SALEM REPORTS
– Police responded at 6:27 a.m. Saturday to an alarm activation in the 900 block of Benton Road. The exterior of the building was checked and found secure.
– Police were called at 5:32 a.m. Saturday to the 600 block of Ohio Avenue for a well being check for a person sitting in a running vehicle for several hours. An officer found a man asleep in the vehicle. He said he was finishing listening to something on the radio and must have fallen asleep a few hours before. He was in his own driveway and entered his residence.
– A city officer at 5:31 a.m. Saturday assisted Perry Township Police on a traffic stop in the 1100 block of West State Street. The driver was over the legal limit for alcohol and taken into custody by the township officer.
– A reckless vehicle was reported at 5:20 a.m. Saturday on West State Street/Benton Road, but wasn’t found.
– Police were called at 4:10 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of East Third Street to check on a female threatening to harm herself. She said she was having a problem with her roommates. Fire department first responders and an ambulance were requested and she voluntarily was transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– An officer on patrol at 3:38 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Pershing Street saw a suspicious blue Jeep parked in the Reilly Stadium parking lot with two people inside. The male and female said they were waiting for a cab patron. The male was a new cab driver and was told he needed to have cab markings. The person had not shown up yet. The driver said he would go pick up the markings to put on the vehicle.
– A harassment complaint was reported at 3:09 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Third Street where a woman who was intoxicated said her roommates were bothering her. All were told to go to their designated rooms and leave each other alone for awhile.
– A woman from Ridgewood Drive arrived at the police station at 1 a.m. Saturday and said her juvenile daughter recently separated from her boyfriend and now he’s posting unwanted pictures of her daughter in text messages. The reporting officer made contact with the male juvenile and told him in the presence of his guardian to cease and desist his actions. The matter will be sent to the department’s juvenile officer.
– John D. Gbur, 48, of 622 Park Ave., was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to his residence for a domestic dispute at 12:56 a.m. Saturday. According to the report, Gbur got into a physical altercation with his cousin and allegedly punched the victim and then wrestled him to the ground, causing both of them to fall down the cellar steps. Police had been to the residence earlier at 12:11 a.m. for a domestic. A female said she was struck in the face by her boyfriend and alleged he threw a beer can at her. No marks were observed on her. The boyfriend said he did not hit her and that he grabbed a beer can from her and crushed it, causing the beer to spill on the floor. Another male at the residence said the same, that he grabbed the beer and it spilled on the floor. He didn’t see any violence. The male and female both lived there and refused to leave. The domestic violence laws were explained.
– Officers checked the area of Kelley Park for a report of shots fired at 9:16 p.m. Friday, but didn’t locate anyone.
– Police were called at 8:10 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of South Union Avenue for a report of a male juvenile threatening to harm himself. EMT and fire department first responders arrived and the boy was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A caller at 8 p.m. Friday reported a vehicle struck a mailbox in the 1200 block of Jennings Avenue, but the vehicle could not be found.
– While in the 2400 block of East State Street, an officer at 7 p.m. Friday took a report from a Jefferson Avenue resident regarding identity theft.
– An unruly juvenile was reported at 6:12 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of East Third Street. A woman said her stepson was misbehaving and not listening. An officer spoke with the juvenile who said he would listen.
– An officer took a harassment report at 5:43 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue. The woman was told her options.
– An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of North Madison at 4:42 p.m. Friday to check the well being of a dog. The dog had been outside in the cold and barking. The officer spoke to the owner who said the dog wasn’t outside that long and came inside often. The officer checked the back yard and determined the dog had proper shelter and food.

SALEM
– The manager of a West State Street business reported at 2:36 p.m. Thursday that the boyfriend of an employee who had just been fired entered the store and verbally threatened her with physical harm. She said that she was generally fearful and wanted a menacing charge against him.
– An officer responded to a dispute in the area of East Fourth Street and Vine Avenue at 6:28 p.m. Thursday and found two men, one of which said that he was skateboarding and was almost struck by the other man’s vehicle while backing out of his driveway. The skateboarder was advised of skateboarding laws.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Fair Avenue at 11:33 p.m. Thursday where in reference to a man in dark clothing lurking in the area, but were unable to find anyone.
– Police responded to a Lexington Avenue apartment complex at 1:04 a.m. Friday for a report of loud persons in the parking lot. Officers were unable to find anyone outside, but were directed toward their apartment. No contact could be made.
– Police responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West Wilson Street at 10:17 a.m. Friday where a mailman had slipped on ice and possibly broke his ankle. The mail carrier was transported by ambulance to the hospital and an officer stood by with the mail until a replacement carrier could arrive.
– An officer responded to a 1200 Southeast Boulevard home at 11:50 a.m. Friday where a resident reported someone overnight had forced open a window on her vehicle that had been held up by a rubber stop. The resident said nothing appeared to be missing, but that the window was now damaged.

– Police responded with Perry Township Fire Department to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday for a reported natural gas smell. The smell was determined to be coming from South West Fuels and a representative was contacted to check the tanks.
– Police responded with emergency medical personnel to a medical emergency in the 600 block of Brittney Lane at 4:57 a.m. Wednesday and stood by until they cleared.
– An officer responded to a Highland West home at 12:12 a.m. Thursday after an ambulance service reported negative contact with a known patient after receiving a medical alert. The resident was found to be okay.
COLUMBIANA
– Myra Shablesky, Southern Terrace Park, reported at 10:33 a.m. Thursday she believed someone was near her trailer.
– Barb Roth, no address listed, reported at 12:10 p.m. Thursday she was involved in a verbal exchange with an irate driver on state Route 164.
– Erica Landsberger, no address listed, reported at 12:15 p.m. Thursday she was receiving harassing phone calls while at work on South Main Street.
– A Trailer America employee reported at 12:55 p.m. Thursday a trailer was stolen from the business back in 2013.
– Michael Baun, 31, Columbiana, turned himself in on a Columbiana County Sheriff warrant for trespassing stemming from incident at the 4WD Hardware on state Route 14 on Wednesday.

SALEM
– A city housing inspector called at 10:20 a.m. Thursday for an assist with the towing of a vehicle in the 100 block of West Third Street.
– Police responded to Monroe Apartments at 8:14 a.m. Thursday to speak with a resident about some things she said she was hearing.
– A burglary in progress was reported at 4:07 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Jennings Avenue where a man said he heard someone inside his residence and when he yelled, he saw two people running north from his home. Police did not locate anyone matching the description given. The resident was unsure if he locked the door and said the key had been stolen recently. He advised officers of the items stolen.
– A woman in the 100 block of West Pershing Street reported at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday that she and her ex-boyfriend had an argument and he pushed her. Officers spoke with the male who said she pushed him but he did not push her back. Neither had injuries and they separated for the evening. They were told the procedure for pursuing criminal charges.
– Police were called at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday about an assault in the 500 block of East Pershing Street. A large group of people were outside waiting to be picked up from the skate center by parents when a juvenile female had been harassing another girl attempting to leave. The juvenile victim, who was friends with the girl being harassed, intervened and told the suspect juvenile to leave the other girl alone. The suspect juvenile reportedly began swinging wildly and striking the victim, who attempted to defend herself and struck back. During the altercation, an adult female, thought to be the mother of the suspect juvenile, attacked the juvenile victim, dragging her into the street by the hair and slamming her to the ground. Numerous adult and juvenile witnesses affirmed that the adult mother of the suspect assaulted the juvenile victim. The victim declined medical treatment. Further investigation and charges are pending.
– Police were called at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday to East Third Street for a possible drug overdose, at first being told the incorrect address, but then being told the correct address in the 900 block near Hawley. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance responded. Officers did not see any contraband or narcotics at the scene. The person who found the victim said another unknown male left before police were called.
– An officer on patrol in the 200 block of West State Street was flagged down at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday regarding a vehicle with its four-way flashers on in a local car dealership lot. No audible alarm was on and the gates surrounding the lot were secure. Dispatch was advised to contact the dealership.
– A possible domestic dispute was reported at 6:34 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Rose Avenue where a woman said she heard some people in an upstairs apartment possibly yelling. Police determined there was no dispute, just the upstairs neighbor speaking loudly.
– A possible shoplifter was reported at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday at Family Dollar, 239 W. State St. An employee said a male set off the sensors at the door and failed to stop for an employee. He left in a white vehicle.
– A possible scam was reported at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday by a resident in the 500 block of East Fourth Street who said he was receiving phone calls from a male asking for money. He was told to cease contact with the caller, with police noting it appeared the calls were a scam.
– A woman in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue reported at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday that a dog in an upstairs apartment had been howling off and on since the night before. An officer attempted contact, but nobody was home. The woman contacted the Columbiana County dog warden.
– A resident in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue reported at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday that an unknown person forced entry into his garage and removed numerous power tools. The theft occurred in the last couple of weeks.
– Gary Porter, 62, of Tanglewood Drive, was cited for failure to yield after his vehicle pulled from a private drive at Marc’s on East State Street and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Pauline Quinn, 79, of Southeast Boulevard, at 2:04 p.m. Wednesday.
– An open door was reported at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The interior was checked and appeared OK. The residence was secured.
– A woman in the 100 block of North Union Avenue contacted police at 10:49 a.m. Wednesday regarding an incident with her landlord Tuesday afternoon. A neighbor was with her when they talked about some issues with the apartment when the landlord allegedly pushed his finger in her chest and pushed her. He also allegedly called her several vulgar names and left the apartment. No marks were seen on the woman’s upper chest. An officer spoke with the landlord who denied allegations. Statements will be gathered and sent to the prosecutor.
– Police at 10:03 a.m. Wednesday responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue for a report of a dispute which occurred in the 400 block of Washington Avenue. A woman reported having physical altercations with her live-in boyfriend. She wanted him to leave. She was told she would need to legally evict him. She was also told to call if anything gets physical between them again.

LISBON
– Police were called to a possible domestic dispute at 5 p.m. Tuesday on South Lincoln Avenue, where Henry Parks was talked into dropping the knives he was holding. Parks did not threaten anyone and said he only had the knives in the hopes police would shoot him. He was transported to a local hospital.
– Police were called to the homeless shelter on Maple Street at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday in regard to a phone harassment complaint from Kimberly Fields. Police spoke with someone by the name of Elisha, who said she quit contacting Fields after Fields told her to stop. Elisha was told not to have any further contact with Fields.
– Police were called to 845 N. Market St. at 9:15 p.m. Monday to stand by while an ambulance transported Kenny Haines to a local hospital.
– Jeremy Corbisello of Salem reported his Jeep was just backed into while parked in front of the barber shop on South Market Street at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. Norma J. Mustake, McSwiggen Road, Salineville, was backing into a parking spot when she struck Corbisello’s vehicle.
– Francine Bryant, West Lincoln Way, reported at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday hearing people walking around outside her home. Police searched the area but did not see anyone around.
COLUMBIANA
– Someone reported at 10:39 a.m. Wednesday that Michael Baun, an ex-employee of 4WD Hardware, was blocking the truck entrance at the business. Police told him to leave and that if he returned he would be charged with criminal trespassing. At 11:17 a.m., an employee reported Baun was back at the business. Baun told police at noon that officers were following him around and harassing him, at which point police told him that they were there because they had received calls from the business about him. At 1:16 p.m., Baun was cited for criminal trespass for going back on the property.

– Officers responded at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of Aetna Street, along with Columbiana County sheriff’s deputies, to attempt to locate a man with an active warrant. Several people were there, but the resident was uncooperative and said the suspect was not present.
– Debris was reported in the road at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard where a small piece of asphalt was sticking straight up out of the road, causing a traffic hazard. An officer moved the asphalt to the curb lawn and left a note for the street department.
– A Boardman woman reported at 9:07 p.m. Tuesday that she was harassed at her place of employment on the Salem Parkway. She already spoke to her superiors, but wanted a report on file.
– Loud music was reported in a motor vehicle in the 900 block of East Third Street at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was found in a driveway and an officer spoke with the driver, explaining the ordinance prohibiting loud music. He said he understood.
– A man from East Fourth Street spoke with an officer at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday about a phone scam. He had been receiving calls from a male who claimed to be with Publishers Clearing House, but called Publishers Clearing House and found out the male is not an employee. He was told not to cooperate with the male in the future.
– Police responded at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue where a resident reported having an altercation with her ex-fiance. He had been residing with her temporarily the past two weeks and left before police arrived. She said she wasn’t injured but he partially slapped her. She didn’t want to pursue charges but wanted the incident documented. The male was located on Continental Drive at 9:30 p.m. and the domestic violence laws were explained. Police returned to the apartment and spoke to both the female and male and they said they would be fine.
– Travis Faulkner, 27, of 585 Columbia St., was charged with theft and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of West State Street for a shoplifter who fled the scene. The suspect, identified as Faulkner, was located in the 500 block of Columbia Street.
– Florence Huff, 61, of Andrew Avenue, was cited for improper backing/starting after an accident in the parking lot of St. Paul School, 925 E. State St., at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday. The report said Huff was attempting to back into a parking spot behind the school near the kitchen entrance when she failed to brake and struck the building. She then put the vehicle in drive and drove forward, striking a pickup owned by James Taylor, of Beloit, which was parked in the lot. Huff was checked by KLG.
– An employee of Smith Oil, 900 block of East State Street, reported at 5:06 p.m. Tuesday that a female with light-colored hair driving a silver Chevy minivan pumped 11.8 gallons of fuel and left without paying.
– A woman in the 200 block of East Seventh Street reported at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday that her vehicle was unlocked and her boyfriend found the passenger side door open and the vehicle had been ransacked. She didn’t notice anything missing.
– A woman in the 700 block of East Third Street reported at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday that the lid to her trash container was stolen.
COLUMBIANA
– An Edgewood Court woman reported at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday her furnace was malfunctioning and a repairman was on his way but there was a gas smell in the home and she wasn’t sure how to shut it off until the repairman arrived. Firefighters were notified of the problem and went to check the home.
– Rory Altenburg, 42, Campbell, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on North Main Street at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday.
LISBON
– Robert White, North Jefferson Street, reported Tuesday receiving threatening and harassing calls from his brother. Police contacted Russell White, who said his brother is the one who will not stop calling him. The brothers were told to quit contacting each other.
– Heather Marcum, Pendleton Street, reported at 12:57 a.m. Tuesday her boyfriend kicked her out following an argument but she needed to return to gather some personal belongings to spend the night elsewhere. Police arrived and stood by while Marcum gathered her belongings.
– Jessica Phaup, West Washington Street, reported Monday her husband threw her cellphone, breaking it. Police said there was nothing they could do since the cellphone actually belongs to her mother-in-law.

