SALEM

– Betty Serich, 60, of New Middletown, was cited for assured clear distance after her southbound vehicle on North Lincoln Avenue struck the rear of another southbound vehicle driven by Brandie Weikart, 39, of Jennings Avenue at 10:14 a.m. Thursday. Weikart was stopped at the intersection waiting to turn onto East Sixth Street. No injuries were reported.

– A resident in the 2000 block of Merle Road reported a loose dog at 7:28 a.m. Thursday. An officer responded and saw a brown medium-sized dog laying on a piece of patio furniture. The city humane officer was contacted and responded to obtain the dog.

– An alarm was reported at 3:12 a.m. Thursday on Elm Avenue. Officers checked both the exterior and interior of the business, finding everything secure.

– Police responded to South Lincoln Avenue near Aetna Street for a hit/skip after a woman reported at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday that she saw a reckless vehicle lose control and strike a road sign. Officers located the broken sign in the street and notified the street department after removing the sign. The vehicle was not located.

– An identification card found in the area of Waterworth Memorial Park was turned over to police at 10:21 p.m. Wednesday.

– Police were called at 9:16 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street for a suspicious odor and report of possible narcotics. A caller reported a scent of narcotics at a residence. Officers made contact with a resident at the home in question who denied having any narcotics and allowed officers to check the interior of the home. No narcotics were smelled or observed.

– Maxine Ezell, 20, of 274 W. Wilson St., was taken into custody on an active warrant for failure to appear after police responded to the residence to investigate a dispute at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday. While identifying people in the residence, the warrant for Ezell was discovered. The domestic involved two males. One juvenile said he struck his friend and the friend did not want to pursue it. Both said there would be no more problems.

– A resident in the 400 block of West Fifth Street reported telecommunications harassment at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, saying he received several calls from a male who appeared to be trying to scam him. He was told his options.

– A man from the 1500 block of Quaker Lane reported at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday that he sold a dirt bike to a person who wrote him a check. When he attempted to cash the check, the bank said the person no longer had an account with the bank. The incident is under investigation.

– Police investigated a residential alarm in the 1000 block of East Pershing Street at 5:56 p.m. Wednesday. The exterior was found secure, with no footprints in the snow.

– Zachary Penick, 21, of East Fifth Street, was cited for failure to yield after exiting a business from Sugartree Alley onto South Howard Street and getting struck by a southbound vehicle on Howard driven by Kevin Geiger, 61, of North Lawrence, at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

– Tamara Clemens, 28, of 226 E. Michigan Ave., Sebring, was charged with theft and criminal trespass after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday for a shoplifter. A loss prevention officer reported a suspect concealed several items in her purse and attempted to leave without paying. She also had been ordered to stay out of the store last May.

– Streets supervisor Jim Phillis called police at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of Fair Avenue for a parking complaint. The street department was trying to plow the street but couldn’t due to placement of a vehicle. The driver willingly moved the vehicle so the street could be plowed.

– A domestic was reported at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of North Howard Avenue. The male half was already gone. The female said she got into an argument with her boyfriend over their son. She was going to take him with her to her doctor’s appointment and the boyfriend got mad. She said nothing physical happened. He was found walking several blocks away and also said nothing physical occurred. He was going to his mother’s home for the day.

– No injuries were reported after a northbound vehicle on South Ellsworth Avenue struck a westbound EMT Ambulance on East State Street at 8:34 a.m. Wednesday. The ambulance driven by Marc Owens, 30, of Ravenna, had its outside overhead emergency lights and sirens activated while transporting a patient and slowed before entering the intersection going against a red traffic light for east/west traffic. A vehicle driven by Darlene Jenkins, 69, of Apple Street, had the green light for north/south traffic, but failed to stop for the ambulance. Jenkins was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

– Police saw a KLG ambulance outside a residence in the 1100 block of Liberty at 12:06 a.m. Thursday and asked if they were all right. Ambulance personnel requested police assist them with loading an elderly male that had fallen. Police assisted, then cleared.

– Police spoke to a woman from Elberon Avenue at 8:09 p.m. Wednesday via telephone regarding a child custody dispute. She only wanted a report on file.

– Police responded at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 1600 block of Painter Road where a juvenile was backing a vehicle out of a private driveway and struck a United States Postal Service truck driven by Gary Fatherly, 66, of Goshen Road. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

– A wallet found near the state Route 45 interchange was turned over to police at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday. The wallet was returned to the owner.

– A vehicle driven by Trevor Speigle, 21, of Salem, sustained minor damage after striking a deer on North Lincoln Avenue near Old Farm Road at 2:49 a.m. Wednesday.

– Richard Ricketts, New Springfield, was northbound on North Main Street at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday and traveling through a green light when the vehicle in front of him came to an abrupt stop, causing him to stop and was struck from behind by Jodi Bussard, Columbiana. No citations were issued.

– A woman reported at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday a white car was parked in the Firestone Park the last two days. Police found the driver was enjoying the park and texting her grandchildren and there were no problems.

LISBON

– Police were called to a Vine Street home at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday after an ambulance had been summoned in regard to a person threatening to harm themself. Police remained until the ambulance left to transport the person to a local hospital.

– The burglar alarm went off at the post office at 11:25 a.m. Monday, but the building was found to be secure and a postal official was contacted.

– An anonymous caller at 6:06 a.m. Wednesday reported a suspicious dark-colored vehicle on Pearce Circle. Police were unable to find the vehicle.

– An alarm was reported at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday at the VFW on Arch Street. The exterior and interior were checked, with the building found secure.

– An alarm was reported at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday at a business in the 2900 block of East State Street. The exterior was found secure.

– Dogs were reported barking excessively in the 400 block of West School Street at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday. An officer parked in the area for a period of time and heard a dog bark only twice when someone walked past in crunching snow. No violation was noted.

– A woman on Continental Drive reported unauthorized use at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, saying that her ex-boyfriend had her vehicle and she wanted it back. The report said he had prior permission to have the vehicle and she had not been able to advise him she wanted the vehicle back. She was told her options.

– A ticket was issued at 7:47 p.m. Tuesday for an illegally parked vehicle in the 100 block of Railroad Street.

– An officer on patrol in the 600 block of Prospect Street at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday saw a dog in the road and several more loose in a nearby lawn. The person who had custody of the dogs was located and they were promptly secured.

– A driver was given a warning for a moving violation at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West State Street. The vehicle was checked, but no contraband was recovered.

– A resident in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street reported telecommunications harassment at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, saying a man has been contacting him by phone even after he asked him to stop. An officer spoke with the man and he advised he would stop.

– A city officer assisted Perry Township Police with a traffic stop in the 700 block of West State Street at 7:04 p.m. Tuesday.

– An officer on patrol at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday was checking a person’s driving status and found an active warrant from Columbiana County for the person. Contact was made with the person in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Nicole M. Linger, 20, of 2334 Woodsdale Road, was taken into custody on the warrant for larceny.

– Suspicious activity was reported at 6:01 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 1500 block of Merle Road. An officer arrived and saw footprints around the building, checked the area and found the residence secure.

– A juvenile with a warrant came to the police station at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday to turn himself over to police. He was turned over to a deputy with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.

– A caller at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday reported a tractor trailer struck a utility pole on the southwest corner of South Ellsworth Avenue and continued south. The vehicle was not found and the pole appeared fine.

– A 48-hour removal notice was placed on a Ford Escort parked in the 600 block of Sugartree Alley at 3:01 p.m. Tuesday. The caller said it had been there an extended time.

– A caller at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday reported a parking complaint involving a mail truck at Buckeye Avenue and West 12th Street in danger from buses turning the corner. The truck was moved while police were enroute.

– A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street called at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday to report a female driving a black Jeep Liberty left without paying for $20.09 worth of gas.

– Officers at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday accompanied Children Services workers to a residence on Lexington Avenue to execute a court order. No problems occurred.

– A woman in a Jeep failed to see a hydrant on the west side of the plaza near Sally Beauty Supply in the 2900 block of East State Street at 2:01 p.m. Tuesday. She drove over the curb and struck the hydrant with the right side of the Jeep, causing damage to the right front tire, wheel well and both right side doors. No citation was issued and there were no injuries. Nothing appeared to be leaking above the ground, but the utilities department was being contacted to check the hydrant.

– A UPS driver refused to have an ambulance called after he was reportedly struck by a vehicle while delivering a package in the 700 block of Arch Street just before noon Tuesday. Police were called to the area for a parking complaint by a resident who called police because the truck had been there so long. The truck was blocking his drive. The report said he didn’t check with the driver, who was on the phone with his supervisor when police arrived. He said a car struck him and knocked him to the ground while he was carrying a box. The car driver left, but did return while police were there. The UPS driver had looked up and down the street and down to the four-way stop before starting across the street, then heard tires crunching the snow and was hit. The vehicle struck the package on his right side and he was thrown partway up the hood and then down on his back on the road. The car driver stopped and asked if he was okay and he got up and said he was. The car driver left and he delivered the package. The car driver did not appear under the influence and was not cited.

– A Boardman man contacted police at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday regarding a family matter with his sister and elderly mother, who are now in Salem. He talked with an officer about the care of his mother and his sister’s ability to care for her. He was told to contact his other sister, who has power of attorney, and to contact the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office for advice. He did not request a welfare check.

– A man on Kennedy Drive reported a case of phone harassment at 10:19 a.m. Tuesday, saying a person keeps calling repeatedly telling him he won a contest and needs to send money to claim the prize. Officers told him it’s a scam and to not send any money. An officer spoke with the suspect and asked him to stop calling the resident, advising him of the consequences if the calling continues.

– Rueben Rockwell, 26, of Pass Lane, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance after his northbound vehicle on South Lincoln Avenue struck the rear of a northbound vehicle driven by Billie Blake, 32, of Georgetown Road, while approaching a red light at 9:07 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

– A caller at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday complained about a truck unloading vehicles at Stadium on West Second Street. The report said one lane was open and clear, allowing vehicles to pass.

COLUMBIANA

– James Cairns, North Main Street, reported at noon Monday his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Bianco of Canfield, was banging on his door and wouldn’t leave. Bianco told police Cairns had her apartment keys, which Cairns denied. Bianco said she would have her locks changed.

– A man reported at 5:56 p.m. Monday there was a suspicious red car driving up and down Quincy Avenue. Police checked but did not find the car.

– Police notified the fire department at 5:56 p.m. Monday of a live electrical wire down on state Route 164 near Sparkle.

– Police notified the fire department at 6 p.m. Monday of an electrical burning smell near NAPA Auto Parts. It was found to be a line down.

– Josh Andrews, 37, Leetonia, and Kenneth Blake, 45, Youngstown, were both charged with disorderly conduct at 8:21 p.m. Monday following a traffic crash on South Main Street. The two men were involved in the crash and began arguing at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

– Justin Ward reported at 11:28 p.m. Monday there was a reckless driver westbound on state Route 14 in a red pickup truck. Police found the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who was not impaired but was distracted.

