SALEM
– Howard Dearth, 77, of Wadsworth, was cited for failure to yield at 1:09 p.m. Friday after his westbound vehicle on East Pershing Street failed to yield from the stop sign at South Ellsworth, colliding with a southbound vehicle on South Ellsworth driven by Jack Strange. Minor damage was done to both vehicles.
– An audible alarm was reported at 11:03 a.m. Friday on Pearce Circle where a yard crew said the owners had left five minutes before officers arrived. The residence appeared secure.
– A stolen vehicle was reported at 10:26 a.m. Friday from the 900 block of West Perry Street. Perry Township Police located the vehicle behind an apartment complex in the 1100 block of West Perry Street. The owner was taken to retrieve the vehicle and drove it home. It appeared to have been misplaced.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 9:39 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Short Avenue where both parties said the argument was over watching a child. No physical violence occurred and the male left for the day.
– Police were called at 6:04 a.m. Friday to the 900 block of West Wilson Avenue for a burglary in progress. All doors were found locked and secure with no one in the immediate area.
– An officer was flagged down at 1:48 a.m. Friday for several people allegedly with open containers of alcohol in the Speedway parking lot on West State Street. A few of the people appeared intoxicated, but no open containers were seen.
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 1:24 a.m. Friday on East Euclid Street, but the vehicle was not found.
– Police responded at 12:44 a.m. Friday to the 400 block of Reilly Avenue at Reilly Stadium for vandalism done to the school/stadium wall. The school official who called said they have problems with vandalism at the stadium and high school every time they play West Branch in football. He was told to check the cameras to attempt to identify the vehicles or people involved. The police chief and detectives will be advised about the vandalism. Photos of the damage showed a section of bricks on one wall pulled down. On another wall, someone used spray foam to write a derogatory term towards Salem. The school official said they were checking all the other Salem school sites and inside the stadium for any other potential vandalism. The incident is under investigation.
– Loud persons were reported at 11:28 p.m. Thursday by a resident in a Salem apartment building who said someone in a neighboring apartment was banging on the walls. The person was made aware and told to keep the noise down.
– Police were called at 9:27 p.m. Thursday to the 500 block of Walnut Street where a woman said a man’s parents blocked his vehicle with another vehicle. They said they were just wanting to talk to her. They left.
– A juvenile problem was reported at 8:46 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Jennings Avenue where a juvenile had run away from a group home in Goshen Township. Officers made contact with the juvenile and she was taken back to the police station where she was picked up by a staff member of the facility.
– Recovered property was located outside the police department at 6:46 p.m. Thursday and placed in lost and found.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 6:20 p.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of Cleveland Street where a woman got into an argument with her ex-husband over what the daughter was going to wear to school the next day. He yelled at her, pushed her and left. The ex-husband came to the police station and said the argument was over a custody issue. He said he didn’t push her, but only stopped her from hitting his truck. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review.
– A juvenile possibly destroying property was reported at 5:50 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of East Second Street. An officer spoke to the juvenile. No damage was found.
– Suspicious persons were reported at 4:41 p.m. Thursday on Fairview Court where two people were reported going door-to-door trying to sell items. They were found and told they needed a permit.
– An officer was at Reilly School at 1:07 p.m. Thursday when a male juvenile fell on the playground, possibly hurting his neck. Fire department first responders and EMT were contacted along with his mother. The boy said he was fine and his neck was hurting, but said it had been hurting earlier, too.
– Police officers recovered stolen property and returned the items to the store after talking to a suspect at Salem Regional Medical Center on East State Street Thursday. The call first came at 10:27 a.m. for a shoplifter at Shoe Sensation, 2333 E. State St., who was described as wearing a pink sweatshirt or hoodie walking toward Bob Evans restaurant. She wasn’t found then. Police were told the woman came into the store and put a pair of size 9 blue suede boots into her large bright teal green purse and walked toward the exit. The woman said she wasn’t from the area and asked if Marc’s sold shoes. She left without paying for the boots and circled around the parking lot toward the restaurant before an officer spoke to her later at the hospital.
– Melissa Woolf, of South Range Road, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her vehicle ran into the back of another vehicle driven by David Donovan, of Berlin Center on Goshen Road Thursday morning.
– Peter Ort, of a business on Elm Avenue, reported at 7:44 a.m. Thursday that someone kicked in the bottom right panel of the bay doors to make entry into the building. Once inside, the person cut off a lock and removed a cash box with an undetermined amount of money.
COLUMBIANA
– Timothy D. Gallo, 65, Youngstown, was westbound through the traffic circle to West Park Avenue at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday and Jo Ann Doughty, 75, Poland, was southbound on North Main Street and failed to yield to traffic in the circle and struck Gallo. Doughty was cited for failure to yield.
– Donald E. Mollett III, 23, state Route 14, Columbiana, was eastbound on East Park Avenue at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday and went off the right side onto property at 629 E. Park Ave. and struck an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot. He was cited for failure to control.
– Nicole Dobrich, Columbiana, reported a possible check scam at 9 a.m. Thursday.
– Herman Rossi, Columbiana, reported at 10:17 a.m. Thursday someone in a red pickup with a black tailgate was swerving all over the road southbound on state Route 164. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle. Beaver Township police were also notified.
– A Timberline Drive woman reported at 10:49 a.m. Thursday her driver’s license and bank cards were lost or stolen.
– Michael P. Frattaroli, 41, Youngstown, was eastbound on state Route 14 at 11:49 a.m. Thursday and began slowing in traffic due to an audible siren from an unknown area, and Michael A. Demarco, 64, Canfield, was also eastbound and slowed to a stop when Frattaroli’s foot reportedly slipped off the brake and his vehicle struck Demarco’s. Frattaroli was cited for assured clear distance.
– A woman reported at 1:36 p.m. Thursday a suspicious man in a black hooded sweatshirt was knocking on doors on Stanton Drive, carrying a rake.
– Glenn Grubb, 53, Columbiana, was arrested on a warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 2:10 p.m. Thursday following a traffic stop on Lisbon Street near West Street. Grubb was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.
– A woman reported at 2:38 p.m. Thursday there was a heavy amount of smoke in the area of Fairfield and Woodland avenues. Police found a woman in the area had a small fire burning for brush. Police told her about the city’s open burning ordinances and the brush was removed.
– Thomas Coffman, 34, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on West Park Avenue at 8:25 p.m. Thursday. The owner, Melissa Dunn, 33, Columbiana, who was a passenger in the car was cited for wrongful entrustment.
– A North Cross Street man reported 8:55 p.m. Thursday his live-in girlfriend came home to find the locks to the house changed and that the owner of the home had already left. Police gave the woman advice on how to retrieve her belongings.
– A woman reported at 9:57 p.m. Thursday there was suspicious car in the Manor Apartment complex parking lot. Police checked and found there were no problems.

SALEM
– A woman reported at 4:50 a.m. Thursday that her sister was assaulted and she was concerned for her welfare and wanted officers to check on her in the 500 block of Fair Avenue. The female was contacted and police learned the assault occurred in Lisbon. A roommate was taking her to the hospital, then to Lisbon Police.
– A man from East Fifth Street responded to the police station at 2:49 a.m. Thursday, reporting he heard police were looking for him. It was determined the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office needed to speak to him regarding an alleged assault. Police stood by while deputies conducted their investigation.
– Police assisted the fire department on a medical call at 1:41 a.m. Thursday on Highland Avenue. A man was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
– A woman in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard reported at 12:30 a.m. Thursday that she was being harassed by phone by her ex-boyfriend. She reported receiving hundreds of texts per day and that he’s constantly circling around her apartment complex. She was provided some options. An officer contacted her ex-boyfriend and told him to cease contact and stay away from the apartment complex.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue where a caller reported seeing a van parked in front of the ATM with the front of the ATM open. The caller said as he approached to use the ATM, the people closed the ATM and left. The area was checked several times, but the vehicle was not found.
– Mary Shuman, 32, of 142 Ohio Ave., was taken into custody at her residence at 9:51 p.m. Wednesday on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for failure to appear. She was processed and released to a deputy.
– Police responded at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of East Third Street to speak with a woman and her juvenile son who said he took his computer tablet to a friend’s house earlier in the day and the friend’s parents won’t return it, claiming he sold it to them. The woman provided the packaging and manual for the tablet and showed officers messages on her phone from the other parents which affirmed they had the tablet. Officers responded to their residence on Aetna Street and there were no receipts for the alleged transaction. According to the report, not only had the juvenile’s parents never given him permission to sell the tablet, but the juvenile himself was adamant that he never sold or offered to sell the tablet, which was valued substantially higher than the amount the other party claimed to have paid for it. The tablet was returned to the woman. All involved were told about the importance of signed receipts being made and kept to verify transactions.
– Severe weather damage was reported at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West Eighth Street where a limb was hanging on a wire of the telephone pole and the bottom of the pole was cracked. Ohio Edison was contacted and responded to replace the pole without incident.
– A loud person was reported at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue, but was not found.
– A dispute was reported at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Washington Avenue. Police spoke to a boyfriend and girlfriend who said they had a loud argument and broke some items but neither harmed nor threatened the other. The domestic violence laws were explained and both said they were leaving for the night.
– No injuries were reported and no citation was issued after a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highland Avenue and East Third Street at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday. The report said fault could not be determined due to conflicting stories. Ashley Baddeley, 30, of West Wilson Street, was driving west on Third and Jill Kilchenman, 59, of Sleepy Hollow, Ohio was driving north on Highland when they collided in the intersection.
– Damage was reported to the crossing gate at Mullins at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday. Police located the damaged gate and Norfolk Southern responded to repair it.
– A possible scam was reported at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday by a woman on Westview Drive who said she spoke to both a female and a male caller who claimed she won $450,000 from a Las Vegas sweepstakes, but she would have to send in $2250 to claim the prize. She said the people were persistent and continuously tried to convince her the prize was legitimate. She told them she didn’t have that much money to send and they tried to tell her she could get assistance from the government but would still need to send $1,250. An officer told her any request for money to be sent to claim an alleged prize is likely a scam and would result in the loss of any money sent. She didn’t lose any money. She was told to hang up if they call again.
– A reckless operator was reported at 4:29 p.m. Wednesday on West Pershing Street and Ellsworth. Officers monitored the vehicle but saw no violations.
– A resident on North Madison reported at 4:11 p.m. Wednesday that vehicles were blocking his driveway due to an auction being held in the area. Officers spoke with the person in charge of the auction and an announcement was made to have the vehicles moved.
– A man on West Wilson Street reported at 3:49 p.m. Wednesday that he’s receiving phone calls from an unknown person wanting to fight. The person does not live in the city. He was told to save all text messages and block the number from his phone. An officer will attempt to contact the other person and tell him to stop.
– A domestic was reported in the 200 block of West Wilson Street at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday. A female at the residence said everything was ok, then an officer spoke to an adult male and juvenile male. Neither had visible signs of an altercation. The adult was upset with the juvenile who he thought took his package of cigarettes. The juvenile was advised of the consequences of smoking.
PERRY TWP.
– A caller on Jones Drive reported at 9:41 p.m. Wednesday that a male known to her was seen exiting one of the vehicles in the family’s driveway. Several dollars in change were reported missing from the center console. The suspect could not be located.
– An anonymous caller at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday reported prowlers in the 1000 block of Liberty Street and hung up without giving further information. Nobody was found outside in the area or surrounding streets.
– No injuries were reported and no citations issued after an accident on Cunningham Road near state Route 344 at 5:57 p.m. Tuesday. A vehicle driven by Staci Medved, 22, of Farrington Avenue, Leetonia, was stopped southbound on Cunningham Road at the stop sign and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Denver Grabill, 20, of Lower Elkton Road, Leetonia, who failed to stop in an assured clear distance. Both vehicles sustained very minor damage and were driven from the scene.
– A female from Beechwood Drive reported at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday that she was assaulted by a man in late September in the township. An investigation is pending.
– Pauline Bellos, of South Lincoln Avenue, reported at 3:51 p.m. Tuesday that $75 was taken from her wallet on Oct. 22.
COLUMBIANA
-Tammy Welch reported at 9:28 p.m. Wednesday her boyfriend’s motorcycle was found lying on its side on West Salem Street.
-Cody Arkwright reported at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday he was assaulted on Fairfield School Road.
– David Coie reported at 11:11 p.m. Wednesday he had a renter move out of an East Friend Street residence and they had a child and the conditions were awful.

LISBON
-Ambulance driver Heather Gilbey was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after she drove into the rear of a vehicle operated by Jennifer Disanto, Washington Street, Salineville. This occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Way and Market Street at 10:17 a.m. Oct. 23.
– Police were called to the Vista Center at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday about an elderly man in the rear parking lot who appeared confused. Police determined the man was with his wife, who was driving, and she appeared fine. She said they just out for a ride and she knew how to get home.
– An official with Sacred Arms reported one of its nurses was being verbally harassed and threatened while she was attending to a resident of the Apple Grove apartments at 11:24 a.m Tuesday. The nurse was gone by the time police arrived, but the resident was still irate and saying how everyone is mean to him. The resident said he cannot cook for himself and the nurse would not help him. After determining there was no reasoning with the resident, the officer ordered the man to get back in his apartment or he would be arrested. The resident complied. Meanwhile, the resident’s caseworker decided he needed to be mentally evaluated at a local hospital, so police remained until an ambulance arrived. The resident began yelling, screaming and generally being disrespectful to everyone.
– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments in regard to a man (different than the man mentioned in the above report) who was threatening to harm himself at 12:11 a.m. Oct. 23. The officer remained until he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
– Police responded to East Lincoln Way in regard to a landlord/tenant dispute between Greg Weber and a Mr. Reynolds at 11:47 a.m. Sunday. Weber said he told Reynolds to move out but he was refusing to do so. Weber was told by police they could not make him leave without an eviction notice. Reynolds claimed Weber owed him some money for repairs and his security deposit but was told he would need to go to court for that.

SALEM
– Police are investigating a private property accident in the Marc’s parking lot off of East State Street at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday when the driver of a white Chevy Silverado allegedly swung open his door and struck the passenger side mirror of a parked vehicle, knocking it off. The driver of the parked vehicle was seated inside at the time and asked the truck driver why he hit his vehicle. The truck driver allegedly said he didn’t damage the vehicle. The mirror was still hanging from the door when police arrived. The truck driver told the driver of the parked vehicle that he was going to the hospital and police could talk to him there. The driver of the parked vehicle wrote down the license plate number and police took photos and noted white paint on the outer most edge of the damaged mirror. The hospital parking lot was checked, but the Chevy Silverado was not found.
– A woman at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday requested police make contact with her adult son in the 500 block of Walnut Street, saying he’s at his girlfriend’s and she was unable to contact him. No one was home when police attempted contact. The man and his girlfriend contacted police later and both said he was fine, he was taking his medicine and he does not want his parents contacting him.
– A man met police at a business in the 2700 block of East State Street at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday and said a female took a laptop from his residence in the 200 block of South Union Avenue. He found out the laptap was taken to the business and he asked the female to purchase the laptop back and she would not. He then reported the theft. The laptop was placed on hold while the theft was under investigation pending charges.
– An anonymous person at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday reported finding a wallet on the sidewalk on Cleveland Street which contained a few dollars and assorted cards and identification. It was placed in lost and found.
– A man in the 500 block of South Union Avenue called at 12:23 a.m. Wednesday regarding Internet harassment related to an earlier incident. He said there were false statements being made about the previous incident via social media and he wanted officers to be aware. The previous incident was reported at 8:51 p.m. Tuesday and involved an alleged assault in the 200 block of South Union Avenue. Officers found a juvenile female was assaulted by two other female juveniles. The case will be sent to the juvenile prosecutor.
– Excessive smoke was reported at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue, but no smoke was found in the area. An officer was told there has been an ongoing neighbor dispute. Both parties agreed to keep things peaceful for the night.
– Steven Hoffee, 45, of 808 Washington Ave., was charged with domestic violence after police were called at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday to his residence for a domestic in progress. A father and daugher had a physical confrontation and both had visible injuries, but the report said the father was determined as the primary aggressor and charged. The daughter was believed to have acted in self-defense. Both fire department first responders and KLG evaluated both at the scene, but neither wished to seek treatment.
– Three juveniles were reported running around outside and around vehicular traffic in the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday. The children had already gone back to their apartments and a witness had already spoken with their parents when police arrived. The children had reportedly been playing Star Wars.
– Charles Weyand Jr., 40, of 450 Aetna St., was cited for disorderly conduct after officers investigating a complaint in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday came in contact with an irate/disorderly person, identified later as Weyand. He was warned several times to stop yelling and causing a disturbance. He did not comply and was cited. Police had responded to the Sparkle Market on South Lundy Avenue for a juvenile problem, finding a he said/she said incident with no clear facts from either side. Due to conflicting stories, no action was being taken.
– A Salem school district bus driver reported at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday that a vehicle passed to the left of his school bus at 3:43 p.m. on South Broadway Avenue near East Wilson Street. The registration given for the vehicle did not match the description given.
– An officer on patrol at 5:01 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of West Wilson Street saw a large amount of smoke and investigated, finding a large pile of leaves burning. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. The homeowner was advised of the open burning regulations and given a warning.
– A Kennedy Drive resident reported at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday that someone cut the brake line on the back passenger side of their vehicle while it was parked in the Salem High School lot during school hours.
– A male resident in an apartment building in the 500 block of Walnut Street at 3:38 p.m. Monday said an exterminating company was spraying in the building and he could not breathe. Fire department first responders and EMT assisted him and he was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center. The exterminators said they sprayed nothing in the area of his apartment.
Salem Township
– Constable Dan Valentine received a report from a resident in the 35000 block of Salmar Drive, Salem, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday who advised she hired a contractor to build an addition onto her house. She recently discovered the contractor was buying double the material needed and would later return the duplicate material to the store and keep the money that was returned. The matter is under investigation.
– At 10:03 a.m. Oct. 13, Valentine received a complaint from a resident in the 3800 block of Leetonia Road, Leetonia, advising a Pequea dump trailer valued at $3,000, a three-point hitch style generator valued at $1,000 and a haywagon with running gear valued at $1,500 were missing from the farm property that he rents out. It was later discovered that the items were sold at the Roger’s Flea market without his permission. The matter is under investigation.
– At 9:06 a.m. Oct. 13, Valentine received a report from a resident in the 37000 block of state Route 558, Leetonia, advising that someone he knew stole two truck and two car batteries valued at $460, two car aluminum rims at $50 each, and one pound of scrap copper.
– At 8:01 p.m. Oct. 14, Valentine received a call from a resident in the 35000 block of state Route 344, Salem, advising that she heard noises around her house between midnight and 3 a.m. The next morning she discovered cigarette butts in the drive and out near the mailbox that were not there before. She was informed that extra watch would be made on her house.

– Joelle Bosela, Blueberry Drive, reported at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday a neighbor’s St. Bernard was barking outside for two hours. Police spoke with the dog owner about the complaint.
– Amber McNabb, 32, Newark, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 46 at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
– A man reported at 6 p.m. Tuesday a group of kids were sitting near the railroad tracks. Police told the group to go somewhere else.

