SHERIFF’S OFFICE

– A Teegarden Road, Salem, woman reported at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday she drives past a home on North Price Road in Butler Township on a regular basis and every time she drives by around 9 a.m. there is an older man sitting on the porch exposing himself. The woman said the man sits with his robe open and his legs spread apart and at least once she believes she saw him gratifying himself.

– Deputies went to a Brookfield Avenue home at 10:43 a.m. Thursday to attempt to serve a warrant on Amanda McCarty. McCarty’s mother, who lives next door, saw deputies and told them she should be inside. Deputies knocked several times without anyone answering, but did hear a small child through the open window next to the door. Deputies yelled for McCarty through the window and Derek Johnson opened the door. Johnson claimed he and McCarty argued and she left two days earlier to stay at her girlfriend’s house. Deputies checked the house and found McCarty hiding in the dark foyer behind a closed door in the southwest corner of the apartment. Johnson was charged with falsification. McCarty was taken into custody on the warrant. McCarty’s mother was allowed to take the child.

– Steve Hendricks, Spillway Road, Hanoverton, reported at 4:57 a.m. Thursday someone shot twice, 10 minutes apart. He believed the shots were north of his home, in the wooded area between the trailer court and the dam. Deputies checked the area.

– Roy Stewart, Depot Street, Rogers, reported at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday he was at his camper on McGeehan Road to clean up some vandalism from the other day, when some neighbor children began being verbally abusive toward him and threatening that one of their uncles was en route to beat him up. The children live on McGeehan Road, and he believes one of them may have had a machete.

-A domestic dispute was reported at the home of Jennifer Flowers and Justin Miller, state Route 7, Lisbon, at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday. Miller told deputies he just wants to leave, but Flowers follows him around. They have been together five years and lately not getting along. Flowers told deputies Miller has been accusing her of something, but not telling her where he gets his information. She claims she wants nothing to do with him. She was leaving for a doctor’s appointment when deputies left.

– Ashley Prather, Scott Drive, Alliance, reported at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday she recently moved out and her ex-boyfriend has managed to find out where she lives. He is now driving by the house and honking his horn. She wanted to pursue criminal charges, but deputies explained it is not illegal to drive on a public road and to keep him away she would need to file for a protection order.

– Michelle Wostal, Victoria, Texas, a Fed-Ex employee, reported at 7:53 p.m. Tuesday she was concerned after learning her work partner has drugs in the vehicle at the KOA Campgrounds on Winona Road, Salem. Wostal told deputies that Alen Cowles, San Antonio, Texas, told her he had marijuana cookies in the refrigerator and LSD in a Lysol container. Deputies got both Wostal and Cowles to sign a consent to search the truck. Two suspected marijuana cookies were found and suspected LSD was found in a Lysol container. K-9 Jesy did alert to the vehicle. All the items were collected for testing and the matter has been turned over to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force.

– Rhonda L. Kloos, Stookesberry Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday she believes her son has a drug problem and he has taken multiple items from their home and pawned them, including the television and stereo. When questioned by his parents, the son reportedly admitted to pawning them and gave his parents the pawn shop receipts for the stolen items. He took them to Prestige Pawn in Chester, W.Va. Charges are pending for Joseph M. Kloos, 26, Stookesberry Road, Lisbon.

– Ron Venezia of Venezia Auto Sales, state Route 14, East Palestine, reported at 11:33 a.m. Tuesday Theodore Yeagley came to the car lot on July 13 and purchased a 2006 Ford F-150 for $4,200. Yeagley told Venezia he had $3,650 in his checking account and would bring the rest of the money, $550, when he picked up the title. Yeagley was allowed to take the vehicle, but never provided the rest of the money and Venezia has attempted to contact him several times, but he is not answering the phone or the door.

-Kevin Maxey, Clarkson Road, Rogers, reported at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday his girlfriend Monica Eitniear called him and said she was being followed by Brian Cappelli and he was trying to strike the vehicle she was driving with his vehicle. She then pulled into Maxey’s driveway with Cappelli right behind her. Maxey went outside to see what the problem was and Cappelli reportedly pushed him, grabbed him and punched him in the face. Maxey then chased Cappelli back to his truck and he fled. Charges are pending.

– Diana Nordquest, Shelton Road, Salem, reported at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday someone ransacked her bedroom, taking miscellaneous jewelry and $50. There were no signs of forced entry and all the doors and windows were locked.

– Shelda Keefer, Hibbetts Mill Road, Wellsville, reported at 5:22 p.m. Tuesday she was assaulted by her sister, Clara Allgood, at the intersection of Fife Coal and Osbourne roads. Keefer told deputies she had a bump over her left eye, but she still loved her sister and did not want to pursue charges. The bump appeared to be a few days old.

– Sherman Johnson, Eagleton Road, Lisbon, reported at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday someone took his Roadmaster 18-speed bicycle from his unlocked garage overnight. Johnson said it had a cable attached for a speedometer, which was inside the house. The bike was described as blue with a silver rod where the handle bars attach and having less than 100 miles on it.

– Crystal Thompson, state Route 518, Lisbon, reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday she is a STNA and was hired by a man to care for his father. However, Thompson’s ex-boyfriend is the brother of the man who hired her and he lives with the father, too. Thompson said the ex-boyfriend yelled and accused her on Tuesday morning of putting water in his gas tank, which she denies. She left so that the father would not hear him yelling at her and she said the ex-boyfriend yells at the father all the time also.

– Joe Chitwood, Mill Rock Road, Rogers, reported suspicious people were dropped off in the area at 3 a.m. Monday. Deputies checked the area, but did not find anyone.

– A Leetonia area woman reported at 1:25 a.m. Monday she received a phone call from a woman, who seemed to be in distress and only said, “He was not supposed to drink tonight.” Dispatchers called several phone companies and were able to learn the approximate location of the phone. Beaver Township police were contacted and asked to check at the home on everyone there. The phone was owned by Richard Wagner Jr., West Garfield Road, Columbiana.

– Joseph Dickson, Malone Road, Salineville, reported at 11:36 a.m. Monday that while checking his bank statements on Thursday he noticed a utility charge for $183 from a company in the city of Killeen, Texas. He then found more charges, one for $232 from Expedia in Nevada and $33 at a Pizza Hut in Texas.

– Linda Simmons, Bolivar Road, Wellsville, reported at 11:41 a.m. Monday her mailbox was ripped off the post and taken. She believed it may have been taken out by the neighbor’s farm equipment, judging by the tire tracks. She then found the mailbox laying on the ground next to the post.

– Cynthia Leon, state Route 558, Leetonia, reported at 12:09 p.m. Monday she received a call from Payday Loans about an online loan for $1,833. Leon told deputies she does not have an online loan and someone used her Social Security number and date of birth to get the loan.

