-- Police received a call at 2:32 p.m. Monday about a suspicious male looking at females entering a store in the 2400 block of East State Street. The male said he was just talking to his father while his mother was inside the store. The father said the female in question appeared to be in a bad mood when she walked by.
-- Police recovered property found in the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:23 p.m. Monday and notified the owner that the item could be picked up at the police station.
-- A 911 hangup call was reported at 1:22 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Jennings Avenue. The caller said his aunt needed medical attention, but when officers and firefighters arrived, the residence appeared to be empty. Entry was made and nobody was inside. Other residences were checked in the area and the caller was not located. Multiple attempts were made to contact him, with a voicemail message left.
-- A person was seen at 1:01 p.m. Monday selling novelty fireworks from the trunk of a vehicle in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. He was told he needed a city permit to solicit.a
-- Police found a suspicious unoccupied vehicle at 7:29 a.m. Monday parked just off of Pennsylvania Avenue in the access drive that leads to underneath the Cranmer bridge. No driver was around, with police thinking the vehicle may be disabled.
-- A caller at 7:16 a.m. Monday reported a white truck towing a trailer west on East State Street with trash allegedly being thrown out. Officers located the vehicle and followed, but saw no problems. A traffic stop was initiated and occupants were told about the complaint, but said they did not litter and had no trash in the vehicle to start with.
-- Brittney Welling, 22, of Newgarden Avenue, was cited for passing on right on Monday morning after her southbound vehicle collided with another southbound vehicle after starting to pass it on the right on North Ellsworth Avenue, believing the other vehicle was turning left. The other vehicle, driven by John Carritz, 47, of Lake Milton, had intended to turn left onto Aetna but Aetna was closed due to a water line break, forcing the vehicle to proceed straight on North Ellsworth Avenue.
-- Police investigating a loud person complaint at 12:12 a.m. Monday found a man yelling outside while talking on his cell phone. He was told to keep it down.
-- Loud persons were reported in the area of Pershing and Park Avenue at 11:53 p.m. Sunday, but nobody was found.
-- Police responded to the 800 block of East Fifth Street for a report of a juvenile attempting to harm herself at 8:32 p.m. Sunday. The juvenile had allegedly taken several unknown pills and ran away from the residence. Officers searched the area and attempted to locate her through her cell phone. A neighbor found her and took the juvenile to Salem Regional Medical Center where officers responded and talked with her. The mother was advised of her location and it was found the juvenile was being bullied. A detective was advised and evidence secured.
-- Police responded at 8:03 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of East Third Street for an abandoned residence with an open door. Officers and K-9 Simon checked the residence and found no one inside, then secured the door.
-- The caretaker of a closed business in the 300 block of North Ellsworth Avenue reported Sunday that his friend was using the business to store items and he told him he needed to remove all the items, that he was not permitted to use the business as his personal storage area. He also reported that some of the items appeared to be stolen, but he was not sure at this time. The friend was not in the area and it was unknown where he was staying. The situation is under investigation.
-- Police were called at 7:20 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of Buckeye Avenue for a domestic. The people were already separated and both said the incident was verbal, with no signs of physical violence. The female was arranging for a ride to leave for the evening.
-- A woman reported at 7:12 p.m. Sunday that her cell phone was stolen Saturday when she was at a business in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue and she pinged the location on North Ellsworth near East Third. A neighbor let officers check inside an abandoned building, but the phone was not located.
-- Suspicious activity was reported at Walmart at 5:57 p.m. Sunday on East State Street. Police saw a male and female in a vehicle and sent them on their way.
-- A domestic dispute was reported at 5:37 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Fourth Street where a woman advised her ex was dropping off their daughter the day before and pushed her. She was told her options.
-- Benjamin Hall, 29, of 1859 Cleveland St., was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer stopped a vehicle for several moving violations at 5:23 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of East Third Street. K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor and multiple items of contraband were recovered from the vehicle. Hall was processed and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
-- A water line break was reported at 4:01 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West Seventh Street, with the water department notified.
-- Cameron Yarwood, 40, of 748 Newgarden Ave., was taken into custody at 3:05 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue on a warrant for failure to appear on a theft charge. He was turned over to a Columbiana County sheriff's deputy.
-- An anonymous caller at 1:28 p.m. Sunday reported a case of indecent exposure in the 900 block of Franklin. Officers located the person in question and saw no violations or problems with the way the man was dressed.
-- A caller at 1:06 p.m. Sunday reported persons mowing grass into the roadway in the 1300 block of East State Street. No violations were observed.
-- A woman on Continental Drive reported at 12:30 p.m. Sunday that she was receiving unwanted text messages from her neighbor. Both sides were told to cease contact.

-- Township police assisted Salem Police at 9:27 p.m. Sunday in locating a juvenile whose phone was pinged in the area of Cunningham and Butcher roads. The juvenile was located by Salem police.
-- Paul Phillips, 61, whose last known address was state Route 644, Kensington, was stopped at 1:15 a.m. Sunday while riding a motorized scooter on Georgetown Road at state Route 45 and was taken into custody after police found an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear on a driving under suspension charge. He said he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument so he went for a drive on his scooter. While speaking with him, police were told the scooter tipped over and he hurt his back. An ambulance responded and he signed a refusal saying the hospital wouldn't be able to do anything for him. He was turned over to a Columbiana County sheriff's deputy and taken to jail. A tow company towed the scooter.
-- Police were called at 11:01 p.m. Saturday to the 1700 block of Goshen Road for a welfare check on a woman who was making comments about harming herself. She spoke to police and again said she wanted to harm herself. She was voluntarily transported by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation.
-- Police responded at 5:24 p.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of Van Buren Avenue for a report that a dog had attacked a mail carrier earlier in the day. The homeowner was told to keep the animal quarantined for 10 days. Police notified the dog warden about the attack due to the owner not having papers or rabies tags.
-- Police were called at 3:17 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Cunningham Road for a neighbor dispute over a fire and spoke with the caller and the fire department. She was told the neighbor was within his legal rights to have a fire.
-- A man in the 900 block of Benton Road called police at 2:07 p.m. Saturday about a neighbor's beagle dog on the property. He told police that he was not sure who owned the dog for sure, but if it came on his property again, he was going to shoot it. Police told him the laws about causing harm to other's animals for no reason and told him not to do that, but to instead call police if the dog returns.
-- A man from the 1700 block of Depot Road reported at 8:15 p.m. Friday that a few days ago police had been called to his house because of people camping in a tent on his property. He now thinks the same people stole the keys to his tractor and his ATV.
-- Police responded to the 300 block of North Lundy to assist Salem Police with a domestic at 7 p.m. Friday, but Salem officers had the scene under control. Township personnel then went to assist Salem Police at the station with people in their booking room.
-- Police were called at 9:47 a.m. Friday to Circle K South on South Lincoln Avenue to check on a man who had been sleeping in his car for over 30 minutes. The business was concerned. Before police arrived, the man woke up and drove away.
-- A man from East Third Street in Salem called at 9:42 a.m. Friday to report he was run off the road by a local garbage company's garbage truck while traveling on Painter road and was forced into a ditch. He was uninjured and able to get his vehicle out of the ditch. He contacted the company and left a message for them to call him.