– An officer responded to the 100 block of Pine Street for a parking problem at 8:28 p.m. Jan. 2.
– An officer assisted on a medical call in the 400 block of Somer Street at 3:32 a.m. Jan. 7.
– An officer responded to a West Main Street Extension home at 11:48 a.m. Jan. 7 for a report of a neighbor’s cow in the complainant’s back yard. The cow was returned to its owner without incident.
– An officer responded to an alarm activation at the Italian-American Club but found everything to be fine at 3:05 a.m. Jan. 11.
– An officer responded to an alarm activation at the Leetonia Community Public Library but found everything to be fine at 5:28 a.m. Jan. 12.
– A West Main Street resident reported on station at 10:53 p.m. Jan. 14 that his step-daughter’s boyfriend was at his home and he did not want him there. Officers responded to the home to talk to the step-daughter, but found no one there. An officer returned with a Washingtonville officer at 11:25 p.m. and advised the boyfriend he had to leave and not return.
– An officer responded to an Oak Street home at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 20 where the resident reported hearing noises outside the residence, but found no evidence of anyone having been there.
COLUMBIANA
– Shasta J. Fraser, 32, Coal Road, Vienna, Ohio, was eastbound on state Route 14 at 7:18 a.m. Monday and attempting to cross state Route 7 when she struck Joshua Cooper, 15, Timber Run Street, New Waterford, who was westbound on state Route 14 and attempting to turn left and failed to yield the right of way. He was cited for failure to yield making a left turn.
– A passerby reported a hit-skip in the Sunoco parking lot at 7:52 a.m. Monday.
– Lisa Zorella, Terra Verde Avenue, reported at 7:50 a.m. Monday her child was not wanting to get on the school bus.
– The Dollar General manager reported at 1:44 p.m. Monday someone paid for items using a $100 counterfeit bill on Sunday.
– A Columbiana High School employee reported at 2:22 p.m. a video projector was stolen from the building.
– A woman reported at 3:29 p.m. Monday someone in a red Ford Ranger on South Elm Street had a dead dog in the bed of the truck. Police checked the area but did not find the vehicle.
– The highway patrol requested at 5:20 p.m. Monday police look for someone in a brown pickup truck northbound on state Route 7 from Rogers who was driving recklessly. Police checked the area but did not see the vehicle.
– A man reported at 6:17 p.m. Monday a car and a utility trailer were oddly parked on North Middle Street near Stanton Avenue and he was concerned something was going on. Police checked and found someone was using a U-Haul to move from the residence.

LISBON
– Lisa M. Carter, 45, McKaig Road, Hanoverton, was charged Monday with theft for allegedly stealing $28 from the purse of Jolysa Richards while they were in the waiting room at the Community Action Agency health clinic. When confronted, Carter reportedly pulled the money from her pocket.
– Robbin Seidner, West Lincoln Way, reported Friday his brother Jimmy was acting odd and left what he felt was a threatening message on his answering machine.
SALEM
– Chad Behner, 31, of Mount Vernon, was taken into custody at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday at his place of employment in the 600 block of South Ellsworth Avenue on an active warrant from Licking County for failure to appear. He was taken to the Columbiana County jail.
– An officer following up on a call of a woman being locked out by her roommate found the woman standing outside the apartment at 9:51 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Walnut Street. She had gained entry but was upset over the male roommate wanting to throw her belongings out. The officer spoke with the male in another apartment and advised him how to evict her, noting that her property couldn’t be damaged or her belongings put out in the hallway and she couldn’t be locked out since she had lived there for a year. Both were told the same information together, too. Both were told to get along until she finds another place to live.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East Seventh Street. A juvenile said his dad was intoxicated and was scaring him. It was determined the man was in no shape to provide for the juvenile. Children Services was contacted. The juvenile was taken into protective custody until being turned over to the agency.
– A clerk at Smith Oil, 968 E. State St., reported at 6:54 p.m. Monday that the driver of a dark-colored SUV left without paying for $18 worth of gas.
– At 6:31 p.m. Monday, a man on West 14th Street reported losing his bank card. He was already taking steps to cancel the card.
– A woman in the 800 block of East Third Street called at 5:35 p.m. Monday to report an unknown dog in her back yard. The owner of the dog, who is a neighbor, came over and said his juvenile daughter let the dog out by accident. The dog owner was advised of the laws regarding dogs at large.
– An officer at 5:08 p.m. Monday checked the area of West State Street near Ellsworth Avenue for juveniles throwing items at passing cars. Nobody was found.
– Several reckless operators were reported at 4:56 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of East State Street, but the vehicles could not be located.
– A resident in the 500 block of East Third Street reported a breaking and entering at 12:58 p.m. Monday, noting a window had been removed where entry was gained. The incident is under investigation.
– A city employee at 9:49 a.m. Monday found an open door on a business in the 100 block of East State Street. Police checked the interior and found everything OK. The door was secured.

SALEM
– Police were called at 8:29 a.m. Monday regarding four tires illegally dumped in the rear of the dumpster at Gordon Bros., 776 N. Ellsworth Ave., sometime over the weekend. The garbage collector refused to take the dumpster Monday morning due to the tires. The dumping is under investigation.
– Officers checked for a possible prowler at 6:33 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of Deming Street. No footprints were found in the snow around the property and no one was around.
– A person came to the police station at 1:07 a.m. Monday to speak with an officer regarding an incident in the 300 block of West 10th Street.
– The owner of Salem Fun Factory, in the 500 block of East Pershing Street, reported at 12:14 a.m. Monday that a green Ford Explorer crashed into the building and several people left the scene on foot. Police found that the vehicle crashed into the north side of the structure, with extensive damage to the front end of the vehicle. The crash caused heavy damage to the electrical supply to the building and damage to the fire escape. The fire department, Ohio Edison and Columbia Gas were all called to the scene. It appeared the vehicle had been traveling in the east/west alley. The fire report said the vehicle struck the electrical box and sheared off the electric meter and cover of the box exposing service wires and ripping electrical wires from the connection. Ohio Edison disconnected the electrical service.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 12:07 a.m. Monday in the city. Both parties said everything was fine and refused to cooperate with officers, closing the door on them.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:39 p.m. Sunday pulling into various driveways and sitting with the lights off. The vehicle was not located.
– Christopher Plumlee, 34, whose last known address was East Third Street, was taken into custody on a warrant from the state of Texas at 10:06 p.m. Sunday after an officer stopped a person on a bicycle on East State Street at North Broadway Avenue for an alleged violation. He was placed in the Columbiana County jail on the active warrant as a fugitive from justice.
– A reckless vehicle was reported at 7:35 p.m. Sunday on South Howard Avenue off West State Street, but was not found.
– Austin J. Smith, 18, of Prospect Street, was cited for failure to yield after he exited a private drive and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Joshua Wharry, 33, of North Lima, in the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 6:39 p.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported.
– Police were called at 5:43 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 to 1200 block of East Sixth Street/East Fourth Street for a report of numerous deer in the area, with one possibly injured. They were not found at that time, but about 30 minutes later, police saw several deer along East Sixth Street just east of Union Avenue. None appeared injured.
– Officers spoke at 5:10 p.m. Sunday to two people who had been given a prior warning for a junk vehicle in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. They were seeking an extension of time. They were told a note would be left for the officer who issued the citation.
– Dylan Ruby, 23, of Beaver, Pa., was cited for possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 4:28 p.m. Sunday on Sharp Avenue and West State Street, with contraband found. A warning was issued for a traffic violation which led to the stop.
– Kendra Chestnut, 27, of South Union Avenue, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 2:09 p.m. Sunday on East Pershing Street and South Lundy Avenue.
– A resident in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 1:41 p.m. Sunday that sometime overnight, someone ripped the plastic tarp over the driver side window of his vehicle and went through the vehicle, trashing it.
– A reckless operator was reported at 1:23 p.m. Sunday in a truck with temporary tags at East State Street and Rose Avenue, but was not found.
– A welfare check was requested at 12:16 p.m. Sunday on a woman in the 800 block of East Sixth Street. Contact was made and she said she would call the relative who called for the welfare check.

– Police were called at 9:11 p.m. Sunday to a domestic situation in the 1100 block of West Perry Street involving a male and female in an argument. During the argument, the male allegedly broke a guitar on the floor and small pieces from the guitar may have struck an infant sitting on the floor. The female grabbed the infant and left the apartment to call police and an ambulance to have the infant checked out. KLG Ambulance responded and found minor scratches on the infant’s head but did not transport. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review. The male left after gathering a few belongings.
– A Salem resident reported at 1:45 p.m. Sunday that he was staying at a friend’s residence on Pembrooke Drive when the back window was broken out of his vehicle. Nothing was missing.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 12:03 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West Perry Street where police learned the dispute was verbal only between mother and daughter over family issues. Both apologized and said they didn’t think they were being loud. They were told to keep the noise down.
– Loud music was reported at 12:01 a.m. Sunday on Elberon Avenue. The report said the music was barely audible outside the residence when police arrived.
– An assault was reported at 7:49 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the trailer park on Benton Road, but police learned no assault took place. A dispute and alleged threats had been made. Both sides were told to stay away from each other.
– Mary C. Browne, 58, of Lisbon, struck a deer in the 1400 block of West State Street at 7:23 p.m. Saturday, causing moderate damage to the vehicle, which was driven from the scene.
– Police responded at 7:14 p.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of Highland Avenue for a report of stolen items from a vehicle. The matter is under investigation.
– Police received a complaint at 6:18 p.m. Saturday of suspicious activity in the area of Elberon Avenue, possibly drug-related. No suspicious activity was found after police checked the area.
– Suspicious activity and a vehicle were reported at 5:16 a.m. Saturday at Salem Acres on Prospect Street, but nothing was found.
WASHINGTONVILLE
– At 8:29 p.m. Jan. 17, police made a traffic stop on Davidson Avenue at High Street for driving under suspension.
– At 11:32 a.m. Friday, police assisted Goshen Township police with traffic control on state Route 14 near Lisbon Road.
– At 2:29 p.m. Friday, police checked on a reckless operation offense on West Main Street near Washingtonville Road.

– Police received a call from a resident in the 100 block of S. Howard Avenue on Sunday who was getting harassing text messages and said they would come on station later with more information.
– At 9:54 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2400 block of E. State Street for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. Police checked a business where the person was and the driver was not intoxicated.
– At 9:31 p.m. Saturday, a person was on station who found a bank credit/debit card in the lot of a local video store and placed it in the lost and found.
– At 8:28 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the N. Lincoln Avenue and E. 2nd Street area regarding a possible intoxicated driver and were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.
– Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State Street at 8:21 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised there was an irate man who was calm when police arrived. An officer spoke to his mother and advised her that store policy required identification for credit card purchases. She was very upset and advised multiple times but subsequently refused to accept what she was being told.
– At 7:05 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 900 b lock of E. Pershing Street where a complainant said a dog was tied in the backyard for two hours. The owner said it had only been for about 10 minutes.
– Police responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 6:22 p.m. Saturday for a suspicious person on a bike and were unable to locate a person matching the description.
– Police responded to the 700 block of E. Pershing Street at 6:16 p.m. Saturday for a male and female arguing but everything was OK.
– At 6:05 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of E. 5th Street where the complainant advised a woman who previously rented there was in the residence and wasn’t supposed to be. She said she was gathering personal belongings and had not been legally evicted or served eviction papers. The officer determined it was not criminal trespassing.
– At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of E. 4th Street regarding a dispute over property. The officer advised that without more specific proof of ownership of a television that was taken with a partially scratched-off serial number, he could not search the residence.
– At 11:06 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the N. Lincoln Avenue and E. 2nd Street intersection for a two-vehicle accident without injuries. Patricia K. Black, 1366 S. Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was northbound on N. Lincoln Avenue and Joseph Rinko, 11478 U.S. 62, Salem, was southbound on N. Lincoln Avenue when Black turned left onto E. 2nd Street and struck his left front bumper. Black was cited for failure to yield at an intersection and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

– Thomas E. Shaw, Rogers, was cited with driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 5:10 a.m. Saturday.
– Jackie Cruz, East Palestine, was cited with driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 3:51 p.m. Saturday.
– Police were asked to check on a woman at a North Haven address at 5:33 p.m. Saturday. All was fine.

– A complainant was on station at 4:48 a.m. Saturday who spoke with an officer about an incident in Perry Township. Police collected the information and passed it on to that police department.
– At 5:14 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 700 block of E. 3rd Street where a juvenile was having problems breathing and was transported to the hospital.
– Police responded to the 1700 block of E. State Street at 5:14 p.m. where a woman was choking and having trouble breathing. She was no longer having trouble when police, EMTs and an ambulance arrived. She refused transport to the hospital.
– At 5:56 p.m. Friday, police responded to a two-vehicle accident on W. State Street and Elm Street where the vehicle operated by John Daugherty, 610 W. State Street, was eastbound and sitting in the westbound lane on W. State Street as if in the middle turn lane waiting to turn left. He turned in front of another vehicle that struck his and he was cited for failure to yield.
– At 8:04 p.m. Friday, police assisted the Columbiana County sheriff in taking Paul E. Hoffee, 7263 Lisa Lane, Lisbon, into custody on an outstanding warrant. He advised police that a wanted person was not at the residence and police found the person in there. Hoffee was charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. He was taken to the county jail.
– At 8:22 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 400 block of Aetna Avenue to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff with multiple arrest warrants throughout the city. Multiple arrests were made and they were transported to the county jail.
– At 8:48 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 500 block of E. 3rd Street for a report of possible criminal damage where a television set was smashed on the sidewalk by two male juveniles. One helped clean it up while the other fled. An officer made contact with the juveniles and found the set belonged to one of them.
– At 12:36 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1400 block of S. Lincoln Avenue where the complainant advised that at her apartment complex in the 1300 block a newspaper deliverer was operating at a high rate of speed in the parking lot. She was advised it was private property and officers could not enforce speed there. She was advised police would keep and eye on the area.
– At 11:53 p.m. Friday, police responded to a three-vehicle chain-reaction collision in the 1100 block of W. State Street there no injuries. Mary Clark, 215 Clark Road, was cited for failure to maintain the assured clear distance.
– At 9:29 a.m. Friday, police responded to a business on W. State Street and were advised that about three weeks ago a man struck a vehicle on the lot and stated he contacted police but there was nothing on file. Police attempted to contact the man who said he did call someone at the business and provided information. He was advised to contact the business.
– At 2:41 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue where there was a person to be removed. They were gone when police arrived and police contacted the man and advised him if he went on the property again he would be charged with criminal trespassing.

-Ronald Deatley reported a case of fraud at Kimple’s Jewelry at 9:21 a.m. Friday.
-Virginia Holloway, Stanton Drive, was driving on East Park Avenue and was struck by Natalie Perez, Firestone Avenue, who failed to yield at a stop sign on South Elm Street at 10:53 a.m. Friday. Perez was charged with failure to yield.
-Police consulted a Whispering Pines Village resident who called regarding a phone scam at 12:35 p.m. Friday.
-Art Matheny called at 2:03 p.m. Friday to report a suspicious Honda that was seen pulling in and out of the Heck’s Restaurant parking lot.
-At 5:12 p.m. Friday, officers responded to an alarm drop at CompCo. When officers arrived, it was deemed an accident.
-At 5:37 p.m. officers responded to an alarm drop at Universal Percussion. Officers found it to be an equipment error.
-An employee of Barefoot Beach Tanning reported receiving harassing phone calls at 5:39 p.m.
-At 5:10 a.m. Saturday, Thomas Shaw, Rogers, was cited for driving under suspension at the Superior Beverage parking lot.