SALEM
– A man from Walnut Street reported at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday that he found a license plate by the railroad tracks on West Pershing Street. No phone number was available to reach the owner. The plate was placed in the dispatch area.
– Police were called at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of Aetna Street for a request to speak with an officer, finding a female leaving in her vehicle with two children. She said she and a male had been arguing all night and she was tired of being called names in front of her children. She resides in another area. The man who called police said the same, that they had been arguing all night and he was tired of her calling him names in front of his two children. He also alleged she contacted her brother who was supposedly on his way to beat him up. She denied calling anyone or hiring anyone to harm him. He said a small broken television in the drive was her property and she had thrown it. She had no belongings there and he told her to destroy any of his belongings left at her residence. Police also told the female there was an active warrant for her arrest in Kentucky, which she knew about and was going to take care of, noting she knew they weren’t coming to get her for a $25 seat belt citation. She was outside of the pick-up radius.
– An open door was reported on a condemned home in the 1100 block of East Third Street at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday. Officers saw the rear door had been forced open. The house had been condemned due to an infestation. The housing department was contacted to secure the home.
– Police responded at 6:52 a.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of East Fifth Street for a report of a burglary that occurred sometime during the night. A man said a suspect climbed through a second-story window and stole his gaming system. He said the window was open and they shut it before police arrived. Names of possible suspects were provided.
– A woman reported at 9 p.m. Monday that she was walking out of Family Dollar, 239 W. State St., with multiple bags and sat one bag down on the ground beside her vehicle. She forgot to pick the bag up before leaving. When she returned, the bag was gone. It contained multiple items she bought along with her purse.
– While on the scene of a call on Rose Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Monday, an officer detected a strong odor of natural gas in the area and called the fire department to check the area. Firefighters could not detect an odor.
– Police were called at 8:38 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Rose Avenue for a person with a gun. A man said he worked for a repossession agency and had been attempting to contact a person who lived on Rose Avenue. As he drove through an alley beside the residence, he said a male came out and started yelling at him. He said the male pointed what he believed to be a gun at him. Police made contact with a female at the residence who denied knowing the male in question, said she never heard of him and when officers asked if they could check the residence for him, she said no. A short time later, officers saw the male in question walk out of the rear of the residence, spoke with him and he admitted to being inside. The female, Cheyenne Conkle, 19, of 238 Rose Ave., was charged with obstruction of official business and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– A representative of a store at 2350 E. State St. reported at 7:58 p.m. Monday that a shipment of cigarettes was taken on Oct. 20. The theft is under investigation.
– A well-being check was requested at 7:54 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Walnut Street. The person said he was fine.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 7:49 p.m. Monday on Carbon Street near the city garage. When police arrived, the vehicle was being loaded up by a local towing company. No suspicious activity was seen.
– A woman reported at 7:19 p.m. Monday that four rings were taken from her purse while she was at work in the 2300 block of East State Street. She later called to say the rings were returned to her.
– An audible alarm was reported at 5:48 p.m. Monday in the 2700 block of East State Street. Officers checked the front and rear doors and found them secure. Police were called back for another alarm at 6:23 p.m. Monday and found the building still secure. A keyholder responded and checked the building, securing the alarm.
– A well-being check was requested at 4:56 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Fifth Street. Nothing out of the ordinary was found and everything appeared fine.
– Rickey Guy, of the 800 block of East Third Street, reported at 4:52 p.m. Monday that unknown persons have been vandalizing his truck while it’s parked outside his residence. He didn’t report the first incident when a sticky substance was poured on the vehicle. This time the person wrote what appeared to be $’s into the dirt on the side of the truck.
– Matthew Armstrong, 34, of 309 E. Chestnut St., was charged with a minor misdemeanor for possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 4:36 p.m. Monday. An officer on patrol ran a random registration check on a vehicle which came back with a BMV order to confiscate the vehicle registration. While speaking with the driver, an officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, finding probable cause to search the vehicle and locating marijuana. The driver was cited and the vehicle towed from the scene.
– A caller reported a parking complaint at 4:20 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of North Union Avenue. Two vehicles owned by an excavating company were parked on the wrong side of the street. They were moved.
– Jennifer Starcher, 28, of Andrew Avenue, was cited for assured clear distance at 3 p.m. Monday after her westbound vehicle on East State Street attempted to go right around another westbound vehicle she thought was turning left, striking the vehicle in the rear when it turned right. The other driver, Alan Kenst, 63, of Barclay Avenue, claimed he used his right turn signal. Starcher and a passenger said they did not see the turn signal.
– Shane Morrison, 42, of 752 Arch St., was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for felony trafficking and possession of heroin after a traffic stop at 1:55 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue. An officer had run a random registration check and noticed the registration did not match the vehicle, initiating the stop and making contact with the driver, who was not the vehicle owner. The driver, Morrison, had an active warrant and was transported to the Minerva Police Department.
– A burglary was reported at 7:56 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of Fair Avenue where there was no sign of breaking and entering outside the residence. Officers found the front door was not secure, entered and cleared the residence before making contact with a woman. Everyone inside the home was a resident.
COLUMBIANA
– Terry Shaffer turned in an iPod phone and Olympus camera at 11 a.m. Monday that was found in the city pool’s lost and found box.
– Jeanie Hiner, Spruce Street, reported at 11:42 a.m. Monday his adult daughter was “flipping out.” She later calmed down and left the home. At 3 p.m. Jackie Hiner reported the woman was back and being irate. No charges were filed.
– An Ace Hardware employee reported at 1:15 p.m. Monday the business received a bad check for $772.1 from Anthony Dagati of Dagati Cleaning in Niles.
– A woman reported at 3:48 p.m. Monday a truck and trailer were partially blocking the road at Fairfield Avenue and Duquesne Street. Police checked but the vehicle was already gone.
– A man reported at 4:10 p.m. Monday there was an auction on Duquesne Street and people were parking on both sides of the street and he was unsure if a delivery vehicle would be able to get into his driveway. Police checked and found no parking violations.
– At 4:33 p.m. Monday police received several 911 hang up calls from a West Park Avenue home. Police were able to speak with the disorderly 17-year-old boy who made the calls.
SALEM TWP.
– Robert Stark, Lisbon Road, reported Saturday someone broke into his garage and stole a Stihl 044 24-inch chainsaw worth $900, a Stihl ms200 Arborist 16-inch chainsaw worth $650, a BG65 leaf blower worth $250 and a Lesco gas powered edge trimmer worth $300. A full inventory is pending to determine if anything else was taken.

– Charles Hamner, address not listed, reported at 12:28 p.m. Friday he lost $1,000 at Huntington Bank on North Park Avenue from the time he left the counter from the time he went back to his car and requested police check surveillance footage at the bank to see if someone took the money. Police checked but found no evidence of the money being stolen.
– A woman reported at 10:56 p.m. Thursday she just left moved her stuff out from her husband in the East Liverpool area and she wanted police to check and make sure her truck was still in the Days Inn parking lot. Police ran a background check on the woman, identified as Margie Collins, and found she had warrants out of Beaver Falls, Pa. She was taken to the Columbiana County Jail where she was to be picked up by Beaver County officials.
– Valeir Erwin, South Beaver Street, Lisbon, reported at 6:35 a.m. Thursday she could hear a man and woman in her basement. Police checked the basement and found no one.
– Police were called to an East Washington Street apartment at 12:26 a.m. Thursday and found Kirk and Pamela Sandoe and Kirk’s father Thomas Sandoe had been arguing with Thomas’ ex-wife/current live-in girlfriend Marie McDade. According to the report, Pamela Sandoe went downstairs in an attempt to get Thomas Sandoe to quiet down because the noise was disturbing their children upstairs and Thomas reportedly pushed Pamela and Kirk and then choked Pamela. The group told police that Thomas was intoxicated and confused at times. Police spoke with him and he appeared confused and upset and said that he must have blacked out at times, but that he was not arguing with Marie McDade, but Pamela had come into his apartment and he told her to leave but she refused so he pushed her out and then his son Kirk began to push him against the wall, at which point he pushed back. No charges were filed.
– Jimmy Davis reported at 7:35 p.m. Friday he believed his son had just overdosed with heroin at a West Lincoln Way home. Police went to the home and spoke with Justin Davis who admitted to using the drug. He was then taken to an area hospital.
– A Circle K manager reported at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 that Dakota Egnew, who had previously worked there stole $100 while they were working and that when he was confronted about the theft admitted to it and said he would pay it back, but he only ever paid $40 back and they can no longer contact him.
– Sherri Moore, North Market Street, reported at 1 p.m. Friday she had someone at her apartment that would not leave. The man wasn’t there when police arrived.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– BobbiJo R. Bowen, 39, Beloit, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash at state routes 14 and 534 at 2:48 p.m. Saturday in which she was northbound on state Route 534 and pulled from the stop sign, colliding with a westbound vehicle driven by Heather Poland, 41, Aliquippa, Pa. No injuries were reported.

PERRY TWP.
– A woman in the 1300 block of West State Street contacted police at 10 a.m. Monday about being bitten by her neighbor’s dog while she was picking up items in her yard. She believed the dog might have broken free from his chain and was roaming around the area. The dog ran off after the incident. Contact was made with the dog owner and it was learned the dog had not had its shots, but did have a dog license. Also, one of the owner’s dogs had been involved in a dog bite incident earlier this year in July. The current case was referred to the Columbiana County Dog Warden, as had the earlier case. The victim was told to check with her physician since the dog had not had shots.
– A resident on Brookview Drive reported at 7:49 a.m. Sunday that copper ground wires were removed from multiple utility poles in the area of Brookview Drive and Old Farm Lane sometime over the weekend. Officers saw three copper ground wires missing on Brookview and one on Old Farm Lane. The wires had been cut and removed from the ground level to about 7 feet up the pole.
– An officer on patrol at 9:28 a.m. Saturday made note of multiple missing township street signs in the Salem Heights area. Signs are missing at the following named intersections: Johnson at Florida, State Boulevard at Michigan, State Boulevard at Indiana, Grant at Ohio, Michigan at State Street, Michigan at state Route 14 and Ohio at state Route 14.
– An officer of the Pembrooke Association called at 9:03 a.m. Saturday to report damage to the mailbox pedestal located on Canterbury Lane within Pembrooke Estates. It appeared an unknown vehicle backed into the mailboxes and knocked them over, shearing the foundation bolts. The U.S. Post Office in Salem was notified.
– Lisa Mountz, of St. Jacob Logtown Road, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 10:42 a.m. Friday on state Route 45 and Georgetown Road. Her vehicle was towed. She and her passenger awaited their ride at the scene.
– The owner of Campf’s Service Company on Depot Road called at 10:14 a.m. Friday to report windows damaged overnight. An officer responded and found a window and door on the north side of the building appeared vandalized by a bb/pellet gun. No other damage was located at other buildings on the property.
– Police were called at 4:22 a.m. Friday to a fight at a residence in the 1300 block of Elberon Avenue. Police spoke with several people about what happened. Chelsea Marie McGuire, 21, of Salem, and Bobbi Sue Crookston, 26, of Salem, were each charged with disorderly conduct after they were found intoxicated and allegedly refused to calm down after several requests by police. They were processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail pending arraignment.

– A reckless operator was reported at 6:08 a.m. Monday in the 1000 block of West Perry Street. The vehicle was not located.
– An officer on patrol checked a water line break at 5:22 a.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Fairview Court. The water department was contacted after the break was found.
– Police assisted fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance on a medical call at 1:22 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Continental Drive, also standing by at the emergency room.
– A barking dog was reported at 1:13 a.m. Monday at Jennings Avenue and West Eighth Street. No dog was heard.
– A barking dog was reported at 10:31 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Jennings avenue, but no dog was found.
– An officer at 10:15 p.m. Sunday spoke with several people who were concerned for the well-being of an adult family member staying in Salem. The officer attempted contact with the person, but was unable to reach them, with plans to try again on Monday.
– Officers responded at 9:39 p.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a mental/disturbed person. A female was found laying in the grass talking to herself. KLG responded and she was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for an evaluation.
– Christy Keglor, 41, of 812 Barclay Ave., was taken into custody at her residence at 9:05 p.m. Sunday on an outstanding arrest warrant. She was turned over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
– Telecommunications harassment was reported at 8:22 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Prospect Street.
– A suspicious vehicle/person was reported at 7:22 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of West Pershing Street. Nothing criminal was found.
– Justin Bias, 29, of East Pidgeon Road, reported Sunday that a two-vehicle accident occurred between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 21 when he was stopped in traffic in the 500 block of West Pershing Street and another vehicle struck the rear of his vehicle. He said he exchanged information with the other driver who agreed to take care of the damages, but he hasn’t been able to get in touch with the other driver, who has not been replying to his calls. An officer will contact the other driver to advise of the potential for an assured clear distance ahead charge if action isn’t taken promptly to take care of the damages. The accident is under investigation.
– James Coffman, 44, of West Main Street, Washingtonville, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 4:18 p.m. Sunday on East Third Street. An officer on patrol had been checking random vehicle registrations and found a vehicle with a suspended registered owner. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

– Mark R. Menough, 54, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a two-vehicle crash in the 600 block of East Third Street at 12:53 p.m. Saturday in which he was westbound and struck the rear of a parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.
– An officer responded to a West Fourth Street home at 4:11 p.m. Saturday where a resident said he and two other members of the household had applied for an online loan which was granted on condition they send money grams to cover the taxes and provide a checking account routing number to receive the loan. He said they sent several hundred dollars in money grams, but did not receive the loan.
– An officer responded to a medical emergency at an East Fourth Street home at 6:21 p.m. Saturday and stood by until the person was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
– Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Lexington Avenue apartment at 7:40 p.m. Saturday, but found no violence, only an unruly juvenile who was told he had to abide by his parents rules until he was an adult.
– An officer responded to 2200 Merle Road at 7:45 p.m. Saturday for a report of several juveniles running around outside the building, but was unable to find anyone.
– Police responded to the 300 block of West Wilson Street at 10:18 p.m. Saturday for a report of a prowler, but were unable to find anyone suspicious.
– Officers responded to the rear of a business in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 10:49 p.m. Saturday for a report of a family preparing to remove items from the area. They were advised that the items were donated to the business and taking them would be considering theft. The said they were told it was okay, but left after affirming they needed to return during the day to buy the items.
– Officers responded to a South Howard Avenue home at 2:40 p.m. Sunday where someone reported a pair of new shoes had been stolen during a party at the residence over the weekend.
Columbiana
– Francis Blinsky, 68, was arrested for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing police business, aggravated menacing and assault following an incident on Pershing Street at 2:58 p.m. Saturday. Police were responding to a call from Cindy Cook when they showed up at the residence and asked Blinsky to step outside so they could speak with him. Blinsky reportedly refused and then lowered his shoulder and charged officer Bryan Granchie. He then grabbed and threw Granchie against a wall. Granchie and officer Kevin Kloss were able to gain control of Blinsky and take him into custody. The other charges had to do with Blinsky assaulting Cook, who sustained minor injuries, and reportedly saying he intended to get his gun.
-Callers reported there were two people going door to door Saturday afternoon without a solicitor’s permit. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the persons.
– A caller reported there was pickup truck parked in the 300 block of Union Street at 8:29 p.m. Saturday and had been there for a half hour. Police located the vehicle and saw it belonged to a repossession company. The vehicle left.

– An officer responded to a Sharp Avenue home at 7:43 p.m. Friday where the resident said his ex-girlfriend had been knocking at his door and he did not want her there. The ex-girlfriend was told not to return to home and she said she did not him at her home either. The man was advised.
– A patrolling officer was flagged down in the 700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:29 p.m. Friday regarding the well being of a male juvenile who appeared to have been assaulted. The officer spoke with the juvenile and found him to be okay.
– Cody S. Wilt, 24, Wellsville, was cited for driving under suspension and possession of marijuana paraphernalia following a traffic stop for a moving violation at Woodland Avenue and Maple Street at 11:05 p.m. Friday.
– Officers responded to an alarm activation at an 1800 Pearce Circle at 12:06 a.m. Saturday, but found the exterior of the residence secure. Officers returned at 11:36 a.m. for a second alarm activation and again found the exterior secure.
– Police responded to a 900 block Fair Avenue home at 1 a.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone had just broken out the front window of her home. Officers were unable to find anyone in the area.
– An officer responded to a 400 block South Union Avenue home at 1:09 a.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone around 1 a.m. had broken out the windows of the rear doors at the residence. The officer was unable to find anyone in the area.
– Police responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:13 a.m. Saturday where someone reported seeing a man on the hood of a car fall off and onto the roadway, then the vehicle flee the scene. Officers found the man still lying in the roadway. He was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
– Officers responded to the area of Woodland Avenue and Maple Street at 1:45 a.m. Saturday for a report of two people dressed all in black wearing ski masks and carrying baseball bats. They found no one in the area.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Franklin Avenue at 5:21 a.m. Saturday for two suspicious men in dark clothing plus the sound of glass breaking. They found several broken glass bottles in the roadway, but no property damage. They found no one in the area.
– Police responded to a reported water line break in the 1300 block of Franklin Avenue at 7:10 a.m. Saturday and found the leak just east of Southeast Boulevard. The water department was notified.
– Officers responded to the 400 block of Sharp Avenue at 11:40 a.m. Saturday where a resident reported finding the door of a neighboring vacant property open when it was closed the previous night. Officers found that someone had used an object to splinter the door, but found no one inside and no property damage.
– Police responded to the area of Cunningham Road and Bentley Drive at 1:23 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious vehicle in which the occupants exited the vehicle with a cage. An officer spoke with another witness who said it appeared the occupants were releasing an animal that they had apparently trapped. The vehicle was gone before officers arrived.

– A caller reported there was a male riding a bicycle and looking into the Burger King drive-thru window at 2:45 a.m. Friday. An officer located the male and determined everything was fine.
– Jacquelyn Sheffield, South Elm Street, Columbiana, called at 5:16 a.m. Friday because she wanted her boyfriend removed. Police arrived and escorted Robert J. Smith, 29, of East Liverpool, from the premises.
– The fire department provided mutual aid for a semi-trailer that caught fire in Beaver Township at 11:41 a.m. Friday.
– Fred Welshhans, West Southern Avenue, reported Friday a drunken Steve Armentrout entered his home without his permission and then fled in a maroon car. The information was referred to the county prosecutor’s office.
– A caller reported a dog was struck by a vehicle on state Route 164 near Arrowhead Lake at 4:54 p.m. Friday. Police were unable to locate the dog.
Lisbon
– A South Lincoln Avenue woman called at 1:31 p.m. Oct. 17 to report her 14-year-old son was out of control and that there was an altercation between the two. Police recommended charges be filed, but the mother declined to provide a statement or to send her son to the county juvenile detention facility. He was transported to his aunt’s home for the night.
– Police were asked to check on the welfare of a man who lives on North Market Street at 2:16 a.m. Friday. The man was drunk but otherwise fine.
– Melinda Shingler, East Washington Street, reported at 12:41 a.m. Thursday that she wanted Desiree Milliken removed from the residence because she was bothering her property and her dogs. Milliken is the girlfriend of Marcus Bowersock, who Shingler let move in because he had nowhere else to stay. Police told Shingler she would have to go through the formal eviction process since Bowersock could now claim this as his residence and Milliken as his guest.
– Marsha Brandt, North Jefferson Street, reported Oct. 19 someone posted her phone number with a comment online and she received a call from someone she does not know, who told her about the post.

