SALEM
— A caller at 11:11 p.m. Wednesday reported a suspicious person in the 100 block of North Madison, saying an unknown male walked across the street towards him while he was walking back to his vehicle. When he turned around, the male left the area on foot. Police did not find him.
— A possible domestic was reported at 10:31 p.m. Wednesday at North Howard and West Fourth after an anonymous caller walking in the area said she heard yelling. Police checked but didn’t find anyone or any issue.
— An unwanted female was reported at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of West Pershing. Upon arrival, a female was leaving in a vehicle and stopped, telling police the caller was intoxicated and they got into an argument. She said the male struck her around the left eye but she did not have any visible injury. The male denied striking her and the female was sent on her way.
— An officer in dispatch who was observing the camera monitors for the parks saw what appeared to be two young females involved in a fight at Centennial Park at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the girls who said they were friends and just playing around. Officers also spoke to the mother of one of the juveniles and advised her what was observed on the monitors. All were sent on their way.
— A caller at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday reported a truck and trailer parked with the left side to the curb blocking the road in the 200 block of Ohio Avenue. People were loading a vehicle onto the trailer. Police did not locate the truck and trailer, but had been delayed due to an emergency call.
— Officers and firefighters responded to the 100 block of West Seventh Street at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday for live wires in the road, standing by until Ohio Edison arrived and shut the power down.
— Police were called at 8:41 p.m. Wednesday to the 900 block of Newgarden Avenue after an anonymous caller reported a male operating a Bobcat while intoxicated. Officers saw the male operating the machinery on his property and he admitted to consuming alcohol. Police determined he was not intoxicated but cautioned him about operating heavy machinery after consuming alcohol as a safety precaution. He was done for the evening.
— Police were called Wednesday evening to the 1300 block of East Pershing Street for a report of a person on the construction equipment. While police were enroute, the caller said the person left the area on a bike. The person was contacted and told to stay out of the construction zone.
— A caller at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue reported a person about to ride his motorcycle while intoxicated. Officers made contact and confirmed he had been drinking, telling him to leave the motorcycle in the parking lot and call for a ride home.
— Solicitors were reported at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of East Fourth Street. Police made contact and told the person to stop going door to door without the proper paperwork and to let the rest of his crew know.
— A woman came to the station with her caregiver at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday to advise a female employee from her previous residential home used her debit card without her permission for $15.61 worth of food. The woman needed a report number for her bank, her new residential home and the Board of Developmental Disabilities.
— Meredith Eversole, 18, of Salem Warren Road, was charged with assured clear distance ahead after her vehicle struck the rear of another southbound vehicle on North Ellsworth Avenue driven by Richard Edgerton, 55, of Washington Avenue, who had slowed for traffic at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday.
— A woman in the 1100 block of Oak Street reported at 3:18 p.m. Wednesday that someone took her son’s bicycle without permission. She was told her options.
— No citation was issued after a driver suffered an unknown medical condition while southbound on Southeast Boulevard at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday, causing the vehicle to run off the road over a curb and into a guardrail. Shirley Dye, 71, of Maple Street, was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT for treatment.
— A person was reported laying on the railroad tracks under the West State Street overpass at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, but no one was found.
— A person to be removed from the 400 block of Aetna Street at 11:49 a.m. Wednesday left before police arrived and was not found.
— A woman on Merle Road reported fraud at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday, saying there was a transaction she didn’t make on her bank account. She needed a report for her bank.
— A street sign was reported in the road at 10:19 a.m. Wednesday at Maple and Jefferson. The sign had already been moved from the road.
— aA person was reported down at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of East State Street. The man said he was walking to Pennsylvania and sat down to take a rest.
— A tree limb was reported down in the 900 block of Liberty Street at 9:33 a.m. Wednesday. The street department was contacted.
— Police were called to Walmart at 9:02 a.m. Wednesday for a strange packet found inside the store with a milky white substance inside a sealed bag. Officers took possession and disposed of it at the station.
— A man in the 800 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday that a window on his vehicle was broken. A company was prepping the driveway to be sealed and blowing rocks and other debris off the drive. He said a rock must have been blown into the window.
— A suspicious person was reported at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of South Lincoln but was not found.
— A domestic was reported at 7:24 a.m. Wednesday on Newgarden Avenue with both parties saying it was an argument over a cell phone with nothing physical occurring. The man said he was leaving to go to work.
— A truck was reported egged overnight in the 900 block of Jones Drive at 6:46 a.m. Wednesday.
PERRY TWP.
— Police responded to the 400 block of North Howard Avenue at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday to assist Salem Police with a domestic call. No persons involved could be found.
— A resident in the 700 block of Stewart Road reported at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday that a raccoon appeared sick and was in her tree. The animal was not found.
— Police were called at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of Lake Avenue for a dispute between roommates. The caller asked police to stand by while his roommate removed items from the residence but was told the police don’t do civil standbys. Both roommates said they would be civil during the moving process.
— A man on Elberon Avenue reported at 2:34 a.m. Wednesday that his garage door may have been opened by unknown people. He noticed it when he let his dogs out but didn’t see anyone or anything out of order. Police didn’t find anyone.
COLUMBIANA
— Brittany Hayden was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Springfield Road at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday.
— Police were called to 20 Alisha Lane at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday to remove someone from the premises. The person agreed to leave once police showed up.
— Jack Veon was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Pittsburgh Street at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday.
— A cemetery employee reported Wednesday finding tires dumped in the southeast corner of the cemetery
EAST PALESTINE
— A resident of 705 E. Martin St. reported Tuesday receiving disturbing messages via the phone and internet.
— Two juvenile girls and 18-year-old girl reported at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday they were approached in the downtown by an older man on a bicycle who appeared to be under the influence of something, and he offered them drugs. Police did not find a man matching the description.
— Police were called to a drug overdose at 219 Wood St. at 4:46 p.m. Tuesday. EMTs also called to the scene administered Narcan, and the person was transported to a local hospital.
— Police were called to a family dispute on East Martin Street at 5:13 p.m. Tuesday, but no violence occurred, and the parties left by the time police arrived.
— Police responded to a loud noise complaint at 297 E. Taggart St. at 12:17 a.m. Wednesday. Police spoke to the residents, who agreed to go inside for the night.