SALEM

– James M. Raneri, 28, of Southeast Boulevard, was cited for driving under suspension after a private property accident at Briargate Apartments in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday. Raneri was pulling his vehicle out of a parking spot and didn’t see the vehicle driven by Melissa Buckius, 44, of Southeast Boulevard, striking it and causing damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. Raneri’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the front driver side. No injuries were reported.

– Police checked on a residential alarm in the 1900 block of Quaker Lane at 5:39 a.m. Tuesday, finding all doors and windows secure.

– An alarm drop was reported at 2:29 a.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Officers located an open door and checked the interior of the business, finding everything okay. The keyholder responded to reset the alarm.

– An alarm was reported at 2 a.m. Tuesday at the VFW on Arch Street. The exterior was found secure. Officers were flagged down by the keyholder a short time later and returned to the business, checking the interior.

– A parent in the 2500 block of Lexington reported at 10:51 p.m. Monday that her daughter had not returned home. She was last seen at 5 p.m. and was only supposed to be gone an hour. Officers gathered information on the juvenile and an adult male she was possibly with, checking several locations in the city, but not finding either one of them. The girl was entered into the law enforcement date base as missing.

– At 5:07 p.m. Monday, officers spoke with a juvenile and parent who said the juvenile was sexually assaulted late in the evening on Sunday or early Monday. The incident reportedly occurred at a residence in the city. Officers gathered information and told the parent to contact Akron Children’s Hospital for a checkup of the juvenile victim. The incident is under investigation.

– A 911 hangup call was reported at 3:32 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The resident said everything was fine.

– A woman in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue reported at 12:31 p.m. Monday that her son was backing out of their driveway and slid on some ice, almost hitting a red van traveling westbound on Franklin. The male in the van then followed them back to the residence where he began to punch her son’s vehicle and then left.

– Robert Koch, 40, of Alliance, was cited for failure to control after losing control of his eastbound vehicle on Pennsylvania Avenue and striking the front of a westbound vehicle driven by Stephen Barrett, 55, of West Wilson Street, at 11:57 a.m. Monday.

– A possible broken water line was reported at 10:09 a.m. Monday on Buckeye Avenue. The utilities department was contacted.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– Police responded at 7:29 a.m. Monday to the 800 block of East Third Street for a residential lockout with a child inside. Officers stood by while the fire department gained entry to the residence.

– A possible water leak was reported at 6:47 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Rose Avenue where the responding officers saw water coming from a fire hydrant on the east side of the road. The report said the fire department was notified and water department contacted.

– A suspicious vehicle running for a period of time was reported at 5:32 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Washington Avenue where it had been parked the last several days. Police determined the vehicle belonged to a local cab company and was parked in front of the driver’s residence.

– Joshua Board, 24, of South Lincoln Avenue, was cited for driving under suspension non-compliance after a traffic stop at 9:02 p.m. Sunday on East Pershing Street near South Lincoln Avenue. The license plates were confiscated for the BMV and the vehicle was towed.

– A reckless driver was reported at 7:57 p.m. Sunday on West State Street. Police located the vehicle near Ellsworth Avenue and followed it to the east end with no problems observed.

– A reckless operator was reported at 7:46 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of East State Street, but the vehicle was not found.

– An illegally parked vehicle was reported at 6:11 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Wilson Street. The owner moved the vehicle.

– A well-being check was requested at 5:18 p.m. Sunday for the 2300 block of Southeast Boulevard. Officers made contact with the resident and juvenile and both seemed fine and said they were okay.

– A dog was reported at large at 4:50 p.m. Sunday in the area of Southeast Boulevard and Ridgewood, but no dog was found.

PERRY TWP.

– Bridgette Loutzenhiser, 32, of 251 Plymouth Place, was taken into custody at 10:24 a.m. Sunday at her residence on an active warrant from Columbiana County.

– Police were called for a vehicle stuck/abandoned in a field in the area of Bricker Lane near East View at 7:49 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was inside the city limits, with Salem Police contacted.

– A caller at 2:31 a.m. Sunday reported hearing what sounded like a dog in distress in the 1700 block of Devonshire. Police sat in the area with the engine off and windows down, but only heard one dog barking and it didn’t sound like the dog was in distress.

– Police found an unoccupied vehicle in a ditch in Green Township on Egypt Road north of state Route 14 at 2:02 a.m. Sunday. Goshen Police officers were notified and police checked the area for anyone walking, but found nobody.

– A caller at 11:23 p.m. Saturday reported a fight in the parking lot of the Salem Acres apartment complex on Prospect Street between two males. Police found no fight and saw no one outside.

– An anonymous caller at 10:57 p.m. Saturday reported alleged narcotics dealing in the 1300 block of West State Street. Police saw a semi truck leaving the premises and intiated a traffic stop. Consent to search was granted and an unmarked bottle of pills was located inside the vehicle. After a brief investigation into the identity of the pills, the people were released. An investigation is pending.

– A resident of Buckeye Circle called at 2:47 p.m. Saturday to report unauthorized charges to a credit card, then found the card missing from his possession. The card was used at a local business. The incident is under investigation with charges pending.

– Police noticed multiple vehicles becoming stuck on the Cunningham Road hill and in the ditch due to the hazardous conditions at 1:33 p.m. Saturday. The township road department was able to clear the roads and vehicles were removed from the road.

-A South Lincoln Avenue resident spoke with police at 11:51 a.m. Saturday in reference to a possible scam, saying he was contacted by a person who said he had just won $2.5 million and needed $650 sent by Western Union to cover taxes. The resident did not send any money. Police contacted the number given to the resident to call when the transaction was complete and spoke with a male who quickly hung up after an officer identified himself. Police tried numerous times to reach the person at the number, leaving multiple messages to call the station.

– A woman on Elberon Avenue spoke with police at 8:43 a.m. Saturday regarding child custody, saying her ex-spouse was not following the agreement set by the court. Police contacted him and he said he had spoken to his attorney and will continue to do what the attorney advises.

– An anonymous caller at 11:37 p.m. Friday reported a vehicle engine being revved in the 2300 block of Goshen Road. Police were unable to find any vehicles running.

– A resident on North Lincoln Avenue reported wanting a person removed from his property at 10:53 p.m. Friday. The person left before police arrived.

– Jonathan Penrod, 30, of Alliance, was cited for an expired driver’s license after police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of Salem Bible Church on Cunningham Road at 7:56 p.m. Thursday. The driver said he had stopped to search for his cell phone. He and his juvenile son were taken to a public location in Salem to call for a ride. The vehicle was left parked at the church to be picked up a short time later by a friend with a valid license.

– A resident on Hampton Place reported at 5:30 p.m. Thursday that an attempt was made to remove a stereo system from a vehicle parked at a residence. The center console face place was damaged, apparently pried by a blunt object. No other items appeared to be missing.

– Patricia Schaff, 64, of Cunningham Road, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign while turning left after police were called for a two-vehicle accident at 3:20 p.m. Thursday at Depot Road and Stewart Road. Schaff attempted to pull from Stewart Road onto Depot and struck the left front fender of a vehicle driven by Violet DeLong, 75, of Stewart Road, who was southbound on Depot Road attempting to turn west onto Stewart Road.

LISBON

– Police assisted a sheriff’s deputy in responding to a domestic dispute on Grant Street at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday. The male half of the dispute left prior to their arrival.

– A resident brought his son to the police department on Wednesday because the youth does not feel safe at his mother’s home, also in Lisbon, after finding marijuana and drug paraphernalia there. The boy said the water had been off from December until this week. The father had already contacted Children Services and was told to also contact his attorney.

COLUMBIANA

– The burglar alarm went off at the Burger King restaurant at 12:45 a.m. Thursday. The door was open but no employees were around. A restaurant contact person was notified.

– The burglar alarm went off at 315 Parkview Drive at 3 p.m. Thursday but it was due to a malfunction.

– Susan M. Sansenbaugher, 54, Heck Road, New Springfield, reportedly backed into a vehicle driven by Kimberly S. Wolf, 54, West South Range Road, Salem, in the Huntington Bank lot at 11 a.m. Thursday.

– An employee at the East Park Veterinary Clinic reported at 5:11 a.m. Thursday there was a Chevy Cruze in their lot and it appeared to have damaged the fence. Police determined the Cruze had pushed some piled-up snow into the fence when it was parked. The owner, Cara English, was unaware what had occurred and said she only parked in the lot because her parking space was solid ice.

– Police responded to the 1700 block of West Third Street at 7:34 a.m. Thursday, where the complainant advised the passenger side window on there car was shattered. Photos were taken.

– Police responded to the 200 block of East Second Street at 4:54 p.m. Thursday for a report of a verbal dispute. A man came in the business and demanded a product from the business and was gone when police arrived.

– At 9:20 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1800 block of East State Street where the complainant advised that a man went through the drive-thru with a child who was not secured in the front seat. Police were unable to locate the vehicle that left going eastbound on E. State St.

– Police responded to the 1900 block of East State Street 19:51 p.m. Thursday for a missing juvenile complaint. Police located her and transported her back to her residence and the mother/complainant was advised of the options.

– At 10:53 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 2000 block of Monroe St. and found several males intoxicated in an apartment. Lance A. Saunders, 2060 Monroe St. #45, was charged with underage consumption along with a male juvenile. The juvenile was released to a family member.

– At 12:25 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of East Third Street to assist the drug task force execute a search warrant. Several people in the house were checked for warrants and some evidence was seized. The fire department stood by and another address in the 1200 block of Cleveland St. was checked with two people being checked for warrants. Some evidence was seized.

SALEM

– An alarm was reported at 1:45 a.m. Thursday at a business in the 2300 block of East State Street. The building was found secure.

– Michael Eberhardt, 23, of 1270 Cedar Ridge Drive, Apt. D, was cited for possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor, after officers following up on a disturbance detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from inside the apartment at 12:29 a.m. Thursday. Suspected marijuana was recovered and the citation issued. The disturbance had been reported at 12:14 a.m. by a tenant in different apartment who reported hearing what sounded like things being thrown and threats and somebody being thrown into a wall in another apartment. Contact was made with a female in the other apartment who said she had a verbal altercation with her neighbors in apartment D, but there were no threats of violence. The neighbors had been contacted and confirmed the argument with no threats or violence. All were told to stay away from each other.

– An alarm was reported at 12:24 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, with the exterior checked and found secure.

– An officer on patrol saw a vehicle in a no parking zone and issued a ticket. A report at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday said officers subsequently had the vehicle towed away due to the time of day, the freezing rain weather and the vehicle having been parked there for several hours after being ticketed.

– A resident in the 300 block of Fair Avenue reported at 9:14 p.m. Wednesday that someone spray painted the driver side window of a parked vehicle. The tenants also pointed out additional graffiti on the south wall of the apartment building.

– Dustin Brayshaw,, 21, of 1270 Cedar Ridge Drive, Apt. C, was charged with obstructing official business and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to the apartment at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday for a possible assault. Officers arrived and spoke to first responders who said a female had been injured and two males in the home were behaving strangely and one of them was hiding a possible weapon. One of the males couldn’t be located and was later found hiding in a compartment inside the home, identified as Brayshaw.

