PERRY TOWNSHIP REPORTS

– Police responded to the 300 block of East Pidgeon Road for a parking complaint regarding a yard sale at 11:42 a.m. Friday, but found no visible violations.

– Michael Hoops, Salem, was charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated (refused test) and failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the 400 block of Springdale Street at 12:27 p.m. Friday in which he had driven through a yard and came to rest against a basketball pole. He was attempting to turn around his vehicle while towing a boat when officers arrived. No injuries were reported.

– An Apple Street resident reported at 2:55 p.m. Friday that he had been contacted by a bill collection agency regarding a television bill over $1,000, the account of which had been opened in Delaware and since been closed.

– Police assisted the highway patrol on a traffic stop on Benton Road between West State Street and U.S. Route 62 at 7:02 p.m. Friday and stood by until they were no longer needed.

– A patrolling officer at 10:04 p.m. Friday observed a suspicious vehicle with three individuals parked at the Egypt Road and East Pine Lake Road intersection at the gate of the closed roadway. None of the individuals had warrants, but they also did not have valid driver’s license. The officer stood by until a valid driver arrived.

– Police assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a domestic dispute in the 34000 block of Salem Grange Road at 12:40 a.m. Saturday.

– Police responded to an 1100 block West Perry Street home at 7:30 a.m. Saturday where the resident reported finding his bedroom window open and money missing off his dresser when he returned home that morning.

– Police responded to a Countryside Drive home at 9:05 a.m. Saturday where a resident reported 11 fraudulent charges on her debit card.

– Police received a report about a dog chained up outside the humane society on South Lincoln Avenue at 2:29 p.m. Saturday. The caller was worried that it might get loose. The dog warden was contacted.

– Police responded to the Salem Country Club at 4:39 p.m. Saturday where an infant was having trouble breathing and stood by until medical personnel arrived.

– Police responded to the 1700 block of Allen Drive at 6:35 p.m. Saturday in reference to a dirt bike in the roadway and found a juvenile riding on his property. His parents were advised of the complaint.

– Police responded to 1900 block of state Route 344 at 9:39 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported seeing flickering lights in the wooded area north of state Route 344 and Cunningham Road. Officers checked the area and found people who were leaving a lake where they had been with permission from the property caretaker.

– Police responded to the 1500 block of Manor Drive at 11 p.m. Saturday in reference to a raccoon in a garage and stood by while the humane officer attempting to catch the animal.

– An officer responded to an opened door at an 1800 block state Route 9 business at 8:17 a.m. Sunday. Everything appeared fine and the door left open by neglect.

– Police responded to the area of U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 and Goshen Road at 9:05 p.m. Sunday in reference to criminal damage to vehicle in which the driver was southbound and said that the vehicle was struck by an object thrown from a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, causing damage to the windshield. A second motorist reported around the same time reported the driver of the same vehicle had also thrown an object at his vehicle, damaging it, also on the bypass near Goshen Road.

– Police responded to a West State Street home at 9:10 p.m. Sunday where the resident said a woman she knows punched her in the nose following an argument. The resident did not wish for medical treatment.

SALEM REPORTS

– Marian L. Christensen, 88, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash at East State Street and Ellsworth Avenue at 11:53 a.m. Sunday in which she was northbound and attempted a right turn, striking an eastbound vehicle driven by Kirsten K. Kuhns, 26, Lisbon, who had not cleared the intersection. No injuries were reported.

– Jeffrey J. Cox, 33, Leetonia, was cited for driving under suspension and a turn signal violation after a patrolling officer at 4:26 p.m. Sunday observed him driving in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Fourth Street and knew he was suspended. The vehicle owner, Melanie S. Cox, 33, Leetonia, was cited for wrongful entrustment.

– A Fair Avenue resident reported a dispute with his ex-wife during a custody exchange in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:32 p.m. Sunday.

– Officers responded to the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 7:49 p.m. Sunday for a report of a person yelling and threatening others in the area, but were unable to find the person.

– An officer responded to a Cedar Ridge Drive home at 7:56 p.m. Sunday where a man reported his ex-girlfriend would not let him gather some belongings. He was advised of his options.

– Officers responded to a dispute in the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 8:20 p.m. Sunday and found it to be a verbal argument regarding property.

– Police responded to a dispute at a West Wilson Street home at 8:30 p.m. Sunday and found that the resident’s ex-boyfriend had punched her father in the mouth while attempting to gain entry into the home against his wishes. The ex-boyfriend fled the area, reportedly to his own home, but officers were unable to make contact with him there. Charges are pending.

– Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 block of West Fourth Street at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, but found no evidence of physical violence. An individual involved requested an ambulance and was voluntarily transported to the Salem hospital.

– Officers responded to the 1300 block of Eastview Drive at 4:40 a.m. Monday where a resident reported she was awakened by a loud noise outside, but were unable to find anything out of the ordinary.

– Officers responded with the fire department to the area of Orchard and Cedar street at 6:51 a.m. Monday in reference to an open burning complaint, but were unable to find any violation.

POLICE REPORTS

Salem reports

– Police responded to the 1100 block of Orchard Bend Drive at 7:32 a.m. Sunday where the complainant, who was delivering newspapers, was threatened by a subscriber. An officer checked the area for the complainant but she had left.

– At 12:05 a.m. Sunday, police in the 200 block of Woodland Avenue, observed two male subjects down on the sidewalk. On appeared to have a medical condition and was transported to the hospital.

– At 11:06 p.m. Saturday, police located a vehicle at S. Lincoln Avenue and E. State Street from an intoxicated driver complaint and observed a traffic violation. Michael Boggs, 2200 Goshen Road, was cited for an expired license. He had contraband on him and more charges are pending the lab results. He was cited for an expired registration and the vehicle owner responded and took the vehicle.

– Police were flagged down at 9:28 p.m. Saturday on Continental Drive Ext. regarding a possible intoxicated driver and police were unable to locate the car in the area. Another officer advised later on of a vehicle fitting the description parked and unoccupied on S. Broadway Avenue

– At 5:52 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 300 block of W. State Street to assist a Columbiana County deputy, but upon arrived the help was not needed.

– Police on patrol in the area of S. Lundy Avenue and E. Pershing Street at 5:33 p.m. Saturday found a complainant and a small unattended child. The parent was located and the child was returned to her. The child ran off while she was shopping and she was actively looking for the child. There was no intentional neglect.

– At 4:31 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue for a possible intoxicated person in the complainant’s backyard. He was highly intoxicated and police advised him to stay inside. A roommate said she would make sure he was looked after.

– At 1:50 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of W. State Street and located two male subjects involved in a verbal dispute that turned into a physical altercation. One had left the scene and the other refused to talk about what happened.

– At 12:07 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2800 block of E. State Street for a report of two dogs in a truck in apparent distress due to the heat. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

– Police responded to the 500 block of E. 4th Street at 12:30 p.m. Saturday where the complainant said a vehicle with a loud exhaust was revving its engine while driving up and down the street. Police made contact with residents and the driver of the car was not there. They were advised of the complaint.

– Police responded to the 300 block of Washington Avenue at 11:41 a.m. Saturday regarding an ongoing neighbor complaint involving horn honking, trash in the yard, parking in front of the complainant’s house, speeding up and down the road, driving in his yard and cigarette butts in his yard. An officer spoke to the neighbor across the street who advised it had not been going on for three years as the complainant advised and it just started with the complaints of eggs being thrown. She advised that she tried to speak with the complainant but he said they couldn’t park in front of his residence even though it is a public street. None of the complaints have been called into the police department by the complainant or the neighbor and the officer advised them to all go their separate ways.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– Terry L. Pitzer, 65, Beard Road, New Waterford, was east on West Park Avenue at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday when an unknown object struck the passenger side of the vehicle causing damage.

– Duane Lee Beckley, 24, Salisbury, N.C., was north on Columbiana-Lisbon Road at 6:52 a.m. Friday in a JMC Distribution box truck and attempted to pass under the railroad bridge and damaged the box portion of the truck due to being over the height restriction. No citations were issued.

– Moni Stryffler, Parkview, reported at 12:25 a.m. Saturday four boys were possibly throwing things near her home.

– William Kurl reported at 1:39 a.m. Saturday two people were engaged in sexual activity on South Vine Street and it was waking the neighbors.

– A Farmer’s Bank employee reported at 8:34 a.m. Saturday a suspicious man was sitting by a tree near the employment entrance at the bank and requested police stand by so employees could go into the building. Police spoke with the man who said he had walked there to cash a check and was waiting for the bank to open.

– A man reported at 9:18 a.m. Saturday someone was digging in the woods behind St. Jude Church and hit an unmarked gas line. The fire department was called to stand by until the gas company arrived.

– A man reported at 9 a.m. Saturday two kids at the laundromat were on skateboards running into carts and other things. Police checked but no one was there.

– A Stanton Avenue woman reported at 10:47 a.m. Saturday a neighbor was burning something the night before and it started up again and the smell was really bad. Police checked on the fire and no one was home. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. The homeowner, Chris Ward, arrived as the fire department was finishing up and Ward was warned for open burning.

– A woman reported at 6:44 p.m. Saturday someone dropped off an elderly man at the Circle K and he was sitting outside the business. Police found the man lives on Salem Street and frequents the area.

POLICE REPORTS

Salem reports

– Police responded to the 500 block of E. Pershing Street at 12:02 a.m. and located an intoxicated man on E. State Street near Washington Avenue. He advised he lived a block away and was sent on his way.

– At 2:57 a.m. Saturday, police observed a man and woman in a verbal dispute at the parking in the 100 block of N. Lincoln Avenue. They were identified and the man, Jeremiah E. Burnette, 460 Columbia St., Leetonia, was taken to the county jail on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. The woman was given a ride home by a friend.

– Police responded to the 900 block of W. Wilson Street at 6:19 a.m. Saturday where a man and woman were in a verbal dispute over car keys which were later found. The man advised he would leave for a while.

– At 11 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 2800 E. State Street for a dispute in the parking but were unable to locate anyone.

– At 7:55 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 200 block of E. 2nd Street where the complainant advised a cell phone was taken from his vehicle. He was advised of the options.

– At 7:54 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 2400 block of E. State Street for a report of a dog in vehicle with the windows up. Police found the vehicle was running with the air conditioning on.

Police responded to the 300 block of Sharp Avenue at 7:38 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised of receiving harassing text messages from a known person.

– A lost bank card was located in the 100 block of S. Ellsworth Avenue at 7:28 p.m. Friday and dropped off at the police station. The owner retrieved it.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Arch Street at 6:29 p.m. Friday for a juvenile complaint and spoke to the parents and advised them of the process to file charges.

– At 11:27 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to an accident in the 500 block of state Route 9 where the northbound vehicle operated by Megan M. Hoover, 1789 N. Lincoln Ave., went off the road striking a traffic sign, a house and another vehicle owned by James Ray of 571 state Route 9. There were no injuries to Hoover, who fell asleep at the wheel. She was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control.

– At 2:13 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 300 block of E. 4th Street regarding a report of an unsupervised child in an upstairs apartment. Police spoke with the mother who had been sleeping and didn’t know how the child got out.

– Police responded to the N. Union Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Friday where the driver said his front wheel fell off while he was driving. Police located five lug nuts about 100 feet from the vehicle.

– At 11:31 a.m. Friday, a complainant from Pennsylvania was on station advising an unauthorized charge was made on his credit card at a Salem store. He was provided with a report number.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– Police assisted the highway patrol with a rollover crash on Creek Road at 12:36 a.m. Friday.

– A man reported at 6:52 a.m. Friday a box truck went through the Columbiana Lisbon Road underpass and sheared off the top of the truck.

– Kevin Kirby of Columbiana was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on West Park Avenue at noon Friday.

– A South Elm Street landlord requested at 3:35 p.m. Friday police stand by while she checked the home where Austintown Police were on Thursday.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– Police responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 5:11 a.m. Friday for an alarm at a residence. The exterior was found secure, then the homeowner was contacted and responded. The interior was checked and the dog door had fallen out of the door to the home, which the homeowner attributed for the alarm.

– A ticket was issued at 1:36 a.m. Friday for a vehicle parked in a no parking zone on the north side of East Fourth Street in the 100 block.

– A caller from the 1200 block of East Third Street at 1:26 a.m. Friday reported a suspicious vehicle parked on the road. The vehicle was found legally parked with nobody in it. The owner appeared after seeing the patrol car behind the pickup and advised she was just visiting a friend in a nearby house. She asked if she needed to move the vehicle, but was told no.

– An officer on patrol at 12:36 a.m. Friday in Waterworth Memorial Park near the duck pond saw four people in one of the pavilions after the park closing time of midnight. They were advised of the park hours and sent on their way.

– A verbal dispute was reported at 11:23 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Maple Street where officers made contact with a mother and daughter. The daughter was upset because someone took her ice. The two were told to stay away from each other for the rest of the night.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:43 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of East Fourth Street where the vehicle was found parked on the wrong side of the road with no headlights lit and then attempted to leave. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver said he was just there to pick up his girlfriend.

– A vehicle was reported at 9:54 p.m. Thursday being operated in a reckless manner with a possible intoxicated driver in the Walmart parking lot in the 2800 block of East State Street. The vehicle was found legally parked and unoccupied. No violation was observed.

– Police responded to an open burning call at 8:52 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of East Fourth Street. The fire was legal with seasoned wood and no hazard.

– Officers observed a large amount of smoke coming from a fire in a back yard at 8:26 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of West Pershing Street. Officers spoke with the tenant and the fire department responded, with the man advised of the burning laws.

– Police were called at 8:02 p.m. Thursday about an accident called in by a third party in the 100 block of West State Street. Contact was made with the actual victim who did not wish to report the accident at this time. The person was attempting to contact the other person involved to make arrangements for the damages to be fixed.

– An officer in the 700 block of East School Street was flagged down at 7:31 p.m. Thursday by a juvenile at Waterworth Memorial Park who said he was being chased by other juveniles wanting to fight with him. Officers checked the surrounding area, but didn’t find the other juveniles.

– A man in the 1300 block of Jefferson Avenue reported at 7:07 p.m. Thursday that an unknown person was sending him unwanted text messages. An attempt was made to contact the other person but was unsuccessful.

– A woman on West Wilson Street reported at 5:41 p.m. Thursday that an unknown male was hanging on the railroad crossing arm and possibly broke it. The officer did not observe the crossing arm to be broken but it was malfunctioning. Norfolk Southern was notified. The male was not located.

– Police responded to a medical call at 5:34 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of East Third Street where a juvenile was feeling faint and ill and was being checked by medical personnel. She was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center and her mother was contacted.

– Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Franklin at 5:12 p.m. Thursday to check for a possible water line break. They located the water coming from a yard. The homeowner said his outdoor pond sprung a leak.

– A caller at 4:43 p.m. Thursday reported a possible intoxicated driver weaving on the street in the area of Benton Road and West State Street. The vehicle was described as a yellow Chevy Cobalt. An officer initiated a traffic stop, but there was no indication of any substance abuse. The officer told the driver to be more careful.

– Christopher Steele, of East Liverpool, reported at 4:11 p.m. Thursday that he believed his car was broken into possibly in two locations in the city. His wallet containing a bank card was taken, along with jewelry, cologne and medication. His bank was notified.

– Officers responded at 3:32 p.m. Thursday to the 1200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue for a disorderly/irate person concerning a late fee changed for a Uhaul truck and a situation with a storage unit.

– Police were called for a parking complaint at 2:07 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Highland Avenue. A vehicle was parked on the wrong side of the street and was moved to the other side where parking is permitted.

LISBON

– Kyle Temple, North Market Street, reported his vehicle was struck by an unknown motorist while it was parked at the village park on Cedar Street on Tuesday afternoon. His vehicle’s side rear door and quarter panel were damaged.

-Police were asked by a county fair board member to speak to some youths about climbing in buildings at the fairgrounds at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police told the youths the fairgrounds is open to the public for walking but they are not to be in buildings.

– Scott Wisner, North Street, called police in regard to a domestic situation at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Police spoke with both parties and Wisner refused to provide a statement because he did not want his spouse to go to jail. Meanwhile, his wife left for the evening.

COLUMBIANA

-A caller reported Thursday someone spray painted the side of a building at 16 Prospect St.

-Police assisted Austintown police by finding a vehicle at 245 S. Elm St. at 5:33 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle was wanted in connection with a burglary that occurred in Austintown.

-A caller reported there was an animal stuck in the toddler pool at Firestone Park at 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Police were able to free the animal from the pool.

-Sue Whitehead reported Thursday being bitten by a dog, which is believed to be a golden retriever that has been running loose in town.

-Larry Weingart reported a boy was riding a skate board on Duquesne Street at 8:52 p.m. Thursday.

-Jonathan Coleman, 34, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on West Park Avenue at 5:13 p.m. Thursday.

– A suspicious person was reportedly loitering around the Circle K store at 9:11 p.m. Thursday, but the person was gone by the time police arrived.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– Officers responded at 10:16 a.m. Thursday to the 300 block of East Euclid Avenue to check on a person with an active warrant out of Columbiana County. The person fled on foot prior to officers making contact. They were given a physical description of the person and checked the area but were unable to locate them.

– An anonymous caller at 8:20 a.m. Thursday reported a truck parked on the wrong side of the road at North Union Avenue and East Third Street, unloaded equipment and had cones all around the truck. The caller was extremely upset that this happens daily. Officers met with the vehicle driver in question and he was told to move it to the other side of the street where parking is allowed or contact the city service/safety director about getting permission to park there while working. He didn’t want any neighbors to get upset and said he would move the vehicle and check his options for the future.

– The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance at 1:33 a.m. Thursday with locating people involved in an assault in the county’s jurisdiction. Officers located the people at a residence in the city and remained on the scene until a deputy arrived to continue his investigation.

– Police were called at 1:20 a.m. Thursday to an alley behind a residence in the 100 block of East Sixth Street for a report of a suspicious person talking on a phone. Nobody was found.

– Megan Hoover, 18, of North Lincoln Avenue, was cited for reasonable control after a one-vehicle accident at 11:27 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue. She said she fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to go off the road strike a speed limit sign, then a residence at 555 N. Lincoln Ave., then a parked car in a driveway at 571 N. Lincoln Ave., pushing it up against the house. The parked vehicle was owned by James Ray.

– A dog was reported at large at 10:48 p.m. Wednesday on Franklin Avenue at Ohio Avenue. Police located the dog lying in the front yard of its residence. No violation was observed.

– An officer at 10:22 p.m. Wednesday saw an occupied vehicle parked on city property just off of Pennsylvania Avenue, north of the Cranmer bridge. The officer made contact with the occupant who said he stopped to eat and was watching the trains. Although he wasn’t causing a problem, he was told the area is posted for no trespassing. He said he didn’t realize and left.

– Police responded to the 200 block of West Wilson Street at 8:11 p.m. Wednesday to check on a large amount of white smoke originating in the area. The smoke was coming from legal fireworks (smoke bombs) being ignited at the rear of a residence on Newgarden Avenue, however, there was also a person at the rear of a property in the 200 block of West Wilson burning freshly cut tree limbs. The person was told only dry, seasoned wood is permitted to be burned and to put the fire out.

– A silver Grand Am with an exceptionally loud stereo was reported at 7:59 p.m. Wednesday on Olive Street. Officers located the vehicle but the music had already been turned down. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver told about the complaint and city ordinance pertaining to loud music.