– Police were aware of a warrant for Nicholas C. Carson, 37, of Salem, and saw lights on inside his residence on East Pidgeon Road at 6:06 a.m. Friday. Contact was made and he was taken into custody and transported to a pre-arranged location where he was turned over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
– Shane Kibler, 25, of Salem, was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control after he reportedly swerved his vehicle on U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 to miss a deer and the vehicle ran off the right side of the road over a small embankment and became stuck at 11:24 p.m. Thursday. A tow truck pulled the vehicle out, but there was no damage to the vehicle.
– Police received an anonymous tip at 9:01 p.m. Thursday in reference to narcotics at an address on West Perry Street. The information was forwarded to the appropriate agency and township police assisted the agency with a check of the immediate area. No narcotics were located.
– Jesse Jackson, 36, of 1599 Grant St., Salem, was taken into custody at his residence on an outstanding arrest warrant from Columbiana County at 4:36 p.m. Thursday. He was transported to the county jail.
SALEM
– An officer on patrol in the area of Granite Avenue and Liberty Street at 2:45 a.m. Friday saw a yellow Pontiac sedan with the dome light on. The vehicle was checked and found secure.
– While checking a business on Legacy Lane at 12:53 a.m. Friday, an officer saw a 2014 Ford Focus with the engine running and no one around. The officer shut the engine off and secured the door, placing the keys in the drop box in the service department.
– An anonymous caller at 11:13 p.m. Thursday reported a possible natural gas leak in the Walmart parking lot. The fire department checked and was unable to detect a source of natural gas in the air.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 6:26 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot in the 2200 block of East Pershing Street. An anonymous caller said the black vehicle was sitting in the lot flashing its lights. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
– Suspicious persons were reported at 5:09 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of East State Street. The area was checked several times, but the person in question was not found.
– Police were called at 4:41 p.m. Thursday to assist Perry Township with a warrant arrest, but upon arrival, the township officer already had the person in custody.
LISBON
– Lori Donnalley, West Pine Street, reported at 8:55 a.m. Thursday two people were trying to get into her vehicle, and her husband was confronting them. Donnalley then told police she realized the people were from a repossession company and apologized for calling. Shortly after, Kevin Roush of the repossession company reported to police that they were being harassed at the address while trying to take the vehicle. Police stood by until everything calmed down.
– Dave Grunden, West Washington Street, reported at a.m. Thursday a GPS unit was reported stolen from his vehicle within the last few days.
COLUMBIANA
– A North Cross Street woman reported at 7:28 a.m. Thursday her fence was hit overnight.
– At 7:30 a.m. Thursday police received several calls about vehicles having been entered and items taken in the Cimarron Development and Hawkins and Pueblo lanes.
– Avery Sandoe, Union Street, reported at 10:46 a.m. Thursday he was receiving threatening text messages from his father.
– Mary Zimmerman, address not listed, reported at 9:51 p.m. Thursday she was being stalked by a man who was sending letters to her in the mail.

– A woman at 11:38 a.m. Thursday had a concern over a female at a residence in the 600 block of East Third Street and requested a welfare check. Officers made contact with the female and her boyfriend.
– An anonymous woman reported at 6:49 a.m. Thursday that she received over 200 unwanted text messages in the past two hours from a male known to her. She wants no contact from the person, but he refuses to stop texting her. Officers contacted Lisbon Police to make contact with the male at his residence and tell him to have no more contact with her.
– A resident in the 800 block of East Fourth Street reported at 4:10 a.m. Thursday that three people attempted to enter his vehicles. They entered one vehicle and when they attempted to enter a second one, the alarm activated. They fled once they heard the alarm. He was unsure if anything was missing. Officers checked the area, but did not locate anyone.
– An audible alarm was reported in the 700 block of South Broadway at the AMVETS at 2:17 a.m. Thursday. The building was found secure.
– A domestic was reported at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of West 10th Street where a female said her ex-boyfriend entered her residence and started fighting with her. She had no injuries and just wanted him to leave. The male was located upstairs and advised nothing physical happened. Both left.
– A man from the 500 block of East Euclid Street reported at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday that a suspicious male was possibly trying to gain entry into vehicles in the neighborhood. He confronted the male, but the male fled on foot.
– Officers responded to several locations to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office in locating people wanted on active warrants. Two males were taken into custody at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday and taken to the county jail by deputies. They were Todd Allen Kirtley, of 408 S. Ellsworth Ave., and Mark A. Lewis, of 1094 Cleveland St.
– A man in the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue reported at 5:13 p.m. Wednesday that a third party advised him that two known males made numerous threats directed toward him. Officers made contact with the suspects and told them to have no contact with the man.
– A woman on East Euclid Street reported at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday that sometime overnight, unknown persons unlawfully entered her property, walked down the drive and ransacked a truck parked there. Nothing appeared to be missing but the center console was opened and some items in the floor caddy were gone through.
– Daniel Elliott, 41, of 234 Washington Ave., was taken into custody on a warrant from Columbiana County for failure to appear. Elliott was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic stop at 2:29 p.m. Wednesday on East Third Street.
– Police responded at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday to Taco Bell, 1872 E. State St., where a black pickup backed up and struck a white fence that had just been repaired. The trailer hitch must have struck the fence as the truck backed into a parking space. An officer spoke with the owner of the truck who said he would take care of it with Taco Bell or have his insurance company handle it.
– A woman in the 800 block of East Third Street reported at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday that she checked her post office box for a package that was reported to have been delivered and it was not there. She spoke with the postmaster and he advised her to give it a few days to see if the package was located. She wanted it documented.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
– Todd Blackburn, 47, of Boardman, was cited for assured clear distance after his westbound pickup struck the rear of a westbound car driven by Cathy Seigler, 57, who had pulled from a stop sign on Snyder Road and stopped due to oncoming traffic on Depot Road at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Minor damage was reported to both vehicles, which were driven from the scene.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Plymouth Place at noon Wednesday after a concerned neighbor located an open garage door and an open door into a residence. No forced entry was found. Officers checked the interior of the residence and nothing appeared out of order. The residence was secured and police left.
– Dawn Lazer, 56, of Salem, reported at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday that her southbound vehicle struck a deer on North Lincoln Avenue near the U.S. 62 bypass. The vehicle sustained minor damage.
– Police were requested by St. Clair Township Police to contact the owner of a vehicle found in a creek with no one around. Perry Township Police contacted the owner in the 1100 block of Prospect Street and was told a family member had the vehicle. The information and a contact number for that person was passed on to St. Clair Township officers.
Columbiana
– Robert B. Buckner, 47, Poland, was stopped on Heck Road at state Route 14 at 1:43 p.m. Monday and then moved forward for a better view of traffic and stopped and then moved forward again and stopped and was struck from behind by Michael K. Irwin, 50, Vienna, Ohio. No citations were issued.
– John Taylor, 74, Garfield Road, was southbound on North Main Street at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday and stopped at the state Route 164 traffic signal when Brenda Stockman, 46, East Woodland Avenue, who was also southbound on North Main, stopped at the traffic signal behind Taylor and was struck by Taylor when he began to back his vehicle to allow another driver to enter the road in front of him. No citations were issued.
– A woman reported at 8:49 a.m. Wednesday someone in a blue Lancer was driving erratically from Salem to Columbiana. Police found the vehicle parked at a Union Street home.
– A woman reported at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday there was a reckless driver eastbound on state Route 14. Police found the vehicle was having mechanical issues and stood by until help could arrive.

SALEM
– A man in the 200 block of South Union Avenue reported at 9:06 a.m. Wednesday that sometime between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, persons unknown gained entry into his residence by breaking in through the garage door and stole a loaded 12-gauge shotgun in a case. Nothing else was missing. The victim didn’t notice until Wednesday morning that the garage door was kicked in.
– Police were contacted at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday by the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office to check a residence on Bank Street after their department received several 911 calls from that location. Officers made contact with the residents and learned two small children were playing with the phone and made the calls. The children admitted to making the calls and the adults at the residence were told to monitor the children so no more calls are made.
– A woman from West School Street spoke with an officer at 1:06 a.m. Wednesday regarding telecommunications harassment, saying her stepdaughter and her stepdaughter’s boyfriend were harassing her via text messages. The officer made contact and told them to stop contacting the woman.
– An officer on patrol at Waterworth Memorial Park at the duck pond off of East School Street noticed a vehicle in the parking lot at 12:29 a.m. Wednesday. The driver was told the park was closed and he needed to leave, which he did.
– A custody dispute was reported at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue where people involved were told the matter was civil. Both parties acknowledged this and one refused to turn over the children.
– Police responded to a parking complaint filed at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Washington Avenue. A parking ticket was issued.
– A man reported finding property in a parking lot in the 300 block of East State Street at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday. Contact was made with the business owner and the property was placed in the police lost and found. The report did not say what the property was.
– Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of East Third Street where two male residents had an argument. One of the males left and residency laws were explained to the other male.
– Police responded to the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a report at 5:53 p.m. Tuesday of 911 hangup calls. An officer went to the first of two locations, but no contact was made at the first one. A male in one of the apartments at the other location advised everything was OK. No contact was made at the other two apartments.
– A woman on Fair Avenue reported identity theft at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday, telling police that three credit cards from multiple stores were opened in her name and had been used for up to $4,500 in charges in New York state.
– An unruly juvenile was reported at Salem High School at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. The female had become disruptive during an after school event. She was taken to her residence and released to a parent.
– An unruly juvenile was reported on Lexington Avenue at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday, allegedly throwing things at her mother. The mother said the daughter wasn’t acting like herself and seemed like she was under the influence of something. The juvenile advised she was with two male juveniles who gave her four prescription pills to take. Fire department first responders and EMT arrived and the girl was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– A resident in the 500 block of West Sixth Street reported at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took $3 to $4 in change.
– An anonymous caller at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday reported a television in the road at East State Street and Cunningham Road. An officer responded and found no television, but there was a large amount of glass, which the officer swept to the side of the road.
– Jessica Roepke, 23, of Duck Creek Road, was cited for assured clear distance after her eastbound vehicle in the 2400 block of East State Street struck the rear of an eastbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Salem male, causing his vehicle to strike another eastbound vehicle driven by Stephanie Daley, 41, of Seacrist Road, at 2:03 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
LISBON
-Kenneth Webush, East Washington Street, reported Monday he had helped his friend Paul Fink by letting him stay with him starting three weeks ago, and during that period Fink was to find a job, but that has yet to occur. Webush ordered Fink to leave, which he did, but Fink was later found in Webush’s car. The family resolved the situation by transporting Fink to a homeless shelter in Youngstown, and Fink said he was OK with that.
– Amanda Garretson, North Jefferson Street, reported Tuesday she was unable to contact Thomas Foley, who has her son, but he would not answer the door or phone. Police left a message for Foley, who returned the child. The couple were told they needed to get a visitation schedule in writing from a judge to avoid future situations such as this.
– Larry Cloud, West Washington Street, reported Monday having a dispute with his ex-girlfriend over an exchange of possessions. An arrangement was made for both of them to make the items available for the other to retrieve.
– An ambulance crew asked for police to meet them at the apartment of Kenneth Haines, North Market Street, at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday. Haines had contacted the ambulance company but he told them he was fine and did not need to go to the hospital.
– Sue Martin, Sunset Drive, reported at 6:38 a.m. Friday the motion lights in her garage keep coming on, and police arrived to find the garage secure and no one inside. Police told Martin she might have a rodent in the garage that is setting off the motion light.
– Jim Leake reported seeing the lights on inside the Church of Christ on North Beaver Street at 3:19 a.m. Tuesday. One of the church doors was found open by police but there was no one inside and the church appeared to otherwise be secure.
COLUMBIANA
– Police were called to 162 N. Main St. at 1:36 a.m. Tuesday for a noise complaint. They were unable to make contact with anyone inside the home.
– Larry Starkey, New Waterford, was found to have an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop on Fairfield Avenue near Duquesne. He was also cited for no operator’s license and expired registration. He was then taken to the police station where he was picked up by a sheriff’s deputy.
– Todd Kirtley, New Waterford, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 12:38 p.m. Tuesday.
– Police removed a club from James Donnalley’s vehicle on South Main Street at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday per a Bureau of Motor Vehicles order.
– Verona Floyd of Youngstown was stopped eastbound on state Route 14 near the 4WD Hardware at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday when her FedEx vehicle was rear-ended by Zechariah Harris of East Liverpool. Harris was cited for assured clear distance.

– City police posted some advice on the department’s Facebook page Tuesday telling residents to lock their car doors and refrain from leaving valuables in their vehicles after noting several reports of unlocked vehicles being entered recently, including overnight. A woman on East Euclid Street called at 7:39 a.m. Tuesday to report nothing taken and no damage when her vehicle was entered. Another woman called at 7:34 a.m. Tuesday to report items moved around in her unlocked vehicle on Homewood Avenue. A woman on Aetna Street reported at 5:41 a.m. Tuesday that nothing was taken from her vehicle but items from the center console were spread out on her driver seat. She thought the doors had been locked but said they must have been unlocked since there was no sign of forced entry.
– Police responded to a complaint at 2:11 a.m. Tuesday of one to be removed from a residence in the 100 block of South Howard Avenue where a woman said a female acquaintance was pounding on her door wanting to be let in. She told the female she did not want her there. She was gone when officers arrived.
– An officer at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday saw debris in the road in the 100 block of North Howard Avenue and removed it.
– Daniel Haschak, 18, of Pearl Street, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield and one way road after driving a vehicle westbound in an alley that is eastbound only, going through the intersection at North Broadway Avenue and striking a vehicle driven by Kimberly Papadeonise, 49, of East Eighth Street, who was southbound in the 200 block of North Broadway Avenue at 5:19 p.m. Monday. Fire department first responders arrived on the scene due to Papadeonise injuring her neck on the seat belt. She refused transport to the hospital by an ambulance. No other injuries were reported.
– Police were called at 5:01 p.m. Monday to a business in the 500 block of East Pershing Street for a person to be removed. An officer spoke with the owner and the juvenile in question. The juvenile was told he’s not allowed to return to the business.
– An audible alarm was reported at 4:54 p.m. Monday on Elm Avenue. Officers checked the building and left without incident.
– Todd Conduff, 52, of Aurora, was cited for assured clear distance after his northbound vehicle struck the rear of another northbound vehicle driven by Glenn Morrow, 57, of state Route 45, Salem, in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:38 p.m. Monday. According to the police report, Conduff said his foot slipped off the brake. Morrow was stopped for the traffic light at Lincoln and State. He and his two juvenile passengers, ages 5 and 11, were all taken by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible injuries.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
– Police responded at 9:42 p.m. Monday to the Fresh Mark parking lot, 1735 S. Lincoln Ave., for a hit/skip. Jordan Sheppard of Kent reported damage to the front bumper of her vehicle. The matter is under investigation.
– A woman and her son responded at 2:36 p.m. Monday to the police department to report being threatened by a female while at the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday morning.
– Jacob Nicklin, of the 1100 block of West Perry Street, reported at 7:36 a.m. Monday that someone went through his unlocked vehicle. He didn’t believe anything was taken.
– An officer on patrol at 8:21 p.m. Sunday saw an open trunk on a vehicle parked at a residence on Devonshire Drive. Contact was made at the residence and it was learned the operator attempted to secure the vehicle remotely and pushed the trunk release instead of the door lock button. The trunk was secured.
– Police were called at 7:51 p.m. Sunday to an apartment in the 1100 block of Prospect Street where an unruly juvenile was refusing to come out of a bedroom at the parent’s request, locking the parent out. An officer spoke with both parties and advised the juvenile of the consequences if actions continued, after the officer gained access to the bedroom.
– An officer at 6:01 p.m. Sunday responded to a civil complaint over child custody in the 200 block of Plymouth Place. The man who called advised according to court documentation, he was to have the children at this time, but the mother, who has shared custody, wouldn’t release them. After telling both parents it’s a civil matter that’s up to the courts to enforce, the officer advised it would be in their best interests to adhere to the court documentation and not be in contempt by violating the court documents.
– Police were called at 11:15 a.m. Sunday to the 200 block of Lake Avenue for a problem between a repossession company and the alleged owner of a vehicle being repossessed. A man from Interlink Recovery Services Inc. said he had an order to repossess a vehicle for lack of payment, but the alleged owner of the vehicle was refusing to cooperate and would not turn over the keys to the vehicle or move another vehicle blocking the driveway. After speaking with a prosecutor, the vehicle was removed by driving through the yard.
– Township police at 4:04 a.m. Sunday assisted Columbiana Police in finding a burglary suspect who fled on foot. Columbiana Police had the suspect’s cell phone pinged and found the location to be a relative’s residence on Prospect Street. Perry Township Police and Salem Police went to the residence and located the suspect, taking the person into custody and handing the person over to Columbiana Police.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– A Garfield Road juvenile female reported at 12:10 a.m. Jan. 11 that anonymous accounts were made on Twitter and hateful things posted to them.
– A patrolling officer discovered an open door at a residence in the 14000 block of state Route 534 at 12:07 p.m. Jan. 11.
– A Stratton Road resident reported misuse of a PayPal/credit card account at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 11.
– An officer responded to a 15000 block Garfield Road home at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 12 for a report of identity theft.
– An officer responded to a 9000 block state Route 45 home to perform a welfare check at 5:51 a.m. Jan. 14. The resident said she couldn’t find her remote.
– A state Route 45 resident reported on station at 12:34 p.m. Saturday that his estranged wife had violated the terms of a protection order by using a friend of his daughter to pass information along to him and his family. He said she had previously been using a similar tactic of sending messages through his mother.
– Raymond Ortiz, 21, Youngstown, was arrested on an active warrant and charged with driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia, fictitious plates and left of center following a traffic stop on Sunday.
Lisbon
– Jamie Brown, West Washington Street, reported she went to warm up her unlocked vehicle on Sunday when she discovered it had been ransacked. Believed stolen were a GPS device, some change and four $1 bills. Brown called later to say she found the GPS device under her vehicle seat, but the money was still missing.
Columbiana
– A Save A Lot employee reported at 8:45 a.m. Monday a customer was drunk and trying to get into his work truck for Dynamic Structures and was headed toward the city. Police found the truck parked in a private driveway and did not see any traffic violations.
– East Palestine police requested back up on a call at 100 N. Market St. in East Palestine at 6:42 p.m. Monday.
– Someone reported at 9:21 p.m. Monday a possibly intoxicated driver was headed into the city on state Route 14 from Washingtonville. Police checked the area but did not see the vehicle.
– A Quick Mart employee on state Route 14 reported at 10:49 p.m. Monday there was a possible shoplifting incident and they believed the suspect may still be on the property. Police checked but did not find the suspect.