– A woman from Newgarden Avenue came to the police station at 8:06 p.m. Wednesday with her 17-year-old daughter regarding a domestic dispute that occurred the day before, resulting in additional problems Wednesday. The daughter said she was giving her 16-year-old brother a ride to his father’s residence in another town when they had an argument and he punched her in the right side of the neck, resulting in a bruise. They did not want to pursue it, but wanted documentation of ongoing problems in case future issues develop. The school saw the bruise and already made a referral to Children Services. Earlier in the evening at 6:22 p.m., officers were told about an unruly juvenile near the police station who allegedly damaged a tire on his mother’s vehicle while she was following him and trying to get him to return home. The juvenile had been arguing with his mother at home due to ongoing problems and not getting along with her and his sister. He had become angry and left the home and the mother followed him. In the 100 block of West Pershing Street, he used a small pocketknife to deflate one of her tires. After the boy spoke with an officer, the father responded and took him to his home, which the mother knew about. She didn’t want to file charges.

– Police responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street for a request for an ambulance at 8:01 p.m. Wednesday. A man fell on ice and was taken to the hospital.

– A woman in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday that her juvenile was being harassed by text message. She was told to save the messages and that the juvenile officer would be in touch.

– A woman from the 100 block of West Fifth Street reported at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday that she was assaulted in the afternoon.

– Police responded at 6:22 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of West Pershing Street for one to be removed. The resident wanted an intoxicated male removed from his home. Officers removed him and told him he needed to go elsewhere. He was being disorderly and persisted. After several warnings, police charged David G. Gasior, 41, whose last known address was 157 W. Fifth St., with disorderly conduct and took him to the Columbiana County jail.

– An officer at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday saw a vehicle unoccupied and parked in the Salem Plaza parking lot with one of its doors standing open. Nothing appeared disturbed inside. The officer was unable to locate an operator anywhere in the area and secured the door.

– Debris in the road was removed by an officer at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of East Third Street.

– A reckless vehicle was reported at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. The tan-colored Olds reportedly operated by a female wasn’t found.

– A bus driver reported at 2:49 p.m. Wednesday that juveniles have been throwing snowballs at her bus every day in the area of Hawley Avenue and East Sixth Street. An officer stayed in the area, but didn’t see anything.

– A well-being check was requested at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday on West Perry Street. The person was fine. The daughter was contacted and was going to follow up with her mother and father.

– Police assisted fire department first responders and KLG with traffic control at a medical in the 500 block of East State Street at 1:01 p.m. Wednesday.

– Police responded to the Walmart parking lot at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday for a motor vehicle lockout with a child inside. A woman from Lisbon said the child kicked the lock and locked her out. The vehicle was able to be unlocked without incident.

PERRY TWP.

– A woman called at 11:36 p.m. Wednesday to report her residence was being broken into. Upon arrival at a residence on state Route 9, police spoke with the husband who said he was outside and heard strange noises coming from one of his two neighbors’ residences. Upon checking the area with a sheriff’s office deputy, the noise was determined to be a flag whipping in the wind.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a suspicious person/vehicle. Police learned that two unknown people had exited a vehicle and went onto the resident’s porch. A neighbor saw them and caused them to flee in the small four-door dark-colored vehicle.

– Police responded at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday to the 1100 block of Elberon Avenue for a child custody incident, with both parties saying their attorneys advised them of different guidelines in regards to their custody arrangement. Both were told to talk with their attorneys.

– A loose dog was reported at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on Benton Road, but was secured before police arrived.

– Donald Mohr, 50, of 1436 Benton Road, was cited for fictitious plates and marijuana possession after a traffic stop in the parking lot of Annabell’s Restaurant on Benton Road at 10:32 a.m. Wednesday. The report said he was operating the vehicle with fictitious plates and was found in possession of a small tin with two suspected marijuana cigarettes.

– Police were called at 8:56 a.m. Wednesday for an open door on a residence on East Pidgeon Road. Police checked the residence and secured the door.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Lloyd V. Miller, 67, 8545 W. South Range Road, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday in which he was eastbound on Middletown Road approaching Lisbon Road and traveled off the right side of the roadway, over a street sign and into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

– An East Park Avenue man reported at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday a Heck’s restaurant delivery truck was driving through his front yard.

– A woman reported at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday someone in a white van was soliciting in the Dollar General parking lot. Police found the man, identified as Wasun Udomthosakul, and warned him for soliciting.

LISBON

– Robert Deal, West Lincoln Way, reported Wednesday someone opened a credit card in his name and used the card to purchase $493 in clothing in Columbus on Jan. 29.

– Carla Moore, Moore Street, reported Tuesday the back window of her vehicle was broken while the vehicle was parked in her driveway.

– Melissa Timmons, North Market Street, reported at 5:43 a.m. Tuesday it sounded like someone was trying to get in her home through the locked back door. Police did not see any fresh footprints in the snow.

POLICE REPORTS

PERRY TWP.

– Police responded at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday to the trailer park in the 400 block of Benton Road for a reported fight. It was found that no fight was occurring, just loud persons. All were identified and checked for warrants and told to keep the noise down. Police were assisted by Salem units.

– An anonymous caller at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday reported juveniles being extremely loud in the 1800 block of state Route 9. Police discovered the people were actually adults moving equipment from one building to another.

– A resident on East Pidgeon Road contacted police at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday to report a fraudulent charge on her bank account. Police contacted the company that made the withdrawal from the account and they denied police any information about the person who authorized the charge. The resident was told to dispute the charge with the bank.

SALEM

– Police were called at 6:46 a.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of South Union Avenue for a domestic in progress. Both parties said it was a verbal argument only with nothing physical occurring. The female contacted a family member so she could leave with them for the day.

– Police responded at 11:03 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Euclid Street to check the well-being of a person. Officers spoke with the person and found everything was fine.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 8:46 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Continental Drive. Officers arrived and spoke with a woman who said her boyfriend assaulted her and a juvenile during an argument. She also said he broke several items inside the home before leaving. The incident is under investigation.

– Police responded at 6:31 p.m. Tuesday to the 1300 block of East Pershing Street for a suspicious person who trespassed at a residence. Officers obtained a description which fit the description of a person officers dealt with earlier. Officers spoke to the person and told him not to return to the residence or he will be charged with criminal trespassing.

– Police responded at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday to the 2300 block of Kennedy Drive for a suspicious person. An elderly woman said she did not feel comfortable with the person and wanted him to leave. He was told not to have any further contact with her or to return to the residence.

– Jean Fehr, 88, of South Union Avenue, was cited for reasonable control after her westbound vehicle on East Pershing Street struck a parked vehicle facing westbound owned by Nicholas Rusyn, 56, of South Union Avenue, at 4:12 p.m. Tuesday.

COLUMBIANA

– Police helped a man get to a gas station after his vehicle became disabled on state Route 14 near County Line Road at 3:23 a.m. Tuesday.

– Albert Bricker, New Castle, Pa., was southbound on Lisbon Street at 9:13 a.m. Tuesday and Sara Bricker, Columbiana, was eastbound and stopped for a stop sign and then failed to yield right-of-way and struck Albert Bricker on the passenger side. No citations were issued.

LISBON

– A caller reported at 7 p.m. Monday that an elderly man had fallen several times on East Lincoln Way. Police arrived and spoke to the man, who said he was fine. Police watched as the man continued to walk on the sidewalk and he did not fall.

– Police were asked to check on the welfare of a man living on East Chestnut Street at 8:37 p.m. Monday, and the man told the police he was fine. Police told the man his son had contacted them because he had not heard from him in a couple of days, and the man was told he should give his son a call.

– Police responded to a report of yelling coming from a home on North Market Street at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday and spoke with a woman who was arguing with her teenage daughter because she had a male companion at the apartment earlier in the evening. The daughter was told to mind her mother, and the companion was given a ride home by police.

– A grandfather reported Feb. 5 his 15-year-old grandson was involved in a fight at the high school and he wanted to file charges against the other youth. The fight had been videotaped by another student and it showed the 15-year-old smacking the other boy on the back of the head. The other boy responded by slamming the 15-year-old to the ground.

– Victoria Pierson, Maple Street, reported her gas meter was knocked off the house at 4:30 a.m. Feb. 5. Police found tire tracks in the snow from a vehicle that backed out of a driveway on South Lincoln and planned to contact the residents.

NEW WATERFORD

– Police responded to the 46000 block of North State Street at 12:25 p.m. Jan. 31 where a residential burglary alarm was going off. Police checked the residence and were unable to locate anything suspicious or the resident. Everything appeared to be OK.

– At 3:46 p.m. Jan. 30, police responded to the Vittle Village for reports of a wounded duck that was threatening customers. Police found a goose in front of the main door, pecking at the glass. A baton was used to push it back a safe distance and it had a slight cut on its foot and was bleeding. The injury did not appear to be life threatening. It was placed in a large trash bag and transported to the village park and released.

– Police responded to the post office in the 38000 block of West Main Street at 3:42 p.m. Feb. 5 where a vehicle had struck the building. The postmaster said there was damage inside. The driver remembered pulling into the parking lot and his wife said he “blacked out” and had a history of diabetes. He was upset and shaking. EMS arrived and evaluated the driver. Photos were taken of the vehicle, which appeared to have cosmetic damage, and of the building.

– At 10:05 p.m. Feb. 2 police were dispatched to the Vittle Village where a man was standing in the porch area and said he was waiting for a ride. He was identified as being from Rochester, Pa., and taken to the police station where contacted his girlfriend who responded to pick him up.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– Police were called at 2:12 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of Walnut Street where a parole officer was there to see a person and heard yelling. The person told police she was yelling because she was upset. No one else was in the house.

– Noreen Smolira, 50, of East Third Street, was cited for hit/skip-private property after allegedly traveling the wrong way down the aisle of the Salem Regional Medical Center parking deck with traffic trying to exit and colliding with a vehicle owned by Dave Crawford, which was parking in the parking deck at 1:23 p.m. Tuesday. Smolira left the scene and was later contacted at her residence and cited. The owner of the other vehicle could not be reached. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

– Police were called to check the well-being of a female resident in the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday after a doctor’s office in Columbiana was speaking with her by phone and the line went dead. Police learned that Ohio Edison was working in the area and shut the power off.

– A woman came to the station at 10:06 a.m. Tuesday to file a domestic violence report, saying she had been physically abused by her live-in boyfriend over the past four days in the 500 block of Walnut Street.

– Police were called at 7:11 a.m. Tuesday to Stone Castle Trail for two suspicious vehicles. Police found two vehicles parked at a residence in the 1500 block . The people said they were starting work on the property and waiting for the homeowner.

– An officer on patrol at 11:13 p.m. Monday was dispatched to a medical problem in the 600 block of East Third Street. Fire department first responders and EMT ambulance responded and transported a person from the scene.

– An officer at 9:59 p.m. Monday saw suspicious activity in the 700 block of East Fifth Street and stopped the suspicious persons, finding they had no warrrants. They were told to call ahead before coming to someone’s house to ensure the person is home. They could not provide accurate information about the resident and were told to leave. The resident was not there.