– Police were called at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of East 11th Street for a report of heavy equipment obstructing the roadway. An officer determined it was far enough off the road to not be a hazard.

– Police were asked by another agency to respond at 6:17 p.m. Wednesday to an address in the 600 block of Park Avenue for a well-being check. Nobody answered the door.

– A verbal dispute between roommates was reported at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Walnut Street. The resident allowed two friends to move in last November, but now wants those friends to move out. They were all told the landlord would be responsible for pursuing an eviction. All were told to stay away from one another if they can’t get along.

– A security alarm was reported at 5:21 p.m. Wednesday at a business on Elm Avenue. The exterior was checked and an unsecured door was discovered. Officers checked the interior and saw nothing that appeared out of order. The keyholder responded and secured the business.

– A malfunctioning railroad crossing gate was reported at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday on West Wilson Street. Norfolk Southern was made aware of the problem.

– Police responded at 4:06 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of West Second Street to check a storage facility for a person who was possibly living in one of the units. Officers were accompanied by an attorney for the property owner. Contact was made with the person who was affirmed to be sleeping at the unit. Officers told him he could not legally reside within a storage unit and the attorney told him the property owner wanted him to vacate the unit by the next morning. He said he would clear out his things.

– Thomas Brown, 23, of Kent, was cited for assured clear distance after his westbound vehicle struck the rear of a westbound vehicle driven by Terry Stanford, 58, of East Third St., who was stopped in traffic at a traffic light at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday on State Street near Union Avenue. Brown admitted to being distracted by looking down at a map. No injuries were reported.

PERRY TWP.

– Police responded at 1:40 a.m. Thursday to the area of Elberon and Andrew avenues for a report of people riding ATVs/dirt bikes in the fields at the end of the roadways. No one was found.

– Adam Lodge, 24, of 1584 N. Lincoln Ave., was taken into custody at his residence at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for receiving stolen property. He was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia after police located a narcotics pipe in plain view that is commonly used for smoking marijuana. He was transferred to the custody of a sheriff’s deputy. A Salem officer had also responded to assist the township officer.

– A vehicle driven by Madeline Penfold of Salem sustained damage to the front end after a deer ran into her path at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday on Newgarden Road just south of state Route 45.

– Officers were called at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday regarding juveniles trespassing on private property on Egypt Road at Pine Lake Road. Officers were unable to find any juveniles.

– Police officers and members of the U.S. Marshal Service responded to the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue after receiving a tip of a wanted person at a residence. An initial check of the residence did not turn up the wanted person, but a short time later, the person contacted the U.S. Marshals and said he had returned to the home and wanted to turn himself in. Police personnel and U.S. Marshals returned and took the person into custody. Scott A. Martin, 35, whose last known address was Smithville, was taken into custody on a probation violation and taken to the Stark County Jail by the U.S. Marshals.

COLUMBIANA

– Kenneth Shea of Columbiana was west on East Park Avenue at 9:21 a.m. Wednesday and Gregory Chepke of Leetonia was north on South Elm Street and crossing West Park Avenue and failed to yield from a stop sign and struck Shea. Chepke was cited for stop sign.

– Perry Township police reported at 9 a.m. Wednesday a computer stolen from someone in the township was pawned at Cashland in the city.

– A woman reported at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday a woman appeared to be sleeping in a gray car with the windows rolled down in Firestone Park. Police checked and only found one gray car there and it was unoccupied.

– Willoughby Hills police requested at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday police check on a Union Street man after their department received a 911 call from that number. Police checked but did not find the man there. Neighbors told police they saw the man leave the home about an hour ago.

– A woman from the Ryther Auction House in Lawson, Missouri, reported at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday she was concerned about a man, identified as William Kimpel, who had tried to make an online purchase but his card was declined and they were unable to reach him.

– Someone reported anonymously at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday a dog from a home on Eureka Street was running at large and that witnesses saw it kill two kittens about a week ago and it was still coming in the Old Saybrook neighborhood. The caller said the residents have mentioned the problem to the dog’s owners and there have been no results. Police spoke with the owner, Patricia O’Brien, who said that she had the dog put down because of its aggressive behavior.

– Andrew Deafenbaugh, Columbiana, reported at 5:14 p.m. Wednesday she backed into a car in the Village Plaza.

– Police assisted Austintown Police with attempting to find a vehicle on South Elm Street at 5:33 a.m. Thursday.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– An anonymous caller at 2:59 p.m. Wednesday reported a parking complaint, saying a United States Postal Service vehicle was parked with the wrong side to the curb. Police located the vehicle legally parked on Aetna Street.

– Police responded to an alarm at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Vine Avenue. The resident arrived and opened the back door which was locked. The interior was checked and all appeared ok.

– A resident in the 400 block of West School Street called at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday to report harassment. Police located two roommates, with one who accused the other of harassment. Both sides were advised to cease communications until they can be civil. One voluntarily left.

– A dispute was reported at 12:21 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street where police located a male and female arguing. The female was visiting from Florida and arguing with the male over family issues. The male agreed to take a walk to allow the situation to calm down. No marks of physical violence were seen.

– A caller contacted police at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday expressing concern for a dog inside a vehicle in the area of South Broadway and East State Street. Officers located the vehicle and the dog appeared fine. The vehicle was parked in the shade and the windows were left partially open.

– Mark Rishel, 34, of 274 W. Fifth St., was taken into custody on a warrant for failure to appear on child support after an officer aware of the warrant learned the male was supposed to be at a business in the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:12 a.m. Wednesday. After being told the male had just stepped out the door, the officer checked the area and saw the male near some unattached garages in the alley behind the business. The male began running and the officer called out to dispatch. The male was stopped on West Eighth Street and complied with officers’ commands. Since the officer was unable to make contact sooner, there won’t be an obstruction charge.

– Jacob Guy, 39, of Carbon Hill Road, East Palestine, was cited for assured clear distance after his vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Rebecca Bentfeld, 64, of East Palestine, who was stopped in the westbound lane of East Pershing Street at South Lincoln Avenue at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday.

– Karen Baquer, of Woodland Avenue, reported at 7:41 a.m. Wednesday that her vehicle was struck by an unknown object and damaged while parked on the street Tuesday.

– Cody Farnsworth, 28, of 1265 Cedar Ridge Drive, was cited for expired registration after a traffic stop at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday.

– An alarm was reported at 1:02 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. The exterior of the business was found secure.

– City employee Doug Moffett reported at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday that he heard what he thought was gunshots in the area of Stadium Chevrolet on West State Street. The area was checked and nothing was found.

– Loud persons were reported at 12:07 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Euclid Street. A female resident said she was talking on the phone on her front porch. She was told to keep the noise down and refrain from yelling due to the time of the night.

– An alarm was reported at a business in the 2300 block of East State Street at 11:13 p.m. Tuesday. The exterior was secure.

– An officer removed debris found at 10:14 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue.

– Police responded at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of Continental Drive where a man reported a vehicle running unattended in the lot. The business was closed and the vehicle appeared to have been left running by accident. An officer turned off the ignition and secured the vehicle, leaving the keys in the drop box.

– A caller at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of Westview and Sunset. An officer checked all of Westview, Orchard Bend and Shady Lane and surrounding areas, but the vehicle had already left.

– A woman in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue reported at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday that her ex-husband came to her residence wanting to see his children. She said a verbal altercation developed at the back door and he reportedly slammed the storm door on her right hand and left. She wanted it documented.

– A man in the 500 block of Columbia Street reported at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday that while eating his dinner on his balcony, the next door neighbor exited his residence, yelled something and went inside. Contact was made with the neighbor who said he thought the man was sick and needed help. The man said he was having difficulty breathing but was fine and needed no assistance.

– Accidental damage was reported at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue where Brian Lippiatt of Slater Road said he was driving when his rear passenger windshield was struck with a rock and shattered. A resident was doing yard work and weed whacking when he hit a rock, causing the projectile to hit the rear windshield. Both parties were given the report number for insurance purposes.

– A woman from West Wilson Street asked police to respond at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday to the Salem Public Library where she said a bike on the bike rack looked very similar to her son’s bike. She believed it was stolen from the residence. Officers went inside and spoke to the owner of the bike who said he borrowed the bike from his cousin.

– Police were called at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday to Waterworth Memorial Park off of Superior for a report of juveniles turning on the water at the pavilion and leaving the water running. The water was off when police arrived. A group of juveniles told an officer they turned the water on to get drinks and wash off but didn’t leave it running.

– An anonymous person at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday dropped off a vehicle key found in the parking lot at Sparkle Market on South Lundy Avenue. The key was placed in the police lost and found.

Juveniles were reported on the roof of the restroom at Centennial Park at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, but were gone when officers arrived.

– A well-being check was requested at 5:31 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue. The caller said an elderly man had been walking around her residence and tried to make entry, then went into a neighbor’s house. An officer made contact with the neighbor, learning the man was a visiting family member.

– A man on Newgarden Avenue reported at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday that his ex-girlfriend was harassing him and refusing to let him see their children. Ohio custody laws were explained and he was told to consult an attorney regarding visitation and custody. He was also told the ex-girlfriend would be advised to cease contact with him and he should contact police if the harassing calls or texts continue.

– A woman in the 500 block of Franklin reported at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her via phone and text and she has told him to stop contacting her. An officer spoke to the ex-boyfriend and told him to have no further contact with her.

– Evelyn Spence, 36, of East Euclid Street, was cited for failure to yield right of way after pulling her vehicle out of the Walmart entrance southbound onto Cunningham and striking the front of a southbound vehicle driven by Chezney Clemens, 29, of Lisbon, at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.

– A suspicious person was reported at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of East State Street, but the vehicle was not located.

– An employee of a commercial business in the Salem Industrial Park in the 1400 block of Salem Parkway reported at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday that in the month of April, there were three purchases on the business account that were not purchased by the business. The bank has already cancelled the card.

– Dartanyen Helton, 20, of 228 Vine Ave., was taken into custody at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for a probation violation. He was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.

– A neighbor dispute was reported at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday in the 1900 block of Fairview Court. A man said the neighbors who lives behind his residence have been draining their swimming pool and the water has flooded his back yard. He had not yet advised the neighbors. An officer contacted the neighbors who said they would redirect the water away from his residence.

– A resident in the 400 block of West School Street reported at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday that his roommate has been making threats of suicide on social media within the last week. They’ve been arguing due to him trying to evict the roommate. Police checked and were told the roommate was with his mother.

– A dog was reported at large in the 700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday. The dog was found in the alley with its leash tangled around a bush behind its residence. The owner was contacted and retrieved the dog.

COLUMBIANA

– A Norfolk and Southern Railroad employee reported at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday a man was staggering by the railroad tracks on Creek Road near Metz Road and was trespassing on railroad property. Police warned Paul McCallister for trespassing.

– Jennifer Trump, Fairfield Avenue, reported at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday people were yelling at her daughter through the door of the home. Police found one of the men was a solicitor for the Youngstown Vindicator and was doing so without a permit and the other was Mike Stempfel of Cuyahoga Falls, who had two warrants out for his arrest. Campbell police told city police to advise Stempfel to turn himself in on Friday.

– Bryan Blakeman, Homestead Avenue, reported at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday there was a suspicious vehicle at the club house on state Route 14.

LISBON

– A loud music complaint was received in the 200 block of North Beaver Street at 2 p.m. Tuesday but police did not hear any music when they arrived.

– Dennis Vince reported he was backing out of the WIC parking lot about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday when a young man driving a red vehicle claimed Vince’s silver Mercedes struck his vehicle. Vince said he did not feel himself strike anything, nor were there any marks on his Mercedes. He decided to file a report in case the other driver wants to pursue the matter.

SALEM

– A driver’s license left at Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., was turned over to police at 2:26 a.m. Tuesday and placed in the lost and found.

– An alarm was reported at 1:11 a.m. Tuesday at a business in the 300 block of South Broadway Avenue, but the building was found secure.

– A possible altercation was reported at 12:17 a.m. Tuesday on North Broadway Avenue and East Third Street. No disturbance was found. A couple people were sitting on a porch with no problem observed.

– Loud music was reported at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South Howard Avenue. Several people were sitting on a front porch and said they had not been playing music. They were told to keep the noise down.

– Loud music was reported coming from a vehicle at 9:03 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Fourth Street, but no disturbance could be found.

– Police were called at 8:42 p.m. Monday to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street for a dispute/juvenile problem. Officers spoke with the people involved and determined there was a verbal dispute over family issues. No physical violence was reported. The female juvenile left to stay with a family member.

– An anonymous person came to the station at 8:02 p.m. Monday regarding an incident with a juvenile, but it was determined the incident occurred outside the city limits. The person was given information about the correct jurisdiction to contact.

– Ryan Gillis, of the 800 block of Homewood Avenue, reported at 7:30 p.m. Monday that someone broke his car windshield with a baseball bat. A neighbor said she heard a crash and believed it was juveniles playing outside behind his property. Officers then spoke to two male juveniles who admitted to breaking the windshield by accident when the baseball bat slipped out of the hands of the one juvenile. The owner did not want anything done due to the fact the car was going to be donated in the near future.

– A female resident in the 100 block of East Fourth Street reported at 6:59 p.m. Monday that someone keeps parking a vehicle in front of her residence after she asked them not to park there. An officer advised the vehicle was legally parked on a public roadway.

– Animal neglect was reported at 6:23 p.m. Monday in the Walmart parking lot on East State Street where a woman said an animal was locked inside a car. Upon checking, the animal was found to be ok and the windows had been more than half-way opened.

– A juvenile problem was reported at the duck pond at Waterworth Memorial Park at 5:13 p.m. Monday. A woman said an adult and juvenile female started a verbal altercation with her juvenile daughter and friends. An officer spoke with both parties and advised them to cease contact. Both agreed to not contact each other.

– Taryn Grodhaus, of North Lincoln Avenue, reported at 3:55 p.m. Monday that someone struck the driver side rear quarter panel of her vehicle while parked at Salem Regional Medical Center.

– A caller from the 2300 block of East State Street called at 3:48 p.m. Monday to report two men in a burgandy Tahoe-type vehicle were attempting to solicit money from people at several locations inside the city. Officers were unable to find the vehicle or people involved. An off-duty officer witnessed the vehicle leaving the city and was able to provide the vehicle registration.

PERRY TWP.

– Police were called at 10:26 p.m. Monday to the 800 block of Cunningham Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle in a driveway, but didn’t find anything.

– Richard Allen Weyand Jr., 25, whose last known address was Harvey Avenue, East Liverpool, was cited for fictitious plates and driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 8:22 p.m. Monday on South Lincoln Avenue near East Pidgeon Road. The vehicle was towed from the scene and Weyand walked from the scene.

– A woman in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue called at 5:10 p.m. Monday regarding a suspicious person who showed up at her home. She said the male resides at her former address and was there to give mail addressed to her at the former address. She felt threatened when the person said she needed to change her address.

– Police responded at 4:37 p.m. Monday to the 700 block of East Pidgeon Road for a report of a medical call. The caller advised a female pulled into the driveway and passed out. The female told police she was feeling ill so she pulled over. KLG Ambulance checked the female and she refused to go to the hospital. Police found possible drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and will have it tested, the report said.

– A Benton Road resident in the 1300 block came to the police station at 3:24 p.m. Monday to report the theft of a Walmart credit card. He believed a family member stole the card and used it at numerous locations. The matter is under investigation.

LISBON

-Vessie L.Ward, 29, North Market Street, was charged with assaulting a police officer for shoving an officer she had asked for help at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Ward called to have police to check on the welfare of her children, who she believed were living in the downstairs apartment with their father. Taylor Merriman answered the apartment door, and only she and her children lived there. Ward told police she wanted them to search Merriman’s apartment and became irate when they refused. When Ward refused to calm down she was arrested for disorderly conduct. At that point she shoved Sgt. Shar Daub and pushed officer Abu-Ghannam and raised her fists, challenging the officers to fight. Daub pulled her Taser and threatened to use it on Ward unless she quit, which she did. While being transported to the police station Ward reportedly told Daub she would cut her throat. In addition to assault and disorderly conduct charges, Ward was charged with aggravated menacing for threatening Daub and resisting arrest.

– Police were called to the Hornsby House on Rose Drive at 12:42 a.m. Tuesday in regard to George B. Mort causing problems with other residents. Mort 41, was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the county jail.

– Police were called to the Steel Trolley Diner in regard to a minor traffic accident at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. There was a small scratch on the unidentified car and to the license plate of the vehicle that left the scene.

– A clerk at the Circle K reported finding a small bag of marijuana by the Polar Pop machine at 1 p.m. Friday. The officer took the bag as evidence, and the staff said they would examine the security video to see who dropped it.

– A 1997 Jeep Wrangler was reported stolen from the Elkton Auto Corral lot at 8 a.m. Friday.

– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 10:48 a.m. Friday about resident Vickie Waite threatening other residents with a cane. Waite told police people were threatening to harm her, but there was no one else around and she was told to go back inside her apartment.

– Police were called to the Hornsby House at 11:15 a.m. Friday to assist staff in helping transport a man by ambulance to a local hospital to be mentally evaluated. The man did not answer his apartment door, and officials found him in the kitchen armed with a knife and hammer. He dropped the items when told to do so and police escorted him to the ambulance. He continued to blow fluids through his nose, so EMTs placed a mask on him.

– Eric Liston of North Lima reported Thursday a Lisbon man had taken a number of items from when he worked for Liston and sold them at several Youngstown pawn shops. One of the items was a set of truck racks, with Liston producing proof of ownership. Police escorted Liston to the home of Mike Garganos, South Lincoln Avenue, where the truck racks were retrieved without incident.

-Robert Palmer, North Beaver Street, reported there was a minor accident on his property at 10 a.m. Sunday. Police determined it was the truck that had been struck on Saturday.

– David W. Palmer of Carrollton was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, driving under suspension and failure to stop an assured distance after he reportedly struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Dalton R. Simko of Columbiana at the Carter Lumber intersection at 4:37 p.m. Saturday. Palmer reportedly fled the scene but was caught by a county sheriff’s deputy less than a mile away at the Twin Oaks trailer court.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– A resident from the 400 block of West School Street called police at 2:28 p.m. Monday to report his roommate/landlord had been making threats to allegedly harm him. He wanted to file a report on the incident. An officer responded to the property so the resident could fill out a voluntary statement. The incident was under investigation. Police had been called to the same property at 1:54 p.m. Monday for a domestic dispute. A man said he was having issues with his brother-in-law and wanted him to leave. He said he issued a three-day eviction notice, but was advised by police he must file with the court. He wanted the person removed from the premises.

– A neighbor dispute was reported in the 500 block of Cedar Street at 2:27 p.m. Monday. A woman said the next door neighbor had brush laying against the fence to her property and had been asked multiple times to move it. There is about 6 inches of her property on the other side of the fence. Officers made contact with the neighbor who agreed to move the brush.

– A resident in the 600 block of Olive Street reported lines in the road at 12:37 p.m. Monday. Officers stood by until the fire department arrived. It was determined to be a cable wire that had been ripped off by a delivery truck. Firefighters removed the wire.

– Officers assisted Children Services in an investigation at a residence in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:42 a.m. Monday. The guardian of the children was present and cooperated with the case worker.

– Police were called at 10:48 a.m. Monday to respond to a verbal dispute in the 1400 block of Oak Street but were unable to find the people in question or any verbal dispute in the area.