– A police officer was given a lost wallet by an employee at the business at 1660 S. Lincoln Ave. at 5:55 a.m. Friday. The wallet was returned to the police department where it was placed in lost and found.
– Dylan J. Mills, East Third Street, reported at 12:29 a.m. Friday a domestic dispute was going on at a home on West School Street. When police arrived the woman had left, but was on the way back with her brother. She told police the argument occurred over an issue at a local bar. The man involved in the argument was angry she bought drinks for a few others, but not for him. No one was physically injured and she decided to stay at another location for the evening.
– An officer was driving in the 1100 block of East State Street at 3:04 a.m. Friday when he heard someone yelling vulgar language at him. Police stopped the man and warned him about his disorderly actions.
– Doug Moffet, North Ellsworth Avenue, reported at 3:44 a.m. Friday he heard someone walking around his home. Police checked the area around the house and the neighboring residence, but did not find anyone.
– Richelle L. Ameduri, East Fifth Street, reported she was driving northbound on South Lincoln at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and while approaching the red light at South Lincoln and East Pershing someone failed to stop and struck her vehicle from behind. Both vehicles drove into the Quaker Village lot. There was no damage to either vehicle and they left.
– Carol McDonald, Whinnery Road, Hanoverton, requested police assist her when she locked her keys in her vehicle in the 700 block of West State Street at 7:33 p.m. Thursday. Police were able to get inside without a problem.
– John Bridge, South Lincoln Avenue, reported someone knocking on his door at 8:56 p.m. Thursday. Police were unable to find anyone in the area.
– Robert C. Hall, North Madison Avenue, reported several suspicious men walking in the street and possibly looking into homes at 9:54 p.m. Thursday. Police talked to the men, but nothing suspicious was found.
– Police went to a home on Aetna Street looking for a person with an active warrant and one police officer saw him inside the back of the house at 11:21 a.m. Thursday. But at the front door a woman told another police officer he was not home. Police did make contact with the man, Joshua Blaine Petersen, 25, and took him into custody. Charges may be pending on a brother for obstruction.
– Michael Bibbee, South Broadway, reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the 100 block of Sharp Avenue at 1:51 p.m. Friday. It was found that the pickup belongs to a member of the construction crew working on the street paving.
– Police investigated a crash, which ended up in the parking lot of the Medical Arts Building at 1:43 p.m. Friday. Kevin Greathouse, Uniontown, reported he had just gotten into his vehicle in front of Kids Zone downtown when another vehicle struck the driver’s side mirror. The other vehicle left, and Greathouse chased him through town eastbound. One witness said the driver chasing the other was driving recklessly in the middle turn lane at a high rate of speed, nearly hitting other vehicles and blowing his horn. He was warned for recklessly driving and was very apologetic. The other driver, David Rice, Depot Road, Salem, said he did not realize he struck anything and that was why he continued on. There was a small scratch on his right side mirror and Greathouse’s mirror was knocked off.
– Police went to the 400 block of West State Street to deliver a message to a man at 9:06 a.m. Friday and found the man no longer lives there.

– Officers at 6:53 a.m. Thursday noticed a stop sign down at the corner of Sharp and Arch that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. The street department was called to fix the sign while officers did traffic control.
– A possible dispute was reported at 2:10 a.m. Thursday in the area of South Lincoln Avenue at Aetna Street. The caller was concerned his brother was going to confront a person and it would lead to a physical altercation. Officers checked the area but didn’t locate anyone.
– An officer at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday found a bank debit card in the police lobby drop box. The card was placed in lost and found.
– A woman in the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 9:28 p.m. Wednesday wanted a male removed from the residence. The man was already outside when police arrived and was told not to return.
– Police responded at 8:59 p.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of West Wilson Street for a loud music complaint. A juvenile son at the residence called to report his father playing loud music and it was bothering him. An officer spoke with the father and son and they said everything was fine now.
– The manager of a restaurant in the 200 block of East Second Street came to the station at 7:52 p.m. Wednesday and provided items he located in the office of his business that he believed had been left there for quite a long time. The documents were placed in lost and found.
– Police assisted the fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday with a female on Southeast Boulevard who took the wrong amount of medication. Due to other medical problems, she was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.
– A resident at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday reported locating a nylon duffle bag and plastic bag containing personal belongings in a municipal lot off of East Second Street and North Lincoln Avenue near Sugartree Alley. The items were taken to the police department for safekeeping until claimed by the rightful owner.
– An officer parked in a lot on Franklin Avenue at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday was approached by a woman about a dog with a chain running in the road near Franklin and Southeast Boulevard. The officer saw the dog but it ran through back yards and disappeared. The dog was then found at South Union Avenue and Franklin and the officer was able to catch it. The officer was advised of the location of the dog’s residence and dog and owner were reunited.
– Several solicitors were reported at 6:43 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of Washington Avenue. Police identified two females soliciting for Constellation Continuum allegedly on behalf of Ohio Edison and Columbia Gas. They did not have the proper permit and were told they needed to obtain one before soliciting door to door. They stopped soliciting and left the area.
– A barking dog was reported at 6:41 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue, but police did not hear any barking.
– Roger Geiser, 22, of Canfield, was cited for assured clear distance after his eastbound vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of the eastbound vehicle in front of him driven by a 17-year-old female from Franklin Avenue at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 5:53 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street. The caller believed the driver was participating in illegal activity. The vehicle left and could not be found.
– Margaret Pierce, 47, of North Benton, was charged with theft and obstruction of official business and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday for a shoplifter. While enroute, officers were told the alleged shoplifter left in a vehicle. The vehicle was located on East State Street nearby and stopped. The female was found to have stolen $495 worth of merchandise from the store. Walmart asset protection personnel responded to the scene to recover the merchandise and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
– A hit/skip was reported at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday possibly in the Walmart parking lot, with damage to the driver side rear bumper of a vehicle.
– Police were called at 4:46 p.m. Wednesday to Centennial Park for a report of possible criminal mischief. Several female juveniles possibly flooded the restroom. When approached, they said they found the restroom that way. Water was no longer running.
– A suspicious person was reported at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of North Lincoln Avenue. Police learned the suspicious person was hired by the caller’s husband.
– A possible scam was reported at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday by a Youngstown man who said someone gained entry to his email and tried to collect on false accounts. No accounts were filed and emails were corrected and cancelled.

– Heath Mathew Pennell, 31, Sebring, was cited for failure to yield the right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash at state routes 534 and 14 at 12:40 p.m. Oct. 19 in which he was westbound and pulled from the stop sign, striking a northbound vehicle driven by John T. McBride, 28, Northfield. No injuries were reported.
– Alison N. Suggett, 23, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash on Egypt Road at state Route 14 at 11:25 am. Oct. 21 in which she was approaching the intersection and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by David L. Greier, 49, Salem. No injuries were reported.
COLUMBIANA
– Someone reported at 8:27 a.m. Wednesday there was a fire behind the greenhouse on Columbiana-Waterford Road. Police found it was a controlled burn.
– Jon Woods, 7th Street, reported at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday someone stole his identity.
– Kenneth Witherow, Apache Lane, reported at 11 a.m. Wednesday his neighbor’s dog poked his head through his fence and he has already warned the neighbor about this in the past. Police told Witherow to contact his homeowner’s insurance.
– The Leetonia Fire Department requested assistance with a crash on state Route 558 near Leetonia Road at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday. The department specifically requested Columbiana’s pneumatic rescue tools.
– Brent Pontuti, Homestead Drive, reported at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday his 21-year-old daughter made suicidal threats. Police spoke with the woman and found she had made no actual threat to harm herself.
– Police found a car on fire at the state Route 14 truck stop at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday and notified the fire department.
– A woman reported at 8:47 p.m. Wednesday there was a man who could barely stand inside the Marathon gas station because he was so drunk and he was now inside a car parked in the fire lane. Police checked but the vehicle was already gone.
– Colette E. Steiginga, 20, New Waterford, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Duquesne Street at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday.
– Jason E. Snyder, 40, New Waterford, was charged with OVI following a traffic stop on McClosky Road at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday.

– An employee of the Re-Store at 1965 N. Ellsworth Ave. reported at 7:27 p.m. Tuesday that during an open house an unknown person entered the office and stole her wallet containing her driver’s license, bank cards and an unknown amount of cash. She was told to contact the card companies and banks to put a stop on the missing cards.
– Police assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a child removal at a residence in the 400 block of West Pidgeon Road at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday.
– A resident in the 1400 block of Johnson Avenue called at 4:29 p.m. Tuesday to report a suspicious person walking around knocking on doors. Police located a 30-year-old Barberton man selling subscriptions to the Vindicator newspaper door to door. He was told there’s no solicitation permitted in Perry Township. He was checked for warrants and sent on his way.
– Police responded at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday to Circle K on South Lincoln Avenue for a report of a small juvenile hanging out of a vehicle, but were unable to locate it.

– A woman reported at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday a dog was barking outside of 130 S. Elm Street. Police spoke with the resident and they brought the dog inside.
– Tom Komara reported at 10 a.m. Tuesday there was some kind of suspicious activity going on at the Lantern Square Apartments.
– Someone reported at 10 a.m. Tuesday there was a vehicle parked in a no parking zone at PNC Bank north. Police checked and found the vehicle was on private property and not violating any laws.
– Tom Varley reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday threats were being made by a former employee of a business located at 400 W. Railroad Street.
– Beth Phipps reported at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday she was pushed by a resident while putting new locks on an apartment at 107 W. Park Avenue. Police stood by while the resident removed her items from the apartment.
– Andrea Engel reported at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday there was a suspicious white van with two men inside on North Elm Street and the van let out two men in dark clothing. Police spoke with the driver of the van and found they were delivering phone books.

– A woman on Rose Avenue reported at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday that the key to her truck was taken from her house.
– A man at 8:57 a.m. Wednesday reported damage to a property on Quaker Lane, saying a truck apparently damaged the mailboxes at the end of a property in the 1900 block, including his father’s mailbox and some paperboxes on the posts. Tire marks could be seen leading off the road near the boxes and through a yard over a landscape area with rocks and plants, then across newly planted grass seed and across a newly cemented driveway, forming a crack from the truck’s weight on the far north corner of the driveway. A resident had seen a car hauler in the area Tuesday up the street which is rare for the residential neighborhood. The matter is under investigation.
– A man on Monroe Street reported at 8:03 a.m. Wednesday that someone entered his apartment and removed 72 pills from his kitchen area. He thought he had locked the front door but found it unlocked.
– An officer on patrol at 2:47 a.m. Wednesday stopped a man on a bicycle on South Union Avenue at East Pershing Street after seeing him riding in the street with no lighted lights on the front or rear of the bicycle as required. He also appeared to run the stop sign at the intersection of Pershing and Park Avenue. He was told the bicycle laws pertaining to riding at night and was given a warning.
– Police responded to Fernangle’s Tavern, 496 S. Broadway Ave., after Sue Baddeley called at 1:03 a.m. Wednesday requesting two of her patrons be removed from the establishment. Upon arrival, one person was found outside on a public sidewalk. The other male had already left. The owner said the two were being disrespectful. She called police back to the tavern at 1:23 a.m. to report a man was banging on the business windows. He was told by police to leave the area, which he did.
-A suspicious vehicle and suspicious activity was reported at 12:52 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of East Sixth Street where the caller thought a possible drug deal could be occurring inside the vehicle. Officers made contact with the two people inside the vehicle who said they lived a few houses down and just parked the car for the night. They were identified.
– A possible missing person was reported at 11:04 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue. A man said his adult sister could not be located. He was told his options.
– Police responded at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue where a person was requesting fire department first responders and EMT. He said he had fallen and struck his head on the sidewalk outside of an apartment. The person was intoxicated and officers affirmed it was accidental. He was taken by EMT to the emergency room.
– Thomas McClay, 45, of 1230 E Ninth St., was charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of East Ninth Street for a domestic situation. After an investigation, he was determined to be the primary aggressor by police.
– A woman advised at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday that while at her mother’s residence in the 1400 block of East State Street, she might have lost or had stolen her identification, bank card and other personal papers/cards. The cards were being cancelled.
– A woman in the 700 block of East Third Street reported at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday that a male known to her had been harassing her. An officer spoke to the male and told him to cease contact with her.
– A fight in progress was reported at 8:57 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Aetna Street. Officers located a man and woman arguing with another man on the sidewalk in front of a residence. The two males had been arguing with each other and one was the resident. The other two people, the man and woman, had been visiting. The dispute started inside and the female said the resident punched the other male in the mouth during an argument. The resident denied hitting the other male. He just wanted the other two to leave. Both males were intoxicated and the victim initially declined to pursue the matter, but called a short time later to say he changed his mind. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review for charges.
– A possible water line break was reported at 7:37 p.m. Tuesday on Merle Road, with the water department contacted.
– Carol Blubaugh, 76, of Southeast Boulevard, was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control after pulling from a parking lot in the 900 block of East State Street at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday and striking a parked vehicle facing east on East State Street. The parked vehicle was owned by Jeffrey Coil, 52, of Lisbon.
– A woman at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday came to the station to report a problem with a client at a local agency. She was advised of several options and said she would speak with her supervisor if the problem continues.
– Illegal parking was reported at 6:29 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Vine Avenue. Officers responded and saw no violations.
– Bruce Humphries, 66, of Sebring, was cited for a stop sign violation after his eastbound vehicle on West Wilson Street failed to stop for a stop sign located at Wilson and Sharp, striking a southbound vehicle on Sharp driven by Brian Carlisle, 48, of Damascus, at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday.
– An abandoned bicycle found on the sidewalk in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue at 4:51 p.m. Tuesday was taken to the police station.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of East Eighth Street, with the disagreement over money. All people involved were given options for handling the situation.
– An assault was reported at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard. The people involved were located and the information will be forwarded to the juvenile officer.

– City officers responded at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday to Salem Regional Medical Center at the request of Perry Township Police in reference to a township officer being assaulted by a patient. The officer said he was there on an unrelated incident and was bitten by a combative patient while attempting to restrain him at the request of the hospital’s security staff. The report said charges were pending against the patient, but Perry Township Police Chief Mike Emigh said when contacted that charges were not being pursued due to the patient’s impaired status. The patient had been transported to the hospital for an evaluation after township police were called to Apple Street for a mentally challenged person who was being unruly at 9:43 p.m. Monday.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of Penn Avenue to check on a report of possible shots fired at 11:29 p.m. Monday, but nobody was found.
– An open door on an unoccupied residence was reported at 10:06 p.m. Monday in the 1400 block of Quaker Lane. Officers checked the interior and found the residence secure. Officers were able to secure the door.
– Officers on patrol at 5:19 p.m. Monday saw a large pile of used tires that had been dumped at the city recycling bins.
– Bradley Deatley, 29, of Boardman, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanor counts, after police were called to Smith Oil, 968 E. State St., at 5:33 p.m. Monday for a possible overdose. On the scene, the person, later identified as Deatley, was treated by fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance. Officers recovered evidence at the scene. After the person was caught fleeing the hospital, he was placed in custody, released by the hospital and taken to the Columbiana County jail on the charges. Additional charges may be pending, dependent on the outcome of the lab results. A police spokesman said he was told the person had been in the store initially, then was found in the bathroom.
– A suspicious person/vehicle was reported at 8:57 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of East Fourth Street. No vehicles or persons were located in the area.
– Police responded to Dunkin’ Donuts, 855 W. State St., for a person to be removed at 8:49 p.m. Monday. The person was contacted and told that due to his actions, management was requesting that he leave. He complied and left with a friend.
– Anthony VanPelt, 39, of 14555 Germantown Road, Columbiana, was charged with failure to maintain reasonable control after his eastbound vehicle at 2:15 p.m. Monday struck the side of a parked unoccupied vehicle in the 600 block of Prospect Street.
– A man came to the station at 9:47 a.m. Monday to report losing his military identification and $175 to $210 in a bank envelope in a parking lot at Salem Regional Medical Center. He wanted it documented.
PERRY TWP.
– Police responded Tuesday morning to an Ansley Way residence where the resident reported receiving three emails from Walmart advising he purchased items in the Columbus area. He cancelled the credit cards and contacted Walmart, who advised it was fraud. The matter is under investigation.
– An unwanted person was reported at 10:10 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Grant Street. A man said his nephew was out of control and caused a gas leak inside the residence. Police notified the township fire department and police attempted to speak with the nephew who was unresponsive. EMT transported the nephew to Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation. The fire department arrived and checked the residence and shut off the gas.
– A caller at 7:06 p.m. Monday reported a man walking up and down the street in the 1200 block of East 11th Street. Police had no contact with anyone while checking the area.
– Police responded at 4:30 p.m. Monday to Cunningham Road near state Route 344 for an accident. A vehicle was traveling south on Cunningham Road following a semi truck when the truck hit a low-hanging branch causing the branch to fall and strike the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
– A resident in the 1200 block of Conser Drive reported at 3:05 p.m. Monday that a man was going door to door attempting to sell steaks. Police checked the area, but didn’t find the man.
– A man from West Pidgeon Road came to the station at 2:54 p.m. Monday to report medication stolen from his residence. The incident is under investigation.

– A resident reported at 4 p.m. Monday that he saw a vehicle pulled up to a speed limit sign and observed what appeared to be two teenage girls attempting to steal the 40 mph road sign and post on Lodge Road. He got on his 4-wheeler and was able to obtain a license plate number before the vehicle took off. The matter is under investigation.

– Jawna Stokes, 34, Union Street, reported at 10:20 a.m. Monday her purse was either lost or stolen and it contained a weapon she owns legally in addition to other items. Police checked the area but could not find the purse.
– A Kingwood Drive woman reported at 12:49 p.m. Monday she did not want her daughter’s boyfriend at the home and he continues to show up.
– Teresa Boord, Metz Road, reported at 5 p.m. Monday someone removed a silver heavy duty milk can from her front porch.
– A woman reported at 9:38 p.m. Monday a silver van appeared to be disabled near Arrowhead Lanes on state Route 164. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle.
– A Lakeview Drive woman requested at 11:54 p.m. Monday an officer be present when she returned home from work.