– Randy Clark, the pastor of Union Ridge Church, Rogers, reported at 10:34 a.m. Friday someone broke in overnight and took a five-gallon jug of money children of the church had been collecting to help other children. Deputies saw a window on the west side of the sanctuary broken out. The jug is believed to have contained about $500. It has been covered by a maroon colored cloth, which was also stolen.

– Richard Beard of AT&T reported at 4:09 p.m. Sunday someone stole 450 feet of copper cable from a telephone pole on Old Irondale Road in Yellow Creek Township. The cost to replace the line is about $3,000.

– Lynette Denning, McCormick Run Road, Wellsville, reported at 6:59 p.m. Sunday her son left his dirt bike at her home and went to work. When she came home she found the bike missing.

– While on patrol at 9:56 p.m. Sunday, deputies entered the property of the Columbiana County Airport and saw a man in a gray sweatshirt and docker-style pants running across the driveway, up a hill and into a thick patch of underbrush. The man was chased down and identified as Devin Oliver of Virginia Beach, Va. He told deputies he was there playing ball with some of his friends and ran when he saw the police cruiser. Deputies found no damage to the property and reminded Oliver and his friends to stay off the property.

– Annette Ice, Echo Dell Road, Calcutta, reported at 12:55 p.m. Sunday she had been at the Y-Inn in Rogers on Thursday and ran into some friends of a past boyfriend. A girl with one of those friends, Kristen Presley, reportedly threatened to beat up Ice and then Presley and Ross Betts were both asked to leave the bar. One of Ice’s friends said he saw Presley kicking the side of Ice’s car in the parking lot.

– Kristin McNicholas, Timber Run Street, New Waterford, reported at 10:15 p.m. Saturday she received a threatening and obnoxious call from someone claiming she had hit their car and they would find her. McNicholas said her friend got the same phone call and someone messed with her friend’s Internet. Deputies called the number, which rang for a long while and then a woman’s voice answered stating they had reached Uptown Talk.

– Sabrina Miesha, Rose Drive, Lisbon, reported at 10:27 p.m. Saturday someone was looking through her window, then began pounding on the door and calling her a derogatory name. The prowler was gone before deputies arrived.

– Dorothy Hahn, Georgetown Road, Homeworth, reported a loud explosion at 8:16 p.m. Saturday. Deputies spoke to multiple people in the neighborhood, who also heard it, but no one could say where it came from.

– Sue Bachman of Paradise Lake, Rochester Road, East Rochester, reported at 7:43 p.m. Saturday a camper was attempting to take a picnic table, which had been placed at the campsite by management. Deputies spoke to Peter Medved, Imperial, Pa., who claimed his grandfather made the table and it belonged to him. Deputies told him if he does not have proof of ownership and due to the campground having multiple picnic tables the same, he would have to leave it there and file a lawsuit to get the picnic table. Medved removed the picnic table from his trailer.

– Jerry Hoon, Highland Avenue, Rogers, reported at 3:01 p.m. Sunday someone was taking items out of the building at Rogers Elementary. Deputies found Gerald Wiseman, a school employee, who said he had permission to remove some toilets from the building.

– George Blitgood, Kurtz Road, Minerva, reported at 11:55 a.m. Sunday he is being harassed by a man he knows on Bayard Road, who has been calling him day and night.

– Arnold Dickey, Walnut Ridge, Salineville, reported at 11:30 a.m. Sunday his home was vandalized by someone while they were away between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday. When they returned they found a panel on the garage door had been damaged by someone kicking it.

– Robin Dubbert, Vittle Village, East Palestine, reported at 11:38 a.m. Sunday the store was robbed. The suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle eastbound on state Route 14. The matter is under investigation.

– Tracie Badger, Rose Drive, Lisbon, reported at 10:34 p.m. Sunday her 17-year-old son came home with an older woman. Badger told her to leave and it sparked an argument. The son got angry and punched his mother in the left side of the head before punching a hole in the wall. Next the boy threw something and struck Badger’s boyfriend, Larry Blakeley. Then the boy smashed a lamp. During his fit of rage, the boy cut his hand and an ambulance was called. The boy claimed Blakeley pushed him and denied hitting his mother. A report will be forwarded to juvenile court.

– Albert Beal, Yeager Drive, Wellsville, reported at 7:06 p.m. Monday he went to his bedroom and took a nap at about 2 p.m. When he awoke he found someone had come into the unlocked house and stolen his wife’s digital notebook. A short time later, Beal reported the notebook had been returned.

– Sara Ruble, Lakefront Drive, Beloit, reported at 4:18 p.m. Monday there was a child custody dispute. Her son’s grandfather picked up her 15-year-old son to take him to the Tri-County Four-Wheel Drive Club on state Route 154, but she later received a text from her son letting her know he was with his father and he would be home Tuesday. Ruble said her ex-husband only has supervised visitation rights and she did not know where he lives.

– Denise Muniz, Main Street, Leetonia, asked deputies at 5:40 p.m. Monday to check on Josephine Whinery, Teegarden Road, Lisbon, who was not answering her phone. Deputies found Whinery’s vehicle was not in the garage. While they were there, deputies learned the family had found her.

– Roy Stewart, Depot Road, Rogers, reported at 3:12 p.m. Monday he owns a small, old trailer sitting on a property on McGeehan Road. Someone egged his trailer and threw stones leaving small dents.

– Deputy Brandon Hoppel found a window broken in the back of the former Rogers Elementary School at 5:10 a.m. Monday. Deputies checked the interior of the building, but found no one inside.

– Ben Ackerman, Metz Road, Columbiana, reported at 9:52 a.m. Thursday a neighbor’s dog had been barking at his bedroom window. Deputies spoke with the neighbor, Brian Schaffer, who said he would attempt to keep the dog quiet.

– Jim Elliot, Echo Dell Road, Rogers, reported at 8:24 a.m. Friday the neighbor’s children were on his property that morning after coming through a hole in the fence. Elliot was concerned about the possibility of his dog biting the children or the children falling into his pool. Deputies spoke to the children’s mother and grandmother, who said the girls went there because Elliot had some kittens they wanted to see. The girls, ages 5 and 7, said the would not return to Elliot’s property.

– A fight was reported near Campbell Grocery in the area of Guy Road in Madison Township at 3:54 p.m. Saturday. Deputies found no one there, but then a fight was reported in the area of Brookfield Avenue. Michael Reynolds told deputies he and Charles Slocum were on Guy Road driving when Slocum’s brothers cut him off, making Reynolds stop the vehicle. Joshua Slocum then reportedly took the keys from Reynolds’ ignition and they began to take Charles Slocum from the car. A fight began until Charles Slocum was able to get back into the vehicle. Reynolds took off driving, but Joshua Slocum was holding onto the car door and it was taken off the hinges. Neither Reynolds nor Charles Slocum wished to pursue charges.

