EAST PALESTINE
-- A Garfield Avenue resident reported at 10:59 p.m. Tuesday a foster child ran away.
-- A man reported at 1:41 p.m. Monday he was concerned his adult daughter may have been kidnapped.
-- A West High Street man reported at 12:29 p.m. Sunday a sick raccoon was in his yard. Police found the animal was sick and it was put down.
-- Police assisted deputies at a domestic disturbance at a Jimtown Road home at 11:53 p.m. Friday. Michael Harroff was later arrested for persistent disorderly conduct and transported to the county jail.
-- A clerk at Circle K reported at 6:02 a.m. Friday a woman had been inside the store for several hours and seemed to be upset.
-- A Wood Street resident reported at 10:59 p.m. Dec. 23, someone stole a package.
SALEM
-- Police responded at 5:21 a.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Continental Drive for a domestic dispute. Officers made contact with a boyfriend and girlfriend who had an argument over the woman's job. The boyfriend decided to leave.
-- Police were called at 2:58 a.m. Thursday to the 2800 block of East State Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol regarding a motor vehicle accident with six occupants trapped inside. Officers checked the east side of the city limits, then got a call back that the accident actually happened in Goshen Township.
-- A vehicle break-in was reported at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Prospect Street. Officers were told a male and female each wearing dark clothing had stolen items out of a man's vehicle and took off running when confronted. Perry Township Police were called to assist looking for the suspects who ran into the township's jurisdiction. They were not found. One male matching the description was stopped and patted down, but was not involved.
-- Police responded at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday to a parking lot in the 700 block of West State Street to check the well-being of a male slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle. Officers were able to wake him up. He had been asleep and appeared normal.
-- A well-being check was requested on a dog in the 900 block of Park Avenue at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday, but the dog was not found.
-- A shoplifter was reported at Walmart on East State Street at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday. Police gathered information for an investigation.
-- A well-being check was requested at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of East Fifth Street. A family member couldn't make contact with a relative they believed was visiting someone at this residence. Police didn't find the relative or the person they were visiting. The resident later called police and had the relative on the phone also.
-- Damien Phillips, 19, of Aetna Street, was cited for failure to yield after his eastbound vehicle on Aetna stopped at the stop sign at South Lincoln and proceeded into the intersection, getting struck by a southbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Salem female who said she wasn't able to stop in time at 2:34 p.m. Wednesday. She had the right-of-way. No injuries were reported.
-- A theft was reported at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of West Pershing Street. Police were able to locate and return the property in question.
-- Police responded at 1:04 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of West Wilson Street regarding questions about a protection order. A woman said she obtained a protection order against a male and he was on the property when she got home. She said he put a padlock on the inside of her garage door and now she can't get access her garage. Police found the person had not been informed of the protection order and had belongings in the garage. Officers contacted him about the protection order and told him to have no contact with her or go on the property or face charges. He was told how to obtain his property and get a copy of the protection order.
-- Police were called at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday to the 1700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue for a report of someone shooting in a field behind Salem Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Nobody was found.
-- An employee of a business in the 600 block of South Broadway reported at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday that a check was issued via email to a company for product needed at the business in November. Now several checks have been issued to different people in several states and signed by a person who does not work for the company. Attempts were made to cash the checks with mobile deposit but were flagged as the business has check fraud protection and checks have to be authorized to be cashed. No money was lost by the business at this time, but it was unknown how many other attempts may be made or if they will be successful.
-- An anonymous tip was reported at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday about a person in the area of Penn Avenue and Pershing matching the description of a wanted person. The person was found but wasn't the wanted person.
-- Police were called at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of Newgarden to check the well-being of a person. Fire department medics and KLG arrived and the person was voluntarily transported by KLG to Salem Regional Medical Center.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
-- Kirk Cavalier, 39, of Alliance, was cited for failure to control after he said he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road, striking a street sign and ending up in the front yard of a township residence at state Route 45 and Pidgeon Road at 5:14 a.m. Thursday.
-- Township police at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday assisted Salem officers in searching for two people wearing all black clothing in the area of Prospect Street Extension. They were seen breaking into a vehicle and taking miscellaneous tools and fled the area. They were not found.
-- Michael Hvizdos, 18, of North Lima, was cited for failure to yield after turning left from the U.S. 62 four-lane bypass onto North Lincoln Avenue and striking a northbound vehicle driven by Herbert Washington, 65, of Salem, at 7:47 a.m. Wednesday. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