– Kathleen M. Watson, Lusk Lock Road, Lisbon, backed into a vehicle belonging to Helen M. Parker, Alice Street, East Palestine, in the Columbiana County Government Services Building parking lot at 11:46 a.m. Friday, causing the Parker vehicle’s fender to crack.
– Police were asked by a man to check on the welfare of his sister, who lives on West Washington Street, at 8:23 p.m. Sunday. The woman was not home but her son said she was fine and out with a friend after having attended church earlier in the day. The brother contacted police later to say he was finally able to speak with his sister, who was safe.
– A semi-trailer driven by Vaughan A. Fleming from Ontario, Canada, struck a utility pole at the corner of South Lincoln Avenue and West Maple Street at 7:39 p.m. Sunday, causing significant damage. The driver was found making a delivery at the Morning Journal and thought he might have struck the pole.
– Police were called to the Dollar General at 3 p.m. Saturday, where Mckynze Peed reported she was walking out of the store when a woman in the parking lot told Peed her vehicle had been struck by another motorist, who left the scene. The owner of the other vehicle was identified as Kim Davis, who was contacted and came to the police department. Davis said she was at the Dollar General but denied striking anyone. She said the damage on her side bumper came from hitting a deer.
-A resident of Apple Grove apartments reported seeing shadows at 3:15 a.m. Saturday and was frightened because she knows witches are real. Police checked around the apartment complex but did not find anyone lurking about.
– Whitney Lewis, North Beaver Street, reported Saturday her 32-inch TV and remote were missing. Two of the windows were found unlocked, but Lewis was sure all of the windows and the door were locked.
-William Hawthorne, Vine Street, reported Friday he let his friend Kevin, who lives at the corner of East Chestnut Street, borrow his $200 coat, but now Hawthorne wants it back. Police went to the residence and Kevin’s brother gave them the coat to give to Hawthorne.

– Police were called at 7 p.m. Sunday to the 1200 block of Jones Drive for a report of a loose dog acting aggressively. The dog ran from police and began acting aggressively toward officers. The dog charged at a resident and officer before being corralled by the owner, Marie Smith, 40, of Jones Drive, who was charged with dogs running at large.
-Police initiated a traffic stop at 3:48 a.m. Sunday on Depot Road near Blossom where a vehicle appeared to be attempting to duck police. Brent Trey Miller, 30, of Kensington, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and driving under suspension. The vehicle was towed.
-A resident on Southridge Drive flagged down an officer at 12:56 p.m. Saturday to turn over some old ammunition for disposal.
– Police responded at 11:36 p.m. Friday to Cliff Drive after two 911 hangup calls were reported. The adult daughter said her mother had a reaction to prescription medication and her father transported her to the emergency room.

– Brent Pontuti, Royal Birkdale Drive, reported at 1:16 a.m. Sunday his 21-year-old daughter Katlyn Pontuti has been missing since Thursday.
– Ralph Coblentz, state Route 164, reported at 9:34 p.m. Sunday the people who were formerly renting at a Union Street home he owns broke in after he had the locks changed.

– An alarm was reported at 4:50 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Second Street where officers found an open front door in the southeast corner of the building. The interior was searched and found unoccupied.
– Officers were asked at 12:26 a.m. Monday to check the welfare of a 21-year-old woman in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue by her parents. Officers spoke with a different female at the apartment who said the woman was at the residence earlier but left.
– Stevie House, of the 1400 block of Ridgewood Drive, reported at 12:09 a.m. Monday that a large rock had just been thrown through her front window on the north side of the house. Officers saw a large rock on the living room floor and the large front window broken. They checked the area but nobody was found. Several pumpkins were found smashed on surrounding streets.
– Loud music was reported at 9:16 p.m. Monday in an apartment complex in the 800 block of East Third Street. Police heard no music or noise.
– Several suspicious people in dark clothing were reported at 8:16 p.m. Sunday outside a residence in the 400 block of Franklin. Officers checked the residence and yard and adjoining yards but didn’t seen anyone. Nobody was located during subsequent checks either.
– Ellie Young reported at 6:38 p.m. Sunday that someone entered her vehicle in the 1500 block of East Third Street without permission and took money and cigarettes. She was told her options.
– A traffic signal malfunction was reported at 6:12 p.m. Sunday at East Pershing Street and South Lincoln Avenue. An anonymous caller said the light was not turning from red to green. An officer observed the traffic light for a few cycles and found it functioning properly.
– Officers on patrol noticed at 6:06 p.m. Sunday that unknown people illegally dumped several items at the deadend at Butcher Road near East Pershing Street.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 5:15 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West Pershing Street. An officer advised the neighbor causing the disturbance to stay off of the property in question or be arrested. Both people were told to call police and not attempt to handle the situation themselves if there’s another dispute.
– An officer in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 4:56 p.m. Sunday noticed two small juveniles unattended in a running vehicle. Their father was located and told about the problem. Information was collected for the juvenile officer and Children Services.
-A theft was reported at 4:35 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue.
– A woman from the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard reported at 4:24 p.m. Sunday that her stepdaughter was accusing her of theft.

– An officer assisted Perry Township Police at its station on North Ellsworth Avenue at 4:32 a.m. Sunday as a witness.
-Joseph Bradford, 37, of 12221 Main St., was taken into custody on an arrest warrant from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on a child support charge after police followed up a stolen vehicle investigation at 4:18 a.m. Sunday at Salem Regional Medical Center. An officer at 2:28 a.m. saw a green Dodge Journey parked at the hospital that had been reported stolen to the Sheriff’s Office and conducted an investigation with the security department. The male who had been seen exiting the vehicle was located inside the hospital and police found the active warrant. Bradford was turned over to a deputy and the vehicle was towed from the scene, with the incident related to its alleged theft under investigation.
– An alarm was reported at 4:06 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue. The exterior was secure.
– Police responded to the 100 block of Ohio Avenue at 2:24 a.m. Sunday to assist Columbiana Police with locating a female. The address included multiple apartments and the other department was unable to provide an apartment number, so the female was not found.
– Police were called at 11:21 p.m. Saturday to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street for a man with an unknown problem. Officers spoke to the man who said he was lost and needed to get home. He was given assistance in getting home.
– A woman reported a vehicle in a no parking zone in the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 8:42 p.m. Saturday, but when police responded, they found the vehicle legally parked.
– An unattended fire was reported at 5:58 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue. An officer made contact with someone at the residence who said he would take care of the problem.
– A reckless operator was reported at 3:45 p.m. Saturday in a red GMC Envoy in the 2300 block of East State Street in the parking lot going from Wendy’s to Tractor Supply. The vehicle was not located.
– A parking complaint was reported at 2:26 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge. The owner was contacted and moved the vehicle.
– Officers at Salem Regional Medical Center at 2:09 p.m. Saturday investigating an incident found that the victim had an active warrant for his arrest from Manatee County, Florida. Jerry Mathis Jr., 35, of Walnut Street, was taken into custody, charged as a fugitive from justice and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– Police were called to a residence in the 500 block of Walnut Street at 1:23 p.m. and learned that a man had gone to get his roommate’s pills at Walmart and while there noticed a male he knew with an unknown male. He left with the medication and had his ride drop him off at Sparkle Market to get other items. While walking through the lot, the known male he had seen at Walmart was being driven by the unknown male and they drove up to him. The vehicle allegedly stopped on his left foot and while he was trapped, the known male reached into his coat pocket and took the medication out. The known male had a small paring knife with a rounded broken blade and cut him on his right hand. The two males then took off southbound on Lundy Avenue, making a right turn to head west on Franklin at a high rate of speed. They almost struck someone on the sidewalk. The man was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.

– Police attempted to check on a group of teenagers near Heartland Christian schools at 3:25 a.m. Saturday but they fled.
– Someone reported at 4:13 a.m. Saturday a suspicious man in a white jacket was on Fairfield Road near Duquesne. Police checked the area but did not find the man.
– Linda Gilmore, Burgettstown, Pa., was stopped in traffic eastbound on state Route 14 at 10:48 a.m. Saturday and Jacob Ward, Columbiana, who was also eastbound failed to stop in time and struck Gilmore. Ward was cited into juvenile court for assured clear distance.
– James Hanlon, Columbiana, was northbound on South Main Street at 11:17 a.m. Saturday and was struck by Glenn Dennison, Columbiana, who was pulling from a parking spot and failed to see Hanlon. Dennison was cited for improper backing.
– Terry Becker requested at 4:41 p.m. Saturday police stand by while he exchanged his child with his ex-girlfriend. There were no problems during the exchange.
– Megan Mercer and Bill Styer of Columbiana requested at 5:59 p.m. Saturday police assist them with a dispute. Mercer told police she wanted Styer’s phone and wanted him out of the car.
– Shawn Reynolds, 23, East Liverpool, was arrested on a warrant through the county at 8:40 p.m. Saturday on East Park Avenue. He was released to a deputy.
– Police were called to a Fairfield Avenue home at 11:58 p.m. Saturday for a report of a heroin overdose. Police assisted EMS with an investigation.

– Police attempted to find a juvenile on Fairfield Avenue at 3:26 p.m. Friday but were not successful.
– Tracey Spooner, Blueberry Drive, requested at 4 p.m. Friday police speak with her daughter about her behavior.
– East Palestine police requested at 7:38 p.m. Friday police assist New Middleton with stopping a possible stolen vehicle on state routes 7 and 14.
– A woman reported at 7:22 p.m. Friday a man had possibly assaulted a woman in the Arby’s parking lot. Police checked but did not find the couple.
– Heather R. Welsh, 17, state Route 558, Leetonia, was northbound on North Main Street at 4:45 p.m. Thursday and approaching state Route 14 and struck William C. Yartz III, 23, Warren, who was also northbound. It was discovered the brakes had malfunctioned on Welsh’s vehicle and no citations were issued.
– An unoccupied vehicle owned by Wendy Sternberg, 57, New Waterford, was legally parked in a space at Save-A-Lot at 11:12 a.m. Thursday and Justin Risher, 38, Kinsman, was driving a truck owned by Hogan Truck Leasing when he backed into the lot and struck Sternberg’s vehicle. No citations were issued due to being on private property.
– Wilma Rapp, 86, Columbiana, was attempting to exit onto Fairfield Avenue at 11:13 a.m. Thursday and did not see a vehicle driven by Margaret LaMoncha, 91, Columbiana, heading south on Fairfield Avenue and the two vehicles collided. Rapp was cited for failure to yield.
– Police spoke with the resident of 130 N. West Street about a parking issue at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
– A woman reported at 6:30 p.m. Thursday a man in a white Chevy Tahoe with a dealer plate pulled over in the Old Lake Front parking lot and he got out of the vehicle and began to urinate. Police checked but could not find him.
– A woman reported at 6:50 p.m. Thursday there was a tire in the middle of state Route 14. Police checked but the tire was moved.
– Gary Matthews, Fairfield Avenue, reported at 7:25 p.m. Thursday he arrived home to find several items stolen from his vehicle.
– A man reported at 7:39 p.m. Thursday he saw a dog run in front of a car on Lisbon Street and it was struck and still on the road. Police found the dog and removed it from the road and its owner was notified.
SALEM
– A drive-off was reported at 9:41 a.m. Saturday at Smith Oil, 900 block of East State Street, involving a white Dodge car and $34.59 worth of gasoline.
– A resident in the 400 block of Sharp Street reported at 9:24 a.m. Saturday that someone took a Halloween mask from a decoration off of their porch.
– Rebecca Devlin, 21, of West 16th Street, was cited with failure to yield after her westbound vehicle on West Wilson Street stopped for a stop sign and then pulled into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Bruce Wyss, 56, of North Benton, on Sharp Street, causing a collision at 9:17 a.m. Saturday.
– A residential interior alarm was reported at 4:54 a.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue. Officers found the outside of the residence locked and secure. The owner could not be reached.
– Officers and fire department first responders answered a medical call at 1:46 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West Eighth Street. The person was transported by EMT Ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A woman in the 700 block of East Fifth Street called in parking complaints at 1:22 a.m. Saturday and at 11:20 p.m. Friday, but both times police found the vehicle in question legally parked.
– Loud music was reported at 12:13 a.m. Saturday at Orchard Street and Olive Street, with the caller saying it sounded like someone was playing the drums. Officers checked the area, but didn’t hear any loud music or noise.
– A verbal dispute was reported at 10:04 p.m. Friday in a parking lot in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. A woman said she and her juvenile daughter had an argument but they calmed down. No physical violence occurred.
– A resident in the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue reported at 8:52 p.m. Friday that he recently hired a prostitute out of the Youngstown area in hopes of performing a citizen’s arrest so he could bust up the illegal prostitution ring. He said he paid $325 and the person had taken his money and left before he could put the cuffs on them. The people in question are now asking him for more money due to one of the persons suffering an injury while at his residence. He was told his options and also was advised of the dangers of illegally detaining people.
– Police were called at 8:42 p.m. Friday to the 400 block of Franklin for a suspected drunk driver. Police found the driver was not intoxicated and gave the person a verbal warning for marked lanes.
– At the request of Children Services from Maryland, officers responded at 7:48 p.m. Friday to the 900 block of Jones Drive to check on the welfare of a juvenile. The juvenile was found to be ok.
– An anonymous caller at 7:11 p.m. Friday reported a man was intoxicated and the caller believed he was using his underage son to drive the vehicle in the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue. The vehicle was not found.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 6:31 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of West State Street. The caller said an intoxicated female may have been getting ready to drive a vehicle from the parking lot. An officer found that she was not driving and there was a sober driver.
– A juvenile problem was reported in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue at 5:41 p.m. Friday. A woman said her juvenile daughter was yelling and screaming and refusing to listen. Officers spoke to her and told her she needed to stop her actions and go to her room, which she did.
– A tree was reported down in an alley in the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 5:24 p.m. Friday. The street department was contacted to remove the tree.
– Tyler Buckius, 18, of South Union Avenue, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after the northbound vehicle he was driving on South Lincoln Avenue in heavy traffic collided with the rear of another northbound vehicle driven by Patricia Bates, 63, of Canfield, who had stopped in traffic for a red light at 3:58 p.m. Friday.

– A representative of Mt. Calvary Cemetery on Grafton Road reported at 7 p.m. Thursday that someone attempted to gain entry into the maintenance building and caused damage to the door. Alarms on the chapel and maintenance building did not go off. No entry was made.
– A resident on Butcher Road reported at 12:30 p.m. Thursday that on Oct. 11 or 12, someone hacked into her relative’s cell phone account through AT&T and bought two cell phones for $2,500.
– Constable Dan Valentine announced trick or treat in Salem Township will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.

– Robert J. Kastonek, 31, 317 N. Madison Ave., Salem, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to control, reckless operation and a marked lanes violation after officers responded to the 600 block of Park Avenue at 8:16 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a vehicle striking a house. Officers found that the vehicle eastbound on Maple Street had traveled off the left side of the roadway, crossed over Park Avenue and struck the house. Kastonek fled the scene on foot, but officers were able to identify him by witness descriptions. He was found later that night and taken into custody.
– Scott A. Cunningham, 44, Lisbon, was cited for no motorcycle endorsement following a crash in a 2900 East State Street parking lot at 4:02 p.m. Thursday in which he was traveling east through the lot and was struck by a vehicle driven by Ivy Ann Miller, 20, Lisbon, who was backing from a parking space. Cunningham was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
– Police responded to a Morris Avenue home at 4:26 p.m. Thursday where the owner reported someone had entered the home without permission and removed several items.
– Gregory L. Harper, 45, North Benton, was cited for open container in a motor vehicle following a traffic stop in the 900 block of East State Street at 5:20 p.m. Thursday.
– An East Fourth Street resident reported being attacked by his wife and another man, who exited a vehicle while he was walking in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:14 p.m. Thursday. Several minor injuries were observed. The man said he was in the process of getting a protection order against his wife.
– A South Lincoln Avenue resident reported at 10:02 p.m. Thursday that he had been receiving telephone calls from someone claiming to be from the IRS. The man was advised it was a scam and to not give away any information.
– An officer responded to a West Pershing Street home at 10:41 p.m. Thursday where a woman reported a man she knows had made several threats toward her several weeks ago and wanted it documented.
– An officer responded to a West Fifth Street home at 9:46 a.m. Friday for a report of a possible smell of chemicals used in the manufacture of meth. The officer found no smell.
– Police responded to a West Wilson Street home at 10:05 a.m. Friday to perform a well being check on a man whose sister said his wife was unable to contact him. The man was not found at the home.
– An officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at an East Third Street home at 11 a.m. Friday and found an employee of the Columbiana County Land Renewal checking the home for hazardous materials.
– An officer responded to a Jones Drive home at 3:17 p.m. Friday to perform a well being check, but found no one home.
– An officer responded to an East Fourth Street multi dwelling at 3:23 p.m. Friday where a woman reported a man who was moving out had used an expletive in telling his wife to strike her with a buggy while they exited an elevator. The man denied the accusation and said he would speak to the manager about the incident. He was advised to try to avoid the woman.
– Police responded to a report of a woman unresponsive following a seizure in the 400 block of Vine Street at 3:26 p.m. Friday and found her breathing. She was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center.