– Roy Moffit Jr., Union Ridge Road, Negley, reported at 7:46 a.m. Sunday his wife’s Playstation and a game were at his father’s house on Saturday and he believed his son, Roy Moffit III, stole it. Moffit Jr. told a deputy that his daughter Helen saw his son put a bag in a car that last night, but she did not know what was inside the bag. Moffit Jr. also told police his son was letting him use a maroon 2000 Oldsmobile Alero that is in his son’s name.

– Tim Greenawalt, Hartley Road, reported an attempted breaking and entering at 2 p.m. Sunday. Greenawalt said he had just returned home from being away for the weekend and noticed his back window was broken and pushed in and noticed what appeared to be dried blood on the blinds and a piece of plastic on the table.

– A deputy was called to the Barnett Motel on Route 62 in Butler Township at 12:50 p.m. Sunday for a man who was sleeping in the yard surrounded by alcohol beverages. EMS also responded and determined the man, identified as Gary Kosch, needed to be taken to a hospital due to the amount of alcohol consumed and from lying outside in the heat. He was taken to SRMC.

– A deputy was called to the SRMC emergency room at 10:34 a.m. Sunday for a golf cart accident that occurred at Buck Run Golf Course. John Sarchone reported that he and Dan Wise were in the golf cart and Sarchone was driving and began to notice the brakes appeared to be stuck and the golf cart began sliding and once the cart hit the pavement it flipped and ejected Wise and then landed on Sarchone, causing a dislocated shoulder and several fractures. Sarchone was then transported to Mercy Hospital in Canton.

– Danielle Bowers, 46423 Walnut St., Rogers, reported to a deputy that she received harassing text messages from a New York phone number stating that the harasser knew where she lived and what kind of car she drives. Bowers texted back to try to find out who the harasser was, but was unsuccessful. She has subsequently changed her phone number.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE

– Dalton Simko, Metz Road, Columbiana, reported at 6:17 p.m. Wednesday he has been living with his grandfather, but on Tuesday night his grandfather threw him out. Simko said his grandfather made him turn over the keys to his 2005 Ford pickup to him, but he has found a new place to live and needs the pickup to get to work. The grandfather, Harry Simko Jr., told deputies his grandson was not thrown out, but the grandson’s father did ask the grandfather to take the keys. Because the grandson’s name is on the title, deputies told the grandfather he is entitled to the keys to his truck. Deputies gave Dalton the keys.

– Steve Davis at the Rogers Group Home reported at 12:43 p.m. Thursday one of the boys staying there on Wednesday night became irate and hit the window in the main door, shattering the glass. Tri-State Glass charged $115 to make the repairs.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE

– Russell Kiko, Winona Road, Salem, reported at 8 a.m. Tuesday an abandoned truck parked on an oil well road on a property Kiko Auctions is selling off McCann Road in Butler Township. Deputies spoke to Kevin Zimmerly, who said he gave the truck to his son, who lives on state Route 644, so he could sell it for parts because it was not functional. Zimmerly believed his license plates should have no longer been on it.

– Larissa Giles, Boliver Road, Wellsville, reported at 9:06 a.m. Thursday she paid Andrew Johnson $30 to cut her grass and trim the weeds. On Thursday he was at her home when she told him he needed to get those weeds trimmed and reminded him she had already paid him for the work. Giles said he grabbed some things off her table and ran. She chased him for about a mile on foot, then went and got his car to chase him. She was uncertain what he took from the table if anything belonging to her or just his own phone. Deputies explained she should stop following him and if he only did half the work, she should take him to small claims court.

-Martha Leake, Applegate Road, Lisbon, reported at 10:07 a.m. Thursday someone accessed her Home Savings and Loan checking account, taking $20 on Wednesday. Leake called the company Grace American Artwork, where she spoke with a belligerent person who claimed he has been in contact with the FBI about this problem for the past one and a half years.

– Marlena Bowersock, School Street, East Rochester, reported at 10:28 p.m. Wednesday she returned home to find the front screen door locked open and the interior door standing open. All the lights were off and she was unsure if someone was inside or not. Deputies checked the home, but found no one inside. A neighbor said he saw a man with longer blonde hair running from that home about 10 minutes before deputies arrived. Deputies checked the area, but did not find him. Bowersock did not find anything out of place or missing inside.

– Gary Smith of OTIS Co., state Route 14, Unity, reported at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday a Polaris Ranger side by side ATV was taken over the weekend, along with the trailer it was sitting on. The trailer belongs to United Rental in Columbiana.

– Royce Nutter, Georgetown Road, Homeworth, reported at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday someone knocked five mailboxes over sometime overnight. Some were thrown into the middle of Nutter’s yard and some gray plastic pieces were strewn about with the mailbox debris. Deputies checked with the Highway Patrol, but neither agency was called about an automobile accident in that area.

– A burglary was reported at the home of Brent Cunningham, Mick Road, Wellsville, sometime between Sunday and Tuesday afternoon. Deputies and two St. Clair Township police investigated at 7:23 p.m. Tuesday. It appeared someone entered an unattached pole building and took a Craftsman 22 horsepower riding mower. Additionally, the backdoor of the home was kicked open, damaging the doorjam and deadbolt system. Someone ransacked a closet, an upstairs bedroom, cupboards and drawers. A Poulan rototiller was taken.

– A domestic dispute was reported at a home on Y and O Road, East Liverpool at 8:44 p.m. Tuesday. A 17-year-old daughter was taken to the Tobin Center after allegedly assaulting her mother. An ambulance was called for the mother, who was short of breath.

– Courtney Norris, Water Street, Salineville, reported a suspicious vehicle and person in the area at 3:31 a.m. July 17. Deputies checked the area, but found no one out.

– Jeff Smith, Rock Camp Road, East Liverpool, reported at 12:18 a.m. July 17 he saw headlights on the hill south of Torma Road and could hear yelling. Deputies checked the area, checking the gates at the old landfill, up the dead end of Torma, and on both Hammonds School and state Route 45, but did not find anyone before fog started setting in.

-Robert Chamberlain, Elkton West Point Road, Lisbon, reported at 10 a.m. July 15 someone stole items from the property where there is a vacant home. Someone entered the barn at the property, taking a portable air compressor and a five gallon plastic bucket containing a large assortment of large sockets, wrenches and other tools. Additionally, the person took a chainsaw from a three-sided building behind the home.

– Beaver Township police reported at 2:12 p.m. Tuesday someone called to report a young child riding a bicycle in the middle of state Route 165. The police officer had found a 9-year-old boy in the process of riding from his home on Hadley Road, East Palestine, to see his father at work in Youngstown. Beaver Township police called the father to pick up his son. Deputies filed a report with children services.

