LISBON -- A New York man, who allegedly sliced a local man in the head and back with a razor blade at a former motel was among 50 people indicted by the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court grand jury this week.
Naquan P. McCorkle, 35, Lynbrook, N.Y., is charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and attempted murder, a first-degree felony. In the early morning hours of Nov. 30, McCorkle is accused of cutting Brian Custer with a razor blade in attempt to end his life at the location formerly known as the Trails End Motel on state Route 45 between Lisbon and West Point.
McCorkle is one of the 31 open indictments issued by the grand jury. The grand jury chose not to indict in two cases. In addition, 19 secret indictments were issued, which will be released as they are served. The following are the other 30 open indictments:
Jessica L. Lasater, 33, Cunningham Road, Salem, is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, third-degree felony; failure to stop after an accident, a fifth-degree felony; counterfeiting, a third-degree felony; aggravated vehicular assault, a second-degree felony; and a misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them and driving under suspension. The charges stem from an Aug. 13 incident where Lasater was reportedly driving a white, GMC Envoy, while intoxicated, fleeing from Salem police while having counterfeit money and drug-related items in the vehicle. She then reportedly crashed into two other vehicles in Austintown near the intersection of state Route 46 and New Road causing harm to Joann Nagy.
Jason S. Ramsey, 19, Walnut Ridge, Salineville, is charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, for allegedly using a knife on Nov. 2 to rob Steven Faber at the Salem Memorial Building by handing him a note threatening to stab and kill people he knew if he did not take him to the bank and withdraw money for him.
Sean S. Crislip, 32, Vienna, is charged with tampering with evidence and counterfeiting, both third-degree felonies. On Aug. 13, Crislip allegedly was the passenger in a white, SUV, fleeing from Salem police, while counterfeit money and the bags for carrying dangerous drugs were being thrown from the passenger window.
Wilber L. Miller, 46, Pancake-Clarkson Road, Rogers; Angela M. Weaver, 32, Garfield Street, East Palestine; and Brenna Jean Perkins, 27, Morris Road, Lisbon, are each charged with obstructing official business, a third-degree felony. On Oct. 6, Miller allegedly assisted Ricardo Gonzalez, who deputies were searching for because he was facing charges of first-degree felony felonious assault and third-degree felony failure to comply. Weaver is accused of hindering his apprehension between Oct. 7 and Oct. 15. Perkins allegedly assisted him by providing him rides on Oct. 7.
Lucas L. Miller, 30, Phoenix, Ariz., is charged with falsification and theft from a person in a protected class, a fourth-degree felony. On July 4, Miller allegedly stole several types of U.S. currencies and coins from a stand at Rogers Flea Market owned by Richard R. Hamilton, and then reportedly lied to investigators.
James A. Hiles, 29, Cleveland, is charged with receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, and misdemeanor charges of falsification, obstructing official business, possession of drug abuse instruments and illegal use of drug paraphernalia. On Oct. 12, Hiles allegedly had a stolen 2005 Kia Sportage belonging to Cassandra Massey and attempted to conceal his identity by giving police a false name.
Steven N. Baddeley Jr., 36, Spillway Road, Lisbon, is charged with illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises, a third-degree felony; as well as misdemeanor charges of assault. On Aug. 20, Baddeley allegedly was at Mark's Landing, where he threatened and harmed Darreck E. Ferrell.
Audrey L. Wylie, 36, North Jackson, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly using a 2012 Ford Fusion belonging to David Hughes without his consent on Sept. 17 through Sept. 20.
Justin B. Schroeder, 34, Zenith Court, East Liverpool, is charged with breaking and entering, three counts of receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor charge of petty theft. On Oct. 23, Schroeder allegedly broke into the East Liverpool City School where he reportedly took clothing, food and supplies. On the same day he reportedly had a 2015 KIA Optima belonging to Kimberly Paul, a Heckler and Koch 9-millimeter gun belonging to Hayden M. Wright and a license plate belonging to the Allegheny County Port Authority.
Brandon M. Huff, 26, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly taking a 1998 Ford SW belonging to John White on Nov. 1 without White's permission.
Paul Raymond McCowin Jr., 67, Pancake-Clarkson Road, Rogers, is charged with obstructing justice, a third-degree felony, for allegedly assisting Ricardo Gonzalez on Oct. 7 by allowing him to stay at his home and use his phone.
