-- Officers responded to a residence on the 1100 block of East Third Street at 3:42 a.m. Monday for reports of a suspicious person near the residence. The resident claimed a man who had been evicted from the residence had been seen on security camera attempting to gain access in the residence. Officers checked the residence with the caller, and nothing was out of place. Officers did not find the man, and the resident did not want to file any charges yet, and just wanted a report made.
-- Officers responded to a residence on the 600 block of Woodland Avenue at 11:48 p.m. Sunday for complaints of a man yelling. Officers made contact with the man who states he wasn't yelling, just talking to his wife.
-- Officers responded to a parking lot in the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue at 11:36 p.m. Sunday for a suspicious vehicle. Officers made contact with two teenagers in the vehicle who were sent on their way after being identified with no issues observed.
-- Officers responded to the area of Rose Avenue and East Fourth at 11:11 p.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious people wearing black hooded sweat shirts and slicing tires of vehicles parked on the roadway, with multiple vehicles on Fourth and Third Streets having their tires slashed. The caller claimed the individuals to be two women. Officers were unable to locate the women, and contacted the owners of the vehicles to inform them of the incident.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West Pershing Street at 9:49 p.m. Sunday after hearing screaming. It was found to be children playing in their yard, officers determined everything was okay.
-- An officer responded to a residence on the 300 block of South Union Avenue at 7:58 p.m. Sunday in an attempt to make contact with an individual on behalf of the Perry Township Police Department. Officer learned the individual no longer lived there.
-- An officer spoke with a South Broadway Avenue resident at 6:27 p.m. Sunday for questions about a protection order they have against an individual and possible violations of the order. Officer advised the resident of their option.
-- A woman turned a debit card found at the bank in at the police station at 5:49 p.m. Sunday, the item was taken into recovered property for safekeeping.

-- An officer responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street at 3:37 p.m. Sunday for a damage report. Officer was advised by several residents that a white sedan heading Eastbound ran off the South side of the roadway and struck a metal fence post, breaking it off at the ground at around 10 a.m., and that the vehicle did not stop. Officer was responded by residents that vehicles often speed down the street.
-- Officers responded to a residence on the 1900 block of Monroe Street at 3:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of breaking and entering. The resident claimed someone had trespassed inside the residence. Photos were taken and the officer advised a report would be made.
-- While on patrol near the 800 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:13 p.m. Sunday an officer observed vehicles traveling left of center in the 1200 block of North Ellsworth. Officers responded and found several limbs from large shrubs obstructing the southbound lane. Officer removed the limbs from the street and placed them along the curb. A note was left for the Street Department to pick the limbs up and dispose of them.
-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 2:14 p.m. Sunday for reports of a road rage incident. The caller advised a verbal altercation between drivers had occurred, and afterward one of the vehicles traveled left of center coming toward Salem. Officers spoke with both drivers in Salem and did not see any signs of impairment from the driver that had reportedly gone left of center. The driver said he had looked at his phone, causing the incident. Officer requested he exercise more caution when driving.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Eight Street at 1:36 p.m. Sunday for a resident wanting to speak with an officer about threats being made. A report was filed.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Eight Street at 1:28 p.m. Sunday for a report of a stolen bicycle. Officers collected information on the bicycle from its' owner. The owner was unsure of who might have taken it, but assumed it had been taken sometime Saturday night.
-- Officers Responded to the 100 block of East Wilson Street at 12:52 p.m. Sunday for dispute over property being thrown around. Officers arrived and resolved the matter.
-- Officers responded to the area of Centennial Park at 11:02 a.m. Sunday for a report of several people in a black BMW yelling at people in the park. Officers located the individuals and advised them of the complaint. The individuals denied all allegations. Officers spoke to other individuals in the park who advised there wasn't anyone yelling.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Whinnery Road at 9:33 a.m. Sunday for a report of a stolen vehicle. While investigating the issue and speaking with the caller, a State Highway Patrolman arrived at the residence and explained they had recovered the stolen vehicle earlier that morning. The vehicle was involved in an accident on St. Jacobs Logtown Road. The matter was resolved shortly after and a separate investigation by the State Highway Patrol will be conducted. The caller did not wish to pursue stolen vehicle charges through the Salem Police Department.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Cherry Street at 5:28 a.m. Sunday for a person with a gun. It was reported that shots had been fired with an AR-15 rifle. Prior to officer dispatch the same resident called to report that the man had left the residence on Cherry Street to go back to his home and get his gun, with intent to use it on one of the residence's occupants. Upon arrival officers were informed the man who was known to officers to be Austin Baird, 20, had fled on foot towards the Super USA Station. Officers responded to the area of Super USA where they located Baird as he emerged from one of the stalls of the Lincoln Street Car Wash. Officers ordered Baird to lie on the ground, to which he complied, and was taken into custody. A subsequent investigation found a live .223 round on the street near the residence while officers spoke with witnesses on scene and throughout the neighborhood. K-9 Simon was called to conduct a search for the rifle involved in the incident as it was not on Baird's person as time of arrest, but nothing was found. Baird was charged with aggravated menacing, tampering with evidence, using weapons while intoxicated, and underage consumption. Baird was taken to the police department for processing and later transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to a residence on the 500 block of Rose Avenue at 5:22 a.m. Sunday for one to be removed. Upon arrival the resident informed officers that the individual had just left by the rear door, and that they had wanted them removed because she was afraid they would harm her. Officers advised the resident to keep her doors locked and to contact them if the individual returns.