– A woman who came to the police station at 10:42 a.m. Monday reported a male known to her has been driving around the city on a suspended license.

– Councilman Clyde Brown called police at 10:32 a.m. Monday to report a vehicle parked on the sidewalk in the 500 block of East Pershing Street. An officer made contact with a worker at the business and advised them of the complaint.

– An officer on patrol at 10:30 a.m. Monday located a vehicle parked at the rear of a closed business in the 1800 block of East State Street. The vehicle was unoccupied and had a broken wheel.

– Police were dispatched at 9:11 a.m. Monday to the First Baptist Church, 1290 E. State St., for a theft report. The pastor of the church advised the mailbox was taken sometime between Thursday and Monday.

– An officer on patrol at 6 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue noticed a person having trouble loading an item into her vehicle. The officer stopped and provided assistance.

– An officer at 2:32 a.m. Monday noticed a suspicious vehicle in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue in a parking lot. The tow vehicle was running and did not appear to have anyone inside. The officer discovered the driver of the vehicle had the seat back and was attempting to sleep because he was not feeling well. The driver’s information was checked.

– Loud music was reported at 11:32 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue. A male was told to turn down the volume of his television.

– Justin Sommers, 26, of 1175 E. Third St., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence after a traffic stop Sunday night at Woodland and State shortly after police were called to a domestic dispute at his residence at 10:44 p.m. Sunday. A woman said she had been in an argument with her husband over his alcohol use and he left before officers arrived. Officers were reportedly told he was intoxicated and was going to Circle K on East State Street to buy more alcohol. An officer saw the vehicle and initiated the traffic stop. After being processed at the station, Sommers was released to a relative.

– Loud music was reported at 9:30 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot in the 200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. The music was turned down before police arrived, but the people in the lot were told about the complaint.

– Police were called at 9:17 p.m. Sunday to the 900 block of Arch Street where a known male had been outside a residence attempting to make contact with a resident. The property owner said the person had been advised previously that he doesn’t want him on the property. He left before police arrived. Police made contact with him later and told him about the complaint and possible trespassing charges if he returns to the property.

– A well-being check was requested for a resident in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:11 p.m. Sunday. The resident reported being fine.

– A dog was reported at large in the area of East Third Street and Rose Avenue at 5:03 p.m. Sunday. The owner was already aware and attempting to catch the dog. The dog was caught a short time later by the owner.

– A woman in the 600 block of South Lundy Avenue reported at 4:45 p.m. Sunday that the front license plate fell off of her vehicle.

– An officer was flagged down at 4:43 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue where a flatbed was preparing to remove a vehicle left abandoned on a property for two months. Attempts had been made to contact the owner, but nobody was reached. A person there wanted the situation documented in case the owner reported the vehicle stolen.

– A resident in the 600 block of Continental Drive reported at 4:15 p.m. Sunday that he and his roommate got into a verbal altercation. The other half said the same and was leaving for awhile to avoid a further problem.

PERRY TWP.

– Police responded to the 1300 block of West State Street for an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle report at 5:28 p.m. Sunday. After speaking with the woman who called, it was found the incident was civil in nature. A female was purchasing a vehicle off of the woman and violated a contract between the two of them. The caller was told her options.

– Brian T. Bell, 29, of 7443 Spillway Road, Lisbon, was being cited for failure to assure clear distance ahead and leaving the scene of an accident after police were called at 12:23 p.m. Sunday to a hit/skip accident on South Lincoln Avenue between East Pidgeon Road an Snyder Road. A vehicle driven by Aaron May, 19, of Hanoverton, had slowed in traffic and was struck in the rear by the Bell vehicle. Bell left the scene and was followed by May who contacted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Bell was located at Mark’s Landing by his vehicle by deputies.

– Salem Police asked Perry Township Police to check on a reckless driver in the area of West State Street and North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:35 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was not found.

– An officer located a suspicious vehicle parked at the intersection of East Pine Lake Road and Egypt Road at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, occupied by two male juveniles and an 18-year-old female. The parties were identified and records checked for runaways or warrants, with all found in order. They were warned about trespassing and sent on their way.

– Police responded at 10:35 p.m. Friday to Old Coach Lane near Plymouth for a report of an ATV in the road, but were unable to locate anything.

– Police were called at 8:13 p.m. Friday to check the well-being of a 9-year-old female at a residence in the 1700 block of Goshen Road. A caller advised the father has visitation with the child and was highly intoxicated in a phone conversation, saying the father is not allowed around the child if he’s drinking. Police spoke with the male who said the child was with another family member.

– While on patrol at 8:12 p.m. Friday, an officer caught two people dumping bags of grass clippings from a pickup at the closed section of Pine Lake Road at Egypt Road. They were identified and advised against illegal dumping. They were also advised that charges may be pending if the property owner wished to pursue the matter.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 7:14 p.m. Friday on Depot Road between a male and female over relationship issues. Both parties said there was no violence, just arguing over possession of a cell phone. They were advised of the domestic violence laws and consequences of physical violence. The male left for the night.

– Police were called at 8:40 a.m. Friday to the intersection of Benton Road and Garfield Road for a report of a person sitting in his vehicle at a stop sign and not moving. An officer arrived and found the vehicle stopped at the stop sign on Garfield Road with the person awake, claiming to have fallen asleep on his way home from work. After further investigation, the driver, Michael Scott Vrabel, 52, of 521 W. Wilson St., Salem, was found in possession of drug abuse instruments along with a white folded piece of paper with a brown substance believed to be suspected heroin in his possession. He was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and taken to the Columbiana County jail. The brown substance will be sent for further testing with further charges pending. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

COLUMBIANA

– Travis Crawford, 24, Wampum, Pa., was cited for open container following a traffic stop on St. Andrews Drive at 1:27 a.m. Sunday.

– Jane McCusker, Spinnaker Court, reported at 5:17 a.m. Sunday there was a suspicious person at a home on Spinnaker Court. Police found a boy and returned him to his parents.

– A man reported at 11:12 a.m. Sunday there was graffiti on a building on South Main Street.

– A 7&14 restaurant employee reported at 2:37 p.m. Sunday a woman was asking customers for money and had indicated she was possibly in an argument with her boyfriend that was outside. Police spoke with Hollie Reese, 26, East Liverpool, and found there had been no threat of violence. She was then asked to leave the property.

– A Circle K employee reported at 7:37 p.m. Sunday two boys were riding bicycles between traffic in the parking lot.

– A man reported at 7:41 a.m. Friday he was following a vehicle in Leetonia and it hit a telephone pole and then he took off. Police found the vehicle on state Route 344 and waited until Leetonia police arrived.

– Tom Pyatt reported at noon Friday he was behind a reckless driver who was passing on the right side on state Route 7. Police notified the highway patrol.

– A woman reported at noon Friday there was a man staggering on the sidewalk who kept getting close to the road and appeared to be intoxicated. Police warned Ronald Brewer, 55, Columbiana, for disorderly conduct and released him to his wife.

– Police warned a Back Bay resident for open burning at 2:39 p.m. Friday.

– Shawn Mercer, 45, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Fairfield Avenue at 8 p.m. Friday.

LISBON

-Police were called to the corner of South Jefferson Street and East Lincoln Way about a man with a possible broken leg at 3:35 a.m. Sunday. David W. Gilbert was found outside the Steel Trolley Diner and told police he hurt his knee after falling from his motorcycle when a woman pulled out in front of him. An ambulance crew arrived to transport him to a local hospital.

-The following people were cited for speeding over the weekend: Kenny A. Solomon, Ann Von Luhrte, Corey R. Higgins, William M. Owens, Lisa A. Komara, Christopher J. Perry and W.D. Mixon.

-Charles S. Cox was cited Friday for running a stop sign.

-Jeffrey R. Boals was cited Friday for running a red light.

-Dennis J. Edmond and Ralph Allgood Jr. were cited Friday for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

-Grace M. McClester was cited Sunday for driving with an expired license.

– An officer assisted Sebring police in a pursuit along Beloit Snodes Road of a person wanted for domestic violence at 7:31 p.m. May 11.

– An officer responded to an 11000 block Beaver Creek Road home at 7 a.m. May 12 in reference to an unruly juvenile and spoke with both people involved.

– An officer responded to a Fairview, Beloit, home at 3 p.m. May 12 in reference to a domestic dispute. Both people involved said it was just an argument.

– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 11000 block of Green Beaver Road at 12:01 p.m. May 13, but found all windows and doors secure.

– An officer assisted Damascus first responders with an incident in the 11000 block of Calla Road at 10:39 a.m. May 13 in which an elderly man had fallen. The was evaluated and found to be okay.

– Officers responded to a drug law violation in the 15000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 10:54 a.m. May 14.

– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 12000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 8:50 a.m. May 14, but found everything to be okay.

– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 9000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 5:04 p.m. May 14, but found everything to be okay.

– An officer responded to the Colonial Villa trailer court at 7 p.m. May 19 where residents reported a woman had been talking to their children and they did not want her to. The woman was advised to stay off other people’s homes and stop talking to their children.

– Tyler Lee Antoniazzi, 21, Columbiana, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash on state Route 14 at Beaver Creek Road at 4:09 p.m. Saturday in which he was eastbound and slid into the rear of a vehicle driven by Larry W. Lippiatt Jr., 54, Salem, who was attempting to turn left. Lippiatt was treated on scene for possible injuries.

SALEM

– An officer responded to the 1000 block of East 10th Street at 4:18 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile urinating on a vehicle. The officer spoke with the juvenile and sent him home. There was no evidence of urination in the area, however.

– Officers responded to the Reilly Stadium area at 5:16 p.m. Friday in reference to a possible fight, but were unable to find any disturbance.

– An officer responded to a Cleveland Street home at 5:50 p.m. Friday where the resident reported an item had been taken from his yard.

– An officer responded to a Lexington Avenue home at 6:18 p.m. Friday where the resident reported her juvenile daughter had been locking her out of the home and backtalking. The daughter was advised against her actions.

– Officers responded with medical personnel to a Columbia Street home at 8:02 p.m. Friday where a man was found on the ground in his back yard. The man was transported to the hospital.

– Officers responded to Centennial Park for a reported fight at 8:44 p.m. Friday. The individuals involved said they staged the fight in order to get someone’s attention.

– An officer responded to a West Wilson Street home at 9:55 p.m. Friday where the resident reported several cats on the roof and she was afraid they would be injured. The officer advised the resident that the only option was to contact the animal control officer.

– Officers responded to the 600 block of South Union Avenue at 10:56 p.m. Friday in reference to suspicious people who the complainant claimed were talking about driving while intoxicated. The officers spoke with individuals at a nearby party, all of whom were of legal drinking age, but none of whom were driving.

– An officer responded to the East Fifth Street area at 12:41 a.m. Saturday in reference to loud music from a residence, but was unable to find any. The officer returned to the area at 2:37 a.m. for a report of a loud person, but again found no violation. The officer did speak to a woman at a gathering and advised her of the complaint.

– A patrolling officer at 1:23 a.m. Saturday observed a vehicle parked at Waterworth Memorial Park. The occupants said they were just talking. They were advised of park hours and told to leave.

– A patrolling officer at 5:02 a.m. Saturday was flagged down by an elderly man in the 1100 block of East State Street who said he was lost and could not find a business he owns in downtown. The officer recognized the man as an early dementia victim with whom he had had a previous encounter. The man’s daughter was contacted to pick him up.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– An officer responded to the 14000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 8:26 a.m. May 9 in reference to an injured deer. The deer was euthanized due to its injuries.

– An officer responded to the 12000 block of Goshen Road at 10:33 p.m. May 9 in reference to an elderly woman unable to get up. Damascus EMS transported the woman to the hospital.

– An officer responded to a burglary report in the 14000 block of West Calla Road at 4:05 p.m. May 10.

– An officer responded to a Goshen Road home at 5:09 p.m. May 10 where the resident reported her ex significant other had been calling and text messaging her.

SALEM

– Police responded to the 1100 block of Maple Street at 11:18 a.m. Thursday advising that $400 was taken from her purse while she was sleeping at home. The incident is under investigation.

– Police responded to the hospital emergency room at 12:45 p.m. Friday where the staff was having a problem with a patient who was not cooperating and police stood by until he calmed down.

– At 1:21 p.m. Friday, police received a report on station from a resident in the 1900 block of East Pidgeon Road advising that some sort of cannon was shooting up the road and it was shaking their windows. Police said it would be checked.

– At 1:39 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 2900 block of East State Street for a problem regarding window washers at a business who were harassing the complainant.

– At 12:55 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue for a report of a man with a warrant in the business. He was gone when police arrived.

– At 6:01 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a three-vehicle accident at Franklin Avenue and Maple Street. Steven McKinney, 674 E. 6th St., Salem, was cited for assured clear distance after the vehicle he was operating hit the back the vehicle operated by William McMillen 6391 Fairfield Road, Columbiana, pushing it into the rear of the vehicle operated by Kenneth Anderson, 2117 state Route 45, Salem. The vehicles were southbound on Maple Street and a passenger in the McMillen vehicle, Julie McMillan, was taken the to hospital with injuries.

– At 10:11 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the Hawley and Cleveland Street area for a gas odor and firefighters responded and informed Columbia Gas.

– Police responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Drive at 7:50 p.m. Thursday for a complaint of a neighbor making threats toward the complainant.

COLUMBIANA

– Someone reported at 1:17 a.m. Thursday there was a suspicious man at the Circle K. Police found the man, identified as Andrew Wichert, 30, Canfield, had an active warrant through the county sheriff’s office. He was turned over to the county.

– A woman reported at 6:43 p.m. Thursday two vehicles were following her from North Lima and were tailgating her and trying to pass her. Police told the woman to drive to the police station, which she did, and the vehicles stopped following her.

– A man reported at 8 p.m. Thursday he saw and heard a gun being fired on North Bayshore Drive. Police found the noise came from someone using a noise maker to keep geese away.

LISBON

– The door to Dr. Getzinger’s office on Exchange Street, was found open by a delivery person at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday, but nothing seemed to be amiss. The owner was contacted.

– Payden Chapman reported she was driving on Saltwell Road at 7:07 p.m. Thursday and being followed by someone in a pickup truck with a gun. Chapman was located at Greentree Place, and she said she received second-hand information that a man she knows was going to take revenge against everyone involved in a court case. Chapman said she thought the truck driver might be that person, although she never saw the driver or if there was a weapon.

– Police were called to the Children Services agency at 4:20 p.m. Monday, where a 17-year-old boy was acting out because he was unhappy with his current situation. Police arrived and followed the caseworker until she delivered the boy to where he was to spend the night.

– Emma G. Bortmas, Chestnut Lane, Hanoverton, reportedly backed into a vehicle driven by Melody K. Craft, Woodvale Lane, Columbiana, outside the Subway sandwich shop at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday.

SALEM

– Police responded to a report of a child unattended at a home in the 1700 block of East State Street at 12:41 p.m. Thursday. An officer found the child was not unattended since a woman was sitting by the stroller.

– A caller at 10:19 a.m. Thursday reported a male yelling in the hallways in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue looking for a female, then he went out into the back parking lot of the facility where he located his wife, who had been next door at the counseling center. She had gone back to the car and they said all was fine.

– Jonathan Abbott, 28, of 184 Jennings Ave., was charged with a minor misdemeanor of disorderly conduct after police were called at 7:19 a.m. Thursday to the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a report of an intoxicated male walking out into traffic. The male was located and was extremely intoxicated and unsteady. After being cited, he was given a ride home.

– A woman came to the police station at 7:01 a.m. Thursday saying she wanted her tenant out of the building she owns in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue. She was told she had to go through the eviction process.

– A vehicle was reported stolen at 5:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Franklin Avenue, but when officers arrived, the vehicle was in the driveway. The male owner said his girlfriend told him the vehicle was not in the drive when she left for work and he looked out the window and the vehicle was not there so he called police. When he went back to the door, another female who lives there came into the residence and the vehicle was in the drive. He did not give her permission to drive the vehicle, but didn’t want anything done. She said she never left the driveway in the vehicle.

– A person was asked to be removed from the 800 block of Barclay Avenue at 2:09 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke to the female and she was advised the homeowner didn’t want her there. She left on foot.

– Lindsay Buckley, 26, of 1265 Cedar Ridge Drive, was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to her residence for a domestic at 12:17 a.m. Thursday. A man said he had an argument with his girlfriend and mother of his children, saying she was intoxicated and attempting to leave with a friend to continue drinking. He said he was headbutted twice and attempted to keep her there because he didn’t want her driving, then she scratched the left side of his neck and left. Officers made contact with the female and her friend several blocks away. She said nothing physical happened at the residence other than the male throwing her against the wall. There were no marks on the female. Photos were taken of the male’s injuries. The female, Buckley, was taken into custody.

– A wallet found on South Ellsworth Avenue was turned over to police at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday and the owner contacted.

– A harassment report was taken at 9:31 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. The man was given his options for dealing with the matter.

– A juvenile problem was reported at 9:31 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Oak Street where a woman said a juvenile would not listen to her and kept throwing tantrums. She was told her options.

– A man on Ansley Way came to the police station at 9:13 p.m. Wednesday regarding a dispute that took place in the 900 block of West State Street over a driving incident. He only wanted a report on file.

– Mason Jewell, 24, of 284 E. Fourth St., turned himself in at the police station on an outstanding warrant at 8:39 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken into custody and released to a sheriff’s deputy.

– A man on Newgarden Avenue reported at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday that his soon-to-be ex-wife has been contacting him after he told her not to anymore. An officer was unable to contact her.

– A woman at Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., reported at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday that small items were taken from the store. The person had since left the area, with the theft under investigation.

– Steven McKinney, 24, of 674 E. Sixth St., was charged with assured clear distance ahead after his southbound vehicle on Franklin Avenue struck the rear of a vehicle driven by William McMillan, 61, of Columbiana, causing McMillan’s vehicle to strike the rear of a vehicle driven by Kenneth Anderson, 61, of state Route 45 at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicles sustained minor damage. A female passenger in the McMillan vehicle advised of stomach pain and was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT Ambulance. Salem firefighters also responded to the scene.

– A woman reported at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday that two people had been harassing her at her place of employment in the 2900 block of East State Street. She was told her options.

– A caller at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday reported several male juveniles using vulgar language at Waterworth Memorial Park. An officer spoke with the juveniles.

– Suspicious activity was reported at 5:04 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem recycling center in the 200 block of South Ellsworth Avenue where a caller said two people had been removing items from the recycling dumpsters and putting them in their vehicle. Officers spoke to the male and female about the complaint.

– A suspicious person was reported at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of South Union Avenue where a male had been walking around a residence for the past few days. Contact was made with the male who said his mother lives next door and he was waiting for her to get home from work.

– An anonymous caller at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday reported a female tossing clothes out of a residence yelling the items were free for the taking. Officers arrived and saw the clothing on the ground. No one was around. The items were on the property and no problem to those in the area.

– Police were called to an establishment in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue for one to be removed, finding a male standing outside who was calm. The owner said she wanted him off the property due to actions inside the bar. A ride was located for him.

– A woman reported a theft at 12:18 p.m. Wednesday, saying that her daughter placed her cell phone down in the junior high band room at the school on Sixth Street and someone removed it.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– An officer responded to the area of state Route 14 and Egypt Road at 5:15 a.m. May 14 in reference to a man passed out in the roadway. Upon arrival the officer found two Salem units on scene assisting the victim, a diabetic who passed out while walking. Green Township first responders arrived and transported the man to the hospital.

– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 10000 block of Stratton Road at 5:04 p.m. May 14 and found a keyholder who said the building was secure and one of the workers must have left the door open.

– A patrolling officer at 5:38 p.m. May 15 observed a vehicle parked in a field along the railroad tracks in the area of state Route 14 and Duck Creek Road. The occupants, a father and son, said they were train enthusiasts who were waiting for a specialized train to come through. The officer observed apparent tools for the outing and cleared the scene upon determining they posed no risk to themselves or the trains.

– An officer responded to a Cedarwood Drive, Beloit, home at 10:26 a.m. Monday where the resident reported seven fraudulent charges made to his bank account in Georgia.

– An officer responded to an Oakwood Street, Beloit, home at 6 a.m. Tuesday for a medical assist and stood by until the resident was transported by Beloit and Sebring EMTs to the hospital.

– An officer responded to the area of state Route 165 and Washingtonville Road at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a small fire called in by a passer-by. The officer searched the area but was unable to locate any fire.

COLUMBIANA

– A woman reported at 1:11 p.m. Wednesday someone threw out a garbage bag on West Metz Road and it possibly had drugs inside. Police checked and found it did not appear to be drugs and recommended the bag be thrown away.

– A solicitor’s permit was issued to Joseph E. Taorminoa of Aliquippa, Pa., for Comcast Xfinity on all streets in the city at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

– A North Main Street man reported suspected child abuse at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday but it was later determined the child had been playing with makeup which was mistaken for bruising.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– An officer on patrol at 5:42 a.m. Wednesday saw that numerous vehicles had been hit with eggs while parked on the street in the area of East Third Street, Brooklyn Avenue, South Union Avenue and Fair Avenue.

– A woman in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street reported at 5:28 a.m. Wednesday that her juvenile daughter ran away Tuesday night and didn’t come back until early in the morning. Officers told her to file unruly charges with Juvenile Court and call the police if she runs away again.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Cleveland Street. Both parties said they had an argument which turned into a minor altercation, but both had different accounts of what transpired. The domestic violence laws and consequences were explained to them. A family member responded to stay at the residence for the remainder of the evening.

– Officers at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday located multiple deer in the downtown area between Ellsworth Avenue and Broadway Avenue. They were able to direct the animals out of downtown without incident.

– Officers responded at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of East Third Street to check the well-being of a female who had not been heard from in an extended period. Her vehicle had not moved and additional information had been provided regarding her state of mind when last contacted. Based on the totality of the circumstances, police with assistance from the fire department made entry into the residence and located the female inside. She was heavily intoxicated and transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT Ambulance.

– Police responded to Walmart for a dispute between two people at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with the people in question. The male advised he was getting a ride from a friend to leave the store and avoid any escalation of violence.

– Police delivered a message at 7:56 p.m. Tuesday to a Cedar Ridge resident from the Tobin Center.

– A resident in the 900 block of East Third Street reported a theft at 7:36 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect was not known to the victim. The investigation was turned over to a detective.

– Jennifer Rodden, of North Howard Avenue, reported at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday that her vehicle broke down the night before and she was given permission from Speedway to leave it there in the 100 block of West State Street. When she returned the next day, the two front tires were stolen off the vehicle.

– Police responded at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday to Kennedy Drive near the culdesac for a report of ATVs on the road. Police located an ATV and told the person the rules per city ordinance.

– Police were called at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday to Giant Eagle, 2401 E. State St., to speak with a person over a civil matter regarding money and Western Union. The person left the premises before police arrived.

– An anonymous caller at 2:24 p.m. Tuesday reported a vehicle parked on the front lawn of a residence in the 900 block of Adams Avenue. An officer was unable to make contact with anyone, so a note was left on the vehicle advising they can’t park in the front yard.

– A caller at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday reported a white Ford Escape parked in the 900 block of East Fifth Street running all day. Police found the vehicle unattended and running with the keys in the ignition. The vehicle was secured and a note left for the owner to pick up the keys at the police station.

– Police were called at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Ohio Avenue for a child custody dispute. The father of a baby had left the property yelling. No threats of violence occurred, only name calling.

– An officer made contact at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday with a woman on Newgarden Avenue to deliver a message to contact a family member in East Liverpool over a family matter.

– An audible alarm was reported at 1:58 p.m. Tuesday on Shady Lane. The exterior was found secure but the inside door leading from the garage was slightly open. The inside of the residence wasn’t accessible.

– Elizabeth Millikin, of East 10th Street, reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday that her car was parked on the street overnight and the driver’s side door had a scuff mark on the molding near the back of the door. She believed someone may have tried to pry it open. The alarm system did not go off but seemed to be malfunctioning the next day.

– Police responded at 3:08 a.m. Wednesday to the 1700 block of state Route 9 for a reported tree blocking the roadway. The Ohio Department of Transportation was contacted and removed the tree.

– Police responded to the 1300 block of Elberon Avenue at 2:29 a.m. Wednesday for a noise complaint. The offending party had already gone inside, but was told about the complaint. They agreed to keep the noise down.

– A resident of Depot Road called at 12:29 a.m. Wednesday to request removal of an intoxicated male from the home. Before police arrived, the male left in a vehicle and could not be located. The female said he made threats toward her and her property, but she didn’t want to pursue charges.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported driving around the area of Brookview Drive near Manor Drive. Police made a traffic stop on a known person who said they just happened to be in the area at the same time as the call. No other vehicles were found in the area.

– A theft was reported at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday from Circle K South in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The matter is under investigation.

– Police responded to the 200 block of Idaho Avenue for a report at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday of two suspicious males who entered a residence recently sold at auction by opening a sliding glass door. The vehicle with two males left before police arrived. The vehicle was a large black truck and the caller wasn’t sure if they were the new owners.

– An officer was requested to respond to the 1000 block of Liberty Street at 9:28 a.m. Tuesday to assist KLG Ambulance and Columbiana County Adult Protective Services with the court-ordered removal of an elderly female from her residence. The female was taken from the residence without incident and taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment.

– A burglary was reported at 11:08 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Prospect Street where a resident said she came home and found the front door open and some items missing. The matter is under investigation.

– An unwanted person was reported at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue where he was asked to leave. He did so cooperatively.

– Police responded to the 1800 block of Hunt Road for a report at 4:27 p.m. Monday of an assault on a school bus on Newgarden Avenue near state Route 45. A male juvenile hit a female juvenile in the eye. The incident is under investigation.

– Police responded to Old Farm Lane and Brookview Drive at 3:57 p.m. Monday for recovered property after a passerby saw several items in the bushes just off the road. The owner was contacted to retrieve their belongings.

– A suspicious male was reported walking at 2:11 a.m. Monday on South Lincoln Avenue near Circle K, but was not found.

– A possible stolen vehicle was reported at 7:25 p.m. Sunday by a Benton Road resident, but after gathering information, it was determined to be a civil matter. The resident was told his options.

– Clayton Hoperich, of Georgetown Road, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his eastbound vehicle on state Route 14 struck the back of a vehicle driven by Jenelle Adams, of Eric Drive, Lisbon, who was slowing to turn onto Ohio Boulevard at 4:54 p.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported.

– Police responded to the 700 block of West Pidgeon Road at 4:29 p.m. Sunday for a report of a raccoon stuck in a garage. Officers left for a two-vehicle accident but contacted the humane officer to try to catch the animal. The animal got free and ran into the woods.

– A runaway juvenile was reported at 9:22 p.m. Saturday in the area of Goshen Road and West Pine Lake Road. Police were unable to locate her. Salem Police were also notified.

– An unsecured door was reported at 1:50 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of West State Street. Police checked the building and found nothing out of place and nothing wrong with the unsecured door. It was determined the building was located in the city, so the Salem Police Department was notified.

– A loud noise was reported at 2:41 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Benton Road. Police spoke to some people having a fire and listening to music. They were told to turn down the music and keep it down for the night.

– A loose dog was reported in the 1400 block of Garfield Avenue at 11:33 p.m. Friday. The dog had broken free from the chain and was found at a neighbor’s residence. The owner was contacted and retrieved the dog.

– James Marx, of Hampton Place, reported at 1:10 p.m. Friday reported that someone entered his vehicle during the evening/early hours of April 19 and removed several items.

LISBON

-Police observed a white dog with a collar running around town at 3:55 p.m. Friday, but the officer could not get close enough to see if it had tags. The dog warden was contacted but was unable to get close enough to capture the dog. A resident called later to say they caught the dog and its owner is from outside of town and was coming to retrieve the pet.

– A caller reported hearing an explosion on North Market Street at 8:33 p.m. May 11. Police came across a lot of smoke but were unable to find its source.

– A caller reported being unable to take her child to the Play Town playground at 12:25 p.m. Monday because a dog came at them. Police arrived and spoke to two teachers who had brought some students to the park to perform volunteer work and they had been playing with the dog. Police found the dog and saw that it was a puppy being trained to be a therapy dog.

– Debbie Curtis, North Market Street, reported being involved in a dispute with her neighbor at 12:19 p.m. Monday. Curtis said she shares a garage with the other tenant, who removed her two wooden saw horses and also broke some of her items. Police spoke to Ted Davis, who said the horses belong to the landlord, not Curtis’ boyfriend. Police told Davis to stay out of Curtis’ side of the garage, and Davis said he wanted her to do the same. The officer said she would do that but she wanted Davis to return the horses first.

COLUMBIANA

– Police received multiple calls at 4:19 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man lying in the shoulder of state Route 14 near County Line Road.

– Marcia Denamen, Austintown, reported at 1 p.m. Tuesday she discovered that a ring she took some time ago to Kimpel’s Jewelry to have the prongs fixed had the 2-carat diamonds removed and replaced with glass. Denamen said the glass was discovered when she had the ring reappraised.

– Taylor Jones, Firestone Avenue, reported at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday a bag was either lost or stolen from the car.

– The sheriff’s office requested assistance at 433 Pittsburgh Street at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday to attempt to make contact with someone at the home.

SALEM

– A dispute was reported at 6:09 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Barclay Avenue where the resident said a person who’s not welcome at the property fled prior to police arriving. Police located the person several blocks away and they were advised not to return to the residence.

– An officer responded at 2:51 a.m. Tuesday to the area of Tim Hortons, 2262 E. State St., to speak with a man described as homeless. He said he was just released from Salem Regional Medical Center and needed a ride back to Lisbon. Officers and dispatch were able to help him contact the proper agency to get him transportation.

– An intoxicated male was reported lying down in the Walmart parking lot on East State Street at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday. Contact was made with the male who said he was ok and was just leaving.

– Police were called at 10:16 p.m. Monday for a medical emergency at Quaker Village, 201 S. Lincoln Ave., where a man told officers he had not slept in four days, had thyroid problems and didn’t have his medicine. He wanted checked out by medical personnel and was taken to the hospital emergency room.

– Police responded to the 800 block of East School Street to Waterworth Memorial Park for a medical emergency reported at 6:51 p.m. Monday. Officers located the person in question who said he was injured while playing basketball, but said he was fine now and did not need any assistance.

– An audible alarm was reported at 6:33 p.m. Monday at a closed business in the 1100 block of Salem Parkway. The exterior of the business was secure.

– A security alarm was reported at 5:50 p.m. Monday at a business on Elm Avenue. The owner on the scene affirmed that all was fine.

– A person came to the police station at 5:26 p.m. Monday to report a family member took a credit card without his permission and used it to make cash advances at a local store. He also filed a report with Perry Township Police. The case is under investigation.

– Police were dispatched at 4:04 p.m. Monday to Waterworth Memorial Park off of East School Street for a report of juveniles tearing the soffit off the pavilion. A man said there were kids around the pavilion but they had taken off.

COLUMBIANA

– Ryan Russo, Key West, Fla., reported theft or fraud against Kimpel’s Jewelry at 1 p.m. Monday.

– Kelly Schach, North Main Street, reported at 3 p.m. Monday a dog bit someone on the Firestone Park walking trail.

– Chanie Banks, Duquesne Street, reported at 7:20 p.m. Monday a neighbor was allowing a dog to defecate in other yards.

– A woman reported at 8 p.m. Monday a raccoon by the pool in Firestone Park appeared to be sick. Police checked but found nothing abnormal.

SALEM

– A man from the 600 block of East Sixth Street reported at 12:38 p.m. Monday that he returned to his apartment on Friday and found the front door halfway open. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing appeared to be stolen. He couldn’t reach his landlord and asked an officer to try to make contact, but there was no answer when the officer tried.

– A Leetonia woman reported at 12:25 p.m. Monday that she was at a business in the 2700 block of East State Street on Sunday for 15 minutes and forgot her diamond necklace. She called the business and the owner advised nobody reported locating the necklace. An investigation was pending.

– A female juvenile reported at 11:50 a.m. Monday that a juvenile male threatened to kill her and beat up her male friend. The suspect was supposedly next door at the neighbor’s house looking out the window, but he left before police arrived. Police spoke to the suspect and he admitted to being next door but denied making any threats. He was told to stay away from the female.

– A representative of Donnell Ford, Continental Drive, reported at 9:38 a.m. Monday that the dealer plate was lost from a truck used as a demo. He believed the plate fell off during transit due to the plate not being securely fastened. The plate was entered into the law enforcement data base.

– A man in the 900 block of East Third Street reported at 8:41 a.m. Monday that a Blazer was parked behind his apartment overnight in working and running condition. On Monday morning, he found the vehicle jacked up and resting on cement blocks. All four wheels and tires were stolen. The lug nuts, scissor jack and lug wrench were left at the scene. The theft was under investigation.

– A woman in the 1000 block of West State Street reported at 8:26 a.m. Monday that she attempted to make an ATM withdrawal from her account on Sunday and her bank locked her out of her account. She contacted the bank and was advised a charge of $100.52 was purchased using her account number at a clothing store in Columbus. The card has been cancelled.

– John Bridge, of the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue, reported at 6:29 a.m. Monday that sometime over the past weekend, an unknown person entered his apartment and stole several items, including a carpet scrubber, shirts and two lock boxes.

– Police were called at 4:57 a.m. Monday to the 200 block of West 13th Street for a light flashing in a back yard. Officers responded and saw a light flashing on a decorative lighthouse in the back yard of a property. No problem was found.

– A security alarm was reported at 2:59 a.m. Monday in the 2300 block of Southeast Boulevard, but the business was found secure.

– Officers at 9:30 p.m. Sunday checked on Salem fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance at a scene in the 600 block of East Fifth Street, observing contraband in plain view in a common area. The contraband was taken as evidence and officers spoke with the resident.

– Anna Anderson, of New Waterford, reported at 8:54 p.m. Sunday that she believed someone damaged her vehicle’s motor while the vehicle was parked at her place of employment in the 200 block of Continental Drive.

– Gregory Harper, 46, of Middletown Road, North Benton, was taken into custody and turned over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputy on an active warrant at 7:25 p.m. Sunday after calling police to a property on West 10th Street where he reported a private property accident from earlier in the day in the Walmart parking lot. The accident involved his vehicle, which was driven by woman, and another vehicle driven by another woman. Both vehicles were backing frm parking spots and struck each other.

– A natural gas leak was reported at 6:34 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Aetna Street. The fire department was able to shut the gas off at the meter. Columbia Gas was notified to respond.

– A dispute was reported at 1:29 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street. Police spoke with both parties and one agreed to leave so there would be no further problems.

– A 16-year-old juvenile male from Salem came to the station at 12:46 p.m. Sunday with his father and turned himself in for an outstanding arrest warrant. The teen was taken to the Tobin Attention Center in Lisbon by a Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputy.

– An alarm was reported at 12:13 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Jennings Avenue, with the exterior of the property found secure.

– A domestic dispute was reported at 3:43 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East Third Street where a man said his girlfriend wouldn’t let him inside to get belongings to leave for the night. She said they had an argument and he threatened her. She wanted him to leave for the night. He obtained some clothes and left.

Lisbon

– Police were called to a disturbance on Prospect Street at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, where they met Matt Preston, who said his son was playing at a neighbor’s house when the woman at the residence ordered him to leave and used obscenities in the process. The neighbor denied using obscene language, but admitted telling Preston’s son to leave because he was being a “smart mouth.”

– Police were called to a South Green Street residence at 10 p.m. Sunday in regard to a woman who may have taken too many pills. The man at the residence said the woman had driven away and police were unable to locate her.

– A caller reported there were several dogs on the roof of a West Chestnut Street home at 7:14 p.m. Friday. The resident said that is not possible since the window to the roof was blocked. Another person called with the same complaint at 9:45 a.m. Friday. The county dog warden was aware of the situation and possibly going to retrieve the dogs on Monday.

– A caller reported a woman was being belligerent at the Steel Trolley Diner at 4 a.m. Sunday. The woman was in the process of leaving with her sister when police arrived, and police told her not to return that night.

– Police responded to a report of a man possibly having a heart attack at Shenanigan’s Pub at 12:28 a.m. Sunday. The man was found standing in the parking lot with his daughter, and police remained until an ambulance arrived.

– A caller reported there was a drunken man walking his dog on West Lincoln Way at 12:16 p.m. Saturday. Police searched the area but did not see the man or his dog.

-Police responded to a disturbance on Moore Street at 11:22 a.m. Friday, but Kathryn Mateson, 21, would not provide any information despite having red marks around her neck as if she had been choked.

– Police responded to a report of a man having a seizure at the Valley View convenience store at 9:08 p.m. Thursday. Police arrived to find Robert Vecchio sitting inside the store but he began having a seizure just as the ambulance arrived and he was transported to a local hospital.

– Police were called to the Lepper Library parking lot at 7:22 p.m. Thursday after a vehicle’s rear hatch fell on someone’s head, causing him to bleed profusely. Police remained until an ambulance arrived.

SALEM TWP. REPORTS

– Dennis Cross, of old state Route 344, Leetonia, reported at 10:08 a.m. Friday that sometime between May 7 and May 12, someone stole two motorcycles from behind his house.

SALEM REPORTS

– While assisting another officer at 1:08 a.m. Sunday with a follow-up investigation in the 200 block of East Third Street, an officer heard what appeared to be a domestic situation coming from a residence in the 300 block. A boyfriend and girlfriend who reside together were arguing over an alleged cheating claim the man made against the woman. She said her boyfriend pushed her down on the porch and she hit her head. There was no visible injury and she refused medical treatment. The male denied pushing her down and said she pushed him. A witness in the residence refused to talk with officers about what happened. Neither party wanted to write a statement. During the investigation, officers learned of an active warrant out of Texas for a parole violation for a male in the home. Christopher Plumlee, 35, of 318 E. Third St., was taken into custody on the warrant as a fugitive from justice. He was transported to the Columbiana County jail.

– An officer en route to work for the midnight shift at 11:50 p.m. Saturday saw a young female juvenile with a blanket wrapped around her walking north on Jennings Avenue. The officer knew the juvenile was from a local group home in the Goshen Township Police jurisdiction, contacted dispatch and confirmed there was a missing juvenile reported. The officer stopped the juvenile and marked cruisers from the Salem Police Department responded. The 14-year-old girl was taken to the police station and charged with an unruly juvenile offense. She was later turned over to Goshen Township Police and transported to the home on Sharon Lynn Drive.

