-- A Columbia Street resident reported at 3:11 p.m. Sunday her ex-boyfriend will not stop text messaging and harassing her. She was advised to block his number and to contact the courts if she wanted to pursue a protection order.
-- A 200 block Chestnut Street resident reported at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday a package had been reported delivered to her front porch, but she never received it.
PERRY TOWNSHIP
-- An officer responded to the Salem Acres apartment complex on Prospect Street at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday where a resident reported finding her apartment ransacked and an internet modem missing. A neighbor said they saw an unknown man exiting a window of the apartment just as the maintenance worker was entering the front.
-- Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on state route 45 in front of the Salem Golf Club at 2:48 p.m. Tuesday in which the driver of a motorcycle was unable to avoid striking a cement block in the roadway and was thrown onto a grass embankment while the motorcycle slid 70 feet. The driver was transported by a friend to the hospital for a variety of injuries.
-- An officer responded to a 1700 block Harding Avenue home at 7:03 p.m. Tuesday to check the well-being of the resident after the resident's son reported not hearing from him in a while. The resident said he was okay and the electric was out, preventing him from using the phone.
-- An Andrew Avenue resident reported at 9:43 p.m. Tuesday an individual against whom she has a protection order had called her twice and left a voice message.
SALEM TOWNSHIP
-- A Butcher Road resident reported Monday someone overnight had stolen 11 baby ducks from her property. A neighbor reported seeing a woman in a red van parked near the pond and walk around a gate to possibly take the ducks. The same van was seen Sunday evening near the ducks. Anyone with information regarding the ducks or the woman in the van is asked to contact Constable Dan Valentine at 330-427-0808.
SALEM
-- Chantel M. Shuman, 29, Orchard Court, Salem, was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday where a resident accused her of stealing medication. Officers found Shuman near by and searched her belongings, finding several hypodermic needles, a paper fold with white residue and other miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. The medication was not found.
-- Ian M. Howard, 36, East Fourth Street, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County for using weapons while intoxicated following a traffic stop in the 700 block of East State Street at 6:32 p.m. Tuesday.
-- Officers responded with medical personnel to the 700 block of West Pershing Street at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a person down. Officers found an unresponsive man inside a home and medical personnel attempted to revive him before declaring him dead. The coroner's office completed an investigation and released the body to a funeral home.
-- An East Fifth Street resident reported at 6:06 p.m. Tuesday receiving a Facebook message from an unknown person who displayed a picture of his expired identification and accused him of breaking into her car. The resident said he lost the identification at the beginning of the year.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Cherry Street at 6:46 p.m. Tuesday where a resident reported his neighbor verbally threatened him for moving property near his mailbox. The two individuals came to an agreement and were told to stay on their own property.
-- An East Third Street resident reported on station at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday her juvenile daughter has been getting upset and hitting people. An officer spoke with the juvenile regarding the issue.
-- Police responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 7:34 p.m. Tuesday where a resident reported someone had been using her Facebook account, but she did not know who, and wanted to document the issue.
-- Police responded to the area of East State Street and Ellsworth Avenue at 7:51 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a fight. Officers spoke with everyone involved and learned it was a domestic disturbance between juveniles that started in the 100 block of West Pershing Street. The juveniles were turned over to a parent.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a fight about to occur in a parking lot. Officers found a group of men talking in the parking lot and no dispute had taken place.
-- Officers responded to the 1500 block of Shady Lane at 11:34 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a neighbor dispute and found two people arguing about a property line and yard waste. Both people were advised of their options.
-- Officers responded to the are under the overpass on West State Street at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver and found nothing suspicious.
-- Officers responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West State Street at 12:34 p.m. Wednesday where a resident turned over a syringe she found on the sidewalk. Officers disposed of the syringe at the police station.