East Palestine
-- The Highway Patrol reported a possible reckless driver coming from state Route 170 into East Palestine at 5:33 p.m. Friday. An officer found the vehicle as it entered village limits and initiated a traffic stop, but the driver was found not to be impaired.
-- Police responded to the police department at 11:40 p.m. Thursday to speak with a man regarding a possible protection order violation.
Columbiana
-- A report was taken by police after someone backed into another person's vehicle on North Cross Street at 7:38 p.m. June 30.
-- Michael Gargano Jr., 50, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault after an incident on the 200 block South Vine Street at 10:46 p.m. June 30.
-- Charles McQuillan, 62, was arrested for public indecency and persistent disorderly conduct after a neighbor dispute on West Woodland Avenue at 1:41 p.m. July 1, and was booked into Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers received a call about a hit skip motor vehicle accident at the intersection of state Routes 7 and 14 at 6:05 p.m. July 2. The caller stated that they witnessed a vehicle strike another vehicle and take off. Officers searched the area, but did not find either vehicle and cleared.
-- Police assisted EMS at Saint Mary's Alzheimer's Center at 8:33 p.m. July 3.
-- Erich Mericle, 37, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Allen Avenue at 2:49 a.m. July 4.
-- Matthew Hormel, 39, was arrested for domestic violence after an incident on Union Street at 3:31 p.m. July 5.
-- Officers were dispatched to Spruce Street at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman causing self harm. EMS transported her to Salem Hospital for treatment.
-- Shannon Baker, 47, was arrested on an active warrant from Columbiana County Sheriff at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday on Parkview Drive and was later turned over to the sheriff's office.
-- Christine Sullivan, 27, East Liverpool, was arrested on an active warrant through Columbiana County Sheriff at 12:27 a.m. Thursday at the Duke & Duchess gas station on East state Route 14 and was later turned over to the sheriff's office.
-- Matthew Mraz, 49, and Joseph Mraz, 51, were arrested at 1:58 a.m. Thursday after a traffic stop in front of the Nazarene Church on Parkview Drive and Elm Street. Matthew is charged with possessing drug paraphernalia and Joseph is charged with possessing marijuana drug paraphernalia. The suspected drugs were seized and further charges are pending BCI lab results.

-- Clint Gaskill, 44, New Waterford, was arrested at 10:52 p.m. Thursday after a traffic stop at the intersection of state route and Columbiana Waterford Road for violating a protection order. The protected person was in the vehicle with him at the time.
-- Amanda Kimble, Rogers, was cited for expired registration and driving without a valid license at 5:11 p.m. Friday after a traffic stop on state Route 7.
-- Justine McGee, 30, was arrested on an active warrant from Columbiana County Sheriff at 6:11 a.m. Saturday.
-- Steven Paniagua, 51, Youngstown, was cited for speed and overtaking traffic after officers got behind his vehicle for a speeding violation at the intersection of state Routes 46 and 14 at 7:27 a.m. Saturday.
Leetonia
-- An officer was dispatched to Oakdale Cemetery at 3:04 p.m. Friday to put down a sick raccoon. The officer did so and disposed of it safely.
-- A Main Street resident came to the station at 5:38 p.m. Thursday to report a bike theft from his property. The resident stated that a bike was taken the night before, and had last been seen at 10:00 p.m. He noticed it was missing at 8:00 the next morning, and reported it stolen at 4:30 p.m. The bicycle is described as a dark blue Huffy mountain bike with added "L" brackets on the handlebars.
-- A Honey Lane resident came on station at 5:49 p.m. Friday to report that he received a letter in the mail from Columbiana County Common Pleas Court stating that a court case had been filed by a credit card company seeking payment for credit card debt that was not his, since he had no credit card. He was advised by the court to call the police and file an identity theft report for the case, and was told by the police to contact an attorney and his banks to gather information for the case.
-- Officers responded to the Small Wonders daycare center on Walnut Street at 8:11 p.m. Saturday for an open basement door, which they secured.
-- Police were called to the area of West Main Street and School Street to assist Boardman Police with a traffic stop at 6:27 p.m. Friday, where they stood by and assisted while the vehicle was checked and citations were issued.
-- Officers were dispatched to Walnut Street for a medical assist at 2:31 p.m. July 2. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the caller and family and discovered that an elderly woman had fallen while walking down a small step on the sidewalk in front of her residence and hurt her hip. The woman was in a wheelchair and was able to move without difficulty, but felt she needed x-rays. The officer stood by until Green Township ambulance arrived, then cleared.