– Jeff Manning, Walnut Street, Damascus, reported at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday the neighbor’s dog constantly barks and when he attempts to contact the neighbor about it he refuses to speak to him. Deputies spoke to Zachary Coker about the township ordinance regarding dogs and informed him the next time he would be cited.

– Elaine Kotchera, Fox Den Drive, Salem, reported a shooting in the area at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies and Perry Township police both responded and found someone was letting off fireworks in the area.

– Joan Thomas, Speidel Road, East Rochester, reported at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday she found a boy sitting beside her garage and acting suspicious. He had told Thomas he was just cooling off and then walked away. Deputies checked the area, but did not find him.

– Deeanna Yeagley, Homeworth Road, Homeworth, reported at 4:33 a.m. Tuesday she heard people talking outside her home and looked out to see the passenger door on her vehicle was open. Deputies checked the area, but did not find anyone.

– A motorcycle accident was reported at 5:41 a.m. Monday on state Route 7 just south of Clarkson Road. Deputies spoke to Richard Smith of Poland, who said he slid on loose gravel on the side of the road while he was traveling southbound on state Route 7. He slid about 15 feet after losing control. He was cited with failure to control.

– Aaran Smith, Winona Road, Salem, reported at 5:13 p.m. Monday her husband, Justin Smith, jumped out of bed screaming at her, choked her, slapped her and slammed her against the wall. She left with the children after calling 911. He was found in the bedroom acting like he was sleeping and was charged with domestic violence.

– Rebecca Henderson, Sprucevale Road, Lisbon, reported at 5:26 p.m. Sunday someone stole her brother’s ATV from her house. Daniel Henderson told deputies it was a 1999 Polaris 500 Sportsman ATV four by four, green and with a front rack but no back rack.

– A Rose Drive woman reported at 5:32 p.m. Sunday her 17-year-old son leaves for days to stay with friends and when he does come home he calls her names and threatens other family members. Deputies explained to the boy that until he turns 18 he needs to listen to his mother and do what she says.

– Deputies went to a Darner Road home at 9:37 p.m. Sunday after hearing a man took pills and had a gun. However, when they arrived deputies were told the man they were looking for had moved and the new residents do not know where he went. Deputies checked the area, but could not find him. Later the man called deputies to say he was OK and his grandmother was over-reacting.

– Deputies went to a state Route 14 home in Unity after a woman’s sister called at 12:05 a.m. Monday from out of the area asking deputies to check on her. The woman wanted to go to Pennsylvania to see her mother and had a ride coming. She denied any plans to harm herself.

– Thomas Price, Lisa Lane, Lisbon, reported a red Jeep, which appeared to be struck in the mud for sometime, in the woods or swampy area at the end of the road at 10:51 a.m. Monday. The vehicle registration gave deputies the name Jarrod Chestnut, while the VIN said it belonged to Justin Crowl. Deputies spoke to Cheyenne and Jarrod Chestnut, who said the Jeep belongs to Crowl. They were told the vehicle should be removed.

– Stacey Mills, Sprucevale Road, Rogers, reported at 1:11 p.m. Monday there was a suspicious older model green car in the area and a man with facial hair snooping around the pole barn on her property. Deputies did not find anyone matching the description in the area.

– Diana Peruchetti, Lisbon Road, Leetonia, reported at 2:31 p.m. Monday she parked her GMC Terrain in the lot at Campbell’s Grocery in Madison Township. Another customer, Bernice Monter, backed from a parking spot in her Chrysler 200 and struck Peruchetti’s vehicle. Monter’s vehicle had damage while Peruchetti’s did not.

– Constance Richardson, Bayard Road, Homeworth, reported prowlers at the house at 10:37 p.m. Sunday. Someone rattled the back door knob, then ran and jumped over the fence. Her boyfriend, Robert McLaughlin, said he took a shot at them and he hoped they were lying dead in the field. He continued if they are dead, he would not call deputies, he would just bury the bodies. He was also angry it took deputies so long to respond. Deputies told McLaughlin if he kills someone for rattling the door knob and not even entering the house, he would be the one in trouble. McLaughlin reportedly said he did not care and if he calls 911 it should take precedence over any other call deputies are already handling. No bodies were found.

– Dean Shotwell, Lowmiller Road, Minerva, reported at 5:51 a.m. Monday he had been receiving harassing phone calls from a restricted number and all he hears when he answers is a bunch of grunting. Shotwell said he received at least 50 calls on Sunday alone.

– Amanda Kackert, Canal Street, Hanoverton, reported at 12:08 a.m. Sunday she recently ended her relationship with Daniel Duncan, but he showed up at the home where she has been staying and they argued. Kackert said she got into her car and he grabbed the keys from her hand before ripping her from the vehicle. He got into the driver’s seat. She held onto the vehicle and he began to drive away. She had a scrape where he reportedly had been dragging her a short distance. She then began to yell at him to bring the vehicle back. A neighbor verified her story.

– A burglary was reported in progress at a Fairfield School Road address at 2:16 a.m. Sunday. When deputies arrived Steven Byers was yelling that his brother, who just ran into the woods, had been kicking in his front door. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to find him. Octavia Coppock, who lives with Steven Byers, said Thomas Byers was intoxicated and began to argue and fight with Steven Byers. When they had enough, they locked Thomas Byers out of the trailer to end the confrontation. Thomas Byers then reportedly kicked the door until the door frame broke.

– A jail employee reported at 10:33 a.m. Sunday a woman was being harassed in the parking lot of the jail by a man. Deputies spoke to Alissa Frampton, who said she dated Mike Gargano for a while and it was an abusive relationship. She showed deputies bruises and cuts, but claimed they all happened in East Liverpool and none happened in the jail lot.

– A deputy was advised Sunday a woman was being harassed by a man in the jail parking lot. Alissa Frampton, Cleveland Avenue, East Liverpool, told the deputy she had dated the man in an abusive relationship, showing him bruises and cuts she said were from altercations with him. She was referred to the East Liverpool Police Department since the incidents reportedly occurred in the city. No threats or violence took place in the jail lot, according to reports.

– A caller reported Saturday afternoon a confused elderly woman walking in the roadway on Valley Road in Butler Township, and had been taken into the Methodist Church there. Nurses from the Auburn Nursing Home had come and picked up the woman, and deputies went to the facility, where employees advised she had walked away. The bracelet she was wearing was not working, according to reports.

– Deputies responded Saturday evening to the beach area of Guilford Lake after a caller reported seeing a confused man walking there. Deputies found him with the caller’s husband and learned he was from Canton. While deputies were speaking with the man, his mother arrived and said he has a brain injury and that he had walked away from the beach area.