SALEM
– Police were called at 8:53 a.m. Monday for a water line break in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue. A responding officer saw water flowing out of the ground and told dispatch to contact the water department.
– James Cross, of the 200 block of West Eighth Street, called police at 6:17 a.m. Monday to report criminal damage to a motor vehicle. The owner was told to contact the insurance company about the incident. He didn’t know if anything was taken from the vehicle.
– Police responded to the 1100 block of East Ninth Street for an attempted suicide at 2:37 a.m. Monday, advised of the general area of the person’s location by Help Hotline, but unable to find the person. After further investigation, the person was eventually located at his residence on Aetna Street. Fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance came to the scene and the person was voluntarily transported to a hospital for treatment.
– An audible alarm was reported at 9:39 p.m. Sunday at a bank in the 2200 block of East Pershing Street, with police responding at the request of bank security to check the building. The exterior of the building was found secure.
– An anonymous person came to the police station at 4:08 p.m. Sunday with property found in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The property was placed in the police lost and found. The report didn’t give a description of the property or say what it was.
– Kenneth Ray Davis Jr., 18, of West South Range Road, was cited for marked lanes after a two-vehicle incident at 4:06 p.m. Sunday at Southeast Boulevard and South Madison Avenue. Davis was northbound on Southeast Boulevard and said his vehicle started to slide into the southbound lane. A 16-year-old male from Lisbon was traveling south on Southeast Boulevard when he noticed the other vehicle coming into his lane causing him to swerve off the road to avoid contact.
– A domestic was reported at 3:29 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Wilson Street where officers spoke with both people who advised they got into a verbal altercation, but no physical violence occurred. The male half was moving out and the female was having thoughts of harming herself. She voluntarily went with EMT ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– Amy Hall, of the 500 block of East Seventh Street, reported at 3:26 p.m. Sunday that someone unknown entered her vehicle while it was parked in the drive and took several items. She was told her options.
– Jaylene Nelson, 20, of Prospect Street, was cited for a red light violation after her westbound vehicle on East State Street failed to stop for a red light at Broadway Avenue and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Helaine Mercer, 70, of South Lincoln Avenue, at 3:23 p.m. Sunday. Mercer was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG for non-incapacitating injuries.
– A woman in the 400 block of Park Avenue reported at 2:21 p.m. Sunday that a former health care worker accidentally took home her car keys. She called the health care workers and she said she would bring them back when she got a chance. The keys had not been returned yet and she wanted it documented.
– An officer responded to Sparkle Market parking lot after being called at 9:41 a.m. Sunday for a motor vehicle lockout, meeting a female owner who was standing by a car and claimed it was hers and it was locked. A waiver was signed and the officer attempted to unlock it when the vehicle’s actual owner came outside and asked why the officer was there. The female had apparently gotten confused because her car looked just like the one the officer attempted to unlock. No further problem was reported after the female found her vehicle a few spaces down.
COLUMBIANA
– Penny Taggart, Firestone Avenue, reported at 1:56 a.m. Sunday her ex-boyfriend attempted to gain entry into her home by picking the lock on the door. Clint Geho, 34, Salem, was arrested for burglary, assault, unlawful restraint and theft of credit card. He is currently being held in the county jail.
– A woman reported at 3:16 p.m. Sunday there were five to six cars parked on the side of Seventh Street in a no parking zone. Police notified the owners of the vehicles who agreed to move from the area.
LISBON
– Police were called to Applegrove Apartments at 7:40 p.m. Friday for a report of a private property accident. Police spoke to Krislyn Conrad, who said that while pulling out of the parking lot she hit a large rock in the grass, causing damage to her vehicle.
– Police were called to Applegrove Apartments at 4:31 p.m. Friday for a report of a man requesting to go to the hospital. The man told police he was having suicidal thoughts and felt lonely at his apartment. Police stayed with the man until EMS arrived to take him to SRMC.
– Police were called to the Church of the Nazarene on Market Street at 10:57 a.m. Sunday for an elderly woman having a seizure. Police found the woman sitting on her own and breathing and stood by until EMS arrived to take her to SRMC.
– Mike Ikert reported at noon Sunday he was working at Night Court the night before and his daughter’s medications were taken from his vehicle.
WASHINTONVILLE
– At 4:32 p.m. Wednesday, police cited a motorist for driving under suspension on West Main Street near Walnut Street.

– Police responded to a 500 block East State Street business at 7:31 p.m. Saturday where an employee reported a man loitering in the store without buying anything and that the man was believed to have stolen items from the store previously and was banned. The man said he was waiting for a ride home and was warned that he was not welcome.
– An officer responded to a 1400 block Quaker Lane home at 5:43 a.m. Sunday for a report of a vehicle left running in a garage for over an hour and found the vehicle partially inside the garage with no one inside. The officer spoke with the owner who said she was charging her cell phone and fell asleep, forgetting to shut the vehicle off.
– An officer attempted a traffic stop for a moving violation in the area of Southeast Boulevard and Kennedy Drive at 1:56 a.m. Sunday in which the driver failed to comply. The driver eventually stopped at the Salem Regional Medical Center and said that his son was having a medical emergency. The son was taken inside and the driver warned against his actions.
– Police responded to the 500 block of Broadway Avenue at 3:07 a.m. where a woman reported someone during the evening hours had entered her unlocked vehicle and apparently went through the vehicle but did not take anything.

– A caller reported there was a suspicious man walking between the Arby’s and Burger King plazas at 3 a.m. Saturday, but police did not find anyone about.
– April Leishman came to the police station at 11:08 a.m. Saturday to report being assaulted by Stephanie Oesterreich at a basketball game held at the Nazarene Church. Oesterreich indicated she had also been assaulted, but neither party wished to press charges,
– A ambulance driver reported that while traveling on state Route 14 at 10:32 p.m. Saturday someone in a silver Honda came up from behind and began flashing their lights. Police stopped the vehicle and cited the driver, David Suders of McKees Rocks, Pa., for driving with an expired license.

– Police responded to an East Ninth Street home at 7:48 a.m. Friday where the resident reported someone had stolen his vehicle out of the driveway overnight. The resident’s girlfriend discovered the vehicle in an alley on the east side of the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 11:46 a.m. that day. The vehicle had been ransacked, but the only thing missing was some loose change.
– An officer responded to a domestic dispute in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 1:39 p.m. Saturday in which a woman claimed a physical altercation had occurred with her ex-husband when he arrived to pick up their children. Officers observed no signs of injury and the ex-husband denied the claim when contacted by police. The information was turned over to the prosecutor’s office for review.
– An 1100 block South Ellsworth Avenue resident reported at 1:44 p.m. Friday reported someone had shot a projectile at a side door causing a large chip in the glass.
– Timmogene Leroy Howell Jr, 23, Youngstown, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for trafficking drugs after officers were advised he was traveling in the area of Continental Drive and Bentley Road at 1:48 p.m. Friday.
– Police responded to a report of a man sleeping under the overpass at 6:02 p.m. Friday and found him in a nearby business parking lot. He said that he was homeless and had been sleeping under the overpass, but he was warned that he was trespassing on city property.
– Officers responded to a complaint of loud persons in the 400 block of Vine Avenue at 2:38 a.m. Saturday and found a man and woman talking loudly outside their home. They were advised to keep the noise down. Officers returned to the home at 5:46 a.m. that morning for a 911 hang-up, but could not make contact with the residents, and then again later the same morning for a report of an assault, at which time they found a woman in the bathroom with apparent self-inflicted wounds to her wrists. She was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
– Police responded to an 1100 block East Ninth Street home at 10:04 a.m. Saturday where the resident reported a man he knows had entered the residence and passed out on the couch. He said that when he confronted the man, the man said he thought it was his parent’s house and left before officers arrived.
– Police responded to a 300 block West Fourth Street home at 12:46 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone had taken a pill bottle containing 48 generic brand Percocets from her medications bag in her bedroom.
– An officer responded to a Cleveland Street home at 1:32 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone had egged the front of the house.
Columbiana
-Police responded at 6:03 a.m. Friday to a report of a smoke alarm going off at an Elm Street residence. Upon inspection, everything was secure.
-Elsie Wolfgang, Lower Elkton Road, called police at 11:49 a.m. Friday to report her vehicle as missing from the Family Drug parking lot. The car was found at Chase Bank.
-Police received a call from state Route 14 at 7:46 p.m. Friday about a small child in dark clothing wandering close to the road without any adults around. Police confirmed that the child was accompanied by an adult.
-An employee of Burger King called at 9:40 p.m. Friday to report a car coming through the drive through that smelled heavily of marijuana. The driver blew smoke into the store and left prior to police arrival.
-An unknown caller complained at 9:41 p.m. Friday that prior to driving under the railroad underpass on Lisbon Street, her car was egged. An officer checked the area noting that someone was on the bridge but the suspect was not found.
-Alvin Salter, Youngstown, was cited on state Route 14 for driving under suspension, following a traffic stop at 10:48 p.m. Friday.
Center Township
-On Friday, police charged Kyle Tremain, state Route 45, Lisbon, with driving under suspension, following a traffic stop on South Market Street.

-Police were called to a domestic dispute on East Lincoln Way at 2:41 p.m. Wednesday which involved yelling and the parties throwing some items about, but not at each other. The couple calmed down and assured police everything would be fine.
– A clerk at the BP station reported a couple appeared to be arguing while sitting in a vehicle in the gas station parking lot at 4:56 a.m. Thursday. The couple was identified as Michelle Bryson and John A. Pinero, who were on their way back from Pittsburgh to Canton when they became lost. Pinero was found to have an arrest warrant for him out of Texas, but the Texas authorities were not interested in extraditing him. The couple were told how to get to Canton.
-Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 3:45 p.m. Thursday to stand by while an ambulance crew transported a man threatening suicide to a local hospital.
PERRY TWP.
– At 6:27 a.m. Friday, police checked on a person walking on the by-pass near state Route 9 and Michael Jones of East Liverpool was found to have an outstanding warrant from Columbiana County. He was taken into custody and transported to a pre-arranged location and turned over to a deputy.
– At 1:43 a.m. Friday, police came upon a vehicle that had left the road at the U.S. 62/state Route 45 bypass at state Route 14F. The driver, Michael A. Loughry of Akron, was cited for reasonable control. There were two passengers in the vehicle and there were no injuries and minor damage to the vehicle that was removed by Sinsley Towing.
– Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 1200 block of Georgetown Road at 8:19 p.m. Thursday, involving a Michael L. Schmidt, 1316 Willoway Ave., S.E., N. Canton, who was westbound on Georgetown Road. He struck a trailer attached to a pickup operated by Raymond E. Hoover, 968 Baird Ave., S.E., Paris, that was stopped in the eastbound lane of road prior to backing into a driveway. Schmidt’s vehicle struck the trailer in the driver’s side dual wheels and went off the north side of the road. The trailer and pickup were backed into the driveway at 1267 Georgetown Road, prior to police arriving. Schmidt’s vehicle and the trailer from the pickup were towed from the scene by Davidson’s Towing and Schmidt was cited for failure to stop in the assured clear distance and Hoover was cited for marked lanes/left of center. No injuries were reported by either driver.
– Police responded to the 1700 block of state Route 344 at 11:33 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an animal that was outside with no shelter. Police did not observe an animal outside.
– Police responded to the 1500 block of Grant St. at midnight Wednesday for a male subject who had stopped taking his medicine and his doctor wanted him taken to the hospital for examination of his mental status. Police observed that he had thrown all his clothing and a television into the front yard. Police spoke to him and he refused to be taken into custody and started to fight with police before a taser was used to subdue him and he was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The male will be charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest when he is released from the hospital.
COLUMBIANA
– A caller reported at 4:38 a.m. someone had been sitting in a vehicle for over an hour with the engine running on Beechwood Drive. It turned out to be a man who was warming up his car for work but had fallen asleep.
– Alen James, 51, of Ravenna, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 14 near the McDonald’s restaurant at 9:26 p.m. Thursday.
SALEM
– Police responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue for a suspicious person knocking on the complainant’s door. The person was on the front porch when police arrived and said he was just trying to get home. He was given a courtesy ride to where he lived.
– At 12:38 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 200 block of East Third Street where two roommates were arguing due to one making the other listen to a phone call from a person she did not want to have contact with. The complainant advised the male subject threatened to harm her with a knife. An officer spoke to the man who denied threatening the complainant and was advised to cease contact with the complainant. Police responded to the same address at 11:56 p.m. Thursday where the complainant advised she was being contacted by a female she did not want to contact her. An officer spoke to the woman and advised her to cease all contact with the complainant or she could face charges.
– At 6:26 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street where a healthcare worker said one of her patients had a prescription taken from a local pharmacy. Information was gathered and the incident is under investigation.
– Police in the East State Street and Fair Avenue area at 5:29 p.m. Thursday were approached by a man who was recently released from the hospital and had no way to get to his home in Lisbon. Police took him to the station until a family member could be contacted and his step-father responded and gave him a ride home.