– A domestic in progress was reported at 10:40 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street. Both people involved said a verbal dispute turned physical and both claimed to be pushed by the other. They were both told their options.

– A resident on Quaker Lane called at 10 p.m. Saturday to report four suspicious juveniles in the area. Officers spoke with the juveniles in question, who all lived in the area, and told them about the complaint. Officers did not see any type of suspicious behavior.

– A verbal dispute was reported at 8:36 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Aetna Street. Both parties were advised to avoid each other for the rest of the night.

– A domestic was reported at 8:20 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Continental Drive. There was a verbal dispute over a vehicle, with no physical violence reported by either party. The female involved was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by ambulance after complaining of stomach pains.

– Officers responded with Columbiana County Sheriff’s deputies to several locations in the city on Saturday to check for persons with active arrest warrants.

– An intoxicated man was reported walking in the road on Bank Street at 7:26 p.m. Saturday, but was not found.

– Officers checked two separate locations in the city for a report of stolen property at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, but nothing was located.

– A person was requested removed from the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 7:02 p.m. Saturday. A woman said she asked a man she knows to leave. He left after she called the police. She was told to call back if he returns and was told the process for obtaining a protection order.

– Police were called at 6:22 p.m. Saturday to the 400 block of Aetna Street for a reported theft. Officers spoke with the people involved and told them the situation was civil in nature.

– William J. McFarland, 44, of 308 Ohio Ave., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension and speeding after a traffic stop at 6:04 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of East Third Street. He was released to a sober ride.

– An ATV was reported in the road on Olive Street at 4:03 p.m. Saturday. Police checked the area for several minutes, but were unable to locate an ATV.

– A woman was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center after police were called to the Walmart parking lot, 2875 E. State St., at 2:12 p.m. Saturday for a suspicious vehicle. The report said a blue Chevy SUV had reportedly been sitting in the parking lot over 12 hours with the driver still inside. Officers spoke with the female driver who said she had some things to return and was making a list but had not yet exited the vehicle due to the rain. Officers observed the female to have very slow, slurred speech, contracted pupils and noted she looked pale in appearance. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance arrived to attend to the woman before she was taken to the hospital.

– City police were requested by Perry Township Police at 2:03 p.m. Saturday to check an open door in the 1000 block of West State Street. The building was found secure.

– A caller at 9:47 a.m. Saturday reported a child from a residence in the 300 block of Fair Avenue threw a rock at a relative’s vehicle. Officers found no one home and no vehicles in front or beside the residence. No one answered the door. Officers spoke with the neighbors who knew nothing. The report was unfounded.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– Police assisted a Leetonia police officer with a traffic stop at 12:34 a.m. Saturday on state Route 344 near Ridge Street.

– A boy was found near Columbiana Boiler at 2:48 a.m. Saturday and detained until he was released to his father.

– Jacob Arsuffi, 22, North Lima, was charged with OVI, speeding, failure to control and possession of marijuana at 9:55 a.m. Saturday. He reportedly struck a mailbox while he was being pulled over on Springfield Road.

– The county sheriff’s 911 reported receiving several 911 prank calls with children in the background from a home on Fairfield Avenue. Police spoke to the parents about the children playing with the phone.

– Amy Gosselin, state Route 14, reported her dogs started barking and she looked outside, seeing a man in a gray hoodie near her vehicle at 7:43 p.m. Saturday. When he saw Gosselin, he walked down the street toward state Routes 7 and 14. Police found Gerrard Jackson of Toledo and warned him about soliciting without a permit.

– Firefighters and EMS responded to assist at a crash at the intersection of state Routes 558 and 164 at 11:21 p.m. Saturday.

– Kristin Stalnaker, West Salem Street, reported at 11:47 p.m. Saturday someone broke their window.

SALEM REPORTS

– An officer in the parking lot of Home Depot at 4:52 a.m. Saturday was advised of a man lying on the edge of the road just east of the city on state Route 14. The officer began checking the area and the Goshen Township Police Department was contacted to respond. A man was found lying on the edge of the road near Egypt Road and state Route 14 and began moving as the officer approached, saying he needed an ambulance for a medical condition. The Green Township Fire Department was contacted to respond and Goshen Township Police arrived to handle the call.

– A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 1:58 a.m. Saturday in the area of State Street traveling east. Police located the vehicle traveling at a low rate of speed and weaving within its lane on East State Street at Park Avenue and also striking a curb at Southeast Boulevard. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the vehicle pulled over top of the curb in front of Bob Evans and into the curb lawn. The driver was an elderly male who was not from the area. He was not intoxicated. An officer escorted the driver and his wife to the Salem Holiday Inn and contacted family members to make them aware of the incident and their location.

– A officer at 1:44 a.m. Saturday saw a suspicious red Chrysler sedan parked on the east end of the business plaza in the 2900 block of East State Street. The vehicle was secure and nobody was around. The officer found businesses in the plaza secure.

– A dog was reported running in the road in the 1800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:20 a.m. Saturday. Police saw the dog in the front yard of a residence bark a few times and a male opened the door to let the dog inside. The officer did not see the dog on the road but on its own property.

– An officer on patrol at 12:26 a.m. Saturday on East State Street near Lincoln Avenue noticed an illegally parked vehicle in front of a business. The owner of the vehicle said he was loading equipment and would be moving shortly. He was told he would need to park in the back parking lot for loading and unloading and was not permitted to park in front of the business.

– An intoxicated person was reported near the 1100 block of East State Street at 10:49 p.m. Friday, but was not found.

– A barking dog was reported at 10:19 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Arch Street. Contact could not be made with the owner, but a tag was left on the door and a citation may be issued.

– A caller late Friday reported two dogs roaming free attacked a neighbor’s dog. Contact was made with the owner of the dog which was attacked. The dogs at large could not be found.

– Seth Guy, 24, of 296 E. Wisconsin Ave., Sebring, was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital after a one-vehicle accident in the 2100 block of Bentley reported at 9:32 p.m. Friday. The report said the driver, Guy, lost control and the vehicle went left of center, over the curb and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene with heavy front end damage and Ohio Edison responded due to the pole being cracked by the impact. Charges are pending against the driver.

– Police were called at 9:25 p.m. Friday for a report of an intoxicated driver in the 1100 block of East State Street.

– A male at East Fourth Street and Vine Avenue spoke to police at 7:28 p.m. Friday regarding menacing, saying he was riding his skateboard down the street when a male stopped his vehicle and began making threats towards him. The other person was contacted and both were told to cease contact with one another.

– A missing person was reported in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:01 p.m. Friday by a female who said she had not seen her son for a few hours and that was not like him. Upon gathering information, it was found that the juvenile had been sleeping in his bedroom.

– A man from the 500 block of West Pershing Street came to the police station at 6:38 p.m. Friday to file a menacing complaint. He said he had gone into a local business and one of the workers there made threats towards him.

– An officer was called to State Street and South Ellsworth Avenue at 6:31 p.m. Friday to clear debris from the roadway.

– An officer at 6:19 p.m. Friday saw a vehicle stopped in the road on East State Street near Vine Avenue and assisted the motorist with directions to their destination.

– A dispute was reported at 2:01 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Fourth Street. Both parties said it was just verbal over personal matters. There was no sign of violence and both agreed to stay away from each other.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

– An employee of the Methodist Church reported at 8:23 a.m. Thursday a Jeep was parked in the lot for three days and it appeared someone was sleeping in it. Police checked and told Casey and Heather Huffman to leave.

– An aggressive dog was reported in the area of Union and West Park Avenue at 2:17 p.m. Thursday. Police checked the area, but did not find the dog.

– Police noted high grass at 133 W. Park Ave. at 2:34 p.m. Thursday.

– Someone on Stanton Avenue reported at 5:18 p.m. Thursday a man was going door-to-door soliciting to make roof repairs. Police found Brett Prest, 44, Youngstown, and warned him about soliciting without a permit.

– At 6:39 p.m. Thursday police attempted to assist Boardman police searching for a woman from a West Salem Street home, who was reportedly involved in a hit skip accident in Boardman Township. They were unable to find her.

– A woman on Firestone Avenue reported at 6:56 p.m. Thursday her neighbors’ cats are coming over to her property and being destructive. Police spoke to the cats’ owner, who agreed to take care of the problem.

– A woman reported at 7:57 a.m. Friday the door at Family Video was unlocked, but the store was not supposed to be open until noon.

– Crystal Boggs, Fairfield Avenue, Columbiana, reported at 9:39 a.m. Friday she found a needle in her yard and wanted police to come pick it up.

– Kim Gamble, Columbiana, reported at 11:40 a.m. Friday the door was open at Family Video and she had walked right in, but no one was there.

– Philip Mastronardi, Columbiana, reported at 12:19 p.m. Friday he had previously left items on consignment at Kimpel’s and they were not returned.

– The manager of Family Video reported at 12:21 p.m. Friday she arrived at work and the cash was missing from the cash box.

– A fire alarm at Universal Percussion at 1:30 p.m. Friday was determined to be someone testing the sprinkler system.

– Michelle Moraski, Columbiana, reported at 2:54 p.m. Friday her grandson was injured by another child while outside playing on Thursday and she was not certain of what to do about it.

– A possible crash was reported near the McDonald’s entrance on Main Street at 3:57 p.m. Friday, but both drivers left before police arrived.

– James E. Miller, North Vine Street, reported at 4:28 p.m. Friday he was being harassed by someone he knows. He was asked to leave the home, where he has been staying, by Kurt Jennings.

– Police were called to an argument on Fitzpatrick Street at 7:03 p.m. Friday.

-A man reported six to eight children playing baseball in the street on West Salem Street near Main Street at 7:51 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area, but found no children in the street.

– Police responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 5:37 p.m. Thursday where a resident reported someone had entered her vehicle and removed several items. She said another vehicle had also been entered, but nothing taken.

– An officer responded to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 7:16 p.m. Thursday to recover a hypodermic needle found in a yard.

– Officers responded to a Lexington Avenue home at 7:27 p.m. Thursday in reference to a woman who may have taken too much medication, but found that she had already left upon arrival.

– An officer responded to the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 7:42 p.m. Thursday for a report of neighbors arguing in the roadway. They were separated and sent their own ways.

– Officers responded to an 800 block East Third Street home at 8:31 p.m. Thursday where the resident reported someone had entered his unlocked vehicle, although nothing appeared to be missing.

– Michael A.J. Boggs, 25, 2200 Goshen Road, Salem, was charged with theft allegedly attempting to steal $4.25 worth of merchandise from a 200 block West State Street business.

– Police responded to the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 8:35 p.m. Thursday in reference to a 2-year-old boy suffering seizures and not breathing. Medical personnel were able to get him breathing again, and transported him to the hospital.

– Officers responded to a report of a black vehicle in the wooded area of Cunningham Road and Bentley Drive at 9:38 p.m. Thursday, but were unable to find it.

– Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Fourth Street at 2:36 a.m. Friday where a resident reported a prowler banging on her doors and asking to be let in due to the rain. The officers were unable to find anyone in the area.

– Police responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 9:08 a.m. Friday in reference to an uncooperative man suffering a medical issue. Medical personnel arrived and ultimately transported him to the hospital.

– A Leetonia resident reported at 9:49 a.m. Friday that the mother of her son’s child had repeatedly violated her protection order.

– A California resident reported at 12:30 p.m. Friday that his mother had called upset that a circus was being set up at the Salem Community Center next to her residence and she was afraid someone was going to break into her home. An officer contacted the woman who said she was not afraid, but angry. She was assured that an officer would be in the area during the circus’ duration.

– A Stewart Road resident reported at 12:33 p.m. Friday that his daughter’s mother had shown up at her preschool graduation ceremony in Centennial Park that day and caused a scene. The mother arrived at station and claimed that the father was the one making a scene. The matter was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

– Police performed a welfare check of an elderly man that had just been released from the hospital after a relative reported she could not get hold of him at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday. The man was found mowing his grass.

– Brian Bloor, 41, East Liverpool, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday.

– Police responded to a Prospect Street apartment at 4:24 p.m. Thursday in reference to a loud verbal argument. Those involved said no violence had occurred and one of them gathered his belongings to leave.

– Police responded to a Prospect Street apartment complex at 7:40 p.m. Thursday in reference to a possible assault between two juveniles. The officer found the juveniles had been playing football and one of them had been accidentally struck in face by the ball.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– An officer responded to the area of Beaver Creek and Pine Lake roads at 2:03 p.m. Thursday in reference to a lost horse. The officer spoke with the complainant walking along Beaver Creek Road who said the horse had run away. The officer said he would continue to look out for the animal.

– An officer responded to the area of Beaver Creek and Roller roads at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was found to be okay and the incident was turned over to the highway patrol.

– An officer responded to the Beloit Ruritan Park at 7:01 p.m. Thursday in reference to a domestic dispute in a gray truck parked there. The officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle while approaching the park and determined the occupants to be those involved in the incident. They said they were just arguing and no physical violence occurred.

SALEM

– A woman in the 200 block of East Sixth Street reported at 2:48 p.m. Thursday that her car was parked on the street overnight and illegally entered. Someone went through the center console and glove box. Nothing appeared to be missing.

– A woman from the 400 block of East Euclid came to the police station at 2:39 p.m. Thursday to report that a man who used to live at the residence moved out three days ago and she had not seen him, then on Thursday, she believed he entered the residence and removed her dog from the cage inside while she was gone. The male called the department and said he knew nothing about the dog. She was very upset and irate over the situation. She was advised to call her landlord and she didn’t want the man staying there anymore.

– A caller at 1:13 p.m. Thursday reported an ongoing problem with vehicles parking on the road blocking driveways on Bank Street. A ticket was issued for a black SUV parked less than 5 feet from a driveway. The vehicle was later moved.

– A woman reported at 1:02 p.m. Thursday that she and her boyfriend were involved in an argument in the city when he pushed her. Another female on the scene said the same and that he also pushed her when she confronted him. No visible injuries were observed.

– A caller in the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 9:44 a.m. Thursday reported two dogs running at large. She was concerned over her own smaller outdoor pet and the dogs getting hit by a car. An officer located the owner a few doors down and explained the complaint and the city ordinance related to dogs at large.

– Officers responded at 4:23 a.m. Thursday to a parking lot in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue for a report of a male and female arguing. They were not found.

– Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of East State Street at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of a person who resides there. Contact was attempted, but no one answered the door.

– Police responded at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday to recover property found in a residence in the 400 block of Aetna Street. Items included two mini water speakers, various tools and drug paraphernalia. All the items were logged into evidence, with officers disposing of the drug paraphernalia.

– A caller at 9:06 p.m. Wednesday reported a possible juvenile sitting near the road wearing dark clothes in the area of Summit Street and Cedar Ridge, with the caller noting he nearly struck the person with his vehicle. Officers checked the area and found the person walking on Franklin Avenue. He said he was fine and had been taking a short break from walking. He said he would stay away from the curb area.

– Police returned at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday to a West Wilson Street residence in the 600 block for an intoxicated female in a verbal dispute with her sister. Officers had already been to the residence earlier and warned the intoxicated female to cease being disorderly or she would be arrested. She had been using profane language outside in the presence of two adults and several children which could be heard by neighbors. She fled the area and police were unable to find her. Police had been there at 8:23 p.m. for a domestic dispute when the intoxicated sister was warned about her disorderly conduct.

– An unruly juvenile was reported at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Aetna Street where a man reported his son and his friend had run away with intentions of going to Virginia. He filled out a missing person/runaway report.

– A bank card and grocery store card found in a parking lot of a local business were turned over to police at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday. The owner was contacted and picked them up.

– Police were called at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday to Faith Chapel church off of Pershing Street for a reckless operator. A woman said the vehicle was being driven erratically in the parking lot and almost hit her. The person driving the vehicle said he wasn’t intentionally trying to hit her.

– A juvenile at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday reported seeing smoke in the 400 block of Ash Street and thought there was a fire at a neighbor’s house. Officers checked the area and found the neighbor had a legal bon fire.

– A dispute involving several people was reported at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue. A resident was yelling at his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend who was picking up his child for visitation. He left after taking the child and the male resident continued to express his displeasure with the girlfriend allowing the child’s father to take the child. He told her she could take her things and leave but police told him he would have to evict her since she had been living there. They were told to stay away from each other if they couldn’t get along. He intended to go elsewhere for the night.

– Police were asked at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of a male resident in the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue. The woman said they had children and he was keeping the children from her and was threatening to set himself on fire. Officers spoke with the male who advised he was not going to harm himself and that the female made up the information.

– Excessive smoke was reported at 5:56 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue where a man was found burning freshly cut brush with green leaves. The fire department also responded and the man was advised of the ordinance prohibiting the burning of brush and unseasoned wood. He put out the fire.

– A possible scam was reported at 4:43 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Fair Avenue where a woman said a person with a foreign accent claiming to be an IRS agent called her saying she must make a payment in the form of iTunes gift cards or she would be arrested. The male suspect called back numerous times and the victim purchased numerous iTunes cards and provided the card numbes to the caller. Officers documented the information. Police advised that anyone dealing with a suspicious tax fraud activity should visit the IRS website and click on the link for Tax Fraud and Abuse, then follow the on-screen instructions.

– A theft was reported from a vehicle at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East State Street. The victim said two cameras were stolen from his vehicle which was parked behind the business where he works. There was no sign of forced entry. The equipment stolen was valued at $5,000.

– Police at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday were dispatched to a neighbor dispute on Rose Avenue. Residents in one apartment said someone told them not to park where they were and not to litter. They denied the littering and were legally parked. The officer was unable to find the person who called.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

– Police were asked at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday to check on a report of a downed tree on Egypt Road north of state Route 14, but found none after checking Egypt from Route 14 to Pine Lake Road.

– A gold Grand Am was reported being driven erratically through the neighborhood multiple times in the area of Old Coach Lane and Hearthside Drive at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday, but the vehicle was not found.

– Thomas Macolino, of state Route 164, Lisbon, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 4 p.m. Tuesday on South Lincoln Avenue south of the township line. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was picked up by family member.

– A Duck Creek Road resident reported at 9:29 a.m. Tuesday that he was assaulted while at a business on North Ellsworth Avenue while checking on the status of his vehicle that was being worked on. He said all he wants is his vehicle back and that the owner of the body shop refuses to release the vehicle. He was advised to contact a lawyer and seek a civil course against the business. He didn’t want to file charges at this time.

– Tara Hamilton, of West South Range Road, reported at 7:31 a.m. Tuesday that she struck a deer while northbound on U.S. Route 62/state Route 45. The crash caused moderate damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Lisbon

– Diana L. Thompson, 55, Eagleton Road, Lisbon, was westbound on East Chestnut Street at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday and struck Christina M. Howells-McGath, 45, Woodville Road, Leetonia, who was southbound on North Jefferson Street. Thompson was cited for right of way and Howells-McGath was taken by ambulance to the SRMC with possible injuries.

– Stevie Halverstadt, South Vine Street, reported at 12:26 p.m. Wednesday someone called her claiming to be from the IRS and saying she owed $11,000 and that she would be arrested if they did not cooperate. Halverstadt told police she gave them her birth date and Social Security number. Police told her that IRS does not call people or threaten arrest and that she should keep an eye on her credit card activity.