– Police responded at 9:39 p.m. Monday to an apartment in the 2000 block of Monroe for an open 911 line. The call was accidental with no problem indicated.

– Parking tickets were issued for two vehicles parked in front of a fire hydrant in the 100 block of Railroad Street at 8:14 p.m. Monday.

– Recovered drug paraphernalia from West State Street was turned over to police at 7:32 p.m. Monday.

– Two suspicious people were reported not leaving a residence in the 1500 block of Maple Street at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The caller told police it was just two workers for a plumbing company. The neighbor had called her before police arrived to say they were working on the plumbing and believed the problem was in her yard. They were attempting to contact her.

– An anonymous caller at 5:55 p.m. Monday reported telecommunications harassment, with a text message coming from Denver. The text message of a sexual nature was identical to that of another complaint on the same date which originated from a different phone number in a different state. The caller was told to ignore the messages and notify the cell provider.

– A woman on Deming Street reported at 4:48 p.m. Monday that she received several harassing text messages sent to her phone Monday and Sunday. The messages appeared to be trying to lure her into calling the number back. Police researched the two numbers online and noted numerous other people had received unwanted texts from them.

– A small child was reported unattended in the 1600 block of East State Street at 3:53 p.m. Monday. A person had stopped and secured the child until police arrived. The child was on the sidewalk near the corner of East State and Brooklyn Avenue with no one else around. The child was properly clothed with a winter coat but was too young to be outside alone. A person identified as the parent was then seen. The parent had walked up the street to pick up another child from the school bus stop while the child’s grandmother had been watching the children in the house and was not aware the child had gotten outside. She was looking for the child inside. They were told to make some adjustments to ensure the children can’t get outside undetected.

– John R. Hall, 45, of Somer Street, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield after his northbound vehicle on South Cunningham Road started through the intersection at Butcher Road and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Susan Shuman, 51, of Orchard Court, who had stopped at the intersection and then started through it at 2:56 p.m. Monday. Hall said he didn’t see her. The report said Shuman’s vehicle was almost through the intersection. No injuries were reported.

– A parking ticket was issued for a vehicle parked in front of mailboxes in a no parking zone on Cedar Ridge at 2:51 p.m. Monday. The vehicle was parked beside a no parking sign.

– Suspicious activity was reported on Cleveland Street at 2:22 p.m. Monday, with nothing found.

– An ambulance was needed at 2:03 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Euclid Street to take a male to the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency room. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance both responded.

-Loud persons were reported at 11:39 p.m. Sunday on East Sixth Street, but no violations were heard.

SALEM

– A woman from East 10th Street contacted police at 11:52 a.m. Monday requesting information in reference to an unwanted male living at her residence. She was told it’s a civil matter and to contact either an attorney or her landlord.

– No citation was issued, with stories conflicting about who pulled out first during a two-vehicle accident at 11:05 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and East State Street. Elaine Lower, 68, of Leetonia, was leaving the AT&T building parking lot in the 1000 block of East State Street when her vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Sharon Easton, 63, of South Lincoln Avenue, who was at the stop sign on Woodland and made a left turn onto State Street. The report said the vehicles collided near the center line. No injuries were reported.

– Management of Ventra, 800 Pennsylvania Ave., called police at 10:53 a.m. Monday to report an altercation between two drivers from a trucking company. Neither of them were wanted back on the property. The trucking company was advised of the problem.

– Amanda Houchins, 32, of Lexington Avenue, was cited for a traffic control device violation and driving under suspension after a two-vehicle accident at 10:50 a.m. Monday at North Union Avenue and East Third Street. The report said Houchins was driving north on South Union toward East State Street and ran the red light, causing the front bumper of her vehicle to strike the passenger door of a westbound vehicle driven by Gary Knizat, 69, of Whinnery Road. Houchins, her 2-year-old child and another passenger, Matthew Carlisle, 34, of Cleveland Street, were all taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Vicki Knizat, 67, who was a passenger in the other vehicle, was also transported to the hospital by ambulance.

– A vehicle reported to be blocking an alley in the 700 block of East Third Street at 9:44 a.m. Monday was moved by the owner.

– A vehicle in a no parking zone on East Fourth Street at 9:02 a.m. Monday was moved after the owner was contacted.

– A reckless operator was reported at 2:08 a.m. Monday near South Union and Pershing, but no vehicles were found.

– Police responded at 12:42 a.m. Monday to the 1100 block of East Third Street for an unwanted person. Officers spoke with a male who said he was upset with the mother of his child and her new boyfriend. The woman who called said the male does not live there and she wanted him to leave. Another man at the residence said he was assaulted by the male who would not leave. Officers told him to leave. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review for possible assault charges.

– Officers on patrol at 11:29 p.m. Sunday saw a bumper cover from a vehicle on a curb lawn on Southeast Boulevard.

– A vehicle parked on an incline of ice in the 300 block of West Second Street slid into the road at 10:20 p.m. Sunday. The owner responded and removed the vehicle. Police had been called to the same area at 4:16 p.m. for a vehicle sliding on the ice into the road and the owner responded.

– A reckless operator was reported at 9:43 p.m. Sunday on Cunningham Road, but was not found.

– A parking ticket was issued at 9:05 p.m. Sunday for a vehicle parked illegally in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 7:04 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Hawley Avenue over one of the persons operating a vehicle allegedly impaired. After speaking with the person, it was determined she had taken prescription medication. She called for a family member to take her home.

– Police were called to Salem Regional Medical Center at 6:40 p.m. Sunday for a disorderly person. A person attempting to give care to a patient was struck by the male multiple times in the face. He was calmed down and was given medical care. The incident is under investigation with charges pending a review.

– Police were called to Eighth Street at 5:49 p.m. Sunday for a male who approached a resident and asked for money. The person was located later and told not to return.

– An officer on patrol on South Broadway at 5:41 p.m. Sunday saw a plume of black smoke to the south. The officer responded to the rear of the AMVETS and found people properly disposing of old flags.

– Police responded to the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 5:39 p.m. Sunday to check the welfare of a resident. The person was voluntarily transported to the hospital by ambulance for an evaluation.

– A vehicle owner called police at 5:37 p.m. Sunday to report someone slashed two tires on the driver side of the vehicle while parked in the 400 block of South Broadway.

– A resident on Park Avenue at 3:32 p.m. Sunday asked police to contact a neighbor on Fair Avenue who continues to use his private drive beside his house. The neighbor was told about the complaint.

– A disturbance was reported at 2:08 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Rose Avenue. A woman said the landlord caused the disturbance at their apartment regarding their rent. She was upset because the issue took place while she was holding her child. The landlord admitted he did get loud but was upset over the rent being late.

– A van found parked at the stop sign on Vine Avenue at 1:46 p.m. Sunday was moved after the owner was contacted.

– A woman in the 100 block of Woodland reported at 1:20 p.m. Sunday that her juvenile son left to go to his cousin’s house at 5 p.m. Saturday and has not returned. He was entered as missing in the law enforcement data base.

– Tyler Heverly, of Lisbon, reported at 11:31 a.m. Sunday that someone struck the left front of his vehicle while it was parked on the side of an apartment building in the 200 block of East Third Street for an hour. There was minor damage.

– A man came to the station at 9:39 a.m. Sunday to report that on Thursday around 10 a.m., a person came to his residence in the city asking for money to shovel his driveway. He gave the person $20, but then the person said he wanted to go home to get his snowblower but never returned to shovel the drive.

– A case of phone harassment was alleged at 11:31 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Washington Avenue, but after talking to both parties, police believed it was resolved.

PERRY TWP.

– Police were called to a domestic between a parent and juvenile in the 700 block of Cunningham Road where the juvenile threatened the parent with bodily harm while armed with a large tool at 4:07 p.m. Sunday. The juvenile was taken into custody for domestic violence and treated for a minor injury at Salem Regional Medical Center, then transported to the Tobin Center. Salem Police were called to assist the township officer at the scene and at the station.

– Fred Drotleff, of state Route 9, reported at 11:51 a.m. Saturday that someone struck the rear of his vehicle while it was parked at Adele’s Restaurant on Snyder Road and broke the tail light. The other vehicle left the scene.

– A woman on West Perry Street reported at 9:04 p.m. Friday that she heard a dog that sounded like it had been struck by a vehicle. Police searched the area but were unable to hear anything or locate an injured animal.

– Police were called at 2:59 p.m. Friday to industrial buildings on state Route 9 where the owner found an attempt had been made to gain entry into one of the buildings without success. Damage was noted to one of the doors.

LISBON

– A clerk at the Days Inn reported there was a man slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot at 3:29 p.m. Friday. Police spoke with the man, who said he was just tired and had pulled over to take a nap.

– Police were called to Smith Oil at 7 p.m. Thursday, where a Hanoverton man reported he had just been released from the county jail but had no place to stay or a phone to call anyone. The officer called the man’s daughter for him, and arrangements were made to pick him up.

– Tiffiani Guappone, state Route 154, called at 5:13 p.m. Saturday to report she and Taylor Willard were arguing over Willard wanting her to move out of the house. Guappone said they were both on the lease and had been living there for just over two weeks. Guappone denied that anything physical occurred between them, although Willard threw her phone at the wall. Willard collected some of her clothes and left.

– Police were called to a domestic dispute on South Lincoln at 8:32 p.m. Sunday in regard to a 13-year-old boy who was refusing to mind his mother and had sprayed soap on the kitchen floor. The woman reported her 10-year-old son had also been swearing at her. The police officer told the boys to be more obedient and to quit swearing.

– Police were called to a home on West Lincoln Way at 1:52 a.m. Feb. 1 to stand by while an ambulance was called to transport a man to an area hospital.

– Angie McElroy, South Lincoln Avenue, reported Saturday her boyfriend against whom she has a protection order had contacted her friends saying he was going to call police for having his property. She just wanted a report on file in case he showed up.

– Police were called to the Twin Oaks trailer park at 10:13 p.m. Saturday about a man who was thinking about hurting himself.

– Police were called to a home on West Chestnut Street at 10:54 p.m. Saturday in regard to a woman believed to be having a heart attack. Police stood by until an ambulance arrived to transport the woman to a local hospital.

– A clerk at the Days Inn reported at 4:37 a.m. Sunday her ex-girlfriend who lives in Cincinnati was harassing her by calling the business line. Police called the ex-girlfriend to tell her to quit calling.

– Kristopher T. Elsass, 55, North Jefferson Street, was cited for making an improper turn after he struck a vehicle driven by Scott A. Trevelen, 32, East Lincoln Way, at the intersection of North Jefferson and East Chestnut at 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

COLUMBIANA

– Saundra Bonfert, Salem, was preparing to turn southbound onto state Route 7 from state Route 14 at 7:54 a.m. Sunday and waiting for traffic to clear when Tyler Souder, Columbiana, struck her from behind. Souder was cited for assured clear distance.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Antonio L. Pinkney, 29, Cleveland, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated (.172 BAC), driving under suspension (failure to reinstate), lanes of travel and open container following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 62 at Country Club Lane at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. A passenger was transported by Damascus EMS to the Salem hospital for possible alcohol poisoning.