– A Fairfield School Road, Columbiana mother reported Sunday her 16-year-old son was with his father for weekend visitation and the father called for her to come and get him. The teenager told his mother his father said he was worthless and to go home. She wanted a report on file noting she hadn’t refused his father visitation.

– Jeremy Shafer, Hanselman Road, Homeworth, reported Sunday he was hit in the head with a baseball bat by a person he knows while he was sitting on his father’s motorcycle at the old Chevy garage in Homeworth. The man’s son then began punching Shafer in the face, he reported. The 2007 Harley-Davidson Streetglide owned by his father was damaged in the assault. The incident is under investigation.

– Elizabeth Richards, Seigler Road, Salineville, reported Sunday her dog had been taken from her property two weeks ago and she offered a reward on her Facebook page, after which someone told her Daniel Seeves had the dog. She spoke with Seeves, who said he found the dog and wasn’t returning it. Deputies spoke with Seeves, who said he had checked with the courthouse and found the dog was not registered and also spoke with Lisbon police, who he said told him he did not have to return the dog. The deputy advised Seeves he will speak with the prosecutor and most likely file a theft charge against him since he knows who owns the dog. The deputy also spoke with a Lisbon police officer, who said she had advised Seeves if he knows the dog’s owner, he must give it back. Seeves contacted the sheriff’s department to complain about the deputy coming to the residence and accusing him of theft, according to reports.

– Christine Iden, McCann Road, Salem, reported Sunday her Dish Network dish was damaged, with dents and parts missing.

– Theodore Kelly, North Shore Drive, Homeworth, reported Sunday his neighbor was complaining that he went on her property to repair a hole in his fence to keep his dogs from going through. Deputies reported there has been an on-going property dispute between the two neighbors, and the other neighbor, Elizabeth Conrad, is awaiting paperwork from a survey.

– Jeremy Downs, McCann Road, Kensington, reported a domestic dispute at 8:09 a.m. Wednesday. A 17-year-old girl reported her ex-boyfriend kicked in the bathroom door, pulled her from the shower and then outside, where he allegedly assaulted her. Dustin Wright, Berry Road, Kensington, was charged with criminal trespassing and assault.

– Taylor Jarvis, Bandy Road, Alliance, reported at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday she was online looking for employment opportunities and found a position for Greensburg and Bath in Los Angeles. Someone there told her they would send her a check for $2,850 to help her get started, but she needed to send $750 by Western Union and $1,500 by Money Gram to get her accounts set up. She sent the money and then learned it was a scam. She called the firm in Los Angeles and learned their account had been hacked. The Money Gram had not been processed and she was able to get it credited to her, but she is out the money from Western Union.

– Kris Smith, Misty Morning Lane, Beloit, reported at 9:03 a.m. Sunday someone took his mailbox and post from the ground. The post had been mounted in two sacks of cement. A stop sign on Case Road was also taken.

– Tracey Cook, Maple Street, Minerva, reported a prowler at 11:48 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies checked the area on two occasions but did not see anyone about.

– Rogers Food and Fuel, Depot Street, Rogers, reported at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday a silver PT Cruiser pulled away with the hose nozzle still in the vehicle’s gas fill. The hose was torn from the pump and then the driver stopped, removed the nozzle and placed it on the ground. The PT Cruiser then left the area.

– Lori Crow of Campbell’s Grocery Store, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported a man sleeping on the bench at 2:32 a.m. Sunday. Deputies awoke Charles L. Bailey, who appeared to be intoxicated. He said he was going home, but did not remember from where he was coming. Deputies gave him a ride home to Lisbon.

– Ron Matz, Bayard Road, Homeworth, reported at 4:16 p.m. Sunday there was a breaking and entering while he was on vacation. Matz said he came home and found firearms and fireworks taken from inside his garage, along with a flashlight from his truck.

– Brandy Finch, Carlisle Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:04 p.m. Sunday her ex-husband has been slandering Sgt. Steve Boyd on Facebook because of dissatisfaction with how an issue was being handled. Deputies thanked Finch for her concern, but said her ex-husband can say anything he wants due to freedom of speech.

– Pamela Lattimer, Foundry Hill Road, Hanoverton, reported at 4:33 p.m. Monday she received a call from Home Savings fraud watch department alerting her someone in Findlay, Ohio, used her card three times making transactions of $119, 122 and $106.

– Charles Foust, state Route 517, Lisbon, reported at 4:31 p.m. Monday he earlier told a manager at the Elkton Post Office she should watch one of her employees. Foust said he later received a call from the employee’s wife, yelling at him about what he said and claiming her husband was on the verge of being fired. Deputies spoke to the woman and told her not to contact Foust again.

– A 16-year-old Hilltop Drive, Lisbon, girl reported at 6:54 p.m. Monday she was walking her dog on a leash down the road past the Chestnut residence on Hilltop and Depot Road, when a rotweiler came at her in a vicious manor. She pulled out pepper spray and tried to spray the dog, then a man came at the dog, kicked it away and yelled at her not to spray the dog. The girl said a second man then came yelling at her to spray him and threatened to beat her. Deputies spoke to Steve Chestnut, who said the dog is a puppy and was totally under his control when the girl sprayed him and it. He denied anyone threatened the girl. Deputies warned him to keep the dog under control and not to threaten the girl or her family.

-Johnny Lanfried, Cherry Valley Drive, Leetonia, reported at 7:05 a.m. July 8 someone ransacked his unlocked vehicle leaving his wallet on the floor, taking all his money and his softball gear. Deputies reminded him to lock his vehicle.

– Steve Chestnut, Depot Road, Lisbon, reported at 10:24 p.m. Monday a Hilltop Drive woman has been driving drunk, peeled out and flung rocks toward his home and vehicles without any damage. Deputies said they would be in the area and see if they could catch anyone driving drunk.

– Robert Jennings, owner of Rainbow Campgrounds, reported at 3:15 p.m. Monday he was out of town working and his wife’s sister, Shawna Simmonds, brought her child’s father, Charles Holbrook, to the campground. Jennings told deputies they have told Simmonds that Holbrook is not allowed there and Jennings called Holbrook on Monday afternoon to tell him to leave. Holbrook reportedly threatened to come back and take care of him and his family.

– Jeff Hall, safety director for Columbus McKinnon Co., Pennsylvania Avenue, Salem, reported at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday one of the company’s drivers, Jeff Corbin, was making a pickup at Berger Electric, U.S. Route 62, Salem, at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday. Corbin was exiting the driveway and struck the gate at the entrance, damaging both the truck and the gate. Corbin said they would be filing a report with their insurance company and repairing the gate.

– Amanda Jett, Canal Street, East Rochester, reported at 5:41 p.m. Tuesday someone had spray-painted a derogatory word on the side of her shed.

– A vehicle owned by the All Star Driving School of Youngstown was reportedly parked in a driveway on Dyke Road, Rogers, where a student driver was being picked up, when a car driven by Kaleb Porter, Union Ridge Road, Rogers, backed into the car.