– Brenda Austin of the county dog warden’s office requested at 12:48 p.m. Wednesday police accompany her to 518 E. Chestnut St. in reference to a dog locked in an abandoned house. Austin told police that a neighbor reported a puppy was running around inside and a dog was locked in the upstairs bathroom, and that no one had been around the house since last week when the grass was mowed. Austin also told police that she was able to get the puppy once it escaped the house and that she was also able to get inside after knocking on the door and finding it open and that once inside she found garbage and dog feces everywhere and a dog in the upstairs bathroom with no food or water.

– At 3:14 p.m. Tuesday police warned the owners of two vehicles parked in a no parking area on Chestnut Street to move the vehicles or they would be cited.

Columbiana

– Rachel Krosky, North Elm Street, reported at 8:21 a.m. Wednesday someone set live traps on a vacant lot and a possum and its baby have been inside the trap for two days and she doesn’t know who set the traps since the property owner said he didn’t set the traps. Police contacted a Firestone Avenue resident and learned the traps were placed by a hired pest control company to catch, relocate and release a ground hog. The resident was advised to notify the company and place traps only on their property and release the captured animal.

– Dean Bowman of Columbiana, address not listed, reported at 11:47 a.m. Wednesday he received a call from a man who identified himself as John Watts and claimed to be a public defender and was saying that Bowman’s daughter had been involved in a crash and was found to be intoxicated and the man claimed to need $2,900 wired so she could be released. Bowman told police the man later called back asking about the status of the wire transfer and when he told the man he had contacted police, the man hung up.

– The Dollar General manager reported at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday an elderly male customer said he was told by someone over the phone to buy $500 in credit cards, which the store refused to do, believing the man was being scammed.

– Kari Forney of Leetonia was stopped in traffic facing westbound on state Route 14 at the Dunkin Donuts parking lot entrance at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday and Terry Hoffman of East Palestine struck her vehicle from behind. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

– Police received a high grass complaint for 257 Brenda Lane at 1:59 p.m. Wednesday. High grass was also reported on Fitzpatrick Avenue along the Youngstown and Southern Railroad tracks.

– At 4:57 p.m. Wednesday police checked on a report of items that were pawned at Cash Land that had possibly been stolen.

– A Dairy Queen employee reported at 8:13 p.m. Wednesday ketchup bottles were exploding at random the last few days and believed they had been tampered with.

– Emily K. Guarnieri, 43, Boardman, was southbound on state Route 7 at 7:19 a.m. Tuesday and Elizabeth A. Conkle, 58, Clarkson Road, Rogers, was northbound and made a left turn into the path of Guarnieri’s vehicle. Conkle was cited for failure to yield.

– Jessie L. Wallace, 28, Columbus, was preparing to turn east on West Salem Street at 10:58 a.m. Monday and was struck by Paul E. Wilson Jr., 53, Girard, who was attempting to turn south on North Pearl Street. Wilson was cited for improper turning.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– A caller at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday reported seeing a 13- to 14-year-old boy in a yard in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue with his pants down to the ground and his shirt pulled all the way up. He was described with dark hair that was kind of long. Police did not locate the boy.

– Police were called at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday to check the well-being of a woman on East Seventh Street. They were told she doesn’t reside there and then checked a Maple Street property but no one answered the door.

– Police made two arrests during a search for people with warrants at a residence in the 200 block of Park Avenue at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday. Officers had credible information that people were inside the apartment, but they refused to answer the door. Officers entered the apartment and located a female who said no one else was there and gave permission to have the home searched. A sheriff’s deputy checked under a large pile of clothing in a closet and found a male hiding. Luke Worden, 35, of 252 Park Ave., was taken into custody for the warrant and also charged with obstructing official business. The female, Shantel Temple, 27, also of 252 Park Ave., was also charged with obstructing official business after admitting he told her to lie.

– A domestic was reported at 12:46 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Washington Avenue where police met a woman and her live-in boyfriend. She said her estranged boyfriend held her overnight and made her get rid of her 9-year-old son that was visiting her and when she tried to leave, he wouldn’t let her. The estranged boyfriend said she tried to hit him with a broken off leg from a small chair. A friend came to pick up the woman and the boyfriend said he would try to find another place to go. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review.

– Officers at 10:32 a.m. Wednesday met with two females who had questions regarding their elderly mother. They were given information regarding agencies to help them.

– A suspicious vehicle described as a black SUV with tinted windows was reported hanging around Quaker Lane at 7:51 a.m. Wednesday. Police located a possible vehicle parked at a residence with no problems observed. No other vehicles were found.

– A dog was reported barking continuously inside an apartment in the 500 block of Walnut Street at 12:31 a.m. Wednesday. An officer heard the dog, but couldn’t make contact with the tenant. A relative of the dog owner was contacted and was able to call the dog owner who was on his way home. The dog quieted down.

– Loud music was reported at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Franklin, but officers could hear no music or noise coming from any of the four apartments.

– A woman on Monroe Street reported at 11:48 p.m. Tuesday that she got into an argument with her boyfriend and he kicked her out of the apartment and took her keys, phone and glasses. She walked to the police station for assistance. She was taken back to the apartment and contact was made with the boyfriend. Both sides were told the eviction policy and her possessions were returned.

– An alarm was reported at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of East State Street. The building was secure.

– A disorderly person was reported at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Vine Avenue where a caller said a man was trying to break a car window. An officer responded and found all car windows intact and nobody outside. The man was located inside the residence and denied the complaint.

– Loud music was reported at 11:26 p.m. Tuesday on Franklin, but wasn’t heard.

– An intoxicated person was reported at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Vine Avenue. A person was found bleeding and voluntarily went to the hospital after EMT and fire department first responders came to the scene.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of West State Street where employees of a local business were leaving work and wanted an officer to drive through the area. Nothing suspicious was observed.

– Police responded at 7:44 p.m. Tuesday to the 1900 block of Monroe where a resident reported someone broke into their garage and stole several items.

– Police assisted Perry Township by responding to a juvenile complaint at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday. A woman said her 15-year-old son had not been listening to her and was disrespecting her. An officer spoke to the juvenile.

– Jakeace Felder, 21, of Austintown, was charged with driving under suspension and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday. His passenger, Chandler McKinney, 19, of Damascus, was also charged with possession of marijuana.

– A woman in the 100 block of West Fifth Street reported at 5:06 p.m. Tuesday that several items were stolen from her home. The case is under investigation.

– A caller at 4:56 p.m. Tuesday reported that a person didn’t have a dog on a leash in a public area on East Second Street. An officer made contact with the person, who put a leash on the dog.

– A resident in the 1900 block of Southeast Boulevard reported at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday that the front window to the residence was broken.

– Robert Hartman, of North Jackson, was cited for failure to maintain control after the southbound tractor trailer he was driving on Pennsylvania Avenue at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday struck a guardrail and slid down an embankment to a ditch. He had left Ventra and said a green Toyota came into his lane causing him to veer off the right side of the road. No injuries were reported.

– Jeffrey Muirhead, 33, of Butler Grange Road, was cited for a stop sign violation after his southbound vehicle at 9 p.m. Monday ran the stop sign at South Ellsworth Avenue and Wilson, striking the driver side of a vehicle driven by Walter Hendricks, 62, of Meadowwood Drive, who was turning northbound onto South Ellsworth from West Wilson Street. Hendricks was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by KLG for possible injuries.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Officers assisted the Damascus Fire Department on a medical call in the 12000 block of state Route 45 at 11:50 a.m. May 2.

– An officer responded to an unruly student at West Branch High School at noon May 2.

– An officer responded to a two-vehicle crash at U.S. Route 62 and state Route 534 at 4:03 p.m. May 3 and provided traffic control as the highway patrol investigated.

– An officer responded to the 7000 block of Cool Road at 6:20 p.m. May 3 in reference to a dog running loose, but found the dog on the correct property upon arrival.

– An officer responded to the Damascus Post Office at 7:01 p.m. May 3 where the shutter at the counter was open. The officer secured the shutter and exited through the rear door.

– An officer assisted Beloit first responders on a medical call at Sebring Lake Estates at 4 a.m. May 4.

– An officer responded to West Branch Middle School at 8:30 a.m. May 4 where the principal reported a student possibly in possession of marijuana, but a search of the student’s bag found nothing.

– An officer responded to the 10000 block of Duck Creek Road at 11:08 a.m. May 4 where a resident reported a donkey in her back yard. The animal was returned to the proper owner.

– An officer responded to the 7000 block of state Route 165 in reference to a possible identity theft at 3 p.m. May 4.

– An officer assisted Green Township first responders on a medical call in the 7000 block of Middletown Road at 9:08 a.m. May 5. The unresponsive victim was transported to the hospital.

– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 11000 block of U.S. Route 62 at 10:39 a.m. May 6 and found the doors and windows secure.

– An officer responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 and Knauf Road at 10:54 a.m. May 6 in reference to two dogs running loose in the roadway. Upon arrival, the officer found a few people holding the dogs, and a check of their collars provided contact information for the owners.

– An officer responded to the 13000 block of state Route 534 at 9:35 p.m. May 6 in reference to telephone harassment. Both individuals involved were told to stop contacting each other.

– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 10000 block of Lisbon Road at 9:38 a.m. May 7 and found everything to be okay.

– Officers responded to a 13000 block Calla Road home at 10:18 a.m. May 7 where the resident reported someone had entered his home and removed several items while he was away.

– An officer assisted the Green Township Fire Department at the scene of a structure fire on West Street near Egypt Road at 4:28 p.m. May 7.

– An officer responded to a report of a possible hit and skip crash along state Route 45 at 9:24 p.m. May 7. Upon the officer’s arrival to the area, a passerby waved him down and reported seeing a two-vehicle crash involving two light colored vehicles which then fled from the scene at a high rate of speed, as if one was chasing the other.

– An officer responded an alarm drop in the 11000 block of Calla Road at 10:35 p.m. May 7 and found the front door open, however the homeowner found all to be okay.

– An officer responded to a panic alarm in the 15000 block of Middletown Road at 5:44 a.m. Sunday, but found it to be a faulty system.

Lisbon

– A representative of the solid waste district reported Monday someone was throwing boxes of rotten produce into the recycling dumpsters off Lincole Place. They intend to pursue charges if the problem persists.

– A resident of Rose Drive reported Monday someone picked up her prescriptions for Percocet, Lyrica and Ativan at the Rite Aid without her knowledge or permission. She called back to say her son found them under the table while he was cleaning and they must have fallen from her purse.

Columbiana

– Police checked Pittsburgh Street near Elm Street after hearing a woman screaming in that area at 3:16 a.m. Tuesday but found no one.

– Colleen Felger, state Route 14, East Palestine, reported theft or fraud from Kimpel’s Jewelry at 9:33 a.m. Tuesday. Felger told police she gave a ring to William Kimpel and he was supposedly trying to sell it for her.

– David Gouldsberry, Maple Street, Lisbon, reported at 9:26 a.m. Tuesday someone dumped old carpeting in the dumpster he rented on South Main Street.

– John Tollas of Columbiana reported at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday a semi was disabled near the Dollar General and the driver was trying to direct traffic on his own. Police went to the area but there was no semi there.

– The Blue Waste Management reported at noon Tuesday a truck was disabled on state Route 14 near the top of the hill in a dangerous spot.

– The highway patrol reported at 12:28 p.m. Tuesday someone in a silver Chevy pickup truck was driving recklessly on state Route 14.

– Jessica Netzel, 35, East Palestine, was cited for driving under suspension during a traffic stop on East Park Avenue at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday. Police also discovered there was a warrant out for her arrest through the county sheriff’s office for failure to appear. There was also a warrant for her passenger, Tiffany McDevitt, 32, East Palestine, for a failure to appear on a driving under the influence charge. The county sheriff’s office was contacted and both were taken to the county jail.

– Timothy Tonkinson, 25, East Palestine, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 12:38 p.m. Tuesday.

– Jen Ciofi, North Bayshore Drive, reported at 5 p.m. Tuesday someone tried to get into the home.

– Laura Kyle, South Main Street, reported at 6:48 p.m. Tuesday she was being harassed on Facebook.

– Vince Pendergast, Fairfield Avenue, reported having issues with a neighbor at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

– Renee Stewart, Fairfield Avenue, reported at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday there was a neighbor dispute over a fence.

– Patty Ferarro, North Bayshore Drive, reported at 8:57 p.m. Tuesday someone tried to force open the windows of her home to get inside.

– Leetonia police requested assistance at 10:11 p.m. Tuesday with a man out of control at 252 Ridge Ave. in Leetonia.

– Curt Jennings, North Vine Street, reported at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday an 18-year-old boy he knows has his vehicle and would not return it. The truck was later returned.

POLICE reports

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– Derek Paul Martin, 22, League City, Texas, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash in Goshen Township at 11:05 a.m. Saturday in which he was eastbound on state Route 165 and pulled from the stop sign at state Route 14, striking a southbound vehicle driven by Dale Richard Gorby, 73, Columbiana. No injuries were reported.

– Elizabeth Anne Makin, 16, Alliance, was cited for driving under suspension and left of center following a traffic stop on state Route 165 near Stratton Road at 7:31 p.m. Saturday.

– Thomas F. Hiznay Jr., 26, Columbiana, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in the 5000 block of state Route 165 in Green Township at 7 a.m. Tuesday in which he was westbound and traveled across the center line, into a yard, back onto the roadway and finally spinning into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. No injuries were reported.

– Brianne Lynn Black, 33, Beloit, was cited for improper starting and backing following a two-vehicle crash in the 14000 block of South Main Street in Beloit at 8:11 a.m. Tuesday in which she attempted to back out of her drive and struck a northbound vehicle driven by Stephen L. Jones, 60, Salem. No injuries were reported.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

– An officer at 7:53 p.m. Monday spoke with a Prospect Street resident about a civil matter. She wanted to transfer the title to her vehicle to an ex-significant other. She was told to contact the title department.

– A woman in the 1300 block of West State Street reported at 5:12 p.m. Monday that a neighbor’s dog was in her yard and attempted to attack her dog. She was told to contact the dog warden.

– Police responded at 4:14 p.m. Monday to the 600 block of West Pidgeon Road for a report of broken beer bottles in a woman’s yard. She was concerned that an ex-significant other was responsible. She was told to call police if she hears or sees anything suspicious.

– Police were called at 9:24 a.m. Monday for a male being verbally abusive towards customers and workers at Pop Jackson’s restaurant at 280 Benton Road. Police spoke with the male who appeared to be expressing what he believed was his First Amendment rights and that using a curse word towards the customers and help was his right. He was told the business no longer wanted him to be a customer and that he needed to leave. Officers escorted him off the property and told him not to return.

– A woman on Prospect Street called at 7:03 a.m. Monday regarding phone harassment from her mother-in-law who lives in Parma. She said the mother-in-law has made threats to cause problems with her and her family. She wanted a report made in case she shows up at the residence.

SALEM

– An officer on patrol at 5:44 a.m. Tuesday noticed a vehicle with the trunk open in the 1800 block of East Third Street. Contact was made with the owner and the vehicle was secured.

– A fight in progress was reported at 10:41 p.m. Monday on East Third Street and Rose Avenue, but officers were unable to find any type of disturbance.

– Police responded at 7:04 p.m. Monday to the 400 block of East Euclid Street for a dispute. A man said he’s a resident of the home and the woman was trying to throw him out. Both parties were told it’s a civil matter and she can’t throw him out without proper documentation. He said he would go somewhere else for the night.

– A dispute was reported at 5:50 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of East Third Street with no threats or violence. Both parties were told to cease contact with each other and stay in separate rooms of the residence.

– Rory Leider, of the 1200 block of East Third Street, reported at 4:48 p.m. Monday that his 2002 Ford Escape was legally parked on the street when it was struck by another vehicle which fled the area. The left rear bumper was damaged.

– A man in the 900 block of East Third Street spoke with an officer at 4:47 p.m. Monday regarding a possible criminal matter. The information will be forwarded to the appropriate agency for followup.

– A caller at 3:35 p.m. Monday reported four male juveniles were in the duck pond area at Waterworth Memorial Park attempting to hurt the ducks. The juveniles couldn’t be located.

– A woman in the 400 block of Washington Avenue reported at 3:03 p.m. Monday that her cat was missing and she believed the female next door took the cat. Officers attempted, but could not make contact with the neighbor. The woman was told her options.

– A man in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue reported at 1:42 p.m. Monday that he was having problems with his Internet service and had been in contact with the company to resolve the problem. On Sunday night, he received a call from a male claiming to be from the company who said he would clear up 62,000 infected files on his computer. The foreign male then took control of his computer for about 40 minutes to clean it and install a software program called Secure Firewall Protection. After the transaction was completed for $49.99, he received a call from another company which advised the male attempted to charge twice for the fee. He went to the bank in the morning and cancelled his debit card. He was told to keep checking his credit report.

– Dennis Kleinman, 55, of West Fifth Street, Beloit, was cited for assured clear distance after allegedly causing a four-car chain reaction accident in the 1400 block of East State Street at 3:09 p.m. Friday. According to the report, Kleinman’s westbound vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Cristine Adams, 50, of Franklin Avenue, who was stopped for traffic and ended up hitting the rear of a vehicle driven by Jennifer Starcher, 29, of Andrew Avenue, also stopped for traffic, who then struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Tonya Rupert, 42, of Liberty Street. Starcher and a passenger in the Adams vehicle, 76-year-old Patricia Crowl, of Franklin Avenue, were each taken by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center for possible injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Columbiana

– A C. Tucker Cope employee reported at noon Monday kids were trespassing in the fenced-in area of the property on Pittsburgh Street over the weekend.

– A Lakeview Drive woman reported at 1:49 p.m. Monday she was harassed through the mail and believed it was her soon to be ex-husband’s girlfriend.

Lisbon

– Richard R. Vecchio, 53, state Route 164, was charged with public intoxication and having an open container of alcohol in public while walking on Maple Street at 12:29 a.m. Tuesday.

SALEM

– A woman in the 300 block of East Fourth Street reported at 12:16 p.m. Monday that she had been living with her boyfriend the past six months, but he moved out last week and now she’s receiving harassing text messages from him and he became physical with her, bruising her arm. She was given advice on seeking a restraining order.

– Officers responded at 9:31 a.m. Monday to a restaurant in the 1000 block of Benton Road at the request of Perry Township Police for an unknown disturbance, learning a man was being verbally disruptive by using foul language towards the restaurant employees. The employees wanted him removed from the business. Perry Township Police told him to leave and not return.

– Peter Penick III, 28, of 483 Mullins St., was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant after police investigated smoke in the 400 block of Mullins Street at 10:47 p.m. Sunday. Officers discovered multiple individuals having a bonfire on the property and found the warrant for Penick while checking on them. Penick was picked up by a sheriff’s deputy for transport to the Columbiana County jail.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 8:10 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of West State Street, possibly involved in a drug deal. The caller called back and said the vehicle left the city westbound. The complaint was forwarded to Perry Township Police.

– A fight was reported at 6:05 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Aetna Street and an officer spoke with two people involved and saw no injuries. They were advised to stay away from each other.

– Police were called at 5:10 p.m. Sunday to Walmart for a well-being check after a man reported seeing a person wearing a pink dress shirt drinking a pop who appeared to be confused. Officers spoke with an employee who said the person was escorted from the store by what appeared to be a friend.

– A fight was reported at 4:22 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue. The caller and another witness verified the address where the people were located. Officers made contact with the two people matching the descriptions at the front of the residence. No physical violence occurred and both were warned for disorderly conduct. They were told they would be charged if the behavior persists.