SALEM REPORTS

-Police responded to Club Fuel on Railroad Street at 2:13 a.m. Sunday for a report of a person making threats with a gun. An anonymous caller said the person left in a vehicle prior to police arriving. The vehicle could not be found.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 12:32 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West Seventh Street. Both parties said they got into an argument, but nothing physical took place. They said they would stay away from each other for the night.

– Heather Ferguson, 30, of 1074 E. 10th St., was charged with theft and William Alesi III, 30, whose last known address was 1138 Liberty Street, was charged with complicity to theft and criminal damaging after police were called to Walmart, 2875 E. State St., at 12:05 a.m. Sunday for a shoplifting incident. Loss prevention had a female stopped for shoplifting and a second suspect was still in the men’s restroom. Police detained him after locating him there. After an investigation, they were both charged, processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail.

– Police were called at 9:41 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of Bricker Farm Lane for juveniles throwing items at vehicles. The juveniles were located and the parent watching them was made aware of the incident.

– An anonymous caller at 8:56 p.m. Saturday reported a counterfeit bill passed as real currency at a business in the 200 block of West State Street. The incident was under investigation.

– An officer on patrol at 7:17 p.m. Saturday stopped a vehicle on East Third Street near Rose for several moving violations. The driver was given a warning for the violations, but during a consent search of the vehicle officers recovered contraband. The driver and passengers were released. The contraband will be sent for testing with possible charges pending those results.

– A woman from Maryland came to the police station at 6:44 p.m. Saturday to speak with an officer about finding an unknown substance on the food they purchased at a local restaurant in the city. She brought the food in question with her to show officers. Officers contacted after hours personnel from both the county health department and the Salem Health Department and they were advised of the situation.

– Officers on patrol at 6:30 p.m. Saturday stopped a person who was running between traffic on Hawley Avenue near Cleveland Street. The person was told to use the sidewalk.

– A reckless vehicle was reported at 5:44 p.m. Saturday in the 2900 block of East State Street. Police found the vehicle parked at a business and advised the driver about the complaint. Officers didn’t witness any violations.

– Julio Pu Brito, 29, of South Lincoln Avenue, was cited for driving without a license and starting/backing unsafely after his vehicle backed into a vehicle driven by Brandi Wood-Jackson, 30, of Coraopolis, Pa., who was pulling into a parking space in the McDonald’s parking lot on East State Street at 4:10 p.m. Saturday.

– Judy Woods of Franklin Avenue reported at 2:19 p.m. Saturday that someone in an unknown vehicle struck the front of her vehicle in the Giant Eagle parking lot on East State Street, causing minor damage.

– Officers were called at 12:19 p.m. Saturday to the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a missing adult, but the dispatcher then told officers the adult male was found at Giant Eagle on East State Street. His wife was there to pick him up.

– Police responded to Rite Aid, 2229 E. State St., for a man trying to pick up a prescription for another person at 12:09 p.m. Saturday. He allegedly became upset when the store personnel wouldn’t give him the prescription due to it possibly being counterfeit. He left before police arrived.

– Police responded to Jennings Avenue and West State Street for a report at 11:30 a.m. Saturday of bowling balls in the middle of the road. Officers placed them on the curb lawn for the street department to pick up.

LISBON REPORTS

– Paul Meyers, 39, was arrested for domestic violence and taken to the county jail after police were called to 128 Vine St., at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday.

– Brock Huston, Maple Street, reported at 2:37 p.m. Thursday someone was driving an ATV on his sidewalk, driveway and around his property and he believed it was a man who lives on McKinley Street. Police spoke to the man, who said he would be more cautious plowing snow with his ATV. Huston also reported he was having trouble with a neighbor who was allowing their dog to defecate in his yard. Police spoke to the woman who said she would keep her dog chained up in her yard and clean up the mess.

Columbiana REPORTS

– Police assisted Beaver Township police with a traffic stop on Redpath Road at 12:26 a.m. Saturday.

– Katie Stack reported at 3:51 a.m. Saturday she saw a man she believed was the Circle K clerk go to the ground while two other men were in the store. Police found the man had slipped and fallen and that there were no other problems. He did not need medical attention.

– Police went to 22 W. Park Ave. at 11:43 a.m. Saturday after receiving a 911 open line phone call and hearing yelling. It was found that an 18-year-old man was having a dispute with his juvenile girlfriend.

– A woman reported at 4:28 p.m. Saturday there was a snowmobile on private property at Terre Verde. Police checked and did not see a snowmobile driving there but did see tracks in vacant lots at some houses, although there were shoveled paths for the snowmobile to use.

– Beaver Township police reported at 4:34 p.m. Saturday someone in a maroon Jeep headed southbound on state Route 164 toward state Route 14 was shining a green laser light at a driver. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle.

– Dynthia Hazlett reported at 6 p.m. Saturday she was behind a reckless driver in a dark gray/blue older Mercury Mountaineer while eastbound on state Route 14. Police stopped the vehicle and the driver explained his driving.

– Richard Curl, Newton Falls, reported at 6:42 p.m. Saturday he was almost hit by a silver Ford Taurus at the Duke and Duchess parking lot.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM TOWNSHIP REPORT

– A woman on Lisbon-Canfield Road in Leetonia called about a case of alleged menacing by stalking at 6:59 p.m. Friday, reporting she feels someone has been following her wherever she goes. She also reported that on two occasions she was hit with a laser which caused burns to her neck and back. She gave a description of a vehicle that she has seen traveling near her house on a regular basis and said she saw the person holding a laser gun. The matter is under investigation.

SALEM REPORTS

– Bruce Behner III, 34, of 14337 South Range Road, was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension and marked lanes after a traffic stop at 2:49 a.m. Saturday in the area of Benton Road/West State Street.

– Police responded at 1:48 a.m. Saturday to an alarm drop in the 1800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue, finding all windows and doors in the building secure.

– A caller at 12:06 a.m. Saturday reported a vehicle with the back door left open in the 200 block of West State Street. Officers checked the vehicle and everything appeared okay. The vehicle was secured.

– A dispute was reported at 10:57 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue. Police found no physical violence occurred and one of the parties left for the night to let the situation de-escalate.

– Angel Lake, 31, of 516 1/2 Bank St., was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 10:22 p.m. Friday on East Third Street. The owner requested the vehicle be locked and the keys taken from the person driving so they could no longer operate it.

– Officers on patrol saw a vehicle in the 200 block of Hawley turn without signaling. The driver was pulled over and given a verbal warning for no signal. Officers were given consent to search the vehicle, but when they started, consent was revoked.

– Jamie Risbeck, 38, of Washington Avenue, was cited for expired registration after a traffic stop at 7:12 p.m. Friday on East State Street. The officers were given consent to search the vehicle, but nothing illegal was found.

– Tiona L. Jones, 32, of Galloway, was charged with wrongful entrustment at 5:21 p.m. Friday for an incident which occurred Tuesday involving her vehicle. The driver had been charged for driving under suspension.

– An officer on patrol at 5:08 p.m. Friday stopped a vehicle for several moving violations on East State and Washington. The driver was given a warning, but during a search of the vehicle, contraband was found. The driver and passenger were released, but the contraband will be sent for testing.

– Police responded to the area of East State Street and South Madison at 4:47 p.m. Friday for a report of a reckless driver. The vehicle was found on Fair Avenue and police made contact with the driver who they learned had a nose bleed.

– No citations were issued and no injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident in the Giant Eagle parking lot at 4:24 p.m. Friday when a vehicle struck another vehicle backing out. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

– A man at 3:24 p.m. Friday called about receiving unwanted calls/texts from a family member in the city. He was told he would have to file a report with his local police department.

– Joy Mraz, 55, of East Sixth Street, was cited for driving under suspension after her vehicle traveled through the Quaker Village parking lot, attempted to stop and slid into a vehicle driven by Joanie Coffman, 27, of East Second Street, who was stopped on East Pershing Street for traffic at 3:12 p.m. Friday. Minor damage was reported to the vehicles.

– Home Depot representatives reported at 2:59 p.m. Friday that three people walked out of the store without paying for four rolls of assorted wire. A license plate number was written down and video was being reviewed.

– A woman in the 600 block of North Howard Avenue reported at 1:43 p.m. Friday that someone has been taking mail from her mailbox at her apartment building. She already notified the post office.

– Police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 12:11 p.m. Friday after receiving a call from the Sheriff’s Office for a 911 call from a male. Officers knocked numerous times on the door and no one answered. Nobody could be heard inside and police didn’t see anyone who needed help. Nothing was found behind the residence, either.

– An audible alarm was reported at 10:36 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of Arch Street. The homeowner said everything was fine.

– Police were called about a white vehicle heading into Salem from Leetonia at a high rate of speed at 9:06 a.m. Friday. The driver was reported to be a male with long hair driving recklessly. Police located a white Chevy Cavalier traveling west on Franklin near South Lincoln Avenue and initiated a traffic stop. The male driver was identified and said he was coming from Leetonia and left work because of a phone call he received making threats. He was trying to get home to his girlfriend in Perry Township. Officers said they would let Leetonia Police know and also contacted Perry Township Police at his request to send officers to his residence. He was told to slow down.

– Michael Middleton, 35, of Lexington Avenue, was cited for failure to control after losing control of his westbound vehicle on East Sixth Street at 9:05 a.m. Friday and striking an eastbound vehicle driven by Jody Kozma, 34, of Oak Street.

– A woman on Sharp Street reported at 8:09 a.m. Friday that she made a post on social media about an incident and received a threatening message from a female via social media about the incident. She wanted it documented.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– A Quincy Avenue woman reported at 12:02 a.m. Friday she had someone knocking on her door, and then knocking on her bedroom door. She found no one in the apartment. She later reported at 2:57 a.m. that someone was in the apartment and wiggling her doorknobs. She was taken to her sister’s residence on Meadow Lane.

– Heather Gamble, James Street, reported at 12:13 p.m. Friday that while waiting at a red light on North Main Street, someone backed into her vehicle. The other car was backing from the gas station, pulled forward and left the scene after the car was waved by someone else at the station, who didn’t believe there was any contact made. No visible damage was observed on Gamble’s car.

– The electric department reported at 11:44 a.m. Friday that an East Metz Road resident put foil over his electric meter, causing signal problem for the meter reader. The resident’s wife was advised to let him know not to do this again or he will be charged.

– A male employee at Advanced Auto Parts reported at 7:21 p.m. Friday he has received unwanted calls from a customer from Youngstown.

– The following motorists were cited for running a flashing red light at the intersection of North Market Street and North Park Avenue: Erik R. Gonzales, 22, of Eau Claire, Mich., at 1:26 a.m. Friday; Sheldon J. Purdy, 46, of Steubenville, at 12:12 a.m. Friday; and Crystal Angle-Wise, 48, Montgomery Street, East Liverpool, at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

COLUMBIANA

– On Thursday police issued a 10-day junk vehicle notice to Gary Dickens, 15 Herbster St., Matthew Hazel, Boardman, for the property at 222 1/2 Union Street, and Arthur Sichau, Hinckley, for the property at 139 N. Main St.