– An argument was reported at a home on state Route 170, East Palestine, at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday. Desiree Walker told deputies she and her roommate, Amber Sampson, had an argument and everyone left. Sampson was contacted and confirmed she had left the home, but was heading to the sheriff’s office to file a report.

– Craig Wade, Winona Road, Salem, reported at 11:56 p.m. Monday someone damaged his mailbox and post by throwing a log from a moving vehicle at about 11:51 p.m. He looked out when he heard the noise and could only hear a loud exhaust.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 6:46 p.m. Monday at a Pancake-Clarkson Road, Rogers, home. Deputies arrived in time to see Cindel Sheppard punch her boyfriend, Nico Baker, in the face. The couple was then separated. Sheppard told deputies she attacked Baker and he did not touch her, but she had a split lower lip. Sheppard’s father, Michael Sheppard, said he heard some fighting and found Baker holding his daughter in a headlock. Sheppard told him to let her go and then Baker punched him. Sheppard said he also saw Baker punch his daughter in the face right before deputies pulled up. Baker, 22, was charged with domestic violence and assault, while Cindel Sheppard, 23, was charged with domestic violence.

– Jamie France, of New Philadelphia, at 11:18 p.m. Saturday brought a bone she found in the rafters of the old schoolhouse on state Route 9 in Kensington to the sheriff’s office. She was concerned it may be human. The bone had holes drilled on both ends where it appeared a string went through it at one point. One deputy remembered being at the place before when it was filled with Halloween decorations because the former residents had a Gothic style.

– Christine Andric, Fairfield School Road, Leetonia, reported at 10:42 p.m. Saturday she received a call from her 17-year-old granddaughter, who said her parents were arguing and she had locked herself in the vehicle outside. Andric got permission from the child’s father to take her to her house.

– Al Coy, state Route 172, Minerva, reported at 9:35 p.m. Saturday he heard loud explosions. Deputies found a party had just finished and they had some fireworks.

– Kristen Christanson, U.S. 62, Salem, reported at 9:20 p.m. Sunday a possible domestic situation at the Butler Mobile City. Janet Beiling told deputies she and her son, Michael Humbert, had an argument, then her daughter Christanson got into Humbert’s face. Christanson reportedly looked like she was going to hit him, but he moved out of the way. Christanson then took her children and left.

– Brandi Martin, Mahoning Avenue, Alliance, reported a domestic assault at 12:32 a.m. Sunday. Deputies took statements from Martin and a second reported victim. Two warrants were issued for Keith Robson, who is charged with domestic violence. He was not there when deputies arrived.

– Vandalism was reported at the home of Taylor Huddleston, Center Road, Alliance, at 11:21 p.m. Saturday. Huddleston told deputies she and her live-in boyfriend, Craig Savage, are breaking up and he was supposed to come pick up his property at their home on Saturday. However, he did not arrive when she expected him. Later when Huddleston was there with a male friend talking in the living room, Savage and six other men walked right in. Savage reportedly punched Huddleston’s friend before his friends told him to stop and got him to leave. When he left Savage reportedly slammed the door shut, punched through the window breaking the glass and injured his own arm. Deputies later learned Savage was at Alliance hospital. Huddleston declined to press charges.

– Wanda Burris, Church Hill Road, Lisbon, reported at 11:08 p.m. Saturday she saw Christian Bell around her property and told her grandson to tell him to leave as she was leaving to go run some errands. When she returned, Bell was still there and she told him to leave while she was still in her vehicle in her driveway. Bell reportedly threatened to slit her throat and kill her family before going to the end of the driveway and beginning to smash a cluster of mailboxes. She told him she was calling the sheriff and he ran into the field across the road. Another neighbor told deputies she heard Bell threaten Burris and smashing the mailboxes. Deputies searched for Bell, 19, East Liverpool, and then issued a warrant for his arrest.

– Larry Mangus, Buffalo Road, Kensington, reported at 4:37 a.m. on July 1, he could hear a man and a woman in a tent across from his home yelling and then the woman began yelling for help. The woman, Amanda Kackert told deputies Daniel Duncan was holding her down in water inside the tent and putting a wet blanket over her head. Duncan said he was assaulted by Kackert and he had a contusion on the back of his head while bleeding from the nose a little. Deputies explained domestic violence laws and both declined to prosecute.

– Michelle Rauch, Hunters Camp Road, Lisbon, reported at 7:08 p.m. July 7 she gave her friend, Amanda Mariner, her debit card the day before to get something one of them needed from the store. Mariner was to return it that evening. Rauch checked her account and found Mariner made three ATM withdrawals and used the card twice at Dollar General and once at Sparkle.

– A Crestview Road man was transported to the SRMC at 12:53 a.m. Thursday after he reportedly made some threats to harm himself.

– Deputies were called to a possible overdose on Harvey Avenue, Lisbon, at 2:38 a.m. Saturday. The woman reportedly accidentally took too many Xanax due to the other medications she is taking. She was transported to SRMC for monitoring.

– Darlene Smith, state Route 165, East Palestine, reported at 4:02 a.m. Saturday someone was making noise. Deputies checked the area, but found no one near the home. Smith told deputies this has been going on every week, but usually earlier in the night.

– A possible drug overdose was reported at a trailer near Rogers Sale at 12:16 p.m. Friday. When deputies arrived, friends of the victim reportedly had loaded him into a vehicle and started toward East Liverpool City Hospital. A later phone call from the driver of the vehicle said the person had come to and as far as deputies know, the person never was treated at the hospital.

– Haylee Glover, Millrock Road, Rogers, reported at 2:27 p.m. Friday while she was on vacation she checked to see if the hotel took payment from her account. She then learned someone else had charged her card seven times totaling $164. One of the companies, listed as CHKMATE told her the names of the two women with accounts using her credit card number, but would not tell her where they are from.

– James Ross, state Route 14, East Palestine, reported at 1:16 p.m. Friday a gray truck, pulling a trailer for heavy equipment, had turned the corner at state Route 14 and Howell Avenue leaving ruts in his yard. He was concerned about possible damage to the gas lines in the area if it continues to happen.

– Dorene Reynolds, Ash Street, Leetonia, reported at 2:14 p.m. Friday she recently inherited a home on Foundry Hill road and she checks it every so often. When she went on Friday she saw someone attempting to get into the house. She later found a 52-inch flatscreen TV missing.

– Mary Slider, Fairfield School Road, Columbiana, reported at 10:44 a.m. Friday reported issues with her boyfriend’s brother taking her photo without permission. Slider has been staying on the couch to be near her boyfriend’s brother, who is not supposed to be alone due to a medical condition. Another brother has been coming in the middle of the night and taking photos of them sleeping. The brother taking the photos said he had erased the photos and it would not happen again.