Christopher J. Wallace, 35, Dunn Road, East Liverpool, is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony. Wallace allegedly fled in a vehicle from the highway patrol on Nov. 7, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph on state Routes 154 and 170.
James A. Knezetic, 29, Aetna Street, Salem, is charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly throwing a bag of meth out of a vehicle into a yard in an attempt to hide it from Columbiana police during a traffic stop on Nov. 7.
Steven J. McVay, 39, Trinity Church Road, Lisbon, is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly taking a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis belonging Brian K. Mills Jr. on Sept. 17.
Jack H. Shaffer III, 35, Greentown, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly having a Smith and Wesson, nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun on Nov. 18.
Joshua E. Killing, 25, Salem-Unity Road, Salem, is charged with having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, for allegedly having a 22-caliber rifle and several bullets for that gun and others, when he reportedly has a prior burglary conviction on Jan. 23, 2017.
James Edward Neville III, 27, Hollywood Avenue, East Liverpool, is charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, and intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a criminal case, a misdemeanor. Neville is accused of harming Megan Renea Douds, a family member, on Oct. 17, when he has a prior conviction of domestic violence in East Liverpool Municipal Court in 2018 and then attempting to intimidate the victim between Nov. 20 and Nov. 25.
Sonya Shasteen, 44, Cadmus Street, East Liverpool, and Brian L. Cramer, Michigan Avenue, East Liverpool, are each charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a first-degree felony; and aggravated trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony; with two major drug offender specifications. On Oct. 1, both allegedly had at least 100 times the bulk amount of methamphetamines, which were intended for resale. Shasteen is additionally charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; possession of drugs, a misdemeanor charge, for allegedly also having hydrocodone and tramadol.
Russell A. Morckel, 54, Carrollton, is charged with a third-degree felony failure to comply with an order of signal of a police officer. On Sept. 14, Morckel allegedly fled from Columbiana police on South Main Street and state Route 344 where he allegedly reach speeds exceeding 90 mph before entering Leetonia.
Cortez L. Hammonds, 35, New Castle, Pa., is charged with burglary, a third-degree felony. On March 30, Hammonds allegedly broke into a property owned by Brad Wilson on Conner Drive, East Palestine, taking a Suzuki King Quad ATV, which was later posted for sale on Craigslist.
Justin W. McNicholas, 21, New Castle, Pa., is charged with complicity in the commission of an offense, a third-degree felony, for allegedly assisting Hammonds in stealing and transporting the ATV on March 30.
Eric Slagle, 29, Berry Road, Kensington, is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony, for allegedly fleeing from the highway patrol on state Route 154 on Nov. 23 at speeds of about 99 mph, while passing about 17 vehicles between where the initial traffic stop began in Rogers and where it ended near the intersection of McCormick Run Road and state Route 518.
Jaycent Staats, 37, U.S. Route 30, East Rochester, is charged with receiving stolen property a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, endangering children and driving under suspension. On Dec. 5, Staats allegedly used a 2006 Jeep Liberty without the permission of Melissa Staats, the owner, and had a stolen 2012 Homemade Trailer, the property of ProMark Service Group. Additionally, his license was reportedly suspended and he had a 6-year-old child in the vehicle with him.
William B. Royal, 23, West Middletown Road, Salem, is charged with breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly breaking into an unoccupied structure belonging to Robert Crawford on Sept. 12.
Matthew P. Soldo, 40, Youngstown, is charged with violating a protection order, fifth-degree felony. On Dec. 15, Soldo allegedly was with Ashley House at a Dollar General, when House had a protection order against him and he has prior felony convictions in three cases involving protection orders in 2017 and 2018.
Codey Allen Mobley, 26, Chester Avenue, Wellsville, is charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; domestic violence, a third-degree felony; escape, a third-degree felony; and misdemeanor charges of criminal damaging and two counts of resisting arrest. On Dec. 2, Mobley allegedly broke into the home of Sarah Berdine, Independence Square, Wellsville, with the purpose of committing domestic violence, when he has prior convictions for domestic violence starting in 2013. Additionally, Mobley allegedly punched a hole in the wall and broke her TV. Then on Dec. 13, he allegedly broke away from those who were taking him into custody and interfered with his own arrest on both Dec. 13 and 14.
David Lee Morrison, 43, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, is charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, and sexual battery, a third-degree felony. On Nov. 5 and 6, Morrison allegedly harmed a woman and sexually assaulted her.