– A child custody dispute was reported at 4:14 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Cherry Street where a woman from East Liverpool said her ex was refusing to give her their children. Officers spoke with the ex and found that no visitation had been established. They were told a court would need petitioned to establish visitation since they were never married. He said he would contact an attorney. The woman left with the children.

– An alarm was reported at 4:02 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Quaker Court, but the building was secure.

– Recovered property in the 600 block of Deming Street at 1:50 p.m. Sunday was determined to be stolen and returned to the property owner.

– An unattended child was reported in the street at 1:20 p.m. Sunday in the area of West School Street and East Fourth Street. Officers located the child in the street with the caller standing by, then attempted to find the child’s address, locating it in the 300 block of East Third Street. The parent was contacted and recovered the child and was advised Children Services would receive the report for review.

– A neighbor dispute was reported at 12:24 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue, where the people were previously involved in another report. A woman said the other person had left and was making harassing statements. The people were told the officer handling the previous report would speak to them about the property. All parties were told to stay away from each other.

– A resident in the 500 block of Prospect Street reported at 12:21 p.m. Sunday that someone took three trailer straps from his trailer behind his residence.

– A man on Jennings Avenue reported at 10:26 a.m. Sunday that his vehicle was parked at a business in the 600 block of Columbia Street when it was struck in the rear by an unknown vehicle.

Columbiana

– Police assisted Leetonia with a traffic stop on State Street near Madison Street at 12:53 a.m. Sunday.

– Rebekah Perry, no address listed, reported at 3 p.m. Sunday people were using marijuana on Union Street. Police cited Christian Gillespie, 18, Columbiana, Logan Stilson, 19, Columbiana, and Alec Dingler, 18, Sherrodsville, for possession of marijuana.

– Someone anonymously reported at 7:18 p.m. Sunday kids were playing on the railroad tracks on Metz Road near the ballfield. Police checked and found no one on the tracks and also spoke with someone mowing there, who said they didn’t see anyone on the tracks either.

– A Rite Aid employee reported theft at 7:18 p.m. Sunday. No other details were available.

– Police attempted to find the owner of a dog running loose in the area of Pershing and Quincy streets at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. The owner could not be found and the dog ran away.

– A woman reported at 9 p.m. Sunday four kids, two on bicycles and two walking, were running across South Main Street in front of traffic. Police checked but did not see the children.

– Ryan Bevington, 39, Columbiana, was arrested on an active warrant through the county sheriff’s office at 11:35 p.m. Sunday at the police station.

Lisbon

– Kathryn K. Scarbino, 38, of Wattsburg, Pa., was cited for speeding -55 mph in 35 mph zone – on state Route 153 at Bluff Street at 1:08 p.m. Sunday.

-Clayton W. Elliott, 18, Torma Road, Lisbon, was cited for speeding – 50 mph in a 35 mph zone – on Route 154 at Bluff Street at 11:35 a.m. Sunday.

-Derrick V. Martin, 37, Aetna Street, Salem, was cited for speeding -40 mph in a 25 mph zone – on West Lincoln Way at 7:41 a.m. Sunday.

-Drake M. Walton, 23, of Sebring, was cited for speeding – 40 mph in a 25 mph zone -on West Lincoln Way at 7:38 a.m. Saturday.

-Gary T. Frampton, 53, Leslie Road, Lisbon, was cited for failure to control after he struck a parked vehicle while driving on East Chestnut Street at 3:39 p.m. Saturday.

-Danielle Burbick, 29, Roller Coaster Road, Lisbon, was cited for running a stop sign on North Market Street at 2:16 a.m. Saturday.

-A janitor at the high school called at 7:27 p.m. Sunday to report there was a broken cafeteria window facing West High Street. Superintendent Joe Siefke and police searched the building and then drove around the school but there was no other damage.

-A caller reported someone was riding an ATV on East Lincoln Way at 5:37 p.m. Sunday. Police caught up with the rider, who said he was just testing out the SUV and would not be riding it.

-A shed at the Church of Nazarene was found broken into at 10 a.m. Saturday by Greg Rugado, who was there to mow. He said a number of items were missing.

– Don Wolf, who is in charge of the group home for male youths on East Washington Street, reported at 9:22 p.m. Friday that a female friend of a male resident Jake Terry had thrown a skateboard through a window. Police were unable to locate the girl, who is believed to be from East Rochester, Pa. Wolf said he would not pursue charges if she paid for the damage.

-Police received a call at 4:24 p.m. Friday that a man was threatening to jump from a bridge in town, so the officer went to the Canton Hill bridge but no one was there. Then he determined and the man was the at the bridge next to Pondi’s restaurant. The man said he no longer wanted to jump but wanted help. He had been thrown out of his mother’s home in East Liverpool and walked to Lisbon searching for his uncle only to discover his uncle had moved. The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

PERRY TOWNSHIP

– A caller at 8:13 p.m. Sunday reported a possible witnessed drug deal. It was determined the incident occurred in the city of Salem and Salem Police were made aware.

– A resident on Painter Road reported hearing gunshots coming from the 1500 block of Egypt Road at 5:31 p.m. Saturday. An officer spoke with a resident who was target shooting with a proper backstop.

– A resident in the 1800 block of Countryside Drive reported a case of fraud at 4:53 p.m. Saturday, saying she was made aware of a government grant to receive $85,000 and gave out her credit card information, but then had the card cancelled after realizing it was a fraud.

– Wildie Hillman, 27, of Alliance, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and passing in a no passing zone after a traffic stop at 12:46 a.m. Saturday on West State Street at the township limits.

– A possible impaired driver was reported in a dark SUV driving from Benton Road possibly to the four-lane highway at 11 p.m. Friday, but the vehicle was not found.

– Police were advised at 8:53 p.m. Friday about a juvenile female walking towards Salem on Goshen Road crossing the bypass wearing all dark clothing and no shoes. Another person said they asked the female if she was alright and she said she did not know where she was and continued walking into Salem. Officers from both Salem and Perry Township checked the area, with the juvenile located in the city limits. She refused to cooperate with officers’ requests and attempted to run away. After being detained by Salem officers, she refused to identify herself and attempted to escape detention but was then handcuffed and placed in a Salem cruiser. Sharon Lynn Group Home reported a female juvenile missing and was responding to identify her at the Salem Police Department.

SALEM REPORTS

– Police responded to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 9:14 p.m. where the complainant advised her car muffler was stolen. An officer documented the information and obtained an insurance policy number. The incident is under investigation.

– At 7:40 p.m. Saturday police responded to the 900 block of S. Union Avenue when a caller was concerned about an adult man operating a toy pocket bike with a 9-year-old child on the sidewalk. The rider was advised it was permissible on the sidewalk other than in downtown but not to ride halfway across the city and crossing intersections. He was advised to keep the bike around where he resides and it was recommended the passengers be equipped with a helmet.

– At 6:35 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1100 block of E. 3rd Street where a parent advised a suspicious person was harassing others on E. 3rd Street and Rose Avenue Information was gathered and the complainant was advised to contact the police when it was occurring.

– At 6:12 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2800 block of E. State Street where a woman ran across E. State Street and was located in a parking lot in the 200 block of Cunningham Road after leaving Walmart without paying for $216.67 in merchandise that was on her person and in her purse. Jennifer L. Seachrist, 575 W. 5th Street, Salem, was charged with theft and taken to the county jail.

– Police responded to a reckless operation complaint at 5:13 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised a vehicle failed to stop for several stop signs on E. Pershing Street extension and provided a registration number. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

– Police responded to the 500 block of E. Pershing Street at 4:49 p.m. Saturday for a medical call for a person said to be falling asleep at the Fun Factory.

– Police responded to the Carbon Street and S. Lincoln Avenue area at 3:25 p.m. Saturday to check on a possible sick raccoon but were unable to locate it.

Police responded to the 700 block of W. State Street at 3:51 p.m. Friday for a two-vehicle accident after the vehicle operated by Constance Freeman, 1360 state Route 14, Salem, that was eastbound attempted to turn left into a business and crossed into the path of the westbound vehicle operated by Robert Predergast, 18598 Courtney Road, Beloit. A passenger in Predergast’s vehicle, Carol Predergast, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Freeman was charged with failure to yield and driving under suspension. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

At 5:56 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1000 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue where the complainant advised the driver’s side window was broken out. Police documented the information.

At 4:56 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 100 block of W. 4th Street where a person was making threats and was located in the 300 block of W. 4th Street, intoxicated and with a visible bleeding injury to the face. First responders and an ambulance responded to assess the injuries. The person was placed in handcuffs for his own safety as he continued striking his head and face causing further injury and was taken to the hospital. While en route an officer had to assist ambulance personnel after he started striking his head off the inside of the ambulance and police assisted in getting him into a bed.

Police responded to the 200 block of W. 14th Street at 4:27 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised of a violation of a protective order. Police spoke to the other person who said she was there to pick up a child for a court-ordered visitation. Police obtained a copy of the order and explained it to the complainant.

Police made a traffic stop in the 400 block of S. Lundy Avenue at 8:19 p.m. Friday. Chad Pahanish, 5056 Whinnery Road, was charged with failure to reinstate his driver’s license, possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia after a vehicle search. Additional contraband was located.

Police responded to the 1300 block of Jennings Avenue at 9:02 p.m. Friday for a report of a female juvenile walking in the area with no shoes and acting suspiciously. She was located and while police attempted to identify her she became combative and took off running. She was stopped but continued to fight with police. She was a runaway from the Village Network Home in Mahoning County. A person from that location responded and she was released to them.

Police responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Drive at 10:24 p.m. Friday after a male pizza delivery driver said he was confronted by a man who was upset that he parked in the subject’s space. He advised that the man got in front of his vehicle. He locked the doors. The person approached and tried getting in the driver’s side door yelling obscenities and wanting to fight. Police were unable to locate the suspect. The incident is under investigation.

At 11:49 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 200 block of E. 3rd Street for a possible breaking and entering sometime in the afternoon after someone broke the complainant’s front door. The door frame and lock were broken. Photos were taken. The complainant said nothing appeared to be missing.

Police responded to the 800 block of Summit Street at 6:23 a.m. Saturday for a report of a barking dog. The owner agreed to bring it inside.

At 6:22 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of Southeast Boulevard where the complainant said their mailbox was vandalized overnight. Police also noticed the neighbor’s mailbox was damaged. Photos were taken.

At 6:13 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Drive for a loud noise complaint. The resident said he fell asleep with the television on and turned it down.

Police responded to the 200 block of E. Third Street at 2:12 a.m. Saturday where a man advised his female roommate wouldn’t let him in. Another call from the female advised the male kicked a window in to the residence. An officer spoke with the female advising her he didn’t do anything wrong since he resided there. They were advised to stay away from each other for the night.

At 1:09 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the U.S. 62 and Country Club to assist Perry Township police with an alcohol-related traffic stop and with running a breath test on an OVI suspect.

Police responded to the 1100 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue at 2:34 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised an unwanted family member refused to leave her residence. Police spoke to the person and she agreed to leave.

At 8:47 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1000 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue where a tree branch way lying across what appeared to be an electric line to the residence and blocked the driveway. The complainant still had electric power and cable service. The neighbor has access to leave by another route until the area was fixed later.

At 9:19 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1400 block of S. Lincoln Avenue where the complainant advised a mailbox was stolen during the evening hours.

Police responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street for a medical call where the person was having trouble breathing and was taken to the hospital.

Police responded to the 500 block of N. Ellsworth Avenue at 3 p.m. Friday where a female caller was suicidal, confused and having emotional problems. She was taken to the hospital.

-A caller reported there was a dog locked in a vehicle with no windows down in the Dollar General parking lot at 10:48 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle was gone by the time police arrived.

-Austin Bolen, 21, of New Waterford, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 46 at 11:52 a.m. Saturday.

-A high-grass warning was issued Saturday to a resident at 203 W. Park Ave., and she said she would see that the lawn was mowed.

-A report on a high-grass complaint was started Saturday for 22 N. Pearl St.

-Valerie Dattilio, North Vine Street, reported Saturday someone dropped off keys and a note in her mail box, and Dattilio believes the person responsible was someone against whom she has a protection order.

-Shirley Donnalley of Salem was cited for failure to control after she struck a house while driving on West Salem Street at 5:34 p.m. Saturday.

– A caller reported hearing gunshots in the area of Royal Birkdale at 10:08 p.m. Saturday. Police checked the area and think the sound of thunder.

LISBON REPORTS

– Amy Beery, Rose Drive apartments, reported Friday her phone may have fallen from her purse while at the county Department of Job and Family Services, but no one there said a phone had been returned. Beery then called her phone and someone pick up before hanging up quickly. She was told to check if the JFS had security cameras that had could be reviewed to determine if someone picked up her phone.

-A woman who lives on North Market Street reported her 17-year-old son had run away at 9:36 a.m. Friday.

-A caller from Apple Grove apartments reported there was an unwanted man in the bedroom at 9 p.m. Thursday. Police arrived but man was not there.

-Village parks manager Dana Blackburn reported Thursday the inside wall of the park pavilion on Cedar Street was covered in mud, the light bulbs were broken out of the sockets, the electric lines were pulled from the ceiling, and stones were strewn about the tables and pads. Police discussed the matter with a juvenile reported playing in the pavilion, and Blackburn will speak to the boy’s father.

-While parked at the car wash on North Market Street at 12:43 a.m. Thursday, police were approached by two people who said a man was walking by the Valley View convenience store and he appeared to be intoxicated and was yelling obscenities and threatening to them. Police located Eli J. Ruffner, 34, Union Ridge Road, Negley, and charged him with disorderly conduct/public intoxication.

-A vehicle driven by Kathy Spooner, Prichard Avenue struck a vehicle belonging to Arden Montgomery, Kingsridge Road, East Liverpool, in the Valley View parking lot at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday.

– A school bus driver asked police to check on the welfare of a Saltwell Road resident at 4:52 p.m. Wednesday after a 7-year-old child was going to be dropped off but no one appeared to be home. By the time police arrived, the child’s grandmother was there and said she found the father sleeping inside. The father told police the mother was supposed to be there.

COLUMBIANA REPORTS

-Briann Stein, state Route 14, reported at noon Thursday some people were cutting up a tree they had taken down in their yard and were taking the wood without permission. Police advised this is a civil dispute.

-Police were called to the Sunoco station at 5:26 p.m. Thursday to supervise a child custody exchange because there had been problems before, but there were no problems this time.

– Police responded to a domestic dispute on Fairfield Avenue at 9:46 p.m., where Terry Kitchen and Sam Fleeson were reportedly fighting in the street over a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that Kitchen made and threw away. Kitchen left for the night, but Fleeson called at 6 a.m. Friday to say he believes Kitchen was trying to break into the house after he heard a loud noise. Jenny Fleeson then called at 10:09 a.m. Friday to say Kitchen, who is her son, was coming to gather his belongings, so police stood by until he was finished.

-Delores Thompson of Masury called police Friday about filing fraud/theft charges over expensive jewelry she had taken to Kimpel’s for consignment.

-Margaret I. Stett of Hubbard called police Friday about fraud and theft over jewelry she had taken to Kimpel’s for consignment.

-Bryce Turney of Leetonia was stopped in traffic on state Route 14 at 2:38 p.m. Friday when his vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Grant McCauley of Youngstown. McCauley was behind Turney and ended up sideswiping Turney to avoid striking his vehicle in the rear.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– A complainant was on station at 10:49 a.m. Thursday advising she received harassing text messages at work from a man she didn’t know who wanted to become friends with her. An officer called the number and left a message for the man to call back but he didn’t. The complainant was advised to block the number from her phone.

– At 12:09 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the area of Cedar Drive for a vehicle that was operating in a reckless manner, but were unable to locate it.

– At 12:21 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the 200 block of East Sixth Street for a suspicious vehicle that was occupied and parked for nearly two hours. An officer spoke with a man in the driver’s seat and advised him of the complaint and he said they were just talking.

– At 12:40 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive where the complainant said she had a temporary protection order against her ex-boyfriend who was threatening to meet her at her residence when she got home. Police checked the area and were unable to locate him and the complainant provided a copy of the TPO.

– Police responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 4:15 a.m. Thursday for an assault report and arrested Jeffrey A. Mullins Jr., 840 W. Pershing St., #1, for obstructing official business. Upon arrival, police observed a man walk out the front door at Vine Avenue. He was detained to assure he wasn’t involved in the reported assault. He wasn’t involved but he refused multiple requests to identify himself and was arrested for obstructing official business. The complainant advised he was not the assailant and a second man threw a beer can at him striking him in the head. The complainant reported injury to his toe and first responders and an ambulance arrived and he was transported to the hospital. Police attempted to contact the second man at an apartment in the 200 block of Vine Avenue but were unable to. Mullins was transported to the county jail and additional charges are pending.

– Police responded to the 200 block of East Third Street at 6:43 a.m. Thursday where an abandoned vehicle without a registration and a flat tire was issued a junk vehicle notice to be towed if a registration was not displayed.

– At 11:17 p.m. Wednesday, police took Gary A. White, 348 W. 4th St., into custody in the 500 block of Walnut Street after police affirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Columbiana County. He was taken to the county jail.

– Police responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 5:32 p.m. Wednesday where the complainant advised children were trespassing in the backyard. The complainant was concerned they might get hurt climbing a tree. An officer spoke with the children and a parent who said she told them to stay out of the yard.

– At 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 2800 block of East State Street where a man purchased a 40-inch television set and tried to leave with a 55-inch television. He said he was picking it up for his brother when confronted by management. Management had him wait to confirm his story. The incident is under investigation.

– At 4:09 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to West Wilson Street for a report of pills on the ground and located approximately 42 capsules of medication scattered on the ground at an intersection. The pills were collected and discarded at the police station.

GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT

– An officer responded to an alarm drop in the 9000 block of Knauf Road at 2 a.m. April 25 where the homeowner confirmed all was okay.

– An officer responded to a medical call at an Oakwood Drive, Beloit, home at 11:47 a.m. April 25.

– A 15000 block state Route 165 resident filed a notice of restriction against her sister at 12:20 p.m. April 25.

– An officer responded to an Oak Street, Beloit, home at 1:25 p.m. April 25 for a welfare check, finding everything okay.

– An officer responded to a South Main Street, Beloit, home at 7:51 p.m. April 25 in reference to someone walking in and out of the home who was not supposed to be there.

– An officer responded to the former Ponderosa Park area at 8:17 a.m. April 26 in reference to a suspicious vehicle and found that the driver had been on his way to school when the front left tire ruptured.

– An officer responded to the area of state Route 165 and Seacrist Road at 8:28 a.m. April 26 in reference to a disabled vehicle and found that the vehicle had been crashed into the ditch. The driver, Natalie C. Preas, 40, Alliance, was cited for failure to control and driving under suspension.

– An officer responded to the 18000 block of Fifth Street, Beloit, at 11:06 a.m. April 26 in reference to two dogs roaming the area. A resident showed the officer which house they belonged at and the officer was able to secure the dogs there after getting no answer at the door.

– An officer responded to a 7000 block Garfield Road home at 12:30 p.m. April 26 where the resident reported someone had obtained his personal identifying information and was opening credit cards in his name.

– An officer responded to a Country Club Lane home at 8:13 p.m. April 26 to address a child custody issue.

– An officer responded to the Colonial Motel east of Damascus at 11:51 a.m. April 27 to assist Damascus first responders on a drug overdose. While on scene, the officer recovered drug matter.