– An officer responded to the area of Ridge and Madison streets at 6:21 p.m. Sept. 19 in reference to children riding a golf cart and bicycles into the roadway and causing a hazard to motorists. The children’s parents were advised to supervise the children.
– Police responded to a report of a suspicious man in a Columbia Street business attempting to solicit money from patrons and acting in an abnormal way at 5:23 p.m. Sept. 21. The man was unable to provide identity and was asked to leave the business.
– A Salem resident filed a complaint on station at 8:54 p.m. Sept. 21 and was advised that it was civil in nature and told he should contact an attorney.
– An officer assisted Washingtonville police with a warrant arrest in the 300 block of Union Street at 10:06 p.m. Sept. 21.
– A 300 block Columbia Street resident reported the theft of a pistol and ammo, plus a flat screen television still in the box, from his residence at 11:25 a.m. Sept. 24.
– An Anglemyer Street resident reported at 5:52 p.m. Sept. 25 that he had been bitten by his neighbor’s dog and had to be treated at a local medical center. The Columbiana County Dog Warden and health department were notified of the incident, and the owner provided shot records for the dog.
– Shawna Purnell, 35, 5900 state Route 164, Lisbon, was charged with disorderly conduct after acting in a disorderly manner during a Lil’ Bears event at the school at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 26. Her husband, Michael Purnell, 36, Boardman, was also charged with persistent disorderly conduct after arriving at the event with his children less than an hour later in regards to his wife’s arrest and started acting disorderly around parents and children.
– Police received a report of a female receiving unwanted texts at 8:18 p.m. Sept. 26.
– An officer assisted Washingtonville police on a domestic dispute at a Union Street home at 9:55 p.m. Sept. 28.
– An officer at 8:09 p.m. Sept. 29 took a report of a 12-year-old girl receiving inappropriate photos via Facebook.
– An officer assisted Washingtonville police with a traffic stop at West Main and School streets at 5:59 p.m. Sept. 30 in which one of the occupants had an active warrant and the other was unidentifiable.
– An officer responded to a Ridge Street home at 10:09 a.m. Oct. 3 in reference to a domestic altercation and dog bite. Leetonia EMS also responded, but the injured individual refused to be transported to a hospital.
– A Front Street resident reported at 3:10 p.m. Oct. 5 the theft of five tarps and seven ratchet chain binders from his semi-trailer parked in the lot at Columbia and Chestnut streets.
– An officer responded with Leetonia EMS to a Somer Street home at 11:25 p.m. Oct. 5 where a man had reportedly passed out, was vomiting and having trouble breathing. The man was transported to the hospital.
SALEM
– The owner of an auto repair shop at 291 S. Lincoln Ave. reported at 8:34 a.m. Thursday that unknown persons threw a glass ice tea bottle through the rear window of a vehicle in the fenced-in parking lot to the west of the building. The vehicle belongs to a customer.
– A woman at a business at 339 S. Broadway Ave. reported at 8:22 a.m. Thursday that unknown persons used apples from a tree on a neighbor’s property and broke out numerous windows from the garage door at the back of the business. Apples and glass were found all over the inside.
– Police responded at 6:09 a.m. Thursday to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a report of drug paraphernalia and a follow-up to a past incident from a woman who had some questions. She found what she thought was drug paraphernalia in her residence, but was advised it was not.
– A security alarm was reported at 2:36 a.m. Thursday at a business in the 1700 block of East State Street. The building was found secure.
– A woman from a business at 13655 Benton Road called at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday regarding a possible unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A man rented the vehicle but had not returned it. She was notified later that the vehicle was located.
– Police responded at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of Columbia Street where a resident wanted a male removed who allegedly forced his way inside the home. A knife was also allegedly involved. The pocket knife was on a table while the person was upstairs and was not brandished or used in a threatening manner. The resident said they used to date and he purchased some gifts for her that he now wanted back. He told police he didn’t give her the items as gifts and since they were no longer together, he wanted the items back. He denied kicking in the door, claiming she opened it and he walked in, which the officer said was still defined as burglary. The officer also saw a fresh mark on the door consistent with footwear tread. The resident said she had no issue with him taking the items. She didn’t want to pursue any charges and only wanted him to not return. He gathered his stuff and was told if he returns, he’ll face criminal charges.
– An audible alarm was reported at 6:16 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of West Fifth Street. The residence was found secure.
– A man reported at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday that he and his girlfriend were in the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue when two people known to them exited a vehicle and verbally harassed them. Officers spoke to the other people and told them to cease contact.
– Curtis Schewirey, 20, of Canfield, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his eastbound vehicle struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle driven by Kenneth Lotze, 72, of Washingtonville, at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday on East State Street at Cunningham Road. There were no injuries reported.
COLUMBIANA
– Charles Reaggle, South Bay Shore Drive, reported at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday he was in a domestic with his ex-girlfriend Connie Rosenlieb.
– Police immobilized a vehicle belonging to James Donnalley, 26, on South Main Street after receiving a court order from the Mahoning County Court at 4:37 p.m. Wednesday.
– A Duke and Duchess store clerk reported at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday a man and woman with a young child were arguing in the store. Robert Norman III, 33, Smithfield, and Melissa Dennis, 30, Brilliant, spoke with police and were then sent on their way.
LISBON
– Police were called to West Park Street at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday for a report that someone was trying to sell coins to the customers at Geronimos. Police stopped a vehicle that was found leaving the store and spoke with the occupants who said they were trying to sell coins but they were going to a coin shop that they had called to sell them.
– Rose Eichler, East Washington Street, reported at 3 p.m. Tuesday she had two cards stolen from her purse while at another East Washington Street home and believed they were taken by her neighbor. Police spoke with the neighbor who admitted the theft and said she had already paid back $29 of the $50 she took.
– Someone reported at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday two people were sleeping in a car at Save-A-Lot. Police spoke with the man and woman who said they were working midnights and were tired so they pulled over.
– Lindsay Combs reported at 10 a.m. Wednesday she was having a verbal dispute with her sister Jessica Combs on East Washington Street. Lindsay Combs told police she let her sister and her three kids move in to help them out, and her sister is not paying any bills and not helping with the house. Lindsay told police she just wanted her sister to help out. Jessica Combs told police she was working until Tuesday and was trying to take care of her children, and she was planning on moving out soon. Police told her she still needed to help around the house until she moved out. The women agreed to work things out. Police were called back to the home later for a report that Jessica left the stove on and burnt something. Linsday also told police that her sister head-butted her and requested she leave. Jessica told police she would leave with her children.
– Police were called the Columbiana County Mental Health parking lot on state Route 154 at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday for a report that woman was out of control and being abusive. Police followed her home to make sure there were no more problems.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– William S. Benton, 31, Girard, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to a Lisbon Road business at 2:26 p.m. Oct. 8 where he had allegedly spit in his girlfriend’s face then struck her in the eye, causing a bruise, during a dispute. He left the scene on foot and was arrested by Girard police on Oct. 10.
– Timothy Nicholas Thompson, 27, 673 E. Third St., Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after striking a deer with his vehicle while westbound on state Route 165 near Beaver Street at 2:25 a.m. Oct. 9. Green Township EMS responded to evaluate Thompson for injuries, but found him to be uninjured.
– Gregory K. Lucas Jr., 23, 17000 W. Middletown Road, North Benton, was cited for no driver’s license after eluding an officer who observed his vehicle pulled to the side of the road on state Route 14 near Middletown Road at 4:50 p.m. Monday. The officer attempted to stop Lucas, who said he ignored the attempt since he was so close to home and did not want the vehicle towed.
SALEM TWP.
– Jeffrey M. Steiskal, Leetonia Road, Leetonia, reported at 10:03 a.m. Tuesday several items were missing from his farm property he rents out. The items included a Pequea dump trailer, a three-point hitch style generator and a haywagon with running gear were found to have been sold at Rogers Flea Market without his permission. The matter is under investigation.
– Jeffrey S. Little, state Route 558, Leetonia, reported at 9:06 a.m. Saturday someone stole two truck batteries, two car batteries, two aluminum rims and about a pound of scrap copper. He located the items at a scrap yard. Deputies spoke to the people Little suspected of stealing the items and they admitted taking them. He declined to prosecute, but asked deputies to inform them they are not permitted on his property.
– Ginny Harahue, state Route 344, Salem, reported at 8:01 p.m. Wednesday she heard noises around her home between midnight and 3 a.m. Then the next morning she found cigarette butts in the drive and out near the mailbox.

SALEM
– A woman in the 700 block of Liberty Street reported at 2:38 p.m. Wednesday that she’s been getting numerous threatening phone calls from a man claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service advising that she owes money and if she doesn’t pay then they’ll have a warrant for her arrest. She said it’s a scam and she wanted others to know not to fall for it. She was told to contact the phone company and have the number blocked. Salem Police noted on the department Facebook page about a recent increase in the number of these phone calls reported regarding the IRS scam, referring residents to the IRS website for details about the scam. The IRS does not call on the phone demanding money or threatening arrest. Residents need to be leery of people calling on the phone and asking for money. With this scam and other scams, the caller requests payment via a money card that can be purchased at local stores. If unsure about a phone call, request a call back number and call police for guidance.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East State Street where three people were seen standing around a vehicle looking in the trunk for a long period of time. Police were unable to find the vehicle.
– A man came to the station regarding a civil matter at 12:39 p.m. Wednesday, reporting he purchased an item off of Salem Area Buy-Sell-Trade and it would not work properly. He just wanted it documented.
– Police were called at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue to check the well-being of a woman wanting to harm herself. She told police she didn’t want to do that and appeared to be of sound mind and was polite.
– A cell phone found on a bench in front of a store in the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue was brought to police at 8:48 a.m. Wednesday and placed in the dispatch area.
– Police were called at 2:09 a.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue for a disturbance outside a local bar. Officers determined the call was an assault, but neither party would provide any information. They didn’t want to pursue the matter.
– Police were called at 11:13 p.m. Tuesday for a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian accident which occurred in the 200 block of Rose Avenue. A man was walking north on Rose and was struck by a gray Ford Taurus. The vehicle fled the scene. The man was able to walk home but was in a lot of pain and when officers arrived at his residence, he was laying on the floor. EMT Ambulance transported him to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– An alarm was reported at a business on Prospect Street at 10:34 p.m. Tuesday, but the building was found secure. An audible alarm was reported at 10:31 p.m. at another business in the city, with officers checking the building and finding everything secure. Police were called at 8:12 p.m. to the 1100 block of Salem Parkway for a security alarm. Officers checked the exterior of the building and saw nothing out of the ordinary.
-A private property motor vehicle accident was reported at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday when a driver pulled into a parking lot and struck a guide wire, then saw sparks coming from the wires on the pole in the area of Mullins Street and Newgarden Avenue. Ohio Edison was notified. Police had been called to the area of Newgarden Avenue and the railroad crossing for a report of a possible electrical problem which resulted from a power surge which was determined to be a result of the minor accident. The incident was also blamed for possibly triggering several alarm drops.
– An officer on patrol at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday saw a person down in the 800 block of East State Street and checked on them with fire department first responders. The person was not injured and refused medical treatment.
– A reckless operator was reported at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Newgarden Avenue near the city limits. The caller reported two vehicles were seen possibly getting ready to race, but police found none.
– An alarm was reported at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Hickory Lane, but the home was secure.
– A reckless operator was reported at 5:43 p.m. Tuesday on Pearce Circle, reportedly in a gray mini van speeding through the area a few times the past week. The vehicle was not found.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 5:33 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of East State Street. The driver was located in the parking lot of a local business and reported being distracted by a cell phone. No sign of intoxication was observed. The driver was told the consequences of using a phone while driving.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 4:21 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East Third Street where two people were present at a condemned home. Police spoke with the owner who said she had permission to be there to fix up the residence. No one is living there at this time.
LISBON
– Police were called to the homeless shelter on Maple Street at 7:47 p.m. Tuesday for a report that a man was receiving multiple calls from a woman who used to live there. The man told police the calls were not threatening but persistent. Police called the woman and told her to stop contacting the man.
– A Smith Oil employee reported at 12:34 p.m. Monday a man pumped $32.95 in gas and told them he forgot his wallet and provided his information to the clerk, including the license plate of his vehicle and claimed he was coming back to pay but never did. Police checked the address the man provided to the clerk and spoke with a male resident who said he did not know the man and did not own an orange Jeep Liberty. Police ran the license plate number given to Smith Oil and the information did not match that of an orange Jeep Liberty. Police were also able to determine that the man who spoke with the clerk did not own a Jeep Liberty.
– Police were called to the Kendall House on state Route 154 at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday for a report that a resident had marijuana. Police spoke with the man who admitted to having a joint in his cigarette pack. The joint was confiscated and the man was told he could face charges.
– Police were called to 363 E. Pine St. at 7:15 p.m. Monday after James Landfried reported three pumpkins and a gourd were taken from his yard.
COLUMBIANA
– A Burger King employee reported at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday there was a suspicious vehicle outside the building and requested a police escort for the employees. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
– An Arby’s employee reported at 10:42 a.m. Tuesday a man in a black Ford Focus was sitting in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the last three days and requested police find out why he was there. Police found it was William Kimpel and he was using their wireless Internet. Police told Arby’s management to notify the department if they had any further issues or wanted him to leave.
– Constance Freeman, 32, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday.
– Mark Beck, South Elm Street, reported at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday someone used his identity to get a loan.
– Krista Marie Keyes, 22, West High Street, Lisbon, was northbound on North Main Street at 5:33 p.m. Tuesday and approaching state Route 14 when she collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Charlann M. Glenn, 33, Chapel Lane, Canfield. Keyes was cited for assured clear distance.
– Taylor Jones, Firestone Avenue, reported at 6 p.m. Tuesday someone was making threats.

– Police were called at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of Buckeye Avenue and Ellsworth Avenue to attempt to locate a 7-year-old boy who walked away from Buckeye Elementary School. A teacher located the child just as officers arrived in the area and he was taken back to school.
– A man in the 300 block of West Pershing Street reported at 2:24 p.m. Tuesday that his wallet was stolen. He had his wallet on the back porch Monday night and on Tuesday he went to get it after accidentally leaving it out on the porch and it was gone. Someone used his debit card for a $2 purchase at the Shell gas station in Leetonia. The wallet had contained his debit card, identification cards and $20 cash. He said a male neighbor was out on the porch with him Monday night.
– A woman in the 400 block of Arch Street reported a case of identity theft at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, saying that she left town on Friday and received two text alerts on her phone that two transactions had been made on her debit card at a Walmart in Forest City, North Carolina for $104.48 each for a total of $208.96. She contacted her bank and cancelled the card.
– A woman in the 400 block of Continental Drive reported at 11:53 a.m. Tuesday that she’s being harassed by her ex-landlord. She’s aware that they owe the landlord money and agreed to pay it, but said she needs more time. She was told the female in question will be contacted and told to cease her actions.
– Mariana Benner, of the 300 block of Washington Avenue, reported at 11:21 a.m. Tuesday that unknown persons overnight knocked over her trash dumpster on the curb lawn, broke her mailbox flag and removed it, removed some solar lights from the railing and threw a flag at her downstairs window causing damage to the screen. Nothing appears stolen except for the mailbox flag.
– Marcus John Portice, of the 400 block of Ohio Avenue, reported at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday that overnight some unknown person used a cement block from the fire pit to smash the front windshield of his Durango and put a dent in the left front quarter panel. The same block was used to put a dent in the right front quarter panel of a Jeep on the property. Both vehicles were parked at the back of the property in the yard area.
– Victor Gonzales, 47, of East Fourth Street,, was cited for a stop sign violation and expired license after his westbound vehicle on Franklin failed to stop for the stop sign at South Ellsworth Avenue and struck a northbound vehicle on Ellsworth driven by Hannah Atkinson, 19, of East 14th Street. at 8:31 p.m. Monday.
– An officer at 7:45 p.m. Monday saw an open bay at a business in the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue and made contact with a person inside, affirming everything was in order.
– An officer at 7:44 p.m. Monday saw an open door at a closed business in the 1900 block of East State Street. An employee was found on the scene.
– Police responded at 7:26 p.m. Monday to the 1200 block of East Third Street for a case of telephone harassment, speaking to the caller and a juvenile at the residence and telling them their options.
– Amanda Rice, 24, of Newgarden Avenue, was cited for a stop sign violation after her northbound vehicle on Park Avenue at 5:42 p.m. Monday failed to stop and collided with a westbound vehicle on Ridgewood driven by Alan Roberts, 68, of Franklin Avenue.
– Police responded at 4:13 p.m. Monday to the 1200 blocks of East Third and East Fourth streets for a report of several males seen breaking bricks in the street on Third and then walking toward Fourth. They were not found.
– A Washingtonville woman came to the police department at 4:02 p.m. Monday to report an alleged sex offense that happened against her about two months ago. The matter is under investigation, with the report listing an address on Southeast Boulevard.
– William H. Bridge, 59, of Depot Road, Lisbon, was cited for a temporary permit violation after a traffic stop at 3:32 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Franklin Avenue.
– A man on North Howard Avenue reported at 1:48 p.m. Monday that the landlord has been harassing him and his wife over an issue with the house. He said it’s ongoing and he wanted it documented.
– A woman advised at 1:08 p.m. Monday that a known male is calling and harassing hospital employees over his girlfriend who works at the hospital at 1995 E. State St. He has also shown up at the hospital and created a disturbance. They had filed a complaint before and he was told not to return to the hospital.
– Eugene Lockney, 59, of Arch Street, was cited for failure to yield at 12:40 p.m. Monday his southbound vehicle on Dodge Drive failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign and pulled into the path of an eastbound vehicle on West Pershing Street driven by Judith Windham, 74, of Homeworth, causing a collision.
– Nikolaus Martens Jr., 77, of Westview Drive, was cited for assured clear distance after his eastbound vehicle struck the back of another eastbound vehicle which struck the back of another vehicle on East State Street near the hospital at 11:26 a.m. Monday. The report said he attempted to stop for traffic in front of him, but he hit the brake pedals and the vehicle did not stop. Brake fluid was found on the ground. The other vehicles were driven by Renee Harris, 66, of Orchard Bend, and Sabrina Rummel, 33, of East Palestine. Harris was taken by EMT to Salem Regional Medical Center for possible injuries.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
– Police spoke with a woman at the station at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday regarding a vehicle stolen from her residence in the 1400 block of Benton Road. The incident is under investigation.
– Matthew Campanelli, 39, of 1384 Andrew Ave., was taken into custody on a charge of receiving stolen property after police responded to his residence at 11:30 p.m. Monday following an investigation. He was transported to the Columbiana County jail to await a court date which had been set for Tuesday morning in Columbiana County Municipal Court.
– Sean R. Garnet, 26, of Warren, was taken into custody on a felony warrant out of Trumbull County at the state Route 45 bypass and Georgetown Road at 2:14 p.m. Monday. He was taken to the Columbiana County jail to await an extradition hearing. Salem Police assisted at the scene of the traffic stop.
– A caller at 8:02 a.m. Monday reported a stop sign was struck at the intersection of West Perry Street and Overlook. The vehicle responsible left the area. Police were able to place the stop sign back up until it can be fixed by the township road department.
Columbiana
– Rebecca Baker, Parkview Drive, reported at 2 p.m. Monday branches fells on her neighbor’s electric lines. Police notified the electric crew.
– Police stood by while a process served served papers to an East Park Avenue resident at 2:47 p.m. Monday.
– A man turned in a phone he found while mowing in the area of Springfield and Meadow Lane at 6:32 p.m. Monday.
Lisbon
– Police were called to 515 Maple St. at 10 p.m. Saturday for a report that a man was intoxicated and being disruptive. Megan Tomlin told police the man lives in the shelter and has been drinking all day and causing issues with other housemates. Police spoke with the man, identified as Randy Clunen, and Clunen told police he had been drinking but it was Tomlin that was causing trouble. Police told him to go to sleep and leave the rest of the house members alone.
– Police were called to 150 Moore St. at 11:10 p.m. Saturday after a man reported a dryer in the laundry room was too loud. Police spoke with the man, who appeared to have been drinking, and told him the department could not tell someone to not do laundry and encouraged him to speak with his landlord about the problem to see if better laundry room hours could be scheduled. The man said he has already spoken with other tenants about the problem and even offered to pay them to do their laundry another time, at which point a woman came out and told police that the man was swearing at her because of the noise. The man then threatened to unplug the dryer. Police told him he could not unplug the dryer because he did not own the building and warned him he could be charged with disorderly conduct if police were called back. At 5:30 a.m. Sunday police were called back after Emily Teny reported the man, identified as Jeffery Sprankle, punched her boyfriend. Sprankle, 27, was charged with assault.
– Amanda Garretson reported at 9:58 p.m. Sunday she gave her son to her ex, Thomas Foley, who lives on North Jefferson Street and he never dropped him back off at the scheduled time. Police contacted Foley, who said he had told Garettson he was dropping the child off at his grandmother’s in the morning. Police notified Garretson.
– Police were called to Applegrove Apartments on Saltwell Road at 5:13 p.m. Saturday after a man reported his neighbor was poisoning his best friend’s mind and that he wanted his friend out of the apartment. Police spoke with the neighbor and friend and they said everything was fine and that the caller had not taken his medication that day. Police told the man to take his medication and calm down. At 6 p.m. Sunday a woman reported the man was harassing her because she was dating his friend. Police spoke with the man and he said the woman was turning his friend against him and that his friend was not allowed to be there and he wanted him out. Police told the man to calm down and leave the woman alone and that he could not dictate who his friend was allowed to be around.
– Zachary Crothers, North Market Street, reported at 12:27 p.m. Friday he was involved in an accident on Thomas Road near Sherman Street. He was then charged with driving under the influence.