– Nikki L. Richards, 34, Kirk Road, was westbound on East Salem Street at 8:32 a.m. Thursday and attempted to make a right-hand-turn on red at the North Main Street traffic light and failed to yield the right-of-way to Bobby G. Whitlow, 54, Enterprise, Texas, who was northbound on North Main Street. Richards was cited for signal lights.

– Kathleen E. Krawchyk, 29, Union Street, was westbound on Union Street at 8:53 a.m. Thursday and struck the right side of a trailer attached to a semi that was northbound on South West Street and driven by Charles L. Austin Jr., 50, Pittsburgh, Pa. No citations were issued due to conflicting statements.

– Police transported Robert Crespo from the Mahoning County Jail to the Columbiana County Jail at 8:11 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for a drug charge.

– A man reported at 1:30 p.m. Thursday a woman was committing a sex act in a black Cobalt in the laundromat parking lot on South Main Street. Police checked but the vehicle was gone.

– Connie Offenburg, 21, James Street, was attempting to drive between two vehicles at the Duke and Duchess gas station at 6:36 p.m. Thursday and struck the driver side door of a vehicle being driven by Daniel Valentine, 47, North Glenview Lane, Leetonia, that was parked at gas pump No. 8. No citations were issued due to being on private property.

– Brenda Carder, address not listed, reported at 11:14 p.m. Thursday she was receiving threatening text messages from a man she had been talking to online. Police attempted to contact the number the messages were coming from but were not successful.

SALEM

– Police responded to a breaking and entering report in the 1600 block of Cleveland Street at 10:21 a.m. Thursday and found that someone had taken copper pipe from inside the building. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing else appeared to be missing.

– An officer responded to a disabled vehicle at East State Street and South Madison Avenue at 12:29 p.m. Thursday and found a semi in the center turn lane on East State Street. The driver was exiting a nearby restaurant and said that he had stopped to get some lunch.

– Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at North Lincoln Avenue and East 10th Street at 2:56 p.m. Thursday in which Timothy S. Costa, 55, Salem was westbound on 10th and attempted to stop, but slid into a southbound vehicle driven by Zachary A. Zeh, 28, Berlin Center, who was attempting a left turn. No injuries were reported and no citations issued.

– Police responded to a verbal dispute in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 4:17 p.m. Thursday and found both people separated and headed their own way. They were advised to stay away from each other and to leave the premises.

– A Southeast Boulevard resident reported on station at 4:18 p.m. Thursday that her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend were sending her unwanted text messages and posting things on Facebook.

– A patrolling officer observed an unoccupied disabled vehicle at Cunningham and Butcher roads at 4:51 p.m. Thursday. The driver returned while the officer was on scene and said that she ran out of gas and had left to get some.

– An officer responded to a private property crash in the 2300 block of East State Street at 5:34 p.m. Thursday in which a vehicle slid into another one while the driver was attempting to park.

– An officer responded to a three-vehicle crash on East State Street at Lincoln Avenue at 5:52 p.m. Thursday in which one vehicle slid into another, pushing it into the third one, while attempting to stop westbound at the light. No injuries were reported and no citations issued.

– A West 10th Street resident reported on station at 6:20 p.m. Thursday that a snow plow struck his vehicle while it was parked in the street overnight, but that he did not see it happen. He was told that he could not assume it was a snow plow if he did not see it happen and he declined to file a report if the city would not pay for the damage.

– A resident reported on station at 6:54 p.m. Thursday a case of fraud involving an elderly family member.

– Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:12 p.m. Thursday and found it to be a verbal dispute. Those involved were told to calm down if they were both staying at the residence for the night.

– Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 1200 Cedar Ridge Drive at 8:29 p.m. Thursday and found a man with a bloody nose. He claimed that the woman there had punched him in the nose, but she said she accidentally hit him while pushing him away when he came at her. The man declined medical treatment and left the home for the night.

– Shani A. Jones, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead and leaving the scene of a crash following a two-vehicle crash that occurred at Cunningham and Butcher Roads at 9:16 p.m. Thursday in which she was southbound on Cunningham and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Brittany M. Burbick, Lisbon, and then fleeing the area. Officers found her at her home after Burbick provided a vehicle description and license plate number.

– Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Aetna Street at 10:22 p.m. Thursday in reference to a person walking in the roadway. Officers spoke with the man in question who said he was walking along the curb due to the snow on the sidewalk. He was warned to pay attention to traffic.

– Police responded to a two-vehicle private property crash at 1000 W. State St. at 1:27 p.m. Thursday in which Daniel Baker, 34, Salem, was attempting to back a vehicle out of a parking space and collided with a vehicle driven by David Ward, 52, Irondale, who was attempting to pull into a parking space, causing minor damage to the vehicles.

– An officer responded to a disabled vehicle in the roadway on U.S. Route 62 at Ohio Boulevard at 5:04 p.m. Thursday. The officer and good Samaritans attempted to push the vehicle from the roadway but were unable to move it. Someone had a tow strap and pulled the vehicle onto a side street to await a two truck.

– Police were advised of a rolling domestic coming from the Damascus area toward Salem followed by another vehicle at 5:22 p.m. Thursday. An officer located the complainant who said that the vehicle had pulled into the C&C Trailer Court and provided a description of it. The officer found the vehicle and spoke with the man and woman who had been in it, both of whom said there were no problems.

– Police responded to a report of a juvenile claiming to want to harm himself and being unruly at 8:32 p.m. Thursday. An officer spoke with the juvenile, and a custodial parent not present wished for the juvenile to be evaluated. The juvenile was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital emergency room for evaluation without any problems.

SALEM

– An alarm was reported at 9:29 a.m. Thursday at a business in the 1400 block of Salem Parkway. All was okay. The alarm had also gone off at 6:51 a.m. and it was determined employees were in the building.

– A semi truck was reported stuck on ice and unable to move forward in the 1200 block of East State Street at 9:25 a.m. Thursday. The street department responded and put down some salt on the road. Officers provided traffic control until the semi was able to move.

– Police responded at 8:26 a.m. Thursday to a business on Pennsylvania Avenue after receiving a complaint about a truck with an unsecure load. Police located a flat bed truck with material on the back and spoke to the driver who said he didn’t realize he had lost any part of his load. He checked and said some material was gone. An officer told him a caller reported a piece on the north side and a piece on the south side of the ski slope on state Route 45. The caller had followed the truck to the city. The driver said he would drop off his load and go pick up the material.

– A man in the 700 block of East Fifth Street reported at 6:30 a.m. Thursday that a male known to him had threatened him a couple years ago. He was asked if he received any recent threats and he said there weren’t any.

– A security alarm was reported at 3:54 a.m. Thursday in the 700 block of South Broadway Avenue. The business was found secure.

– An officer on patrol at 2:24 a.m. Thursday saw a man walking through Centennial Park after the park closed. Contact was made and he said he was walking through the park on his way to his residence on Washington Avenue. No warrants were found and he was told the park hours.

– An alarm activated at the Italian Club on Penn Avenue at 1:12 a.m. Thursday. The exterior appeared secure and the interior was checked after a keyholder responded. All was found in order.

– A well-being check was requested at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday for a person in the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. She said she was fine.

– Officers on a call in the 2300 block of Southeast Boulevard were told at 8:19 p.m. Wednesday about a burglary that occurred two weeks ago. The incident is under investigation. A woman at the residence had reported telecommunications harassment at 7:33 p.m. She said her ex-boyfriend was constantly calling and texting her and was showing up at her place of employment. Officers told her they would tell him to stop all contact.

– Police responded at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday to Arch Street near Newgarden Avenue for a report of an intoxicated male walking in the road. He was not found.

– An audible alarm was reported at 8:16 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Second Street, with the building found secure.

– Police responded to the Salem Public Library at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a patron causing a problem and staff wanting him removed. The man said he was threatened by unknown people. He was escorted off the property and told that he’s barred from the library for six months. If he returns, he’ll be arrested for trespassing.

– An officer saw a juvenile running in the middle of the street on Jennings Avenue at 6:42 p.m. Wednesday. He said he was on his way home from a neighbor’s house. He was told to use the sidewalk.

– Police are investigating an alleged assault in the Walmart parking lot reported at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday. A motorist nearly struck a 16-year-old boy in the parking lot, leading to a verbal altercation between the male driver and the juvenile. The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and approached the boy during the verbal exchange and then grabbed the boy by the neck. At about that time, a nearby witness saw what was occurring and yelled at the man to let go of the boy. The male driver then shoved the juvenile backward, got back into his vehicle and left. Witnesses got his license plate number and officers were checking the surveillance video. The incident is under investigation with charges pending.

– A caller at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday reported a dog chained up outside without any shelter at a property in the 1000 block of East Pershing Street. Officers checked the residence and spoke with the owner of the animal who said they let the dog out for a few minutes and took the dog back inside.

– A woman in the 300 block of East Sixth Street reported at 4:39 p.m. Wednesday that she and her husband were being harassed about a civil matter. She was told her options.

– A caller at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday reported juveniles shooting air soft guns in the 600 block of East Sixth Street. An officer arrived and the juveniles were shooting at targets in the back yard. They were told they’re not allowed to use air soft guns within the city and said they would put them away.

COLUMBIANA

– A man reported at 12:22 a.m. Wednesday he could hear an alarm and see a flashing light near Windrose Apartments. Shortly after, another man reported that a woman fell and needed an ambulance, and that was why the alarm was activated. EMS were called.

– A woman reported at 11 p.m. Wednesday a silver SUV was parked on North Middle Street and had been there for some time and none of her neighbors knew who it belonged to or why it was there. Police checked but could not find the owner.

LISBON

– Maria Brown called Wednesday to report her father-in-law’s trailer was struck while parked in front of her home on East Chestnut Street. Her father-in-law is Robert Brown, state Route 154, and the driver of the other vehicle was Destiny M. Stoffel, Rose Drive Apartments, who was backing out of a driveway.

– The rear door of a JMW Trucking truck came open and struck a Subway sign outside the restaurant at 1:57 p.m. Monday.

– Some juveniles were driving erratically on Garfield Street at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday and ended up going through the caller’s yard. The caller did not want anything done other than for police to speak with the juveniles, which the officer did, and the juveniles said they would apologize.

– Paul E. Meyers, 39, North Vine Street, was arrested for domestic violence at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday for allegedly pushing Angie McElroy in the chest. Meyers and the 34-year-old McElroy live together and have a child together.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Edward R. Mills, 32, 175 W. Ohio Ave., Sebring, was arrested on misdemeanor counts of criminal trespassing and theft at his home at 11:46 a.m. Tuesday following an incident at the Dollar General in Beloit Jan. 19 in which he returned items despite not being allowed at the business and was caught on video stealing a lighter.

– Eugene J. Lewis III, 24, Boardman, was charged with misdemeanor theft after turning himself in at 5:43 Wednesday in reference to the theft of two chainsaws and an angle grinder from his girlfriend’s parents home on Roller Road reported Jan. 19. Lewis admitted to stealing the items and then pawning them in Austintown.