– Codee Jacob Vanpelt, 22, Salem, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 7:20 a.m. April 28 in which he was northbound on Lisbon Road and attempted to make a left turn onto state Route 165, pulling into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Charles L. Bostwick, 66, Salem. No injuries were reported.

– An officer responded to a 11000 block Middletown Road home at 6:52 p.m. April 28 in reference to a vehicle being towed off the property and found it to be a civil matter.

– An officer responded to burglary report in the 12000 block of Green Beaver Road at 10:33 a.m. April 29.

– An officer responded to the area of state routes 165 and 534 at 8:32 p.m. April 29 to assist Smith Township police locate an individual for a welfare check.

– Officers responded to an 11000 block Lisbon Road home at 11:55 a.m. April 30 in reference to a father getting into a fight with is daughter.

– An officer responded to a report of an uncooperative man at an Apple Blossom Drive home at 7:17 a.m. May 1, but found everything to be okay.

COLUMBIANA

– A woman reported at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday there was a dog in a truck in the Dollar General parking lot that was parking for 15 minutes and the windows of the vehicle were up. Police checked on the vehicle, but it was leaving the parking lot by the time they arrived.

– Christopher Barnes, 28, Youngstown, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 7 near state Route 14.

– At 6:39 p.m. Wednesday a man dropped off a dog he found running loose in the area of Lisbon and West streets. Police warned the dog’s owner, Brian Weaver, for dog running at large.

– Carmen Stilson, 42, Columbiana was cited for driving under suspension and arrested on a warrant through the county sheriff’s office following a traffic stop on state Route 46 at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– Police responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday at the request of the fire department for a medical incident when a woman advised she took a handful of unknown pills because her dispenser jammed. She was transported to the hospital.

– At 3:26 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the East State Street and Cunningham Road intersection after an anonymous call for endangered children and followed the vehicle to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue. No violations were observed and the driver said the children were jumping around when the vehicle was in the parking lot but were seated when it was moving.

– At 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a drive-off from the station in the 900 block of East State Street where an older man drove off without paying for $31.62 in gas heading west on East State Street.

– At 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street where the complainant advised that approximately a week ago she found a prescription missing and adult services advised her to file police report so he doctor would write a new prescription.

– At 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 300 block of West Eighth Street for a dog on the loose and found several people attempting to catch a dog that got out by accident.

– At 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 400 block of East School Street where the complainant’s ex-boyfriend was harassing her over her daughter and visiting her. The problem was now in Alliance since the complainant lives there and the ex-boyfriend lives in Atwater. They were advised to get the proper paper work.

– At 7:54 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1500 block of Merle Road where a northbound vehicle apparently struck and killed a cat. The complainant was advised the humane officer was on the way.

– At 8:11 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where the complainant was having a problem with her juvenile son threatening her 7-year-old son. The juvenile was in school and the complainant called his diversion officer who advised that she call the police.

– At 8:21 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 2300 block of Kennedy Drive after a hit-skip accident in Perry Township. An officer located the truck in question with fresh damage to the rear and spoke to the resident/alleged driver who admitted to driving but also appeared to be under the influence and reluctant to cooperate with the investigation. A Perry Township officer had the vehicle towed pending the investigation after communicating with the county prosecutor’s office.

– Police responded to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 7:38 a.m. Wednesday where the complainant said that while leaving work he was threatened by a co-worker with physical harm. There was no physical violence and an incident report was taken.

– Police responded to the 100 block of North Madison Avenue at 3:03 a.m. Wednesday where a woman heard someone try to enter her residence. The suspect was gone when police arrived. The complainant said she didn’t see anyone and an officer checked the area and was unable to locate anyone. The complainant was advised to keep the doors locked.

– Police responded to the 200 block of West Fourth Street at 2:02 a.m. Wednesday and found a man sitting on the front porch waiting for a ride. The complainant said he was yelling obscenities on his cell phone while outside. A neighbor complained and wanted the complainant wanted him off her property and to not return. The man was picked up by a family member and advised not to return.

– Police responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 10:26 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised a cement-filled parking barrier from the lot was removed and an attempt was made to remove a second one. The cost was unknown and the complainant was advised of the options.

– Police responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 8:49 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a verbal dispute. Residents turned out the lights, television and didn’t answer the door after police knocked on it several times.

– At 7:33 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 2800 block of East State Street and charged Michelle D. McCarthy, 79305 Freeport, Tippecanoe Road, Tippecanoe, for attempting to walk from the store without paying for merchandise. She was taken to the county jail.

– At 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street for a man knocking on the complainant’s door. Due to a prior incident involving an alleged assault officers had instructed to complainant to call police if anyone showed up. An officer spoke with a person who left the complainant’s residence and advised that all involved in the incident were under investigation regarding the alleged assault reported at 6:20 p.m.

– Police responded to the 800 block of East Sixth Street at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday where the complainant’s son was unruly and spoke to the juvenile and the complainant. They were advised to stay away from each other until they calmed down.

PERRY TWP.

– Police responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious persons in the area and were unable to find anyone after a check.

– At 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 1300 block of Benton Road for a theft report. The complainant advised that he believes his son stole his televisions and a generator from the residence and wanted to make a report and was advised of the eviction process.

– Police responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 2:06 p.m. Tuesday for a report of people yelling at each other. Both parties were arguing over keys and a battery for a car. Police spoke to both and explained the consequences if police had to be called back.

– Police responded to Salem Acres in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 4:33 p.m. Tuesday where a woman resident advised a male resident took a cell phone charger from her. Police explained it was a civil matter.

– At 11:44 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 1300 block of West State Street after learning a woman with an outstanding warrant from Columbiana County was residing there. Tiffany N. Hoover, 1358 W. State St., was arrested for failure to appear on a charge of unauthorized use of property and was transferred to sheriff deputies.

LISBON

– EMTs requested police respond to a possible drug overdose on Thomas Road at 8:39 a.m. Friday. EMTs told police that Jeremy R. Hulick, 40, had overdosed on heroin but was now awake and his family wanted the house searched for any drugs. An EMT found a hypodermic needle still containing some liquid and turned it over to police. Hulick was charged with possessing a drug abuse instrument.

– An officer responded to a 1200 block Cedar Ridge Drive at 2:28 p.m. Monday where the resident reported the rear door had been forced open, damaging the frame, but that nothing appeared to be missing.

– Officers responded to a 400 block North Ellsworth Avenue home at 5:32 p.m. Monday where the resident reported seeing her neighbor in her yard taking a cat without permission. The neighbor was warned to stay off the woman’s property.

– A man at 5:57 p.m. Monday reported a road rage incident on East State Street in which the driver of the vehicle in front of him eventually exited his vehicle, then climbed back in, at which time the driver’s female passenger got out and kicked the front of his truck, causing damage.

– An officer responded to a 900 block Newgarden Avenue at 6:21 p.m. Monday where the resident reported a man she knows had been told to stay off her property, but had been there that day to retrieve a belonging. The officer found that officers failed to contact the man previously to tell him to stay off the property, and an officer on a later shift eventually contacted the man.

– Police arrested two juvenile girls, 16 and 12, for delinquency and theft after they allegedly attempted to steal $40.80 worth of merchandise from a 2800 block East State Street business at 8:35 p.m. Monday.

– A woman at 9:15 p.m. Monday reported a road rage incident on East State Street in which a motorcycle rider had punched the side mirror of her vehicle, damaging the mirror housing, after both drivers had passed one another multiple times.

– Officers responded to a Prospect Street apartment at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday where the resident reported finding drug paraphernalia belonging to his roommate in the home. The paraphernalia was confiscated.

– Officers attempted to talk with a distraught juvenile at an East Seventh Street at 8:02 a.m. Tuesday, but the mother said she had taken the juvenile to the Salem hospital for help after he made suicidal comments via text message and that now he did not wish to talk to officers.

– Amy S. Arcuri, 44, Salem, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign following a two-vehicle crash at East State Street and South Madison Avenue at 11:52 a.m. Tuesday in which she attempted a westbound turn off South Madison, striking an eastbound vehicle driven by Amy L. Bourne, 54, Gnadenhutten, Ohio. Arcuri was transported by ambulance to the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency room for incapacitating injuries.

– A North Madison Avenue resident reported at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday that a former neighbor had stopped in the roadway and called her profane names that day, and had driven down the road at an excessive speed prior.

– An East Third Street resident reported at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday that money had been taken from her home again.

– An officer responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday to speak with a distraught man, but found that he no longer lived at the home.

PERRY TWP.

– Police responded with Perry Township first responders and an ambulance to a 1300 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 4:53 p.m. Monday in reference to a drug overdose and found a woman unconscious on the floor. Drug paraphernalia was recovered from the scene and sent for testing. The woman was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.

– Police responded to the area of Egypt and East Pine Lake Road at 10:39 p.m. Monday in reference to a suspicious vehicle and found two women, who were checked for warrants and warned that they were on private property.

COLUMBIANA

– City police reported at 10:40 a.m. Monday finding vandalism in Firestone Park over the weekend.

– Lyndsay Blakeman, North Lima, reported a school incident at South Side Middle School at 1 p.m. Monday. The incident is being handled by the school and no further information was provided.

– Stephanie Vogel, North Main Street, reported telephone harassment at 12:48 p.m. Monday.

– Jeff Arsuffi, owner of J&J Car Wash, reported at 4:28 p.m. Monday he saw a man in a dark blue car steal a saw out of the yard of the business.

LISBON

– Rick Eells, East Washington Street, reported Friday two lawnmowers were stolen from his property.

– Police were called to the community swimming pool at 10:14 p.m. Friday about a group of youths congregated in the picnic area. Police arrived and came across four youths riding away on bicycles and they said they had been sitting around the picnic area talking. There was no evidence of suspicious activity, so police left.

– Police assisted the sheriff’s office in responding to the Frola Motel in regard to a suicidal man at 2:44 p.m. Saturday. The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

– A caller reported rocks were being fired into traffic by someone mowing the lawn on East Lincoln Way on the east side of town at 3:35 p.m. Saturday. The mower told police she purposely waits until traffic passes before she cuts the section near the street.

– Amy Mushweck, Apple Grove apartments, called at 8:48 p.m. Sunday because Terry Mullins showed up even though the person has been told to stay away by the resident manager. Mullins told police he was there to retrieve his credit card and she was upset he was taking it back. Mushweck did confirm that is why Mullins was there. Police told the parties to have no further contact with each other.

– Nicholas Bradley Stanyard, 28, Beaver Falls, Pa., was cited for driving under the influence and marked lanes following a traffic stop on state Route 165 at Lisbon Road at 12:03 a.m. Saturday.

SALEM

– Police responded to possible gun shots fired in the 1100 block of East Third Street at 4:13 p.m. Sunday, but were unable to find any disturbance.

– Gregory Hoffman, 38, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in the 500 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 10:43 p.m. Sunday in which he was northbound and struck the rear of a tow truck with its lights activated driven by James M. Good, 49, Cuyahoga Falls. No injuries were reported.

– Officers responded to a dispute in the 500 block of Bank Street at 11:48 p.m. Sunday and found no physical violence, but that all individuals involved were intoxicated. They stood by until a ride arrived for one the individuals.

– An officer responded to an East Third Street apartment at 12:06 a.m. Monday where a resident reported someone had entered the home sometime within the past hour and removed several items. She said she became aware of the situation when another resident arrived home and noted the door left open.

– Reagan M. Duck, 19, Wellsville, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Highland Avenue and East State Street at 12:40 a.m. Monday for registration and equipment violations. His passenger, Michael S. Heverly, 31, Homeworth, was cited for disorderly conduct after becoming irate when a licensed driver arrived to pick them up.

– An officer responded to a 2000 block Oak Street home at 12:41 a.m. Monday where the resident reported the sound of someone trying to enter an enclosed porch at the home, but the officer was unable to find anyone outside.

– Megan A. McClaskey, 23, 232 W. 10th St., Salem, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded to her home where her boyfriend claimed she pushed him down two flights of stairs during an argument. Officers observed injuries to the boyfriend.

PERRY TWP.

– Guy Paul Blancato III, 22, no listed address, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash at 3:03 p.m. Friday in which he was westbound on East Pidgeon Road and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Dorothy L. Sniezek, 65, Salem. No injuries were reported.

– A patrolling officer at 8:09 p.m. Friday observed an unsecured door with the key in the lock at a South Lincoln Avenue building. It appeared to be employee neglect and a keyholder was advised of the situation.

– An officer responded to a Prospect Street apartment at 8:35 p.m. Friday where a woman requested stand by while a piece of furniture mistakenly removed was returned.

– Michael E. McCain, 44, Salem, was arrested on a secret indictment warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 12:22 a.m. Saturday.

– Police were advised of a possible crash near the intersection of state Route 344 and Cunningham Road at 6:52 a.m. Saturday, but instead found a disabled vehicle on state Route 344 near Leetonia limits.

– Police responded to the 1900 block of state Route 344 where a resident reported two men were in his backyard near his barn, one of whom slit his jacket with a knife when he confronted them. He said they ran off into the woods behind the property.

– Police responded to the Salem Hunting Club area for a report of a drunk person walking around at 12:02 a.m. Sunday but were unable to find anyone.

– A Goshen Road resident reported at 2:21 p.m. Sunday receiving harassing phone calls from ex-girlfriend regarding a dog they purchased while dating for which he has taken care of since the fall and for which she now wants custody settled in court. Advised that it is a civil matter and to let it be settled in court.

– An officer responded to a Prospect Street apartment at 8:37 p.m. Sunday where a West Perry Street resident reported their son’s bicycle was stolen after he left it at the apartment.

– Stephanie J. Godfrey, 35, Salem, was arrested for suspected OVI, failure to control and child endangerment after officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at the dead end of interchange at state Route 45/U.S. Route 62 and state Route 14F at 10:45 p.m. Sunday in which she was northbound on U.S. Route 62 when she drove off the roadway, striking a mound of asphalt. Upon arrival, officers found emergency medical personnel attending to a child inside the vehicle, who was eventually transported to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown for evaluation.

COLUMBIANA

– James T. Gorman, Canfield, reported at 10 a.m. Sunday he backed into a yellow Ford Mustang while leaving the Columbiana Ford dealership. No citations were issued due to being on private property.

– A South Main Street man reported at 11 a.m. Sunday the door to his neighbor’s home was open and he didn’t believe they were home.

– A man reported at 4:49 p.m. Sunday four kids on the visitor bleachers in the park were yelling obscenities. Police found a group of girls in the bleachers but they denied using any foul language.

– A man reported at 4:19 a.m. Sunday he saw a train coming on the Pittsburgh Street railroad tracks and then it stopped and he believed it had derailed. Police checked the area and found no problems.

LISBON

-Gregory Mason Jr., 32, of Aliquippa, Pa., was charged with driving without a valid license and possessing instruments used to commit drug abuse following a traffic stop on Rose Drive at 3:37 a.m. Thursday. Police were already aware Mason did not have a license when they saw him driving a vehicle belonging to Megan Tomlin, Rose Drive, and initiated a traffic stop.

– Police responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 7:35 p.m. Saturday where a patient reported someone was on their way to beat them up and would have a gun. Officers found that the threat originated from a third party via a social media message that had been deleted.

– Officers responded to a 900 block West State Street business at 9:02 p.m. Saturday where someone reported lights on at an unusual time, but found the building secure and no cars in the parking lot.

– Police responded to a 1200 block East Third Street home at 9:37 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone possibly attempting to enter the residence, but found no evidence of such.

– A South Howard Avenue resident requested officers on station at 10:05 p.m. Saturday look at her hand after she cut it with a knife while slicing fruit. She was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.

– An officer responded to a Cleveland Street home at 10:20 p.m. Saturday where a woman reported her ex-boyfriend had been contacting her and would not stop.

– Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 11:23 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious man with blood on him. They found him to be intoxicated with a laceration on his left arm bleeding considerably. He said he had fallen and injured himself, and was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.

– A patrolling officer observed two people walking near a 300 block West State Street business at 4:03 a.m. Sunday and found one to be a juvenile. Andrew Raymond Irwin, 17, Salem, was charged with unruly juvenile and curfew violations and turned over to his mother.

– Officers responded to an 1100 block South Lincoln Avenue apartment for a report of a fight and found a physical altercation between three men who would not comply with officers commands. One man grabbed and officer and wouldn’t let go until he was Tasered, at which time the men separated. Manuel A. Jimon, 24, 491 Perry St., Salem, was charged with assault and resisting arrest; Gabriel F. DeJesus, 29, 323 Rose Ave., Salem, was charged with assault; and Jorge J. Castro, 22, 1164 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem, was charged with assault. A fourth man was found intoxicated and sleeping in a bathtub with and injured arm not related to the incident. He was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital.

– Officers checked the area of 0 W. Second St. for a suspicious man, but found everything okay at 2:22 p.m. Sunday.

Columbiana

– A man reported at 8 a.m. Saturday there was a reckless driver on state Route 14. Police found the vehicle and spoke with the driver and found there were no problems.

– Collin Perkins, Fairfield School Road, reported at 10 a.m. Saturday his brother Justin Perkins assaulted him. Police arrested Perkins, 28, Fairfield School Road, for domestic violence and he was taken to the county jail.

– Jenny Heldreth, East Park Avenue, reported at 10:18 a.m. Saturday her house was broken into.

– Emily Hubbard reported at 2:11 p.m. Saturday she was trying to get her property out of a Court Street home and her mother and sister were causing problems. Police stood by to keep the peace. Troy and Tylor Thompson of New Waterford were warned for criminal trespassing.

POLICE REPORTS

SALEM

– A 1200 Cedar Ridge Drive resident reported at 2:59 p.m. Friday that someone had entered her home that day and taken a gaming system console with controller and four games that she was leasing from an area business.

– Logan P. Stewart, 20, Salem, was cited for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop for a moving violation in the area of Woodland Avenue and Maple Street at 8:36 p.m. Friday.

– Police responded to the high school parking lot at 1:12 a.m. Saturday in reference to two suspicious vehicles and found that the drivers had been working late at the musical and were talking before leaving.

– A West Perry Street resident reported at 2:11 a.m. Saturday that her ex-boyfriend had damaged her vehicle while she was picking up belongings at a Vine Avenue residence just prior to the report. The ex-boyfriend denied the action.

– Nickolas Opalick, 64, Canfield, was arrested on a felony fraud warrant out of Boardman while at his place of business in the 800 block of West State Street at 10:38 a.m. Saturday.

– Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 12:19 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man having seizures. The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

– Police responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 12:56 p.m. Saturday in reference to a toddler outside alone screaming for his mother. The child was found inside with his mother and everything was okay.

– An Olive Street resident reported at 1:30 p.m. Saturday going with his wife to North Carolina to pick up their great-granddaughter due to an issue with the child’s mother. He said they all came back to Salem and now the mother was threatening to take the child and leave. The mother was advised to speak with children services before leaving.

– An officer responded to the area behind the fire department at 1:56 p.m. Saturday where a woman had struck the stop sign with her vehicle then left the area. The officer was able to contact the woman and obtain photos of the damage

– An officer was flagged down in the area of South Ellsworth Avenue and East Wilson Street at 1:59 p.m. Saturday by a woman who reported an elderly man sitting on the grass in apparent need of medical attention. The officer responded with medical personnel and found that the man was just resting while mowing the grass.