– Tiffany Koval, Malvern, reported at 1:38 p.m. Friday she had a stand at Rogers Sale and a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol with a purple polymer frame was taken from her table while she was changing her baby’s diaper.

– Joseph Piscitani, Calcutta Smith Ferry Road, East Liverpool, reported at 1:57 p.m. Thursday he owns the Grange hall in West Point and had some corrugated steel sheeting stored there. A couple months ago someone stole 10 eight-foot long sheets. They were blue on one side and white on the other. In the past few days someone took two more sheets, 14-foot long, which were yellow on one side and gray on the other. The metal is a total value of $340.

– Rogers Food and Fuel reported at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday someone attempted to give them a possible counterfeit $50. Deputies met Jerry Allen Anderson and Matthew T. Mosholder. Anderson told deputies he just borrowed the $50 from Mosholder because he needed gas. Mosholder said he got the bill from the bank a couple months ago. The clerk, Elizabeth Hargreaves, used the pen to determine the legitimacy of the bill and the ink turned dark, signifying a possible bogus bill. A deputy examined the bill and found it did not appear to be counterfeit. The bill was returned to Anderson so it could be examined further at a bank.

– Howard Barnes, Bayard Road, Minerva, reported at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday he was away from the farm from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and someone took four bulldozer batteries and a truck battery from beside his garage. He found his batteries at A and A Tire on state Route 43 and the clerk told him who brought the batteries in to sell them for scrap, although he does not think that person is the one who stole them.

– Conni Vonfeldt, West Perry Street, Salem, reported at 11:26 a.m. Monday her husband threw her out recently and his new girlfriend moved in. Vonfeldt went to pick up her 10-year-old daughter, but they refused to let her have her. The couple is married and there is no custody set up so deputies explained she should contact an attorney.

– Becky Thompson, Ashton Road, East Liverpool, reported at 11:07 a.m. Monday someone stole the trash from her garbage can next to her home.

– Marina Reynolds, Grafton Road, Leetonia, reported at 8:48 a.m. Monday someone stole five rings from her home between Saturday and then.

– William Kusior, state Route 14, New Waterford, reported at 11:26 a.m. Monday his neighbor moved an excavator across his driveway, which caused damage.

– Negley EMS and deputies were called to a home on state Route 170, Negley, at 11:34 p.m. Tuesday where a man stated he did not want to live anymore and asked for help. He was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital for an evaluation.

– The mother and aunt of a 15-year-old girl on Depot Road, Lisbon, reported at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday the girl became angry when she was not allowed to have her boyfriend over and threw things in the garage following an argument. The girl then reportedly went back into the house, got a knife and attempted to cut her own wrists. She was transported Maple Cotton EMS to Belmont Pines for evaluation.

– Lindsay Cope, U.S. Route 30, Minerva, reported at 8:21 p.m. Monday she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Charles Depalmo Jr., who she said slammed her to the ground and punched her in the face when she got back up. Cope further claimed he dumped alcohol over her head and pulled out some of her hair. She had redness and some old bruises from when he allegedly assaulted her and she reported it on June 30. She did not want to pursue charges on Monday.

– Rachel Torres, Richardson Avenue, Negley, reported at 9:20 p.m. Monday a man named Jonathon Post came to her home and accused them of stealing his ATV. Torres said she bought the ATV from Karen Luke and Mark Higgins, Clark Avenue, Wellsville, paying $250 and an iPad.

– A woman was reported near the Lisbon McDonald’s stumbling into traffic and possibly intoxicated at 11:31 p.m. Monday. Deputies and Lisbon police found her lying on the ground, pregnant and playing with her phone on the sidewalk in front of the McDonald’s. She gave deputies false names and a false date of birth, before they finally got her to show them identification. She also gave several stories about who she was waiting on and why she was stumbling in traffic. Kayla D. Clingerman, 28, was charged with obstructing official business.

– Casey and Brandon Conkle, Bye Road, East Palestine, reported at 6:16 p.m. Thursday someone fired a gun out of the window of a Jeep. The couple claimed they were northbound on Adams Road and turned onto Bye Road. A Jeep Comanchee was southbound on Adams Road and turned onto Bye Road behind them. The driver came up behind them and threw his arms in the air like he was angry. Brandon Conkle then held his phone out the window to take photos of the man and that was when the guy reportedly stuck a handgun out the window firing at least three rounds into the air. The Conkles drove home and the other vehicle never came past their driveway. Deputies checked the area, but didn’tt locate Jeep.

– Angela Crawford, West School Street, East Rochester, reported at 10:13 p.m. Saturday she was using her mother-in-law’s vehicle and drove to a family get-together on Bayard Road, Minerva. A family friend at the party, Cody Stumblefield, Union Avenue S.E., Minerva, backed up and struck the front of the vehicle then drove off. Deputies talked to Stumblefield, who said he never hit any vehicle and he even checked the back of his vehicle finding no marks.

– Mark Morgan, Bayard Road, Minerva, was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated. Deputies were called about threats at 12:17 a.m. Saturday and found Morgan who was claiming his neighbor, Harold Dunlap, came over to his house, broke down his gate and broke his door trying to get inside. Dunlap told deputies Morgan was intoxicated, yelling profanities and threats at him and his company every time they were outside. Deputies warned Morgan to stop yelling, but shortly after leaving the immediate area, deputies heard him again.

– Edward and Lisa Nicholson, Wellsburg, W.Va., reported they were camping at the KOA campground on Winona Road, Salem, with their son, Edward Nicholson Jr., 31, and his wife, Joyce, 27, who were detoxing from heroin. The son and his wife left to go for a walk and Lisa Nicholson discovered her bank card was missing. When they returned, Joyce Nicholson returned the bank card and they found $104 was taken. Joyce Nicholson reportedly admitted to deputies to taking the card and buying drugs with the money. Both Edward and Joyce Nicholson, of Wellsburg, W.Va., were charged with theft.

– Michelle Roberts, Lisbon Road, Salem, reported someone was beating on the doors of her home at 2:20 a.m. June 28. Her husband, Jason Roberts, told deputies someone he knows has been harassing him for a few months and that person along with several others came to the house banging on the doors and windows.

– Gary W. Blythe, Weston, Fla., was found dead on the floor of the restroom at Pondi’s in Lisbon at 4:04 p.m. Thursday. Blythe, who also has an additional address of Woodale Drive, Hanoverton, reportedly came into the business often. He got up from his table, went to the restroom and when another patron tried to enter about 30 minutes later the door was locked. After another 15 minutes without anyone emerging from the restroom, the patron alerted the staff. The door was pried open and Blythe was found. No foul play is suspected.