– Seenivasu Thevan Arulraj, 30, Canton, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Goshen Township at 9:48 a.m. Thursday in which he was eastbound on state Route 14 approaching the railroad underpass west of Duck Creek Road when he lost control, struck a ditch and traveled up an embankment, striking several trees. The vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side and a flat tire. Arulraj was not injured.

– A woman reported at 8:16 a.m. Tuesday a semi with four-ways on was holding up traffic at the state Routes 7 and 14 intersection. Police checked and found the driver had help enroute.

– A man reported at 4 p.m. Tuesday there was a bag with unknown contents in the middle of the road on state Route 14. Police checked and removed the bag from the road.

– Liberty police requested at 4:11 p.m. Tuesday a message be delivered to a Canterbury Court resident.

– Police checked on a report of a suspicious man in the Firestone Farms area knocking on someone’s door at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday. Police checked but did not find the man.

SALEM

– Police were called at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of East Third Street for a well-being check and spoke with the male and female residents nearby. The man was outside with the children and all appeared fine.

– Police responded to a parking complaint at 12:33 p.m. Wednesday at Franklin and Union, but the vehicle was not found.

– An officer at 11:47 a.m. Wednesday saw a man removing cans from the recycling bins near the fire station and throwing them into a box to take. He was identified and told that was theft and he’s not allowed to remove items. He put them back and claimed a woman at city hall previously told him he could help himself.

– Part of a truck reportedly struck a pole at the southwest corner of State Street and Ellsworth Avenue at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday. There was no visible damage to the pole, but there was evidence of previous damage from trucks hitting it. Ohio Edison was to be contacted to check the pole.

– A woman contacted police at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday to report receiving a bad check from a local resident. The bad check policy was followed and the complaint forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

– A representative of a local military recruiting office in the 200 block of East State Street reported at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday that a man had been beating on the front door, threw a can on the floor inside the building and was spitting. The man was advised by police not to come back. He was told if he comes back, he’ll be facing arrest.

-Police stood by with the Columbiana County Drug Task Force after a consent to search a residence in the 500 block of Franklin was granted at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday. No contraband was found.

– Officers were advised by Perry Township police of a stuck vehicle near the railroad crossing on Allen Road at 3:22 a.m. Wednesday. The operator said his vehicle became stuck in the snow while traveling on private property. The vehicle was towed out.

– An officer responded to a parking complaint at 3:14 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of East Third Street. The operator moved the vehicle.

– A domestic between a man and a woman was reported at 1:22 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Third Street. Both were intoxicated and said the argument was over rent money with no physical violence occurring. They were told to try to get along.

– A man from Sixth Street called at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday to report a menacing comment made to him while walking in the 1900 block of East Pershing Street. He gave a description of a male who made the comment and was told to call police if he sees him again.

– Police were asked to check the well-being of an elderly female in the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday by a woman who could not reach her mother. Contact was made with the resident who said she was sick but denied multiple times wanting EMS to respond. She said she was going to the doctor in the morning.

– A domestic was reported at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of East Sixth Street involving people sitting inside a vehicle in an alley. Officers located the vehicle, but both people denied being in a dispute and said they were just talking. The male half said he was heading home for the night.

– Police responded at 12:19 a.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of East Sixth Street for a civil matter between residents. A man said other residents inside the apartment changed the locks and locked him out. Both parties were told their options.

– A caller early Wednesday requested a well-being check on a resident after receiving a text message from him. He told police he was not going to hurt himself and denied medical assistance.

– James Curtis, 72, of Continental Drive, was cited for assured clear distance after his vehicle attempted to turn left onto South Lincoln Avenue from Carbon and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Michael Poisson, 56, also of Continental Drive, at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday.

– Police were called at 5:12 p.m. Tuesday to the Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., for a person to be removed. The man had left the building and police were told he was no longer welcome. Police made contact with the man and told him not to return.

– A reckless driver was reported at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday on East State Street. An officer located the vehicle and followed for several blocks but saw no problems. A traffic stop was initiated and there was no indication of impairment.

– A resident in the 500 block of Walnut Street called at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday to report a burglary, saying he came home and found several items missing. Officers are investigating the matter.

– Bret Ahearn, 18, of Fairview Avenue, was cited for assured clear distance after the southbound vehicle he was driving on North Lincoln Avenue at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday struck the rear of a southbound vehicle driven by Patricia Dolan, 62, of Adams Avenue, shoving it into the rear of another southbound vehicle driven by Hannah Munn, 27, of Warren. Both Dolan and Munn were stopped in traffic in the 200 block.

– Tina Cochran reported her car was struck by an older model pickup in the Vista Center parking lot at 12:34 p.m. Monday. Cochran saw it happen while looking out a window.

– Marcus A. Bowersock, 25, of Columbus, was cited for running a red light at the intersection of North Market and North Park at 12:19 p.m. Tuesday.

SALEM

– A woman asked at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday about having a no trespass order served on a person. She co-owns a property on Jennings Avenue and doesn’t want a certain person on the property. She was told to call police if he shows up and officers can then tell him not to return or he could face trespass charges.

– Officers responded at 6:44 a.m. Tuesday to the 400 block of West State Street after receiving several phone calls without an answer on the other line. Contact was made with the alleged caller and it was found to be accidental.

– Officers responded to the 300 block of East Euclid Street regarding a person wanting an ambulance at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday. Officers stood by until medical personnel arrived and a person was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.

– Bethany R. Devine, 23, of 218 Fair Ave., was taken into custody at her residence at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday on a felony warrant for dangerous drugs.

– Police responded to the area of West State Street and the city limits at 10:41 p.m. Monday for a report of vehicles being operated recklessly. Officers located the vehicles in question in the 100 block and spoke with both drivers. Both said the other driver was being reckless. Officers told both drivers to drive more carefully and be on their way.

– Officers and deputies from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve several arrest warrants throughout the city. At 9:50 p.m. Monday, an officer assisted with the arrest of a wanted person in the 200 block of Fair Avenue. The arrestee was listed as Robert K. Turner of 480 Franklin St., Salem.

– Police responded at 8 p.m. Monday to the 400 block of West Pershing Street for a suspicious person. A woman said a female knocked on their door and said she had nowhere to go. Officers transported the female to the station to contact a family member to pick her up.

– A woman reported at 6:19 p.m. Monday that her medication was stolen from a residence on Sharp Street.

– An illegally parked vehicle was reported at 6:11 p.m. Monday on Penn Avenue, but no illegally parked vehicles were found.

– Police responded to Walmart at 5:03 p.m. Monday for a report of 911 hangup calls. An officer spoke to three juveniles too young to understand their actions or the consequences, then spoke to the parent who was unaware the juveniles were making such calls.

– An unruly juvenile was reported at 4:29 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Granite Avenue. An officer spoke with a woman and a 16-year-old boy who both agreed to work things out.

– A woman in the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 11:27 a.m. Monday that her husband has dementia and at some point in the morning he left their residence unannounced. She said the last time she saw him was around 10 p.m. Sunday when they went to sleep. She said he went missing Sunday and was found at Bob Evans. On Monday he was found at Walmart. Officers picked him up and returned him home.

– A man in the 500 block of East Fourth Street reported at 9:22 a.m. Monday that he had an issue with his landlord not plowing the drive, causing a problem for tenants trying to pull into the drive/parking area. He was told it’s a civil matter and to call either an attorney or the agency that helped him get the apartment.

– A female cab driver reported at 8:24 a.m. Monday that she parked in front of a residence in the 400 block of East Third Street to let out a passenger when a man in a red truck with a plow advised her to move or he was going to plow into her. She said he plowed right up to her vehicle and began to yell obscenities and threaten her. The man called in a short time later and advised he asked her to move and she yelled obscenities at him.

– Emma Leigh Foust, 18, of 1447 W. State St., was cited for failure to control, leaving the scene and driving under suspension after police discovered she had been driving a vehicle they suspected was involved in a traffic crash Saturday on North Ellsworth Avenue. An officer at 2:50 a.m. Saturday saw where a vehicle had traveled off the right side of the road over the curb and struck a street sign in the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue, then continued across the street and struck a street light and left the scene going north. In the 200 block, it appeared the vehicle went off the right side of the road into the parking lot of the Broadway Plaza, traveled east and left the lot in an unknown direction. At 3:58 a.m., officers found the vehicle in the 600 block of Vine Avenue abandoned with the lights on and with damage consistent with the accident. The owner was contacted and said she had not been driving. Another female in the apartment initially denied driving, but then admitted she was driving at the time of the accident.

– At the request of the Salem street department, officers at 8:24 p.m. Sunday responded to the deadend of Jefferson Street for removal of a vehicle. The owner was contacted and moved the vehicle. A report at 3:47 p.m. Sunday said officers working the afternoon shift had several vehicles removed from the road and told owners about the parking ban. An officer at 2:17 p.m. Sunday responded to East 10th Street to tell an owner to move a vehicle from the street and learned she was disabled. The officer moved the vehicle to the garage for her. On East Fourth Street, a vehicle found parked on the street during the parking ban at 2:55 p.m. Sunday was towed after the owner could not be located. A vehicle was also towed on Liberty Street at 3:31 p.m. Sunday after the owner could not be located. The owner of a vehicle on East Third Street moved it after being contacted at 8:39 a.m. Sunday.

– Loud music was reported at 7:50 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Franklin Street, but was not heard by police.

– Trina Austin, 31, of West 13th Street, was cited for reasonable control after police were called at 6:23 p.m. Sunday to a crash in the 300 block of Rea Drive. There were no injuries and only minor turf damage. The vehicle was towed out at the owner’s request.

– A woman in the 400 block of Sharp Street called at 4:30 p.m. Sunday to report she’s been receiving unwanted calls and messages from a person she knows. She was told her options. An officer made contact with the person reportedly sending the messages and told the person to stop.

– An alarm drop was reported at 1:56 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of East State Street. Officers checked all entry ways and found them to be secure.

– Police responded to a report at 1:06 p.m. Sunday of an elderly male walking away from his residence on South Lincoln Avenue sometime Sunday morning. Officers checked around the city for the person and found him later at a local restaurant. A family member transported him back to his residence.

– Daniel Means, 49, of North Lincoln Avenue, was cited for reasonable control after his westbound GMC Envoy struck a set of concrete steps at the rear of Randy’s Barber Shop, 192 S. Lincoln Ave., at 11:58 a.m. Sunday. The report said Means told police he braked to attempt to avoid the vehicle in front of him, causing his vehicle to travel off the right side of the road and strike the steps. Both the vehicle and the steps were damaged, but the report mentioned no injuries.

– No citation was issued after a city snow plow struck the passenger side front bumper of an eastbound Cadillac driven by Patricia McGaffick, 68, of North Broadway Avenue, at 11:09 a.m. Sunday on East State Street near Park Avenue. The plow truck driven by Don Snavely was at the intersection of Park and East State and turned onto East State Street in front of the McGaffick vehicle, striking the vehicle. Minor damage was reported to the vehicle, with no damage to the snow plow. No injuries were reported. City Service/Safety Director Ken Kenst said the damages will be handled through the city’s insurance coverage.