– William Barringer, of the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, reported at noon Thursday that several items were taken from his truck overnight, including a tool box, several wrenches, sockets, drill bits and tips inside the tool box. Loose change was also missing. Footprints were found in the snow around the vehicles, a trailer and the garage.
– A suspicious person was reported at 10:29 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot on Reilly Avenue. An officer spoke to the owner of a vehicle on Ohio Avenue at Franklin who said a male had gone onto a porch and removed a duffle bag dropping it beside a vehicle in the parking lot. The female owner of that vehicle said the duffle bag belonged to her son who was moving out. She and her husband were helping him move his belongings.
– An officer on patrol at 2:26 a.m. Thursday noticed a bobcat with the lights on in the Salem Regional Medical Center north parking lot, checked the vehicle and noticed some other machinery/equipment running. The vehicles were being warmed up to be used by employees to clear snow from the parking lot.
– Suspicious people were reported walking down an alley in the area of West State Street and Jennings Avenue. The two people were located at West State and Howard Avenue. They said they were walking from a friend’s house to Speedway. Nothing suspicious was observed.
– A woman from the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue reported at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday that her son’s phone was stolen from the high school on Sixth Street.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Fair Avenue Wednesday with Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputies to assist them in serving a man with a court order to vacate the residence and have no contact with the female resident. The man was known to have violent tendencies and had previously made threats of using firearms to defend himself. Deputies served him with the court papers and he became agitated and had to be warned several times to cease his behavior. He was told to have no contact of any kind with the female. He was permitted to gather some personal belongings and was told to contact an attorney to arrange to retrieve any further belongings from the residence.
– A well-being check was requested at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of East Fifth Street. Contact was attempted several times, but nobody answered the door.
– A juvenile problem was reported in the 900 block of West Wilson Street where an officer spoke with the parents who said their 9-year-old son has not been listening and has been causing problems at home and on the bus to school. The officer spoke to the boy about the importance of cooperating with his parents and at school.
– A man in the 500 block of Cherry Street reported at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday that when his girlfriend left the residence after an argument, she allegedly punched the side of his vehicle and threw an unknown object at the rear, striking the trunk. Officers saw a small chip on the left side of the trunk and a very small dent on the passenger side. He just wanted it documented.
– A possible sick animal was reported at 4:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of West Fourth Street. The caller said the animal was observed behaving strangely in the area. Officers located the animal, but it showed no signs of being ill or injured. The humane officer was contacted to check on the animal. The report did not say what kind of animal it was.
– An officer responded at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive for an alleged theft. A man in a medical facility said he lost his wallet. A nurse looked all around and could not locate the wallet.
– A man from West Fourth Street reported at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday said his daughter’s vehicle was broken into while parked at Walmart and Christmas presents were taken.
– A woman at 1:21 p.m. Wednesday reported that she and her boyfriend have been staying at an address in the 400 block of East Third Street and the female who rents the apartment is giving them a hard time about letting them use the bathroom and kitchen. The female alleged the two have been taking her property and took her wastebasket to their room Wednesday without permission. She wanted them removed and was told she had to do a legal eviction. Officers were aware that she has a history of allowing people to move in and then demanding officers kick them out.
COLUMBIANA
– Police stood by for traffic control at 2:23 p.m. Wednesday for the driver of a truck that lost its load of hay on state Route 14 near Springfield Road.

– A resident in the 200 block of South Union Avenue reported at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday that sometime over the past two weeks, unknown persons gained entry into his home and removed two firearms.
– Marlin Catlos, 53, of 1151 Beechwood Road, was taken into custody on an active warrant out of Columbiana County after an officer saw him in the 1900 block of East State Street at Salem Regional Medical Center while assisting another agency at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday. The officer made contact with Catlos, made the arrest, processed him at the police station and turned him over to a sheriff’s deputy.
– Officers from Perry Township requested assistance at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday with a combative male they were attempting to take into custody on Grant Street. When city officers arrived, township officers had the male in handcuffs. City officers stood by until an ambulance arrived to take him to Salem Regional Medical Center and also stayed at the hospital until it appeared there would be no further problem.
– Drake Rudder, 22, of 214 S. Lincoln Ave., was charged with domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstruction of official business after police were called at 1:51 a.m. Tuesday for a domestic. A woman reported a physical altercation with her live-in boyfriend and she had visible injuries. Officers attempted to speak to the boyfriend but he would not speak with them. They ended up filing the three charges and taking him to the Columbiana County jail. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance responded to check the woman’s injuries and she was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.
– An officer on patrol at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday noticed a large amount of water in the road at Newgarden Avenue and Arch Street. It appeared to be a water line break. The water department was contacted.
– A man in the 100 block of West State Street reported at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday that his significant other assaulted him and damaged items in his apartment on West Third Street. He was told the procedure for filing charges against the female.
– Eric Gilson, 41, of Perry Grange Road, was cited for failure to yield after his northbound Kia Soul on South Lincoln Avenue attempted to turn left onto Columbia Street and collided with a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Shelby Paparodis, 20, of Lake Avenue, on South Lincoln Avenue at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for non-incapacitating injuries.
– A caller at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday reported an animal in a vehicle in the 500 block of East Pershing Street. Police located the animal in the vehicle and spoke to the dog’s owner who said she was inside the residence for a short time and the dog was checked on. The vehicle did not appear as though it had been there long. The owner was advised not to leave an animal inside a vehicle for any length of time given the cold temperatures.
– A dispute between roommates was reported at 4:12 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where a woman wanted her female roommate to move out. – Police saw an unsecured door on a business on Depot Road at 2:32 a.m. Wednesday. The door was only partially opened and entry could not be gained. Police closed the door.
– A man in the 1500 block of Grant Street reported a check he was to receive for a large amount of money was picked up by another person and cashed. The matter is under investigation.
– Police spoke with a resident on Conser Drive at 10:24 a.m. Tuesday regarding a possible phone scam from people claiming to be from the United States Treasury. He was told not to call them back and that the scam has been going on for about a year.
– An alarm drop was reported at 1:37 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Stewart Road. All the windows and doors of the residence were found secure.
– A man in the 400 block of West Pidgeon Road talked to police at 9:40 p.m. Monday about an unwanted relative living in the residence. He was told how to start the eviction process through the courts.
– A man on West Perry Street reported at 7:29 p.m. Monday that he called a wrong number by accident and a male continues to text and call his phone. Police attempted to contact the person but he could not be reached.
COLUMBIANA
– A woman reported at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday that while driving eastbound on state Route 14 near Timberline Drive her windshield cracked completely across the bottom when a semi truck passed in the other direction. The woman also reported it could have been from the cold weather and her car was just warming up.
– Beaver Township police requested at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday police help them find the owner of a disabled vehicle. The owner was contacted.
LISBON
– Raymond Nagel, 68, state Route 164, Leetonia, was cited by village police for OVI at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday after a witness reported seeing him stagger out of the Valley View convenience store on North Market Street.

– Lora Lusk, 33, of 3075 Depot Road, was taken into custody at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday at Walmart after an officer on patrol saw a woman with a possible warrant operating a vehicle in the city limits. Contact was made with Lusk at Walmart and the warrant for passing bad checks was confirmed. She was processed and turned over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
– Police were called to the 2200 block of Kennedy Drive for a residential alarm and found a rear door at a home wide open. Officers checked the interior and found no signs of entry other than the open door. A keyholder responded and verified all was OK. The home was re-secured.
– Police responded to an accident at 7:41 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Bentley Drive where a northbound vehicle driven by Shirley Lee, of North Ellsworth Avenue, stopped at the stop sign at Bentley and a northbound vehicle driven by Samantha Wilson, of North Lincoln Avenue, slid on the road and struck the rear of the Lee vehicle. Lee wanted checked out by medical personnel so fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance responded, but no one was transported. The report did not say if anyone was cited for the accident.
– Loud persons were reported at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Woodland Avenue. No one was heard in the area.
– A well-being check was requested at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday on South Lincoln Avenue for a male threatening to harm himself. Officers made contact with the male who volunteered to go to the hospital for an evaluation.
– A juvenile problem was reported at 9:26 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Oak Street where a woman said she has guardianship of a 10-year-old juvenile who won’t listen to her and locked one of the other juveniles out of the house. She was told how to file unruly charges.
– A dispute was reported at 8:36 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Continental Drive where it was determined to be a civil issue. Both people were advised of their options through civil court.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 8:31 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of East State Street, but when police arrived, the vehicle had already left.
– A woman at 7:24 p.m. Monday came to the station with questions concerning a violation of a protection order. She was given several options for dealing with the matter.
– Police were called at 6:32 p.m. Monday to the Sparkle Market parking lot in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue for a private property accident. A woman said she was parked in a parking spot and struck in the driver side door by another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle said while he was pulling into the parking spot, she opened her door and caused the accident. There was minor damage to both vehicles. While on the scene, officers noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage on the male driver and found he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Richard Carpenter, 62, of 13756 Smith Goshen Road, Beloit, was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence.
– Daniel Almy, of Lisbon, reported at 6:01 p.m. Monday that his vehicle was stolen from the American Standard employee parking lot just south of the railroad crossing on Newgarden Avenue. Officers observed broken glass and recovered a tool possibly used to break the vehicle’s window. The man said a towing company contacted a third party who contacted him at work to advise how the vehicle had been recovered, which is how he became aware the car was stolen. Officers affirmed with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office that the vehicle had been found abandoned in the middle of a road at 3:30 p.m. Monday. The incident is under investigation.
– Charles Hyde, 51, of 445 Continental Drive, was taken into custody at his residence at 5:28 p.m. Monday on an active warrant from Columbiana County.
– A man on East Euclid Street reported at 4:43 p.m. Monday that he found an unknown cell phone on his front porch. The phone was placed in the police lost and found.

– Logan D. Malik, 19, Harvey Avenue, was cited for assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle driven by Beverly J. Sokoloski, 61, of East Palestine, at the intersection of Jerome and North Market at 4:18 p.m. Saturday.

– A man reported at 3:26 a.m. Monday there was a Christmas tree in the road on North Main Street. Police removed the tree.
– Kayla White, no address listed, reported at 6:47 p.m. Monday someone made a fake Facebook profile pretending to be her and the person is threatening her friends.
– Police helped a truck driver who broke down at the state Routes 7 and 14 intersection at 8:32 p.m. Monday. Ed Geary’s Towing was called to remove the truck from the road.

– Cassi McCoy reported at 2:34 a.m. Sunday an older man attempted to sell her narcotics at the Sunoco gas station.
– Carey Bucci, West Salem Street, reported at 10:54 p.m. Saturday there was someone trespassing at the apartments. Police found there was no problem but someone Bucci did not know had been admitted to the apartment next door, which was not her apartment. At 11:15 a.m. the apartment manager requested Bucci be removed for being loud and hostile and screaming. Police told the manager of the options for having her evicted.
– Police were called to 331 W. Salem St. at 7:44 a.m. Sunday for a report of a possible domestic dispute in one of the apartments. Police found no problems there. At 8:32 a.m. police assisted Leetonia police with arresting Carey Bucci at the residence on a warrant through Leetonia.
– Chris Eisenbraun reported at 12:26 p.m. Saturday his vehicle was entered sometime during the night and there was a small amount of cash taken.
– Police provided traffic control in the area of South Main and Duquesne streets at 12:57 p.m. Saturday after a tree fell across the road.
– Brent Burns, no address listed, reported at 3:15 p.m. Saturday he was getting unwanted phone calls and e-mails.
– A man reported at 10:27 p.m. Saturday a suspicious man who was dropped off by someone in a silver Buick Regal was walking fast between homes on North Middle Street. Police checked but did not find the man.

– Gail Heineman, 62, of Goshen Road, was cited for a red light violation after running a red light while southbound on North Ellsworth Avenue at East State Street and colliding with an eastbound vehicle driven by Joshua Wells, 32, of McCann Road, at 9:04 a.m. Monday.
– A clerk at Smith Oil on East State Street reported at 8:17 a.m. Monday that a male drove off without paying for gas. An officer made contact with the vehicle owner who said he used his card to pay. He was told the card transaction didn’t go through, went back to the store and paid for his gas.
– A man reported at 1:31 a.m. Monday that he heard a noise coming from his neighbor’s residence in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue and asked that police check on her. Contact was made and she was fine.
– A woman in the 600 block of East Seventh Street reported at 7:58 p.m. Sunday that someone known to her entered her residence without permission. Officers told her the person in question lived at the residence and would have to be legally evicted. She was told the eviction process and the process for obtaining a protection order.
– Edward Adams, 55, of Newgarden Avenue, was charged with failure to maintain reasonable control and hit skip/failure to report a crash after an officer was stopped by a motorist at 7:01 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of East Pershing Street and told about a vehicle crashing and leaving the scene. With the vehicle description and plate information, the officer conducted a traffic stop on East Pershing Street at South Lundy Avenue. The driver admitted to the crash and due to the amount of damage, was cited.
-A man on South Lincoln Avenue reported at 7 p.m. Sunday that during a custody exchange at the police station, his child’s mother started yelling in front of the child and wouldn’t let his girlfriend take the child to his truck where he was inside. He wanted it reported due to past problems.
– A verbal dispute was reported at 6:03 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Franklin Avenue where police spoke with all people involved and found no violence occurred. All were told to stay away from each other until they were calm.
– John Stuckey Jr., 32, of Hawley Avenue, was cited for failure to control after a two-vehicle accident at 5:13 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of East State Street near Taco Bell. A vehicle driven by Katie Discerni, 24, of Warren, was stopped eastbound in the turning lane and Stuckey was eastbound behind her vehicle when his vehicle slid on a patch of ice upon braking, spinning 180 degrees and striking Discerni. No injuries were reported.
– Possible shots fired were reported at 2:32 p.m. Sunday on Lexington Avenue. They were found to be hunters in the woods in Perry Township.
– Loud persons were reported at 12:35 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where a man said he spoke with the neighbors about keeping the noise level down due to them having a newborn baby. He didn’t want police to contact the neighbor, but police said the complaint would be documented.
– A woman on West Fourth Street at 11:14 a.m. Sunday reported she lost her wallet in the Dollar Tree parking lot. The wallet contained identifications and personal papers.
– Jennifer Greenleaf, 60, of U.S. Route 62, was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control after her vehicle struck a legally parked vehicle owned by Shirley Brant in the 1400 block of East Third Street, traveled 50 feet and struck a fire hydrant at 5:58 p.m. Saturday. No injuries were seen. Greenleaf’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
– Gayle Paxson, 62, of Buckeye Circle, was cited for failure to yield after he attempted to pull out of the lot of a restaurant on Benton Road at 1:27 p.m. Saturday and his foot slipped off the brake, hit the gas and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Ryan Zimmerman, 26, of Deerfield. The Paxson vehicle continued into the car wash across the street and was stopped by a yellow cement post.

– Police were called to Blossom Nursing home at 4:15 a.m. Monday for a report of a man sleeping in a vehicle in the parking lot. Police made contact with the man who was delivering medical supplies to the business.
– A man in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported at 7 p.m. Sunday that an unwanted person arrived at his apartment but left before he could respond to the door. He wanted a report on file in case the person returned. The same resident reported by phone at 12:21 p.m. Sunday that his property was being damaged by his ex-roommates while they were in the process of moving out.
– Loud music was reported at 10:24 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Elberon Avenue, but police found none.
– A man on East Sixth Street in Salem called police at 8:50 p.m. Saturday to request a welfare check on his children in the 1100 to 1200 block of West Perry Street because he had reservations about who the mother is dating. He was asked if there were any signs that the children had been mistreated or injured and he denied there were any indications the children were being harmed in any way. He had no legal rights to the children and was directed to the court system to establish rights for visitation and support with the children. He was told police can’t perform a welfare check without probable cause just because he’s unhappy with who the other parent is dating.
– Police were requested for mutual aid to respond to a 911 hangup call with a possible domestic at an apartment building on state Route 45 near the Kent State regional campus at 8:25 p.m. Friday. Officers spoke with a female inside an apartment and her estranged spouse outside the apartment. Both said there was no physical contact. She wanted him to leave. He was escorted from the premises and told not to return. The woman was advised how and where to obtain a protection order.
– An officer on patrol at 8:12 p.m. Friday discovered an unsecured door at the Salem Golf Club on South Lincoln Avenue and checked the interior of the building. The keyholder was notified to respond to secure the door.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 7:17 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Elberon Avenue, but was not found.
– A resident in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported at 4:21 p.m. Friday that unknown persons removed two packages from his mailbox. He checked with the company and the post office and confirmed both packages were delivered to his address by Dec. 26. The estimated loss was $15.

