SALEM -- A Youngstown woman caught in an ongoing undercover sting operation that's targeting people selling sex online will face arraignment in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Oct. 15.
Latefa Stanley, 28, was issued summonses for soliciting and possession of criminal tools after showing up in the 700 block of East Pershing Street in Salem Thursday afternoon. She had arranged to meet a person who turned out to be an undercover agent from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
Salem Police assisted with stopping the female and transporting her to the police station for processing by the agent.
Stanley allegedly posted an ad on a known website used for the solicitation of prostitution. An undercover task force agent responded to the ad and Stanley agreed to sex acts for $220, while requesting extra gas money, then arrived at the pre-determined meeting spot in Salem.
She consented to a search of her cell phone which did not reveal that she was being forced or "ran" by any individual to engage in any prostitution activities. Stanley was provided with contact information for the Harriet Tubman movement if she would ever need their services. The Harriet Tubman Movement is an advocacy group which helps people subjected to sex trafficking, prostitution or other forms of exploitation.
Both charges against Stanley are misdemeanors.
