SALEM

-- Police responded at 12:45 a.m. Friday to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue for a fight. Witnesses said the involved parties separated. After locating the victim, police called fire department medics and KLG to the scene due to visible injuries. The victim did not want to pursue charges, but was given the option to fill out a voluntary witness statement at a later time. He was given a courtesy ride home after leaving Salem Regional Medical Center.

-- Loud music was reported at 11:11 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Jennings Avenue. The homeowner said he would turn it down.

-- Loud persons were reported at 11:08 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Euclid where officers found two females who said one of them was looking for her phone and they were speaking loudly. Officers also spoke to a neighbor about the living conditions of the person's residence. A copy of the report will be sent to the housing department.

-- Loud music was reported coming from a vehicle in the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 10:38 p.m. Thursday. A man agreed to go inside for the evening.

-- A caller at 8 p.m. Thursday reported two suspicious people loitering behind an open business in the 900 block of East State Street. They said they were socializing but willing to leave. There was no suspicious activity.

-- Scott Spiker, 54, of Ohio Avenue, was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence after a traffic stop at 7:52 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Reilly Avenue.

-- John Soldo, 47, of North Ellsworth Avenue, was cited for driving under suspension and lighted lights required after a traffic stop at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Benton Road. Police saw the vehicle leaving the city without headlights and learned the license was suspended. K-9 Argo indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor and a probable cause search yielded marijuana which was seized and destroyed. A valid driver responded for the vehicle.

-- Police responded for a call at 5:31 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of West Pershing Street for a well-being check on someone who had fallen earlier in the day. Police made contact with the person, who was extremely intoxicated and had visible injuries. Fire department medics and EMT arrived and the person was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.

-- Police were called at 5:40 p.m. Thursday to the 600 block of Olive Street where a cement truck backed up too far and was stuck on the railroad tracks. Police notified Norfolk Southern to stop the trains until the truck could be removed. The driver and a fellow employee were able to remove the truck from the tracks. Norfolk Southern was notified.

-- Aaron Wolford, 25, of Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his eastbound vehicle on East State Street struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Salem girl who was slowing or stopped for traffic at 3:33 p.m. Thursday. Damage to both vehicles was minor. There were no injuries.

-- A man in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street reported at 1:39 p.m. Thursday that a person came to his residence and spit on his vehicle before fleeing in a blue Ford Escape. The person was not found.

-- A suspicious vehicle was reported at 1:12 p.m. Thursday in a lot in the 2200 block of East Pershing Street. The occupant left the vehicle on foot the hour prior. Officers were unable to locate the driver or owner and the bank was told the vehicle could be towed. The bank called back a short time later after someone returned. A woman said her daughter had been driving the vehicle when it ran out of gas. She was putting in fuel and said the vehicle would be moved.

-- A man in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported at 12:42 p.m. Thursday that his brake lines appeared to be cut on his vehicle. -- Utility wires were reported in the road at 11:28 a.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Police found a broken cable line and removed it from the road.

-- A woman from the 400 block of Cleveland Street reported at 10:29 a.m. Thursday that someone she knew cut off and stole the catalytic converter from her vehicle.

-- Police were called at 10:25 a.m. Thursday to check the well-being of a male reportedly nude outside a residence in the 600 block of West Pershing Street. A person passing by said the male fell out the front door, got up and went back inside. There was no answer at the door.

-- A woman in the 300 block of Penn Avenue reported at 9:50 a.m. Thursday that she was having ongoing problems with her neighbor yelling at her dog and smoking when she is not allowed to in the apartment complex. She was told it's a civil matter and to contact her landlord about the issues and to contact her case worker to seek other living arrangements. The other female told police she was yelling at the dog she's watching for her sister, which officers saw in the apartment, not the woman's dog. She said she's tired of the woman always calling police on her. Both were told to stay away from each other.

-- David Breault, 29, of Limaville, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 9:24 a.m. Thursday on Pennsylvania Avenue. A valid driver came to pick him up.

LEETONIA

-- Officers responded to a 300 block Walnut Street home at 9:10 a.m. Friday in reference to an elderly woman living without heat and electric. Officers found the 66-year-old woman known to have mental illness with the furnace off and no furniture, food or water. The resident said she was being evicted on Monday and her clothes were in her vehicle. The temperature of the house was determined to be 60 degrees and the resident had on layers of clothes to stay warm.