– Brandon Z. Ferry, 22, Berlin Center, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 10:27 a.m. Jan. 4 in which he was northbound in the 11000 block of state Route 45 when he lost control of his vehicle, traveling off the roadway, striking a mailbox and overturning, coming to rest against several trees. No injuries were reported.
– Police investigated a report of an assault at the West Branch Middle School at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 6.
– A 16-year-old Beloit teen was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (marijuana) after an officer discovered the paraphernalia in his bedroom while assisting Sebring police with an investigation on Fifth Street at 8:10 p.m. Jan. 6.
– Two residents in the 13000 block of Western Reserve Road reported Jan. 8 that someone had been driving down the road hitting all the mailboxes.
– A 17-year-old North Jackson teen was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated, loud exhaust and left of center following a traffic stop on Western Reserve Road near state Route 45 at 11:45 p.m. Jan. 8.
– Dana Brown, 28, Youngstown, was arrested on an active felony-2 warrant out of Boardman issued by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, as well as charged with no driver’s license, following a traffic stop at state routes 165 and 14 at 4:51 p.m. Saturday.
LISBON
– Police responded to a report of someone pounding on the door at 133 S. Green St. at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Jason M. Mason told police he wanted to speak with someone by the name of Thomas who lives there. Police had Thomas Page come to the door, and he said he did not know why Mason was bothering him. Mason, who lives across the street, was told to come back later to speak with Page.
– A clerk at the Valley View convenience store reported a shoplifting attempt at 7:34 a.m. Saturday. The clerk said a man had been standing outside for an hour and would occasionally come inside to ask for a cigarette. When the clerk went to the rear of the store she saw him go behind the counter and grab a pack of cigarettes. The clerk demanded he return the cigarettes and leave, which he did. Police searched the area but did not find the man.
– A West Virginia woman who has custody of her 17-year-old niece called Sunday because her niece had not been seen since 12 hours before and suspects she has run away. The girl’s mother is staying at the Fleming House, and police went there to determine if the girl was present, but no one answered the door.
– Jay Mason, West Washington Street, reported Sunday his ex-girlfriend may have installed a tracking device on the his cellphone and he wanted on a report on file in the event something should come of this. Mason said an iCloud account had been set up without his knowledge and his ex-girlfriend was sharing photographs that could only be found on his phone.
– A North Market Street resident reported at 10 p.m. Friday she has been smelling an odor of narcotics wafting through the her apartment vents, and she believes it is coming from a downstairs apartment. Police arrived but did not smell anything suspicious and knocked on the door of the other apartment, but no one answered.
– Police were called to East Lincoln Way near Carter Lumber at 8:34 a..m. Wednesday in regard to a distraught woman who was threatening to commit suicide because no one understands her. The woman became combative and had to be restrained on a cot while being transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

-Police responded at 6:10 a.m. Sunday to the 400 block of South Union Avenue for a 911 hang up call, then a resident requested an ambulance and fire department first responders. She called back to cancel emergency personnel and said she was going to take her husband herself. Officers checked the man while present and made sure he made it to the vehicle to be taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by his wife.
– A domestic in progress was reported at 6:02 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. Officers spoke with a man who said the male and female he lives with had an argument and left. The male involved in the domestic returned and said he had an argument with his girlfriend over a social media picture and she left. He yelled at her outside due to her taking a small child out in the rainy weather. The female was contacted a few blocks away and she said she left for both of them to cool off. Both said no physical violence occurred. The male responded to take the female and child back home.
– A man in the 900 block of Franklin Avenue reported a possible break-in at his neighbor’s garage at 6:01 a.m. Sunday. The garage was checked and nobody was found inside. There were no signs of forced entry and all appeared in order.
– A woman in the 500 block of East Third Street reported at 4:02 a.m. Sunday that she came home and found her window pushed in and believed her ex was trying to break inside. Nothing was taken and it didn’t appear that entry was made. Officers told her to lock the window and call if she noticed anybody suspicious in the area.
– Kait-Lyn Pratt, 18, of Sherman Street, Lisbon, was cited for a permit violation after a traffic stop at 9:51 p.m. Saturday at East State Street and Washington Avenue. A vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation and moving violation and the passenger jumped out and wasn’t obeying officer commands. The passenger was briefly detained and released as soon as additional officers arrived. The driver was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver over 21 years old. The officer turned over the vehicle to the owner after citing the driver, identified as Pratt.
– An officer stood by at 9:36 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency room while a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested a person released from the hospital.
– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Sixth Street, but left before an officer arrived.
– A vehicle driven by Sarah Nastar, of Hanoverton, was struck by a deer at 7:27 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of East State Street, damaging the right front bumper, the fender and hood.
– A combative patient was reported at Circle of Care, 1985 E. Pershing St., at 5:39 p.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with the person who then went to the hospital willingly.
– A woman in the 400 block of Continental Drive reported at 4:37 p.m. Saturday that a man in her apartment complex has been sneaking around the property looking into windows of multiple apartments. Police advised the man of the complaint and he denied looking into any windows.
– Police responded to a parking complaint at 4:32 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Brooklyn where a caller said a junk vehicle was parked on the street with an expired registration. Officers checked the vehicle and found it was not in working order and had no valid registration. A parking ticket was issued and the vehicle was tagged to be moved in 48 hours.
– Police were called at 2:17 p.m. Saturday to the 400 block of East Third Street for a dispute. A woman took a hat off of a man and he wrapped his arms around her to prevent her from leaving the room with his hat. She wasn’t injured and police saw no visible injuries. Both were given voluntary statements to complete to be sent to the prosecutor for review.
– Police responded at 2:05 p.m. Saturday to the area of Allen Road and the Salem Parkway in reference to a person with a gun. Upon arrival, a man was concerned that people were shooting within the city limits. An officer was able to determine the shots were being fired from outside the city limits.
– Police were called at 2 p.m. Saturday to check the well-being of a female in the 200 block of Jennings Avenue. She said she had no thoughts of causing herself any harm. She was asked to contact her sister.
– A dispute was reported at 10:24 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of East Fifth Street where a woman said she was involved in a verbal dispute with her estranged husband over a situation dealing with their children. She was told her options. The dispute occurred at a business on Railroad Street.
– A woman in the 200 block of West Fourth Street reported at 9:28 a.m. Saturday that the dog across the street was loose and growling at her while she had her dogs out. An officer talked with the female across the street who took her son’s dog and tied it back up and apologized to the woman. She said the dog got tangled up with another and got loose.

– Cincinnati police requested at 10:30 a.m. Saturday police attempt to find Rachael Helpy who lived at Camelot Apartments after her car was found in their city. Police determined she may have moved out of state and Cincinnati was told of the update.
Alison Suggett reported at 3 p.m. Saturday someone stole her medication.
-Robert Binder, 23, Washingtonville, was southbound on North Main Street at 4 p.m. Saturday and approaching Parkview Drive when he was rear-ended by Michael Merritt, 40, Canfield. Merritt was cited for assured clear distance.

– An officer on patrol at 2:44 a.m. Saturday traveling north on South Ellsworth Avenue between Franklin Avenue and Railroad Street saw a vehicle traveling southbound on Ellsworth, saw the passenger door open and heard yelling. A man exited the passenger seat and approached the patrol unit and reported he’s been harassed the past four or five months while at a local establishment in the 500 block of South Broadway. He said he was assaulted Saturday, but wouldn’t provide information about it. He was told to go to a different establishment if he keeps getting harassed at the one he’s been patronizing. He got back into the vehicle with his mother and left without incident.
– An anonymous caller at 10:37 p.m. Friday reported harassment in the 800 block of Prospect Street, but refused to cooperate.
– Police were called at 10:12 p.m. Friday to the 800 block of Prospect Street to check the well-being of people at a residence. The caller said a child was heard yelling and he was unsure if the child was ok. Officers checked on the juvenile and parents who were all found to be ok.
– A burglary was reported at 9:58 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of West Wilson Street. A window was open to the residence, but the resident reported nothing missing from the home.
– Charges are pending after a driver and passenger fled the scene of a traffic stop at 8:50 p.m. Friday in the area of North Howard Avenue and West Second Street where an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for an alleged moving violation. Upon the vehicle stopping on West Second Street at Howard, the passenger, who has a warrant out of Columbiana, ran on foot and the driver fled the scene.
– Police were asked at 6:25 p.m. Friday to check on the welfare of a person with a small child at McDonald’s on East State Street. The man told officers he was at the business waiting on his friend to finish work.
– A malfunctioning traffic light was reported at 6:07 p.m. Friday at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and East State Street. The northbound turning lane of South Lincoln Avenue was allegedly failing to cycle through. An officer monitoring the area for several minutes and saw the light functioning properly.

-Tina Cunningham, Columbiana, called from A Place for Paws, Columbiana, at 8:31 a.m. Friday for help getting into her vehicle.

-A Columbiana woman reported a trash complaint at 11:20 a.m. Friday against her neighbor, Nicole Bishop, Quincy Avenue. Bishop was issued a warning.
-A South Bayshore Drive resident reported being locked out of their house at 11:20 a.m. Friday. The called made arrangements to stay with a neighbor until a locksmith could arrive to help.
-Herbert Hebron, Columbiana, was charged at 11:20 a.m. on Friday with driving under suspension after an officer checked his license plate number.
-Denise Kuhlman, East Salem Street, Columbiana, reported at 11:20 a.m. Friday that she was locked out of her vehicle which was in the Images Associates parking lot.
-The manager of the Village Plaza Burger King called to report a traffic complaint at 11:36 p.m. on Friday. The driver, who was blocking the drive through window, was spoken with by officers and moved out of the way.

– Dale Hill, 82, New Waterford, was northbound on state Route 7 and slowed at the intersection of state Route 14 to make a left-hand-turn onto state Route 14 and Nicole Atkinson, 28, Youngstown, was southbound on state Route 7 and continuing through the intersection when Hill failed to yield right-of-way to Atkinson and they collided. Hill was cited for failure to yield making a left turn.
– Police found a junk motor vehicle at a Pittsburgh Street home at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
– A man reported at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday there was a reckless driver westbound on state Route 14. Police stopped the car and found the driver was not impaired and there were no other problems.
– A Marathon gas station employee reported at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday Melissa Garrett called looking for a lost wallet and the employee told there hadn’t been anything turned in and Garrett continued calling and began harassing the employees.
– Police went to state Route 7 and Heck Road at 8:47 p.m. Wednesday after it was reported there was a cow in and out of the roadway and was causing a traffic hazard. Police were able to contact the owner and also found that there had been a crash involving the cow outside of the city. The highway patrol was notified.

– Police responded to a Cedar Street home at 6:56 p.m. Thursday in reference to a civil dispute regarding residency and dogs that live in the home. They were advised of Ohio residency laws. An officer returned at 7:54 p.m. when a resident said she got into an argument regarding the intoxication level of a roommate. They agreed to separate for the evening. Police returned again at 9:11 p.m. after a woman reported her friend at the home had told her there was a physical altercation at the home and requested officers check on the situation. An officer spoke with both individuals at the home and found them to be okay and advised them to cease contact for the evening.
– Police responded to a 200 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 1:51 a.m. Friday in reference to an irate person and spoke with the man’s roommate who said he was intoxicated and started punching things. Officers found the man’s hand bleeding from punching a door, but he refused medical treatment. He said he was upset at his roommates and was damaging his own items. The roommates agreed to leave for a while.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Daitzel Allen Moore, 22, Girard, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after an officer responded to the Beloit Country Gardens apartment complex at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday in reference to the smell of burnt marijuana and he admitted it was his after three burnt marijuana cigarettes were found in a bedroom.

– Police responded to a burglary call at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue in which the homeowner was in the process of moving out of the apartment and returned that day to clean when she observed the front door had been kicked in. The only items missing were an older microwave and some cleaning material.
– Daniel H. Neiswanger, 49, 2910 Newgarden Road, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department for failure to appear and also charged with obstruction of official business while officers were investigated a burglary in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue and he provided a false name and social security number.
– Police spoke with a Beechwood Drive resident at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday who reported her son is on probation and is not to be consuming alcohol. Police responded to the home at 8:05 a.m. the next day after the resident reported her son was intoxicated in the basement and wanted him removed. She was advised of the eviction process and told he could not be arrested until his probation was violated.
– Police spoke with a woman from the 1700 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday who reported receiving threatening and harassing text messages from the family members of an employee the business let go that day. Police contacted the persons in question and advised them to cease contact or face criminal charges.
– Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle driving slowly up and down Elberon Avenue multiple times, but were unable to find the vehicle, described as a dark colored SUV with brown primer on it.
– Police responded to Salem Acres to check on the welfare of children at 7:06 p.m. Thursday after an anonymous caller reported a woman yelling at them. Police attempted to make contact at the residence but it appeared they had already left.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 1:38 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of North Union Avenue. A man called about a dispute between him and his wife, saying he was upset after his wife was making allegedly unreasonable noise for the time of the evening. Both parties reported no violence occurred. They were told to stay away from each other for the rest of the night.
-A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Newgarden Avenue. Upon arrival, police learned the caller discovered the vehicle was known to her.
– An alarm was reported at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday on East Second Street. The exterior was found secure.
– A juvenile problem was reported at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue where officers spoke with both the juvenile and her mother. The mother said the juvenile wanted to leave for the night and stay at her grandmother’s residence, but she would not let her leave. They were told their options.
– Officers exiting the police station at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday saw a male and a female arguing in the parking lot. They made contact with the people, who said the argument broke out during a custody exchange. Both people separated and officers left.
– Police responded at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday to the Circle of Care, 1985 E. Pershing St., for a combative patient. Officers spoke with the staff, the patient and ambulance personnel, finding nothing criminal occurred. The patient voluntarily went with the ambulance personnel.
– A reckless operator was reported at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday, but police were unable to see the vehicle make any traffic violations due to the amount of traffic in the city. An officer saw the vehicle park safely in a drive on East Third Street.
– A wallet was turned over to police at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, with the owner contacted to pick it up.
– A female in Florida called at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday to report she had been unable to contact her friend for several days and was concerned about her. An officer made contact with the friend on Jennings Avenue and she said she had surgery, but had a caregiver with her.
LISBON
– Emily Vollnogle reported Monday she learned through her son that her ex-husband had threatened to harm her and everyone in her house if the son moved out and moved in with his mother. Police spoke with the ex-husband, who denied saying any such thing. He was also told that if there were any threats made they needed to cease immediately, and the ex-husband said there would be no more problems.
COLUMBIANA
– A man reported at 8:28 a.m. Tuesday someone took out part of the railroad crossing gate on Pittsburgh Street. The railroad company was notified and police found that Timothy Gamble of Columbiana had hit the gate while driving eastbound and was unable to see it because of the glare from the sun.
– Bryant L. Moore of Warren was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the Sparkle Market plaza at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.
– Thomas Goodman reported fraud from Kimpel’s Jewelry at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
– Carlie Deidrick, 18, New Waterford, was stopped eastbound on state Route 14 at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday near County Line Road when she was rear-ended by Leslie Bartels, 45, Columbiana. Bartels was cited for speeding.
– A man requested to speak with police at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday regarding the speed limit in the area of state Route 164 and South Avenue.
– A woman reported at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday three kids were left in a vehicle without supervision in the Sparkle Market parking lot. Police were able to speak with the children’s mother and there were no problems.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
– Police responded to a 15000 U.S. Route 62 business at 4:35 p.m. Dec. 28 in response to a request for an escort between two people for a child custody exchange. Upon arrival the officer found a woman who wanted an officer present so there would be no problem while she picked up her son. She picked up her son without incident.
– An officer responded to a 14000 block Egypt Road home at 5:26 p.m. Dec. 28 where the resident reported kids had punched holes in his roof again. He said that he had fixed the roof at about 1:30 p.m. that afternoon and that he did not know who the kids may be, but that they would return that evening around 6 or 7 p.m. because they watch for him to turn on the television for the news. The officer said he would check the residence throughout his shift.
– An officer responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 and Duck Creek Road at 11 a.m. Dec. 30 for a dog complaint and found a rottweiler inside a small fenced in area with no grass and only wet mud. There was also no food and only muddy water, and a shelter too small with nothing to keep the dog warm. The officer was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence, then contacted Animal Charity to report the findings.
– An officer responded to 9000 block Salem-Warren Road home at 12:25 p.m. Dec. 30 where the resident reported property damage caused by drunk drivers on two separate occasions. The officer observed multiple tire tracks across the front lawn along with some street signs lying flat on the ground. The resident also said that one of the drivers had run over a tree he had just planted which cost $100 to replace.
– An officer responded to the area of Calla and Salem-Warren roads at 9:50 a.m. Dec. 31 where a man reported a suspicious container his friend had found while setting muskrat traps. The container was painted a rusty red type of color and hanging from the bridge on a rope. The officer found a letter on it stating it was from the Geocaching website and part of a “national treasure hunt and found inside a notebook with names and dates written on it along with a rubber snake, confetti poppers, confetti and paper clips.
– An officer responded to 15000 U.S. Route 62 business at 4 p.m. Jan. 1 where the owner requested a notice of restriction form in response to an employee’s ex-girlfriend who had caused a disturbance at the business a few days earlier regarding a civil matter to which an officer had responded. The owner said he lost a customer during the commotion.
– Police are investigating a report made at a 9000 block South Duck Creek Road home at 9:24 p.m. Jan. 2 in reference to a bullet that entered through a wall, almost striking the homeowner.