– Howard Phillips, 48, of 610 Deming St., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and speeding after a traffic stop at 3:47 a.m. Monday on North Lincoln Avenue near East Sixth Street. The report said Phillips tested over the legal limit for a breath test. A family member picked him up from the station.
– A dispute between mother and daughter was reported at 12:15 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of West Fifth Street. A man heard his mother-in-law and wife arguing but said he didn’t see anything happen. The mother said her daughter came home intoxicated and they started to argue. The daughter said the mother started to yell at her and they argued. No physical violence occurred. The mother left the residence for the evening.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 9:38 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Continental Drive where a man said one of the neighbors revs the engine of his vehicle at all times of the night. He was told his options.
– Police responded at 9:15 p.m. Sunday to the alley between East State Street and Pershing Street in the 500 block for a report of suspicious activity. The caller said people were taking photos of their vehicle and using one of the buildings as a background. Officers told them about the complaint.
– Officers spoke with people in the 800 block of Prospect Street at 8:26 p.m. Sunday in reference to a person they believed to be a registered sex offender. Officers took the information which will be forwarded to detectives for review. At this time, no crime was reported or suspected.
– A motorcycle without tail lights was reported at 8:01 p.m. Sunday in the area of Newgarden and the railroad tracks, but was not found.
– Two juveniles were reported at 7:45 p.m. Sunday walking down the middle of the road in the area of North Union Avenue and East Third Street. They were not located.
– Officers at 7:17 p.m. Sunday saw a person acting in a suspicious manner at the rear of a closed business in the 100 block of Continental Drive. They spoke with a man and identified him, telling him to return during business hours to speak with management about his concerns.
– An officer on Franklin at 5:35 p.m. Sunday ran a vehicle registration through the in-car computer and found the registered owner was suspended and the vehicle’s plate and registration were to be confiscated per the request of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be valid. The plates and registration for the vehicle were confiscated and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
– A menacing report was investigated at 6:14 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Bentley Drive. Police found that the person who placed the call was under care at the facility and made a false report. Staff was advised of the complaint and said they would monitor the person.
– Suspicious males were reported at 6:01 p.m. Sunday near the wooden playground at Centennial Park. An officer checked the entire park and did not locate anyone fitting the description.
– Police responded at 4:57 p.m. Sunday to the 1700 block of Pearce Circle for a report of a theft/trespassing. Officers discovered people were at the residence to pick up furniture they purchased.
– An open burning report was reported at 4:55 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Summit Street. The fire department was on the scene and put the fire out. An officer and firefighters spoke with a juvenile who said his father started the fire but recently left the residence. The juvenile was told what material could and could not be used for fires. An officer planned to contact the homeowner and advise him also.
– A man on East Fourth Street reported at 4:05 p.m. Sunday that he was walking on East State Street when he was approached by his estranged wife who he said struck him in the face with a closed fist. He then left. Information will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review of possible charges.
– Police responded to the area of Ohio Avenue and East Pershing Street at 3:35 p.m. Sunday for a report of juveniles riding their bikes into traffic. None were found.
– Lines were reported down at 3:17 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of North Howard Avenue. It was telephone line and was removed from the road.
– Mike Delp, 38, of 676 E. Eighth St., was taken into custody at 2:46 p.m. Sunday at the home of a friend on Euclid Street for an outstanding warrant for assault. He was processed and turned over to sheriff’s deputy who took him to the Columbiana County jail.
-Ronald Chambers, 69, of Cortland, was cited for failure to yield after admitting to accidentally running a red light with his southbound vehicle on South Lincoln Avenue and colliding with a westbound vehicle driven by Elmer Reed, 89, of Fairview Court, on Franklin at 2:15 p.m. Sunday.
– Elizabeth Sue Scott, 27, of East Third Street, was cited for failure to control and no operator’s license while her husband, Richard Scott, 36, of the same address, was cited for wrongful entrustment for allowing her to drive his vehicle with no license after a one-vehicle accident at 11:34 a.m. Sunday. The report said the Dodge truck struck a utility pole in the alley behind their house and also struck a metal trash dumpster, which fell backwards and struck a Jeep Cherokee owned by Daryl Hill, causing moderate damage to the right rear lift gate and right rear side. Elizabeth Sue Scott said the end of the truck struck loose gravel and the front end struck the pole. She initially denied medical help, then complained about her right hand and wrist. An ambulance was requested as a precaution.

– Loud music was reported at 9:05 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Cliff Drive, but nothing was found.
– Police received a complaint at 9:40 a.m. Saturday regarding the possible unauthorized use of a motor vehicle by a person in the township. Information was obtained and the person who complained was advised it may be a civil matter but would be submitted to the prosecutor for review.
– A suspicious person was reported at 12:01 p.m. Friday in the area of U.S. Route 62/West State Street at state Route 45. Police spoke to the person, identified as a 44-year-old resident of Boone, W.Va., who said he was walking to West Virginia from Cleveland. He had no warrants and was sent on his way.
– Police received a tip at 11:30 a.m. Friday about a man known to have several open warrants out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at an Elberon Avenue property. Nicholas Crookston, 27, whose last known address was Lincoln Way, Lisbon, was wanted for failure to appear for child support and a receiving stolen property charge. He was taken into custody without incident and handed over to a deputy at a designated location.
COLUMBIANA
– Police spoke with Christina L. Faulk of Washingtonville and Larry W. Armes of Salem after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle at 12:22 p.m. Friday near the Day Care Center. Police warned them of the complaint and they agreed to stay away from the Day Care Center.
– A West Salem Street man reported at 4:45 p.m. Friday CDs were stolen from his home.
– A man reported at 7:27 p.m. Friday two boys were riding bicycles in the Duke and Duchess parking lot but had earlier been riding in the middle of the street. Police found the boys at the gas station putting air into their tires and did not see them riding in the street.
– A man reported at 10 p.m. Friday someone was running and stomping from an apartment on Camelot Drive.
– Police checked on a man slouched over in a car parked in the Main Street medical parking lot at 10:19 p.m. Friday. The man was found to be sleeping and there were no problems.
– Kenneth Hetrick, 54, Monroeville, Pa., was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 1 a.m. Saturday.
– Kyle Tremain, 25, Lower Elkton Road, Lisbon, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at noon Saturday.
– Police were called to assist the highway patrol and county sheriff’s office with a search for two people who fled from a traffic crash at 2 a.m. Sunday. The investigation is being handled by the county sheriff’s office due to being in that jurisdiction.
– A woman reported at 3:14 a.m. Sunday two men were breaking bottles in the middle of the road and being loud. Police cited Herman Frank III of Washingtonville and Anthony Weber of Lisbon with public intoxication

-?Police responded to the 800 block of Summit Street at 11:47 p.m. Sunday where the complainant said she made a comment to her boyfriend that he didn’t like and he punched her forehead and mouth leaving visible injuries. She declined medical treatment and to pursue the matter. Photos were taken and police were unable to locate the boyfriend.
-?At 12:15 a.m. Sunday police responded to the 1900 block of E. State Street where the complainant advised that power tools were heard in the area. An officer sat stationary in the area for several minutes and was unable to hear anything.
-? At 1:36 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the Fair Avenue and Oak Street area regarding a barking dog complaint. Police sat and listened for approximately 10 minutes and heard a dog bark once.
-?At 1:52 a.m. Sunday, police on patrol in the 400 block of Newgarden Avenue observed the side compartment door on a semi in the RK Campf parking lot that was open, apparently from neglect. There was no sign of forced entry and an officer secured the door.
-?At 2:13 a.m. Sunday, police on patrol in the 500 block of S. Broadway Avenue observed a truck peeling tires. Justin L. Fredo, 12840 W. South Range Road, was charged with OVI and peeling tires on private property.
-? Police responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 2:40 a.m. Sunday where a resident advised of a known person harassing him. The complainant was a patient and wanted to sign himself out AMA and transfer to a facility in Lisbon. He advised his sister, who lives out of state, had hacked into local news stations and made up a story about him being a child molester. The complainant advised his mother has power-of-attorney over him and has been holding his bonds for him. He advised his sister arrived in a helicopter and threatened him when she visited last night. He wanted to know what could be done. He was advised to contact the police in his sister’s jurisdiction or the local news stations she reportedly hacked in to and file a police report. He was advised regarding the bonds and his mother’s power-of-attorney that she had the right to hold them. Regarding the threats, Essex I staff said he had no visitors and police advised him that police had no control of whether he can sign out.
-? Police responded to the 200 block of W. 13th Street at 11:29 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person with a gun wanting to harm themselves. The person was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
-? At 6:21 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of E. 5th Street regarding a domestic call over money. The complainant wanted the woman, who lived there for a month, to leave the residence. He was advised of the eviction procedure. Police responded back to the address at 6:57 p.m.for a report of a man with a knife. Police found a woman had a minor cut from a knife on her hand. John P. Spence, 893 E. 5th Street, was charged with domestic violence and taken to the county jail. Salem first responders and an ambulance also responded.
-? At 2:34 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1000 block of N. Lincoln Avenue for an open burning complaint and found a small cookout fire. Salem firefighters said it was too close to brush and wood in the area and police warned the resident against having another fire or be cited.
-?Police responded to S. Lincoln Avenue and E. Perry Street at 9:28 a.m. and spoke to a person helping with an auction. They had permission to park on the southbound side of the street. But vehicles were parked too close to the intersection and blocked the view of motorists turning onto S. Lincoln Avenue The person said it would be announced to get the vehicles moved and he was advised the only solution was to ticket them all.
Columbiana reports
– Beaver Township Police Department advised of a suspicious male and female knocking on doors, asking for rides, reportedly on foot, headed toward city limits Thursday. Officers made no contact with them.
– A resident reported someone has been whistling next to her air conditioner outside the past few weeks but hasn’t been seen by anyone.
– Two dogs, one acting aggressively, were reported loose near state Route 14 near the Way Station. Both dogs were located and one subdued. The aggressive dog moved north on Sponsellor Road and officers lost sight of it. The dog warden was notified.
– While on patrol, an officer assisted a lost motorist in locating Firestone Park.
– Officers checked the area of state Route 7 for a suspicious male wearing red shorts, a black shirt and glasses, but they did not locate him.
– An officer on patrol found a man slouched over in a parked car in Main Medical parking lot, but he was just sleeping and left.
– Advised of a suspicious vehicle and people at Jerusalem Lutheran on South Main Street, officers spoke to a Washingtonville woman and a Salem man, who were told of the complaint. Both agreed to stay away from the day care center.

– Police responded to the 100 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue at 12:12 a.m. Saturday for a suspicious vehicle report on an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot. A door was open but no one was in the area and the vehicle was secured by police.
– At 12:15 a.m. Saturday, police responded to Franklin Avenue and Whinnery Road for a report of a vehicle with a possibly intoxicated driver that was called in by the Leetonia Police. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
– At 12:27 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of E. 4th Street for a person to be removed from a residence and observed the unwanted man walking from the residence. He was advised not to return.
– Police responded N. Howard Avenue and W. 5th Street at 12:36 a.m. Saturday for a report of a disabled vehicle. The driver was able to get it running and left.
– Police responded to the 7000 block of Franklin Avenue at 1:51 a.m. Saturday to assist with a medical report of a woman having trouble breathing. Officers learned she was intoxicated and possibly tried to harm herself. She was taken to the hospital.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 5:03 a.m. Friday where the complainant advised she was in the process of moving out and several personal items she placed inside her vehicle were missing. She provided police with the name of a suspect. The incident is under investigation.
A person came on station at 8:18 p.m. Friday with a bank card they had found and it was placed in the department’s lost and found.
– At 10:32 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 400 block of W. State Street where the complainant advised a vehicle was parked in the area. Police talked to the man who said he was making a phone call.
– Police responded to the 500 block of E. 4th Street at 11:01 p.m. Friday where a man had fallen with unknown injuries. Police spoke to him and he said his injuries were minor.
– At 1:29 p.m. Friday, police received a theft complaint on station from a woman who said she received a ride to a business in the 400 block of S. Broadway Avenue and left her purse in the vehicle. It was taken when the vehicle was towed from a previous incident that was reported to police. The complainant received a call the next morning from her sister in California who had seen where a woman had posted the complainant’s drivers license and credit card on Facebook with the caption saying “look who’s joy-riding in the vehicle.” The complainant was advised she needed to report that to her local jurisdiction and contact the social media page on the security of all her information being given out like that. The complainant didn’t know who the vehicle belonged to and only accepted a ride from a friend and left her purse in it. She was unsure where or when the purse was removed since the vehicle was moved from where it was parked. She didn’t know where the vehicle was or where her purse is. She did have the name of the woman who posted it on the social media page. The woman is from Wayne County and police gave the complainant a report number and the number for the report when the vehicle was damaged and advised to contact the local authorities.

– Police were called at 5:12 a.m. Friday to the 1800 block of East State Street for a report of a groundhog walking in circles around a dumpster at a business. The groundhog was not found.
– Officers along with Perry Township Police responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 4:37 a.m. Friday for a report of a person with a gun. A woman said a man was outside the apartment complex firing a gun at a vehicle. Officers located the man in his residence. He said there was no gun involved but a loud noise from him hitting the side of his truck with a shovel. He noticed his 4-way lights flashing on his other vehicle and hit his truck in order to scare off a potential prowler.
– An officer at 2:28 a.m. Friday saw a vehicle 50 feet north of Cuningham Road, Bentley Road in a field, checked the area, but did not see anyone. The vehicle registration came back to the owner of the property.
– Police were called at 12:58 a.m. Friday to the 300 block of North Broadway Avenue after a woman walking heard a female inside a residence yelling to “stop hitting me.” Officers made contact with a male and female inside, separated them and spoke to each of them. Both parties reported there was no physical violence. The male did say he put his hands up to keep his distance from her and she fell over a piece of furniture and onto the couch. The female said she yelled “stop hitting me” but he did not hit her. She had no visible injury.
– An officer at 12:22 a.m. Friday collected a lost credit card and gift card from the lockbox located in the police department lobby and placed both items in lost and found.
– A parking complaint at 11:36 p.m. Thursday said a vehicle was parked in a no parking zone in the 500 block of East Fifth Street, but no vehicle was found.
– An anonymous caller at 11:01 p.m. Thursday reported a case of criminal damaging by a man observed kicking the windshield of a vehicle in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue. The vehicle was damaged, but the owner could not be located.
– A caller at 10:39 p.m. Thursday reported people shining a laser at passing cars in the 500 block of East Fourth Street.
– Recovered property was reported at 8:07 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of East Pershing Street and placed in the lost and found.
– An officer on patrol at 2:26 p.m. Thursday saw an illegally parked vehicle in the 300 block of Washington Avenue, asked the owner to move it and they moved it.

– Township police assisted Salem units with a call at 4:39 a.m. Friday about a person with a gun in the 900 block of West Wilson Street. The caller said he saw a person looking in his vehicle and he yelled out his window that he had a gun. The other person then ran from the scene.
– Police responded at 4:10 a.m. Friday to Elberon Avenue near West Perry Street for a reckless driver. A caller said a red pickup was driving all over the road. Police checked the area, but didn’t find the vehicle.
– A custody dispute was reported at 9:28 p.m. Thursday at Salem Acres on Prospect Street after a female asked a male to babysit her child, then he refused to turn the child back over to the mother due to some concerns he had about the child’s living conditions. The child was returned to the mother without incident after police spoke to the man and explained options available to him.
– Jared James Chestnut, 25, whose last known address was Conser Drive, was cited for license forfeiture suspension after a traffic stop at 10:48 a.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of state Route 9/New Garden Road.
LISBON
– Police were asked to assist sheriff’s deputies and EMTs in responding to 8276 Pritchard Ave. at 11:36 p.m. Thursday. Police and EMTs were met by a man, who escorted them back to a bedroom, where they found an small girl unconscious on the floor. The girl was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

– A Franklin Avenue woman reported at 12:37 p.m. Thursday that her father’s soon-to-be ex-wife is countlessly calling her phone to speak with her father. She was told to block the line if they want the calls to stop.
– A man reported at 12:13 p.m. Thursday that there was a verbal altercation on Wednesday between him and his wife. He had questions on obtaining custody of his children and how to obtain a protection order. He was told to seek legal counsel and where to obtain a protection order.
– A suspicious male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt was reported at 3:06 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Nobody was found.
– An officer at 2:52 a.m. Thursday saw an open door at a business in the 100 block of West State Street and checked the interior, finding everything to be in order. A keyholder at the scene secured the door.
– A security alarm was reported at 2:22 a.m. Thursday at a business in the 1800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. An officer found an unsecured door. The building was searched with no problems found and a keyholder responded and secured the door.
– Police were dispatched to the area of Bentley Road near Laurel Court at 1:47 a.m. Thursday for a report of a possible accident with unknown injuries where a truck struck a curb and hit a fire hydrant. No accident was found. An officer did notice the road was wet on Bentley in front of Laurel Court from the water department flushing hydrants.
– Police assisted a Perry Township unit with a traffic stop at 1:28 a.m. Thursday int he 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue.
– Justin Spack, 22, of 1852 S. Lincoln Ave., was charged with disorderly conduct and domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called at 12:24 a.m. Thursday to the corner of North Ellsworth Avenue and East Third Street for an irate person. A female and male were outside a vehicle and the male was identified as an intoxicated person the police had dealt with several minutes earlier. The female victim said he started arguing with her when she was trying to give him a ride home. She stopped the vehicle and he got out and was yelling at her and shoving her. He also smashed her hand in the door, causing minor injury.
– A drive-off was reported at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Oil, in the 900 block of East State Street, involving a male who pumped $40 worth of fuel and left without paying. Police didn’t find the vehicle.
– A reckless operator was reported at 11:23 p.m. Wednesday on East State Street and Union. An officer checked the area and located the vehicle with no violations observed. The vehicle pulled into a private lot and the officer made contact, noting the driver appeared okay and showed no signs of impairment.
– Police were dispatched to Holiday Inn Express, 240 N. Cunningham Road, at 8:16 p.m. Wednesday for a suspicious person. A woman had been sitting in the lobby for over five hours. An officer spoke to her and learned she walked from Alliance and was trying to get a room at a hotel but her card was declined. She seemed mentally stable and refused a courtesy transport.
– An intoxicated driver was reported at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West State Street. An officer made contact and the driver did not appear intoxicated and had no scent of alcohol.
– A loud person was reported at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of East State Street. A man was heard yelling inside a vehicle. Police checked the area, but the man was not located.
– Police assisted a Perry Township unit in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday by standing by while the Perry officer dealt with a domestic situation. The man on scene was voluntarily transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– Police were called at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday for an animal complaint in the 1000 block of East Sixth Street. A raccoon was stuck in a tree. The humane officer was contacted and came to remove the animal.
– A suspicious odor was reported at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Aetna Street. An anonymous caller had reported the scent of marijuana in the area. An officer checked but noticed no presence of marijuana.

