LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Michael Guappone, 54, state Route 172, Lisbon, for burglary, a fourth-degree felony, and a misdemeanor resisting arrest was bound over to the county grand jury.

Guappone allegedly trespassed into a residence in Lisbon inhabited by the victim and family while they were home by using stealth on July 17. He was allegedly seen on a camera and remained after being told to leave. The resisting arrest charge stemmed from him allegedly pulling away and kicking at officers while being placed under arrest, also on July 17 in Lisbon. He also allegedly kicked the rear driver side window of the patrol car and attempted to break the glass with the handcuffs after slipping out of them.

A pretrial was set Aug. 1 for George Jakubisn, 64, Indiana Avenue, Salem, charged with menacing by stalking, with bond set at $10,000 cash or surety and an order to have no contact with the alleged juvenile victims upon release after posting bond. Jakubisn was accused of following two juveniles through the neighborhood in the area of North Ohio Boulevard while making gun gestures with his hands on July 19 after he had been advised by officers to leave his neighbors alone. Police had been called for a report of harassment of juveniles by an adult male and had responded to multiple reports of harassment by the defendant to other people in the neighborhood, a police affidavit said.

A preliminary hearing/pretrial was set Aug. 1 for Matthew Beveridge, 44, Sharon, Pa., charged with trafficking in marijuana, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanors for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly showing up July 22 in East Palestine after soliciting sexual conduct from a female in answer to an ad placed by an undercover Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent in exchange for $100. He had claimed that he sells marijuana and when he arrived, allegedly had his cell phone used to make the arrangements, an open bottle of alcohol, $100 and three separate bags of marijuana and a digital scale.

A pretrial was set Aug. 25 for Breanna Knight, 20, Pinewood Drive, New Waterford, charged with aggravated menacing and resisting arrest for allegedly sending numerous threatening text messages to Cody Bouffine on July 20 in New Waterford and then resisting arrest on July 22 by pulling away from a police officer attempting to handcuff her, running up the stairs into her apartment and locking the door.

A pretrial was set Oct. 13 for Michael Purcell, 45, Park Place, Columbiana, for domestic violence for allegedly grabbing Amy Purcell’s hand and squeezing it causing physical pain when she went to turn the radio up while driving their children on July 12 on state Route 14 near D’lux Motors. When she told him not to hurt her, he allegedly began mocking her and punching the dash of her car. He was ordered to have no contact with her.

Robert Davis III, 37, Dome Street, East Liverpool, was fined $100 for disorderly conduct for causing a disturbance March 25 at the Frola Motel in Lisbon, had a strong odor of alcohol on him, started yelling and was refusing to indentify himself.

Daniel Blough, 26, Homewood Avenue, Salem, was fined $150 for disorderly conduct for refusing to call for a ride home and saying he was going to walk while intoxicated in the police lobby in Salem on June 4. He told officers to take him to jail.

A sentencing hearing was reset Aug. 18 for Jamie Drummond, 53, Cincinnati, who entered a guilty plea on June 30 to theft, but failed to appear for a previously set sentencing hearing in July. Drummond was accused of shoplifting at Walmart in Salem and left without paying for $246 worth of merchandise on June 28

Michael Copenhaver, 66, Warren, was fined $150 for disorderly conduct for verbally abusing Leetonia Police Chief Allen Haueter, refusing to identify himself and berating the chief during an incident at the Family Dollar store in Leetonia on July 13.

Louis Reynolds II, 36, West Main Street, New Waterford, was fined $1,100 and ordered to serve 10 days in jail for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to control, with his license suspended for two years and driving privileges granted. He was ordered to complete 30 hours community service.

Linda K. Dickey, 71, West Perry Street, Salem, was fined $925 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days for attending a driving intervention program for physical control, amended from OVI, and marked lanes. Her license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted. She was also ordered to complete 20 hours community service.

Charges of driving under suspension, failure to comply, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed at the request of the prosecution against Alex Lee Porter, 37, Albright Avenue, Columbiana. The charges stemmed from traffic stops March 30 and April 6 in Columbiana.

A pretrial was set Aug. 29 for Chloe Gerber, 20, Massillon, charged with OVI first offense, distracted driving, left of center and no seat belt.

A pretrial was set Sept. 20 for Chance Felton, 24, state Route 164, Salineville, charged with possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a marijuana pipe on July 18 on East Main Street, Salineville.

Jack Madden, 81, Elm Street, Leetonia, fined $225 for driving under suspension, transfer registration of vehicle and two counts failure to control from two separate traffic incidents, one in February and one in July.

A pretrial was set Oct. 13 for Wayne Swank, 30, Chardon, charged with speeding.

A pretrial was set Oct. 13 for Cody Staufeneger, 30, Morris, Lisbon, charged with driving under suspension and no seat belt.