– Kacie Bailey, of Third Street, reported at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday that her vehicle was legally parked in front of her residence when she noticed the vehicle behind hers was parked touching her bumper. An officer was unsuccessful in making contact with the owner but issued a parking ticket for the other vehicle being more than 1 foot from the curb.
– Sheri Moats, of the 500 block of South Lundy Avenue, reported at 10:04 a.m. Tuesday that someone smashed the driver side window of her vehicle sometime overnight.
– A woman in the 1000 block of West 15th Street reported at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday that a third party was attempting to activate an account using her information. She already corrected the problem, but wanted a report on file.
– An alarm was reported at 6:16 a.m. Tuesday at a business in the Marc’s plaza. The exterior was checked and found secure. Police were called for audible alarms at the same address at 10:36 p.m. Monday and 9:31 p.m. Monday, with the building found secure. The interior was also checked and no one was found inside.
– Two suspicious people were reported in the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue at 1:37 a.m. Tuesday. Police located them near vending machines and they said they were walking home from work and stopped to get a drink from the vending machine before going home.
– A caller at 12:46 a.m. Tuesday reported it sounded like someone shot a pellet gun at his upstairs window on Continental Drive.
– Officers reported at 12:32 a.m. Tuesday to the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency room to speak with a person about injuries he suffered. He said he had been drinking during the evening and was in the 100 block of Penn Avenue getting into his vehicle when he slipped and fell onto the curb, suffering some cuts. A female who was with him verified his story.
– An officer on patrol at 8:20 p.m. Monday checked the area of Mullins near the railroad tracks and found an abandoned bicycle which is now secured at the police station.
– Loud/suspicious persons were reported in a parking lot at 8:09 p.m. Monday in the 2500 block of Lexington. Police could not locate anyone causing a disturbance.
– Shane Endicott, 25, of 647 E. Pine Lake Road, was cited for no plate light and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 7:23 p.m. Monday on Southeast Boulevard. Marijuana and other contraband were recovered during a probable cause search of the vehicle.
– A woman from Westview spoke with an officer at 7:15 p.m. Monday about an ongoing situation with her ex-husband. She was told her options.
– An intoxicated person was reported attempting to leave a Circle K parking lot in a red truck at 6:50 p.m. Monday. Police were given the 1125 E. State St. address but determined the caller gave the wrong information and the vehicle was actually at a business in the 700 block of West State Street. The vehicle was not found, but the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Perry Township Police were advised of the situation.
– A juvenile problem was reported at 6:21 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of East Third Street where an officer spoke to the child’s father and soon-to-be stepmother. The 12-year-old son was throwing a fit over not being allowed to use a different bottle of soap. The juvenile agreed to calm down and listen to his parents.
– Matthew Loomis, of the 300 block of North Howard Avenue, reported at 4:03 p.m. Monday that his vehicle was entered the previous night and a flat screen computer monitor was taken. He saw footprints around the vehicle and the door was not completely latched.
– John Stuckey Jr., 32, and Katie Stuckey, 25, both of 367 Hawley Avenue, were each cited for disorderly conduct after police were called at 2:28 p.m. Monday for a domestic in progress on Hawley Avenue. The husband said he and his wife got into an argument and she struck his truck with a piece of wood, causing damage to the tail light and then threw the wood into the bed of the truck, possibly damaging the glass. He shut the driver’s side door to leave and the rear glass window shattered out. She left in her vehicle with the children. The wife returned a short time later and said they had been arguing and he punched her vehicle on the passenger side, leaving dents. She admitted to hitting his truck with the board and putting it in the bed.
– Charles Collins, 56, of 464 N. Howard Ave., was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 2:17 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue.
– A woman in the 1000 block of East Pershing Street reported at 9:50 a.m. Monday that she was advised by PayPal that someone opened an account in her name. She wanted it documented.
– A woman in the 200 block of Rose Avenue reported t 8:53 a.m. Monday that someone took her mail ordered prescription that was to be delivered on Dec. 22. She checked with the drug company which confirmed the prescription was sent out and the post office advised the package was delivered on Dec. 22.

– Police responded to the 1300 block of Benton Road at 7:16 p.m. Monday for a reported attempted burglary at a residence. Unknown people had tried to gain access. The incident is under investigation.
– A pine tree was reported in the middle of the road in the 1800 block of state Route 344 at 7 p.m. Monday. An officer found the tree and removed it from the roadway.
– A possible burglary was reported at 5:05 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Benton Road where a resident reported arriving home and finding the television on and the dog out of its kennel. Police checked the interior of the residence and found no one inside. The resident looked around and didn’t notice anything missing.
– Robert Woods, of Colonial Drive, reported at 8:18 a.m. Monday that someone struck and damaged his mailbox.
COLUMBIANA
– Michael Savko reported at 8:45 a.m. Monday someone stole $1,000 worth of brass valves from a house under construction on Radcliffe Pass.
– The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office reported at 4:24 p.m. Monday there was a possible illegal solicitor heading toward the city in an older Chrysler that was going door to door to sell cleaning products and the vehicle had no front or back license plates. Police checked the area but did not find it.
– Mike Battarn reported at 5:39 p.m. he was driving a tractor trailer. It was too tall to go under the bridge on Columbiana-Lisbon Road, and he needed help backing up and clearing traffic.

– Bryan Allen Stanford, 27, 13150 S. Pricetown Road, Salem, was charged with misdemeanor aggravated menacing after police responded to his home where he allegedly brandished a shotgun at his mother’s boyfriend in an attempt to intimidate the man at 2:54 p.m. New Year’s Eve. The mother shortly later reported that the boyfriend had been harassing her son and asked that he not be allowed back on the property, although she later asked that the notice of restriction be voided.
– William J. Manypenny III, 24, 6561 W. Calla Road, Canfield, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers responded to his home at 12:50 a.m. Friday for a report of his daughter having an allergic reaction to a food and discovered a glass cylinder used to smoke marijuana with some burnt marijuana still visible. The daughter admitted to ingesting an opiate narcotic earlier in the day, so Green Township EMS responded to treat her for a possible overdose.
– William K. Bintrim, 48, Edinburg, Pa., was cited for driving under suspension and speeding following a traffic stop on state Route 165 near Lisbon Road at 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 3:50 a.m. Monday in a parking lot in the 2000 block of East State Street. Officers were on a priority call and requested help from Perry Township Police in checking for the vehicle. The vehicle left the lot before township police arrived.
– An officer was dispatched at 1:37 a.m. Monday to the 400 block of Vine Avenue to check the well-being of a female. She was contacted and said there were no problems. She was told to contact her mother.
– An officer at 1:36 a.m. Monday assisted Perry Township Police on a follow-up for a domestic in the 1700 block of Ansley Way.
– Officers reported to the 600 block of Cedar Street at 12:49 a.m. Monday for a domestic. The caller advised the incident occurred in Perry Township, so Perry Township officers arrived and city officers assisted.
– A caller reported suspicious persons in the 200 block of Continental Drive, saying there were two males who appeared to be trying to get into cars in the parking lot. An officer made contact with the two males next to a vehicle. The vehicle belonged to one of them and they said they were there to pick up their sister, who works at the complex. They were told to sit in the car to wait until she’s off work.
– An alarm was reported at 8:01 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of East State Street. The building was secure.
– Police responded at 5:01 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of East Third Street for a dispute. A man said he heard yelling coming from a neighboring apartment. An officer spoke to both parties involved who were boyfriend and girlfriend. They both said they got into an argument over family issues. They were told to keep the noise down.
– A man in the 800 block of East Third Street reported at 4:33 p.m. Sunday that his female roommate was drunk and he wanted her out of the residence. An officer spoke with both parties and told them the eviction process and that the female has a right to be in the residence until the process is complete. The roommate agreed to leave for the evening and was given a courtesy ride to a friend’s nearby residence.
– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 3:59 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West State Street, but the vehicle wasn’t located.
– Suspicious activity was reported at 2:09 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Officers located a male walking in the alley. He said he was just walking/waiting for a ride. He was identified and sent on his way. No suspicious activity was observed.
– A 15th Street resident reported at 12:01 p.m. Sunday that he discovered people riding ATVs on his property without permission. He wanted them advised to stay off the property. The incident was under investigation.
PERRY TWP.
– Police responded to the 600 block of Cedar Street inside the city limits at 12:55 a.m. Monday for a domestic violence report. The incident reportedly occurred in the 1700 block of Ansley Way in the township. A female said her husband became upset and hit her. No marks could be seen. Police responded to Ansley Way and spoke with the male half who said nothing physical occurred. Both parties had conflicting stories. The information will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review for possible charges.
– Police were called to the 1500 block of Grant for a civil complaint at 8:18 p.m. Sunday. The caller had court documents from August involving a no contact order. He was told he would have to contact his attorney for the court violation. He also said he was missing clothing.
– A caller from the 1300 block of West State Street at 6:47 p.m. Sunday asked about a civil matter and was directed to the proper source to answer their questions.
– A possible female in distress was reported walking on West State Street in the area of Indiana Boulevard and Ohio Boulevard at 6:43 p.m. Saturday. Police were asked to check her welfare, but didn’t locate anyone.
– A caller at 3:04 p.m. Saturday reported a suspicious person soliciting on Benton Road, attempting to give away a Dawn dish soap, driving a gold mid-sized vehicle with a black bug guard on the front. The person was described as well-dressed and ran back to his vehicle and left when told there was no interest. An officer checked the area and when speaking with the caller, saw a vehicle matching the description leaving the township westbound on state Route 14.
– Diane M. Knott, of Oakwood Drive, Beloit, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and released to a friend after a traffic stop on Georgetown Road for a report of an intoxicated driver at 8:17 p.m. Friday. The vehicle was towed.
– Salem Police were busy with a call on Newgarden Avenue regarding a possible stabbing and received a second call of a man down in the area of Jones Drive and Newgarden Avenue. Township police were asked to check the area, but didn’t locate anyone in distress.
COLUMBIANA
– A woman reported at 10:40 a.m. Saturday there was a white SUV in the area of the Columbiana Diner that had moved on its own and there was no driver. The vehicle rolled into the street and she was not sure who it belonged to. Police found the driver was Paul Brittain Jr. of East Palestine, and he was told to move the vehicle out of the road.
– A woman reported at 4 p.m. Saturday a big dog was running loose and jumped on her along East Duquesne Street. Police later found the dog secured in a back yard on the street.
– A woman reported at 7:53 p.m. Saturday someone in a silver Sedan almost caused a head-on collision and then continued eastbound on state Route 14. The highway patrol was notified since the vehicle was no longer within city limits.
– A woman reported at 8:29 p.m. Saturday a dog was barking on East Duquesne Street. Police spoke with two young people at the home and they were told to take the dog inside.
– The highway patrol requested back-up with a traffic stop on state Route 7 south of Metz Road at 11:11 p.m. Saturday.

LISBON
– Trudi Holloway, 45, state Route 517, reported some items were stolen from her purse while in the Days Inn parking lot at 1:31 a.m. Thursday, and she described the thief as a short black male who was now walking westbound on state Route 154. Police located Tristan J. Taylor, 23, of Salineville, who initially identified himself as his brother, and the officers found on him $63 in cash, multiple cellphones, a pack of cigarettes and a credit card in Holloway’s name. Taylor claimed Holloway had dropped the items at the Valley View convenience store in town and he was trying to return them to her. Holloway, who was described as very drunk, said she met Taylor at the Valley View and asked him if he wanted to go party. They rode to the Days Inn parking lot and remained in the car engaging in amorous behavior. At some point Taylor excused himself to use the restroom and left, which is the last Holloway saw of him. Holloway declined to press charges if Taylor returned the items, which he did, although he claimed the $63 belonged to him.
– Brenda K. Smith, 59, of Midland, Pa., was cited for failure to yield the right of way after reportedly pulling into the path of a vehicle driven by Jeremy M. Matuska, 43, Oak Ridge Road, Wellsville, resulting in an accident at the intersection of East Washington and South Jefferson streets at 12:53 p.m. Thursday.
– Police assisted sheriff’s deputies on a call at Roseland Commons at 2:30 a.m. Friday about a shirtless man screaming and punching mail boxes. Deputies spoke with the man and then left.
– Lisa Odey called about a loud argument going on in one of the apartments at 401 W. Washington St. at 12:39 a.m. Sunday. Police spoke with the occupants, who said they were just talking and hanging out.
– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 6:40 p.m. Thursday in regard to Jay Farrow knocking on Amy Muschweck’s door. Police found Farrow at Muschweck’s door and told him to quit bothering her and to stay in his apartment. Farrow said he was just looking for someone to talk to, but agreed to stay put for the rest of the night.
-Police responded to a domestic argument going on at 118 W. Washington St. at 6:36 p.m. Saturday and spoke with Larry Cloud, who stated he had been arguing with his wife but she had left.
– Lisa Odey, West Washington Street, reported smelling gas at 10:22 p.m. Saturday and her neighbors were making noise. Police did not smell any gas, nor did they hear any noise coming from the neighbors. Odey appeared to have been drinking and was told to go to bed.
– A caller reported there was a man later identified as Terry Allan Hughes walking on the roadway on Canton Hill and staggering around in traffic on U.S. Route 30. Police discovered a large amount of pills in his mouth, and Hughes spit them out when ordered to do so. The pills were mostly antibiotics (Mutual 105) and one Tylenol capsule. While searching Hughes, who appeared drunk, police found an unmarked pill bottle with antibiotics and Tylenol and another containing three Oxycontin pills. Since there was an arrest warrant for Hughes out of the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to take him into custody.
– Police were called to South Lincoln Avenue at 12:32 a.m. Sunday in regard to a noise complaint. They found homeowner Jerry Frankford outside smoking a cigarette and he did not hear any noises. Frankford said he had been hanging drywall earlier but he was done for the night.

– Police responded to a domestic situation Saturday at 39062 Grant St. Upon arrival, police found the matter to be verbal only. No charges were filed.