– Police responded to Goshen Road near Colonial Road for a vehicle in the ditch at 12:54 a.m. Monday, finding Heather Kirby, 21, of Salem, slid off the road due to the snow and rain mix and into the ditch. The vehicle was towed out of the ditch, was undamaged and driven from the scene.

– No citation was issued due to road conditions after Samuel Taylor Hillyer, 18, of Lexington Avenue, Salem, lost control of the vehicle he was driving on a snowy/slushy Cunningham Road, just north of state Route 344, while negotiating a curve, spun around and backed into a tree at 10:27 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

– Police responded at 3:05 p.m. Sunday to a vehicle stuck in a ditch on Harding Avenue, but the vehicle was removed before an officer arrived. The vehicle had been pulled out by a family member, with no damage reported.

– A township road department employee requested at 2:54 p.m. Sunday that police attempt to locate owners of vehicles parked in the road on Old Coach Lane to remove them so the road could be plowed. The vehicles were moved before police arrived.

– Police were called at 2:36 p.m. Sunday to the Blossom nursing center for a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot. Kyle Uyselt, 19, of Beloit, was plowing the parking lot and backed into an unoccupied vehicle owned by Angela Davenport, 33, of Leetonia. No citations were issued.

– Randy Smith, 51, and Tracye Smith, 46, both of 1213 Andrew Ave., were each charged with domestic violence after police were called to their residence at 12:28 a.m. Sunday for a domestic in progress. Both were taken to the Columbiana County jail pending arraignment.

– Police were called at 11:11 p.m. Sunday to the area of Carriage Hill Road and Stewart Road for a report of a cow mooing continuously for several hours. Police did not hear any cow.

– No citation was issued for a private property accident at 3:26 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the ReStore on North Ellsworth Avenue where a vehicle driven by Marcy Johnson, 53, of Salem, backed from a parking space into a vehicle driven by Patricia Roberts, 58, of Salem, who had just backed from another parking space.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on state Route 165 east of Washingtonville Road in Green Township at 6:51 a.m. Friday in which Daniel B. Reed, 27, Lisbon, was eastbound and slid off the roadway into the ditch. No injuries were reported nor citations issued.

– Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on Lisbon Road north of state Route 14 in Green Township at 11:36 p.m. Friday in which Paige M. Kocher, 16, Canfield, was southbound and spun out, coming to rest in the northbound ditch. No injuries were reported nor citations were issued.

– Melissa A. White, 50, 12205 Goshen Road 67, Salem, was arrested at her home on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for fraudulent checks at 7:07 p.m. Saturday.

– Cyrel A. Newcome, 19, 1386 Johnson Ave., Salem, was cited for failure to control following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 10:40 p.m. Sunday in which he was southbound in the 9000 block of U.S. Route 62 and spun into the northbound lane, striking a northbound vehicle driven by Ralph C. Wolford Jr., 64, Richfield. Newcome was treated for possible injuries by Green Township EMS, while Wolford was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

– Christopher M. McGee, 28, 2059 Monroe St., Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Goshen Township at 1:15 a.m. Monday in which he was eastbound on U.S. Route 62 approaching Duck Creek Road when he lost control and traveled off the north side of the roadway, striking a sign and telephone pole. No injuries were reported.

COLUMBIANA

– A man reported at noon Sunday a van was parked overnight at the M&S Truck Stop and hadn’t moved but was running. Police checked on the vehicle and found the driver was taking a nap.

– A man reported at 1 p.m. Sunday there was a reckless driver westbound on state Route 14 that was passing on the double yellow lines coming into the city. Police checked the area but could not find the vehicle.

– A man reported at 8:37 p.m. Sunday he detected alcohol on the breath of someone driving northbound on North Main Street.

– James Russell, Court Street, reported an Internet scam at 11:44 a.m. Saturday.

– Bobbi Jo Thomas, address not listed, reported at 1:21 p.m. Saturday her 14-year-old daughter was being unruly and wouldn’t get into the car and was walking by the library. The girl ended up walking to the police station and met her mother and then returned home with her.

– A man reported at 2:16 p.m. Saturday there was a truck parked at an abandoned home on West Southern Avenue. Police checked and found it was the owner there doing some work.

– Brenda Carder, South Elm Street, reported seeing a suspicious truck on the street at 5:46 p.m. Saturday.

– Police requested the street department salt the roads at 1:39 a.m. Friday.

– The street department reported at 2:50 a.m. Friday a vehicle was parked in the street on North West Street near West Park. Police found multiple vehicles there and issued citations for overnight parking.

– Jamie Sandine, address not listed, reported at 12:29 p.m. Friday the temporary tag on her vehicle was missing.

– Shirley Mellinger, Quincy Avenue, reported at 2:11 p.m. Friday someone was possibly entering her apartment. Police checked and found there were no problems.

– A North Main Street woman reported at 2:23 p.m. Friday she could hear yelling coming from a nearby apartment. Police went to the home stood by while Deborah Bianco moved out. Bianco had reportedly been arguing with James Cairns.

– Kathleen Richter, Oak Court, reported receiving threatening phone calls from scammers at 3:23 p.m. Friday.

– Andrew Kaltenbach, address not listed, was driving on East Park Avenue near state Route 14 at 3:278 p.m. Friday and lost control on ice and slid off the road. No citations were issued.

– Katherine Chapman, Parkview Drive, reported at 9:58 p.m. Friday her vehicle was struck by another vehicle while parked on South Elm.

LISBON

– Buffy Malone, North Jefferson Street, reported Saturday the tires on her boyfriend’s car were slashed overnight.

– The security alarm went off at the post office at 4:46 p.m. Saturday, and police arrived to find a private carrier picking up shipments at the loading dock. A post office official was contacted and she confirmed the story.

Center Township police requested backup while a breathalyzer test was administered on a motorist following a traffic stop on Saltwell Road at 5:17 p.m. Saturday.

– Kara J. Kundravi, Lodge Road, Leetonia, reported her vehicle was struck by an unknown motorist while parked at the Rite Aid on Saturday afternoon.

– Erin Lake, West Maple Street, reported Thursday a man in a Cleveland Browns bomber hat came to her door selling steaks and asking if she was on government assistance. Lake told him she was not interested and then he asked to come inside, only to be told again she was not interested. On Saturday, Dustin Blair, who lives at the same address, said he was approached by two men selling steaks from a truck with a cooler. The truck had Iowa license plates and the words “Iowa Steaks” on the side. The couple was told to call back should they see the man again.

– Smith Oil reported a motorist drove off without paying for $15 in gasoline at 4 p.m. Sunday. The man was in his 60s and driving a Trail Blazer.

– Jack Black, 56, was charged with public intoxication/disorderly conduct after Melissa Abbott reported he was bothering her while they were both at the downtown laundromat at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Black was found sitting in a pickup truck in the parking lot and he said all he was doing was talking to Abbott, who he invited to a Super Bowl party. Abbott said Black was talking to her about heaven and hell and insisted she let him take her home because of the weather. About that time, Abbott said her friend, Robert Tinney, walked in the laundromat, which is when Black went to his truck and they called police. Black admitted having consumed a couple of beers and was charged.

– Mary Solano called at 6:32 p.m. Friday with concerns some dogs staying outside in a dog house at a home on East Lincoln Way. Police spoke with the owner, who said the dogs had straw in their boxes, heated water dishes and food.

POLICE REPORTS

Salem reports

– Police responded to the 100 block of Railroad Street at 1:29 a.m. Sunday for a fight in progress where a woman was injured. First responders and an ambulance were called and she was taken to the hospital. Police spoke to the people involved and all said they would provide statements that will be forwarded to the county prosecutor.

– Police were preparing to clear the fight report in the 100 block of Railroad Street at 2:25 a.m. Sunday when officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and checked the parking lot. A man and woman were in a vehicle and Edward F.L. Pittman of Salem was found to have five burnt marijuana cigarettes in his possession. Police found an outstanding warrant for failure to appear and he was charged with a minor misdemeanor possession of marijuana and take to the county jail on the outstanding warrant.

– Police responded to the 1100 block of Short Avenue at 11:49 p.m. Saturday for a report of a prowler and were unable to locate anyone.

– At 11:57 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2900 block of E. State Street where a car struck a deer outside the city. It was put down by police.

– At 10:07 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of W. 5th Street for a well-being check and spoke to a resident and everything was OK.

– Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State Street at 8:19 p.m. Saturday and charged Alisa A. Graff, 39130 Grant St., Lisbon, with theft after she shoplifted $85.64 in merchandise from the store. She was taken to the county jail.

– At 7:48 p.m. Saturday, police received a call from a resident in the 400 block of Continental Drive regarding his estranged wife. He was advised of the options.

– At 7:32 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1300 block of S. Lincoln Avenue for a natural death and stood by until the coroner’s investigator arrived.

– At 5:25 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of Hawley Avenue where the complainant said several items were taken from the garage. The incident is under investigation.

– At 4:57 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the area of N. Lincoln Avenue and E. 4th Street for a report of an intoxicated drive and were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

– At 4:36 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2300 block of E. State Street for a report of an intoxicated driver and located the person in question and they were not operating a vehicle.

– Police responded to the 500 block of Washington Avenue at 8:34 a.m. Sunday and advised the owner to move the vehicle off the street because of the parking ban to due to snow. Vehicles were towed at 8:43 a.m. from a residence on S. Union Avenue; at 8:56 a.m. from the 500 block of Columbia Street, the 500 block of Aetna Street; the 600 block of Fair Avenue; at 9:22 a.m. from the 100 block of E. 4th Street; from Vine Avenue between E. 5th and 6th streets; and at 1:36 p.m. from the 300 block of S. Broadway Avenue. Officers had many vehicles towed on the north side of town.

Salem reports

– Police responded to the 100 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue at 12:21 a.m. for a fight in progress and observed a man being physically restrained yelling at another across the bar. Patrons tried to calm him down and remove him and he pulled away from officers, lunging at the other person. Stephen T. Manypenny, 1531 Egypt Road, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and taken to the county jail after he and the other person refused medical transport and pressing charges against each other.

– Police responded to the 100 block of Railroad Street for a report of a fight at 1:08 a.m. Saturday and were unable to locate anything.

– Police traced a vehicle that was involved in and accident on the 100 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue and the 200 block of E. Second Street to 646 Vine Avenue #2 at 12:31 a.m. Sunday. The owner denied driving and another person, after initially denying driving, admitted to it. Emma Foust, 1447 W. State St., was charged with failure to control, leaving the scene and driving under suspension and was charged with underage consumption at the residence and was taken to the county jail. The vehicle’s owner, Leah Minamyer, 646 Vine Avenue, was charged with misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.

– At 11:57 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1000 block of E. 9th Street to assist another agency transport a person to the hospital for evaluation.

– Police responded to the 900 block of E. State Street for a report of an irate person who was gone when police arrived. The complainant advised the person got out of a dark green Cherokee but police were unable to locate it. The person yelled at the complaint saying he almost struck her vehicle and her husband got out and was yelling and making threats too.

– Joshua R. Monday, 536 Walnut Street, D, was taken into custody at 1:47 p.m. Saturday on and outstanding warrant from Columbiana County.