– Rebekah Albert, U.S. Route 62, Salem, reported at 7:22 p.m. Thursday $20 was missing from her purse.

– Allison Bardo, Bittner Road, Lisbon, reported at 11:30 a.m. Thursday suspicious men were going door to door attempting to sell soap in a gray Chrysler van. Deputies could not locate the vehicle.

– Michael Bratt, Bye Road, Negley, called at 3:23 p.m. Saturday to have his brother removed from his property because he was drunk and making threats. Bratt called back to say his brother had already left and a deputy was no longer needed.

– Marlene Walton, East Liverpool Road, Madison Township, reported Saturday her mailbox was smashed.

– Gloria Shafer, Hillcrest Drive, Hanoverton, reported someone was firing a cannon of some sorts at 10 a.m. Saturday. A deputy checked the area but did not hear anything.

– Michael Mustake, Oak Street, Hanoverton, reported Saturday the hatch window on his GMC Yukon was shattered while the vehicle was parked outside his home. Nothing was found in or around the vehicle that could have broken the window.

– Jerry Jackson, 33, Alice Street, East Palestine, was taken into custody on several outstanding warrants following a traffic stop for a red light violation at Carter Lumber in Lisbon at 6:18 p.m. Friday. Jackson was arrested for failure to appear in court on charges of domestic violence, aggravated menacing and assault.

– Taylor Rickels, state Route 45, Leetonia, reported being assaulted by her boyfriend, Daniel Coleman, at 2:55 p.m. Sunday. Domestic violence charges were filed against Coleman for allegedly punching Rickels in the face and side, breaking her glasses, and than ramming her in the stomach with his head like a charging bull. She said he also pushed her out the front door while she was holding their 8-month-old daughter.

– Amy Berry, Rose Drive Apartments, Lisbon, reported Sunday her locked vehicle was entered and money stolen from her purse while the vehicle was in the parking lot. There was no damage to the vehicle.

– Lee Houlette, Davner Road, Lisbon, reported Sunday his garage was entered, and the perpetrators drove his Ford Escape into the garage door and then backed up and struck a pickup also parked inside. There was no sign of forced entry, nor was anything missing.

– Arin Gaydos reported Friday a vehicle was stolen from Gaydos Car Sales, state Route 7, Elkrun Township.

– Deputies were called to a domestic dispute between Terry Welsh and Scott Cameron on Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, at 9:18 a.m. Friday. Both said they were arguing but there were no threats or assaults.

– Daniel Duncan reported being assaulted by Jerry Milton on Bower Road in West Township at 8:34 p.m. Wednesday. Duncan said Milton struck him about the head and shoulders with a baseball bat. Duncan had a small cut on his thumb and mark on his shoulder. Duncan was given a ride to his home in East Rochester by a deputy.

– Robert Ross, Lower Elkton Road, Leetonia, reported Robert Crespo came to his home at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday to harass him and his wife, who is Crespo’s ex-wife.

– Jessica Renda, state Route 154, Negley, reported Wednesday seeing someone removing an air conditioner unit from the vacant home in front her residence and take it away to another house. A deputy arrived and spoke with Matt Goins, who said it was his understanding the owner wanted the AC unit removed. Goins said he would put it back.

– A deputy was called to the Laughlin residence on state Route 154, Negley, where Mr. Laughlin reported his grandson threatened to assault him and burn his house down. This was after he told his grandson he was no longer allowed on the property.

– Jeff Leake, Latta Road, East Palestine, reported Wednesday a hose was removed from his above-ground swimming pool, letting out about one-third of the water. Leake believes he knows who is responsible.

– Helen McBride, Hartley Road, Damascus, reported her mailbox was destroyed Tuesday night.

– Erin Haley, Cemetery Road, Hanoverton, reported at 11:32 a.m. Wednesday she wanted her adult son to go the hospital to be checked. The son agreed to go after speaking with a deputy.

– Benjamin Craft, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, reported Wednesday Home Savings advised him someone had twice tried to use his debit card.

– Julie Groves, First Street, Hanoverton, reported her ex-husband assaulted his stepdaughter Tuesday, choking her and throwing her to the ground. The teenager had no marks on her, and the ex-husband denied assaulting her.

– Scott Finnegan, Center Road, Homeworth, reported Tuesday night a person he knows informed him he had taken his ladder for a job, and this was without Finnegan’s permission. The person has since returned the ladder and another ladder that does not belong to Finnegan.

– Jody Judge, Homeworth Road, Homeworth, reported Monday evening her 10-year-old son was at the Homeworth Pantry when he was threatened by two other boys for allegedly spitting on a neighborhood boy with disabilities. A deputy went to a home on Middle Street and spoke with the boys.

– James Shafer, Bacon Avenue, East Palestine, reported someone he met at an online dating site is trying to extort money from him. Shafer said he struck up an online conversation with someone who identified themself as a woman from Columbiana. They agreed to exchange photographs, with Shafer sending her a facial photograph but receiving some nude photographs in return. Then on Tuesday, a man who identified himself as the female’s father contacted him to say he would go to police with his daughter’s phone unless Shafer sent him a Moneygram in the amount of $1,200. While Shafer was at the East Palestine Police Department, the man called him back saying he only had 20 minutes left to comply.

– A fireworks complaint was received from someone on Johnson Road in Madison Township at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday. A deputy arrived and sat for a while but did not hear any fireworks.

– Alexandrea Romigh, Tower Road, Salem, reported Sunday receiving harassing messages via Facebook.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE

– Thomas Brown, U.S. Route 30, Kensington, reported someone stole his pickup truck from his driveway at 11:41 p.m. Monday. Brown said he heard his truck start up but it was gone by the time he got dressed. The truck was later found after having crashed into a phone pole, and the accident is being investigated by the highway patrol.

– Dawn Howe of Salem asked a deputy to check on the welfare of her 12-year-old son at his father’s home on U.S. Route 62, Knox Township, at 10:17 p.m. Monday. Howe said her son was texting her that his stomach hurt and he wanted to come home. A deputy arrived and said the son appeared to be fine but wanted to go home and ended up leaving with his mother.

– A deputy was called to the home of Clifford McFarland, St. Jacob-Logtown Road, Salem Township, in regard to a possible drug overdose at 6:42 p.m. Monday. McFarland was transported to a local hospital.

– Elizabeth Dahl of East Liverpool reported a domestic dispute was underway at the home of her son, Scott Dahl, Depot Road, Lisbon, at 12:28 a.m. Monday. Scott and his girlfriend Kalyln Davis told the deputy they had been assaulted by her father. The matter remains under investigation.

– A 911 hangup call was received from a home on Guilford Lake Estates off Depot Road at 11:50 a.m. Monday. Deputies arrived and determined a brother and sister had been arguing when she called 911. The mother called while the deputies were there and told them she was on her way to take care of the situation.