Salem reports
-Police responded to the 1000 block of Newgarden Avenue at 1:02 a.m. Friday where the complainant advised a vehicle ran into a fire hydrant. Tracey L. Smith, 1213 Andrew Avenue, was eastbound on Jones Drive and stopped at a stop sign at state Route 9 and turned left onto state Route 9 heading northbound and went wide off the right side hitting the hydrant and getting stuck on it. There were no injuries and Smith was cited for OVI and failure to control.
-At 5:25 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive for a report of two juveniles looking into vehicles in the parking lot and opening a car door. Once they were noticed by the complainant they ran southbound. One person whose car was entered said a carton of cigarettes was missing at the time of the report. Police were unable to locate the two people.
-At 3:52 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard for a report of telephone harassment. The complainant received unwanted text messages from a known female and an officer advised contact would be made with her and she would be advised to cease.
-Police responded to the 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue at 3:52 a.m. Sunday where the complainant wanted a female removed and she was advised she was no longer welcome.
-At 10:11 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the N. Lincoln Avenue and E. 4th Street for a report of a Chevy S-10 driving westbound on W. 4th Street in an erratic manner. Police located the vehicle on S. Howard Avenue and spoke to the driver who alleged another vehicle had been tailgating him on E. 4th Street and he had brake-checked the other vehicle several times as well as yelling at the vehicle’s occupants.
-Police responded to the 2500 block of E. State St. at 9:31 p.m. Saturday for a car versus deer accident. The vehicle was gone when police arrived and the dead deer was taken by a passing motorist.
-Police made a traffic stop in the 500 block of W. School Street at 5:55 p.m. Saturday and the vehicle was checked for contraband and nothing was found.
-Police responded to the 2300 block of E. State Street at 5:55 p.m. Saturday for an adult-juvenile dispute and the father said he was attempting to discipline his some due to some language he thought he used toward his mother. The mother said he son suffers from autism and there was a big misunderstanding.
-At 5:36 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive where the complainant advised their vehicle was entered on the morning of Dec. 31 and two boxes of pistol ammo and a loaded rifle magazine were taken along with other items. The total value was approximately $180.
-A complainant was on station at 5:17 a.m. Saturday regarding a theft of services advising two males were given a cab ride and failed to pay. An officer contacted one man who advised he would remedy the situation and the cab owner was advised.
-At 5:14 p.m. Saturday, a complainant on station advised they found a wallet on N. Howard Avenue and it was placed in the lost and found.
-Police on patrol on E. Pershing Street at 4:37 p.m. Saturday found property and returned it to the owner who said it was stolen. Police found suspects who were caught on camera and the incident is under investigation.
-At 11:28 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 600 block of E. State Street where the complainant advised that on Dec. 30 a Time Warner person came to his residence and he signed to keep the service going on a pad the man had. Now he finds that he may have been scammed since Time Warner advised they had not received anything and now his account is overdrawn. The complainant showed the officer an email he received verifying the transaction with the signature of the technician who came along with his signature. He was advised by the bank to come to the police department for a report number and an officer advised them to follow up with the technician.
-At 8:54 a.m. Saturday, a complainant from the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue was on station advising that on Jan. 1 an unknown person took her wallet from her purse. She was unsure where it may have happened. She had her wallet in her purse when she went to a grocery store and lost her phone. While going back inside to look for her phone she left her purse in her unlocked vehicle. She was sure the wallet was there when she had left her residence and went to the store.
-At 12:27 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of E. 4th Street for a dog welfare check. The dog was taken inside.
POLICE REPORTS
Salem reports
– Police responded to the 600 block of S. Union Avenue at 6:19 p.m. Friday for a report of harassment. Due to no physical violence and information being given by a third party, a report was taken. An officer contacted people involved later and there was no further evidence. The suspect was advised to cease his actions, if any.
– At 6:29 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 900 block of E. 4th Street where a man was having medical problems. Salem first responders arrived and the man was located in the basement and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
– At 7:28 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Jennings Avenue for a report of lost or stolen property and was advised of the options.
– At 7:52 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 400 block of E. 4th Street for a phone harassment complaint that was found to be a menacing incident. Police were unable to contact the suspect.
– Police responded to the 100 block of W. 3rd Street at 8:13 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised of receiving harassing calls from another woman. Police spoke with the other woman who denied making calls and said it would be no problem not calling the complainant.
– At 8:11 p.m. Friday, police observed Chrystal L. Westover, 961 W. Wilson Street, in the 700 block of W. State Street and knowing she had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Columbiana County, she was taken into custody and turned over to a deputy for transport to the county jail.
– At 9:04 p.m. Friday, police responded to the Franklin Avenue and Southeast Boulevard intersection for a report of an intoxicated person walking in the roadway. The person was located and advised he lived near the entrance to the cemetery. He was assisted to his residence and advised to not leave for the night.
– Police assisted Perry Township police on station at 9:40 p.m. Friday with a possible OVI.
– At 11:29 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street regarding unwanted communication from a woman. The complainant advised she had contacted him despite there being a no-contact court order. The complainant was advised a report would be on file.
– At 12:08 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of W. 3rd Street where the complainant advised that $4 in change was taken from their vehicle. The complainant was advised to lock the doors.
– Police responded to the 500 block of S. Broadway Avenue at 12:28 p.m. Thursday where the complainant advised their vehicle was entered and a wallet was missing with personal papers in it.
– At 11:23 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 600 block of W. Wilson Street where the complainant advised that overnight someone put nails in the side of the left front tire of his vehicle. He wanted it documented and requested extra patrol.
– Police responded to the 1600 block of S. Lincoln Avenue at 1:03 p.m. Thursday for a well being check and the vehicle in question was gone.
COLUMBIANA REPORTS
– Police escorted Robert Macklin, Elm Street, at 12:41 a.m. Thursday to his residence to keep peace with his soon to be ex-wife.
– A Save A Lot clerk reported at 11:57 a.m. Thursday two females stole a cart full of food that was sitting waiting for another customer to pay for. The females had paid for groceries of their own and then wheeled out the cart that was in waiting. They didn’t think the clerk noticed.
– Gary Groom, 64, Sewickley, Pa., was driving at 6:37 p.m. Thursday on East Park when he failed to negotiate a curve and wrecked. The vehicle ended up back on the road.
– Police provided traffic control at a fire on East Park at 6:37 p.m. Thursday.
– Julie Morrow, Lisbon, parked her vehicle at East Park when responding to an accident scene at 6:55 p.m. Thursday. As she walked away, her vehicle coasted forward and entered a nearby ditch.
POLICE REPORTS
SALEM
– Domingo Diego, 24, of 543 Columbia St., was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to his residence at 2:31 a.m. Friday for a domestic fight. A male and female were located upstairs in the residence and the female had a large amount of blood on her face and hands. There was a language barrier but a female juvenile was able to translate. Officers were advised by the victim that she had an argument with her live-in boyfriend over money and moving out. He became upset and began to punch her in the face and stomach. Fire department first responders and an ambulance were called and the ambulance transported the victim to Salem Regional Medical Center. The male denied hitting her.
-Police were called at 2:12 a.m. Friday to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue for an intoxicated male who injured himself. Two others at the residence said they stopped him. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance responded and he was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.
– An officer on patrol at South Ellsworth Avenue near East Pershing Street at 12:47 a.m. Friday saw an intoxicated male stumbling on the sidewalk. The male was given a ride home a short distance away.
– A caller at 11:03 p.m. Thursday reported a reckless driver in the 400 block of West State Street. Police located the vehicle and followed behind looking for possible traffic violations but saw none.
– An officer on Maple Street near South Union Avenue at 10:17 p.m. Thursday saw two males walking and one of them had an open bottle of alcohol. Thomas J. Phillips III, 19, of 16 S. Egypt Road, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol. While searching him, police found an unopened bottle of alcohol, a multi-colored glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana and a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana. He was also charged with a minor misdemeanor of possession of marijuana. The second male, Terry Carson, 20, of 711 E. Fifth St., was also charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
– A man reported at 9:57 p.m. Thursday that residents of his home in the 200 block of Park Avenue moved out and might have taken items that did not belong to them. The incident appeared to be civil, but he was told a report would be made for the prosecutor to review.
– Possible menacing was reported at 9:27 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard where a resident reported a male came to the door and started an argument regarding property. He didn’t want the person coming back. Officers contacted the male and told him he was no longer welcome in the home.
– An alarm was reported Thursday night in the 1400 block of the Salem Parkway. The exterior of the building was found secure. A keyholder responded a short time later and the interior was found secure.
– Amy Jo Haines, 24, of 302 E. Chestnut St., Lisbon, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after calling police to a property in the 500 block of Bank Street at 8:29 p.m. Thursday for a domestic/assault case. When police arrived, she was found intoxicated and said she punched her boyfriend multiple times and wished for officers to take her to jail. The victim didn’t want charges pursued. While police were speaking with Haines, she threw an open beer bottle over the second story balcony causing it to shatter on the ground. She also told officers she was going back inside and punch her boyfriend again. She attempted to get past officers several times to do so despite verbal commands. She was charged with both the assault and disorderly conduct and taken to the county jail.
– A man in the 600 block of Woodland Avenue reported at 8:08 p.m. Thursday that two bicycles were stolen from his residence earlier in the day.
– A reckless, possibly intoxicated driver was reported at 6:22 p.m. Thursday traveling west on East State Street. Officers were able to get behind the vehicle on East State Street near Vine Avenue and followed to the city limits on West State Street. No violations or indications of intoxication were observed.
– Police were called at 4:18 p.m. Thursday to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue for Internet harassment and a possible scam for money. A man said an unknown person was asking him for money via social media to cover the taxes of a $150,000 reward the person would send him. Officers told him to block the person from his social media account. The incident is under investigation.
– Nathan Galpin, of Alliance, reported a breaking and entering into a vehicle at 2:40 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of South Broadway, noting nothing was missing.
– Kathryn Fisher, of the 100 block of Washington Avenue, reported at 10:14 a.m. Thursday that sometime overnight her vehicle was egged. Donna Dermotta, a resident in the 400 block, reported at 8:59 a.m. that vehicles were egged on her property also.
– A Cleveland Street resident reported at 9:59 a.m. Thursday that a couple of days ago while at work a known male co-worker sped out of the parking lot whipping gravel all over the front of his vehicle. The vehicle had several nicks and scratches on the hood and window. An officer spoke with the co-worker who said he sped out and threw gravel but he didn’t know it hit the other man’s vehicle. He apologized for the incident.
– Police were called to Consumers National Bank, 141 S. Ellsworth Ave., for an upset person. A man said his state funds were supposed to be available through the ATM at the branch using his identification card. The machine would not dispense the money after numerous tries. Prior to police arriving, the man allegedly confronted a female employee in the lot which was why police were called. His intentions were unknown and he was irate about the money. The manager and officers told him his options and he left without further incident.
LISBON
– Lucas P. Kenney, 28, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after Holly Workman, North Beaver Street, called at 1 a.m. Friday to say there was a drunken man in her home making threats and he would not leave. According to the report, Kenney, after refusing to calm down and cooperate, tried to pull the protective vest from Lt. John Hancock and then threw several punches at him. Kenney also grabbed at officer Mike Cherol, ripping his shirt, and then tried to remove his lapel microphone. As with Hancock, Kenney also reportedly tried to punch Cherol several times after being told he was being arrested.
– Vickie Waite, 55, Apple Grove Apartments, was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to the Night Court at 6:47 p.m. Thursday. Waite reportedly showed up drunk and was refused service and told to leave, but she refused. Waite was uncooperative after police arrived, resulting in the citation.
COLUMBIANA
– Vernon Elwonger, Springfield Road, Columbiana, contacted police on Thursday in regard to landlord/tenant issues.
– A person by the name of Winters, Columbiana-Lisbon Road, called at 1 p.m. Thursday to say two black males were going door to door in the neighborhood. Police found the pair, who were soliciting customers on behalf of Just Energy, and they were to quit until obtaining a permit.
– Julie Drewnoski, Fairfield Avenue, reported Thursday she believes a motorist leaving her neighbor’s property drove through her yard. It was determined the damage was minor and no report was needed.
POLICE REPORTS
SALEM
– Police responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue near Quaker Village at 6:44 a.m. Thursday for a report of a person running on the road with no reflective clothing. An anonymous caller expressed concern because they almost struck the person. Police did not find the runner.
– A possible open door was reported at 6:32 a.m. Thursday at the rear of a residence in the 400 block of East Fourth Street. The back door was opened and officers checked the vacant house for any persons inside. The residence was vacant with no signs of forced entry.
– An anonymous caller at 2:44 a.m. Thursday reported a noise disturbance in the 1300 block of Eastview Drive, saying it sounded as if people were pounding on something. Contact was made at a residence where a man said he was in the process of remodeling the house. He was told to keep the noise down.
– An officer on patrol at 1:25 a.m. Thursday spoke with two males on East Pershing Street just east of South Union Avenue who matched the physical description of two people in the area the previous day attempting to enter vehicles. They were identified and sent on their way.
– An officer on patrol at 1:03 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of East Third Street saw a blue Saturn parked in a driveway with the dome light on and the passenger side door ajar. The owner was contacted and checked the vehicle, noting it was entered by unknown people. Nothing appeared to be missing.
– A domestic in progress was reported at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Hawley Avenue where a woman said she and her husband were fighting. The incident was verbal only and he had left.
– A person with a gun was reported at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday by a man who said he was walking east on West Pershing Street towards a local gas station in the 100 block of West State Street when someone yelled at him and said they had a gun. An unknown object was thrown towards him but did not hit him. He said he ran to the gas station. Police were unable to locate anyone in the area. The man had lost his glasses, but officers were able to find them along the sidewalk and return them to him.
– An anonymous caller at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday reported a malfunctioning traffic signal at the intersection of East Pershing Street and South Lincoln Avenue. An officer responded and found the light functioning properly.
– A suspicious male was reported at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Madison where a caller said the male was seen on his back porch before walking away. Officers checked the area but didn’t find anyone.
– An officer at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday spoke with a woman at the station regarding an alleged theft. She said a female had stolen services earlier in the day, with the area of East State Street and North Lincoln Avenue mentioned on the report. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review of charges.
– Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park near East School Street at 3:26 p.m. Wednesday for a possible report of persons smoking pot. It was found to be vapor with no signs of illegal activity or contraband.
– Police were called at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Rose Avenue for a report of drug paraphernalia. The caller found a used capped needle in an alley. The needle was disposed of properly.
– A caller at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday reported two juveniles walking around in the area of Highland Avenue and Cleveland Street with a blanket saying they were cold. They had left before police were called and could not be found.
Columbiana
– Glen McCoy of New Waterford was westbound on state Route 14 at 8:36 a.m. Wednesday when Patricia Dailey of Lisbon was exiting a private drive and both cars collided. Dailey was cited for failure to yield.
– Myra Shablesky, reported at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday she believes she is being defrauded and threatened by someone she doesn’t know.
– David Cope, 39, Lisbon, was removed from the American Legion property after he was drunk and became disorderly at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday.
Lisbon
– Police were called to the Columbiana County Mental Health Center at 10:36 a.m. Tuesday in regard to a client who was refusing to go to a local hospital. The client agreed to be transported to a hospital after police arrived. Police were called back at 1:26 p.m. when a client made threats about family members. The woman was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Center Township
-Police were advised of drug activity near Lisa Lane on Dec. 30. Police responded to the area to retrieve information. The matter is under investigation.
-Police were advised of a residential alarm at 7175 Route 164. Police checked the residence and found nothing out of place.
– Donna Bishop, state Route 172, called and advised that her nephew took her vehicle and has not returned it. Police attempted to contact the nephew, but were unsuccessful. Charges against the nephew are pending.
– Jake Cannon, Rose Drive, Lisbon, contacted police and advised that he is being harassed by people on Facebook. Police made contact with the persons and advised them to have no contact with Cannon.