-Gary Matthew Yarosz Jr., 29, of Toronto, was taken into custody on a warrant from Columbiana County for a traffic violation after police conducted a traffic stop for a fictitious registration at 1:24 a.m. Thursday and did a routine check of the passengers of the vehicle. Yarosz was one of the passengers and was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy who responded to the scene on state Route 45 at the Salem Golf Club. The driver, Ashley Clark, 27, of East Liverpool, was cited for fictitious registration. The vehicle was towed with a hold for proper registration.
– Township police were called at 8:29 p.m. Wednesday to the area of the Salem Golf Club in reference to shots fired. An officer made contact with a man on a golf cart on the golf course and determined it was a maintenance worker who was shooting nuisance animals on the property.
– A resident in the 1500 block of Newgarden Avenue reported at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday that his neighbor was using loud machines and equipment at inappropriate hours of the day/night. He also said the township zoning officer had been made aware of issues in the past. Officers told him to bring his concerns to a township trustees meeting due to the zoning officer being involved. He said he would. No noise was heard by officers while on the call.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 5:34 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue between a live-in boyfriend and girlfriend. Police spoke with both people who advised the same story. The male said he pushed the female out of his way. There were no red marks or signs of violence and the female signed a refusal to prosecute. The male was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for a mental evaluation.
– Angel Phillips, 39, of West Fourth Street, Salem, was cited for non-compliance suspension, fictitious plates and failure to display two plates after a traffic stop at 10:57 a.m. Wednesday on Georgetown Road at West Pershing Street. The vehicle was towed and Phillips and her daughter were picked up at the scene by a relative.

– Lindsey Russell, North Middle Street, reported her car egged Tuesday night.
– A South West Street mother reported Wednesday her underage son had run away. She was advised to contact juvenile court about filing unruly charges against him.
– Adrienne Parish, 32, of Columbiana, was charged Wednesday with theft for reportedly replacing the price tag on a package of chicken at the Save A Lot supermarket, which resulted in a significant reduction in the price.
– Nicholas Costea reported his truck mirror was clipped by a school bus on West Park Avenue at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday.
– Milton Hershberger of Louisville was cited for possessing marijuana and failure to display his registration following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday.
– A caller reported the contents of a trash can on South Main Street had been on fire at 8:43 p.m. Wednesday, but he put the fire out.
– A caller reported there was a female screaming obscenities in front of a house on South Middle Street at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday. She was gone by the time police arrived.

SALEM
– Police responded at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of West Wilson Street for an alleged suicide attempt and spoke with a man and his girlfriend, who was upset over others in the residence not helping to clean. The report said there was no real threat going on and the man took it out of context. No weapon was involved and all was fine.
– A woman had questions and concerns at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday over her daughter, granddaughter and custody issues. She was given information which helped her and was told to contact her home law enforcement jurisdiction for a report or further help.
– Parking tickets were issued Wednesday at 1:33 p.m. and 1:19 p.m. for illegally parked vehicles in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge and the 700 block of West Wilson Street.
– Francine Burlingame, of Franklin Avenue, reported at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday that a satchel containing her laptop and legal papers was accidentally left at a local establishment or in her car parked at her residence where an unknown person may have taken it. She checked back with the establishment on Tuesday and the satchel was not there and no one had turned it in.
– A caller at 11:33 a.m. Wednesday reported a semi truck blocking the intersection at West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue. The driver said the truck broke down. An officer advised the driver to check his air lines and when he did, the truck was able to move.
– A Lisbon woman reported at 12:26 a.m. Wednesday that she accidentally left her cell phone at Circle K East, 1125 E. State St. She contacted the clerk on duty and was told a man located a cell phone in the store and he gave it to another male who was claiming he lost it. An investigation is pending.
– A caller at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday reported several people walking on the railroad tracks at West Wilson Street and the crossing. Nobody was found.
– Counterfeit money was reported at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Police contacted the suspects, who denied knowing the money was counterfeit. This was the second incident with the same suspects. The matter will be turned over to department detectives.
– A reckless operator was reported at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday in a Chevelle with white racing stripes on North Union Avenue, possibly now at the high school. Police did not locate the vehicle, but spoke with the football coach for information on the juvenile driver. An officer responded to the juvenile’s residence and spoke with him and his father about the incident, noting this was the one and only warning. The father said he would handle it and that it won’t happen again.
– An unruly juvenile was reported in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday when a juvenile took off from the mother and would not return. An officer was flagged down by a driver stopped on the side of the road near Ohio Avenue and learned she was the juvenile’s daycare worker and had the juvenile in her vehicle. The juvenile was transported back to his residence and the officer spoke with the mother and daycare worker and both came to an agreement that the juvenile would go to the daycare worker’s residence for the remainder of the night.
– Rebecca Grimm, 19, of Canton, was charged with theft after police were called to Walmart on East State Street at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday for an alleged shoplifter. Asset protection said a female concealed $90 worth of merchandise in her purse before attempting to exit without making payment.
– A man from West Pine Lake Road reported at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday that his son took several checks from his residence which is out of the city limits. He was told to get with the correct jurisdiction to file a theft report. He had several copies of checks from the bank that were signed by his son and his son’s friend. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for forgery charges which are under investigation.
– Police responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center parking lot at 4:07 p.m. Tuesday regarding a complaint that vehicles were using the hospital lot to turn around due to the traffic delay caused by a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Hospital security advised they would see to the issue.
– Thomas Viets, 63, of East Lincoln Way, Lisbon, was cited for failure to yield after he attempted to make a left turn into the Farmers Bank parking lot at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday from the center left turn lane and was struck by a westbound motorcycle on East State Street. The motorcyclist, Slade Brandle, 56, of Washingtonville, said he was injured and was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.

– Two dogs were reported running loose at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday in the area of the U.S. Route 62 four-lane and North Ellsworth Avenue. An officer saw the dogs but was unable to catch them. A local humane officer was called to assist but the dogs ran off and couldn’t be located.
– Police responded at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday to Circle K South in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a report of people selling CDs in the parking lot. Police spoke with the store manager and learned the people were given permission to sell the CDs.
– A Carriage Hill Drive resident reported possible identity theft at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday, saying a person attempted to open multiple accounts using his identity. The incident is under investigation.
– Township police responded to a report of wires down in the 1100 block of Beechwood Drive, called in by a Salem police officer. A moving van attempted to pull into a driveway and tore down a cable wire from the residence, along with catching the main electrical wire from the house between the cab and the box area of the truck. The township fire department and Ohio Edison both responded to the scene, with part of the road blocked where the low wires were hanging over the road.
LISBON
– A caller asked police to check on his 14-year-old daughter, who lives at Greentree Place, at 4:18 p.m. Monday. The man said he gave his daughter a phone but her mother took it away. Police found the girl to be fine, and the mother said he gave the phone to their daughter without her permission even though she has full custody. The mother took the phone away as a disciplinary measure after her daughter got a tattoo over the weekend and she intends to return the phone to the father.
– A caller reported there was a drunken woman walking down the middle of Saltwell Road at 9:53 p.m. Tuesday. Police found the woman, who they knew, and she asked them for a ride to a bar. She was told to return to her residence at nearby Apple Grove apartments. About an hour later police received a call that she was in the street in front her apartment. The police again told her to return home and then watched her do so.
– Kayla M. Krince, state Route 518, Lisbon, blew out a tire while driving on Pendleton Avenue and struck a pole at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday.
– A caller reported a black male was going door to door on North Beaver Street at 6:10 p.m. Monday. The man and his companions were located on another street and told they needed a permit to do this.
– A woman pulled into the police department parking lot seeking medical assistance at 5:42 p.m,. Monday because her mother was having chest pains. They were from the Salineville area and opted to drive toward Lisbon due to poor cellphone service where they live. They pulled into the police parking lot because the pain was growing worse, and an ambulance was summoned to transport her to a local hospital.
– Police were called to West Washington Street at 4:35 p.m. Monday, where Bill Cloud was in the process of having his vehicle repossessed. Cloud was sitting in the vehicle, the front of which was already hoisted in the air by the tow truck driver. After Cloud admitted he was not making payments, he was told to get out, which he did. Cloud removed personal items from the vehicle before it was towed away.
– Robert H. Clark III, Trinity Church Road, Lisbon, was backing into the Night Court parking lot when he struck a parked vehicle belonging to Mary A. Creatore at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday.
– A woman who lives on East Chestnut Street asked that an officer speak to her 8-year-old son at 4:11 p.m. Tuesday because he was acting violent toward her, his siblings and pets. The youth acknowledged his actions were inappropriate and he appeared to regret his actions.
COLUMBIANA
– Alice M. Morelli, no address listed, reported at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday she signed a contract with Kimpel’s Jewelry for consignment on jewelry valued at $5,200 and to date has not received any money or jewelry back. Police informed her about civil seizure and referred her to the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
– Lauren Kyle, reported at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday a suspicious red van with emblem for Mikel Knight was in the Duke and Duchess parking lot and people were selling CDs out of the back. Police spoke with the people and found no problems.
– Police located a stolen vehicle in the Sparkle Market parking lot at 7:37 p.m. Tuesday. It was towed for the Youngstown Police Department.

SALEM
– An officer stood by with the Housing & Zoning department at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Summit Street for the towing of an inoperable, unregistered vehicle from a property. The owner was told options for retrieving it.
– Police were called at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday to the 400 block of Franklin where it was found an unknown person placed or threw a 2-liter plastic bottle in an upstairs bedroom by South Lundy Avenue. The bottle appeared to have a substance inside. The bottle was removed and disposed of properly.
– Police met with a Salem woman at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday at Giant Eagle, 2401 E. State St., where she attempted to get a sum of money on cards to send to help her grandson and the clerk stopped her and told her it was scam. She had received a call Monday advising of the need for a large sum of money to help her grandson. She sent the amount, getting cards at Giant Eagle and giving the numbers to the supposed grandson on the phone who was supposedly in Jacksonville, Fla. Police also told her it was probably a scam and there was no way to get her money back that was already sent.
– Kristen Mills, of West School Street, reported at 1:16 p.m. Tuesday that someone entered her vehicle overnight and stole her purse. Use of her credit card was attempted at a business in the city. The theft is under investigation.
– A large amount of garbage was reported left on a curb lawn blocking part of the sidewalk in the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 12:17 p.m. Tuesday. The complainant was the landlord of the residence who advised the tenant moved out and left the garbage on the front lawn. The officer contacted the tenant, who said she was still in the process of moving and getting a garbage company to remove the trash. She was told it had to be moved within 48 hours or the prosecutor’s office would be contacted for possible charges.
-A junk truck was towed from a property on North Howard Avenue at 8:59 a.m. Tuesday after being tagged more than 10 days previously. The truck was taken from the rear yard.
– An officer at 8:37 a.m. Tuesday saw a moving truck pull into a drive on Beechwood and pull down multiple wires from the house to the street pole. The cable or telephone wire was pulled to the side by the truck driver. A second wire was larger and stuck between the cab of the truck and the rear cargo box. Salem had dispatch notify Perry Township Police.
– Lucinda Oldaker, of Franklin Avenue, reported at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday that someone unknown entered her vehicle and broke the rear view mirror off while attempting to steal the radar detector, which they did not get.
– A fire alarm was reported at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 2216 E. State St., at 5:36 a.m. Thursday. Police checked the exterior of the building and found no signs of smoke or fire. The fire department checked the interior of the building. Both departments cleared the scene without incident.
– Jessica Hazel, of East Third Street, reported at 10:42 p.m. Monday that she looked outside and noticed her vehicle dome light on. The vehicle was locked but she left the window down about 6 inches. She checked her vehicle and noticed someone went though her purse and wallet, with about $50 cash stolen. Nobody was found in the area.
– An officer at 9:41 p.m. Monday saw a large amount of smoke in the 1600 block of East State Street. The fire department also responded, but the source of smoke was not found.
– A man from East Fourth Street reported at 8:53 p.m. Monday that a possible assault occurred in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. The alleged assault is under investigation.
– An officer responded with the fire department and KLG at 6:35 p.m. Monday to the 500 block of Woodland Avenue for a report of a 7-year-old with a broken leg. They found the call was a hoax and after an investigation, took a male juvenile into custody, releasing him to his mother. The matter will be forwarded to the juvenile officer.
– Police responded at 6:04 p.m. Monday to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue for a dispute between the owner and upstairs tenant over the rent and the owner wanting him out, noting he hasn’t paid the rent and was not on the lease. The tenant said he has had a sublease on a room in the apartment for a year and is making arrangements to get another apartment. The original tenant recently passed away. The landlord was told to contact the sheriff’s office to start the eviction process.
– A woman reported at 11:40 a.m. Monday that she drives a transit van and was dropping someone off at Sparkle Market, 423 S. Lundy Ave., when a male began to yell at her and harass her allegedly because she is Hispanic. He yelled obscenities at her and said she should not be charging a fee for rides. Officers checked for the person, but he was not found.
– A parking ticket was issued at 10:58 a.m. Monday for a vehicle with an expired registration on the street in the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue.
– Police were asked at 10:11 a.m. Monday to check the well-being of a male who may be at a relative’s home on East Third Street. The relative was contacted and officers checked the interior of the home, but he was not there.

– Police responded to the 1200 block of Elberon Avenue at 5:33 p.m. Monday for a report of three male juveniles opening mailboxes. No juveniles were found.
– A passerby at 4:52 p.m. Monday reported an open door at a local business, the Peddler’s Station, on Benton Road. Police found the owner was cleaning and had the door open.
– Police responded at 3:35 p.m. Monday to Depot Road at Stewart Road for a one-vehicle accident, making contact with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and learning the vehicle had been involved in another accident outside the township. Police and the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and handler assisted OSHP while the investigation took place. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence. Narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia were removed from the vehicle.
– Police were called at 3:57 p.m. Monday to Salem Acres on Prospect Street for a report of a dispute involving parents and juveniles. All parties were separated and police learned that alleged threats of violence have been exchanged between the juveniles while waiting for the school bus on several occasions in the mornings. Parents of the juveniles had been waiting after school at the bus stop to confront the juveniles about the threats, with the parents causing a disturbance. All parties were advised of the consequences if the actions continued and were warned to stay away from each other.
– The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from Perry Township at 10:15 a.m. Monday in the search for a runaway juvenile from a local group home in Goshen Township on Goshen Road. Police checked the area and officers were told a Goshen Township police officer found the female.
– Mary Soules, 82, of Saltwell Road, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her Jeep struck a trailer being pulled by a truck driven by Daniel Trbovich, 56, of Waynesburg, who was waiting to enter the Sunland Construction parking lot on Snyder Road at 9:59 a.m. Monday. The trailer was partially on the roadway and properly marked.
COLUMBIANA
– A man reported at 3:10 a.m. Monday there was a man on a bicycle riding in the Dutch Village Inn parking lot close to cars. Police checked and found the man was just getting some exercise.
– Someone reported at 5 p.m. Monday a pickup was blocking Metz Road between Fairfield and Fairfield School Road. Police found the man was loading wood and he left shortly after.
– A man reported at 8:14 p.m. Monday someone parked a piece of machinery near the stop sign making it difficult to see in the alley off of Friend Street. Police checked and left a note for the street department.
LISBON
– Tom Weikart backed into a stop sign at the corner of Pritchard Avenue and East High Street at 8:47 a.m. Monday.
– Eric Greathouse, Graham Street, reported there were people going door to door inquiring about their gas bills at 6:43 p.m. Monday. Police spoke with one of the workers, who said they quit for the night and would resume again on Tuesday after obtaining a solicitation permit from village hall. Rick Mollenkopf called about the same group, saying they were now congregated near the county courthouse. They told police they were waiting for their ride.
– Police went to the North Vine Street home of Paul Meyers at 12:53 p.m. Saturday to advise him his daughter had been in an accident while in the care of her foster parents and that she had already been taken to Akron Children’s Hospital. Meyers said he had already been advised of the accident.

– An alarm was reported at 4:18 a.m. Monday at Taco Bell/Long John Silver’s, 1872 E. State St. The exterior of the building was found secure.
– An anonymous caller reported a break-in at 2:14 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of West Wilson Street, saying several subjects were observed going into a vacant/foreclosed home. Officers arrived and did not see any signs of forced entry. All doors and windows were secure and nobody was seen inside the residence.
– A security alarm was reported at 11:07 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. The exterior was found secure, then a keyholder responded and the interior was also checked. Everything appeared in order.
– Police responded to a juvenile problem at 10:54 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street. A 17-year-old boy was told to listen to the rules of the house. His mother was told her options.
– Police were called at 9:44 p.m. Sunday to Salem Regional Medical Center for a patient who left the hospital. The person was not located, with information passed on to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.
– An officer was flagged down at 9:17 p.m. Sunday by a Sparkle employee on South Lundy Avenue who reported a suspicious vehicle in the lot. The officer checked the vehicle, but no one was around.
– A combative patient was reported at 9:13 p.m. Sunday at Salem Regional Medical Center. Police located the person and he said he was fine. He had been upset due to the long wait in the emergency room. He was told his options and an officer spoke with emergency room staff.
– A dog at large/injured dog was reported in the 500 block of Prospect Street at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, but no animal was located.
– A caller at 8:46 p.m. Sunday reported two male juveniles breaking bottles on the ground at the Broadway Plaza on Second Street. Police found broken glass in the parking lot, but no juveniles.
– Several vehicles were reported with loud exhausts revving their engines on West Pershing Street traveling eastbound from the railroad crossing at 8:42 p.m. Sunday. The vehicles were not found.
– A reckless driver was reported at 7:41 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of West Wilson Street. A resident said the known person had just left, spinning the tires in the alley. An officer saw 25 feet of fresh peel marks in the gravel and made contact with the driver, advising of the complaint and potential for criminal charges. The person acknowledged the complaint and relayed being upset regarding an ongoing custody exchange issue.
– Police responded with the fire department to the 200 block of West Ninth Street at 7:14 p.m. Sunday for an odor of natural gas. Columbia Gas was contacted and responded.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 5:13 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Washington Avenue where a woman said there was a verbal dispute between family members. The problem was resolved.
– A officer working a detail at Salem Regional Medical Center at 1:43 p.m. Sunday received a parking complaint from a passing pedestrian. A vehicle did not have the proper placard for parking in a handicap space. The owner was notified and the vehicle was moved.
– A suspicious person was reported at 2:33 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of East Pershing Street, but was gone when police arrived.
– A man from Washington Avenue reported at 2:52 p.m. Sunday that his bicycle had been stolen and he found it in the 800 block of East State Street. An officer obtained the serial number from the bicycle and sent the man on his way with his property.

