SALINEVILLE -- A Salem News carrier was hospitalized early Thursday after an accident on state Route 164 near the intersection of state Route 39 northeast of Salineville.
According to company employees, Jerry Westlake was driving to work shortly before 1 a.m. when another vehicle went left of center, crashing head-on into Westlake's dark blue car.
According to WKBN First News, the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene. The highway patrol told WKBN it knows the name of the at-fault driver because he is wanted for a non-violent domestic incident.
The patrol did not identify the man, who remains at large.
One News employee noted that Westlake's vehicle had a light bar across the top so it would be easily visible when he delivered papers when it was dark, and speculated that the other driver might have thought he hit a police cruiser.