– Loud music was reported at 10:09 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Benton Road. The neighbors were asked to turn the music down and they complied.
– An unattended child was reported at 7:12 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West Perry Street, but no child was found.
– Salem Police reported receiving a 911 hangup call from a residence in the township at 4:59 a.m. Sunday. Police responded to the 200 block of Apple Street and spoke with a resident who said a cell phone malfunctioned.
– A resident on Lake Avenue flagged down an officer at 4:02 p.m. Saturday about a dog running at large on her property. The officer spoke to the animal’s owner and advised about leash laws in Ohio regarding dogs running loose and off the owner’s property.
– A caller at 11:21 a.m. Saturday reported a possible burglary at a vacant apartment in the 1100 block of Prospect Street, saying she found a screen removed from a window. She had a key and police checked the interior finding nothing out of place. All windows were secure from the inside.
– A downed tree was reported at 10:40 a.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Elberon Avenue. A property owner said the tree fell during the night onto her fence and shed. Police found the shed had very minor damage along with the fence. The property owner wanted a report for insurance purposes.
– A tree was reported down blocking part of Cunningham Road at 5:09 a.m. Saturday. Police located a large tree limb that fell and removed it from the road.
– Police responded to the 700 block of Bethel Drive for a person to be removed at 3:32 a.m. Saturday, finding a man standing in the driveway with an injury to his face. He refused EMS. He said he and a friend were out drinking and arrived back at the residence by taxi and went inside, then his friend wanted him to leave and he didn’t want to, with a physical altercation ensuing. The caller was contacted and had a slight injury to his lip. He advised the same about what happened and neither wanted to pursue the matter. The man’s ride arrived and he left.
– An officer at 12:46 a.m. Saturday noticed a vehicle sitting at the dead end of Allen Road off of Beechwood and made contact with the driver, finding an elderly female from Mount Vernon, Ohio. The officer learned through conversation that she had left her residence at 8 a.m. to run some errands and had no idea how she got where she was. Due to the late hour and the fact that she was too tired to drive, the officer asked if she wanted to get a motel room for the night and she agreed. She was taken to a local motel and police had the Knox County Sheriff’s Office contact family members, who advised they would be enroute to get her and her vehicle. Police advised the elderly female to stay at the motel until family arrived for her. At 6:15 a.m., the son called and advised they were at the motel to pick her up.
LISBON
– Melissa Abbott reported there was a suspicious man across from Lewton’s Garage at 5 p.m. Sunday. Police found a man in a Jeep, who told him he was yelling at the radio while listening to the Cleveland Browns’ game.
– Matthew S. Lehman, North Beaver Street, reported a domestic dispute had occurred at 11:43 p.m. Sunday. Police arrived and spoke with Lehman, who said his nephew showed up and pushed him into a wall. Police then spoke to the nephew, Austin Dunnington, who was at his girlfriend’s house across the street, and he said they had both shoved each other. Both parties declined to press charges, and Dunnington agreed to spend the night at his girlfriend’s house.
– Misty Blythe, North Beaver Street, reported Sunday evening receiving harassing calls from an unknown woman, who kept swearing at her. Police called the number back and told the person who answered to quit calling Blythe, and the caller agreed.
– Police were called to a domestic dispute on North Market Street at 3:31 p.m. Sunday, where a 15-year-old girl reported her 14-year-old brother was pushing their mother and her around. The mother reported she wanted her son, who had recently been removed from school because of his attitude, taken to the county juvenile detention facility, and police complied.
– Jessica Votullo reported seeing a drunk man passed out in the alley off West Washington Street at 5:19 p.m. Saturday. Police arrived and found a man, who gave his address as the homeless shelter on Maple Street. Police offered to give the man a ride home but before that could be done the man fell head-first onto the sidewalk. The officer then called for an ambulance and began rubbing the man’s sternum to get him to regain consciousness, which he did. The man, who had a quarter-size lump on his forehead, was transported to a local hospital.
– Police were called to a home on North Jefferson Street at 10:32 a.m. Saturday to stand by while a woman retrieved her personal belongings from the residence. Police spoke to the property owner, Tom Pullie, who said she had nothing left to remove. Police advised the woman this is a civil matter that would to need sorted out by attorneys.
– Police were called to the Days Inn parking lot in regard to a woman sleeping in a truck with Idaho license plates at 9:17 a.m. Saturday. Police spoke with the woman, who was from Boise, Idaho, and she said she did not have enough money for a room but was planning to move on.
– Wendy Hoffman on Friday dropped off a printed text message she said was from a man against whom she has a no-contact order.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Sedrick A. Lippiat, 22, 856 Newgarden Ave., Salem, was cited for driving under suspension and speeding following a traffic stop on state Route 165 and Lisbon Road at 7:16 p.m. Friday.
SALEM TWP.
– Constable Dan Valentine received a report at 12:18 p.m. Oct. 3 from a resident in the 35000 block of state Route 344, Salem, advising she discovered someone broke into her shed. Nothing appeared to be missing but damage was done to the doors.

SALEM
– A Newgarden Avenue resident reported at 8:47 a.m. Friday that she had been receiving calls and text messages from an unknown number. She reported additional calls from the same number at 5:16 p.m. the same day.
– Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:21 p.m. Friday for a report of a woman outside claiming to see clowns with firearms. The woman voluntarily went to the Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
– Police responded to the 1700 block of East Third Street at 4:48 p.m. Friday in reference to a man with a large cut on his head. An ambulance and Salem Fire Department first responders also arrived. The man said that he had slipped and fell down his basement steps. He attempted to drive himself to the hospital, but passers by got him seated and put pressure on the cut. He was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for treatment.
– A patrolling officer at 12:56 a.m. Saturday observed a suspicious vehicle parked at Waterworth Memorial Park. The occupants said they were just talking. They were advised of park hours and asked to leave.
– Officers responded to a multiple dwelling home in the 700 block of East Fifth Street at 4:08 a.m. Saturday in reference to a neighbor dispute. Officers spoke with the people involved who both said the other one had been knocking on the adjoining wall. One of them also claimed that other had attempted to run her over with a vehicle in the alley recently. They were told to leave each other alone.
Columbiana
– A woman driving a school bus reported at 7:50 a.m. Friday the bus was sideswiped by a white box truck, which then left. The crash was determined to have been outside the city limits so the highway patrol was notified.
– Jared Duskey of Columbiana reported at 8:33 a.m. Friday a semi truck was swerving on South Main and nearly hit a car. The driver of the semi was found and said he was trying to avoid tree branches along Main Street.
– Sally Wilkinson of Columbiana reported at 9:54 a.m. Friday a suspicious vehicle has been sitting outside a Court Street home for almost 20 minutes. The vehicle was pulling away while she was on the phone, and police did not find it.
– A woman reported two small children were left in a running vehicle at 10:09 a.m. Friday while the driver was in Subway ordering food. The mother told police she was within eyesight of the vehicle. Police found the children appeared well taken care of otherwise.
– A man called at 11:03 a.m. to say he was bringing another person to the police station to file a report of a threat.
– Jean Simon of Columbiana reported at 12:26 p.m. Friday a dog followed her into her yard.
– Jeremy Athey of Columbiana reported at 1:55 p.m. Friday there was an open door at a Union Street home and dogs were running in and out. The door led into a fenced in area of the yard, where pit bulls were. Police were unable to get to the house itself, and the homeowner was not there.
– An open door was reported by Dave Perkins at 7:51 p.m. Friday leading to the law offices near Vivian’s. The offices were empty and the building’s owner, Mark Courtney, was left a message.
– A 17-year-old was found trespassing at the railroad camp property on Lisbon Street and warned at 10:04 p.m. Friday.
Lisbon
– Parents of a 7-year-old second-grader asked police to speak with their child at 5:49 p.m. Thursday after he attempted to walk about four miles to his home on Lisbon-Canfield Road from McKinley Elementary School. The boy told police he knows he should not do this and will not try it again. The parents were also planning to contact the school about how he started walking home instead of getting onto the bus.
– Someone reported three girls throwing items into the street in the area of Beaver and West Washington streets at 5:43 p.m. Thursday. Police found the children and spoke to both them and their mother. The girls admitted to throwing the items and the mother said she would handle the disciplining them.
– Someone reported two men or boys yelling at each other near the high school at 4:02 p.m. Thursday. Police checked the area, but did not find them.
– A medical alert sounded at an East Washington Street home at 9:13 p.m. Wednesday. The woman living there told police she was fine, the machine is touchy and must have gone off by accident. The ambulance was canceled.
– A man was reported sitting next to a dumpster near the courthouse, very intoxicated at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday. Police found the man and transported him to his home on Maple Street. He was warned not to be out again on Wednesday, and he said he was going to bed.

Salem
– Police responded to the 1200 block of East 3rd Street at 10:17 a.m. Friday attempting to contact a woman and advise her to contact the hospital about a family member. Police were unable to make contact.
– At 11:12 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue where the complainant said he wasn’t paid for doing a $6,000 job he finished last night in Ravenna and was to be paid this afternoon. The person that was to pay him called and said he won’t be able to pay him until Monday. The complainant said it happened before and there are others who are owed money. He was advised of the options and that it was a civil matter.
– Police responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at midnight Thursday for a report of a domestic in progress and met with two males and one female who said there was no dispute.
– At 12:15 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1800 block of Whinnery Road for a one-vehicle accident with the driver leaving the scene. The vehicle and driver were located in front of 1975 Fairview Court and first responders and an ambulance were called. Scott J. Dailey of that address refused medical attention and was taken into custody and charged with OVI and leaving the scene of an accident and the vehicle was towed away.
– Police responded to the 1900 block of East Pershing Street at 12:54 a.m. Friday for a report of two men arguing in the parking lot. No one was located in the location.
– At 12:39 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for a noise disturbance. Due to all officers on high priority calls, the Perry Township Police Department was called and arrested Austin R. Young on an outstanding warrant from Monroe County.
– At 12:55 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1900 block of East State Street and spoke with two Leetonia EMS workers who advised they brought a man to the hospital who didn’t want to enter the building. Both said he started being physical with them but they didn’t want to pursue charges. Hospital staff said he was disorderly and shouting. Police spoke to the man who calmed down. He said he would speak to the hospital staff regarding medical issues.
– At 3:51 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 2800 block of East State Street for an intoxicated man who didn’t know where he was. An officer had prior contact with him and Leetonia police responded to transport him to his residence.
– At 4:03 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a woman on the ground. She said she fell several hours ago and couldn’t get up. She was taken to the hospital.
– At 4:26 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of Prospect Street and spoke to a woman complainant about a civil matter.
– At 7:33 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of East State Street regarding a motorist that drove off without paying for $15 in gas. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Perry Township
– Police responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:15 a.m. Friday to assist Salem units with a fight involving a knife. Salem police had one man in custody and Perry Township police guarded him while Salem officers gathered information.
– Police responded to the Salem Police Department at 1:37 a.m. Friday after being requested to witness the testing of an OVI suspect and witnessed the reading of the forms to the suspect and assisted with the suspect until a Salem officer transported him home.
– At 12:53 a.m. Friday, police were requested to check a disturbance in the 200 block of Vine Avenue as all other Salem units were busy. Upon arriving at the apartment, the resident advised that he had fallen in the shower and a female friend with him screamed thinking he was injured. Upon checking, Austin R. Young, was found to have an active warrant from Monroe County and they wanted him. He was taken into custody without incident and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy on South Broadway Avenue.
– At 3:13 p.m. Thursday, police were requested by the state patrol to attempt to locate and stop a pickup truck with an equipment violation that was northbound on state Route 9, approaching state Route 45. Police located the vehicle on U.S. Route 62 north of Salem. The driver was advised of the defect, checked the validity and a warning was issued to get the defect repaired as soon as possible.
– Police received and anonymous complaint from a man regarding children possibly being home alone in the 1200 block of Prospect Street Extension at 9:33 a.m. Thursday. Police spoke with a relative who advised the three children are being home schooled. Information was obtained and will be forwarded to Children Services.

SALEM
– Police responded at 11:33 a.m. Thursday to the 900 block of East Third Street for an alleged drug overdose, locating a person on the kitchen floor of the residence. KLG responded to the scene and transported the person to Salem Regional Medical Center for medical attention. Officers located three syringes at the residence. Drug abuse instruments were confiscated for evidence for possible pending criminal charges, the report said.
– A woman reported at 11:02 a.m. Thursday that sometime during the night, someone cut/tore through a black screen covering the window to the room where she works in the 300 block of Aetna Street. The glass was still there, but the screen was ripped in two. Nothing else was done.
– An officer responded at 7:35 a.m. Thursday to the parking lot in Waterworth Memorial Park off of Sunset Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller reported a person possibly sleeping in the vehicle. Contact was made with the person who said he was tired but was ok.
– A woman reported at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday that she was shopping at Walmart on East State Street with her 13-year-old grandson who went missing and had not been seen for some time. Numerous attempts to page him at the business had gone unanswered. Officers gathered information and started walking through the business to attempt to find the missing teen. The woman then learned the juvenile was ok. He had not felt well and walked home after being unable to find her in the store.
– A dispute was reported at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Aetna Street involving two juveniles and some property. The caller was advised of her options.
– Police were called at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue for two missing juveniles. Both mothers said their children were playing in a back yard on South Lundy, but had not been seen for an hour. Officers were checking the surrounding area when another officer on a separate call noticed two juveniles in the rear of a business in the 400 block of Aetna. Both juveniles said they had chased a cat but then became lost and were trying to find their way back home. The juveniles were released to their mothers.
– Police were asked at 5:06 p.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of a man and two children on Ridgewood. The caller said the man appeared very agitated and had been seen slamming a door. Officers checked and everything appeared to be ok.
– Police were called at 4:37 p.m. Wednesday to Salem Regional Medical Center, 1995 E. State St., for a report of a man leaving without being discharged. Officers checked the surrounding area and did not locate anyone fitting the description. The person may have departed with someone in a vehicle.
– An obstructed roadway was reported at 1:32 p.m. Wednesdsay when a westbound train stopped and blocked the Allen Road crossing. Contact was made with Norfolk Southern which said the train would be moving shortly. Police advised the motorists on either side of the crossing.
– A dirt bike or 4-wheeler was reported on the road at 11:27 a.m. Wednesday at Jennings Avenue and West Seventh Street. An anonymous caller said the vehicle may have pulled into a drive on West Seventh Street. Police checked the area, but nothing was found.
PERRY Township
– A realtor reported at 1:24 p.m. Wednesday that a property listed in the 300 block of West Pine Lake Road had items removed from the residence sometime between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23. A preservation company had entered the property and found the items missing on Sept. 23. No forced entry was reported.
– Adam Milburn, 26, of 1966 S. Lincoln Ave., was taken into custody at his residence at 10:31 a.m. Wednesday on an active warrant for domestic violence out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. He was handed over to a deputy at a designated location.
– A tree was found across the road on Egypt Road at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday. The township road department responded and removed the tree to open up the roadway.
– Police investigated a non-injury accident at 6:38 a.m. Wednesday involving a northbound vehicle driven by John McGath of Washingtonville who was traveling on state Route 45 and failed to turn westbound onto state Route 14, running off the right side of the road into a sand pit. There was no damage to the vehicle and no citation was issued. The vehicle was removed by Sinsley Towing.
– Police on patrol at 4:01 a.m. Wednesday came upon a large limb that had fallen from a tree and was blocking the road. Police were able to remove the limb.
Columbiana
– John Roth of Columbiana reported at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday someone in a dark Ford Fusion was cutting people off and running red lights on state Route 164. Police checked but could not find the vehicle.
– A man reported at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday he needed help getting to another location. Police gave him the proper directions.
– Ron Michaux of Columbiana reported at 11:39 a.m. Wednesday he gave jewelry on consignment to Kimpel’s Jewelry three years ago and is still waiting to be paid.
– Bobby Jo Thomas, South West Street, reported at 2 p.m. Wednesday her 12-year-old daughter failed to return home last night and skipped school and she believed she had gone to another South West Street home with her boyfriend. The girl was found and turned over to the county sheriff’s office.
– A Beechwood Drive woman reported at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday there was a small of gas in the home. The fire department was notified and found a gas leak in the home and shut off the utility.
– Thomas Mercer, 23, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop near Dunkin Donuts at 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Lisbon
– Alison A. Zins, 24, East 11th Street, Salem, was cited for running a stop sign, resulting in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of state Route 517 and Route 164 at 8:54 a.m. Wednesday. Stephanie S. White, 54, state Route 46, New Waterford, was driving east on Route 517 when Zins ran the stop sign on Route 164, striking White’s vehicle and spinning it around until it was facing the opposite direction. White’s vehicle then struck a vehicle driven by Karen S. Landman, 62, of Kimbolton.

– Police responded at 1:53 a.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a 911 hangup call. The business and surrounding areas were checked, but nobody was found.
– An anonymous caller at 12:53 a.m. Wednesday reported suspicious activity at Home Savings & Loan, saying there were two men inside the bank with a white van parked outside. Officers arrived and determined the two men were cleaning the facility.
– A suspicious person was reported at the police station at 8:46 p.m. Tuesday after a driver had given a man a ride to the station. An officer spoke with the man, who officers had contact with in the past, and he was looking for a place to stay or taxi fare. He was told there were no funds for a taxi and to find a friend or family member to stay with.
– An officer on patrol at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday saw two vehicles stopped at the deadend cul-de-sac at Butcher Road near Pershing Street. Both vehicles were preparing to leave when the officer arrived. The occupants said they stopped briefly to talk and were on their way.
– A woman from Minerva reported at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday that a vehicle was stopped northbound at the traffic light on South Lundy Avenue at East State Street and she was also northbound behind the vehicle when the vehicle began to back up and struck the front of her vehicle. Both drivers exited their vehicles and found no damage. The driver of the first vehicle went on her way, but the Minerva woman came to the station to file a report. Due to no damage to either vehicle, only a local report was made.
– An audible alarm was reported at 6:06 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of South Union Avenue. An officer found the vehicle to be junk/abandoned. After the alarm was shut off, the vehicle was tagged with a 10-day removal notice.
– A reckless operator was reported at 5:57 p.m. Tuesday on North Union Avenue, but was not found.
– Michelle Peuterbaugh, 41, of Prospect Street, was cited for improper backing after backing from her driveway at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday and colliding with an eastbound vehicle driven by Richard Paxson, 31, of Salem, causing damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.

– Jonathan Weymer, Columbiana, was eastbound on state Route 14 approaching Springfield Road at 8 a.m. Tuesday and Andrew Smith, Wexford, Pa., was directly behind and failed to stop in time and struck Weymer’s vehicle. No citations were issued.
– Charles Pakosta, Stonehaven, reported at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday someone took out a loan in his name.
